Are you ready for August???? -- Hard to believe DS will be back to college in just a month. Last night I helped him order textbks for classes. Two of them were over 800 pgs! One was over 400. Yikes!!!!!

As we "journey" towards health & fitness, here are a few synonyms for JOURNEY:

JOURNEY: adventure, campaign, course, drive, expedition, exploration, hike, itinerary, jaunt, migration, odyssey, outing, passage, crossing, pilgrimage, quest, route, sojourn, tour, travel, trek, trip, visit, wandering, progress...

Sue, your security settings are set high so I can't send you spark goodies. Let me know if you want to change that and I can send you instructions on how to do it if you want to do it and don't know how. And if you don't want to change it that is cool too! All my best to you always. Janette

Sorry to hear it Sue! And Debbie sorry to hear that it is smoky. All my best to you all always. I think I am going to take it easy today too. I have been running ragged with my sister for ever now. She is busy today doing stuff by herself. So I am going to stay home. Might get with her Sunday or Monday again. Janette

Ah Sue, that must be awful! Let us know what happens! I am resting today too. It is too smoky to get outside and I usually run from the pool and there is a swim meet going on, so I am staying in and cleaning house today! (yes, that would make it a rest day).

Good luck with that TOM! I remember mine was so bad I was anemic. No good. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF! Drink lots of water and eat healthy stuff!

Hi DebbiefromMT!

I am resting this weekend. My TOM's have been crazy..........The last one lasted 27 days, not continuously heavy though emoticon Then I had an appointment with Obgyn (referral by my Regular PA) after my period had stopped for about 15 days, where I had an endomitrium biopsy (That was VERY painful for me) which I started bleeding again and went into another cycle of TOM....At first I thought the bleeding was from the biopsy, they say some spotting is normal. SO long story short I am still in TOM now for another 7-8 days and counting, so I am slowing down on alot of activities! I did go for a short walk today but not pushing myself. Also, due to hormone issues, I am VERY emotional. Doesn't take much to make me cry............So far today, I am doing ok. Good thing yesterday is done!

Sue

BTW- I have to go in to discuss the biopsy results and what to do next for a next step. They did find some cells that possible I have simple endometrial hyperplasia without atypia........Yes, I am doing alot of research at this time to get educated. If you have any suggestions, let me know! As always, I appreciate any suggestions/ideas from anyone on the boards! Thanks for listening! And I suppose instead of chatting, I COULD have posted this message under symptoms..........Oh, well, the mind is challenged also.........LOL!

Thanks Sue and everyone else. I need more positive thoughts, prayers, fingers crossed, etc. I just had to put the truck in the repair shop today as it decided to run rough today and the check engine light came on and stayed on. So I am hoping it just needs a tune up or something minor and that I can afford to pay what ever it is going to cost to get it fixed. Janette

SO Sorry Janette! It is a sickness to want to hang on to so much! My mother has issues with that. So far she is able to be in an apartment but I don't know how long and we don't live close to each other! emoticon

Thank you for your message for me about ideas to be thrifty. I appreciated that. I am in the process of finding a progestrone cream or something, my TOM is crazy right now. All for now.

Yes, it is very draining! I know I have way more belongings than I need too, and I am always working on that issue with myself. Trying to get myself to let stuff go. But I have never paid to store my stuff like she has done for yrs now. And I know that deep down she knows it is not wise to keep paying money to store stuff when she is homeless or basically homeless just staying with one person and then another, and whom ever might let her crash at their place for a night or more. But still the sickness won't let her just let go of it all. I have tried to help her out financially too, until I just don't have it any more to help her. And I have stored her most important papers, pictures and much more for yrs and yrs for her. Hoping that she would turn her life around. And some times it seems like she is going to, but it never seems to last for long. But now that I am running out of money to help her any ways, she is having to deal with it one way or the other, and I am hoping that she will start putting more of the money she makes babysitting for other homeless friends or what ever to keeping a roof over her head instead of trying to store tons of clothing and junk. But I don't think she will ever completely get over it until she has no money and no one helping her to store it. I still have tons of her stuff in my garage that I have to go through and try to get rid of by shredding, recycling, donating, tossing, etc. And I know she has at least another family holding on to a lot for her too.

