Good morning all,

Just getting ready to head out for my only work day for the week. YIPPEE!!

SS, I forgot to ask, which FITBIT did you get? I think I want the Fitbit One next one I buy. I'm really not impressed by the Flex band. Let me know!

Have a lovely day ladies.

Hi Seesters. What a busy day for everyone. I'm watching The Sound of Music and getting ready for bed. I'm bushed. The second day always does that for me.

Had a cute little patient today who came in after a fall and broken bone. The worst part of the whole experience was admitting her actual age to the paramedics in the shop where she works. Apparently she was telling them she was much younger and she could have passed for that.

Other than that, it was a long weekend with delightful people. Both coworkers and patients. Sometimes it works well.

SS, enjoy your FItbit. They are fun. I still like my Omron best but have played with many of the pedometers and am playing with the idea of getting another one. I still wear the Omron but add the others because they will download or do something else.

Have a great night all.

Evening ladies!!

Just read through the thread and first and foremost I want to shout out a Great Big YAHOO!!! to SS on her making her weight loss goal. You make us proud my friend. emoticon

Been a busy weekend. Yesterday I spent the day doing 'me' stuff and got a lot done plus a nice long, and needed, nap. I baked cookies, made peanut butter balls, got cards done, got party favors made for Ava's birthday party today, and laundry besides my nap. Productive and relaxing all in one day.

Today we went to Ava's birthday party at a place called SkyZone. Indoor trampolines which they enjoyed but the noise - eghads!! She was tickled though as one of her little friends from school did show up and she got several presents and she was so very excited. She'll remember this birthday but hard for me to imagine that she is 5 already.

I only work tomorrow this week and then off. It will be busy in a different way but I do plan to get some time in my sewing room. Really needs to be cleaned up and organized as I've been using it to wrap presents so once they are all out of there this week, then I can figure out what's what and get to sewing.

Tammy, I too am excited to think you will join us in Shipsee this year. I gotta check the dates as well as I know I have a wedding in June and I think sister camp is in June. You'd think I'd know since I'm the one dictating when being the only one left working. However, did get an Xmas card from the gal who runs the place we are going and she is having some eye problems and will be having surgery. So, we may need to adjust. Time will tell.

WG, the quilts you're making sound adoreable. Do hope you share photos.

PJ, congrats on getting out to walk and glad you're able to get away.

LG, what a story about the gal being fired for being gone too long. Makes no sense to me and pretty crumby I might add.

Becky, it is nice to see you here. I bet you are having wonderful weather. We are suppose to get some snow on Xmas but in the 40's with rain til then. Strange start to the season.

Weezie, keep thinking of you and waiting for the news on the arrival of the new baby. What a wonderful Christmas gift.

Now I need to scoot ladies and get ready for work. We can wear jeans, we're gonna bring in some snack stuff and graze through lunch so we can cut out early. Sounds like a plan to me!!

Have a great evening!!

Was out walking the trail at 7:30 this morning. I just really like this place because I walk right out the door and am where I can walk in nature. Frank is out fishing for the first time this morning.
LG what a horrible thing for that lady to lose her job that stinks. But glad someone stepped up to give her a little bit of help and that she was grateful enough to Pay Back. Also good to hear that you are somewhat getting back into the swing of things.

Becky I know all about not getting in between a momma and their babies. Even us humans are very protective of our young. As far as your massage goes it sounds very relaxing but not very happy about being charged more than expected even if it was longer time.

Tammy I hope you get to go to Shipshe you will love it and Joe will enjoy it also. Or at least Frank did. But take $$$ with you for shopping.

SS that was good use of your winnings.

Happy Sunday to all my seesters.

Good Morning!

PJ - I've often seen javelina's out in the wild when we go for a scenic drive but we have never had them in our resort. I hope you get pictures but do be careful if the mother is anywhere near as I hear they will attack to protect their young.

