More water aerobics today and last odds and ends for my daughters' big trip. We are going out for one last family dinner Wednesday evening before she leaves, at the Reunion Tower in Dallas ( about 45 mins from my home) - never been in there before - that's the tower when you see the skyline of Dallas that has the giant ball on top that is illuminated at night. There is a restaurant up there that revolves so you get the 360 view. I hope I make good food choices.

Tomorrow I will be taking my son and 2 of his friends to the community pool all day so I will try to stop by tomorrow morning.

Worked out at the dead garden to pull up all the plants that died. I may try some quick growing things. I just have to find out what grows quick.

My daughter has something similar to Chron's, and she is fatigued a lot also. I think it does go with the territory unfortunately.

Shari, good luck with your scan!

Kay, I remember when my doctors thought I might have had IBD, I was doing some reading online about the symptoms and I remember fatigue being mentioned for Chron's. I hope the doctors can help with the cause and get you feeling better.

I really struggled with fatigue this weekend; I think it was a combination of the weather changing and my sleep schedule being screwed up. I feel much better today.

Tomorrow is the oncologist appointment I am a bit anxious about; we'll be going over my scan results.

Wow! That's a lot of plants, that's really too bad, Ida. All that good food, ruined by the frost! We are going to cool off to only about 99 degrees today. haha! How can they even say, "cooler" when it's still 99 degrees? They should say it's not going to be as hot, but in no way does cool and 99 degrees go together.lol

Sue........
The cool temps in the morning is nice, but by 8am it is up to about 50. Then it goes up to in the 90's. I have some indoor garden but not the verity I had outdoors. I lost 40 plants. Green beans, 2 different squash, beets, radish, green onions, corn, lettuce, tomatoes, pumpkins, and watermelon.
We should not have that low of temp in July. That happens in Sept. Hope you are doing well and had a good weekend.

Alison, I am so happy for your daughter but understand your anxiety! What a great opportunity for her! It's good that you went in 1988 because at least you have an idea of what it will be like for your daughter. The rainforest would be awesome! We have been in a drought for so long that going to a rainforest sounds like heaven;)

Kay, I got more and more tired with every month that passed AFTER I finished treatment. I was walking, and even cleaning at my sisters, and we would do things together, but when I got my own place, that''s when I got where I was just too tired to go anywhere or do anything. And when I did go somewhere, it would wear me out the rest of the day. I hope it's not like that for you!

Julie, that historical society sounds so interesting! I love that you get to see demonstrations of how they used to do things in the 'good old days'! Yesterday, my son and I were talking about the things that were invented in my mom's day, and how they were so common place in our day, then I realized the things that were invented in my day, that were so common place to him in his day. It was fun thinking about:)

Shari, I'm afraid to look up too much on the internet! I wouldn't look up anything cancer related when I was first diagnosed, then one day I did, and it said with my kind of cancer, I only had about a year to live. It scared the crap out of me ( excuse my language)! I was upset and told myself that I would not look things up again on there! It is good to find out about medicine though. They said my insurance doesn't cover my Advair and they were trying to get me cymbalta instead, what??? I looked up cymbalta, and it is for anxiety!? Advair is the medicine I inhale twice a day so I can breathe! Nothing to do with anxiety or fibromyalgia! I think someone made a mistake somewhere!

Ida, you do still have your indoor garden, don't you? That's too bad about your outdoor garden! But I bet it's nice to have the cooler weather at the end of July:)

Alison, what a great opportunity for your daughter. I am,also glad you enjoyed your class.

Kay, I like short and curly hair it is sooo easy to care for. I have never been one for long hair, it is too much work.

It has really cooled down here compared to yesterday, the breeze coming in the window is almost cold. We had a nice time at Old World Wisconsin. This out 3rd visit this summer. We joined the Wisconsin Historical Society so we get in free and it is only about an hour away from home. Today they were threshing rye using a steam thresher. It was interesting to watch. We mainly walked around the gardens they were so pretty and watched the farm animals, sheep, oxen, horses and pigs.

Have great week.

While I was going through treatment, I typically only left the house to go to the doctor, go to ballroom dancing once a week and meet with some girlfriends once a week. Other that that, the internet and the phone were my main contact with the outside world. I go out more now, but I still am so grateful for my Sparkfriends, particularly this team and a breast cancer team I belong to.

