Well, I hope he has a great birthday.
We have an appointment today to see the wellness coach at the fitness center. She'll help us customize our fitness routines to do us the most good. I know Bob is going to do his own thing regardless but I'm interested in hearing her suggestions.
Hope everyone has a good Tuesday.

Jacob's B'day is Wednesday. He is going to be 14, and I still remember the year he was born. He was 6 weeks early and then at 7 weeks he had pyloric stenosis and had to have surgery. Now he's a strapping young man 5' 11 3/4" tall and big. His sister is 8 and going to be 9 in May.

Yep, we went to the gym early this morning and worked out for 45 minutes. Bob spent the whole time in the pool. Surprised me he stayed in as long as he did, but he said he enjoyed it. I worked out on 3 different machines. We'll be going tomorrow since Wednesday is grocery day as well as bill paying day. We both plan to use the machines then. Wednesday while out, I'll buy a swimsuit so I can join Bob in the pool once in awhile.
The pork loin roast turned out really good. Had enough for 5 meals for us plus we took a section over to some friends of ours for them to enjoy. Gave them enough for 3 meals ( I told you it was a huge roast). But it turned out really good and very moist.
Hope Jacob had a wonderful birthday.

Vicki, did you make it to the gym today? How did the pork roast turn out, sounds yummy. I made a lean beef roast for the family on Saturday and Jacob's b'day cake. The children were supposed to bring the rest of the dinner-that happened in part.
Have a good new week.

Hope everyone is having a good Saturday. It's a little cool here today, but at least it's not raining like it was yesterday.
I have a HUGE pork loin roast I'll be fixing today. It's a good 10 lbs. Our landlord gave it to us as part of his Christmas present to us. I'm going to cook it in a turkey bag and then make a good 7-8 ready to eat meals out of it, to go into the freezer. We'll have some of it tonight for supper and I'm looking forward to it.
Have a great weekend and do something you enjoy.

Good Morning, or what's left of it. Went to the fitness center this morning and I did 20 minutes on the recumbrant bike. I would have done more but Bob wasn't up to staying too long today. He had planned to use the recumbrant bike too but his left leg wouldn't co-operate. So for now he'll just use the pool. Next week I've got to pick up a swimsuit so I can use the pool too. I think Bob will stay longer as long as I work out in the pool with him.
It's raining off and on today so won't be doing anything outside.
Hope everyone has a good day.

Vicki, that would be great if he continued to give him the script. For one thing, he needs to be able to work out and for the other thing, it sure would save on expenses. I'll keep you both in my prayers!!!

Yeah, as long as the heart doctor sends a new script to them saying it's medically necessary and puts down the medical codes, they'll extend it every 3 months for him. I think the cardioligist will keep him medically necessary until he's got at least 75 lbs off, if not more. He wants Bob down to 200 lbs. Bob is currently 340 lbs. So it's going to take awhile. I figure once he's lost 75 lbs, then the doctor will leave it up to Bob if he wants to continue or not.

Vicki, that's a good deal for the two of you. Do you think Bob's might be extended after the 3 months? Sorry the pension check hasn't come yet. With the holidays, these things can be late.

Wishing you a Healthy, Happy New Year.

We had hoped Bob's pension would be here today. Didn't happen. I'll check again at 11am when they update. Otherwise it'll be Wednesday before we can pay bills or get any grocery shopping done. Bob's not happy about it, but not a thing I can do about it.
Hope you all have a great New Year's Eve. If out and about, stay safe.

Where we are going, it's $43.00 a month. If Bob didn't have it set up for him thru his cardioligist, we couldn't afford it. The couples rate is $79.00 enrollment and $73.00 a month dues. When you live off of social security and a small pension, taking that much out a month is tough. But for 3 months it won't cost for Bob to go there, so we can manage for my enrollment and dues.

HAPPY SUNDAY!
Hope you're all having a great weekend. This year is almost gone and we have a brand new year to reach our healthy weight loss goals. What will you be doing to reach yours?
For me, I'll be doing low carb, and I'm cutting out all artificial sweetners. Bob and I have also joined a fitness center and will be going there 3 times a week. It's only a 5 minute drive from the house so no excuses not to go. I don't know how much of the 65 lbs I'll be able to lose in 2013 but I'm going to lose just as much of it as I possibly can.

