Hi everyone,

the good news is: Only 1 hour of work left, then the Staff Party to endure (hate those). Then my Christmas Holiday can start.

I am looking forward to some good time with friends and a few trips out of town. then in the new year I want to take the first 4 days to plan out my year and set my goals both for work 7 for my own life.

The next 2 weeks I will not be online much, so if we don't talk again I wish you a Happy Christmas and a Great New Year!

Hugs

Thanks Janette,
as expected the nausea went after 1-2 hours. Was a bit depressed about the hostage situation in Sidney, was to close to my own memories or Westgate, but thank God it is over and with relatively little loss. I am so glad that they managed to rescue most of the hostages. I know every life lost is too much. But let's be honest they could have all died. If the police & special troupes in Sidney were as disorganized and power hungry as the Kenyan ones it would have been a lot more bloodshed.

Anyway the good news is: Only 4 more days of work and I am on Christmas Break!

Hi Berry,

hope the wind has let off and the people with cold are getting better. Had a nice long weekend. Started the morning in the gym. But having this nausea again. Have noticed it has to do with what time I am at in my periods. It is worse in the first week after TOM.

Well right now am waiting to feel better.... I know I will in 1-2 hours, but am so no enjoying this. Need to exercise after all that good food this weekend....

5 more days of work, then I get a 2 week break!

2 people in our house of 5 are down w/ head colds. The rest of us are hoping to "miss out"! -- Made a crock pot full of lentil soup for dinner tonight. Yum!

The wind is really ripping around outside, but at least we have power! Yeah!

HI everyone,

I hope you are enjoying the weekend as much as I am.

Yesterday I went to the gym, then in the afternoon we were at a birthday party in a chinese restaurant.
Today I washed clothes, then I went for a manicure. In a little bit I will go pick BF & his Daughter in law and we will go for a wedding reception (another Sikh wedding). This evening I want to try out my new 3-in-1 microwave (bakes & grills as well). My old one had broken down & I decided to give myself a new one for Christmas.
Tomorrow it will be golf and then another birthday party.

Well I do hope the exercise will counterbalance the food we are eating.... LOL

But this the right kind of fun break I needed.
Wishing all a great weekend

Thanks ladies! I know they have special guards for this and I had suggested it several yrs ago when I heard he was doing it. The bf and his ex are the one's that always take him to his appointments, and they said that the dentist didn't want to go the special guard before. Something about waiting for his baby teeth to fall out as he was going to be going through a lot of changes? They kept putting a protective sealant on the permanent teeth as they were coming in is my understanding? And just keeping a close watch on it. He goes to the dentist and dr pretty often it seems to me. Not just once or twice a yr. I think they were thinking about doing the special guard when more of his permanent teeth are in. He still has a lot of baby teeth from my understanding? I really don't know a lot about it, just the little bit the bf, or ex or kid tells me. But I have been so proud of the way he has been behaving lately. He has been a lot more nice too me, a lot more of doing what we ask of him right when we ask it and a lot less whining, complaining or doing just the opposite of what we ask or just doing what ever he wants. Not sure if the difference is because of the counseling he has been going to, or if he is just trying to be on his best behavior as Christmas is getting closer. But what ever it is, I am really liking it.

Janette,

that grinding of teeth needs to be taken care of as well. Otherwise the new ones will give problems too. There are some things like braces (no idea what they are called in English) which you put in your mouth at night to prevent you from grinding. Worked well for a friend of mine.

If I hadn't had the great insurance Germany provided those days, I would have teeth all over the place. I had 10 years of braces & retainers, but now I have an almost perfect set of teeth. Apart from the one I knocked as a child, which is slowly dying off and turning dark. But I will not do anything for now, since it is still only slightly darker than the others and I can't afford a replacement or bridge or whatever.

Still waiting for approval, but then I don't think there is any reason not to approve.

Can't wait for the Christmas break to refresh my mind and then hopefully in the new year the new consultant will have the clout to change the way Directors do their things. As much as they know they need to change, they keep falling back in the old habits and I can not say too much since I am reporting to them. Consultant will be on same level with them and he is a man.....

