LOL!! PJ, you are not crazy!!! And I'm sure that you are running on empty. I know how that feels. It has only been since the end of March that I have felt like myself again after all the deaths in our family. So please be gentle with yourself and glad that you sent Frank to his mom's by himself so that you can have a little "ME" time.

SS, when you are headed back to MI, I know that Shipshe can't be far off!! I think I'm looking forward to that as much as I am going to Disney with the kids!!! Anxious to see all of you again.

Weezie, take it easy on the leg. But I do know that if you don't move it gets worse. So be careful but move!!

Jo, sorry about your issues with SP. About a week ago I wasn't getting any emails, notices or anything from SP. Had to go in and "edit" everything again. A big PAIN!

WG, now I understand your post about the kitty litter!! LOL!!! What an awful mess. When I went on our quilt retreat, the inn that we stayed at had a water main break and they had to turn off the water from 10a.m. until about 3 p.m. If you had to go, they took you to Port-A-Lets! Several friends and I went before they turned it off and then left for lunch and went then. Awful mess. But at least we had showers! Sorry you had to deal with that.

Got home from the museum a little while ago and now I'm doing laundry. We have 500 pie shells done and in the freezer!!! WOO HOO!! I will be gone this week and while I'm gone they will be working on other things to get ready for the festival. I need to go thru my clothes to get ready for this trip to my sisters. It is supposed to be in the 80's there thru the weekend so I need to get out shorts! I hate long pants!! Thomas just got home from Brooke's games. They won the 1st one but lost the 2nd game. Brooke scored some points in the 1st game. She is also playing again next weekend and I will be in South Carolina :(. But I haven't missed very many of them. Now I need to scoot and get some steps and laundry done!

Good afternoon. Got an unexpected day off work today. It was good as yesterday was miserable. There was some remodeling being done so the water was off from 8 pm Friday evening until 2:30 yesterday. It was about 18 hours of no water which is pretty bad. We had bottled water (a nasty tasting brand) and garbage bags and kitty litter for the potty needs. It was pretty miserable. Camping through the night wasn't too bad, but as it extended into the day and no one could shower or wash up except with wet wipes, it was getting a little ripe.

When the water turned on, I had only a couple of hours to get people cleaned up with water and take care of things. It was not very fun.

I did learn that kitty litter does get rid of a lot of the smells that living a "primitive lifestyle" may bring.

They are having an "earthquake drill" here on Tuesday. There will be a mock earthquake and the school children will have to sit under their tables and some will evacuate the schools. Spent a lot of the last couple of days trying to make sure parents talk to their kids and help them be empowered so they are not frightened.

PJ, hope you get your rest. Dave seems to be on target from what you said in the beginning. It has to be so hard for him to feel terrible and not be able to eat or have energy. How long are the treatments going to last?

Weezie, glad you got some time with Kellan. Enjoy your afternoon. Hope the leg feels better soon. I'm sure you are doing all the things that help.

SS, enjoy your visit, Janet have a good day, Jo, hope the computer works better. Lily, hope your day went well, Tammy, you are looking hot.

Have a nice day everyone.

Laundry done, house cleaned, potato soup made for Dave, sent DH to visit his mother without me this time. I thought I was going to have to go to Dave's as he needed me to call the doctor to see about an Rx for his throat, but his friend was able to take him to get it. I am so thankful as today I am running on empty emotionally. Well I think the sofa is calling my name even if I don't sleep I will rest.

SS I hope the weather is better by the time you head home. Enjoy your afternoon.

P.S. I have developed some floaters in my right eye, but luckily I already have an appt with the eye surgeon Thurs morning as a follow up from cataract surgery. These floaters are driving my crazy oh wait I think I already am crazy.

Good Morning!

We are on our way to visit my girlfriend who lives by Tucson. My girlfriend that lives in The Villages in FL is here. The two girls with their DH went to visit The Grand Canyon and the Sedona area. So today is our day to enjoy their company before they fly back to FL. Tucson is about a two hour drive for us. We were just brought to a standstill on the highway due to an accident so it may take a little longer! Our other girlfriend (this is the same group that met last Oct) is unable to attend today as she is back in MI having treatments for her breast cancer so we'll be missing her.

PJ - I remember how tired and weak the radiation treatments made my Dad so I'm praying for Dave as he has the added problem of swallowing. Please continue to keep us updated.

Weezie - I'm getting anxious to head for home until I hear about the cold and rain. It is beautiful and sunny here. We will be headed home in a little over two weeks so MI better get nice! With all the severe weather in the Midwest and tornados, I'm glad we're not traveling home now!

Good morning ladies,
A rainy start here today and glad I got groceries after Kellan's visit yesterday. He is a sweet little boy and my DH got him on a video. It is pretty cute so I thought I'd share. Hopefully the link will work.

KellanLOVESmusic!

So I'm still struggling with what I do think is a pulled muscle in the back of my leg. I'm minding not to sit too long and am doing light stretches on a very regular basis. So we'll see. Now I need to get moving and get a few steps.

Hoping to get to the sewing machine today as I have laundry to do as well so I can do both while down in the basement. Makes it much more bearable. LOL

PJ, so sorry to hear about Dave. I remember my sister's bout with the chemo/radiation and how hard it kicked her butt. Will continue to pray for him.

Jo, sorry about the computer. I think we ALL experience some weird stuff with SP from time to time. Don't give up!!

Janet, good to see you here.

Tammy, sounds like a great brunch.

Pat, sorry about Brooke's game and your inability to attend today but sounds like you got it covered. I know she understands g'ma.

To all of you, have a lovely day and will check back later. Got a get a move on!!

Good morning, Spark Sisters-
Just a quick fly-by this a.m.

PJ, I'm still praying for Dave - and for you as you balance all this.

