Kitchen Day for me!
After a down week I spent last night doing some general housecleaning and mentally clearing the clutter from my mind and spirit. I also set some pork to marinate in fresh apples, pepper roasted cashews and worcester. I applied a fresh layer of seasoning to my cast iron skillet (which I love almost as much as my husband) and set it on the freshly cleaned stove to meet me in the morning.
And what a morning it is! Beautiful clear sunshine hi-lighting the turning leaves on the cedar outside my window, children playing happily in the playground just beyond, a chilly freshness on the air. I love the fall for days like this!
A fresh breakfast of scrambled eggs, oatmeal, juice and delicious coffee has started us well. Hubby has gone to bed (works nights) and now I'm preparing to roast my pork with fresh beets, corn and taters. I'm also going to bake some apples and precook some pasta sauce for the coming week.
When I take the time to make Sunday a day of culinary joy, it creates a gorgeous aroma and vibe in the apartment and gets the creative juices flowing in other areas of my - Mind, Body and Soul - in preparation for another week.
I surprised myself by being so ready for this today, it's usually harder after a low week. It makes that extra hard effort I put in last night to prepare for today so much worth it, even though I felt crappy and expected to wake today feeling the same and have trouble getting up.
