Hi Sherio5

Thanks for info on PMDD. emoticon
I think I had heard of it somewhere in my research.
I like to learn about different medical issues and what symptoms
can occur. I used to watch shows like Call 911 or Mystery
diagnosis, but I don't have cable now though.

Wow SHERIO!

The cream can be purchased at a health food store. No need for a prescription. The good thing about the cream, is that YOU get to control it.

I'm not. My doctor and I tried to use many varieties of progesterone, natural, synthetic, birth control pills...My body just seemed to do the opposite of whatever was expected to happen! I just have unsuppressed estrogen, which caused hyperplasia of the uterus, thus the need for a hysterectomy (precancerous) .

We never tried a cream. Where do you get yours? Prescription?

PMDD is pre-menstrual disphoric disorder. It is more than PMS, it can be severe depression, rage, and anxiety. I have always had strange cycles, 10 days, 60 days..My doctor said I had very low progesterone. It caused lots of issues...

You definitely MUST be glad to have TOM over with! Sorry hard to lose weight emoticon
I have been a little heavy flow to start at times but mostly regular flow so up till lately, now I am light, or should I say the last TOM was very light-2 days nothing on the maxi. But never know what will happen during "Change" so I am glad to learn what I can to prepare myself emoticon
Thanks for reply!

SALAD4ME1,

I went through 2 to 3 years of having my TOM for two weeks or longer and when I had it I flowed heavenly for 4 days straight. Like changing pad and tampon ever 30 minutes to an hour.
If you have ever used O.B. tampons ultra absorbency I'd feel them up in 30 to an hours time or a few hours.
Then I'd go 4 months with out any TOM.
I had allot of HOT flashes and moods, ruff stuff for me.
For me not having TOM any more it makes losing weight way harder then I ever thought:( but this is just me.....
I personally could lose weight when I was in the Perimenopause stage.

Elisa I get emails from this site all the time. Even thought of trying there product have not yet. I use to be on Ambeene.

As for how many have i had of these symptoms I'd say 15 of the 16.

But now I'd say I only have half of those since i've not had TOM in 1 and a half years:)

I agree with you, Sue! I think every woman here is here because she is taking steps to have a healthy, balanced life.

I struggled with PMDD for a good chunk of my life, so Perimenopause is is not much of a change. I just tell people health issues or hormones, it really isn't their business unless I want it to be.

Hi JLUV!

I DO agree it is important to see ourselves as beautiful, That was a nice website, thanks! I don't think I am giving in to hormones, and I don't think others are here doing that either. I believe in being good to myself means resting when I need to rest, so I can be my best friend, not enemy emoticon
My husband said to me yesterday, as I was going through hot flashes and low energy level, maybe we should just go home and I said, "I can't stop because I am going through this, I wouldn't get anywhere"
He is soooo supportive though and said,"You don't want to make yourself sick"
And other friends of mine are supportive also. It is nice to have others to talk too!

Thanks again!

BERRY: I see what you mean. How to tell a 27-yr old man. LOL My suggestion is to pray about it and hear what the Lord would say. Telling him like DD that your life is out of balance sounds good, too.

Hi Berry4 (Hugs!)

I see now, so maybe just saying hormones may be sufficient in your case.
Sorry about your symptoms right now, It truly is a mixed up time for sure, hard to
know from one minute to the next.......... I heard it said somewhere that as we age we go backwards in a way, so maybe we seem to be in that mixed up teen yr. in our
imbalance emoticon
It will pass! I had to give up a job in health care, there were too many demands and this was prior to my diagnose/ ha ha of peri-menopause! I could see my energy just
slipping away. Sometimes we can be our own worse enemy.......We need to be a friend
to ourselves emoticon
I hope everything works out emoticon

Part of the "background" on "what do I say?" is that I've been working under a 27 yr old male with our church middle school youth. What he's been wanting from the staff and what I've been able to give aren't matching up. So I emailed him that I was stepping back for at least 6 months for "health issues". ...and he wants to know what?? So I'm a bit at a loss to explain myself.

As it is, I just had to ask forgiveness of my 14 yr old dd for being short with her and complaining when I arrived home from errands. I'm completely "out-of-balance" with life right now.

Thanks Elisa for the website. Very informative. I'm dealing with at least 12 out of that 16. And I'm forwarding this to my dh so he knows too.

Hi BERRY4

I agree emoticon
I am 12 outta 16 also!
At least we know we are not alone! It DOES sound funny to say "I am cutting back on things because of HORMONES"
I have been telling everyone "I am in perimenopause now" Saying Hormones to me is like saying I am a woman because hormones is part of being a woman emoticon

I have 7 of them. Luckily I have a good support system at home. My sister as well as my best friend are going through it right now. My husband is very supportive and understanding...of course I haven't turned into the wicked witch (as of right now) like my many people I know. He's very good, especially when it comes to my scatter brain...I think it drives me more crazy than him.

Oh, I agree on the support thing, or lack of ! It's like most women don't want to talk about it, or admit to the struggle. There's a book book called the Silent Passage. It's about Menopause, has anyone read it? It's been awhile since I read it...

I have had all 16 at one time or another, but thankfully, not all at once!

I, too, have pulled way back. I am now pretty much just a homebody.

As for womenly support? just wait until THEY go through this! HA!

Yes, tell them hormones. They may not understand... yet. But us women, I believe, need to get the word out there. I think many male doctors just shrug it off.

Then there are places/women like this link who understand and use the opportunity to make some $ and help others. :-)

I am 10 of they symptoms. Thank God, they are not all at once.

I sent the link to DH. :-)

I believe this is the website source. I think I signed on with "Everyday Health" and then chose the Menopause category for newsletters (about 1 1/2 yrs ago...not that I can remember!).

I like that particular website overall. There is one other that I receive emails from called:
ManagingMenopause@EverydayHealth.com

But as to the question--I'm hitting a solid 12 of 16 issues. Yep, I'm "feelin'" it. I think the hardest part is that other people in general just do not understand. I feel a general lack of support in my personal relationships (dh wants to know when this is gonna end??!). And you think I know???

As I pull back from activities to attempt to lessen my stress load & response, other people basically say, "What's wrong with you?" What do I say?? HORMONES!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?
