We dont have a lot of Dr. here who pratice Preventative medicine, but then we do. Yes they are a lot more Dr. these days doing this. Hope this statement makes sense. Also the web is a good site to get some good information.
Love you all.

Well, the kids are on their way home as we speak, so I am technically back...lol

I have found, sad to say, that medicine has become such a money maker that I don't think
some drs. actually care whether we get better or not.

I suspect "some" of not advising about food/drink choices, because that is another money
making opportunity when we have more problems

Therefore, I think we all have to be PRO - ACTIVE for our own health. Research what is
proven to be good or bad for you.........do your own homework and don't depend on someone
else who may/may not have your best interests at heart.

If you always do what you've always done,
You'll always be who you've always been!!!!!!

is the quiet voice at the
end of the day saying "I
will try again tomorrow!"

I so love you Claire!!! and all of our team! YOU guys are awesome!

What drives me absolutely crazy is drs who tell ME/US that we dont have to worry about any of that in stage 3!! If we dont try to prevent stage 4 - we will continue to have our health deteriorate! I do believe in preventive medicine and I also believe that I can and do change my chances of a transplant or dialysis!

I love raspberries!!! I do however avoid them! The last thing I need is more problems.

I like to share the info - we all have info to share and learn from.

so true Caroline, they don't seem to do prevention here. We can't even see a renal dietician until after you start dialysis then they are only based in the big city hospitals. Not much help. I do ask questions but I follow a lot of things from the information that you guys suggest that we should be doing.
So thanks everyone for all your suggestions.

Good for you Claire, the thing is our Dr. sometimes dont practice preventative medicine, they wait until its to late to do any thing about it and want to hand us a pill.

Ok. I won't say it - well, not that way!

Raspberries best represents my distress and confusion when I joined the team - it was about the time I had met with my dietician for the first time and she had strongly encouraged me to eat them as part of this list of super food (which she gave me a couple years ago). After I read your original post about them being bad for us because of the oxilates,I asked my doc about raspberries; she just waived her hand in the arm dimissively and said I was a long way from worrying about axilates.

That's when I threw up my hands.. And got on the 'listen to your experts, but challenge them with info I learn here just in case."

it is great info to keep. Thank you Jean. It was good information about what the foods do. I remember what was written about the raspberries but there was the other 14 foods. Still think it is handy info.

Most of you know that my contact Maury passed away and I used to get all types of info from him.
I came across a list of 15 super foods for Kidney Health, especially if you have CKD. Raspberries is on this list.

I think he sent me the link about raspberries and untreated CKD. You can see my post here:

I can hear Claire saying dont say it... but here I go!
Always check with your dr or Neph. or dietician or nutritionist... I can only share my experiences and knowledge, but that does NOT mean it may pertain to you.

Love your kidneys.
