Thanks and now I have a question. How long do you take for rest after a race? I am thinking of just doing a light jog tomorrow, but I worry that it is too soon.

Thanks PPLUKAS!! Being so new to running, I never know if I am doing the right thing. What I do know is that I feel great and I love the way I feel when I have completed a run!!

This is my first time posting here. My name is Donna and I have only been a runner since January. I did the C25K program and ran my first official 5K on March 13th in 37:12. I am slow and steady, but I am working on increasing my distance as well as my speed. I did 4 miles this morning slow and steady. It took me an hour, but I did the distance. I am doing interval training on the treadmill a couple times a week to try and increase my speed. I hope I am on the right track, so far I am injury free and I feel great!! My new goal is to run a 10K.

To achieve all that is possible, we must attempt the impossible. To be all that we can be, we must dream of being more.

Congratulations!

I hit a milestone this week too (although a much smaller one! hehe!)! I ran 3 miles on Monday! Prior to that my longest run had been 1.75. DH thought I could do it though so out we went and 43 minutes later... done! I walked less than 20 steps! :)

I'm so proud! I rested yesterday and today we're going to do one mile. The goal is to go faster. If I can do 3 miles in 43 minutes then I should be able to do 1 mile in less than 15 minutes! *lol* So I'm hoping for the best! I don't want to go a long distance though because my knees are still being iffy. Then tomorrow I rest and Friday is another 3 miles! I'm so motivated by my little accomplishment I just have to tell everyone!!! *lol*

Ready to lose the weight!!

I ran my first half marathon on Sunday! It was so exciting. I was planing to run it in 2:30 and I finished at 2:32 so I was happy with that. The race had 900 feet of elevation change which I am not used to running, so I am definitely sore and recovering this week.

I started on this team about a year ago and now I am running half marathons. You can do it!

I ran the same 5k last weekend that I ran last March, and lowered my time a tiny bit! Last year my time was 26:23, this year a 26:12. I have another 5k in 3 weeks, and I'm hoping to lower my time. I also have a 10 mile run in May, and hopefully I will be ready for a half marathon that is in September!

I've got two races this month. One on Sunday (3/14)- a Shamrock 5k, and my first 8k on March 20th. I'm nervous and excited about the 8k- it'll be the longest race I've done. But I have longer ones I'm signed up for later this season.

If you haven't seen the article on the Daily Spark blog about running a half marathon be sure to check it out! It was motivating!

And an update. The May half I was training for filled up before I could register. So I registered for an April race moving my half marathon up 4 weeks! Yikes! But it has definitely motivated me and I know I can do it!

Well, after a disappointing February finale, I started off March with a bang: an 8.85 mile run, my longest yet.

Rested yesterday and might do a light 5k today.

Continuing with half training in March. Need to get in an 8 miler and maybe a 10 this month. It's going to to be nice having more light in the morning until daylight savings.

Good luck on your first 5K! That first one is always nerve racking but so worth it. Just focus on finishing.

Weather is too crappy here to run outside yet. My March goal is to run 3.1 miles in 28 minutes. So far I'm at 29:17. Can't wait until its warm enough to run outside instead of the treadmill.

Happy march! My post here, that I signed up for my FIRST 5k and it's at the end of March. I'm pretty excited. I'm planning on running a half in Oct., so this is my first stepping stone!

I don't win races, but I always cross the finish line. I'm not fast, but I try my best to become faster. I don't have sports endorsements or earn a paycheck, but that doesn't stop me from running. My pace does not define me. Just because "professional" does not precede "athlete" in describing me doesn't make my running any less valuable. I am an everyday athlete; leading a normal life, but with big goals and dreams.
I am an athlete. I am a runner. (runzoerun.com)