Tammy - In my datebook, I have June 29th through July 1st as the dates for the Shipshawana rally. Norm would so enjoy you and Joe coming. Let me know and Norm and I will stay in the campground in our MH. Otherwise, I may go and stay with the ladies in the hotel. It would be fun if we have a few in the campground as we can have a potluck like we did a couple years ago when Frank & PJ came. Perhaps they can come again! I will continue to pray for Baby Jane and her family. A job would help so much so that is a specific prayer for them.

Becky - The massage does sound relaxing but you got to wonder how many others were duped! I would probably have paid as well but I wouldn't be quick to go back. I always wanted a juicer so our kids bought us a Jack LaLanne juicer several years ago. After using it a couple times and throwing out all the remains (which contains the fiber!), I decided it was wasting good food not to mention that you had to use so much for one glass. So I put it away and it sat in the cupboard for years. I guess that is why the NutriBullet Pro looks so good. At least you are using all the fruit and veggies. However, I decided to use my casino winning and buy a FitBit. I got it yesterday and I'm still getting it all set up and learning what info I can get. I hope I made the right decision!

WG - enjoy your extra day off. I can't think of anyone who deserves it more. I'm sure you will have a fun filled and noisy week with all the grandkids!

LG - your story about the lady repaying SVDP for their previous help was heart warming! Too many take help with the attitude they deserve it. It's refreshing to read of someone who is truly grateful for the help she received.

Not much going on here today. I am hoping to read the rest of my book. It's a nice Christmas story to help put me in the mood!

Hello, Seesters!

One of my goals for today will be to explore what a javelina is and also the exchange rate for a colone. emoticon That's one of the reasons this team has always been so interesting for me.

Is there a date set for the Shipshee event yet? I think I read it back last summer, but would like an update. DH actually has a route mapped out to get there in the RV, if indeed things "line up" so that we can make it. I have a niece that is getting married sometime next summer, so that is the only thing that I can see right now that might affect it.

My quilt-as-you-go hotpads were a hit in the family gift bags yesterday. SIL's mother asked if they were filled with sand, and explained that she had seen her MIL fill them with sand many years ago. I am still trying to figure out just how that is done; the conversations around us took a turn and we never got back to it. I have a few more to make for some of the last gift bags to be given this season. I will STILL have more Christmas fabric. My goodness!

Thank you for your prayers for Baby Jane's family. We provided them with leads for three jobs that we had seen advertised within the past 24 hours, so if you would please pray that he gets one of them, that would be a great blessing. That would indeed be better than if the unemployment came through, as I think that is just a percentage. Some of you may have seen me highlighted on a FB post from Baby Jane's mom, who actually is a Jennifer/Jenny as my own DD is. She highlighted my sister in Pensacola, me, and a couple of other people from her hometown and a small church in her home town. I know I took a monetary gift from my sister, and the info about the jobs that we had seen. I suspect they got some other monetary gifts, which were quite necessary from what I saw. The little family had blankets up at windows over hallways, trying to conserve heat, much as we did at my house during an ice storm years ago. My youngest sister wanted to meet me in Springfield yesterday for a monetary gift, but DH and I were already on the road to Branson, and as I knew that I had already taken monetary gifts the past two days, I knew that as long as it was there in the next day or so that it would be okay so shared that with youngest DS. So, long story short, if you would continue to pray, that would be wonderful.

Becky, that massage sounds wonderful, and I know myself well enough that I would have done just as you did when it was done. However, I probably would never go back so as not to confront - I am somewhat better about that with people closely in my life, but not with others.

Have a very good day to all my seesters!

Good Sunday morning!!

Sharon, I've wondered about the nutribullet, too. We have a juicer that we use (it's 25 years old and still going strong) but it takes all the fiber out of the juice. Their commercials make them look miraculous (of course). I'm always tempted to buy one when I see it on TV.

And emoticon on the weight loss!!!!

PJ, stay out of the way of the mama javelina. emoticon

Pat, how unfair that they fired the women whose dad died. I can't believe that anyone could live with themselves after doing something like that. I'm glad your church could help her....and how nice that she is giving back.

Weezie, I'm glad you're able to take some time off for Christmas. Maybe your Christmas present will be that you go back to work and your boss has decided to retire after all!!

