I suspect that is the case. Wednesday will be here soon and you will get more information. In the meantime, hold tight. I know it us unnerving, but you and she are not alone. Hugs.

Hey everyone! Hi Elle!

Cindy~ I still have not heard anything from the family doctor so maybe you are right about them finding something and letting the neurologist explain. Guess April 1st we will know something. She is feeling pretty good. A little cranky and tired here lately not sure what is causing that or if it could even be related. Mother in law is here until Monday so we all have been so busy running here and there and not sleeping like we should; so will be glad when things slow down some.

Hello! Sorry I'm not caught up on the thread yet, but I thought I would just pop in! :) Patrick is in Berlin for a conference until Wednesday and then he is off to Vancouver for another conference. The apt is so quiet (and clean! haha!)

The weather is so nice today. About to go for a run.

Great. Make your own decision about his/her abilities based on what you hear, plus you can still go see the other doctor if you are not comfortable. I have several doctors that I use that have only okay ratings on that site and I would not trade them for the world. And they are leading in their field in the region to boot.

Any word on the results yet or is your family doctor going to wait and let the neuro explain. If that is the case, I suspect that they saw something on the EEG.

How is Carley feeling today?

Joyce glad hubby is back in the working game. And yes it is similar here for the timing of the first check. Have a great day.

Joyce glad to hear your husband is starting back to work. It works about the same way here. Waiting is never fun.

The family doctor was able to get her in with someone else on April 1st. I looked up his rating on healthgrades and it is not impressive, BUT it seems everyone is scheduling way out past May so guess we will have to stick with it. Just want to know what our next step is.

Hi
Deb I agreed it is a long time. Call them and ask to put on waiting list for cancellations
Good luck

Not much, finally able to breathe s little easier. Husband is back at golf course job that starts around late march to november and than collects unemployment insurance for rest of time. But the waiting period sucks. We had to wait 7 weeks for a cheque

How does that work in the united states?

Glad weekend is here

Have a great Friday everyone

Joyce, glad your back is starting to feel better. We have beautiful temperatures, but the rain also won't stop here. Such gloomy weather!

Cindy, how's your day going? Hopefully your busy week is starting to slow down.

Debbie, Cindy makes a good point. That's an extremely long time to have ti wait. Hopefully you well be able to get in sooner.

Nothing much going on here. Kids are back home from school and doing homework.

Hope the rain goes away and that your back continues to heal.

No I don't get up at 4. When my kids had their EEGs I had to put them to bed at 12 and wake them at 4. I need at least 6 hours a night to survive.

Debbie any word yet from the doctors?

good evening

finally a chance to sit and reply.

Elle - i agree with all the ladies here, things happen for a reason, some you just have to let it go and see where it lands, when one day closes , another opens, trust me i have been there and back so many times.... it will all work out. emoticon

Dee - what is the deductible for you to fix your car? i am sure you are like me, i can do a load of laundry every other day. i am so behind with it all.... piles to fold etc.
i like to do it watching tv

Cindy - wow , you go to bed at midnite and up by 4? is that cuz your body clock says that is al you need or because of all the work you have to do?

Debbie - Good luck with Carley and the tests

thanks for asking everyone, back is better than last week,
i am feeling blah, rain and rain is what we have
i had monday off and went to seattle for the day, didnt buy a lot , spent $30 . the exchange is not very good right now but glad i had a break

my mom is eating but not as much and very tired all the time/

well back to laundry not,

have a good thursday everyone

Cindy the primary ordered it so we would have a head start on what is going on and yes he is sending the results to the neurologist. The only thing the person that did the test said was she did not see anything alarming. Not sure what that means, but relieved some there. The doctor also ordered blood work not sure what they are checking for there? Maybe blood sugar levels because I read low blood sugar can cause them, but the ambulance staff took it and it was normal.

De she works at a nursing home as a dietary aide. She really hates the job she has been there 4 years now, but they work well around college so she sticks with it because of that.

Wishing you helpful results Debbie. Which doctor ordered the EEG? If it was your primary be sure that he is sending the results to the neurologist. Hopefully they will call tomorrow.

Neurology may be waiting for the results of the EEG before scheduling the appointment. I suspect that they will get you in fairly quickly especially if the test is abnormal.

Debbie, have you tried calling the neurologist back to remind then about making the appointment? It just sounds strange that it's taking so long. Hire many hours I'd Carley working today? Hopefully, it's not another extended shift.

Cindy, why did you have to wake up at 4a? Did I read that right? Iv do hope your many appointment this week go well for you. How is your day going?