I'm still struggling with fatigue. I was getting much better, but about three weeks ago it started getting worse and I can't seem to shake it. I have an appointment with my GI doc on Thursday about my Crohn's disease and I'm going to ask her if she will run some blood tests just to see if there is anything noticably off there. I try to keep walking and I've been going to the easier aerobics classes, but my energy levels are very low.

Sue, I am very thankful for the internet, it's a way I can "socialize" when I can't get out of the house. And it when it's time for my scans, I am really glad I can turn to "Dr. Google" to look up terms that I don't know. (For example. without looking it up, I would not have known that "hepatic" means having to do with the liver.)

MSALICAT, what a wonderful opprotunity for your daughter! I will send up some prayers for safe travels for her.

SUE~I have a friend that was awesome from diagnosis thru my surgery - she did research for me, made me a list of questions to ask all the doctors etc... now the only time I speak with her is if I call her.... CLEAN - what IS clean, you are SO funny... Lately I'm proud when I can keep up with the dishes and laundry - !!

Water Aerobics went well and I wasn't as sore as I expected - felt it a bit in one of my incision sites and it is clear that my arms are my weak spot. I'm planning on going back tomorrow. I'm proud of myself for going - been wanting to go for a while and I guess I was just nervous about how I was going to feel after -

ANXIETY HAS SET IN - My daughter, who just turned 16, is leaving on a research trip to Costa Rica on Friday. ( 10 days) It's with an organization called Earthwatch. The organization matches up researchers with people around the world to help them with their field studies ( I went on an Earthwatch trip in 1988 - an Archeological Dig in France). My daughter is interested in Animal Science. Her trip will be in the Rainforest tracking animals and how they infiltrate the farmlands. She will be flying by herself with one plane change in Miami and will be picked up at the airport in Costa Rica by a team member. We've been getting ready for this trip for weeks - buying necessities, vaccinations etc... and it's getting close and my stomach is starting to do flips.

Shari, all you guys here are my inspiration! Sometimes my only contact with anyone through out the day on the weekends are my Spark friends, and I can tell you guys anything here and only get support and encouragement in return! I appreciate that you 'get it' when I talk about the loneliness and depression! i knew what you meant when you said you were lucky to have a friend with MS-silly girl:)

Kay, I am the same way about cleaning my apartment! I would die of embarrassment if someone, other than my son, came over because I sure don''t clean like I used to! I pick things up most of the time, but I rarely clean. I live in a studio apartment, which should be easy to keep clean, but when I moved in here, I was at the end of my chemo, and rarely cleaned. It is a catch 22, I want visitors, yet I don't want anyone to see my place either!

Julie, my daughter was great when I was sick and so was my sister. My sister let me stay with her for about 2 months after I finished radiation, but I was so bored while they were at work, I would clean their house, until my fingers all blistered from the chemo and I couldn't do anything. I loved living there and my mental state was such much more positive having someone with me that cared and I had someone to talk to everyday. When I got my own place my daughter came over and would take my laundry home with her, and once when I woke up in the morning and was vomiting all over myself and my bed, she cleaned everything up and took all the bedding home and cleaned it and brought back fresh. My boys, they were supportive by offering to take out to eat, but I don't think they really knew what to do:)

Alison, I had a really good friend that wanted to help me in any way she could and would call me everyday, if I she didn't talk to me for one day, she would panic! It was very nice, but once I went into remission, she stopped calling, then eventually moved out of state. Now we only talk on FB. It's funny to me, how concerned she was when I was sick, and now we rarely talk at all:) You probably will be sore after aerobics, but it will be a good kind of sore!

Ida, your weather really is drastic from morning to night! That's like a 50 degree drop overnight! It's too bad about your garden. Your indoor garden looks great though!

My friend asked me to come by this morning. The one I mentioned that only lives about 10 miles away, and we never see each other. Well, I did go visit her a couple of weeks ago and we promised to see each other more often. She doesn't have a car right now, so I don't mind driving to her place, and I'd rather she not come here anyways.

Hope everyone has a great day!
Kay, you should update your profile picture and show us how long your hair is now:)

Ida, I don't blame you for just doing an indoor garden. Losing everything twice to frost is enough!

Julie, you are becoming an "Old World" regular....soon you will be one of the people doing demonstrations!

Sue, Shari and anyone else reading this....wishing you a wonderful day.

