Ellen, can you tell me what your levels are from your last blood work, and when was it. I am no Dr. but each Chronic Kidney Disease Person has different needs and different diets as to what the blood work says,
for instance i tend to have high Phosphorus, i really have to watch my sodium, about 6 months ago my uric acid went up, as a result i am on medicine now for gout. gout is very common in CKD, I also take a phos. binder.. I have a friend who's potassium is always high, mine is not and i can eat pretty much any veg. or fruit, but i do watch it carefully. i have to watch my calcium also for it also wants to go high,
I take Renal Caps, a vitamin for CKD , My Vitamin D runs very low, i am on 5,000 units of Vit. D3 every day., also omega 3-dha-epa- fish oil every day. I am anemic so i am on Vitron C with iron..I am only allowed so many oz. of liquids a day, I drink water and ice tea.
I posted this to give you a idea of what i have to do. Others on here are different in there needs as to diet.
my opionion, be very careful, 3rd stage is not for sissy's, we do what we have to do to stay healthy., I have a execellent Nephrologist and this is so important in this disease.
The best to you.
Im starting to take control of my life today. I will take care of me, love my self., be good to my self, I am strong, i can do this.