Maya has just gotten home from school and Alwx should be here shortly. It's snack & homework time in the house. Still peaceful! For some reason I have a headache and hoping it doesn't stay.

Me too. When the kids were really little I let them sleep longer and would always get in trouble even though they would fall asleep on the table with few problems. When they were a little older I would park them in front of the tv with a fave movie or show and catnap on the couch while they watched.

Luckily none of mine have needed one in several years and hopefully won't need one again.

De hope you get your car to Harold on time. How long have you been working nights? I worked nights when I work at the detention center many years ago. I liked the quiet, because all the kids were asleep but sometimes staying a wake was very difficult.

Carley is very strong willed! I love that about her in some instances, but in situations like this! Boy! I told her she has to listen to the doctor that now that we know there could be an issue with seizures and she was to drive and cause a wreck it would be totally her responsibility. I was just reading that if you are diagnosed with seizures you even have to let the DMV know about the condition! I really think hers is brought on by excessive exercise, BUT I am not a doctor and would hate to say it was ok to drive and something happen! emoticon emoticon

Debbie, Carley sounds like an extremely strong women, just like you. It can't be easy for Carley being dependant on you to take care of her. She really should still be taking it easy and try not to do too much. Hopefully you are able to get an appointment soon. It has to be hard waiting and not having all the answers you need.

My shift last night went by pretty well. I have about 15 minutes left until the morning shift arrives. Hopefully she's on time and I could get the car to Harold on time.

WOW you all have been busy! I do not get my email notification because sometimes my inbox will be full letting me know when you all are replying but sometimes (like now) nothing. I thought I know those ladies have to be talking more than that so went to look and now I am behind as usual. LOL

Joyce hope you get to feeling better soon.
Elle know things will work out for you. Like De said everything has a reason.
Cindy I am so glad I have you to lean on while going thru this with Carley.
De thanks so much for being there for me too! You all are so great!

It has been a long haul for Carley. The day of the seizure she called off work but had to work two 12 hour sifts. Luckily yesterday someone cover the last half for her. She is so tired! Not sure why? Is it normal to feel that way Cindy. I figured she would be right back to normal. Anyway she is already tired of me taking her everywhere and wanting to drive. She keeps reminding me she is 20 years old and can make her own decisions. WISH that doctor would call soon! emoticon

Elle, I am a die hard believer that everything happens for a reason. We may not understand why something is happening in the actual moment, but will actually say thank you later on in life. Last week my car was hit while parked at work. My initial reaction was to get pissed off and all stressed. I started wondering who would do something like this? Why would something like this happen to me? How will I come up with the funds to fix it? I eventually told myself it isn't worth the stress headaches and everything else that comes with stress. I thought of a solution and it's going to be fixed tomorrow. I should have it back and running by Wednesday. I also ask myself, what's the worse that could happen if I don't get what I am asking for? To then realize that the worst isn't that bad.

Cindy, what's up girl?

Nancy, thinking of you!

Joyce, how's your back feeling? Hope you had a wonderful visit with your Mother.

I need to go and get some laundry done.

Elle my best advice is to keep focused on the present and not worry so much about the future. We all have plenty going on right now that need our attention. Also by focusing on now you might pick up on a vibe that could tell you where things are headed and you don't want to miss that.

Elle, we are totally here for you. Life will take you down different paths and we have to learn how to go with the flow. I have learned through the years to not let things out of my control stress me out. Definitely not an easy task, but it helped me to stay positive and get through many days.

Cindy, how's your productive day at home going?

Joyce, totally wishing you a quick recovery? Have you had to deal with back pains before? How was your day with your Mother?

Thanks for the positive thoughts!! I think you are right, I'll try not to put too much pressure on myself. There is only so much I can do... A lot of this is out of my control... I think that's the hard part. I keep wanting to find some way to blame myself, but I know that's unhealthy. running is a great stress release.

Hope you are enjoying the weekend!

Elle, you are such an awesome friend by showing support to your co-worker. Hang in there because your time to celebrate will come. I can't wait to do the happy dance with you. Putting pressure on yourself isn't healthy, but sooo glad that you are releasing it through running. Stay strong and dint give up hope.

Cindy, what's going on in your world today?

Debbie, how is Carley feeling this morning?

We just made it back from breakfast and now I am heading to bed. I am extremely exhausted because normally I am asleep by now after my work shift. I guess I know I could sleep all day without having anything to do. Hubby will be taking care of the kids.