I cut hubby's hair this morning. I've been cutting his hair ever since we started dating. While I was getting chemo and had no hair, it was kind of hard cutting his hair because it made me so aware of my own lack of hair. I think this is about the 7th time I've cut it since I lost my own hair. My hair's coming back now, so it didn't really make me feel bad this time that he needed another haircut. I have no idea how long it will be before I decide to get mine cut. A part of me never wants to cut it again! I can tell it's starting to pick up the pace in terms of growning, but it's still short, curly and very easy to care for. We'll see.

Hugs,
Kay

I had a nice day. Last load of laundry is in the washer. I worked on the quilt top my hubby picked out from a catalog. I finished the main blocks and am assembling them now.

We may go to Old World Wisconsin tomorrow.

Take care.

Afternoon....

Well the sun is out and 79 degrees. Last night it got down to 28 degrees. The last 2 nights have been below 30.I lost my whole out door garden. I will not start over again. They keep saying the lows would be in the upper 40's and I don't believe them. I will start a indoor garden again.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Went to the store and picked up some things that I forgot yesterday. I made some granola bars and they turned out good even my DH liked them. I picked up some trail mix with dried fruit in it and will be making some more during the week. Real simple to make.

Well we got the lambs vaccinated so I have the rest of the day to what I want.

I think I am going to go for a walk before it gets too warm. We are supposed to have a hot and humid day today.

Have a great day.

I had a pretty good day, but I am looking forward to the weekend.

We got the tree off the roof of the little barn last night. I was a little worried when I was hearing the chain saw and it was dark out. Hubby said it is the best $200 he has spent. So now we have some clean up to do.

We have to vaccinate the lambs in the morning. It should only take about 30 min.

The we have the rest of the day to do what we want.

Have a great weekend!

I can relate to Kay; sometimes it may seem to others that I am staying active, but many days, the only non-sedentary activity I get in is my workout. I'm also in that catch-22, wishing I could have people stop over, but not being able to keep up with keeping the house neat enough so that I am not embarrassed to have people see it.

I just finished changing the sheets on the bed, and even that simple sounding activity made me feel a bit winded, and I have to sit down for a little bit and rest.

SUE ~ I had a close friend who moved away about 5 years ago - shortly after she moved she was diagnosed with a rare form of liver cancer. I had been in touch with her and offered to drive to see her ( about 5 hrs away) and she refused saying that she would prefer that I visit when she was well. I thought about just showing up many times but it's so hard to know what to do. One of the last conversations we had before her liver transplant was her telling me that I should live my life to the fullest ( I was going through some bad times with my husband and I didn't have the nerve to do anything about it) I felt I couldn't contact her until I honored her wishes - I never did honor those wishes and we lost contact. When I was diagnosed I tried to reach out to her and she has never replied. Guilt has a terrible effect on our lives!

~ Going to water aerobics this morning ! I haven't done ANYTHING other than walk since my surgery a year ago, so I will probably feel it for the next few days but I'm looking forward to it

Let you know how it goes!

Good evening.

We have all been there. I too had a hard time during my chemo treatments, being tired, tired of being tired, tired of feeling crappy etc. I was fortunate and did not have really bad side effects, I had about 4 days each cycle that were bad then I would gradually feel better until it was time for my next treatment, but as time went on I didn't bounce back as fast. I had six rounds of chemo.

Looking back I was able to stay fairly active. My family was too far away to help me, but mom called me everyday and read stories to me over the phone to make me feel better. Work was very supportive. They moved me into a position that I could handle while I was going through chemo and let me work what ever hours I could handle (about 12 hours a week). They also set up my DH so he could work from home if needed. My friend Nancy would pick me up and take me to quartet practice. She drove us to orchestra, our conductor would not let me take the spring off from orchestra he said just come when I felt good enough, my stand partner just wanted me there to turn pages even if my fingers weren't working well enough to play the notes. My DH was my biggest supporter. He ate a lot of chicken because it was about the only thing I could eat. He would make chicken noodle soup in the crock pot so it was ready when I wanted it. Even now he still goes with me to my oncology appointments. I also set up my sewing machine on the dining room table so I could sew if I felt like it.

I am 7 years out of chemo. I am considered stable but I am not cancer free. I am keeping myself strong and trying to eat healthy.

Take care everyone!