Hi Ladies, I am still really busy helping my sister, whom has been officially homeless again since last Monday, so for a week now. It is tiring work moving all her stuff that she had stashed at other friend's apts, and moving stuff she wants to keep from a big expensive storage unit to a smaller cheaper one. And donating, shredding, recycling, and trashing a lot of it. And it is stressful and sad to see and know that she is out there just sleeping on the street with lots of other ladies, men and children that have hit hard times. And just keep hoping that soon she will win one of the lotteries to get a bed in the women's shelter that she has been trying to get into for some time now, or get into one of the other local shelters. Today it started to sprinkle too and it got really cloudy, supposedly a storm is coming in. So I hope they can all stay dry and warm tonight. Luckily I don't think it lasted long, at least it didn't for me as I drove about an hr or so to my dry home from where she is staying at. And luckily we found her rain coat today in the stuff we were sorting through. All my best to you all always. I will be heading back down town to help her again tomorrow. Janette

Sue, So glad to see you back. Don't worry about us, just try to take care of yourself. I have been tracking my food in here now for over a year, so I am pretty good at judging what will throw me off and what I can get away with. So even though I have been bouncing up and down in weight the whole journey, I am not surprised when my weight goes up, as it is usually because I allowed myself to have fast food or junk food, and or didn't exercise as strenuous the day before. I am more surprise the next day after some thing like that and I still get a good weight loss. So just do your best to try to pick healthy stuff to eat as close to 80 % of the time as possible and give yourself about 20% of the time to cheat and that might help you to stick to it. I know eating healthy can be expensive but getting serious health problems from eating junk is really more expensive in the long run. I don't bother getting the organic stuff unless there is a really, really good sell on it. I have found just picking up a stalk of curly kale, a stalk of celery, a stalk of romaine lettuce, a cheap bag of gala/fuji or what ever type of apples you can get cheaply will go a long way to having a cheap and good lunch. I buy a big generic box of old fashioned oatmeal for my breakfast. If I find bananas and prunes cheap I buy some of them to go along with breakfast, or lunch, or snacks. I try to find cheap trail mix with nuts and dried fruit as a sweet and nutty treat for myself as a snack or added into my salads. I am unemployed so my money is tight too. But I manage to still get those things. Dinner is what ever the bf decides to bring home or cook and is my down fall. If things are really tight, see if you can get hand outs from a local food bank or Church, or maybe you might even qualify for "food Stamps/food assistance" from the government? All my best to you always. Janette

Newest Update All,

I am still looking for work. I had an interview today that went very well, It is for a per diem position. I am still trying to eat healthy but it is soooooooooo expensive!! I asked DH to walk with me today. That is so not me! emoticon I had to give up some things that were zapping us financially so no PC at home now, so I am back to using the computer at the library. Not sure how often I will get here. There is a PC a little closer to home. I know it is important to have this group as I continue to get healthy. Helps me keep track of myself.........Be accountable to my progress. I have never been one to really keep track of calories, maybe that is my biggest challenge. I am not really losing any weight right now, maybe it is my metabolism. Anyways, I have noticed when I choose healthy foods that it does improve my energy.........Isn't that awesome! Well, I guess I could go on, but that's it for today.

Sue

Bathroom cleaning is my least favorite thing to do too, lol. I use to have two of them in my old place. Now we just have one, but there is three of us always here, compared to just me in the old place. And this one bathroom I can not keep clean. I will just get done cleaning it and the bf, or his son. or his friends will go in right afterwards and just make a mess in there. They never change the empty toilet paper roll, they will just grab in the drawer and pull off some more if they need it, but won't bother to replace the roll. The white hand towel that the boys use are always getting dirt wiped on them. The bf's son refuses to stand at the sink when he is brushing his teeth, and instead tries to pace around in there so tooth paste gets all over. And he wipes his mouth off on his hand towel or bath towel a lot too, so tooth paste gets on them too. The son is always running around playing in dirt and gets it all over his clothes, in his pant pockets, shoes and socks and then dumps it out on the bathroom floor as he gets undressed for his shower or bath. Cleaning our bathroom and laundry is a never ending job here. Janette