Weez - sorry about your workplace. Don't you wish you could wave a magic wand and make the bully person just go "poof"? But you're right - we only have control over ourselves and our own lives... Keep repeating that mantra!

Tammy, love your new profile picture. You look amazing.

Everyone else- sorry not to comment personally, but I'm reading all the posts. Gotta run!

read all the poss. sorry about those having troubles of all kinds - prayers always for all of you.

i think you gals are right - i have trouble with SP mostly - the strangest things pop up. no troubl with other sites. do you think they are trying to change something? hope they don' eliminate anything.

my foot is really giving me problems. walked lots in walMart today looking for something. finally ended up asking a worker. i go to 3 or more WalMarts and unfortunately they change layout in all 3 - wish they set all stores the stores - would help but of course these stores are in different areas.

haven't see the weather as i am not a TV person - an avid reader at least sitting in my recliner i can do leg exercises but sitting at PC even getting up for tea etc. my leg and foot starts to ache. will give it a little massage.

take care everyone -

JO

Hi, friends!

I wrote a blog today about my fitness mentor. The bridal shower brunch that I attended this morning was for her son and his fiance. It was in a beautiful home, and the food was wonderful and plentiful, but I was moderate, so was proud of that. It was wonderful that so many of her friends from work and church came to help her son and his fiance at this new stage of his life.

After the brunch, I met my best female friend for a burger; I don't eat them very often, but I want them to taste wonderful when I do, and this one did! We laughed a lot and that was so nice after March and all of its solemnity.

After this, I did manage to get a walk in, and my walking time for the week is more like what I need to do to maintain, so I am happy with that.

DH and I are keeping an eye on the Midwest weather....everyone stay safe.

My name is Tammy and I live in SW Missouri.

Hello, gals! Just got home from Brooke's games. They lost the first game but won the 2nd game! Now they play again tomorrow and I can't go. emoticon . I have another commitment and I told Brooke to have her mom text me the score at different times during the game. Thomas Jay will go. I took a cushion so no square butt for me. I had a pleasant surprise this morning....decided to get on the scales. When we did our last WI for the BLC I was up 2 lbs. This morning I'm down 2.8 lbs!!! So I'm back to my ticker weight!! Now to hold onto that until we begin again.

PJ, my heart goes out to you with what you are dealing with. I pray for you daily, girlfriend.

Weezie, hope your breakfast and shopping were both good. And the work drama is awful. So glad that I don't have to deal with that any more. Sorry that you have too.

Pat44, I am the same way about the water on some days. UGH!!

Tammy, how was the shower brunch? That is such a great idea.

Janet, hope you don't get too tired in Indy.

Well, ladies, I've got to do something about some supper around here. Catch up with you all in the morning.

Back from Dave's the radiation has really kicked in hard and he is not feeling well at all and can barely swallow. I went to the store and bought ice cream, single serving jello cups and baby food. I will go back Monday to take him to lab work, dr. visit, radiation and to take paperwork to the hospital. He will be worn out and feeling bad after we get all that done.

Also went by dads and checken on him and took his BP.

I'm home now and even though I don't want to do much I have laundry and cooking to get done.

Good Morning Ladies!!!

Well a rainy dreary day on tap here today but warmer temps. We'll be going out for breakfast and to do a few errands. Nothing much on the agenda other than time in the sewing room. A little stress relief is in order today.

PJ, glad the 'positive' vibes are happening for you at work. We have more drama happening in mine which may lead to more hours for me. I'm afraid the new gal is gonna quit (like go in today, clean out her desk, and be gone!). We still have a young gal in the office whose a brat and allowed to be. She has made it a hostile work environment and is harrassing this gal and of course our managers poo poo things and just day you need to get along. This could prove detrimental for them as this gal has management experience and knows the law and they could see a lawsuit if not handled. So I am dreading things and hoping that it won't happen and she'll manage. AT the end of June, both this gal's boss and her only ally in the office retire. Then what? Another co-worker and I predict she too will leave on her own accord. We're hoping but who knows. This is the oddest office environment I've ever worked in. We all report to different folks and all have a different set of rules/guidelines. Very off to me. So yesterday I was pulled back to my old job for part of the day to get some 'musts' tended to since this gal refused to work under the current conditions. I feel like, since I went to CO nearly two years ago, that all I've done is 'bounce' between jobs. It gets old but I refuse to let it/them get me down. I have eaten worse but overall, I think I'm doing okay and not letting it make me be ugly/mean/stupid to others. I keep telling myself the only thing I have control over is ME! So I'm trying.

Tammy, sounds like a great day with DD and the shopping. Ice cream always makes things better. LOL I recently found cake batter ice cream - yummy!

WG, sorry about the computer and thanks for the suggestions on the leg. I am taking some OTC for it and am pushing to keep moving and not letting it tighten up by too much sitting. Also very light stretching and my steps are much slower. I'm resting it in the evening and it will pass. I must, I have on time for this nonsense.

Well, I need to scoot. Sorry I didn't address each individually but did read up and know how you are all doing. Will try to check back later. Hoping the window treatment shopping is a success today!!

Enjoy ladies.

Good morning,
PJ, so glad you're having positive vibes at work!

Sharon, good luck on cleaning out the food in the MH. At least, anything left over will keep cool while you travel home. When is that, by the way?

Tammy, glad you had a nice time with your DD - thrift shops are always fun, and flea markets, too. There's a weekly flea market in a nearby town once the weather gets warmer, and your note reminded me that I want to check that out this year. I've never been to it...

I've got a couple of "have-to-do" tasks today, and we're watching the weather because of this storm system that is coming to many of us in the midwest.... Other than that, just trying to keep on track with my SP regimen. I've been really good about my water the last months, but yesterday (even though I drank it all), I got really weary of it! Just drink it - don't think about it!!

