Do you research about St. John's Wort. I heard a few years ago that it wasn't a good thing to take.

Now?

Dear Berry,

thanks for the tip on melatonin. I can see it is one of the things in St.John's Wort. Does anyone have experience with St.John's Wort? I remember women at home using St.John's Wort during Peri.

So sorry to hear it Steph. I know I haven't been sleeping well myself for a long time. Family stress some times keeps me up with my mind racing, and other times it is more just health issues with infections, colds, bladder, what ever bothering me, and the weather has been muggy a lot which also doesn't help. All my best to you all always.

IMO- -and from what I've learned, estrogen overload can be caused by diet, environment, many items we are exposed to and can take MONTHS of work to find balance.

On those nights of poor sleep, I have found "preventative" melatonin (taken BEFORE I go to bed, the 1st time) to be helpful to fall back to sleep quickly. It doesn't mean I don't wake up, but it seems to help my brain not turn "on" to prevent falling back to sleep.

Good luck!

Last night was one of those nights not conducive to sleep......

The rain, the dogs and the thunders kept triggering different car alarms in our parking lot (not far from my ear.....) and I kept on waking up. Then there were some things that kept on springing into my mind. Had a hard time sleeping. The longest I slept at a go was about 2 hrs.

Today am feeling accordingly, like I have been run over by a truck......

TOM is extended again. Friday it was like it was finishing. Saturday I had rashes again and since yesterday it is like it started again. Just like last month. I guess i am still in Estrogen Overload. Need to find the time to see a second Doctor for second opinion, since I am not interested in this to continue......

Hope you all have a good start into the week

Berry4,

sorry don't know what a vitamix is.... LOL so no opinion on that from Africa..... Ok I looked it up, so it is some form of blender. Well don't know the difference to others.

JMAHNKEN,

so far the cold seems to be under control. Only little headache this morning and throat definitely imprved. Yesterday when I got home after work & lunch with BF I went straight to bed and slept 2-3 hours, then I still went to bed relatively early. I guess I needed it....

Went to play golf this morning and only coughed a bit, but then I had forgotten to use my asthma inhalor (stupid of me.....).

So let's hope for the best

I guess it would depend on the price of it and the price of a new one? I just started to use my bullet again instead of the juicer my bf got me a while back. They both work and both only hold a little. But the bullet puts the juice right with the pulp and the juicer separates them. I guess it would really depend on what you wanted the machine for and how much of a bargain it really is.

I fixed wild Coho salmon steaks for dinner a couple of nights ago... Yum!

Looking for an opinion / feedback: Would you purchase a reconditioned Vitamix if you had the chance? (comes w/ a 5-yr factory warranty)

sounds like you have some tough times right now, feel sorry for the boy and what his Mum is putting him through now.

Am at work. 2 more hours to go and I can finally start my weekend.
The technicians are busy staging for a major project. We have to deliver on Monday. NO time for full staging, only functionality test & programming of IP addresses. Then we have to keep our fingers crossed, that all will go well during installation. We had so many delays and have a tight deadline to meet.

this kept us busy all week. Am sooooo looking forward to the weekend. BF has to travel out of town, but want to catch a quick lunch with him before her leaves. Rest of the weekend I will just kind of crash. Feel like I have another cold coming.

Wishing all a great weekend

Sort of glad it's Friday. DH has been home on vacation, so it's been really nice inspite of the colds we have.

Evidently, having a leaky gut can make colds worse. ~ sigh

Hello Ladies, all my best to you all always. And thanks Debbie.

I am amazed that with all that has been going on lately that my ibs hasn't hit again. So I must be doing better at handling the stress. All though late Monday and early Tuesday were really stressful. Things are going a lot smoother right now, but I am still waiting for the next shoe to drop I think.

The bf's son was suppose to be with us most of this week due to his mom being on business trips. But some of them got cancelled and she was home yesterday. So the son wanted to go and be with her. But instead he only got to go over there for a short visit with the bf to discuss some issues that have came up. But the ex wasn't up to keeping him over night, so he came back to us. Luckily the night went really well, as he could have acted out just because his mom was home, but didn't want to have him spend the night with her. He is suppose to get to go to her after school today and spend the night, so we will have to see if she really does that, or she sends him back to us? I have a feeling that he will be with us mostly the next few months.