Julie

Sue, I think it's ironic that you commented on how active I am. I've been really struggling with fatigue for about a week and a half. I feel like I lay around a lot too. I go to aerobics class each morning, but I feel like I get very little done during the day. I find that part of it is lack of interest in spending hours cleaning or weeding...it's just not that important to me any more, but then I feel like my house is too messy to invite people over. It's a bit of a catch-22 situation. I am so tired all the time I've actually started to wonder if I have a thyroid issue. I'm probably fine, just dealing with the aftermath of chemo...but I'm amazed at how little reserve I have in terms of energy levels.

Wishing everyone a good day today.

Sue, please don't feel ashamed of your feelings; I know from experience that fatigue can be very hard to overcome, and pain is tiring also.

I've had the same thing happen with a lot of my friends. I'm lucky to have a best friend with MS; I don't mean that I am glad she has it, I wish she were in perfect health, but what I am trying to say, is because of she's been through living with the MS, she really "gets" a lot of what I am going through with the cancer. I do feel lonely at times though; when you can't get out of the house a lot, it can be depressing.

My name is Shari; I have been a Sparker since July 2006, and living with Stage IV breast cancer since 2007.

Jamee, everyone here has already said it, so I won't say it again, but I agree with everyone! I feel guilty because God saved my life from Stage III cancer last year, and all I do is lay in bed! I feel like He saved me for a reason, and it was NOT to lay in bed and waste the life He has given me! I am very lonely too, and I don't feel sorry for myself, I feel ashamed. Ashamed that I am alive and wasting each day laying in bed and doing nothing, while others who were really living life, have passed. I want to do things, but then when I get the opportunity, I'm too tired or I don't feel well, so I just go back to bed. Getting a full time job has helped me feel like I'm a little bit useful, but then I come home from work and just lie in bed until time to go back to work again in the morning. I think I have lost so many friends since I got sick because I stopped going to see them and doing things with them when I was going through treatment, that they eventually stopped asking me. I've said 'no' so many times, that no one even calls anymore. I think that has lead to depression and feeling like they weren't really my friends after all. So many feelings that are not good have lead to depression and loneliness. I don't know how to change it now. Anyways, sorry for "letting go" on this! I don't usually go on about how I feel, but you have opened the door, so to speak, and it is flooding out right now!

Kay, you are amazing! You have stayed so active all through your treatment and now after! I wish I would have! I wouldn't be were I am now if I would have tried harder:)
'
Shari, I'm so glad you didn't have a headache yesterday! I hope you're doing well today!

Ida, good to see you! I'm glad you got to spend time with your DD!

Julie, it's always nice to hear how you are doing!

Allison, I love your support and encouragement for all of us and so glad you have joined our little team too! It's so nice to always have a kind word for others, especially here:)

Have a good day everyone!

JAMEE ~ Welcome - so glad you found us! There's no right or wrong way to feel about this hand we've been dealt. This is a great forum to talk about it - no judgments but a lot of understanding and support!
Glad you are here!

Good evening.

I had a pretty good day. We went out for dinner after work.

I posted a picture of Tigger, my new cat on my spark page. I will try to put on the team page.

Jamie, welcome to the team. We all have days when we need to vent.

Not to much going on here.

Take care.

Julie

Welcome to the team Jamee! I'm grateful for this group too, and other groups I belong to online. We don't have much in the way of support groups where I live either. I can relate to what you are feeling; sometimes, we just need to talk to someone else who has cancer, someone who really "gets" it. Please don't feel you are being selfish; you are not! Those are perfectly normal feelings for someone going through what we are dealing with.

Thank you for the good thoughts Sue and Alison!

No headaches yesterday either Sue, even though we had changing weather it did not trigger any headaches like it often does.

I'm glad I found this place. Many times I feel lonely but I get through, like we all do. There are very few support groups in my area...you may be it. That's okay, I have a large group of friends that love me. I am glad they have never had to go through some of the things I have. But that's where my loneliness comes in at times. I am glad they lift me up when I feel down, I am FOREVER grateful for that!!! But there comes a time, at the end of most days, where I wonder if I will wake up in the morning. How do I talk about THAT??? How stupid and selfish am I for even feeling that way when I have been blessed so much in my life?! Anyways...it happens from time to time. I don't talk about it much for a couple of reasons though. First of all, it rarely makes me or anyone around me feel better and secondly...I feel selfish even feeling this way (as I have already said). There are far more in worse off shape!!! I am so grateful that I am alive, happy (for the most part) and growing closer to my relationship with God. I know that in my life, I really need to take moments and realize how far I have come. But I also live a life where sometimes those moments of joy are stolen with moments of fear, and...bad news. So anyways, thanks for letting me vent and welcoming me to the team. I really am NOT a negative person. So I am sorry if this came off that way. I hope to gain a buddy or 50! ;) emoticon

Hi All,
Sue, I'm glad you got a good nights sleep.

