I know this is late, but it seems like you are doing too much way to soon? You said you are doing a 5K every other day? Most running programs have you build up to a 5K in 9 weeks time.
I would think do less mileage.
When I was training for a 1/2 using the Jeff Galloway program, I was not running as slow as I was supposed to, so the mileage increase over 8 miles gave me compression issues in my knees. So when I go to try again, when it gets close to 6 miles, I'll increase a little every week instead of every other week increasing a lot.