It didn't rain all day yesterday!!!! Maybe we're finally in for some better weather. I went to an early yoga class and when I got out it was so foggy you could barely see. But when I got home (maybe a mile away from where I go to yoga) it was sunny. Our weather changes in a flash.

I went to the "coconut massage" (my Christmas present to myself) Friday afternoon at a new place. The goop she smeared on me smelled wonderful.....coconut and watermelon (I was tempted to taste it when she wasn't lookiing). And it really does rehydrate skin. Supposedly it was an 80 minutes massage with facial cleaning for 12,000 colones (a special she was offering). I kept thinking that my time should be up....and she kept going. She worked on my sciatic nerve and put a collagen mask on me....and all kinds of "extra" work. I thought that since she had just opened that she was trying to please her new customers. When she finally finished and I got dressed and saw the time.....I had been in there for THREE HOURS (and I don't think I've ever been so relaxed in my life). But she charged me 30,000 colones. I am a wimp sometimes and didn't say anything because she definitely did 30,000 colones worth of work...but I didn't ask for it. And luckily I had the money with me to pay. But if I ever go back to her I'm going to make it very clear exactly what I want....and maybe keep my watch on???

Good evening. Leaving for a minute to attend a reception. It is a neighbor so I need to go. Work again today and tomorrow. I'm ready for a few days off. I have ample vacation so I'm taking an extra day this next week. Hoping it works out and I can relax a bit.

Tammy, the doll beds are coming along. Quilt tops are done. Need to put the quilts together and do a quick machine stitch across it so it will stay together. Then it will be binding but I can do that while watching TV. I've got the big sheets and bedskirt but those should be easy. A hem, a casing, and the skirt is done. An elastic for the bottom sheet and a pillow and mattress.

LG, I'd love a gift wrapper. My DD sometimes did it but I usually did it over a month for a couple of hours a week. I've not done that this year so I've got a bit to be doing. It isn't that bad as almost all are in boxes.

SS WTG on the loss. I don't have a problem in Walmart but I tend to stroll and usually get about 1000 steps in the big box stores. If you lean on the cart it doesn't pick up steps as well. I also don't like shopping so it is in and out for me. If you get the 10 steps, it does record the ones before that.

PJ, I'm glad you are enjoying your walks.

Have a great day all.

Hey, ladies.....Thomas and I went to St. Vincent de Paul and helped move them into their new store! I pretty much supervised 8th graders. We had something very heartwarming happen. A lady I knew was there working and I know that she isn't a Catholic. She came up to me and we talked for a while and she told me that her dad had died at Thanksgiving and she went to Maine for his funeral. She was working but was gone for 2 weeks for the funeral and to help clean out his house. She had talked to her boss and was given permission to be off but only one week would be paid. But when she got back, they fired her for being gone so long. So she had come to SVDP for help and was given food and toys for her kids. So to "give back" she came and helped move the store. She worked really hard too! I was very impressed!

Read all the posts and so glad that every one is doing well.

Tammy, I'll keep Baby Jane's family in my prayers.

We did arrive at Falcon Lake yesterday afternoon. And we drove in very little rain and were able to get our ďtrainĒ hooked up without getting soaked. This morning I went for a trail walk around the park and now we are getting everything set up in the trailer and the campsite. Frank surprised me and brought some Christmas lights to hang outside. Many of the other sites have lights up also so it is pretty festive looking here in the campground.

There are wild javelena here in the campground that are not aggressive at all but fun to watch. We saw two yesterday that must only be a few days old so tiny and cute. I will try and get a picture of them.

Have a great Saturday.

Good Morning!

Well, I'm doing the Happy Dance this morning emoticon as I met my goal in our RV Challenge. I set my goal for a 20 lb loss in ten weeks. This morning I am down 2.6 lbs so my total for the challenge is 21.8 lbs emoticon

Our sky is so pretty this morning, such a deep blue and not a cloud in sight. Started the day really cold but warming up nicely. Should top out in mid 60's.

Tammy - thanks for sharing about Baby Jane's family. Some families have such had times. I will be praying for them. Holidays can be heartbreaking when the income is non-existent.

