I hope your bug decides to migrate to someone else very soon - they can be real friendly though!!
Take it easy at Curves - the chances are you might start coughing again - just go easy!!
I'll bet you can't wait till the op - hopefully it will make a difference - then you can get bacjk to it hard - but allow healing time first.
I might have trouble getting to Curves this next week -we have had a huge amount of rain recently and the water was over the road slightly this morning but since then there has been heaps more rain!! Thats life!!
If I have to - I'll use some of my Chair Exercise DVDs - but I still need exercise despite the weather!!
Have a great week!!

Hi! I had no idea what I was in for because we never did use the machines. It was 30 minutes of dancing and needless to say at the time I didn't think about the ankle but needless to say after I was finished the ankle was hurting worse. I just got an injection the other day and my surgery on the ankle is scheduled for April 24th so I shall not be doing any of the zumba for awhile. I have been sick since Sunday a week ago and coughing my head off along with chest congestion, head congestion, aches and pains, I picked up a goodie. Going back to Curves on Thursday. Hope you enjoy your day. Its sunny here today and I am heading to ceramics and lunch with my daughter. Have fun! emoticon June

Thats what we doo in Zumba - we do 1 min on machines and we are told to take it at half pace -= and 1 min on the floor doing Zumba. - so it ends up in the 30 minthat you only do one round of the machines instead of the usual two!!
You need to watch both knees and ankles in Zumba - in fact our Trainers have been told to tell people with bad knees and or ankles not to attempt Zumba!! I don't do it now!! The new trainer we have taking iyt keeps telling us she is going slow but se is at least twice as fast as the old trainer was and very few can keep up!!
Glad you are feeling human again!!
And I just realized I forgot to change Chat to Feb - so I'll try to remember to change it for March!! Oh dear - slacko!!

I have been in the one Zumba class and the instructor had said on the machines we would do 60 secs instead of 30 secs but we never did that. I have to watch this ankle, I got an injection yesterday and my surgery is set for April 24th. I have been sick since last Sunday, the aches and joint pain went into a very bad head and chest cold. Today I am feeling human again. Hope everyone enjoys their Saturday. emoticon emoticon June

We have what we call Super Strength - that sounds the same sort of thing!!
In that class we only do easy recovery things but the emphasis is on the machines - concentrating both on form and on effort - so we basically work as hard as we can on the machines. However we do all work to our own levels - some work (and are capable of working) much harder - I only do what I can - yes we are encouraged by the trainers to "go for it" but we still only work as hard as we can ourselves.

Yes, June, take care of your ankle. Our Curves did not have Zumba this winter. I have been disappointed. Has anyone had a Resolution class in their club? I didn't participate but it was using the machines but the leaders push you to work harder. After breaking my shoulder in 2011 and having a shoulder replacement I did not feel comfortable doing it. I am curious whether people enjoy this class or not.

I know when its raining you don't feel like going out in the mess! I did the 30 minutes Zumba Class yesterday at Curves althoough we did not use any machines and one instructor said we would. We did a lot of moves and dancing for 30 minutes straight except I kept running for
my water which I always have with me! I haveto remember my ankle, I am due to have surgery and I keep putting it off getting injections which help so ankle is really sore today because of some of the moves. I had fun really enjoyed it .....we all even had cowgirl hats on Woo Hoo!! lol Have a great day and a great week-end! emoticon June

I had planned to go to Curves today. It was gloomy and rained a bit. So I ended up exercising at home and also some housework.

Sorry June - I meant to answer yesterday - but - well you know me by now - trying to burn the candle at both ends!!
Glad you got bacjk - I agree - its like something is missing when we can't get to Curves and after a giood workout - I feel tired - but its sort of a good tired!!
Don't forget to drink. It may be winter and the last thing you want is a cold drink of water - but its really necessary to stay hydrated after exercise especially - but all the time.

Good Morning, I was not at Curves this past week as I had a varicose vein procedure in my doctor's office so I am able to return to Curves tomorrow. I still have to wear a thigh high compression stocking but that will not be a problem. I am still at my same weight - 211 lbs but I hope to bring that down soon as I am looking at Onderland!!! Enjoy your Sunday everyone and have a great day! emoticon June

Now you really sound like you are getting the hang of it!! WooHoo!! Don't worry about the time - the machines will be times by the computer and you need recovery between remember so pound those boards!! Stretching is important - it increases your muscle strength, and gives time to cool further.

I am about to do my diary for today and yesterday!!.

Thank you, you are right, I found that out when she showed me and when I went there today so I just do what I am suppose to do and when it ends then I go to the next machine. I made out okay and I did it in about 30 minutes then did the 5 minutes of stretching. I hope you do well with the diet. A new diet takes time and perserverance as you already know. I hope it works for you !! Take care. emoticon June

If you are using the tag on Curves Smart - the "change stations now" doesn't apply because the computer decides when you have done enough!! Don't worry about the others working - they can go round if they are impatient!!
I think we all find our best time to workout - it tends to be different for everyone.
You have a good week
The new diet is going ok - but has hit a slight hump - I am waiting for the counselor to iron it out before I report in my diary today!!