Have a good day, all!

Good morning, ladies.

I had a leisurely morning, got an hour walking in, had lunch at home with DH, then went to DD's apartment. We went to some thrift shops in the little town she lives in - she got a couple of summer shirts - and then we drove about 10 miles further and went to some flea markets. She was looking at salt/pepper shakers to add to her collection, and she was trying to decide if she wanted to begin collecting cookie jars. We got a one-scoop waffle cone at a new ice cream shop, and that was fun. We both decided it was a good time.

I had cooked some red beans, so we had red beans and rice for dinner, with enough left over for another meal. Now DH is relaxing watching a movie on encore, and you can see what I am doing.

I am attending a bridal shower brunch tomorrow morning, and then meeting my best female friend for lunch. We haven't met since February, so that will be very nice. I still have a set of exams to grade.

Have a good evening!

My name is Tammy and I live in SW Missouri.

I too have read all the posts but don't have time to comment. Went to the museum this morning at 7:30. We defrosted the freezer that had been left open. What a mess! Also a refrig that was a mess. How did we not see that? emoticon Luckily there was nothing in it but some ice. Got home before lunch and did laundry and then sewed! I got another block on my BOM almost done. Will have it finished as soon as I get off of here!

Someone asked about the museum (sorry I can't remember who!). It is our local Historical Society Museum. We have gotten a new person to rebuild our website but it isn't up and running as of yet. We have also upgraded our internet service and now I can use my laptop there. Before we didn't have wireless internet.

Been trying to get my spring/summer clothes out and see what fits and what doesn't. A lot doesn't fit. WOO HOO!!! But that means I've got to go buy more. I know that the scales isn't moving so I guess I'm losing inches.

Hope that you are all doing well tonight and have a wonderful weekend. We are going to Brooke's ballgames again tomorrow so I'll have a square butt by tomorrow night!!!

I'm here not going to respond to all of you but I have read what you have been doing. Busy in fun ways and some in not so fun ways. Some spending money some not and some getting ready for trips and events. Boy oh boy are we all busy.

I took dad to the doctor this morning, it is a wax buildup in his ears (they think) so he is using wax softner in them and we go back in 2 weeks for doctor to flush them out and recheck. Dave is starting to really feel the effects of radiation now and feeling very tired. I will go see him tomorrow and help him with some paperwork that needs to be done. Monday I take him to get lab work, drop off paperwork and get his daily radiation treatment.

I have had a really good day today. I went shopping in 2 stores and found clothes in both. emoticon That I just had to buy and terrific sale prices too. Used my gift card from the kids and got an 1 1/2 hour massage. Talk about nice but now I'm not worth a darn and don't want to do anything. emoticon I did stop and buy groceries and think I will do some cooking this weekend to take a couple of meals to Dave on Monday.

And my job is giving me a 50 cent an hour raise. I also reminded them that if family health issues permit we want to take off for 3 weeks to visit family on the west coast. No problem with that either. I'm not sure where all these positive vibes are coming from that seem to be over me right now but I'll take them.

Storms are gone for now and we have sunshine before the next round of storms come in later tonight. I hope you all are having a wonderful afternoon.

Quick stop by. Having problems with my computer as well. May be the RAM is overloaded or something else entirely as I have problems with other devices.

Weezie, hope the knee is feeling better. Swelling and pain int he soft spot at the back of the knee can be a number of things most related to swelling in the knee joint. NSAIDS (Ibuprofen or something) usually help the most and a little lighter load on the knee which really kills training for a few days.

SS, enjoyed your stories about your movie career. Such is the life of a star. Enjoy your time in AZ.

Dara, I'm getting the hail and cold rain here now, so it is great fun.

Tammy, your book love is such a treasure. I enjoy hearing about the books you enjoy.

Bonny, hoping you are home soon and able to enjoy a rest.

Pat, glad your mother is able to find help for her problem. It is amazing as we age what can cause a problem somewhere else. Have fun on your trip.

TB, have fun with your daughter.

Lily, you make me tired. I've got bananas waiting to be made into bread and they may wait until it is too late.

Watching granddaughters while GS goes on a date with his mother.

Will pop in this weekend.

Good Morning!

Well, the car is repaired and we are indeed $1300 poorer but we took our car and went with another couple to the casino for dinner and slots and it seemed nice not to have to worry about it breaking down. The casino trip wasn't profitable either!

Weezie - I hope your leg is doing better today. I have no idea what the best way to treat it would be but I'm sure WG could tell you if you checked with her.

Tammy - I hope you enjoy your day with DD and go ahead and enjoy the ice cream as you have earned the treat. It sounds like your brother realizes that he can enjoy life just with new restrictions. I'm sure he will be very careful, especially at first. Once he gets a little more comfortable and the fear goes away - that's when he may slack off. At least that's what I discovered in our house. After Norm's heart attack, we were both so good and followed the healthy heart diet to a T. Now three years later, it's easy to go back to normal eating.

Jo - sorry about your computer troubles but it might not be your computer. All of us have experienced problems with the SP website. Often our posts are lost and some days we can't get in to the website. So try to do other things before blaming it on your computer.

TB - indeed, you have been a busy lady! Thanks for popping in and continue to have fun with your DD. We'll still be here when you have more time.

Pat44 - now the kidney stent makes sense to me. Another modern medical miracle. I hope your mom is feeling better. And I sure can relate to emptying the frig in preparation for your trip. That is the one chore I dislike when we leave home. We shut our house down completely so the frig must be empty! It's a chore for sure not to waste a lot. Right now I am slowly emptying out our MH frig for our trip home. It's not as important that it's empty but I still like to travel with less food to go bad.

I better go as today I am doing our laundry so it's time to go!