Thanks Steph! He had already lost two teeth earlier on the bottom front sides and then had to have a tooth pulled out besides each of those areas. So it is something like this:
{0000 0000 0000} on his bottom teeth. As supposedly he is grinding his teeth in his sleep and they two they pulled were really ground down bad, and they were not falling out like they should have and the permanent teeth above were trying to come in crooked since those teeth were not falling out. And his teeth were already getting a little jammed in together as he has a small mouth. So he is going to need spacers later to try to get the teeth coming in correctly too supposedly, and maybe even braces or a retainer. I bet he will later have to have his wisdom teeth pulled too, as he looks like he has the small mouth problems that I had growing up. They had talked about pulling two of my teeth the same way and or putting braces on me as my teeth were too jammed up. But we couldn't afford it so my teeth just got too jammed together. And then later I had to have my wisdom teeth cut out as I had no where for them to go and they were not coming in correctly either.

At least he was a trooper through the whole thing and all this week with us he was really well behaved too.

I hope you get your time of Steph. All my best to you all always. Janette

Poor guy having teeth pulled before Christmas can not be funny....

Am hopefully looking forward to a long weekend. There is a public holiday on Friday (Independence Day) and I have applied for a day off on Saturday. Hope the bosses will not deny, since I don't have that much to do any way.

Finally had the long overdue talk with BF. He actually seems to understand what I am talking about and says he had not realized he was acting that way.
Well we will see how the future will be.

Another busy day in the office. Why do all these things others mess up keep on landing on my desk? Why do clients prefer calling me with their complaints etc. Hmmm - oh I forgot I am Miss reliable.....
I will follow up and make sure the relevant people do it. But I shouldn't have to. Well if the Consultant who is joining us next year, is as good as he talks, then we should finally get some of those changes we need.

I treated myself with a nice leisurely lunch in one of my favorite restaurants. Then I went home & relaxed with a good book. Sunday I had a nice breakfast, went to play golf & spend more time with my book on a lounge chair in the sun. Went some grocery shopping as well, since I had run out of pretty much every thing.
Then to bed early both days.

Today I started the day in the gym. Hope to go 3 times this week. Will know by Wednesday if I have the energy to get up early.....

Am exhausted and it is only midday.

We had to sort out the hand-over documentation for a project for a colleague, whose brother died. She didn't tell us there were special requirements. Luckily I talked to the Consultant Engineer yesterday. So my assistant, the autocad technician & I had to stop all other work and -redo the final accounts, redo the test result sheets (format!!!), create other tables, redo the technical schematics and ensure all documents match (don't laugh, this is Kenya), I had differences of almost 10 cameras for the HQ between test result, schematics & the actual (all 3 were different).
Now we are almost done, just struggling to print the final accounts (64pages) in a correct format. Rider is on standby and will hand deliver to the engineer.
Person approving final payment is going on 1 month leave from tomorrow and needs to have the documents, which the engineer needs to approve first.....

I will take my team out for lunch as soon as we have dispatched the documents.

The weather is really mild here, but it is really expensive to live in Ca. I am sure it is cheaper in MT from what I know about MT. We are having colder, rainy, windy and cloudy days right now, but we are suppose to warm up again sooner or later. There was rain over the night and early morning today, but it has stopped most of the day. It is suppose to start back up over the night and morning again though. The front yard has turned into a mud pit and the dogs are having a ball running around in it, until I make them let me try to wipe their feet with an old towel before letting them back inside. Neither of them seem in to much of a hurry to go out in the yard while it is raining, but they still liked their walk in it yesterday.

Steph, sounds like your boyfriend and mine have some stuff in common, LOL. All my best to you always.

Geez, we still have snow on the ground and it's raining! Grrr, I wanted to get out and run today but I don't do it in the rain. I don't mind snow because you don't get so wet. Ok, I guess I wait about an hour and if it stops I may go. Janette, sometimes it might be nice living down there!

