A chest press is more properly called a standing or military press

It is called WORK-ing out for a reason.

I said getting fit was simple, I did not say it was easy.

Cardio burns calories, strength work burns fat.

Eat well to lose weight, exercise to get fit

You can not build a six pack using twelve packs

Often when we seek a magic bullet for fitness we end up shooting ourselves in the foot.

No, that's just what took the inch off my thighs... LOL

I do the 3 sets of 8: deadlifts, squats, benchpress, chestpress, pulldown, push-up, and a rowing exercise. Then I do 3 sets of 8 crunches/situps, back extensions, and obliques.

I don't do a whole lot of cardio at all. During the week when I'm doing a lunchtime workout, I walk 5 minutes to the gym and then 5 minutes back... and maybe play a little Tiger Woods golf on the wii.

So all you are doing are squats, dealifts, and pushups?

Well, I started this about 3 months ago, I think... been doing all the right stuff, but had been doing the 'gym thing' on all of the machines, and alternating between the weight machines and elliptical and stationary bike, and was basically spinning my wheels. The scale hadn't budged. Still hasn't!! So then I started doing the Sergeant Major's workouts... the routine that I have so fondly called "The Torture Track"... and all of a sudden I'm experiencing *SORENESS*!! The first time, I could hardly move when I got up the next morning. But I stuck with it, and it was easier to do the second time... and after a week and a half of squats and deadlifts and pushups, etc... I have lost a whole INCH off of my thighs!!

Woo Hoo!!! Thanks, Sarge!!! emoticon