Good morning!
Sharon, sorry about the video, but I'm sure you looked great waiting your turn! emoticon You asked about the kidney stent and how they go in. It's actually non-invasive, and they went up an artery from the groin (ouch). My mom is home now and I thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.

We are leaving for our Baltimore trip next Tuesday, and tick-tock, all of a sudden I'm feeling the crunch. Things like using up food in the fridge so we don't leave things for a week ... and how do I make meals out of a motley bunch of stuff without starting anything new?? Not a biggie, but it's just "one of those things"!

Well, think I'm going to start my day and bid farewell to my teammates for the day! Have a good one...

Good morning everyone:

Sorry I've been MIA for the last week or so but life has been hectic. Last Wednesday we went into the city and stayed overnight to meet DD's plane early Thursday morning; Friday we picked up Lil G; Saturday we did kid stuff; Sunday we had DS and DIL join us for Easter dinner. That was special because it was the first time we've all been together in well over a year. Monday I scrambled to get some errands done and the house back in order (kind of); Tuesday I drove to pick DD up at my ex's (where she was visiting for a couple days) and then I rode; Wednesday I had a blinding migraine and yesterday I spent 14 hours crawling around the floor helping DD baste and stretch a queen-sized quilt.

And it's not over yet ... today I ride and then tomorrow we get up in the wee hours to drive DD back to the airport to catch her plane home. After that I think things should return to normal.

I don't have time to respond to everybody but please know that I've been reading and thinking of you all; I just haven't had a chance to respond.

Take care, and I'll try to pop by later ... but until at least Sunday I'll probably be pretty absent. I just wanted to check in, say hello, and let everybody know that I'm still alive.

Stents - I heard someone talking the other day about one being placed in a leg vein. I had never heard of that, nor a kidney stent.

Amish - I had my kitchen decorated in Amish figures, scenes, etc for several years. I read many of Beverly Lewis' books until the past few years. I just haven't - don't know why, because I enjoyed them. One year for Christmas, DH gave me books about the Amish, their lifestyles and their quilts. As for the book I am currently reading, I am a little hesitant to recommend it - the last book that I recommended too early, if I had read one more evening prior to recommending it, I probably would never have mentioned it. As for the one that I am reading right now, it appealed to me because as I read about it on the back cover, it reminded me of the books [I think by Debbie Macomber] that are set in a yarn shop and develops the lives of the characters in different books in the series. I have enjoyed it for that reason, though.

I worked today, and I am still feeling more like myself.

I called my brother today, and he sounded better than the last time I talked to him. He is beginning to realize that many people have to adjust their eating habits to accomodate chronic illnesses. I shared a very low sodium recipe with him that I felt would be easy for him - he is divorced - and my sister had already shared something similar. I was just glad that he had cooked the similar one already!

I have my four day weekend - and yes, I do feel like a short-timer! - and I am spending some girl time with my daughter tomorrow afternoon, scoping out some local thrift stores and maybe getting ice cream or yogurt, and going to the bridal shower brunch of a good friend's son on Saturday morning. That takes care of Friday and Saturday!

Have a good evening.

Evening ladies,

Well, almost the weekend and I'm ready. I forgot to post some birthdays this morning so will be doing that next. Sorry it is so late coming all.

I hurt my leg. I noticed it this morning and have been trying to ignore it but it has been getting more noticeable all day especially sitting for long periods and then trying to move. I feel like (the best way to describe) is that maybe I hyper extended the muscle on the back side of my left knee. So letting my leg straighten and pushing your knee back is hurts. Not sure if I over did on the treadmill doing some speed walking or what but keeping the legs straight is one of the technique items so I think that is what I did. Not sure what is the best way to stretch it or if I should let it be and baby it a bit. Ugh. I have no time for this.

SS, sorry about the video being a bust and the vehicle. It seems to be the norm about now as I, and many I know, are having vehicle issues. I so would like to buy something newer but waiting to see what happens at work with the changes in our insurance and what portion we have to pay, etc. Vehicles are a pain!!!

Tammy, glad you're enjoying the books on the Amish. It is pretty interesting and I find myself curious a lot when in the Shipse area. Amish and Mennonites are very similar it seems and I have a friend that was raised Mennonite. Hope classes are going well and you're DD is doing well.

Dara, congrats on the new furniture finally coming. Enjoyed the vacation photos as it looks like lovely country.

Pat44, can't wait to see the quilt top you're working on. You clearly are a busy lady but busy in a FUN way for sure. Well, in my book.

LILYGAL, you are an amazing lady with all you do and still keep me on my toes. I don't think I'll make my goal today but hoping to feel better in the a.m. and will start again. That's all I can do and if the weather holds, a lunch walk is on tap!

TB, SEK, Janet, Jo, Bonny, and to all others I may have forgotten, hope you're doing well and hope you have a great evening!

Good Morning!

Our promo video was kind of a bust yesterday. My BIG part was sitting on the bench of the Bocce Ball court waiting for my turn to play. They were right - No speaking parts, lol.

Tammy - I read a lot of books about the Amish. Even as a child, the Amish have fascinated me. Let us know how you enjoy the book and if it's worth our time to read. I enjoy any time we go to Shipshewana but our Bailey dog never likes it. She hates horses and they are in abundance down there. The dog is too stupid to realize how big the horse is and we have to watch her around them or she'll attack. The horse could just stand on her with one foot and it would be over.

Pat44 - I hope they get your mom stabilized and back to enjoying every day pleasures. I am curious about the kidney stent as I haven't heard of it before. Do they make an incision and if so, is it in the back or front.

LG - Unfortunately, to me there is no such thing as too sweet so obviously I think the apple bread sounds good. You sure do bake in large quanities, reminds me of my days working at the high school food service kitchens. The only part I hated was lifting a case of canned foods. When you lift a case of 5lb cans, it's really heavy!

