I know what you mean! What has worked for me is to roll up my pants all the way up where I can hold the ball completely with my bare skin. It usually stays put. I can't do it with my pants down!

Okay...now I have also completed Advanced Express! really enjoyed it! It flew by and the abs were HARD!! However, I do need help with one thing...for the seat section, I could NOT get the ball to stay between my hamstring and the back of my knee. It's not because I wasn't squeezing hard enough either. After a few reps it would start to fall and slip out. Maybe sweat? I was wearing work out capris. Any suggestions for me?

I did it!!! I received volume 2 this weekend and I did the Classic one yesterday (doing Advanced later tonight). I actually have to admit, I prefer volume 1 for the classic. I thought volume was harder (specifically the seat work). But, I still enjoyed vol 2 and the exercises are so different that it is definitely worth rotating both of them! Also, even though I didn't feel the seat work as much during the work out (particularly my hamstrings), I am sore today! So, something worked!!

I use my sofa cushion which is kind of flat and put it right on my lower back. It feels weird at first, but the more you do it you will start to get more comfortable with it. Check your form with a mirror if you can.

I fold up a comforter and put that under my mat. It feels weird to me too, but it's what I have and it works:)

Well, now I have done Express and Abs and Arms!! WOW!!!! I've heard a lot of people say that there is not as much glute work....but I disagree!!
I have one question for the more experiences folks...for the abs, I don't know what to put under my back. They use a think mat, which I don't have, and when I tried a cushion it felt weird. Could I not just hold C-position instead of having something there?

Well, I DID IT!! I received Vol 1 of P57 yesterday and did the Classic DVD as soon as I got home!!! WOW!!! I love it! It really does go by SUPER fast! It doesn't feel like 57 minutes at all!! I had to stop at some points during the thigh segments...that was the hardest part for me. It's weird though....maybe some of you feel this way too....even thought it hurts WHILE I am doing it and I need to take breaks, I recover VERY quickly. I am not left super sore the rest of the day (or the next day). I just feel generally good! I am hoping this is what my body needs (maybe my marathon time will even improve!). So, I think this means I am going to have to cave and get Vol. 2 now!

Oh I think you need to get all of Vol. 2 set. You will love it. The express workouts are pretty different. They have the same format. Very quick arm segment, thighs, seat and abs. But they are different and I like Advanced Express a lot more than Express 1. I have CF Thighs and Glutes, but I don't reach for it thanks to P57. Their version is so much better!

The Vol. 1 express is the only one I dont have so I dont know for that. But as far as the others go, they are pretty different! The vol. 2 express is really fun!

Thanks for all the advice! So, I went ahead and ordered P57 Vol.1 from QVC....since I needed the ball and it was cheaper. I figure, I'll give it a try and if I like it, I'll buy vol.2!
I have now done Core Fusions Pliates Plus, Body Sculpt, Pure Arms and Abs and Yoga....and I love them! So, I think I will like P57.
Here is my next question: Once I have vol. 1, do you think it's worth getting all of the vol.2 set, or just the classical vol.2? How different are the express workouts? ALso, since I have CF's things and glutes, is it worth getting P57s?

The 2nd volume is harder! I did the classic one this afternoon! So much fun!! I agree that if you get one get that one! And if you go to their website right now you can get a "free" 30 day trial. You have to pay shipping which I think was $8 and then if you like it just keep them and they will charge your card the rest! The instructors are so great and the workout is really fun! Just make sure you have leg room! You will need it!

DrearRibbit- How did you like the Core Fusion workouts? I'm wondering because if you did like them but found them slow then P57 is a good choice for you since you do like things to be tough. Although I do think Core Fusion can teach you a lot about form that P57 cannot do. Barre is mostly all about having good form.

I also would suggest just getting the second set since you do workout consistently. Then if you do like them get the first set to have more variety. The second set is harder but you can also make the first set just as hard.

Hello. I am new to Physique 57. I have done things like P90X and Insanity and I am now wanting to move on to less extreme workouts. I've started doing yoga and I do Core Fusion's DVD (Body Sculpt and Pilates Plus). However, what I really want to try is P57! I am student and short on cash all the time, so I wanted to ask, should I buy both volumes 1 and 2? Or just get one of them? Is volume 2 much harder than volume 1, or just different? By the way....I like things to be difficult when I work out!

Awesome!!! Aren't the workouts even better than the first set! I love them. I haven't been able to stop doing them since I got them. I also love Tanya. Both instructors are great and so motivating. Let us know what you think of the others!

It's nice to know you have support. You really need it since some workouts are so tempting. Good luck!!!
Although I also think you should make the exception of P57 for your b-day!

LOL, only because I realize I really have to reign my 'addiction' in! I've got so many barre workouts that I don't even use regularly.. (Xtend is on my wishlist too though! LOL) besides the fact that I've bought waaaayyy too many in a short amount of time!..

Over on forum.videofitness.com there's a thread where we all support each other to stay on the wagon for a while! ;-) But beware, if you're not familiar with that board, it's also *very* enabling to wanting more DVDs! LOL

I wish I had your will power! It seems like every month there's a new barre workout that is a must have. P57 will do for now until the Xtend workout comes out in a couple of weeks!

It sounds awesome! I'll def. keep my eyes on it and maybe get it for my birthday in February! =) (I'm on a no-buy/limited-buy challenge for 2011. I've got too many workouts that I'm not even using right now or never have yet! *eek*)

Thanks for sharing your review!

Let me just start off by saying that I love this workout! I highly recommend it to anyone that wants more P57! Tanya is great in this workout. A little less rapping on this one, but there are still so many motivating thing she says right when you need it. I absolutely love her as an instructor!

The workout starts with the usual warm up that was used in the first set and quickly goes to arm section. Very similar from the Arm and Ab Booster section, but Tanya pushes you to use 8 pound weights. So you are doing biceps at the same time you are doing plies. Pushups are challenging since she makes you do the one legged pushups! She does the plank and tricep dips. Of course after all this she says you are done with the warm-up! Always makes me think you gotta be kidding!

Then it's off to the thighs at the barre! You start of in 1st position with the ball between your thighs. Then you put one foot in front and do lots of up and downs and squeeze the ball. This had my legs quivering. Oh she does the "lazo" in this section too. 2nd thigh section will get your heart rate up! Lots of curtsy lunges and having to bring your leg up. Then it's off to the dreaded thigh dancing! It's just as tough but with great music.

3rd section is the seat section. It's start off pretty easy at the barre, but then she makes you do a move that is like the pretzel only you are doing it with your leg in air. Then it's off to floor to do some L-work. You are on the floor in the shape of an "L" Very hard! I knew it was going to make my butt sore! You lift up your top leg and do different variations. Glad it was over!
Next are abs and it's harder than Vol.1. I think they focus more on the obliques. All three sections are very hard for me! I think that the last section with the ball between your legs and the cushion on your back is the toughest.
Next is some floorwork for the lower body. It's actually VERY short. Maybe a minute and very similar to the first volume, but this time you have your legs together. She makes you brink one leg straight up and that's hard. Next is lower back swimming. Also very short, we use the ball so that makes it different from the first volume. Then it's off to stretching!

I would really recommend this workout who wants more P57! I really love this workout and really look forward to doing it!