LG - crossing my fingers that Tuesday brings you relief when the pins are gone!

WG - I like my Omron but disappointed you have to walk out ten steps before it starts counting. I don't mind having to walk ten minutes for aerobic as that's understandable but I would like to know how many steps a day I actually get. For example, yesterday at WalMart grocery shopping, it only recorded 125 steps and I walked the whole stinking store! But, I obviously stop every few steps! I'm leaning towards a FitBit and the only thing stopping me is that it uses a Dongle to sync with my computer. I keep remembering the headache I had with the SPAT as my computer seemed to blow out that Dongle. I don't know if I want to go through the frustration so that it syncs automatically with SP.

Hi, Seesters!

Weezie, I found I had the years if I purchased a half year, I could calculate what the change in monthly income would be as per the retirement system, and I knew that I could supplement by working at the campus part time where I am now, and that is just what I did and I have never been sorry. I do hope my co-workers did not feel the same way about me as you gals do about your boss emoticon but I have had bosses that I felt that same way about. My health improved considerably, and part of that was finding Sparkpeople and part of that was the decrease in stress.

LG, glad to hear you finished up the Christmas shopping and that you have wrapping help! I wish I had wrapping help, and I didn't just have wrist surgery. I hope you find much relief on Tuesday - I know I would be looking forward to that if it were me.

WG, those doll beds done? Where might I find the pattern? I do have a couple little girls in the family who will have birthdays in the coming year - the first not until June, so I might get one done by then. emoticon

I spent some time yesterday making hot pads from the Christmas fabric that I have and I have 3?4?5? more to make. When that project is completed in the next week, I want to finish up the midi bags like Weezie makes. Those have been waiting on me since September or October.

I spent quite a bit of time yesterday - besides the sewing - on concentrating on how to help Baby Jane's family. I went and bought some basic groceries - meat, potatoes, freggies, milk, etc and took that to them along with some cash in a card so that they could put gas in the car, perhaps buy gifts for the kids, etc and also to assess what the situation indeed was. Jane's mom is having a hard time with ovarian cysts, which are worse during parts of her menstrual cycle of course, plus she had picked up the stomach bug that little Jane had had for a few days, so momma was in bed. I did visit with Jane's dad - my younger cousin - and his unemployment has been held up so no $$$ coming in except for some assistance for kid food and a small amount of Social Security to help with Jane. There was a meeting with an agency this Monday for some help with energy assistance, but as far as other things, the $$$ is about out or is out in the state agencies. A local organization closed at 2 yesterday and will be closed for 2 weeks. Yesterday afternoon I sent a private group FB message to my sisters and our cousins on that side of the family telling them what was going on, and I knew they could "at least" pray as I know there are times that sending $$$ isn't possible - I have certainly been there in my life - and they could at least touch base with them and send encouragement. I was pleased/blessed that one cousin who lives in the area is meeting with them this week and there might possibly be some help from her church even though the small church had already adopted a couple of families and my sister is sending me $$$ to help them with. One cousin asked for their address, so I put it on the private FB message as well, so perhaps others can at least send greetings/share they are praying, etc. So there is that heartwarming story...Jane didn't look any bigger than she did this summer when we saw her for birthday #2...but the doctors didn't expect her to live until 2, so that is something. emoticon I have a possible job application for the dad. I don't know that it would work out, but I don't know that it wouldn't.

DH and I have been invited to lunch today with the oldest SD and family in Branson - we were actually invited for more things, but DH chose the lunch only for various reasons. This will have been the first time that we have seen them at the holidays in years and it will be what it will be, won't it? Perhaps DH being one of two remaining relatively healthy
grandparents has something to do with that, and I won't even bring up all the years spent with the others who are no longer living. [Aren't they lucky to have me in their midst? emoticon ]

I shall close for now. Have a very good day, Seesters!

Just want to say emoticon We finished up all the Christmas shopping today. Rachel is the only one who will be here on Christmas day so she will wrap everything for me. Not sure when we'll celebrate with Jason's family.

