Sorry to report that my dh passed away in June 2012. He suffered till the end so it was OK that he passed on. He is now in a better place without pain. Since then I moved to a new home and have started to get on with my life. I still miss him alot and am still going to the bereavement group (we meet for coffee once per week).

Hope all this treatment for your dh works out. Best of luck

God bless

Dianne

Hi everyone - just a quick update on what is happening with dh. He is now back home. The move went well. Pain is still an issue. Everytime we increase the meds the pain is tolerable for a few days then starts up again. Happy to have him home so that I can take care of him. It makes me feel better being able to help out more.

Another appointment with dr. on Monday, probably to increase his meds again.

Take care everyone - hope everyone is doing well.

I brought my dh home overnight. He is not doing well. He is in alot of pain. He now has a nudule that you can feel under his right arm. His breath is getting phlemy and his was very tired. Went to bed a 7:00 pm. Not quite the visit I was hoping for. It is so hard to watch him in pain. Will have to ask dr to increase his pain meds. He had been down playing his pain but I got to see it first hand and it is alot worse than he had let on.

Prayers would be welcomed.

As my children are not intellectually able to take care of themselves I decided to take out a disability pension plan out for them. Because both of the are on income security I am not able to leave them anything directly without it being deducted from the income security. With an disability pension plan the curator of my estate with handle the pension plan and he/she will decide when one of my children needs something not covered by income security and forward the funds they need to the appropriate person. This money is used to pay for my son's summer camp, he is extremely distructive with his clothes so this also enable the person taking care of him and allow them to purchase extra clothes, etc. In the case of my daughter is lives independantly but is a x-drug addict. I dare not leave her any money, so I have a friend of mine that accepted to be her advocate. He will pay her "extras" himself when she needs a special purchase.

I used to have quite a bit of money put aside for my old age but during one of my mania episodes I cashed in my RRSP pension fund. NOT A GOOD IDEA. I used the money to build and extension on my house. Something I really did not need to do. So now I am paying the price with have a tight income on my husband's revenu.

It is a shame that we cannot go back and change things. But I decided to use my mistakes as learning experience that makes us wiser as we get older.

Keep in tough emoticon

Yes, it does take a lot of money to have good living conditions when one needs them. I tell my children to work hard NOW to invest for their old age.

I did go see an assisted living facility yesterday. I was exactly what I was looking for except it was way out of my price range. I have another 31 places to visit in the area where I live.
I have a feeling that this is going to be a long search.