Hi everyone,

a better day than yesterday. I had good meeting with the Director, but am still waiting for the 9am meeting with the Consultant (it is 10:30am now....).
Getting project related issues sorted out. But their are some tight deadlines to be met. Have given the instructions, let's see how the team shaped up without my help...

Have not gotten much exercise in this week so far. Have been so tired, that getting up early to go to gym at 6am has not worked, I would end up too tired by afternoon to function. Need some relaxing, have not even had the head to sort out things with BF, since I had so many other things going on. Have not seen him in a week, but then he really hurt me last week and does not even try to understand why I am hurt.
He wants me to go on a Senior Golfers Trip this weekend, but I have not even asked for an off, since I can't see it. He will again talk with his friends only, answer me in monosyllables to me and the highlight will be that I get to drive everyone home..... I need some serious me-time and a good think. So I will stay home.

Thanks Ladies! It rained on and off yesterday and has rained most of today. I know we need the rain and it's not causing any problems for us, so it's fine with me. But there will be some places in San Diego and other places that can't take that much rain all at once. So there will be some flooding and mud slides, especially in areas that had fires previously. So I feel bad for all the people dealing with those issues. But Calif is in a drought phase, so rain is good. I took the dogs for a short walk in the rain today along with letting them out in our yard in the rain every so often so they can do their business and get some exercise in. And I was out in the rain dealing with chores I needed to get done today too, didn't bother me at all.

All my best to you all always.

Well the sun also only comes out at times. This is supposed to be the beginning of the long hot dry season, but weather patterns have changed and we do not get as much sun as we used to. But then we still get more than you during winter time.

I guess hormones, sinusitis and then some issues in my life all work together.

Yeah, we are having beautiful days, and some times it is staying in the 70's at night too, or until the wee hours and then dropping a bit. Last night was one of those warm nights as we are having a bit of a Santa Anna right now. I didn't even need a blanket or any thing on me last night. I have been sleeping on the couch or in a lazy boy keeping an eye on the puppy that is being crate trained. I threw a blanket on the leather chair or couch and had another one ready to wrap up in if need be, but haven't needed it all week. The other dog has been sleeping on the foot of the couch with me or the bf, as the bf and I have been taking turns as whom gets to sleep on the couch and whom is sleeping in a lazy boy chair. A couple of nights the puppy feel asleep in my arms on my lap so she didn't get put in the crate. But a couple of nights like last night she is being really nippy and trying to wander around, so she ends up getting put in the crate. But luckily she isn't crying when she gets put in it. She doesn't like to be put in it some times, but she always settles right down and goes to sleep shortly after being put in it at night time. I have been taking them on several short walks trying to get them use to wearing their Halti's and walking on the leashes. It is too hard to take the puppy for a long walk just yet as she just really doesn't like the Halti, if I take it off, she does better, but still pulls and tries play biting at the other dog or tries going between my legs.

Hope you all enjoyed your turkeys.... I had Kichiri for dinner ( a Indian Rice dish), here we don;t celebrate the American Holiday.

Was too tired for the gym this morning.

From now on, we will just do a turkey breast for Thanksgiving. It was such a better deal for size, cooking, and left-over "mess". (I always hate feeling like I'm wasting food, but cleaning up a turkey carcass is NOT my idea of "fun"!)
It was a pleasant family day. Even made 4 pies! emoticon

Happy Thanksgiving to you all.

Yes, I have heard people have problems with different foods before and after exercise. So you will just have to experiment with it and see what seems to bother you and what doesn't. Some times I exercise with out eating any thing first and other times I might have a banana, or oatmeal, or prunes, or yogurt first. And what ever I didn't eat of that before I eat afterwards. Luckily I haven't seemed to have any problems before or after.

Actually I realized that the nausea starts after my post workout meal.

I guess I need to pay attention if there is a difference between different things I eat.

I have always done my morning workout without breakfast before and never had a problem so far. I take a cup of black tea before. Will try out if putting some sugar in it or drinking herbal tea instead makes a difference.

Thanks for the tips and glad to hear others have problems as well.

I have heard that some people have problems with eating certain foods before working out too. That some times bananas and other foods can help or hurt, just depends on the person. So you might have to experiment with different foods or protein drinks or what ever.