Julie, the heat you are feeling reminds me of the heatwave in Wisconsin last July when we were doing a self-supported bike tour there and nearly killed ourselves with heatstroke. The heat index was in the 100's each day that week.

I got to exercise class this morning for the third day in a row. I'm making a gradual comeback after wearing myself out last week. I have clearly learned my lesson. Coming back after chemo is a whole different ballgame.

I finally got a hold of the doctor's office and they said they did put in the referral, so I guess they are just behind a couple of months. I wish they would do it and get it over with!

I only woke up twice in the night last night, and once just for a few minutes. I woke up feeling better than usual! I had a good day at work too, but glad I'm home for the night:)

Have a good night everyone:)

Good evening!

Mondays are going to be long days for me. I met with my trainer at 5:30 am and then on to work then I ended my day with quartet practice so I didn't get home until after 8:30 pm. Once fall gets here and orchestra starts my days will be longer on Monday.

I am making some headway at work catching up from being gone last week. They tried up were not able to cover my work.

It was 90 with a 104 heat index. It was one of the days warmest we have had this summer. I closed the windows and turned on the air.

I am going to go work on my quilt and spend some time with Tigger. I will see about getting a picture of him tonight and will post it.

Take care!

Julie

Good morning!
Kay, I'm glad you're not going to overdo it anymore:) I am just the opposite. I can't ever go to the bathroom then my feet and belly swell up and I just feel miserable! I still have not had a call for the CT Scan of my chest! Every time I call they say to call back during business hours, it was during business hours!

Shari, I hope you have no headaches today!

Ida, glad to see you pop in! Have fun with your family!

Julie, hello! I hope you're not too busy today!

Well, my son just got here and we're going to watch Sunday's Big Brother so hello to everyone else here too! talk to you later:)

Thank you Kay! I'm more concerned with the CT scan than the bone scan; so far, my treatment has kept the cancer out of the organs so I hope it stays that way.

I am doing my Sparking earlier in the day than usual; we may get some strong storms later so I don't want to be on the computer if there is lightning in the area.

I had the CT scan this morning. I got nauseous after the dye was injected and threw up on the table; that was kind of embarrassing, but I was assured that I was not the only patient to have that reaction. I was fine by the time I left. I thought I would be really tired from getting up so early, but so far doing ok. If I have too, I'll take a nap this afternoon.

Sue, I agree....chemo and rads didn't help my digestive issues.

Alison, don't get me started on needing a bathroom after I eat. It's a given that I will have to go immediately after finishing a meal. It's like the food shifts everything down a notch!

I felt well enough to go to aerobics class this morning. I feel good this afternoon, but I've learned my lesson not to push things too hard. I think I overdid it last week and it took me about four days to recover.

Shari, I hope you are having a headache free, low pain day!

Julie, welcome back from vacation.

Ida, I'm glad you are doing fine.

Unfortunately, we are getting near the time of year when my allergy headaches flare up; almost ragweed season here again!

I had my bone scan today; tomorrow morning is my CT scan. I have to drink my first barium shake at 6:15am, not easy to do that early in the morning! It's not easy for me to get up that early either, but at least I will be able to take a nap when I get home if I need to.

Thanks, Allison! I don't think my brother would go for it at all from the sound of it:)
I wonder if we all have digestive problems from the chemo and/or radiation? It seems like each and everyone of us have some kind of digestive problem now.

Julie, sorry your vacation is over now, but like you said, you can get back to your workouts:)

Shari, sorry to hear you have a headache again. You do get them so often.

Rae, glad to see you posting here again! It has been a long time! I hope you are here to stay for awhile now:)

Still haven't heard from Ida in a couple of days, but that is normal for her so I won't worry. Just want you to know we are thinking of you:)

I often will check in a get my points then don't post anything for a day or two at a time. and then other times, I post all day long....funny how that happens! When I'm motivated and doing well, I can't wait to post, but when I'm not doing so well, I have nothing to brag about. lol

KAY ~ I have digestive issues too. During my multiple scans after they found the cancer they discovered that my gallbladder was ready to go. When they removed the tumor they had to take the Ileocecal valve - that dumps water into your large intestines. So I have to be careful what I eat or I need to know where the closest bathroom is :) .... In that procedure my appendix was in the way so they took that too - I always say " Buy one, get two free..."