As for exercise and challenges, I think the easier they are to do and log the better chance of participation. Especially on my part, I belong to a lot of teams and even run a monthly exercise challenge for the Wii Fit Plus team. Instead of making every one do the same thing or choose from a couple of things like we use to do, I had to switch it so that all and any exercise counts, even house work. And every one just had to keep tract of how many mins they got in per day and for the month. They got to log what it was if they wanted, like walking, swimming, various activities, house work and such. Most of us log that type of stuff any ways in here, so it isn't that hard to get that daily/monthly total. So you could do some thing like that. Or tracking your water intake is also another good and easy one. Tracking your steps might be fun for those that have pedometers or such that could give them the info.

Well take care everyone.

Hi everyone,

hope that all those who have been feeling under the weather feel better now.

I am just under work pressure. Finally went for my review on Monday. Doctor says the thinning endometrium, they found in the histology is a sign of end of peri being near. Well just to make this statement look like a joke I started TOM that day. Started slowly and then hit with a vengeance. This morning I was basically dripping.... Well it has slowed down now.

Fibroids seem to have shrunk as well.

Now Doctor is suggesting uterus ablation. Not sure what method they use. Also she has taken some more blood for thyroid test. Am waiting for that result now.

Still want to go for a second opinion.

Did get out of the house for a bit, tho.

Muggy here.

Called City Water Dept. New filter was installed on Friday. Still tastes like dirt!

We usually drink the water from our refrig door that has a filter on it. But that filter needs changed and the bf has been putting off buying a new one for some reason? But we do us the water from the tap a lot too, which has no type of filter on it. I had mentioned getting a filter for it when we first moved in but the bf didn't see any need for it since the refri had a filter on it that we could get good cold water from. And since then we changed the sink faucet to one that has a sprayer on the end of it, so I don't know how a filter would work with the new one any ways. I just had the bf pick up more bottled water as we haven't been able to hear any news on TV or internet about the boil order being called off yet like I was hoping.

I hadn't heard any thing about a state wide problem with the water either.

I had the crowns put in two yrs ago from one dentist, paid thousands out of my own pocket for all the work as the cheap ins that I had then basically only covered my check up/cleaning and ex-rays. They said I had to see their specialist in their ofc for my dental work for some reason and specialist were not covered, so the ins didn't want to cover any of the work. I had just got laid off before going to them too. I hadn't been to a dentist since as the ins I had at that time decided before it was time for my next check up that they didn't want to do business in California any more. So I lost my dental ins, and had spent most of my life savings on dental work and car repairs shortly after being laid off. But this yr I got new ins from being unemployed and low income and that ins wanted me to go to a dentist last June. But I had to pick a new dentist from their list. The new dentist said that all the work that the other dentist did looked really good, especially the bridge that he put in my back lower right side. I didn't mention to either dentist that I am getting food stuck in between two of the crowns on the left side. I have just been putting up with it. But my new ins wouldn't cover any thing to do with it any ways. They will only cover very little, and mostly to do with my front teeth for some reason? So I will just put up with it as I don't have the money to do any thing with it really any ways. Just kept having too many car repair bills each yr that I hardly have any money left now. I just ended up about a month ago putting 800 in my car and 800 in the truck shortly after that.

Well all my best to you all always.

JM: I get food stuck between two of my crowns, too! On the right side, tho. Dentist wants to put in a larger crown. $525 w/ insurance covering the rest. What is your dentist recommending?

BERRY: Don't watch many movies anymore. Mostly read.

DEB: Isn't the Lord of the Rings mostly sounds... hardly any conversation?

Our water still tastes like dirt. Heard it was a state-wide problem, and they are working on it. Our water filter isn't working that great, either. DH finally went to the store to get bottled water. He had to go to two different stores, first one was out. :-( Need to be cooking up chicken stock and veggie stock. I asked him if he wanted them to taste like dirt. Guess we are going water shopping soon.

Personally, I would NOT recommend this movie for the younger set. -- Without a point of reference, I would think that a younger child would really miss what is being presented. Plus, even though it is PG-13, as a parent I would want to provide the "parental guidance"!

Teaching can be done in so many ways. IMO it is one of the very most important things a PARENT does! -- I commended a mom today at the grocery store with 3 or 4 kiddos in tow. She was teaching her kids as she verbally encouraged them to pay attention to people around them, and to make sure they weren't wandering aimlessly into someone's "space".

Thanks, I haven't seen it. The bf's son is 9 yrs old, so we watch a lot of cartoon and family stuff. Or sports for the bf. But some times we will watch some pg 13 movies with him if it is something that we think is a good movie, or if the bf really wants to watch it. Most of the time though the bf tapes stuff from the tv and then we will watch it first to check it out before deciding to let the kid see it with us again. Once in a while we go to the movies, especially if the company that the bf works for did some 3D work on the movie. They worked on Alice in Wonderland, the smurfs, shrek, iron man, transformers and lots of others.