Dara - I'm excited that your new furniture is finally going to be delivered. You could post pics so we can see what your picked.

This morning Norm took our car to the repair shop. By the end of the day we will be $1300 broker but our car should be fixed.

Good morning,
Nice to catch up this morning and read how everyone is doing.

Sharon, hope the filming is fun! Now you and SEK are going to be our stars. If that promotional video is put online on Youtube or the resort's website or something, send us a link so we can watch for you and Norm!!

Lily, I keep reading about your volunteer involvement at the museum...but what kind of museum is it? Just curious!

Tammy, I bet you look fabulous with your hair trimmed and highlighted. It's a great feeling, isn't it?

I started actually assembling my big quilt yesterday. I've been working on the sashing and got all the blocks sashed on one side, then went back to row #1 and sashed the tops of each of those blocks, then sewed that row together. It actually feels like I'm "getting there" on assembling the whole top. It would be great to have it together before the weekend...I still will have the two borders to do, and maybe I can put the sandwich together after we get back from Baltimore. Pictures will follow soon - when I get the top assembled and before the sandwich. That will motivate me to keep at it.

DH is going to golf with a couple of his friends today so I should have a little time to myself for this...

Have a great day, everyone!

Good morning, Sistahs!! emoticon

Tammy, I love the Shipshewana area! It is beautiful country and town is so clean and nice even with all the horses around. There are several B&B's in the area. In fact, CountryJane stayed in one the first year we all met up there. I am looking forward to seeing all the gals again and getting to Lolly's!! The flea market is nice too but Lolly's is the main attraction!

Well, here we are at Thursday....on the downhill slide to the weekend. DGD has basketball games again this weekend. So I guess I'll have a square backside again this weekend. If there is enough time between games, we will go on down to Jeffersonville, IN and go to the mall there just for some leg stretching! The games are scheduled to be held in Scottsburg. Haven't heard yet when the games will be played.

I got all my bread baked yesterday. I did 45 mini loaves of apple bread. It is very good but I don't eat it. Too sweet for me but we have people who love it. Today we have meetings at the museum and then tomorrow we are rolling pie dough again.

Hope that everyone is doing OK and I'll try to check back in later today.

Good evening, friends. Your posts are all so interesting to me.

I am reading a new book, by Wanda E. Brunstetter. She writes about the Amish. The reason that I mention this is that the book I picked up mentions Shipshewanna [???], and there is a card in there which one can send in to enter a drawing for a stay at a B&B, a meal with Mrs. Burnstetter, etc. I just thought that was interesting. I haven't read any of her books in a very long time, so they may all be set in that area of the country and just didn't remember.

I enjoyed the piano lesson and my hair looks so very much better after new highlights and a much needed trim. I feel like a new woman, for sure!

DD has Friday off, and I have plans to spend some time with her thrift-shop hopping in the town where she is in the afternoon. She sounds excited about it. She is doing fairly well most of the time; there are still moments, of course, but either she is growing up, or her meds are working very well, or something else. She hopes to be in an RN program in January 2013, so I know that her "free" time will be at a minimum for awhile then, so I want to make the best of this time.

Have a good evening.

SS, I do love Cheesecake Factory. They are pricey so we only go about once a year. But what a treat. It is next door to one of our larger malls so it is a whole day adventure. Sorry to hear they are raising prices. I think we are doomed to higher gas, etc. I may be retiring to a bicycle! :)

LG, maybe it wasn't on purpose. My fridge gets stuck once in a while but I always have the alarm on to let me know. I have lost too much before. And apple bread sounds awesome.

Pat, congrats on the weight loss. I hate plateaus and always glad to see them gone.

Weezie, we had spring weather here and then it hailed today. Our weather certainly is confusing. I think the whole world has turned upside down. It even snowed on my vacation!

Tammy, lucky you! I wish I had become a teacher just for the extended time off. Although, the kids in my class wouldn't. I am truly not born to be a teacher. Hats off to you.

Jo, hope things are going well.

Hi Bonny!
PJ, that is wonderful to be so appreciated. Makes it all worth while. Well, maybe most of it. Winning the lottery would be better!

The new furniture comes tomorrow. I am not ready. All the old stuff is still here. The rain put a hitch in our plans to take it to Goodwill. But the carpets are clean and am boxing up all the Extra stuff. A big trip is coming to the local Hospice as well. Spring cleaning time is here. And I may have convinced my DH to sell our house. I truly believe moving to a smaller place is in our future.

Hope everyone has a good day and keeps warm and dry if your area is like mine.

Good Morning

We just got back from our weekly meeting here at the resort and it wasn't pretty. Cal-Am is the corporation that owns our park and unfortunately have instigated some new fees. In today's economy, no one wants price increases and many in the resort are seniors on a fixed income which will ultimately drive some to look for a cheaper place to live. All the discussion is for naught as a corporation out on CA is making their decisions based on a financial gain.

I really enjoyed my luncheon yesterday. The food was wonderful and the portions were large but I thought it rather pricy. My lunch tab was $25. I guess it's not horrific but considering Norm and I pay just $15 for the two of us at most places so it seems high to me. CiCi's is only $2.99 ea for their pizza buffet so it's less than $7 to eat there.

This morning Norm and I are going up to the Pickleball and Bocce ball courts. Towerpoint is making a promotion video and we have been asked to be in the video. So I'll get a little feel of what Sek has enjoyed although it won't be a speaking part, lol

I'm still on my phone so won't comment on all the posts but I am happy for PJ's new work office and furniture. It sounds like PJ is really appreciated

Good morning, ladies!!

I think that the strawberries will be OK as they weren't completely thawed and the pie shells should be OK but we are going to bake a pie tomorrow with the crusts and see where we are with them. I went down yesterday and checked all the freezers and again this morning. Don't think that Hector would do that to us!!! I got all the supplies that I need to bake Apple bread here at home. So I need to get busy with that job this morning.