Good morning. Don't know where the boys are but the girls are coming in a few minutes. I texted DS but he is not using his phone at work. He will respond when/if he can. I'm taking advantage of the time and finished the 2 tops I had started on Tuesday. I've got the other one to cut out and sew then put them all together. I'll also be cutting out the rest of the fabric later.

Have a pile of gifts to wrap and will be doing that over the next couple of days. I'm hoping for a peaceful week coming up.

Enjoy baking and your "me" time Weezie.

Weezie2, I agree about listening to the families. We usually do much better when we do but often the staff gets lazy when making assignments and doesn't think about the work load or the needs of the patients.

SS, I love my Omron as well and have had better luck with it than anything else. It isn't fancy and doesn't download automatically, which I love, but it is less bother and easier to use. I have worn it no matter what else I've had for a pedometer and have not regretted it.

Tammy, so glad DD is doing well. It probably isn't the protein but the fats in the food that cause problems, but it does take bile to digest so it might contribute. Burgers are notorious even if they are made from turkey are filled with fat. Many people find they adjust with time and can eat anything but it takes a few months to let things settle down. Hope her other tests turn out well.

The girls are here so I'm going to go play Grandma and do some laundry on the side. Have a great day all.

Good Morning!
Tammy - I haven't spent my winnings yet! It's like I'm afraid to make a decision as every hour on the hour I change my mind!

Do any of you ladies have the NutriBullet and what are your thoughts. It looks great but how often do you really use it.

And my Omron works so well that I hesitate on a Fit Bit, especially after all the problems I had with the SPAT.

Weezie - I know you are looking forward to your time off. I would be too!

Weezie2 - Perhaps you'll have a Christmas baby! As long as everything goes well with the birth, I'm sure you will be OK with anytime now!

LG - hope you're doing well and the pins will come out soon.

No baby yet...She's not due until Christmas eve. I am getting even more excited to meet her. I plan on getting a little baking done this weekend with Kami ( my 4 year old grand daughter)

I need to stop by the nursing home and talk with the head nurse. Once again they scheduled a male aide for mom. It's been charted for years that she won't accept their help. My mom ended up falling in her bathroom while he went looking for another aide to help. Mom is fine. They took all kinds of xrays and nothing is broken. Getting a call after 11 at night makes for a crappy night of sleeping.

I think Kelly and I are finishing up those sleep sacks today then I need to put away all my projects and get cleaning for Christmas eve dinner.

Have a Great Friday!

Good morning all,

Well, I'm happy it is Friday. I don't get the full 2 weeks off, just 2 days per week but I'm adding a few next week and will have to work just Monday and then off for six days, work 3 and have another long weekend. I'm ready. Plan to stay home tomorrow, bake, and just spend time doing things I want to do. Merry Christmas to ME!!! LOL

The boss showed up briefly yesterday and I think this episode is what she needed to make her realize it is time to retire. She has the years, she has the $$, just do it! So we shall see. She won't be back until Monday and briefly again and she is taking the rest of the 2 weeks off. Should be quiet AND productive to say the least.

Now I need to scoot but wanted to drop in, say hello and wish you all a great day!!

Becky, the molas are indeed beautiful. I am glad you shared about them; I spent some time looking at some.

WG, glad your day ended well. Enjoy the grands today. Glad you had a "Tammy happy" moment!

Weezie, this is your last full workweek until after the new year, I am thinking. emoticon

PJ, I enjoyed the picture of your Sparkfriend that you met. It sounds as if you did very well in the lunch department.

SS, did you buy something fun with your winnings?

LG, when do the pins come out? I am certain that you have said.

Weezie2, is the baby here yet? What anticipation!

