There is no way he would do that... I think he likes the extra weight- which I have always hated, and I doubt he would use a blanket that cost him $$ to use. He's quite the bargain hunter, and that would never fly :) I ask him all the time if it bugs him that I throw them over on him, and he says no- bless him...I used to fold it down, but it would end up wadded up between us, and that would make me feel claustrophobic and I would nearly freak out.

LOL!! Serves him right! But I do the same thing. DH will let me double up the blankets on him when I get hot. I found a heating blanket that has 2 controls so he can heat up his side while I leave mine off!

I had to chuckle last night. My boyfriend has too many blankets on the bed for me, and he knows it, and he accepts the fact that when I get into bed, I'm folding the extra over onto him, because I don't like it. I, of course, still wake up in the night hotter than heck from time to time, and I have to close the door (to keep heat from wood stove out) and turn on the ceiling fan.....last night it was HIM...I got up to use the bathroom, and he asked me to close the door..."What?! You are too hot?!" He admitted sheepishly that he was...I just laughed and closed the door, getting a kick out of the fact that it wasn't me :)

January is the month of resolutions. I don't formally make them. But, I make them....kind of. It is the month that I usually join an official SP challenge team. This time, I joined the Official January Jumpstart Challenge Team. I went to Zumba twice this week, after missing nearly 2 months. (ARG on all that time missed, but it is what it is.) I have some friends who've decided to start a 3 month get fit challenge of their own. Friday will be my new weigh in day for awhile. Today I start. See ya later! Wish me luck! I'd encourage you all to find a SP challenge team, if you haven't already. They are a great motivator. I should probably join a new one each month, actually.

Sometimes goals are a day by day thing when major events have transpired. -- I guess it depends on if you are a "big picture" person or one who takes life as it comes!?!
When kids are involved, it changes the dynamics... Sorry that 2012 was a tough year, Pat.

I for one am already wishing it were Spring and days were longer and brighter. -- I started taking daily amounts of vit.D this month to see if it helps me get through the grey, rainy days.

EVERYTHING brings them on. Cold outsite and I have the heat set to 65* just to keep DH warm! I found a heating blanket that has 2 controls so he can have his side warm and I still kick the blanket off of me. I just hope this is temporary!!!

Believe it or not I use to cry and the most stupid stuff, no really I did. And also get up set at things that were not worth getting up set about.
It was bad enough that hubby wanted me to find some thing I could take....
That's when years ago when visiting my Niece she had taken estorven right after her 5 child. She did not take it long. But it helped her...so I thought why not give it a try and yes it helped allot.
I don't take it any more. But I know it worked for me.

OH and I don't know if the hot flashes brought it on , just know that I would cry when there was no reason to.

It has been my experience that just about ANYTHING can bring on a hot flash, unfortunately. Hang in there! I used to always be the cold person in the room, but things sure have changed once I started getting hot flashes. I'm hardly ever too cold, anymore.

I've never experienced crying bringing on a hot flash (I really don't cry much-my hormones have spared me that) but I'm sure it could. Here's to hoping whatever is making you cry isn't very bad and is just being spurred on by the hormonal roller coaster ride we tend to take as we walk along PeriMenopause Lane emoticon Pat

Here it is January 9, 2013 and I still haven't sat and penned my goals for 2013 or gone over what I've accomplished for 2012. 2012 was a very hard year emotionally due to criminal activity of my ex-husband and the residual effects on my kids.

I think I need to sit and force myself to re-think '12 and what I want for myself in '13.

Have a beautiful day all, Pat

Research is a good thing.

How is everyone doing? Hanging in there was some of the new starts one wishes to make this time of year? That Zumba class last night was the busiest I've ever seen it. It is a time for new beginnings.

I must admit, I have not done my homework fully on researching the BC pills. The last time I took them before this was 17 years ago, and she tells me that the levels of hormones are much lower than back then. I never had any adverse side effects then, and I don't smoke- never have, so that should reduce some of the risks. It is, however, on my to-do list to do more research on my own. For now, I'm willing to give it a shot for the first 3 months to see how things go.

I've been on 2 "barefoot" cruises. Smaller and more informal. One alone and one with DH for our 20th Anniversary. We also took a trip to Alaska but not on a cruise. The Alaska cruise sounds interesting though, Actually, I would just like a fun vacation this year, not too picky where!

I've always wanted to go on a cruise ship to Alaska, too!

When I lived in northern Oregon, just about every other person had visited Alaska one way or another.

emoticon Happy New Year Ladies! I love Berry4's book idea. I haven't had much success with New Year's Resolutions, but I recently heard that every day can be a "new year" and you can make a new resolution every day. That will definitely work for me. If I have a bad day, I can do better tomorrow. It feels good to not beat myself up about not accomplishing my New Years Resolutions.

Michelle: My doctor also put me on bc pills to reduce my symptoms of hot flashes, heavy periods and mood swings. It took several months to get the periods more normal, but the hot flashes and mood swings went away pretty quick. But there are risks to using bc pills. I hope your doctor told you about them.

Ooo. Cruise ship exercises. Sounds fun and "outrageous". I would love to go on a cruise. If anyone is planning one and wants more friends to come along, keep me in mind. I've always wanted to go to Alaska.

Back to MKELLY72 -- what about upping your calcium / magnesium intake for heavy flow? It took about 3 months to show change, but it did make a difference for me.

And on the cruise ship ??'s... it is kind of my "dream" that dh & I will take a 9-day Alaska cruise for our 25th wedding anniversary. (However, his job is somewhat in doubt since the global company may be filing for bankruptcy within the next year???) Our 25th would be in June of 2014.

Just read an article about Cruise ships focus on fitness. They have come up w/ some good stuff and some weird stuff. Oh, it's called, "unique innovations." LOL

One is doing a black-light spinning class at sea which will turn everyone into ultraviolet glow sticks.

One is boxing workouts.

One is where participants are strapped into safty harnesses and clamber among beams, platforms, nets and other hazards. Doing all this in the open air 200 ft above seal level.

One is 'doing the Plank' 8 ft beyond the side of the ship.

NO Thank you!!!

How about you??

I have them further apart sometimes, but mostly they are closer- this was the first time it was this close though, and I hadn't even started taking my new Rx for BC pills that my healthcare provider gave me as an option for treating my symptoms. Hoping that getting the hormones regulated will help with the symptoms. I started those the day after my period arrived. Planning to follow the accepted plan she gave me of taking them straight through and only going off once every 3 months, so I'm hoping that will be a pleasant relief from the period.

Me, I'm presently trying the strange sounding cough remedy of putting Vapo Rub on my feet. Yep! Sounds weird to me, too. I'll let you know. I'm feeling a bit better, but this cough is still pesty.

You know what's great? Getting the surprise period only 13 days after the 1st day of previous cycle when you are all dressed up to go out for New Year's dinner with your friends. Here's what I'm grateful for though....I discovered it in time before we went out the door! Could have been worse I guess.

Daily Affirmations:
I am strong!
I am fit!
I am healthy!
I am beautiful!
I can do anything I put my mind to!
I am loved!

"You have to find something that you love enough to be able to take risks, jump over the hurdles and break through the brick walls that are always going to be placed in front of you. If you don't have that kind of feeling for what it is you are doing, you'll stop at the first giant hurdle."

The new year is like being the author of a new book that will come out at the end of the year. Every day is a page in that book. Write well. Realize that others are reading what you write.
