Sue, I hope you get some answers and thanks for all the D names. I like Daisy and Daffodil.

Sheri, Delphina sounds like a good name also.

I had a pretty good day but I am looking forward to the weekend.

Take care everyone!

Sue, I hope they can find the cause of your fatigue and that it is something easily treatable.

Julie, one of the "D" names I was thinking about was Delphina.

Prayers for you and your family, Cheri! I hope the family comes back together during this time especially.

I have to get another chest xray, and my blood work was different this time. The nurse actually marked 3 things on the results and white count is a little high, and red count a little low. Nothing to be alarmed about though. I feel something is going on since I am so tired all the time and feel like I'm getting sick constantly.

I haven't been exercising or eating right for the past 2 days but hope to exercise this morning.

Julie, there are so many names that start with a D! Diane, Donna, David, Dillion,Dusty,Donnie,Danny,Deidra,Darling,
Dorothy,Denise,Denny,Destiny,Delbert, Debbie,Della,Daffy,Darlene, Darla, Dennis, and on and on. lol

Ida, you are doing so well with the walking and exercise! Good job!

Well, if I'm going to exercise, I better get started, oh yeah, we have at least 3 new members! I hope they post here so we can get to know them:)

Christian is starting his chemo today...they still don't know what stage he is at...I am trying to be supportive and informational to his Mom and not overwhelm her...please pray that God gives me wisdom for this.

I have been so tired this week....trying to do too much in one day for the first three days of the week when I have the car. I slept late today....I don't ever sleep until 10am! Not doing much of anything today. On the computer trying to get info on Chris...My nephew and his son have been estranged a lot of his life. His sister keeps us in contact with Chris and he comes to a lot of the family gatherings. I have a good relationship with them, but not a close one by any means..hoping that this changes and I can help.

My day started with a workout at 5:00 am. I changed to five to help out one of my trainers other clients. Work has been frustrating but I am slowly working through the data I have to review.

Sue, you are correct we will be naming this years lambs with D names. I have few names but will take suggestions.

I am going to spend some time tonight spinning.

Take care every one.

Ida, I hope you are able to get another opinion! You sound like you have a good doctor to suggest that you do that! My thoughts and prayers are with you!

Kay, I hope your mom is home now, and back to where she wants to be. That's wonderful that someone is able to stay with her while she is in the hospital but hope she can go home now:)

Julie, shearing time again all ready! When they lamb this year, do you have your "D" names ready? I think you are the D's anyhow, if I remember right:)

Shari, I hope your counts are up and you are feeling better!

Cheri and Cassie, how are you doing?

I thought I ate pretty well yesterday but it still was 1400 and some calories! At least I'm eating healthier though:) My Dr. appointment is this afternoon. I have to get my port flushed and refill my meds, and see the doctor for the results of my chest xray. I read them online though, and nothing stood out, so I'm sure I'm fine. I do think I will have to get blood work done too which is no big deal, but it has been awhile now.

Evening.....

Well my DR visit went well. She wants me to get another opinion before I have surgery. She does not want to do it up here because of my heart condition. She said if my heart stops that our hospital would not be able to save me. She thinks that this other DR is in a rush to get the gallbladder out. That he should be doing a couple of test first. She said that if I was to have surgery that both should the bladder and the hernia should come out at the same time so the risk of heart failure would not be as hard on my heart. So I am waiting for this other DR's office to get in touch with me.

Otherwise I had a really good day.

CheriAnn, I will keep your nephew in my prayers.

Sue, I started the Halotestin around the last week of January, and I get an injection once every 2 weeks.

Still having a problem with fatigue even though it shouldn't be this bad with my blood counts where they are; hopefully, that will improve when my levels stop flucuating so much.

Kay, hoping for good news with your appointment tomorrow!

CheriAnn, I'm sorry to hear about your nephew. He is so young to be having to deal with all this.