Hi, yes I did notice the tag is sensitive, I need to get used to putting it in and waiting till the red comes up even if it comes over and says go to the next station. I will get it down pat in the next few times. Yes, I do eat adequate protein and carbs before my workout and after. I know the first time I went in the morning after breakfast and I eat breakfast but not a big one and I felt like my blood sugar was really low. I tend to go an hour a fter lunch now and find the afternoon is better for me. I hope you have a good week! Your are doing great with the diet. emoticon emoticon June

I think Curves causes you to have carbs on the brain - they really don't like them!! But remember you need some carbs to be able to exercise fully.
Curves Smart will work you - but don't get fixated on the computer and the lights - don't push yourself too hard especially the first time.
Great that you got no Red - I have once - and we thought that was to do with taking my key out too soon - you need to wait until the red light is there, and in ours we have to wait a moment after that or it won't record. Tempremental!!
I'm glad you find the resources useful - but as you say - they would be no use for your cousin - but I am sure she loves to hear all about things from you - and as you get stronger and lose weight she will be so proud and happy for you.
I am glad you are reading my diary too - its a new adventure for me!!

You are right, it is Curves Smart. I think I have carbs on the brain as I am always watching my carb intake. lol I started the Curves Smart, she had me go two rounds as a test and then I did the workout. This time I was sore when I left and I did the stretching. I was able to see what muscles I worked and how hard and then it also gives you percentages. It shows on a model the muscles and then some dots are green, some orange and then some red. The green you worked to the max and the yellow dots would be 90% or lower, if you had red dots then you needed to step it up. I did not have any red dots. YEA! I did not realize the Zumba was 1/2 machines, I have no idea as I have not been to a class yet. I was just reading your diary for Curves Complete. I hope it works well for you. I was telling my cousin, who lives in NJ, she is 86 and just about blind, about you and how much help you give to the Chair Exercise Team and all the resources that you have for us. I told her about Spark people, she does not have a computer plus the sight would be a problem but she thought it sounded wonderful. I told her about the teams, challenges and all the support from members. She thought it was just great. I will be reading your diaries as you advance with Curves Complete. emoticon emoticon June

I think you mean Curves Smart - using the computer - but maybe they call it differently!! Its great!!
If we get a breakdown over here - we have to wait till its shipped from USA - can be up to 6 mths!!
Don't forget the Zumba is 1/2machines - so uyou get to sit and rest as you do 1/2 pace for 1 min (instead of the 30sec dash) on the machines - lets you get your breath back for the next min of Zumba!!
But its about moving and enjoying - so just enjoy!!

I just got back from my Curves workout, started about 3 weeks ago. I have to get into Carb Smart now that I am used to the machines except something is broke and they are waiting on a part do you believe so meanwhile I will workout on the machines and hopefully it wont be too long till I can see how hard I am working. They also have Zumba and I thought I would work up to the class. I have done Zumba in the water at the YMCA but not on ground, I would have to do a little at a time. I thought after I got used to the machines and am enrolled in Carb Smart then I would try Zumba. Hope everyone is doing well!! emoticon

You sound to be going really well
I have been using Curves Smart for maybe 2 yrs - and sometimes I could smash the computer and sometimes I love it!!
It has helped me though - my strength has imprioved out of site - I have gone from being in a scooter to walking over 1mile once - but regularly doing 5000 steps!!
I love the company too - we are only there for 35 or so mins and everyone comes and goes but we still get to know each other and I never walk in withough a shouted "Good Morning" and all through my workout I get asked "how are you" or "you are looking great"
and the same group of us (all over 50) often go for coffee after Zumba or Super Strength.
Get used to the machines and Curves Smart but then you might look at the classes (accoring to what they offer and you can do) - but the Zumba has beem amazing for my balance - we have 1 class a week of very low impact for us oldies - so our knees and legs aren't so twisted and its not so hard for us - and what we can't do we invent and giggle!!

Hi, I just started doing Curves about 2 weeks ago. I am at the point that I am now familiar with the exercise machines. I joined Curves so I could do the circuit training to help strenthen my back as my doctor suggested and also to try and bring my muscles back to life!! I follow my own healthy plan of eating so I go 3 times a week and starting next week I will be doing Curves Smart and I will have my own program set up and then at the end of my workout I can see how I did plus how many calories I burned during my work-out. So I am excited about that. The women I met are so far are very nice and incidently the ones I met tend to be older women so it just tells you how well you can do when getting older and staying with a healthy lifestyle. Good luck with Curves Complete, I know you will do well. emoticon emoticon June

Hi ladies
Welcome to a new year - 2013 - a year that's going to be your best yet!!
As well as a new year - we are a new (reworked) team - with an international flavour - LJCANNON is American, and I am Australian - so between us we cover both hemispheres. That makes the team very international.
Some of you may already know me from the Chair Exercise Team - and I sort of specialise in exercise for mobility handicapped people - but I have been a member of Curves for 2 1/2 or so years now and find that even though I am handicapped I can handle the workout.
I will be starting Curves Complete this year -(2013) so I can help anyone else interested in that.
With 2013 on oyur doorstep - I hope you are all making great goals - solid goals that help you retain motivation and lead you ever forward. If Goal setting is a maize to you - my blog might help you navigate through that maize.
