just looked it up. lower estrogen = lower metabolism. I also noticed that my heart rate was low on the elliptical, but that could be unrelated.

do people generally gain weight during menopause?

it could also be slow digestion. I just read cottage cheese can cause it, and I've been eating it instead of yogurt the last week.

I also just found out I didn't get a teaching position I applied for emoticon

Cindy~ The endo is not even considering it might be related to the mono. DH and I think that is possible but this endo has all the answers and knows everything if you know what I mean. He will not listen to a thing we say! I can't stand doctors like that!

Elle~ Cindy might be right it could have something to do with the treatments or could just be water weight.

Nancy~ Have a wonderful day volunteering and hope your PT treatment does wonders. That is what field Carley is going into. That could come in handy for me since I am always having aches and pains from exercising! LOL

Dh is not on any meds yet. He went to doctor cause he was feeling so bad. He found out he had mono but doctor did thyroid test too. His tsh was .006 which blew all of us away! I wonder if the mono might of caused the weird readings; so am glad the endo is retesting his bloodwork.

Cindy I like how easy applesauce was to make and it tastes so good.
Debbie your poor DH hope they figure it out. Is he taking any meds. Good luck on the tests for the kids.
Volunteering today. The medicine I got for my nevk has helped quite a bit I have 3 more days to take it. I can still feel a strain when I tilt my head but most of the pain is going. Start back to PT tomorrow. Don't know how long it will last but I hope till I see the doctor next and beyond.

Elle, I work the overnight shift every night and I am loving it. I actually like the peace and quiet after everyone leaves and things settle down. I sleep as soon as I get home most days unless I have sine running around to do. I have totally gotten use to the shift and know what I need to do too make it through the entire night. I do hope you slept well and have a great day at work.

Cindy, sounds like you have everything under control to try to prevent the apples from going bad. Mmmm apple sauce! Do the kids like it?

Things have calmed down for now at work and my beginning paperwork is all done. Now I am waiting on the last late arrivals before running my reports.

Well, I am up another pound from yesterday!!! That is 2 lbs more than last week and 1 lb more than right after I got back from vacation. so disappointed. emoticon

De I made two batches of applesauce and made a small dent in the apples. Canned two jars and put the rest in the fridge. We ate some with dinner tonight.

Well spent a lot of time with Carley studying but really enjoyed it. I really enjoy anything thing to do with medical stuff. I also helped her on psychology terms. I was helping her come up with funny ways to remember them. Like Serotonin has to do with the function of sleep, dreaming and some arousal. So told her to remember the S in serotonin stands for sleep. It really helped. LOL I even had her remembering one by using superman in a visual que. Hope she does well on it.

De~ Dylan is studying his heart out. He has to study 10 hours a day and take practice test until the final exam which he has to pass, BUT he learned today he is 2nd in the top of his class of 46 students! He has a great memory! Wish I was like that! Him and Treasure have been over a lot and I am loving it! emoticon

Dh had to go to the endocrinologist today, His thyroid is hyper for some reason. Doctor is going to do a scan of his thyroid and do blood test again. He thinks Greg has graves disease which is an auto immune disorder that causes the body to attack the thyroid. I do not know a lot about it yet. But DH is struggling with gaining weight which is weird with someone that is hyper. Guess we will find out more later.

Hey everyone! I was going to get in my HIIT this morning first thing but daughter is stressing out about medical terminology so ended up helping her study. I will get in my work out later. I knew a lot of it and gave her tips on how to remember the words by using examples of everyday words. For example hypo means abnormally slow. She has hypothyroidism too so easy to remember. Helping her with psychology later. Bless her heart she has too much on her plate!

Morning all.
Cindy what kind of apples and wow that's a bunch. Last year Becky and I went apple picking it was a lot of fun. We made apple sauce loved it. So many thing you can do with apples have fun.
De you should be in bed soon. John and I watch the baseball game almost every night. The playoffs start for the Orioles on Thursday.
Elle great run I've never been a runner but do love to walk. Waiting for my new tennis to come today. Can't wait to get them.

De sounds like you and hubby had a great time together! I love it when DH and I spend time together. Our interest are so different though and have a hard time finding things to do.

