Hi all! Happy Monday :) I too have plantars right now, and it kills me. I still exercise tho - I can stand not too - that frozen water bottle works like a charm tho!! I have one here at work and use it after every workout when I get back from lunch. I also bought some orthotics at the running store here in town - they weren't too expensive ($40), and I put them in the oven for a few minutes, then into your shoe and stand on it while it molds to your foot. I wear these in all of my shoes and it seems to help too.

Hubby did his PET test today and had his catheter tube changed. Lab was too busy for him to want to wait for his bloodwork, so he'll go tonight. We have "Clinic" next Tuesday to get the results of his PET (to see how well the peritoneal dialysis is clearing his toxins), and just to check his overall health.

Good to hear your tests went well Jean! Hope everyone else is doing well too!! Have a great week!

I'm working on keeping all the promises I make to myself - I'm worth it!

Claire here is the info: My nephrologist prescribed me 1/2 a dose of what a "normal" person will take (a person without ckd) LOL at myself! It is called TRILYTE and it is suppose to be safer for our kidneys.

Jean, I'm so glad your test turned out so well! I'd be interested in the name of the cleansing product you used for your colonoscopy so I can talk to my doc about it. As of last August, he thought the existing products were too dangerous. Perhaps you are using a new one? I worry so much since I've not had one in almost 4 years and I should be doing the test at a minimum every other year.

C, I've never had that kind of foot trouble, so I can't sympathize. However, it sounds awful! I'm so fortunate that I can just stand up and go.

Hope everyone is enjoying their Saturdays!

Caroline, I so understand! When mine flares up - I roll a frozen bottle of water with my foot. Not only does this relieve the pain, but it "fixes" the plantar fascilitis. I have not had a bout in a few years now - I always go to the frozen bottle for relief when it flairs up. I hope you try it.

Thank you everyone on your support! I appreciate all of the supportive comments.

I my self have had a couple of weeks of pain again. some of you know I had Plantar Fasciilitis, in my right heel a couple of months ago and 2 weeks ago I got it in my left heel. this is so painful and you cant walk on the foot it is in. Predisone is the only thing I can take to stop the pain and then I gain weight. I have been weak again, I think it is from not being able to be active. So I am back to square one, with this heel thing, I sure hope all this ends soon.Every one take care of yourself.

Im starting to take control of my life today. I will take care of me, love my self., be good to my self, I am strong, i can do this.

Thank you everyone - my tests went well! I will know the impact upon my kidneys with my next blood test, which I am calling today to get it done next week.

I got a clean bill of health - I do not have to to go back for 10 years for colonoscopy. My EDG shows mild GERD, doc said prob because I have no gallbladder.

I will continue on journey to health!

Keep loving your kidneys team!
Finals this week.

God Bless you!

Paula, tell your hubby good luck for me.
The grass is definitely green and growing here. Had a cool snap earlier this week. Thank goodness I hadn't set out my vegetable plants yet. Supposed to warm up starting today and go on through the rest of the week.
Glad you got plenty of donations for the Kidney Walk. That is terrific.

Hi all! Jean, all the best with your tests!

I know they're always stressful for my husband too - this weekend, he needs to do his 24hr urine, and then collect his dialysis outlet for the night - it's call a PET Test. They just test it to see how the dialysis is going, and if they need to change his prescription. He'll also have his catheter tube changed. All fairly painless (other than reminding the kids not to drink the "juice" in the jug in in the beer fridge downstairs - lol) compared to yours.

On the bright side, I reached my goal of $2,500 in donations today for the Kidney Walk!! I've had to bump my goal up now :) The hubby and I have very many generous friends and clients :)

Hope everyone else is doing well!! I'm so ready for spring, but it keeps snowing here. At least it melts right away, and the grass is getting very green!! emoticon

It is the prep that we have to worry about... have to push the water up until midnight...

My nephrologist prescribed me 1/2 a dose of what a "normal" person will take (a person without ckd) LOL at myself! It is called TRILYTE and it is suppose to be safer for our kidneys.

I think I would rather have the colonoscopy to prevent colon cancer and know that I do everything I can to LOVE my kidneys.

What I do find bothersome - (not my neph.) but docs who look at my creatinine levels and are so blase about my kidney disease! I work hard to keep my numbers "normal" and they are so like - your kidneys are FINE... makes me mad!!

At any rate - will update every one Tues. As I be under the influence of drugs tomorrow.
As I am also having a EGD - down the throat!
Take care and LOVE your kidneys team!

Jean

Jean - a colonoscopy! Oh I hope you really really needed that. I have an issue that required I have on every couple years. My proctologist won't do them anymore because of the kidney disease.

This constant picking between 2 things that can kill us is emotionally draining.

I got finished with my newsletter column this morning for the Kinston Senior Center. Had to write about what to do in May.

Went to see my nephrologist this past Monday. Had a good appointment as the lab work came out fine and my vital signs were good.