Well, my vacation is over. I go back to work tomorrow and start back to my workouts. I think the workout break helped because my shoulder no longer seems to be hurting. I meet with Nickie, my trainer tomorrow at her new gym.

I have spent today sewing and doing laundry, so it was pretty relaxing.

Have a great week!

Rae, good to hear from you. That heat and humidity can be brutal in the summer, but you can be enjoying walking in January which is hard for most of the rest of the US.

Shari, sorry you had to deal with another headache. You have a lot of them. emoticon

Alison, I cut out all processed foods completely, started juicing homemade veggie/fruit juices, and switched to organic, free-range, grass-fed food where ever possible. In the beginning, I was really strict about it all. Now, I eat that way about 95% of the time. I had french fries yesterday and I think that was the first time in almost a year. I have Crohn's disease too, so sometimes my tummy needs something very gentle like saltine crackers, so I have to balance my digestive issues with my desire not to eat processed foods. I know the disappointment of trying recipies that look terrible or taste terrible or both. There's a lot of learning involved in trying to change eating habits. I hope your husband and you can encourage each other with making those changes. It helps a lot when you are both on the same page about things like that.

Hi all. It has been awhile since I have written here. A lot has been happening with me. Kay I love your hair. It is growing very fast. I wish my hair was wavy like yours. Shari your afghan is beautiful, your sister will love it.
The weather here is still bad. We always get afternoon storms in S Florida. I try to go walking in the evenings. My son and daughter walk with me. It is difficult but I have always loved walking.

I hope everyone has a great week.

SUE ~ The book/diet we are using is by Dr. Joel Fuhrman (he's frequently on with DR. Oz) called the "End of Diabetes".
It's modified Vegan. Seems like the recipes would taste good when you read the ingredients but they aren't, very disappointing - spent Sooo much time and money and then you sit down to eat and it's AWFUL! Honestly some of the finished product LOOK unappealing as well - sorry to be graphic but the bean patties looked like poop and the soups look like vomit - Not sure to laugh or cry - my kids were simply grossed out. The look on my husbands face was priceless
BUT, the results have been GREAT, as the book promised - his numbers are down where they need to be and I lost 3 lbs in less than a week but we feel like we are suffering :)

KAY ~ What did you do to change your eating habits?

SHARI ~ An Afghan ! Awesome - I had this great idea that I was going to make myself one to use as a bedspread for college... I made 2 (large) squares and that was enough for me, I got bored - my mother finished ( I just don't have that Gene :) !! :)

HAVE A GREAT DAY!

Kay, I love your new profile pic!

Sue, I am feeling a little better today; I think I finally got rid of the headache I was fighting all day yesterday, a sinus headache from my allergies.

I finished the afghan I was crocheting for sister last night, it will be a Christmas gift. Now I will be making one for my mom.

Allison, what diet is he on? My brother just lost a second toe to diabetes and I would like to check it out. I don''t know where to check out your secret to success:)

Shari, I hope your feeling better! I am always so tired too, so I understand. I hate it! I wish just one day I would wake up feeling refreshed and energetic!
Ida, how you doing? How is your DH?

Isn't that airplane being shot down tragic! I am beginning to worry about WWIII. I never thought I would see it in my lifetime, but now I'm not so sure! One plane disappears leaving Kuala Lumpur, and the other one gets shot down going to Kuala Lumpur! The wars going on between Israel and the Gaza Strip are really scary along with all the other wars going on all over the place. The news said there are currently 40 different wars going on right now!

This thing between Russia and the U.S. is what worries me though.

Alison, that is fantastic that you are making changes to your eating habits. After a while, you will find things that you like to eat on your new food plan. I racially changed the way I eat right after I got diagnosed with cancer and it took a while for me to adjust....give it time.

I've been feeling fatigued this week. Today is better. I can't figure out if I had some kind of bug or just overdid earlier in the week. Either way, it's been a bit of a drag. It's been a little discouraging because I was really enjoying feeling stronger. I think this will pass....it could just be part of the process of recovering from treatment. I don't know. I'm focusing on keeping hydrated today as I think that might help with my energy levels. We'll see.

Happy Sunday everyone!

