Well, my plan is working pretty well. No extra snacking last night. Boy, you can spend weeks, months, even years stuck in a rut, afraid to break out of it. But with the right combination of time, energy, commitment and support, you can get yourself out of it. Well, I hear that habits takes 21 days to re-learn. And I think I'll need all that time to cement this one into my life. So, I keep on truckin'!

My plan did not work very well last night. I came up with some excuses that I will have to ignore next time. I did stay in my calorie range (although at the higher end) and I stayed at 169 lbs this morning. So, tonight I will go back to day one when I sat on my hands, looked at my fat pics, anticipate my one yummy snack, and say to myself "I am worth it". Wish me luck.

Last night I saved up some extra calories and had a more calorie-dense snack. But it just left me wanting more, so maybe I won't do that very often. And it is still hard to not eat; that bad habit is very ingrained and I really have to work hard to fix it. And so, I continue to work at it each night. It took me years to develop this bad habit, I'm sure it will take more than a few days to fix it. And as a result, I'm starting to see the scale dropping numbers!!!

Thank you everyone for your support. I did really well last night. No extra snacking. It was still tough to break the old habit, but I'm one more day closer to my goal. It sure helped to know you all were behind me and it helped to look at those fat pics. And the one snack I did, have tasted marvelous because I anticipated it all evening. That's what a snack should taste like. emoticon

Elisa: Sometimes you have to endure the boring food until you get a handle on the calories. I know I've been there. But you'll be able to find something not so boring in the future.

Brandtsgirl: I think I've seen some articles on SP that show some great low cost foods. I hope you find something good.

Yesterday, I was able to stay on the lower side of my calorie range. It's the first time EVER! Wasn't hungry!! Truly weird. Hopeing to do it again today. However, the food is boring. ....

Thanks Elisa and Brandtsgirl and the whole team for cheering me on. Last night was tough. I waited and I thought about my goals and I thought about why I eat. But I still had a couple of snacks not on plan. Two steps forward and only one step back. Not too too bad. This is definitely a process and not a quick fix. I found a couple more old fat pics. They are disgusting and even though I'm smiling in them, I'm very sad on the inside. I don't want to be that sad again. So, I try again tonight. I will remember all your support for me. It is very comforting. Thanks again.

Elisa I'll be honest with you.
I eat out of board-um...and also because I can't afford to buy the things I really want to have around my home when i do get hunger.

I recently bought 4 fruits however I'm not the only eating then.
I do the best with what i have.

Okay, I've thought long and hard about this: My bad habit..... eating too much..... DUH!
THAT's why I'm on SP!!! Now, to figure out WHY I'm eating too much!!!

Is emotional eating a HABIT?????? or is it called something else????

Night 2: I did it again! Only two snacks that fit into my nutrition plan. But it was harder to do than the first night. This is where I usually give up (I know, I usually only last a day or two). So, tonight will be a challenge to continue. I will find other fat pictures to help me stay on plan.

Well, I did it! It worked! I had just one snack other than fruit. I sat there and looked at my food journal and looked at my fat picture every time I wanted to go raid the fridge. Let's see if it keeps working tonite. I think the secret is to pay a lot of attention to the plan until it becomes a habit to not eat all night instead of my past habit of eating all night. Replacing bad habits with good habits is how I've lost the last 40 lbs. Keep on truckin!

One of my bad habits is nite time snacking.
I have had several plans to stop it, but so far they haven't worked (or I haven't worked them).
So, I think tonight will be a GREAT time to follow a plan.
I will allow one snack.
My plan to resist going back into the kitchen for more snacks?...
I will keep my food journal and a "fat" picture next to me and look at it all night.
I'll let you know if this works.

A Discussion on Comfort, Part 8
Taken from and inspired by, "The Book of Comforts" by Alexander and Burgos”

What do we do about needing comfort? It seems that during this Season in our life, we may be needing more comfort.

Sometimes, the only way to conquer a bad habit is to accept the reality of it, then to PLAN for it. (night time eating, for example)
