CheriAnn, the way you described your book, I had a feeling!

I had some GREAT news today. I went in for a diagnostic ultrasound, and the tech and the radiologist could not find anything! My tumors started out around 13-14 mm each (I think), and today they couldn't find them at all. If there'd been a small mass around each marker clip that they put in the the clips would show up, but now they're just blending in as blips of healthy tissue.

Best news I could have possibly heard today.

Cassie~ That is exactly the book!

What an awful day yesterday! My computer crashed first thing in the morning. Got that to the shop to be fixed, then in the afternoon I was in the basement and noticed the sewers were backed up~~ took us all afternoon/night to get that resolved. Not fun!!

I hope not to have too many of those days!! Poor husband had to get up and go in to work 4 hours early as well. Tonight we will probably both be sleeping early!!

Good morning everyone! We have another new member! emoticon GIGIBYRDE, I hope you come here and say hello to the team! We would love to get to know you, and you can get to know us:)

I went to breakfast with my sister and BIL on Saturday, and did some laundry and bought a few groceries on Sunday, and that's about it. I felt really ill yesterday and was hoarse. I think I'm coming down with something, bad headache right now. I hope it's a 24 hr thing:)

Cassie, I am so glad Hope is adjusting to her new home. I am sure she is good company for you as you go through your treatments. I know my cat was my best buddy on my bad days when I was home alone because hubby was at work. CD was just a kitten and was rather entertaining

I had a nice lunch with my friends. Karen starts a new job with the post office tomorrow. She has been unemployed for more then a year. Mary is retired and enjoying it.

We just came in for visiting the sheep we let them into the little area behind the barn and they are happily grazing away.

Well it's back tomorrow and a long day on Monday.

Take care.

Julie

Julie, Hope seems to be adjusting pretty well. She's relaxing and happy with us. She still has some separation anxiety, but that will just take time to work through, I think. Overall, she's a sweet, mellow dog and I'm glad she's home with us. :)

Ida, I will keep you in my prayers.

Cassie and Cheri, you sound like you are doing well.

Cassie, how is Hope adjusting to her new life?

I had a nice day yesterday at Lady's Day Away. I worked on my rug all morning then spent the afternoon spinning. It was a small group but we had a lot of fun. When I got home we went and got groceries.

I am going out to lunch with a couple friends today. I am trying to get as much of the laundry down before I leave.

Have a great week.

Ida, I'm sorry your DH is not doing well. And your heart surgery is coming up fast! My prayers are with you and everyone on this team!
Cheri and Cassie, you are both doing so well with the chemo and the side effects! It sounds like you both are doing better than I did when I went through it:)
Shari, thanks for letting me know about Kay! I will check out her blog.

CheriAnn, is it the The Cancer-Fighting Kitchen, by chance? A friend lent me her copy, and my mom liked it so much she bought a copy for herself so that she could try some recipes out for me. I'm lazy about trying to play with lemon juice, salt, etc. but I think you're right that it would probably help. :)

I got in a good walk today with DH and Hope. It is nice to be feeling better as each day goes by, and I still have about 12 or so before round 4!

emoticon to the team Ramona!

I am in my good weeks. Yesterday and today got some good workouts in..am going to walk/exercise for longer periods and see if I can build some strength. Can't go too crazy yet, but do feel as though I am gaining ground. I lost so much with the back to back surgeries!

Took in a rugby game today..was a bit chilly, but nice. Then went out to eat. I have not been bothered with off tastes since the first couple of chemos. Cassie I have a cancer cookbook and they suggest playing with citrus/sweet/sour tastes to see what appeals to you. They say sometimes just a drop of those flavors can make food taste better. In fact I have an extra cookbook - if you Sparkmail me your address I will send you the extra one I have!

Tomorrow is Sunday School/church. May try a short workout and then some rest before I go back in to work for the next couple of weeks. Need to get the office back in shape for the next time chemo happens on the 30th. That week I am off things slide a bit. That's the hardest part for me ....not being able to be at the top of my game. The forgetfulness, not being able to come up with the right words right after chemo, etc. Not being able to run the office - the church relies on me to keep things running smoothly and that has not been the case lately. I hate that! Three more to go and then we will see where we go from there.

Going to schedule a Dr appt. as my Oncologist wants me to have a flu shot and I still have not scheduled my annual physical with my reg. Dr. which was due in Sept. Hope I can get in!

Julie ~That sounds like one scary ride! So glad the car is repaired! Hope you don't have any more issues with it!

Ida~Hope your DH is doing better! Way to go on the walking!

Ida, good job on walking even while you are taking care of DH! How is he doing anyways? How are you doing with the extra stress and all?