SUE ~ thanks for asking, I'm doing OK - my husband and I started on a new diet - he finally wrapped his brain around the fact that he is diabetic and went from 0-60 miles per hr. and got serious - I jumped in with him since I should be eating like a diabetic anyway for cancer purposes BUT we have spent all our extra time trying to figure things out for his numbers - or I'm cooking - or I'm grocery shopping.... Unfortunately the recipes really SUCK big time ! MEGA BLECK It's a jump start plan to decrease his levels fast and it lasts 2 weeks - Monday will be the start of week 2 and it can't come fast enough
~ Thanks for Checking In

Good afternoon. I just got back from Lady's Day Away. I spent the day sewing with a group of friends. I almost have the diamond blocks finished. I have one more section to sew. The quilt is a bed size and I had to cut it out with scissors so it took me a while.

Going to grill dinner out ina little bit.

Take everyone.

Good afternoon,
Slowly but surely getting the things done I needed to do today. Not sure why I am so tired, thought I slept ok, but I guess my hemoglobin is just low enough to make me tired no matter how much sleep I get.

Shari, I'm glad your endoscopy went smoothly and you got a good report. Did you get a good sleep too?

Julie, way to go on the hard workout!

Sue, the probiotic drinks help populate the gut with good bacteria which in turn, helps support the immune system.

I overdid working out last Tuesday and have spent the last three days resting! I'm finally feeling back to "normal" today. I plan on taking it easy today. It's been raining out all morning so it's a nice day to being indoors reading.

Julie, sounds like a good workout if you're that sore.lol
Shari, so happy to hear you had good results!
Ida, how is your DH doing? Hope you're both doing okay!
Kay, never heard of fermented probiotic drinks? Along with the other words you posted:) What is kefir? and the other one?
Allison, I hope I got your name right? You doing okay?
I was so ready to get a day off this week! Our dispatcher was on vacation and we had a new lady start on Monday, and then my brother had an emergency and wasn't in the office hardly for 2 days. I don't do dispatch, and she didn't know how to either, so it was quite a mess! I hope my brother can fix everything this weekend and get everything straightened out that we did;)

I am glad everyone is doing well.

I had a nice day, but am really sore from my work out this morning. I worked out with a group of women who work with Randy as their trainer. My legs are really sore and I can sure feel them everytime I go up and down the steps.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Julie, I'm glad that you could take your mom's cat; if she can't keep her kitty at least I hope it's a comfort for her to know he is with family.

I'm glad to be back after missing my "Sparking" yesterday! The endoscopy went well; most of the ulcers are healed, just a few small ones left; overall, a good report. I go back in 3 months for an office visit with my GI doctor.

Happy Friday....not much going on here. I'm trying to make fermented probiotic drinks....kombucha, water kefir and milk kefir. The milk kefir only takes 12 hours. I started it last night and had it this morning with fresh organic local blueberries blended in for sweetness. It turned out pretty good. The others take longer so it will be a few days before I have the results back from those experiments.

Wishing everyone a good day!

Good to see you on here Ida! Glad you're okay, hope your DH is too!
Julie, is that a really big quilt you are working on? I was wondering because you said it took you two months to cut it out.
Shari, Kay, Linda, and others, hope you are all good! Time to go to work:)

I had a quiet (with the exception of a few kitty growls) and relaxing day. I spent the morning doing laundry and sewing. I started sewing the quilt top that took me almost two months to cut out. I had both cats in my sewing room with me most of the day.

My DH had an ultrasound this afternoon. I went along and we went out for an early dinner.

I am do some hand quilting this evening.

We have one more day plus the weekend before it is back to work.

Take care everyone!

I hope your scan comes out good Shari, and doesn't take forever to get it done, or for the results. The stress of waiting is driving me crazy! I tried calling yesterday at 9:30 and they said to call back between the hours of 9 and 5, what?! It WAS between 9-5! When I take my lunch, the doctor is out to lunch too, so I can never get a hold of them. I'm going to take a break at work today and call about 10 am, if I remember:)

I was 155.5 just the other day, then my feet and belly swelled up again, and today I am 158. I really don't think I gained almost 3 lbs. in 3 days:)

Julie, that's got to be hard deciding to put your mom in an assisted living place, but it will probably be good for her and your brother and sister. Good luck and God bless!

Ida, where are you? Hope you are just busy and hope to see you here today! I worry if I don't see someone on here that is usually on here! Hope the others that are usually here post something today too just so we know they are doing okay or not:)

Just finished catching up. We had a good visit with my mom.