Sue, way to go on getting more exercise. I really fell of the exercise wagon last month with the flu and power outage. Now with my mom in the hospital, I'm spending time there....so no exercise. The hope is she will be discharged tomorrow. My brother and I take turns (by day) sitting with Mom in the hospital. Tomorrow, I go to Nashville for my checkup with my MO. I'm hoping it will be a boring visit, but I have to talk to her about a lump on my scar. It was biopsied about six months ago and determined to be fat necrosis. I hope it still is, but I want them to do an ultrasound on it at a minimum. It feels harder and the area is tender. Blah! The good news is that I don't feel I have any systemic issues that I need to tell her about.

Shari, I hope that you are having an okay day today. I'm so glad to hear that your hemoglobin isn't going down as fast. That's a step in a good direction.

Kay from Tennessee

Oh Cheri, that is awful! I will be praying for your nephew! That is so young. Hopefully, his youth will help him bounce back from this after the treatment!
Ida, congratulations on the weight loss! That is awesome!
Kay, so glad to hear your mom is okay, and your power is back on. I sure hope she can go back to her own home again, and glad it is assisted living too!
Shari, how are you feeling? I can't believe it takes 3 months to work! How long has it been now? I hope it starts working soon.
Julie, I'm glad you got a lot done with your hobbies! It sure sounds like fun!

I have been exercising a lot more now, but I'm still not eating right. I hope to eat better this month and maybe lose a couple of pounds:)
I see the doctor tomorrow. I hope to get a referral to a gastroenterologist ( I hope that's right)! My stomach is so messed up and I have been having a lot of problems lately.
Hope everyone has a good day!

Shari~ I hope things just keep getting better for you!

I just got a text yesterday that my nephews son was rushed to a hospital -they think he has lymphoma and probably will start chemo in a couple of days. He is 18 yrs old. That was a bit of a shock!

Kay, I just read your blog emoticon

I had my weekly CBC done today, it was actually good today! My hemoglobin was at 10.6, which is only down 10.9 from last week, so maybe, the Halotestin is starting to work.

Hi All,
I can't remember the last time I posted here about my power outage saga. We got the power back at our house seven days after the ice storm. We moved back into our house on Saturday. That night, my mom had a heart attack! She is okay. Our issue now is whether or not she will be able to go back to assisted living. I'm not sure at this point. The social worker at the hospital is working with us to try to figure out if she can go back, and if now...where will she go. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she can just go back to her apartment in assisted living. If not...ugh!

I had a nice relaxing weekend. I finished my star quilt top, knitted and spun, finishing up a skein of yarn. I have two skeins of yarn drying after setting the twist. I am almost out of yarn so I needed to get some made.

I hope everyone has a great week!

Well it is the first of the month. Starting out good. I am down 2 .2 pounds, had a great sermon at church plus great fellowship. Had a healthy dinner and lunch and got a little rest in. The sun was out but cold.

Cheri Ann, I hope you have relaxing weekend.

I spent the morning sewing and doing laundry.

It has been cold here still. The water at the barn is frozen so hubby had to get water for the sheep in the house. It is supposed to be warmer tomorrow, so hopefully we can get the water working.

Take care.

CheriAnn, I hope you get a chance to rest and relax this weekend!

I'm working on getting my laundry done right now, I'll probably need a nap later. I'm going to have to start setting an alarm for my naps though, otherwise, I will nap for way too long and it makes it hard to get to sleep at night. Still trying to figure out what time of the day works best for me for my naps.

I had not realized it had been so long since I posted....sometimes I just read the posts and go on as the days have been busy.

I had lunches last week with a friend and her husband and then the next day I had a massage scheduled and went to the Chiropractor afterwards. The days are long since we are out of the house at 6:30am to get DH to work and then I come home and get the dog ready for me to leave and then I head to work..I try to do my errands after work and then pick DH up for work. After we get supper I am beat! I don't know how long I am going to be patient with one car down....he has not decided what he wants to do about the situation.