DH and I met DD and BF for lunch yesterday, as their work schedules may not allow Christmas Eve or Day festivities. DD is doing better one week post-surgery, but is quickly finding out she cannot eat certain things, or at least not in the portion sizes she is trying. I don't think she had anything other than heartburn from our Olive Garden lunch, but she had a lot of pain from a protein shake she tried to have for breakfast yesterday morning and then again from a turkey burger in the evening. Rightly or wrongly, she is associating the pain with the protein. DH and I continue to see characteristics in BF that we really like. Yesterday was the day for her biopsy procedures and she shared with me privately just how much BF was there for her. It wasn't exactly lunch table conversation emoticon

Some positive thoughts/prayers for Baby Jane's family, please....I think the stress of what is likely inevitable is getting to her momma, and a mixup with unemployment for the dad [my younger cousin] at the holidays isn't helping. The dad works in landscaping, I believe, and of course that is more seasonal. He had been going to college full time until the high risk pregnancy occurred. The momma has a degree of some type - at least an associate's and perhaps a bachelor's - but of course she needs to be there with Jane as her health is so fragile. There is little to no family support from the children's grandparents. I find myself wishing I had considered this possibility throughout the year and planned accordingly, but will do what I can.

Hello to all! I am off to sew, even though it is way too early - I might as well be productive!

Good evening. Long day at work. Lots of busy patients but it calmed down a bit by the time I left. That's good.

Becky, the Mola work is beautiful! I think it is a fun idea. You can start with some small pictures and work from there.

You are right about the Mom and sewing. My mom was a great seamstress. She sewed professionally for a while and knew many tricks. She taught my sister and me and we then took over making our own clothes. I tried to get my girls to sew and they did the minimum and walked away. It has been interesting to see the directions they take. Neither has hobbies that involve making things. They don't cook, sew, or even work with yarn. They do exercise and like to travel but nothing all that domestic.

LG, glad your DD could help with the sink hole. It is nice to have connections.

SS, WTG winning at the games. You have embraced the weight thing again and are doing very well. It is not as hard when you "have" to think about eating healthy and you know what will happen if you don't.

PJ, how fun to meet with a Spark friend. I'm glad you missed the snow. Still no snow here but they are saying it will be here for Christmas.

Weezies, Tammy, others. I'm off to bed. Boys coming tomorrow.

Yes we did leave home just in time as we have reports of 4+ inches of snow back home with all the schools closed.

Had a lovely lunch with my spark friend Karen. It is still early enough that Iím going to change clothes put on my walking shoes and take a walk before the rain gets here.

We each had a bowl of soup. So I did eat a healthy lunch (mine was mushroom and beef) very tasty until I got toward the bottom too much pepper for me. We are cleaning out and finishing up the Christmas dinner leftovers this evening so when we get to Falcon it will be time to start cooking again and healthy cooking.

Becky too bad we arenít closer and you would have the whole team of seesters at your doorstep waiting for that plantain.

I found a whole pineapple at the store this morning for $1.48 so it is now in our kitchen waiting to be cut.

Sharon, I think you must have bought a plantain that wasn't ripe enough for the oven recipe. There's no way a ripe plantain is going to taste like a potato. emoticon They are incredibly sweet and almost melt in your mouth. I guess you'll just have to come down to visit me and I'll make you the best baked plantain you've ever had (literally....since that was your only one).

Morning Ladies!
I had to come searching for you girls again this morning! I quit getting notifications and in this busy season I've missed posting. I went back over a week and caught up on your posts - whew, you all are busy too!

LG - sounds like the sink hole was an ordeal but lucky you with your DD's connections. I hope the hand is recovering well and I've heard it doesn't hurt when the pins are removed.

Weezie - our weather is really different this past couple of weeks. Lots of rain and unseasonably cooler temps. BUT, I'm not complaining as we don't have to shovel the rain. And we can still be outside with sweatshirts or light jackets. December is our coldest month and by next month the temps will start to rise again. We are in about the mid 60's for our highs right now.

WG - congrats on finding a buyer and accepting their offer. I hope it all goes well and soon that will be a load off your mind!

Becky - We bought a Plantain and I baked it with butter and cheese. It was OK and reminded us somewhat of a potato. Not sure I would buy it again though. Sorry, but I believe it is an acquired taste.

Weezie2 - How exciting that one baby is here already and it won't be long and you'll be a Grandma again!

I think I've commented on the other ladies news in other threads! I enjoyed reading about all of your Holiday get togethers. I will miss that this year. My diet is still going strong and this week I hope to make my 20 lb goal in our challenge. Oh, and I went to the casino yesterday and won $100.

