Today was the Ocean City, NJ Kidney Walk. I think we did more like 10K than 5K--we walked around the boardwalk for a couple hours after the actual walk was over. The weather was perfect--sunny, gentle breeze, low 70s.
Our team, "Harmon's Hoofers", was the top fundraising team. We raised over $1600 for the cause!! I was the top individual fundraiser, at over $1000. I even got a special Tshirt and pin!
We got to meet a couple of donors, and one recipient. I am just in awe of people who are willing to donate a kidney, especially to a stranger. What a totally selfless act. How appropriate that they had signs to wear that said "Hero". They ARE heroes!
My feet are absolutely killing me, but it was well worth it. I hope to be able to do this walk again next year, and the year after that, and for many years to come!

I think Congressmen should wear uniforms like NASCAR drivers, so we could identify their corporate sponsors.