Elle~ I am also 5'7 and love it! I like being taller because it seems like you can hide the weight a little better. My daughter is only 5'2 which surprised me I thought she would be taller. Dylan is 6'0.

De- workout was good! :-) I did 5k on the elliptical in 27 min and 15 min on the bike, then crunches, lunges, and squats.

Nancy- definitely, height (I'm 5'7") and overall frame changes sizing. your family sounds tall like mine! I'm the shortest. I always look tiny in the pictures, I'm like 1-2 heads shorter than them

Cindy- I would love to have fresh apples, what are you planning to make? Ate you canning all?

Cindy, that's awesome! Lee us know what you decided to do with all of them. I could just taste some of your creative delicious recipes now, haha!

I am here at work now waiting for the last couple guests to arrive. Then process some more paperwork in about another hour. I upgraded my cable so that I could watch some shows on my phone. It's pretty cool because I could either watch shows previously recorded or live TV.

I just drank a Monster to give me some energy. They have this flavor that has zero calories & zero sugar.

They brought back a lot. Somewhere between 50 and 60 lbs is my best guess. And there are so many more. Going to do what I can over the next two days with these and then see where we go from there.

Debbie, I used to find workouts on OnDemand, I love free stuff. Did you get the burn in that you wanted? Once you put your mind into it again, you would definitely see results.

I spent some time with hubby tonight before heading out the door to work. We ran some errands, ate dinner and then caught up on some shows. Loving the pictures Cindy.
Elle I'm 5'5" so average I guess. My mom was taller then me. I use to wear a size 8 pants and 4 dress and small tops. My thyroid left around 8 years ago which I thought was really rude. So I'm working on getting down near that weight. Like 135. Really shooting for 140. Have a good 20 more to lose. My two girls Becky the older daughter is 5'10" and Kimberly is 5'3" Becky got the height from my side I have 4 brothers with the shortest being 6 foot. Kim is more like Johns mom. Danny is only 5'11" I thought he would have been taller. Funny I never thought about my height.

De lunch sounds great! YUM! I did another work out I am starting HIIT 21 day off the internet. You can find so many free things to do online. I really need to boost my work outs so I burn more calories. I have been stuck for too long! TIME TO GET SERIOUS! lol

Cindy, I am one that has always wished to be taller. I ended up stopping at my mother's height. Don't get me wrong, I have definitely grown to love being short. Was today another rest day for you?

Elle, how was your work day? Your right, the sub takes too long to come up in the morning. Do you like to workout in the morning or evening? I have grown to like both, but like to get it out of the way.

I got up and got in my well needed workout. I should have taken my salmon out of the fridge before heading to bed, but I forgot. Now I am waiting to season and cook it. Instead, I am going to make myself some cream of wheat and an egg for lunch. Nice & quick!

Elle, are you going to get in a run this morning? Sounds like your feeling a lot better. Good Luck with your treatments!!

Cindy, glad you were able to get a lot completed today as well as get some well needed rest. Working this shift, I definitely realized how important sleep is. I take advantage every time I could get it.

Debbie, I'm just glad that you know how to regulate your body. Sounds like you have a good handle and know what to do depending on how your feeling. I totally can tell when my blood sugar levels are low and I grab a fruit or even a glass of juice.

Nancy, How is your PT going? Are you able to get in a workout or is it too painful? It really is interesting how our body types are completely different. I'm only 5'2" and always feel short and stumpy. LOL.

I'm here at work catching up on e-mails. Sunday's are pretty much a peaceful night, which is always needed after an active weekend. Once I get home, I'm going to put in a load of laundry and go straight to bed. Then I'll get in my workout routine once I wake up.

Good Morning!! It's still dark here, but not too cold.

Nancy - I'm glad I'm not the only one that keeps things to fit into someday :) How tall are you? I think that can change sizing. When I was slimmer I still wore a range of clothing 4-8 depending on how it was cut. I tend to wear smaller in dresses, but larger in pants and skirts, thanks to my hips, I think lol!

Debbie - That must be tough. I don't have hypoglycemia, but when I was diagnosed with food intolerances it was really annoying to plan each and every meal, but now I kind of get into it :) When my schedule gets really busy it's still annoying though.

Cindy - what else do they think it might be other than hypoglycemia? How long have they been debating?