Just wondering if anyone sees movies on a regular basis?? -- Since I have teens at my house, there are occasional movies that come up for watching all together.

Tonight we watched "Divergent" (PG-13; March, 2014).
-- As a teacher by "trade," I could see all sorts of room for discussion or a paper to write and consider viewpoints presented, psychology of "being human" and best ways to guide or "help" society.
-- I recommend it as worth seeing.

Sorry to hear you and your hubby are not well. The bf's son is fight a cold too and since he has been here on and off I started sneezing a lot on and off like I might also be coming down with his cold or allergy problems. Luckily it hasn't amounted to much for me, so maybe I will get to by pass his cold this time.

I eat salads a lot, but some times the pieces of carrots, celery and such get stuck between two of my crowns and get trapped underneath them on my left side of my mouth. And trying to get it out with my tooth brush doesn't always work. And getting it out with floss can some times hurt just as much as the food stuck in there. So some times I eat the salad on the right side to avoid it. But with the right side messed up from the infection I didn't want to do that. So blending the food all up sounded like a great idea. Made my own version of a green smoothie, it was good and a lot cheaper than the store bought ones. And healthy too. I am back to eating solid foods now. But will make one again if it starts bothering me again, or I want some thing good and fast to eat/drink.

All my best to you all always.

JM: Glad you are finding something that works.

I actually ate a salad today w/ soft veggies. Also making my Veggie Soup.

Not feeling well. DH didn't go to work today, b/c he's not feeling well. Think it is a cold. So, we are both just 'hanging'.

So sorry to hear it. Sounds like time for soft foods and liquids, then no real chewing. I threw veggies and fruit with a little pineapple juice in my "Bullet" blender when my mouth was really hurting from this infection. No real chewing and tasted pretty good and was healthy for me too. Oatmeal has also been really good for it, and yogurt.

All my best to you all always.

Had a 'deep root' cleaning dentist appt yesterday. Left me with less chance of losing my teeth, but also sore gums, sore jaw and exhaustion. Wasn't fun. So, now, here I am, a person who eats mostly veggies, wondering what I CAN eat. And, because of the tiredness, don't rightly care WHAT I eat.

Oh, and my tastebuds aren't back to normal, either! LOL So, what I think may taste good...doesn't. And, vice versa. Geesh!

My eyes are burning and I'm having congestion problems. Probably has to do with the nasty fires down south.

Thanks Ladies. All my best to you all always. The antibiotics seem to be bothering me, so taking another medicine to try to help with that problem. But my mouth luckily seems to be healing nicely so far.

JMAHNKEN,

thanks for the info.

My weekend was fun filled. Friday we just got home & crashed at home, yapping and telling stories. Saturday we went to the National Museum, then to the Mamba Village (Mamba = crocodile in Kiswahili) to see the crocs there and then late lunch at Galleria Mall at the KFC. Yep we do have those ones now.

Have been to the gym twice this week. Finally just booked my appointment for Monday. But also want to go to another Doctor for a second opinion.

Windy today, and warm. Went for a walk (see August Challenge) and got blown around!

Our newly adopted cat is coming along nicely. She actually poked her nose outdoor. :-)

How is everyone else doing?

Monday? It's Monday already?? Where did the weekend go??

BIL'S dad just passed away. We knew him some. Rather sad. Had a major heart attack, put on life support. BIL and family drove 2 days to reach him in time. Major stressing. Ended up BIL and family were able to 'talk' to him. Felt like DH and I were in waiting mode. Waiting for him to die. They finally decided to take him of life support. Funeral is Sat in a different state. Trying to figure out how to get a sympathy card up there.

It's interesting to note how grief can wear on a person. DH and I are both tired.

Gotta go to dentist on Weds. NOT looking forward to it. Something about Deep Root Cleaning. Sounds painful.

Well the spot keep trying to fill back up with blood and pressure little by little each day so that every time I tried to clean the area it would bleed. So I decided to go a head and start the antibiotic tonight to try to get it completely healed.

All my best to you all always.

Suzanne was the blonde driving the little sports car that the one guy was crushing on and trying to catch up to in the movie.

DEB: I googled up American Graffitti. Yikes! Those actors were too hyper for me. Made me feel hyper!