We have anew member, but I haven't seen her post here yet, so let's give her a warm welcome and invite her to post to the board, okay?

I went to breakfast with my sister and BIL and had a good time! Good food too! But a lot of calories:( We did some extra walking though, that might help a little.lol

Cassie and Shari, all my food tasted different too. Some things I loved didn't taste good anymore and foods that I really don't like, I had a craving for:) At least your taste buds should go back to normal after your done with treatment.
Anyone heard from Kay?

Cassie, I had changes in the way food tasted also. Chocolate nauseated me and soda tasted metallic.

My colonocsopy went OK,because of the surgery I have had it makes it more difficult to get the scope to where she wanted it, but after a lot of rolling and pushing she was able to get started. She removed one small polyp. She said it wasn't anything to be concerned about. Depending on the type I will be back in 5 or 10 years. I'm feeling ok, just tried.

Tomorrow is Lady's Day Away and I am planing on going. I am going to take my braided rug and spinning wheel instead of my sewing machine.

Have a great weekend.

Julie

Cassie, when I first had chemo 11 years ago, it changed flavors for me too. I couldn't drink my water plain, but I found if I put flavoring in my water, such as lemon juice, it would take the "metallic" taste out of the water.

It's very windy here today, and turning colder; we had a nice stretch of weather over the past week where it was fairly warm for October, and staying in the 50s-60s at night, but tonight, it's supposed to go down into the 40's.

Julie, good luck with the colonoscopy. My DH had one done earlier this summer and it all went easily. Have you had one before?

Sue, I hope you'll go out and enjoy a walk today. :)

Shari, I hope the x-rays will help reveal the problem too.

Hope everyone else is doing OK. I'm 8 days out from my last infusion and doing alright. I have an ever-present stomach ache - not nausea, more of an irritated, upset stomach. But I can still eat, so I do. Things taste off still, even water, so that makes it hard to get too excited about eating. But I'm doing my best to avoid losing weight and muscle mass in particular.

Ida, how are you doing with the walking? I have improved a little since getting the activity tracker:)
Julie, preparing for the colonoscopy is worse than the procedure itself! I feel bad for you!
Cheri and Cassie, how are you feeling? I hope you're both doing okay!
Shari, I have been having sinus problems too. I thought the rain would clear all that up, but it doesn't seem to help:)
Kay, are you still traveling? Hope you're having too much fun to post:)
Peaches, how are you today?

My coworker quit the other day, and I was really worried about the extra work, but my brother said she really didn't do that much so there's not a lot to do extra now that she's gone. Which is why she quit. He was going to fire her anyways, and I think she knew it. I don't think she really understood what her job was anyways, or else she just didn't care. I really liked her as a person, but she did not do her job, and what she did do, we had to correct all the time.

Well, today is Friday once again, and the weather is cooler, and I have the tracker now, so I should do better this weekend! I have gained a couple of pounds and I am back in the 160's again-sigh- I have to get back down to the 150's, I felt so much better when I was there before:)

Julie, it will be good to know your car is safe for the upcoming winter.

I had a good appointment at the pain clinic; I'll be getting some x-rays to take another look at my hip. Not getting my hopes up, but hopefully it's something that can be helped with injections.

This afternoon I have my followup with the gastro doctor. Once that is done, I don't have any other appointments except for my chemo and Neulasta injections until December.

I had a pretty good day.

My car should be fixed by tomorrow. They said the issue with my car going was some corrosion on the wires and connections that they cleaned up. I had them check into a noise in the front end. It was the bearing going bad. They fixed the one side and found the passenger side was going bad so they fixing the other side also. I hope this is the end of the car problems and we are set for the winter.

I went out to watch the sheep for a while this evening. I find it relaxing.

Take care everyone!

It's still kind of gray here today, but no rain so far today. I can't really complain though, even though it's cloudy, the temps are fairly warm for this time of the year, 50s and 60s. The only thing I'm not liking about the weather is that it triggered a sinus headache! It's not a full blown headache now though, just starting. I'm hoping it will ease up by the time I have my appointment at the pain clinic this afternoon.

Well I had a nerve racking drive home from orchestra last night. It was pouring rain and really hard to see the road. The leak in the car got really bad water has dripping along the top of the windshield. We made it back to Nancy's where I dropped her off, as I dropped her off my dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree and I still had 13 miles to drive to get home. My car was really slow to gain speed after stopping. I made it home safely. We just dropped off the car off to get it fixed. I was praying all the way to the garage. I made it without any trouble. It was an appointment with the body shop next to see if resetting the windshield will stop the leak.

We are supposed to have another day of rain, then get nice again.

Today, work went well. I am starting to adjust my diet for my colonoscopy I have on Friday. I will be glad when it is over with. It is just my routine exam.

