It's been 2 months since my last one, and it's my first time to experience this too. I'm 43 years old, and was getting a lot of hot flashes throughout the day. I'm taking Adrenal and Thyroid supplements that seems to be helping ease off so many hot flashes. (Well, I believe it's the supplements that are helping it.)

LAST TOM was October 17, 2013. I know that I have been quite lucky... the hot flashes have been minimal, compared with my poor mom. I think the toughest part is the fluid retention, and perhaps mood swings. I guess at this point, I am just wanting to get it overwith and become menupausal.

Went 3 month then 3 months again before started last week of July into /1st week of August and now another tom this week. Both of these last ones have been EXTREMELY heavy so if have this again in a short amount of time will have to call the doc in case there is an issue. I have not had any "female" problems at all in my life so these perimenopause issues have been very challenging.

I am in my 4th year with hot flashes and night sweats. Haven't worn sleeves since it started. tom was every 3 months first year, then 6 months and then every month second year, then every 6 months last year and now holding breath as 9/1/13 will be one year. Thinking hot flashes will diminish slowly, hoping. But so looking forward to no more birth control. Other than flashes and weight gain in tummy, no other symptoms. Now hoping to get back on track and re-lose those pesky 15 that reappeared and then move into next phase.

So far, the furthest apart mine have gotten is maybe 4 months. I just had one last week and I'm really not sure when the prior one was.

Its been a while since I've had more than one in a month but when I did I was definitely wiped out. It was really that feeling, more than being worried that anything was wrong, that made me go to the doctor and get tests to make sure it was perimenopause.

White noise helps me to sleep. This time of year I've got a fan going constantly and that helps a lot. When its not the fan, I turn the radio on just loud enough to have the low noise in the background. I still wouldn't say that I sleep well, but it does help.

A few months ago I moved into a basement apartment. If I don't turn lights on, its perpetually dusk or pitch black down here, depending on the weather and time of day. I didn't think that I was tired, until I moved here. Now that its dark and if I don't set the alarm there are days when I'll go to bed at 10 pm and sleep until 11 am, its made it really obvious how poorly I'm sleeping. (of course, sleep is a whole other topic...)

Hi BETMET1

emoticon I don't experience TOM's like that emoticon

I DO however have nights like you describe..............I hate 'em emoticon
Another member here posted 16 signs you are in peri and included on that list is sleep difficults..
I am tired all the time and do take naps though some people say that isn't good sleep hygiene but if I don't take naps I am cranky (already deal with mood swings so don't want to make things worse....LOL). My fatigue is so extreme that daily tasks are a chore, but I try to emoticon

HI TERACT10!

I have to say emoticon WOW! I thought once you went a yr. without a TOM that you didn't get anymore symptoms emoticon I have been in peri I think about a yr. now dealing with hot flashes and fatigue and newly have water retention, etc. Lately I have been very moody too emoticon

Ok, so today I have something that resembles TOM but so light don't know if I can count it emoticon
Maybe if it continues (?)

Congratulations! I'm counting the "years" before I can say I'm in post menopause. The rate I'm going, I'll be in peri-menopause for the whole 10 years! It's been 3 so far! Anytime it wants to stop is fine with me! LOL

This morning my poor husband went running out of the house. All he did was say good morning & I felt like smacking him in the head with a frying pan. Poor man. I think I love him more for putting up with my mood swings.

Happy day to everyone!

Every day I wake up on this side of the dirt is a good day!

HI all
My sister and I have been trading symptoms for about a year now...(1.5 yrs apart in age, I just turned 50)...she went the every 20 days route and my body just plain stopped...she ended up getting D&C after her blood counts would not come back up from the excess bleeding, even on vitamins. I get those monthly aches (and mood and fatigue and cravings and water weight...ugh) but then nothing happens. Now I am a year out from my last TOM, my sister is jealous, but I get sweats still and wake up at 2am wide awake then drag the rest of the day...I hope that part will stop soon!
Glad to find this group!

WOW, Elisa!

I am soooo happy to know someone else is dealing with this symptom too! emoticon emoticon I have never tried peppermint tea but willing to give it a shot! WELL, I try eating a few crackers and eat tums like candy sometimes emoticon I take Prilosec but Sub Doc said not managing my Acid reflux (Do you deal with that issue?) so going to try Nexium and if that doesn't help will have upper GI scope.......I wrote you another note under High Estrogen topic......I think that covers it emoticon
This is all new to me with peri symptoms.
Thanks for being here for me emoticon

Hi TINKKY!

emoticon emoticon
My first missed TOM was this yr. March 30th then whole month of April went by with nothing so called Doc in Middle of May then I started before I went to appointment emoticon So Now I had my TOM at around end of May and still waiting now for it to start again........Well, I wouldn't miss it if it never started again emoticon
I have been dealing with Hot flashes(embers? emoticon ) for about a yr. I went through checklist on a thread about 16 symptoms to know if you're in peri-menopause and I have 12 out of 16 right now! Recently I carry a piece of paper to fan myself as needed emoticon and moody a lot lately! Did you ever experience feeling sick/nauseous during peri or meno?

Again, CONGRATS!

Sherry--Perimeno can last several years, as it did with me, but each person is different.

It is official, after my appointment at the ob/gy she says I'm in post menopause as it has been more than a year since my last period, and I don't miss it!! Yahoo!! but she did warn me that if some spotting should happen(heaven forbid) that I should give her a call.]

Yahoo!!

VK: Nope. TOMS arrive all over the place. It's normal as for as unbalanced hormones go.

PATRICE: As for as I know, one doesn't need to ovulate to have a TOM.

I'm a little confused because mother nature has decided to play with my system. My OBGYN confirmed that I was in perimenopause and I've been praying for the day that my cycle would get the message and stop.

Here's my predicament: I've had 3 periods in 40 days. They've started exactly 20 days apart. The last one was only light spotting....for now.

What gives? I thought they were supposed to stop not start?

Every day I wake up on this side of the dirt is a good day!

I've been charting my cycles since 2009 when they started becoming irregular. Prior to that, like many of you, they were like clockwork.

The past year, periods have been coming every two or three months, and I just keep shrugging when they arrive, wondering when the eggs will run out! Started again on Friday.

(I'm 54.5 and as long as my libido hangs in here, am ready for the bleeding to stop any time!)

Well, I went the longest I've ever done since I was a teenager.... 3 weeks! I think it was due to all the stress involved in FIL's surgery. Kept praying, tho that TOM wouldn't arrive. DRATS!

Going on 11 weeks for me....I used to be so regular that I would know the exact day I would start every month.

Heard back from my PA--she said all blood work was acceptable, except for the Estrogen level-still at 320, where 140 is considered in menopause....now what??? I have to make an appt with the gyno for my yearly----are there any pills to take, or surgery, or anything?

Well good for you Tinkky
I'm not sure what they are waiting for on the tests.