Debbie - so sorry to hear about your daughter's seizures!! I hope you figure it out soon. It's wonderful that you can get so much support and advice here from Cindy especially, since she knows about seizures. I hope I make my goal weight. I've been working really hard at staying within my calorie range and running in the mornings. It would be so great to get there. I keep visualizing myself in some of my favorite outfits I used to wear when I was that weight. maybe it will help!

De - My days have been ok. I've been having anxiety attacks about work - very mild ones, I can usually keep it under control, but I don't know if I will get a permanent contract there. My contract ends in August, a friend of mine found out on Friday she got a permanent contract after only 6 months there, but she is straight out of school and an interior designer, so maybe it's different. Anyway, I have to meet her for coffee now and pretend to be really happy for her, instead of worried about myself. I've been going running a lot though, so I think it is helping. went for 4 miles this morning. How are you?

Debbie, I am soooo sorry to hear about Carley's seizures. Through my experiences with them, please also notify her direct manager at work to make them aware. I had an employee who had a seizure in the middle of her shift while working the desk. It was the scariest situation we had to deal with because we had no idea what to do or even knew of her condition. Luckily another guest who was extremely knowledgeable jumped right in. We made sure she was safe and called an ambulance and her family. Please make sure her work has up to date contact information for you just in case something happens there. The entire situation was completely overwhelming. When were you about to get an appointment with the neurologist?

I don't know enough about panic attacks. The neuro exam and EEG would be better judges. If both came back normal they could be. Definitely talk with the neurologist when you see him/her.

Cindy what are your thoughts on panic attack do u think this could be that? I just don't know. She doesn't have experience panic before the seizure like episode. If it was panic attack wouldn't she experience the fear of terror b4 all this?

Debbie as a parent of 4 children with epilepsy I can tell you that seizures come in all shapes and sizes. The neurologist will do a full exam and will probably order an EEG to see what her brain is doing. It is non-invasive, just lots of wires temporarily glued to her head during the test. If she is having seizures they will most likely prescribe an anti-epileptic med which should help to control them. Carley will also have to learn the signs as best she can that she is about to have one and get herself to a safe spot.

Seizure protocol for convulsing seizures is to protect the head from trauma and get them on their side if at all possible to keep their airway open. If she is aware and can do these things for herself that is great. If she cannot, then those around her on a regular basis should know this protocol so she does not end up with a skull fracture is her convulsing involves her head banging.

They are scary at first because you feel helpless as the parent/observer, but keeping the person safe is your job and then helping them after. It sounds like she is not going post-dictal (not being able to remember anything) so she can provide lots of information.

***Also be sure to notate the date, time and length of each seizure as they occur. This is important information for the doctor.

For now just do some reading and get yourself familiar with some of the terminology, etc. Hopefully you can get in to see the neurologist soon so that they can assess her more thoroughly.

Morning girls! Yesterday was crazy! Had a friend that was very sick and passed out was attending her and just got home when one of Carley's friends called saying she (my daughter) was having a seizure. This is the second time she has had one. The first time it happened we had her taken to the er. The doctor at the er said she thought it was panic attack (which I doubted but accepted at the time). I did not take her to the er again because of the way she was treated last time. I went to the doctor with her. He listened intently and put her through a series of test. I told him that the other doctor from the er thought it was not a seizure and blamed panic even though Carley had no fear before the incident only after she started convulsing. The reason they did not call it a seizure is because she can remember everything and can talk at times through it. The doctor said he did indeed think it was seizures but simple partial seizures. People can talk and remain awake while a partial seizure is happening. Only part of the body convulses. He put in an order with a neurologist so I guess we will see. She is not allowed to drive until we find out what is going on. All I know is it is so scary when it happens! I looked up partial seizures and she has a lot of the symptoms: nausea, uncontrollable crying, uncontrollable movement, sudden paleness, heart racing, flushing then chilled...I looked up panic attack and it starts with a sudden feeling of fear and terror...She both times is talking normally and even having a good time then all the sudden the leg will start kicking and then everything follows. STRANGE! Has anyone ever heard of this? emoticon

I have already grilled 4 times! LOL I love grilling the food is soooo good, but I really need a new grill! Mine is rusting on the inside ( where the flame comes out)and my flame is in the middle now. So I really have to rotate my food because all the flame is concentrated in the middle. It is hard to get things done.

That is what happened here Debbie. Katie has always had issues with cats and then we brought Sweet Pea and she was pregnant and did not like dogs either. The kittens tolerate her, but Katie has a tendency to run at them at times, so they learned to be protective.