I get that way periodically sometimes. There is a debate as to whether I have hypoglycemia or something else. Either way I can relate.

Nancy~ Only when I haven't eaten anything else but simple carbs for a meal. I have hypoglocemia. I need to focus on protein, fiber and complex carbs, but have to have a treat sometimes. LOL I first found out I had it in high school. I got really sick and did not know why. Mom took me to the doctor and he did blood work and said he did not know why I was not in coma because by sugar was down to 30. He lectured me about eating right and I had to follow the same diet as a diabetic while in high school. Had to have a snack on me at all times just in case. Healthy snacks though. Sugar makes my blood sugar spike really high then it crashes down really low. Some people think if you eat sugar it will help but it only makes it spike higher and drop dangerously low. Protein works every time to regulate me. I really notice it when I eat simple carbs on an empty stomach other wise it doesn't bother me. It really keeps me from eating too much junk food. My tongue will feel funny, I will start to sweat, and I am so hungry I can't stand it. I have to eat an now! LOL Just stay out of my way when I am like that! emoticon

Woo hoo Cindy naps are good.
Elle good luck with your treatment. I too have save thing wanting to get in to them. Wish I wore a size 10 it's funny how different everyone's body is. I weight 157 and wear a size 14 in pants. Having a time getting rid of the belly. But I'm wirking on it.
I agree sometimes you just need that treat. I don't forbid myself things because if I do I'll just want them and then that not good either. As they say tomorrow is a new day.
De glad you getting a routine and are enjoying your job.
Debbie does that happen often?

Elle, thanks for stopping by my page! You certainly motivated me with those pics. The one with my son, I was at my heaviest and he was 3 at the time. I am currently 30 pounds lighter. The pic with my daughter, I was in the 150's and looking confident. I want to get back there. When do you start your treatments?

Debbie, comfort foods are important at times. Cindy is right, just get back on track today. Try not to beat yourself up. I do hope your feeling better after your sugar crash!

I am just waking up after a long night at work. I want to try to get in my workout before my energy levels go away.

You both enjoyed the food and know why you did it. In the long run it will not have a negative affect, so back on track from this point forward. As we all know, sometimes the goodies are just what we want and we know it.

Just took my shower, now I am starting on some laundry. Need to keep moving without doing anything strenuous so that I can stretch out all the muscles that are sore.

Thanks Cindy and Debbie! I had consigned a lot of size 4 fancy dresses a few years ago and then donated a lot when we made the move to the UK. What I have left now are beautiful classic skirts and dresses I could never part with...I am convinced I will fit into them again someday!!! They are such good quality and have sort of a timeless look. Hopefully one day! Most of them still fit snug, like Cindy said, but the skirts sit slightly above my belly button - haha - not how they originally fit me :)

Debbie - I did the same thing today - I had eggs benedict after church - I was really feeling the lack of breakfast plus a jog... I ate the whole thing!! I had asked for spinach instead of bread but somehow the waiter talked me into hash browns instead of bread - may be gluten free, but definitely not healthy! lol.

Elle~ I usually get rid of them too unless it is something I REALLY like and hope to get back into. I have been a size 10 for so long now that I do not have anything smaller than that.

De~ I had a comfort food yesterday! STUPID ME! I was late about getting lunch and my sugar crashed because of the high sugary cereal that I had for breakfast! I was shaky and starving while trying to fix lunch. Next thing I know I devoured two turkey dogs, and a left over bread stick! Then I ate lunch! TERRIBLE! When my blood sugar leveled I felt like emoticon emoticon emoticon I need to save the comfort food if I have it for later in the day AFTER I have eaten lots of protein and fiber so I do not crash like that again!

I keep things that I can sort of fit into but are snug. Anything that is too tight and several sizes smaller I donate.

De I did sleep well last night. I am still a bit sore, but hoping once I take a shower that I will feel better.

Thanks, De! I also have a range of 4-12... Yesterday I finally ordered new skirts in a size 10 because all my skirts and dresses are 4-8. I put the 4s and 6s in storage containers under our bed... I am running out of space in my (tiny!) closet. I had kept them for several years hoping to fit into them again in a few months, but.... I will probably only lose another 5-10 lbs before I (hopefully) get pregnant. and then.... I guess I will be shopping maternity wear?!