PJ, what a great surprise for you! And I'm sure that Mrs. Boss is just so happy to have you back.

Pat44, you are making me green with envy about the sewing machine! I did make it to my sewing room yesterday and cut out a couple of block for my BOM. Didn't sew on any of it was just too tired and Jack the ripper and I aren't on speaking terms!

SS, how did the luncheon go? When will you start for home? Maybe if you get started the weather around here will improve!

Weezie, snow yesterday is awful! I will say that it is cold here this morning but expected to warm up into the high 50's. Get those steps, girlfriend!!

Tammy, do you have what we used to call a "short-timers calendar"? Starting in May, we'd mark off the days til school was out! Couldn't wait for it to be over.

Bonny, we do miss you and your stories about Miss Daisy! And I'm sure that you'd really like to be at your own place.

For those I've missed....hope you are doing well and staying afloat!! Will check back later!

Good morning,
Glad to read that everyone is doing pretty well!

Tammy, you sound as if your spirits are up again, and that the walking break at work was good.

PJ- hooray for your new desk, office space, etc. Sounds like they really value you and that the new arrangement is a welcome one for you, too!

Sharon, let us know about your visit to the Cheesecake Factory. (On second thought, maybe we shouldn't know!!! emoticon )

WG, hope the eye appointment goes fine and that they don't stretch out the appointments again too much...

My mom had a stent put in a kidney artery yesterday and we hope she can go home today and that this relieves her pain. Turns out she'll need one in the other kidney, too, but they don't do these at the same time so she has to go back in 2-3 weeks for the other one. But I'm relieved and hope this has solved the issue.

The sewing class yesterday was fun - learned some tips and tricks and just general info about different aspects of the machine, etc. Brought along a notebook to write down a few things so I'd remember! One of the gals at the store had told me that I didn't have to bring my machine because it was heavy, but in fact, I was supposed to bring it along to use. Luckily, the owner had one I could use there that she'd just gotten in as a trade-in. Next month, I will definitely bring mine with me!

Today was WI for the BLC19 preparation weeks (first "official" WI is two weeks from now when BLC19 kicks off) ...and I was very happy to put in my number. For over two weeks, I was at a plateau which broke this past week so it looks like I lost 3.5 in one week. (Well, technically I did, I guess... but it doesn't feel like a quick loss or anything...that was more like over nearly 3 weeks....) Anyway, I'm happy...

Have a good week, everyone. Off to spinning in a bit.

Good morning all!

PJ, that is great news about returning to the surprise at work. Will make it much nicer for you with all you have on your plate currently. Hard to believe the season is behind you and you're back to work. Gheesh!

SS, glad you are doing well and enjoying the final days in AZ. Hopefully you'll bring warmer temps back to MI. Still cold this a.m. but predicting nicer for the weekend. I'm so ready. Really has effected my mood and drive to do anything.

WG, glad you popped in and clearly things are moving along.

Pat44, oh such fun with the new sewing machine I'm sure. I love the classes especially one-on-one. I need to share the link to my 'final' quilt photos. It has left the house and will be delivered to the great niece this weekend. Sad to see it go but now I am able to move on to a new project or return to those UFO's waiting on me.

Dara, hope you are well and recovering from the post-vacation time. Always tough getting back into the 'routine' of life.

Tammy, clearly you're counting days till break. Can't blame you and hope you enjoy the piano lesson.

Janet, hope you're well out there and look forward to seeing you drop by.

Bonny, well girl, good to see you too and clearly busy-busy. Home only 3 weeks so far this year? I can understand your desire to get back home but how nice you are able, and willing, to be there for the family. What is Miss Daisy doing in your absence?

SEK, I know you are busy girl and hope some more of those movie opportunities present themselves.

LILYGAL, losing any pie crusts sounds like a lot of work but hopeful the strawberries survive. What an unfortunate mishap. I know you gals can whip more shells up but sad nonetheless.

Jo, hope things are well in your part of the country and you're staying cool. Many of the folks in my area spent their spring break in FL and came back nice and tan and shared how wonderful the temps were. They came back to snow yesterday. Didn't stick but snowed on and all all day. ACK!!

TB, sounds like you are enjoying life and glad the family has been able to visit. Look forward to hearing more about your horseback riding and of course your quilting. Oh, did you send the quilt to JennaP or are you waiting. I need to check on her blogs. I keep praying this little boy will be in her arms and healthy. What an ordeal she has had indeed.

I apologize if I missed anyone. I need to scoot off to work but will check back tonight. Enjoy your day!!!

Good Morning
My first day back to work was shocking to say the least. I felt soooo special it almost made me feel guilty. I work for a husband and wife company and they are always on a very tight budget not buying unnecessary things and usually used items for office furniture. Well much to my shock they had a brand new desk and chair waiting for me in my very own office. WOW I guess Mrs Boss was really looking forward to me being able to help her with her end of the business in accounting so she can have a break for other things. And I must say I am so glad to be away form answering the phones and I love working with numbers and on the computer. So this may work out for all of us.

Lily I hope you had a good lunch with your friend and also I hope those strawberries are ok. Oh you say 50 pie doughs isnít much but I would hate the thought of losing that many.
Pat44 how was your sewing class? I bet you are having a ball with that new machine.
WG how was momís eye appt?
SS how was the luncheon?

I went back to my cardio class last night. WHEW I had forgotten what a good workout that is. It felt great to work that hard again. Just different muscles than just walking and my normal ST routine.

I hope all of you had just as good a day.

I go by the name of PJ and live north of KC, MO. Winter in East Texas.

Onward and Downward

Its always too soon to quit.

It may take me longer to get to my goal than my original plan but I will get there.