Yeah, I can never get caught up on it even if I did it every day. As they just make more every day. I just did the boys, dad's and other stuff today. And then the bf picked his son up from a sleep over that his mom arranged for him last night, and he came home with a back pack full of dirty clothes, and his shorts, and shirt he was wearing were wet from swimming, and he had a big wet swim towel too. And I had already just did the bathroom towels and the towels from the kitchen too. So since I had been doing laundry since early this morning and was just finishing up folding the last batch as they came home, I just threw his wet stuff up on the washer and dryer. They can dry over night, and then maybe I will be nice enough to wash them tomorrow while I am baby sitting him as they don't have any summer camp or other things scheduled for him tomorrow. Janette

Thanks ladies. I didn't record any thing for chasing the kids around. I just recorded my cleaning the house before they got here and cleaning up after most of them left and that type of stuff.

Re: today, that county ofc was jammed packed with people, every time I go there it is jammed. I thought I was being smart this time by walking up there as it is always so busy that it is hard to find parking, especially for our big truck. And I didn't want to drive my car up there and not be able to lock it, as I could find my stereo at least ripped off if not the whole car. If you have an appt with them you get to sit in a seat and wait for ever for them to call your name. You need to be there way before your appt time though and more than likely you won't get seen until way after your appt time, at least that is how it has been for me when I did have an appt. Today I didn't have an appt as I just got the paper in the mail Sat when they were closed. So when you don't have an appt you have to stand in a really long line before you get to see some one to let them know why you are there. Then they might take care of the issue right then and there, or they may make you make an appt and come back another day, or they may make you take a seat until they call you up again, in which case it is usually an hour or more before they will call you back up. Today I was in the long line for hrs before I got told that they wouldn't help me even though the paper work said that they would if you needed it. Instead they passed me off to a medical clinic to help me as they claimed they were just too busy to help us all with this new paper work that they are having to do because of the new affordable care act laws/Obama care laws. The clinic was happy to help me and really nice and fast once they got back from lunch, but they thought it was really bad that the county wouldn't help me like they are suppose to do. So then I had to go back to the county ofc and wait in another long line, and I thought that someone was going to process my paperwork right then and let me know right then. As I was told that they could, but I guess they were still saying that they were just too busy to deal with it. So they just time/date stamped my papers and put them in a pile to be processed later. And told me that I would need to call this other organization to find out my status after at least 15 days for them to process my papers.

But if they grant me my coverage again then my medical and medicines are still free, so it is worth all the time and hassle. I just wasn't planning on doing all that walking in 90 degree muggy heat. But I managed. Janette

Wow Janette! What an ordeal! I don't think anybody up here in Montana would put up with that kind of waiting in line. Most people up here get impatient if there are more than 3 cars at a stop light!

I used to enjoy paperwork, but not anymore.

How is Summer going for everyone?

Thanks Debby!

The kids had a blast and didn't want it to stop. But the bf's ex set up another play date for the son today with another child, so he still should be having fun. More than if he just stayed home with me or his mom.

Today I had to run around, or should say walk around today trying to take care of paperwork to continue my Medi-Cal coverage. I got a big packet in the mail Saturday that needed filled out and turned in by the end of this month to try to keep my coverage. I photocopied just the pages that needed answered and filled it out to the best of my knowledge on the copies. Then I went to the county dept where I was suppose to turn it in to have them look it over before turning it in. But they wouldn't look at it to help me, they said I had to walk several more blocks to a health care clinic that would help me to fill it out correctly, and then I could come back with the completed form and turn it in. But I had already spent most of the day in line at the county ofc before finding out I had to go some where else. And by the time I got to the other building, they were at lunch so I had to wait for them. Luckily when they got back about a hr later they looked at my papers and said I did pretty good at filling them out. There were just a couple of questions about money that I answered incorrectly because I gave them info on the interest that I earned from my bank accounts and they didn't mean that type of money. So I was giving them info that didn't count against me. So she helped me fill the papers out correctly really fast and then I walked them back to the co ofc. But now I have to wait at least 15 days and then call another place to see what my status is going to be. So I am hoping that they will continue to give me Medi-Cal coverage. Especially since I have an expensive colonoscope scheduled already for the end of the month. Well take care every one. Janette