Morning, ladies....

WG, no septic there now but years ago it was there. We are required to be on city sewer. We had septic at our other house and never had a problem in 25 years.

I love the Hawaiian quilts....my sister had a friend who made one and quilted it. Took her 10 years. I probably don't have 10 years left!!!!

emoticon to everyone. Going to lunch with a friend today. See y'all later.

WG, I looked up the Hawaiian quilts and they are beautiful!! Have you ever seen the molas made by the Cunas in Panama? They are reverse applique. Everyone who lived in Panama has at least one framed. My mom used to make us mola bikinis when my friends and I were lifeguards. She could make anything....like all you ladies. Maybe that's why I never learned to sew....or anything else....since she made everything for me. emoticon

After looking at the quilts I started doing a google search on different handcrafts. I saw some really interesting simple looms. I think I'm going to have our carpenter make a simple one to put in my classroom for the kids. I think they would really enjoy it.

What a sad story about your nephew. Family relationships can certainly be complicated!!

I've really gone off track with my food plan with all these dinners (etc). I'm going to have to get myself back on track today.

It's still raining.

Hi Seeesters. Home from work. Had an interesting day. Sometimes the problems are with the families and not necessarily the patients.

Becky, the Hawaiian quilts are colorful flowers appliqued on white fabric. Lots is hand work. I think of the Hawaiian women quilting in the tropical sun. The quilts are decorative as opposed to warming. I've toyed with the idea of making one for my DD who married in Hawaii. I'm glad your priest can eat anything at your house. What a tribute to you.

LG, glad the problem is fixed. Septic tanks are a mess. I'm glad I no longer have to deal with one. Grew up that way.

Weezie, good for remembering the other girls. My ex SIL ran off with her son and no one knew where he was from the time he was 6 until he was 13. Mom tried to find him and send cards and gifts. When she did find him, she was the only one who was allowed to see him. He came to see her when she died. It was an interesting relationship but he always knew she loved him. Perhaps that is what I need to tell him. I'll think about that some more.

Tammy, hit the craft store tonight for one more small piece of fabric. It made me smile (Tammy happy) that as I walked out of the store the ground had sparkles from all the previous people. It was a cheerful thing on a cold dark night.

I found a lovely black with white dots that will be beautiful with the dark pinks. They are indeed doll quilts Weezie. I'm making doll beds for the 5 little girls who are old enough to have dolls. I found a pattern for making them from under bed storage boxes so the girls can use the box to store the dolls and they have fitted sheets, quilt, pillow and bedskirt to make the dolls enjoy their beds as well as the girls. I also have some outfits. I bought these as I ran out of time. I'll make some outfits later next year when I have a life.

I'm off to bed. Have a great day all.

Evening all,

Well I just came up from wrapping the last Xmas gift. I will take a few to younger son's girls even though I'm not a part of their life. Their loss.

Next is Ava's birthday this coming weekend. Dad has her on Saturday which IS her birthday (his turn this year) and so mama has a party planned for Sunday. Now to find some wrapping paper other than Xmas. She is still into her Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Who'd a thunk! LOL SkyZone is on tap so it should be interesting. I was really proud of Sara to finally get something planned. Ava would of been bummed!!

Last night we had an Advent party at church. It was a lot of fun. 70 of us were there, had a potluck, exchanged Xmas ornaments and did Los Pasadas. I'm not sure I'm spelling this right so a little reading and singing. I'm glad I went.

I'm tired and so I need to get to bed early tonight. Boss is still out with her Bells Palsey and claims she will be in tomorrow. We shall see. Many things sitting and waiting as we're not allowed to do much without her signing off on all things. Gets old for sure. Only 2 more days this week, and one next and I get a nice long break. I work a couple of days the week between Xmas and New Year but that is fine. It'll be quiet and I can flex.

WG, so you're making quilts for Xmas I take. I can just see your sewing machine flying as you push to get em done.

LG, glad the sewer issue was quickly fixed and glad your hand is coming along nicely. I'm sure you'll be glad to get the pins out.