Take care everyone.

Julie

I have to say, I'm jealous of those of you getting rain! We could really use some in CA. I would love a few days of cloudy, rainy weather.

CheriAnn, I hope it all goes OK today with the dentist.

Sue, glad to hear you're walking more! That is great. So good for us to get out and move every day.

Julie, hope the evening of music was fun.

Shari, I'm sorry to hear about the anxiety, and the fatigue. And the steroids too - I really hate the steroids.

CheriAnn, I hope it all goes well at the dentist.

Dismal weather here today too, it's raining quite heavily at the moment. I'm very glad that I can just stay home today.

Cassie~ I am right there with you this week. Have to rest often as my legs just feel wonky and I start feeling really weak. Hopefully this afternoon and tomorrow get much better. The weather being dismal hasn't helped either. It has been stormy the last couple days and dark -that doesn't help.

Dentist follow up this afternoon. I will be out and about, so we will see how I do with that. Well I have been sitting for a while, going to try and get up and do something. I may try and walk this afternoon - haven't been able to do that this cycle. Don't know if that has made the crash worse or not...

Hi everyone!
Peaches, good luck on your test results! The waiting is the hardest part:(
Cassie, it's probably good you had a bit of a melt down. It lets you get it all out and you'll probably feel better now:)
Shari, I remember taking the steroids too, and I felt really strong and healthy when I was on them, but the crash afterwards is really hard! I think they will make you feel better though:)
I am walking more since getting my activity tracker. It does motivate me:)

My day went fairly well, but the weather is crappy. It is cool and rainy. It's my turn to drive for orchestra but my car is a little wet because there is a leak some where. The only place it gets wet is the passenger side floor. I have an old towel to put on the floor to soak up the water,

Have a great evening, I will be having fun playing music.

emoticon Cassie.

I had my teaching appointment at the cancer center this afternoon. It went pretty well. I found out that I will be getting steroids with my chemo; not too thrilled when I found that out, but I'm glad I found that out ahead of time instead of being surprised with it next week.

Still dealing with a lot of fatigue, but my heart rate has been on the fast side lately too, a little more often than usual. I'm sure that is making me more tired, and it's probably a little anxiety over starting the new chemo.

I'm feeling a little better this morning, but still not great. I had a bit of a meltdown last night. The combination of not feeling good, physically, plus all the emotional stuff, is really getting me down. I feel like the world is passing me by while all I can do is lie on the couch or my bed and wait for time to pass. I found myself really angry this weekend, for the first time in a long time. The tension doesn't help my headaches, either. Ugh! I know I'll start feeling better, but these first few days after chemo are hard.

Cassie, and Cheri, I hope you are resting and feeling better from your treatments.

Sue, I'm on an oral med that I take daily. The main side effect is weight gain, which is part of the reason I am really struggling to loose weight. I have been on the drug for over 3 years but it seems to be keeping my cancer under control.

I had a really nice weekend. Most of yesterday was taken up with the wedding. I left home around 1 and got home around 7. Today we went and did some shopping then came home and did laundry and sewed. Eric and I just got back from a short walk then did chores. I am heading back up to finish laundry and for a bit more sewing.

Take care everyone!

Hope everyone is doing well! I went to church this morning with my best friend and it was so nice! My prayers are with all of you that are going through so much.
Cheri, Cassie, Shari, I hope you're feeling better today and you were able to rest.
Ida, good job on the walking!
Julie, I never realized you were still going through treatment?
Kay, wondering if you are back from your travels?
I have to figure out how to turn off the touch pad! Everytime I accidentally touch the darn thing with the palm of my hand, which is every time I type! It jumps the mouse all over, it's really frustrating and makes me not want to type at all.
I have to figure it out, My other computer had an f key to turn it off and on, it was real easy:)

Thinking or you Cassie - my worst days are the next few. We will see how they go, usually no energy and the bone aches/neuropathy. Usually try and walk some though as it seems to me it helps get things out of my system quicker (at least that's what I tell myself!).

Need to get some rest now myself!

Julie, I'm glad it went well with your appointment!

And emoticon for Cassie and CheriAnn being halfway done with treatment!

Cassie, I've never had the Neulasta before, but I had Neupogen 11 years ago, which is a similar drug. The Neupogen shot though is one I had to get daily at that time, for 1-2 weeks at a time depending on what my WBC were. I did have bone pain from it, but somehow I got through it, and I was still working at the time. I can't take Claritin though, because I can't tolerate the side effects from it, so I'm hoping the pain pills I am already on will help with pain from the Neulasta.

I missed checking in again yesterday, for some reason, I was just dragged out tired again; I'm thinking it was some lingering effects from my flu shot.

