A little triva on the center of Alberta www.townofswanhills.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=41&Itemid=73. We have to pass it everytime we go to Edmonton, but I still feel like we live in Northern Alberta especially this time of year.

I am from Red Deer. Born and raised - though I did live in Calgary and Lacombe for a short while. Miss the pace of life in Calgary, but do not miss the traffic! We're hoping to move to Airdrie in the near future - but for now, here we are!

Hi, I live just east of Blackfalds and work at home. I'm a member of the TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) group - we meet Thursdays at 6:00 in the Cheemo hall (downstairs in the town office) if anyone want to meet for fun and support.

My husband and I have an acreage close to Rimbey, but I work full-time in Ponoka.

Hi everyone! My husband and myself split our time between Airdrie and Sundre. I'm originally from Edmonton, but the mountains have always drawn me. I've been going to the Sundre area since I was 4 and I never get tired of the peace and beauty of our province!

I'm in Calgary, which feels very South. Travel to Edmonton lots, which is where I'm originally from, to visit my family. On a map, Edmonton is about the middle.

I agree with you. We all think Edmonton is north and Calgary is south, but to cut the province in thirds there is a whole half of the province north of Edmonton... a whole lot of it.. I went with hubby once to Manning, and I thought that was far north, but not so.. guess it depends on where you live.

Central Alberta ...

I'm from Medicine Hat originally ... lived there 40 years. Back then I thought of Edmonton as 'up north'. lol Since moving to Whitecourt, I've learned that I actually live south of the centre of the province now. So I guess 'central' is subject to interpretation. Not to nitpick, but I think of Grande Prairie, Peace River, High Level, Fort Mac, etc as being northern Alberta. But that's just me ...

more the center part of Alberta, south of Edmonton, North of Calgary..
dividing the province in thirds..

I guess it depends. I'm not overly familiar with the geography of Alberta. If you want to get together with people, if you're closer to Edmonton, that might be the better message board.

If you want just people to talk to on message boards and through email, for support here is good. Especially where Cold Lake is a smaller town like more areas in Central Alberta, some things might be more relatable to other small town people, rather than a message board like Edmonton.

When you say "Central Alberta" do you mean in the center of Alberta? Because I'm considered central Alberta, but I'm further east, almost to the Saskatchewan border, in Cold Lake.

well first there is the Wii
its a gaming machine, for the TV.
Like a playstation, or nintendo game cube
but its newer
and a Wii fit is a add on to the Wii
it has a mat that connects to the Wii and you do moves according to the Wii on the board.
I have seen it at our walmart, but not currently in stock.
you could try a EB Games store, you can even put it on order there.
not at walmart though (where I work)

A_Sask ... Yes, I'm old enough to remember the NEP and the way that things went in the oilfield back in 1982. My husband has been involved in the oilfield for 40 years, but hasn't done much of anything for the past two.

That is so true. My dad has worked in the patch for 30 years and I remember my mom always saying that, "Feast or Famine". I never truly understood it until I had a family of my own! They seem to be picking up now that they are into their new quarter, but he will be away in Whitecourt most likely until break-up. :(

hey from the town of Eckville. You guys truly have nothing to complain about. We are the ones who truly have nothing!!!! But I agree with the Wii fit.
The dance and the boxing are great cardio.

Hi there. I've actually been doing yoga at home with DVD's, but i believe they have classes at the gym here. I've meant to go down and check it out, but its been hard because I have a 3 and 5 yr old and my hubby works in the patch so is away alot.

My name is Marie and my husband and I live in Whitecourt, which is about 170km NW of Edmonton.

Up until 2000, I worked for the TD Bank (25 years). Since then I've been a part time bookkeeper.

My husband has a 30 year old son, but I never had any children (I had endometriosis instead).

Right now we have no pets ... it's just the two of us.

I enjoy working, aquacise, weights. I also enjoy gathering family history, especially scanning old pics and trying to improve them in photoshop. I read a lot and I'm trying to regain some skill on the keyboard after a long hiatus from playing.
