I will keep on, until I get back to my goal.

I am a kidney cancer survivor of two years and feel very blessed. It seems I was born with only one kidney and since the operation only have a small portion left of my sole offending one. I have a wonderful kidney specialist with whom I still have regular 3 month check-ups, but recently heard from the oncologist that he doesn't need to see me for another year! Yippee! I live in Spain and can't begin to express my gratitude to all the medical staff at the wonderful University hospital here in Malaga; nor to my caring Spanish neighbours and friends and my long-suffering husband and son. I know things can change but I feel very positive about the immediate future and am determined to follow all the doc's instructions - anything to escape the dreaded dialysis emoticon. My very best wishes go to all you fellow survivors. Stay strong, I so hope like me, you have wonderful supporters around you.

Candice,
I'm praying for you!

I recently had nephrectomy on Jan 28, 2013 on my right. Two doctors told me neither chemo or radiation would do me any good. Pathology came back clear cell carcinoma. I am now cancer free. I live in Alabama (from Georgia, cheaper taxes) but had my surgery in Jacksonville, Fla at the Mayo Hospital. So I understand your plight. I wish you the very best, and prayers!

Hi Candice,
I'm very sorry to hear about the loss of your husband and now this additional stress. I have kidney cancer currently, and will be having a tumor removed on Thursday. When I learned I had "lesions" on my kidneys, I panicked and read everything I could find. I also read many people's experiences with kidney issues. I tell you this to let you know that MANY times it isn't cancer, but cysts or other benign tumors. Your doctor probably wants to be cautious and thorough. Also, they do not typically treat kidney cancer with radiation or chemo therapy as they just aren't effective on this part of the body, but there are several good drugs for targeted or immunotherapy.

I will be praying for you and hope to hear good news soon!
Eileen

Thank you all so much for your responses; they were truly helpful in curbing the panic. I do have a large family but the illness and death of my husband has really taken its toll on my 87 year old father.

I will wait to tell them until I get the test results. I do have a best friend who was diagnosed with a very aggressive cancer last June and has just finished his last chemo and radiation.
The year before he almost lost his wife to a heart attack and breast cancer. I did tell him and I know I can call anytime and he has already offered to visit.

Again, thank you so much for your kind responses.

Be Well,

Candace

My heart goes out to you. Please find someone close or clergy with whom you can share. I am a renal cancer survivor of 23 years. I had a 5 cm tumor and the removal of the kidney was all that was involved. Followup with CT and bone scans was all that i encountered for 10 years....small price to pay.

Oh, WOOBIE0902, I wish I could give you a big hug! emoticon
I think that lung cancer can spread to the kidney but then if you do have kidney cancer, it can be a totally different cancer, not related at all to your lung cancer. That's what I'm thinking anyway. Did the Dr. think that the "cyst" that they saw was cancer?

My brother had Kidney cancer that had not metastasized and all they did was remove his kidney, He did not need radiation nor chemo.

My sympathy at the loss of your husband. Please do seek some help, either from family, your church or if you do have kidney cancer, from a counselor connected to your cancer center., You've been hit several blows at once.

Candice... please read my home page. It's time to rally the friends & family around for support! Any cancer found early is not something to fear, and you need to first wait for your test results to all come in... Kidney cancer has a very distinct shape that can be recognized on CT and US... they are usually very slow growing... but the tests may also show them to be cysts. Come on line frequently, because right now your plate is more then full...it's overflowing onto the floor... let us help you, many of us have been where you're at, so we understand the "end of my rope syndrome"...you don't have to go it alone! You are in my thoughts and prayers and I'm sending Spark emoticonemoticonemoticon. Spark mail me if you have any questions.

Candace, so sorry to hear what's going on. I wish you the best in getting through this very hard time.

Cancer can come back in just about any organ, especially if it had metastazised. You said your lung cancer was 5 years ago. That's an eternity for cancers to be related. This is most likely not your same lung cancer in your kidneys.

Keep us posted. I'm sorry for your loss.

I am a lung cancer survivor of five years. My last CT showed some cysts in the kidneys and my oncologist had me schedule an ultrasound. The results were mailed to me and he wants to do an MRI.

My dads sister died from kidney cancer. Can lung cancer come back in the kidneys?

I just lost my husband two weeks ago. I found him in insulin shock on December 16, and he was immediately transferred to the Cardiace Intensive Care Unit at the best hospital in Cleveland where he stayed for two weeks.

They released him on a friday and on NYE I had to call 911 because he was having difficulty breathing. He coded twice the following Monday and passed away on Wednesday. I had lost weight while he was in the hospital which I attributed to stress.

I am overwhelmed and feel like I've been blindsided. There are several cysts in my left kidney, the largest measuring 2.2 cm. I'm trying not to panic but am in such emotional and physical exhaustion I dont think I have the strength to survive another bout of cancer, especially if it involves chemo or radiation as I am already extremely underweight.

Thanks for listening.

Candace