Sat we had four kids running around and chasing the dogs and playing on the Wii. And one stayed over night, so the two boys were playing the Wii late into the evening and then got up early this morning and started all over again. Then later this afternoon the bf dropped both boys off to the other family and they all went to the beach. They just dropped the bf's son back off a little bit ago. So he had a busy and fun weekend. I am doing fine. All m best to you all always. Janette

Thanks ladies! I am not sure I know which movie you are talking about either? I know Chevy Chase I think had some where relatives got together and it wasn't so great. Then there was the one, and I think it was Steve Martin and Queen Latifah and that one was funny about him thinking he was chatting on line with a white lawyer, but it was Queen Latifah whom just got out of prison.

Today we had a family that has been friends with the bf and his son for yrs come up with their three adopted kids. And we had a little BBQ for lunch of carne asada. They are letting their oldest adopted son spend the night with the bf's son and us. Which is just fine with me, as he is the only friend I have met of the bf's son's that is really sweet, kind, well behaved and great manners. His two younger siblings on the other hand that are his real brother and real sister are more like the bf's son. They are more spoiled and don't like to mind well. The couple are really nice too, so I don't mind their company at all. And the mom really does try to keep all three of her kids in line. It is both the dad's that let them get away with stuff. I could have done better on the eating today, but all in all I really did pretty well. I really could have ate a lot more chips and guacamole and other stuff, but I did manage not to pig out on it. So I am pretty happy about the way the day went. Then the bf got pizza for us for dinner and I stuck to just two pieces, even though I could have ate more as it was good too. And both lunch and dinner, I was the only one trying to limit my intake of food. All my best to you all always. Janette

Company could be good or bad or some of both. Interesting to say the least! Remember the Christmas movie with Steve Martin? LOL

Quiet day today. Especially after yesterday's 4th celebrations in town.

It can be sad as it is a living thing. But if it is diseased it could fall down in the wrong timing and maybe seriously hurt someone, cause an accident, or damage a home or some thing like that. So in that case maybe it was best to have it removed under safe conditions. We have some very tall trees of the neighbor's that could possibly fall and damage our home if they ever got diseased. And we have a huge oak tree down by the road part of our long drive way that could possibly damage another neighbor's home, or could block the drive way that we and another neighbor share, or land in the street and cause problems there if it got diseased. So in those cases I would hope that the trees would be removed or chopped way back so that they couldn't cause any real problems. And I have heard that sometimes when a big tree gets chopped down or removed that lets sunlight get to a seedling to let a new tree thrive where it might not have ever done so in the shadow of the other tree.

All my best to you all always. Janette

JN: You can come here and sweep all the saw dust off everything the tree guys left. emoticon

How do you feel about trees having to be cut down?

We have/had a tree next to the road that I've never liked. It got diseased (like all the same type trees in our town), and had to be cut down.

They did it this morning. Yesterday, I was miserable. Finally figured out that I was grieving over the darn tree!

I asked the tree-cutter in charge what his philosophy was. He just shrugged and walked off.

All my best to you all always. I have already been up and swept the house and the drive way. We get so much dirt tracked in the house and dog hair every where too. And then the drive way is constantly covered with leaves from the neighbors trees and dirt. I did some exercise already and walking too. Janette

Today I did some exercises at home and then I went to my sister's unit and moved boxes and sorted through more papers and stuff. But this time I drove my car there to give it a good test drive and it did great! I didn't make the horrible bubbling sound like before and didn't let any fluid that I could tell out of the radiator over flow. So I think they finally fixed what was making me hard drive the car before. Then when I got ready to leave I threw 6 boxes of papers in my trunk to take home and sort out in the comfort of my own home, instead of the hot storage unit. I will just leave them sit in the trunk of the car as I sort through them so the bf can't get too upset that I brought more stuff home from there.