Hi, friends!

Today was work day, 6 more weeks and then summer break. I was able to get in just a few minutes of walking during my lunch break time, and that just helped the whole day go better! I hadn't been able to do that in several weeks, so was very appreciative of it today.

Tomorrow is piano lesson, and then I have a hair appointment for a highlight/trim, which is at least two weeks overdue.

I sometimes don't get my freezer door shut well if I am not really careful with how I place things on the shelves, but it is an old freezer...I have to be very careful with it.

Have a good evening!

WG, we aren't sure why or who left it open. Don't even know why anyone would be in there! At times we have probation (community service) persons working in the museum under supervision and my only guess is that one of them wanted to see what was in there and didn't close it tight! They are usually kids who are in trouble with the law. It may have to stop!!

I am still enjoying the few activities that are going on here. Today is our last Girls Time Out luncheon. It will be a smaller group of women. We are having lunch at The Cheesecake Factory. It will be my first experience with the restaurant but everyone tells me it won't be my last so I'll see.

PJ - have you taken Sadie to the vet? When Bailey was sick this winter the vet said she was too old to fight it off without meds. As they age it is harder to bounce back. I know Sadie and Bailey are both elderly dogs and we will be devastated when we must say goodbye to them. I hope Sadie recovers so you have more time with her.

Good morning. I've just got two minutes but haven't even checked in for a couple of days. It is Mom's eye doctor appointment. Last time they tried to stretch out the appointments, the eye degeneration sped up, so we'll see.

PJ, so hard to hear Sadie is not doing well. I hope she is improving today. It is a hard thing when the dog children have problems. Even when they are old, it is hard as we have a longer relationship.

Lily, why would the freezer be left open? I'm glad you didn't lose more pie crusts as you roll most of them. Good for upper body, but tiring.

Pat, enjoy the sewing class. It is always fun to learn new things about the machine.

TB, enjoy visit with daughter. I'm glad she is sharing your love of quilting with you.

Have a great day all.

Good morning -
PJ, hope Sadie is feeling a little better. That is a tough thing...so thinking about you, too...

Lily, boo on losing all that pie dough. What a disappointment when you all have worked so hard.

TB- have a great time with your DD. I love those times so much - but then (to be honest) I can collapse afterwards!

I'm off this morning to the sewing shop where I got my new machine. I'm supposed to get a free lesson or two to learn to use it, but on Tuesdays, she also has a class where she teaches tricks and tips for this machine, so that's what I'm going to. Then I'll see about whether I need the free lesson or not. I've kind of just been learning myself and it's going pretty well.

My mother is still in the hospital but the docs now think there's something wrong in a kidney, so she's having a kidney angiogram today, and if she needs it, a stent in one of the kidney arteries. Last night she still didn't know what time, so I'll call in about 30 minutes and see if they've said anything this morning yet. I really hope they've found the problem....this afternoon, it will be one week since she went into the hospital, and that just doesn't happen very often anymore...

Okay- off to my day. Have a good day, one and all!

Good morning, ladies! Today I plan to get some things done around here! I didn't get much done yesterday with 3 kids here. A friend is taking me to lunch today for a late birthday celebration so that will be a break. I'd like to get my baking for the museum finished today and I think I can do that. But got a lot of errands to run this morning. I have a final refund check to deposit in mom's account and then we can finally close that. The gal that I work with at the museum called me on Sunday evening and she had been at the museum on Saturday. She found the door to one of the freezers open and the food was thawing! We lost some of our pie dough! Only about 50 but still that is a lot that we will have to make up. But she thinks that the strawberries will be OK. Lord, I hope so. I've got to go down and check on them again this morning.

Tammy, some times it is OK to be a bit "lazy". We all need down days.

TB, sorry that it is "too" quiet at your house!

Weezie, I know exactly how you are feeling! I did the same thing yesterday. What's up with that? But I will say that today will be different. The chocolate is gone and so are all the other "sins"!! I felt very sluggish this morning when I got up but I am feeling better since I got my excerise done. Hope that you get to feeling better!

PJ, crossing my fingers for Dave, Sadie and you! Hope all works out well.

I need to get a move on and get some of this stuff done around here.

I go back to work today (happy and sad at the same time). This will be the 1st day for Dave's outside transportation to treatment so I am truly hoping it works out otherwise it will be a change of plans for us. Keep your fingers crossed.

I thought we were going to have to put our Sadie down yesterday she had not eaten or drank any water for over 24 hours. But we finally got her to start again very slowly - so we will see if it continues.

Sounds like several of you have had a busy few days with family and grands getting worn out. But its a fun tired and you will recover quickly.

I won't be checking in during my work days as much (I have been spending too much time sparking anyway I love you all but do need to cut down my computer time) so ya'll have a great day. emoticon

Hello Ladies!!

Just getting ready to head off to work but wanted to say 'good morning' and wish you all a wonderful day. I have read your posts but don't have time to reply individually. Welcome back those that have been away for a bit and glad everyone seems to be holding their own and getting on with this game of LIFE!!

Feeling poorly this morning as I over ate yesterday and feel miserable today. I haven't done this to myself in sometime and not sure why I did yesterday. Just kind of a down day I guess and figured it would help. NOT!! Today I'm paying the price and plan to eat very lightly.

School will be back in session today so back to the normal routine of sorts. On the downside of another school year indeed. Golly time flies when you're having fun! Yea, that's it!! LOL

Have a great day!!

This is a fly-by to say hello to everyone ... I've read your posts but haven't had a moment to respond. My DD is home for a week and I had my grandson from Friday to yesterday. When he went home my DD accompanied him to my ex's so I had today to catch up on a few urgent things; tomorrow I go for another riding lesson and then pick up my DD. Then she's here until Saturday; she brought a quilt top/back home with her and I've promised to help her stretch and baste it ... that will take at least one full day. Next week - hopefully - I return to some sort of normal schedule.