Vicki, glad to hear things are better. I can imagine how crowded the fitness center is on the weekends but sounds like you have a good schedule worked out.

Ginie, it's a shame that most of these things are so expensive. There is one that only charges $10 a month (Planet Fitness) but the only one around is too far away to make it worth while. All the others charge and arm and a leg or your first born!!! I try to watch DVD's when I'm on the treadmill. Takes my mind off what I'm doing...lol

Hope you're both having a good weekend. We've had snow and now it's supposed to be real cold....bummer.

He's feeling back to normal this morning. We decided to wait til Monday to go back to the fitness center. Weekends it's so packed you can't enjoy it. But during the week it's not as crowded. We normally go Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Vicki, glad the pills work and Bob realizes how important it is for him to take them.
Mary Anne, I miss swimming too. In the summer I go six days a week as weather permits. The pool I can go to is about 15 minutes away the nearest Y's are at least a half hour away.
I really need to push myself to getting on the treadmill-I hate the thing and wished I had gotten a stationary bike instead. Oh well, adjust right! emoticon I need to do more exercise and the treadmill is what I got so I need to get on it. I cannot afford the gym fees, and I can't plan on going to the gym every time Erik is at Transitional Therapy because that is when I see my doctors, hairdresser, get my little bit of fun-fabric/yarn shopping in. Sometimes when I take Erik and there is no other patients there I'll get on the machines or do some exercises with him, but he doesn't want me to take him all the time.

Vicki, glad to hear the fluid pills worked and that he won't miss them again. It was also wise to take a break today.

Ginie, I miss swimming in the winter. I'd love to join the "Y" but again, it's a drive away.

We're supposed to have snow starting tomorrow morning and then a very cold, windy day on Sunday. Hummmm....guess winter is really here.

Bob's better. He took a fluid pill and within minutes was feeling a lot better. He hadn't taken a fluid pill in 2 days and he had excess fluid around his heart. But once he started going to the bathroom, the shortness of breathe went away. He won't skip his pills anymore. We ended up not going to the fitness center though cause he didn't feel he should push it. We'll go in the morning instead.

Vicki, I hope Bob's pill helped and that you were able to go to the fitness center rather than the doctors. I'm not able to join a gym right now for various reasons, but I'm going to try to go to the local park once a week for a swim. They have an indoor pool and as long as Erik's care givers are driving him to transitional therapy, I'll try to get some me time in.

The one we go to is only about 3 miles from the house. We'll be going 3 times a week for now. I'm really hoping it'll help Bob as well as me.

Hope everyone is having a great Friday. We had planned to head up to the fitness center this morning but Bob is having shortness of breath so we're going to wait now til this afternoon and see if he gets to doing better. He didn't take a fluid pill for 2 days and he may have a little too much fluid around his heart. He's taken the fluid pill today and we'll see if that helps. If his breathing doesn't improve within about a hour, I may take him to the doctor and see if he needs to go to the hospital.

Finally trying to get back on now that it's quieted down a little. Hope you all had a Merry Christmas.

Vicki, good for you and Bob joining the fitness center. The ones that I would like to join are too far away to make it worth driving to. You'll have to let us know how you both are doing.

Have a great night!

Bob and I gave each other small gifts but we also joined our local fitness center and will go at least for the next 3 months. Bob got a medically necessary doctors script so it won't cost for him to go for the 3 months, but I'll be using my pocket money to cover my dues and enrollment fee. But it's something we both need. Bob will mainly use the pool to make it easier on his legs but to help strengthen his heart and I use the machines. He plans to use the recumbrant bike once in awhile too, like I did yesterday. He spent 15 minutes in the pool while I used the bike. I did 3 miles in 15 minutes. It's a good start for me. And I'm willing to do just about anything to keep Bob going. He needs this so badly to increase his heart strength.

I just got back from the health and fitness center. Hubby and I joined and will be going 3 times a week. He uses the pool right now and I use the stationary bike. But we'll both work up to other things.