Steph, interesting that you feel nauseated after workouts. I've felt nauseated too, so I try to have SOMETHING in my stomach before I work out. Even just a piece of toast. Flying makes me retain water too. I hate long flights.

Don't worry JMAHNKEN

we are also not on every day. Just pop in when we can and keep us posted. Great that BF is back. So you will have the Holiday together?

Went to the gym this morning. Then felt nauseated again after breakfast. Not sure what is happening. Anyway it is slowly subsiding

Still fighting the water retention from the flight. Going down to SA it was minimal. But now it is bad. Well I know it will take about 1 week to subside. Will not weigh myself until the ankles are back to normal size.

Wishing all of us a good day

I did get some sleep afterwards, then was back in the office by afternoon.

Now I had a good night sleep since and am starting to feel human again. Am glad I was able to attend the conference and think I learned a lot. Now we need to move forward and implement the learned things here.

Right now I am sitting in the office, trying to concentrate on work, but my mind keeps on drifting.

Wishing all of us a good week

Not a nice end to a good day. Sitting at the airport in Johannesburg waiting for the plane which is at least 2hours late.
Airport is otherwise empty and 2 airport employees started playing soccer. I just want to sleep.....argh

BERRY: That's a good article & yikes! I'm glad I don't make all those casseroles. Our turkey is the small, boneless & skinless one. I like my gravy, but, opt for FF. The green beans are just plain, the mashed potatoes are homemade & lumpy, the stuffing has no sausage. I also like my desserts. Yikes, on those. I've already started with the baking....cranberry bread is now in the freezer. Love that stuff. I'm sure the calories are out there.

STEPH: Sounds like the conf & shopping has been lots of fun.

Wow, Berry, great article. I didn't realize how many calories are in a Thanksgiving meal.
The only saving grace for me is that I run 8 miles every Thanksgiving (so I can say "I already 8") LOL!! Seriously, gratitude is an everyday thing, but Thanksgiving gives you a change to verbalize the things most important to you.

Thankfulness can and SHOULD occur year round! To put too much of everything into "just one meal" seems quite out of perspective, IMO.

Personally I thoroughly dislike the "should's" that seem to surround big events. I prefer to simplify vs. over-magnify a holiday meal. With that said, I'm putting a turkey breast in the crock pot, fixing home-grown mashed potatoes, several salads, & a pumpkin pie. (just the basics!)

Thanks and Congrats Steph!

I learned it really doesn't matter what the ex says she has planned as she or the boy always try to change the plans at the last min. I have just learned to try to go with the flow here. It's not that important to me as what ever happens. We never seem to celebrate Holidays on their actual date any more, which is fine with me. Been with them for over 5 yrs now, so I know nothing ever goes exactly the way we plan it, it always seems to get changed several times before the event actually gets there. I am not planning any thing, and not worrying about having anything special. I am just glad I have a roof over my head, running water, and electricity, and food in the house. What ever will be will be.

All my best to you all always. Janette

HI Janette,

just ask the boys mother, what she is planing. Hope you get some more me-time in.

Elisadenk,
no plans for Thanksgiving. Here it is a church holiday celebrated on a Sunday in September / October, not something every one does.

So we will be working, going to the gym and all the normal stuff....

I am almost ready to go. Only need the e-ticket link and confirm the status of my credit card. suitcase is halfway packed. Now need to get myself through a long day, even have the monthly chapter meeting this evening and then need to get to the airport in good time early in the morning.

Not yet, still don't know if I am going to be home all by myself, or if the bf is going to make it home in time for it. And have no idea where the boy will be either. I am sure he will want to be with his mom or friend's like usual.

Now I am only waiting for the e-ticket to be send to me.

Also of course got some running around to do like getting money changed (Kenyan Shillings can only be exchanged within East Africa, so when we travel we always need a different currency.

But looks like, even though next 2 days will be hectic, I will get all sorted out in time.

Then we will reach South Africa in the morning and conference starts in the evening with a Cocktail, so I have a whole day to relax.
Ok will have to check my emails, but that's about it.