Bonny: It's good to see you back.

PJ: Sending lots of prayers and positive thoughts your way.

Lily: I know how you feel re the grandkids ... the house seemed a little 'too' quiet today (found myself wondering what Lil G was up to - before I remembered he went home) The kid wears me out - and I enjoy every minute.

Tammy: You ... lazy? Not a chance!

I'll pop by tomorrow but I'm not sure when; like I said, my schedule is going to be crazy for the rest of the week. I'll be thinking of you all.

Take care.

Hi, everyone. I didn't get much done today, not nearly as much as I wanted to, but it was my own lazy self that was to blame. I am anxiously awaiting my summer break already. It is worse this spring than in the past.

We had Easter dinner leftovers for supper tonight, so all way easy there. Tomorrow is back to work.

I posted here earlier this morning but I guess it is floating out there in cyberspace!! Don't know where it went!

We had the grandkids today and I am worn out! Took them home about 4p.m. and got home and fixed supper and now I'm going to relax.

PJ, sorry about Sadie. Hope that she gets better soon. And glad that Dave is not too fatigued.

Dara, I love clean carpet! Glad that you had a good vacation.

Hope everyone else is doing fine. Not too many here today. I guess everyone is tired from the weekend.

I better check in.
We had a wonderful Easter brunch at grandsons house. Dad went with us but he is having hearing issues and blood pressure issues so he didn't enjoy it much not being able to hear. I will be taking him to doctor on Friday.
Took Dave to his appt this morning and he is holding his own pretty darn good other than getting fatigued.
our Sadie is sick again and I really thought we might have to put her down but she is a smidgeon better this afternoon. So its a wait and see thing

I return to work tomorrow and want to start back to the fitness center tomorrow after work too. A day at a time is how I am proceeding in my life at this time.

Wishing you all a good afternoon.

Good morning ladies.

I've been gone so long, I feel I need to re-introduce myself. lol
I'm in upper East TN and this is my 3rd week here. My son's girlfriend is awaiting surgery and that's why I'm still here. He wants me to be here for that and for a few days after. I've only been at my home 3 weeks in 2012 and I NEED to GO HOME. Their computer is so slow and with the speed of SP, it takes forever to log in so.....until I get home, I'm sending my best wishes for a great week - hope you all had a good Easter.

I haven't taken the time to catch up on everyone's activities but I hope you're all doing well.

Good morning,
Looks like I'm the first one to post on this Monday morning. Hope everyone had a nice Easter Sunday.

WG- Those different color potatoes sound interesting! How did they turn out?

Dara - coming home from vacation and cleaning the carpets? Oh my, girl, you WERE rested up! But I guess it can be fun, too, when you know you're getting ready for the new couches!

Our Easter was pretty quiet but enjoyable. Mom is still in the hospital and feeling pretty down yesterday. They may have found a kidney issue - but still uncertain. So, we wait.

Tammy, I like how your DH said that any day you don't have to visit someone in the hospital is a good day. Yep. Puts things in perspective.

So, off to spinning soon. This is the last week for our current instructor who we like a lot. We'll keep it up no matter what, but changing instructors can make a difference in how you feel about the class. I'll think positive!

Have a good day, everyone!

hi everyone. Back from vacation. Getting laundry done and 2 refrigerators combined. I also shampooed our carpets while DH mowed the lawns (weeds). Everything was knee high when we got home. But we are pooped and going to enjoy a crock pot roast in a bit. All the kids went somewhere else. DIL doesn't every see her family but on holidays so off they went. DS19 will be back soon if he wants to eat. :)

Other than that hope everyone had a relaxing Sunday and got to spend it how you wanted. I feel good having a clean carpet. New couches come Thursday. A little more work to do and then we will be ready.

Pics of my vacation coming soon. It was wonderful. Ready to go again.

I hope it has been a good Easter Day for my sparkfriends here. We had a couple of things at church this morning that were quite memorable; DH and I as well as some church friends who were at the afternoon service at the assisted living center with me mentioned it.

DH and I remarked that any day where we are not needing to visit someone in the hospital is a good day, so we have had a very good day in that regard. GS has been posting a bit on FB, and I have tried to keep up with his progress through his mom - to date she has answered 1 of 3 texts. I am trying really hard not to go there...I spent a lot of those hours at the hospital thinking how ironic it was that DH was getting more time with his GS there than he had in years...okay, I went there for a minute, but I am back on track now.

DH and I chose to go to a new Italian restaurant in town a bit ago - yummy! Of course, I had walked previously, which I am SURE helped...a bit. LOL

Have a good evening.

Good afternoon all. Just got home from church. Sat with DIL (the prickly one) through some of the meeting. I've decided to give things some cooling off time. Not wanting confrontation. Some of her issues is she has trouble interpreting signals. Part of her diagnosis, so she projects her feelings on others. I just didn't want to get angry vibes while trying to worship.

Today will be low key. Done all the candy stuff but some of the kids planned to come over for dinner, so I got a ham and will do potatoes int he crock pot. I found a bag of assorted potatoes including blue, yellow, red, and white potatoes. I just wash them, slice them up, and put them in the crock pot with either some dressing or just seasoning. Another DIL is bringing rolls and I've got some angel food cake and strawberries for dessert. I would do chocolate waffle cookies, but have to think about it a bit first. It would be great with the strawberries, though.

Weezie, hope the businesses are able to rebuild. It is hard for a small town to survive without a base of support.

PJ, enjoy your day.

Jo, hope your friend gets back with you soon.

Got to clean a little as I left a bag of trash in the dining room last night and the dog wanted to know what was inside.

Have a wonderful Easter all.