I slept well last night as well - a nice change! A change in diet has helped with the constipation, I could only eat soft foods with the tooth -that seems to have helped. I see the oral surgeon on Tues. I hope the bone pain is not too bad that day....I forgot about that when we made the appointment. DH has an appointment that morning too since he is having issues with a root canal. We will see what they say about his.

Went thru a couple rooms completely looking for some lost items...they were found!! Such a relief!

I may try to do some more cleaning -got wardrobe switched out. Summer clothes all put away, fall and winter clothes down from upstairs (we have very small closets in our old house). I don't work at all this week so I can do rooms at my own pace. Honestly it is feeling good to get things in more order than they have been lately. Two surgeries back to back really limits a person - it is good to feel a bit stronger!
Got in a walk today and a nap!

Going to a birthday party for a favorite aunt tomorrow for a little bit. Should be fun seeing the part of the family we don't get to see often.

Thinking of all the needs mentioned on our team.......praying for you all!

Cassie, I am glad you feeling well, following your treatment.

I just got back from my 6 month check up with my oncologist. Every thing is looking good. we are going to keep going with the treatment I am on. I go back in April, unless I have problems.

It is off to bowling.

Have a great weekend.

I'm feeling pretty good this morning. I didn't have any insomnia to speak of from the steroids this time around and slept until 5am, so that really helps. I'm having a green smoothie for breakfast, something that hasn't sounded good for weeks and weeks. I was having one just about daily starting last January. My dad is here to help out this weekend, when the bone pain sets in from the Neulasta shot. It's good to have an extra set of hands around. All in all, everything went perfectly yesterday. But it's a long day (9-2:30) and I was tired yesterday afternoon when I got home.

Cassie and Cheri, I hope everything goes well after your chemo treatments.

Shari, I hope you are feeling better.

I had my flu shot on Monday. They come right to work and set up in a conference room. We fill out some paper work and they charge your insurance.

I have my 6 month checkup with my oncologist tomorrow afternoon. I have been feeling pretty good so hopefully nothing shows up on my chest x-ray.

I had a good evening at quartet practice tonight. We are playing for an outdoor wedding on Saturday. It could be a bit chilly as the high is only going to be mid 50's.

Take care everyone !

Shari I hope you are feeling better. 3rd infusion went well. I am now halfway through. I have two in Oct so after this month I will only have two to go!! WooHoo!!

Don't know what they are thinking of doing in aftercare at all...we will see. So glad to be at this point and that all went well with this infusion. Am tired tonight. Think I need to take a small nap!

Everything was good yesterday and I'm currently getting my third infusion.

Shari, the Neulasta shot has worked really well for me so far. Have you had it before? If not, ask about taking Claritin to help with the possible side effect of bone pain. I hope you're feeling better today. I'm getting a flu shot on the 22nd.

Ida, it sounds like you have a great doctor!

Cassie, that is great news about Hope, and I hope your blood counts are ok today!

CheriAnn, I'm glad to hear that there is no cancer in you lymph nodes!

Sue, I read your blog and commented there.

Sorry I missed checking in yesterday; just did not feel good yesterday. I was very achy all over and had chills, and so very tired. I think it was from the flu shot I had Tuesday.

The social worker from the cancer center called me yesterday and we had a nice talk. I found out that I will actually be starting chemo on the 21st, and after each treatment, I will have to go back and get a Neulasta shot to keep my WBCs from getting too low. I still have my "teaching" appointment to go on Monday.

Cassie, I bet Hope will adjust to you quickly. I am still dealing with my moms cat adjusting to our house. He does pretty well but for our cat. There are a few kitty growls still.

Sue, I think I would have left the team if some one took over and changed everything I had set up. I bet it feels good to know what has been causing some of you problems and I hope they get on it and get things scheduled for you.

I had a good day at work. We came home and put dinner in the oven then headed out for walk. It is a nice evening and we probably won't have to many more where I will be able to walk outdoors.

Take care everyone.

So Sue, what do you think you'll do? I'm glad you're getting some answers and possible solutions.

Well tomorrow I start the premeds in prep for chemo Thurs. Cassie, I will be halfway as well. Got some very good news today. The pathology results (2nd opinion) came in and I do not have cancer in my lymph node. I have been downgraded to Stage 2(was stage 3c)!!

Praising God! I feel so much better knowing it was not in any lymph nodes! Doing ok with the tooth healing. Can only eat soft foods yet...hope I can eat normally soon! I think tomorrow I can do without any pain meds....I hope to anyway. I will take one last one tonight. I do look a bit swollen, but they say day 2-3 brings swelling and bruising so that is to be expected.