Tomorrow I am going to take the truck and load up some stereo stuff that a child hood friend is going to hold for her and take it too their house in my old neighborhood. So that will be fun getting to see some old friends again.

Well have a great night everyone. Janette

I hear you on that one. In the beginning I tried setting up a lot of play dates for the bf's son, but he was so rude to me and others, and most of his friends are the same way. And none of the parents really want to hear about it or do anything about it. So I just stopped. If he or his dad tries to set some thing up, I don't try to stop it. But I also don't just offer myself up to it. They have to come to me and ask me if I am okay with it and if I have the time to supervise it. And that gives me the chance to remind them all that I expect them to behave for me and if they don't then the play date/sleep over/ what ever can be cut really short and really fast. Janette

I understand. I work in an elementary school as a substitute teacher. Many.... not all ...but many of the kids have no discipline at home and aren't expected to behave at school. If they get disciplined the school is "picking on them". Luckily the good out weigh the bad and we have many wonderful parents who stand behind the school and the teachers.

Wow, I don't blame you either Berry! We all grew up in a different time, when we were taught at a really young age to mind and respect our elders. But I have seen very few kids lately that were brought up the same way. Most of them that I know, including the bf's 9 yr old son, are spoiled brats that will talk back to any one and are very defiant. And a few that I met that seemed to have manners and seemed well behaved turned out to be sneaky little bugs that tried to lead younger kids in to mischief behind my back. There is only one little 8 yr old boy that is a true dream to his parents, me and others. He is an adopted son of the bf's high school friend, a really nice, sweet young man. Now his real younger sister, and real younger brother that they also adopted are spoiled brats. The youngest is the younger brother and he is mischievous and defiant.

BERRY: emoticon What a horrible day for you! Can you make a sign or something. "no children under 5?" "Unsupervised children will be...." Make it amusing but get the point across.

I used to babysit a boy who said the same thing, "you not the boss of me". Wonder how these parents deal with their kids. So sad.

Was reading a book called, "Malled" a biography. She was a journalist who ended up working at the mall. It was not a very uplifting book. Turnout time was about 90 days, she wrote. She ended up hating the public.

May you be able to take all the 'down' time you need at the end of the day. Whew!

Since I need to "cool down" for the moment... You all can tell me to "hush up"... but I'm going to vent for a few minutes. (I understand if this is not the appropriate place.)
* Background is that we have 5 acres of blueberries and are open for u-pick. It's my summer job, like it or lump it. The often annoying side of that is dealing with the public...

-- Anyway, I took on 3 kids UNDER the age of 5 today. This was 3 different kids, belonging to 3 different families, at 3 different times. One had the audacity to tell me, after I had instructed him, that "I wasn't the boss of him." So I told him in no uncertain terms that I was certainly the BOSS of the FIELD, and if he couldn't follow my instructions, then he could go sit in his car! So then his sister pipes up and says he doesn't know English. And I told her that he certainly knew enough to back-talk an adult!

-- Another proceeded to be the "wind" inside a bush and nigh on damaged the plant and the branches. I told him he had 2 choices: either stay beside his mother, or go to his car. He crossed his arms, refused to acknowledge me, and shook his head. When he refused to obey, after I waited, I picked him up (kicking & squawking) and deposited him in front of his mother, and then explained again what I expected.

-- And the 3rd child attempted to climb a pole with a sprinkler at the top. Dangerous for him and potentially quite destructive to the sprinkler. "Please get down and go beside your mother!"

...and so goes day #1 dealing with the public.

It's actually muggy here. Was rather surprised. LOL

Did a bit of yard work. It is amazing how one thing leads to another.

Started out with hanging 4th of July decor on the door. Then just had to pull weeds by the door to make the decor look better... etc.... domino effect!

Any special plans for the 4th? Hmmm... make make for a good Q of W.....

Are you all spinning the red flag on the Start Page for our Team. We are in 2nd place. :-(