This week I had lunch with my Mom and her sisters and a couple of cousins yesterday. My favorite aunt was up from TX for testing as she has Parkinsons. It was a nice visit but every time I see my aunt she is more frail and that saddens me. She was worried about me! I spent many summers at her house....she is quite a bit younger than my Mother so she was always the cool aunt. Today was breakfast with a couple of friends. It is nice to see these people but I am getting worn out as I have no time to nap and just relax. I don't have anything this coming week so it will be easier.

Kay~ I do hope your power is on sometime today!!
Ida~ Praying you have a successful surgery with no complications and that you heal quickly and well! I seem to think that operation was fairly easy on me and I was back at work within a couple of weeks.
Shari~Praying you see some increased stamina with the new drug soon...
Cassie~ Glad to hear you are doing well.
Julie~ Have fun bowling...I have not done that in a long time. DH may not be able to do that as his hands are giving him a hard time, as a maintenance man that is a problem.
Sue~ I hope you are doing well - I nap as often as I can!!

Hi everyone. I've been reading but not posting. My thoughts are with all of you - power issues, surgeries, fatigue, flu, etc. etc. I'm doing ok and glad for the weekend to be here! It was my birthday earlier this week, and we may go out for a dessert this weekend to extend the celebration. :)

Shari, I bet The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks was fascinating. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I need to download it onto my Kindle.

Sue, I've been sleeping a lot too, but I think it's my body's way of trying to get rid of this flu once and for all. The worst part was over about a week ago, but my husband and I keep coughing and coughing. That part just wants to hang on.

We are on Day 7 now without power. My neighbor knows someone at the electric company that has told her our houses are "next on the list." We are hoping they might be able to work on them this afternoon. I am so ready to go back home.

Kay, I just finished The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, it was a fascinating book. Now I am getting ready to start The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd.

Thank you Sue; I slept a little better last night but still tired. I know I have to be more patient for the Halotestin to start working. I did some more research on it online, and I read that it can take up to 3 months to start working.

Hello everyone! I'm sorry I have not been on here much lately.
Kay, I hope your power is on soon and you can go back home!
Ida, I'm sorry to hear about your upcoming surgery and wishing you the best.
Shari, hope you are feeling better too!
Cassie, glad to hear your rads aren't too bad.
Julie, hope you got that pile off your desk:)
Cheri, how are you doing?

I have been sleeping a lot, as usual! I've got to get a life and stop sleeping my life away:)

2015 is the year that I want to stop recovering and start living again!

I have been laying in bed, recovering from cancer, chemo and radiation and all it's side effects for 2 years.
I feel I have 'recovered' now and it's time to move on!

We are on day 7 without power. So glad we made the decision to stay at a local timeshare the temperatures have been unusually cold here the past few days which I'm sure slows down the electric company. As of this morning, 15% of the people on my side of town still don't have power. We are in that "lucky" group. I think the problem for us is that there are only 3 houses impacted by the broken pole and lines that keep us from getting power. I think we are on the bottom of the list for repairs. It's supposed to warm up here on Monday, so we will probably go back to our house then....power or not.

Ida, I hope your are able to get your surgery closer to home. I had my gall bladder out years ago (laproscopic). It wasn't too difficult of a surgery. I only felt bad for about two days afterward...and even then, it wasn't really bad. I hope the same is true for you too and that it solves your problems.

Shari, I'm glad you don't have to go anywhere today. Are you reading something you are enjoying? I just finished All the Light We Cannot See. It's a sad, but wonderful book.

Julie, what instrument do you play in your group? I imagine the music is so lovely.

Kay, I hope you get your power back on soon.

I didn't sleep much last night, so I took a long nap today. Today has kind of been a "lost" day but I hope to get back on track tomorrow. I guess I am still worn out from 3 days in a row on being "on the go" out in very cold weather.

The sun is out now and it stopped snowing

Well my trip to Boise did not turn out like I expected. Instead of Hiatal Hernia surgery I will be having my Gallbladder taken out first. Right now it is for March 16th. I am checking with the surgeon up here where I live to see if we can get it done at the local hospital here. I will see her on March 3rd. I like the hospital down there but it would be such a long drive home after, being it is done as a out patient and you do home the same day. Driving 110 miles as a passenger not feeling good I don not think would be a great thing. I will keep you posted as to what is going on. The DR in Boise wants some tests done before I have Hiatal Hernia surgery any way.

