Had a good day yesterday, I went to the mall in the afternoon and we walked for about 30 minutes. My feet start to hurt so we found a place to sit and have a cold drink, so hot still these days in S Florida. I have not tried the chair exercises yet, I will look for them on the internet. I go for Physical Therapy again today. Went last Thursday and the massage felt wonders, loosened the muscels in my neck. They will be doing the MRI today to see exactly what is causing my neck and arm pain and weakness. Wish me luck.

Hope all have a sunshiny day today.. emoticon

Hello Raesun!

I highly recommend the chair aerobics. I have lost 76 pounds doing this and regained a huge amount of mobility. Message me if you have any questions!

I too am trying to figure out what kind of exercise I can do. I like to walk, but I have Neuropathy and my feet begin to hurt to much to walk for long periods. I had lump nodes removed in my left arm so I am not allowed to lift anything over 10 pounds and repetitious exercises are not allowed. I am doing ok with the weight, having lost 20lbs during Chemo, but need to lose more. Doctor said she wants me to continue to lose the weight. I am going to be having additional (reconstruction) surgery soon, so I will be limited in much of what I can do for a while. I like the suggestion about the sitting exercises and DVD's. I plan to check them out. I think also when I am up to it, I should try the recumbent stationary bike as well. I have thought about looking into a water aerobics class as well, etc. Good luck to everyone and have a nice day. emoticon

It sound like you have access to a gym, how about a recumbent stationary bike.

Hi Diana emoticon Do you have access to a pool like @ the YMCA? I am a breast cancer survivor. Doing water exercises has helped me feel strong again (after the chemo.) I am a retired RN. They don't recommend that you exercise a lot during radiation treatment. Your body needs it's energy to fight the cancer. It takes time to regain your strength. Nurture yourself and rest when you need to. Keep posting my friend. emoticon

If you are able, walking is good exercise. If you aren't able to get outside to walk, Leslie Sansone has some great indoor walking tapes.

If you need to exercise seated, (which I do), there is a great chair exercise team here on Spark; you can find the link on my Spark Page. I also do Sit and Be Fit DVDs, and on the days I am feeling stronger, I have some Jodi Stolove Chair Aerobic DVDs which are a lot of fun.

My name is Shari; I have been a Sparker since July 2006, and living with Stage IV breast cancer since 2007.

Promise me you'll always remember: You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.

As FANCYQTR said, there are some great videos for seated exercises on this site and there are a few for yoga as well. They are good for getting moving without weight bearing. I've tried a few on chemo days when I feel too tired to walk or otherwise move.

Is the pain in your feet from neuropathy? Can you walk around the block or just a few houses at a time?

The core exercises in the chair that are on the Exercise of the Day might be doable. I was checking them out because I can't get on the floor and up again to do most of the core exercises they have. If you have a pool nearby exercises in the pool might be an idea.

I'm not really good at ideas like that. I understand gaining back the weight after or even during cancer treatments. I started gaining back as soon as the surgery was over.

Hi Everyone
My name is Diana I was diagnose with cancer 6 months ago I've had chemo and my operation starting radiotherapy tomorrow. I was extremely active before going to the gym 5 days a week doing free weights 3 days and cardio 5 days a week for 2 years lost the weight felt stronger eating better had that feel good factor. Since treatment I've gained all the weight back that I lost , I struggle daily to do anything that involve using my hands or feet as its still painful after treatment, I've been told that it will improve in time. But I'm going crazy and would like to try something gentle at least. Any help would be much appreciated. Trying my best to stay strong. live lovingly always xx