We went to my family reunion on Sunday in Dayton, Ohio. We had a nice time and a good visit with cousins I have not seen in about 5 years. We went back to moms Sunday after the reunion the visited with mom for a couple more days. We are going to start looking for assisted living for mom. My brother and my sister are getting stressed dealing with her on a daily bases, I only had a few days and was feeling the stress.

We brought one of moms cats, Tigger, home with us. It was a little noisy in the car for a while but he settled down with just a few meows. He is upstairs in the bathroom, there have been a few kitty growls and hissing between Tigger and CD, but I think they will be OK together in a few days.

Looking forward to a few relaxing days here ate home.

Take care.

Julie

Sue, I read My Sisters Keeper a few years ago, and saw the movie, you are right about the endings being totally different. I'm glad you are feeling better; if I were you, I would call about that scan. I know that waiting and wondering drives me nuts!

I can't believe I forgot to post here yesterday! I guess I had a lot on my mind. I had my monthly oncologist appointment, and he is concerned that my tumor markers are still rising, so I am scheduled for bone and CT scans next week, so Sue, I'll be anxious myself waiting, so I totally understand how you feel right now.

Tomorrow is my followup endoscopy to check on my ulcers. I probably won't be online tomorrow, so please don't worry if you don't see me here tomorrow, I'll be back Friday!

Two aerobic classes in one day and then you tried to do line dancing also? lol
No wonder you're tired! How do you do it?!

We have another fire burning on the CA/NV border that is only 10% contained and another HOT day, but lately it's been humid too. We had a fire yesterday right next to the State Fair, and they had to close the freeway right at rush hour traffic, What a nightmare! It was so hot yesterday too!

I am feeling better today but getting anxious about them not calling me for the CT Scan. Yesterday I was all swollen again and sick to my stomach all day. It has been at least 3 weeks since the doctor ordered the test.

Hope everyone has a good Wednesday! Tonight is another episode of Big Brother! Not as good as Survivor, but it will do until Survivor comes back on:)

Sue, I'm sorry you are not feeling well. That is no fun at all....

Shari, I know you are having a busy week. Do you have to do any prep for your endoscopy tomorrow?

I overdid it yesterday. Hubby and I normally go to two aerobics classes on Tuesday. One is a hard class and the other is an easy beginning line dancing class. We decided to try a third class in between the two other classes and it was too much for me. The third class was an easy ballroom dancing class, but it was just too much being on my feet all that time so I had to quit half way through the third class (the line dancing). I'm going to take the day off today from aerobic exercise to give my feet and legs a rest. I'll do some light weight training with my arms at home....I usually try to do some strength training to build up my arms on Monday, Wed, and Fridays. I want to avoid lymphedema....and gentle strength training in the arms is supposed to help.

Hi everyone! I'm not feeling good today but realized I haven't been here for a day or two.
Kay, you really are amazing! How do you do it?!
Shari, quiet days are good sometimes:)
Ida, we have been really hot lately too, I hate it!
Ali, how did it make you feel? I wanted to see it too, but I know the book would be so much better.
Has anyone read, "My Sister's Keeper"? That is one of the best books I've ever read, but the movie is pretty good too, just a totally different ending in the movie.
Have a good night everyone:)

I'd like to see the movie too, but knowing how it will make me cry, after reading the book, I think I will wait til it's out on DVD so I can watch it at home and have my cry in private.

I did my grocery shopping this morning. It wasn't the shopping so much that tired me out, but getting everything into the house and put away. Starting to wonder if my hemoglobin is down again. I was ok though after sitting and resting for about an hour, and I was ok when it was time to do my workout.

Ali, I'm not sure I want to see that movie. Shari read the book and liked it, so I might read the book. Usually, I try to read the book first and then watch the movie if I'm going to do both because the book tends to be better....it's hard to get everything in a movie. I've heard it's a "three hanky" movie even for someone that doesn't have a history of cancer, so no telling what it would be for me!

Ida, glad you had a rest day! I did too. I actually went to bed last night around 7pm and slept for 12 hours. Sometimes we need that.

Shari, I'm glad you had a good Sunday. Hoping today is a good one for you too.

I ran again this morning (1.75 miles) and then went to a one hour aerobics class that I've been going to for the last couple months. It's a pretty easy class, so I knew it would be okay to do both. I feel okay, but I plan to take it easy the rest of the day.