Cassie, I'm glad the rads are going well. I didn't have any skin problems until right at the very end. My main problem was being tired. I finally gave in and started taking a nap after each zap. It helped a lot.

We are on day 6 without power now. I'm just very grateful to be in the timeshare we are renting, but it is getting expensive. If this goes on much longer, we will probably make other arrangements.

Good luck, Ida.

To all dealing with cold weather and all it brings, I hope you get some relief soon!

I'm still doing well overall. Work is good, and so far radiation has been fine. 10 down, 25 to go.

Hit my goal weight 9/16/11 and aim to remain there for good!

Kay, being without power is not fun. A year ago my brother and sister were without power over Christmas. We spent a night at my moms without power then took her and headed home to Wisconsin.

Shari, I hope your drugs kick in soon.

I went back to work today after having a few days off. My desk is piled pretty high. It will be next week before I get caught up.

Take care!

Julie

Julie, a large print Bible is such a nice idea for your mom.

Ida, I hope the doc has a good plan for you.

Shari, you deserve extra credit for making all those doctor's appointments in such bitter cold weather. Even with all your fatigue, you are one strong lady!

Our power has been out since an ice storm on Friday night. We stayed in the house the first couple days, but it has gotten too cold in there now. Last night, we decided to check into a local timeshare a couple blocks from our house. Right as we were packing up to go over there (in the dark), we discovered a chipmunk had gotten into our house. What a mess! We were able to trap it this afternoon so that is good. We think it may be at least another week before we have power. The good news is that this timeshare has a kitchen so we can store our food in the fridge and cook meals here. I am very grateful for that.

It's been kind of a rough couple weeks....

I had an oncologist appointment this morning; even though the Halotestin hasn't worked yet on the blood counts, he believes that given more time, it will start working. There really isn't anything else he can do for the anemia and the fatigue, so I am praying that it will kick in and start working like he believes it will. I see him again in 6 weeks.

We had the day off to recover from the traveling. We went out for breakfast then did some running around. It doesn't seem cold until the wind blows. I hadn't gotten my mom a birthday present because I was waiting to see what she needed at the assisted living. She is going to a bible study each week and the bible she had I could hardly read, so I got here a giant print bible and sent it off to her today she should have by the end of the week.

I spent time sewing today while I did laundry. I got my blocks done for the quilt I am working on.

I hope everyone is doing well and staying warm.

We made it up to 23 today, but it doesn't feel much warmer than yesterday with the wind. It's snowing and blowing and we are under a winter weather advisory til 7pm. Had to go out again this morning, this time it was an appointment with my internist.

It is cold here also in Idaho. It is only 9 degrees at 8am.
Hope we all can stay warm.

You need to invest in a generator for days and weeks like you are having. It is worth it even if you only have to use it once or twice a year. It sure does pay off.

Kay, I'm sorry you are without power, but having hot water is so important! At least you can warm up in the shower if you get too cold. It is freezing here this morning too. We are at 32 degrees which is nothing compared to you all, but for us in CA that is something we are not used to.
Shari, I'm glad you got your groceries while you were out. How could you even go outside when it is only 8F? I don't think I could do it:)
Julie, how cool to get your mother's hummels and curio cabinet, and helping her out at the same time. I hope she does well in the assisted living facility! So glad you had a good visit.
My son came over last night and we watched Survivor, and old season, the new one begins tomorrow night:)

Kay, I hope you have your power back.

Shari, I hope you are feeling better.

We made it home this afternoon from Michigan it was -12 when we left Flint and was up to 12 when we got home, but it was cold while we unloaded the car. We went over to visit mom and start cleaning her home out and get it ready for selling. We worked mainly in the basement and filled the recycle bin in the first half our with old magazines. We found some neat things while going through boxes, which included a picture of my dad in his aviator jacket and helmet that we had sent to his parents. It was from WW2. There was also a picture of him in his uniform.