Hi everyone!

Darlene still praying for your family!

Paula - that is AWESOME! I used to do the Kidney walk/run here, but on top of our donations they have increased the price of admission to the Zoo where they hold the walk... I love our cause, but I cannot afford at this time to donate money to the cause and pay $20.00 to go for a mile walk.

Caroline, I hope all is well with you!

Roses - I love that my community also has a place for me to donate things I no loner use or clothes that I do not wear.

Medical News:
I am going for an EGD and colonoscopy on Monday - I am a little nervous about the effect on my CKD, but am doing what I can to lesson the impact on my kidneys.
Please say a prayer for me for Monday that all goes well.

Will update all Tuesday.

I have FINALs this week - and I have taken a lighter load, only one class until June 27 and then off for 8 glorious weeks!

God Bless! Take care all!
Jean

Hi! Here in our City, on May 11 we're having the Kidney Foundation Fun Run and Walk. I created a team here at work, and asked for donations yesterday from many friends, family and clients. I'm at $1,500 already! I can't believe the generosity we've received already in 1 day!!

I enjoy doing this, as one day, we may need the assistance of the Foundation if and when my hubby gets a transplant call.

Hope everyone else is doing okay and has a Great Weekend!

I'm working on keeping all the promises I make to myself - I'm worth it!

Right now, we have been at the hospital since Monday morning. At 315 am Davids
sister called and his mother had fallen, so we got dressed and went and picked her
up, then at 8 she fell again and we went back, calling an ambulance. I told David the
first trip she had something wrong.....anyway, turns out she had a stroke.
His sister fell and injured the shoulder reconstruction she had a week ago, and went
into emergency surgery today.
Anyway, I have been feeding her and whatever she needs done, and talking with her
trying to give her confidence in her recovery.

I only posted tonight because I am not sure what is going to happen next, she is going into
rehab for 20 days, and then we shall see if she makes progress, in walking, being able to get
out of bed, etc. The sister is going to have to go to some kind of nursing facility...

Ok I am making chicken this week!

April has been crazy - but when is it ever not in my life?

My dad and my brother were both in the hospital - each in ICU, sixty miles apart!

Dad came home last weekend and bro came home yesterday.
Don developed an infection after his surgery and I have been running him to the dr every other day - an hour each way, different offices... he is finally on the mend, but will be out of work an extra 2 weeks.

I have two more weeks of my current classes and then begin another 8 week course with 2 classes - ending on June 28th and will have some much needed time off!

I hope everyone is loving their kidneys!!
Take care and God Bless you!

Wow these chicken roasts sounds so good. I will have to try them. Claire we like spicy foods also. I don't eat the skin either.
Roses I never though of the Bay Spices, sounds so good.
I hope more people post on this, for so many good ideas on how we eat, and they are all Kidney friendly. thanks so much.

I'm doing a whole chicken today. I use a rub of garlic and herbs with olive oil. Since I don't eat the skin, I put the rub under the skin wherever I can. Sometimes I put half lemons and/or onions in the cavity.

Sometimes I use Italian seasonings. Since both my DH and I like a little kick, most often mine is a rub of paprika, cumin, orange peel, pepper, basil.

I wrap the left over skeletons in cheesecloth then I boil the bejeebie out of it to make chicken stock. (Once it's wrapped, I use my mallet to break it down a it.)

I make Carolina Bay Chicken. Put Bay spices on your chicken (I use chicken tenders) and put that side down in the pan and cover the other side with the spices. Sauté for just a couple of minutes on each side than put about 1 1/2 cups of chicken stock in and let is boil for 10-15 minutes. You don't need to turn it until you take it up. This is a good recipe that is simple and quick. You can also use Old Bay if you can't find the other.

Darlene, I don't usually bake a whole chicken, it seems a lot of waste to me . I do the parts we like and do the same I use chicken broth, and spices to your taste. Sometimes in the oven and sometimes Crock Pot.

veggies are slightly sweetened carrots, Pot. around the roast. I always have a salad prepped, so we always have salad.
I use my Crock Pot for the roast. I also love baked chicken.
Most of you know I only do Organic foods.

Awesome on the weight loss and keeping it off.
As for me I have not been eating but 1 meal a day, because I am not hungry and I know its bad for me, for the CKD as well as one cant lose weight this way. My Neph. told me not to be so hard on my self and try to start with very small meals, even if its only a few bites, so here I go with this. Im doing it for my Kidneys.

Continue my weight loss. Managed to drop 6 lbs during March - but most of it at the beginning of the month. Need to keep my focus in the right place

On the other hand, March was a bad month regarding eating at home. Between work responsibilities and a too hectic schedule, we ate out or delivered 17 days out of 31! In that circumstance, I feel victorious that I didn't gain weight! Still not exercising nearly enough.

One of my goals is to lose this weight that I have managed to put on the past 2 weeks. The other goal is to exercise more so that I won't be so sore this gardening season.