I am getting my moms curio cabinet. I wanted the cabinet but my brother and sister said I also yet everything that was in it so I bought three boxes of hummels home. While cleaning the basement we found boxes for almost all of the hummels.

We had a good visit with mom on Sunday. We had lunch with her at the center she is living in, then spent the afternoon playing cards with her.

I am tired after 7.5 hours in the car.

Take care!

Julie

That is why you need a gas generator. We bought one so when the power is out we can run our ref, freezer and some lights. Stay warm and I know what you are going through.

Thank you Kay; I'm still having to take afternoon naps, but not feeling as weak as I was before.
I saw your picture of the ice on your window on Facebook, I'm sorry to hear that you still do not have power. There's never really a "good" time to be without power in the winter, but I'm so sorry it happened when you and your husband aren't feeling well.

It was - 24 when I got up this morning, and so far, it's only made it up to 8F. I had to go out this morning though, as I have to have my blood counts checked on Mondays, and while I was out anyway, I decided to get my groceries today too.

Hi All,
We had a massive ice storm two days ago and we are without power. At the height of the storm, 90% of our county was without power. Now, it is down to about a third of the county. Lucky us....we are part of the group still without power. Fortunately, we have a gas fireplace, a gas stove top and best of all....a gas water heater! We can take hot showers! The house is cold and dark at night and we will probably have to throw out everything in the freezer. It's supposed to be very cold the next couple days. Cracker Barrel has been packed. Hubby and I are hanging out at the library this morning recharging our phones and my Kindle. Hubby and I are both getting over the flu, so these last couple weeks have been rough (relatively speaking).

I'm starting to think we should have stayed in Florida for another month!

Shari, I hope your transfusion gives you a boost for a while. Thinking of you.

Hugs to all...

Kay

It is so cold this morning! We have a lot of wind and that makes it even colder. I know compared to all of you, our temps are probably warm, but I'm not used to this and I'm freezing:)

My DD and I went to JC Penny's and she got me a free face cleaning kit with her JC Penny's points. I wanted to try it, but it was really expensive, then she found out she could get the smaller starter kit for free for me try!
Afterwards we went to her house, and she made me a really healthy sandwich, and I walked on the treadmill for 6 minutes. I also got a light sweatshirt, and some shower lotion. We had a really good day!

How is everyone? I hope you all are staying warm and have a great day!

Shari, I'm so glad you're okay! I'm sorry you have to go through so much, so often!
Ida, I have a hiatal hernia too, and I know what you mean. You never know if it's your heart of the hernia, but since you already have heart problems, that would be particularly scary!
Julie, hope you are able to go on your trip. Be safe. I'm glad you got your car taken care of first!
Kay, thanks for the link, but I couldn't get it to work. I would like to see that:)
Cheri, I'm glad you enjoyed the time with your friends!
I got my new mattress and I find myself all stretched out when I wake up and it's so comfortable! Yesterday, I watched movies all day and it was nice. I don't usually watch movies, and I don't know why b/c I really enjoyed watching them! I saw the movie, Lucy, and it was really good! I also watched Catching Fire, and now I can't wait to see MockingJay.
I hope you all find a way to stay warm! I see so much on the news about the severity of all the snow and cold temps!

Ida, I hope having the hernia taken care of makes you feel better. I have GERD, and I know have chest pain from that, and you are right, you can't always be sure if it's because of the heart or something else.

Doing better today, I don't know how long the good effects of this transfusion will last, but I will make the most of my good days.

Been busy this morning. Got the oil changed in my car and yesterday I got the tires changed over from snow to regular ones. Wed I head to Boise to see the surgeon on what is going to be done with the Hiatal Hernia. My heart DR and pain DR plus my regular DR wants something done with it. A lot of times I do not know if it is the hernia or I am having heart problems. They both give the same symptoms. I will find out on WED, no sense in worrying about it non. God will take care of it.

Have a good weekend and stay warm if you are in the cold belt right now.