Tammy, potholders? I think I might like making some variety of them as they are quick and pretty easy. Did you enjoy making them and are the gifts?

PJ, love the haircut. Saw it on FB. I'm still trying to figure out what to do with mine .

SS, how's the weather in AZ?

Weezie2, I know you are getting so excited about the new grandbaby. What fun to have a little one again eh? Do hope Kelly is feeling well and all goes smoothly. Do keep us posted.

Now I need to scoot but hello to you all and hope your week is going well. emoticon

LG, emoticon on getting that problem fixed! Wow!

WG, how are the quilts going? I worked on and finished a potholder using a method of quilting that I saw on MSQC tutorial so I felt quite crafty. Now to do the other and soon have the "family" gifts done. That is a very good suggestion for Becky about the Hawaiian applique quilts.

We are meeting DD and BF and treating them to lunch tomorrow and giving them their gift. She has her biopsies - yes, plural - tomorrow morning. I do hope she gets good news. She went out to eat last night and knew fairly soon that the extra butter and cream in the mashed potatoes were not going to be good for her system. It may be very interesting since she wanted to eat at her all time favorite restaurant tomorrow.

Off to do more walking and sewing. Hello to all!

Pat, that sinkhole problem sounds like it could've been a nightmare. Thanks goodness you guys had your daughter's influence to get it done quickly and efficiently. I haven't had the shingles vaccine yet, but I went this morning for a pneumo23 vaccine. My arm is sore.

WG, what a nice project for your church to do....caroling and delivering Christmas treats. I'm going to look up Hawaiian applique quilts in just a minute and see what they are. The pillowcases actually sound "do-able" for someone with no handcraft skills. A friend just made me a drawstring bag for my yoga mat....and I love it!!!! She's the one who makes all kinds of beautiful cloth bags. When I had my citizenship party she gave me a red, white and blue one and another one made out of Indian material for belly dancing. She is extremely talented....and has good taste.

Weezie2, do you have other grandchildren? You must be so excited waiting for your "Christmas bundle".

PJ, I hope you made it to your winter home safely.

We had our favorite priest and some good friends over for dinner last night. The priest has lost 30 pounds working with a nutritionist over these past six months. He is so excited and it was fun to hear him talking about nutrition and how to eat. He was really happy with our dinner because we always make healthy food....and he could eat everything. He has cut out sweets completely because he said he is like an alcoholic with sugar and if he eats even a small piece of cake or pie or a piece of candy he spirals out of control. I'm a little like that sometimes when I go off my food plan.

Still raining.....

Hello.....WG, the sinkhole turned into a very LARGE sewer problem. I tried to tell Thomas that it was over an old septic system. It started to come up in the yard. Thank God, Rachel works where she does. One of their businesses is sewer work. She called her boss and they were there on Friday morning at 8a.m. She had to call in "locates" and all utilities were located. All taken care of. This company doesn't actually do "private" work as they do cities, etc. but because of Rachel we got it done in record time.

Going to get my hair cut today and was pretty happy about getting nails done. Now I need to get off of here....pins are killing me!!!

Did some Christmas baking at Kelly's house today. I'll be back tomorrow to see if we can get most of it finished. I think Kami will be over here Friday because she doesn't have school and I'll do some baking with her then too.

Baby time will soon be upon us. Her mother in law texted her today to see if she was having contractions yet. Her due date is a week away yet and it's not going to go any faster with those kinds of questions. I realize this is her first grandchild but she's not helping. Sorry, I know I'm venting but I think it's hard enough having your first child without having a lot of unnecessary comments or questions.

Hi Seesters. Still sewing like a crazy woman. The quilt instructions were a little off and I wanted the quilt to look like it did in the pictures so I've adjusted the size a bit. Had to add a row each direction. Since the quilts are simple squares, it wasn't hard. Two tops done and three to go. The sheets and bedskirt are much easier. I'll do those on Monday. I'd like to get one or more tops done tonight before I go to bed but certainly before then end of the week. Then I can focus on the other stuff Monday. I actually have Christmas day to do some of this but really need to get done.

LG, glad you feel good enough to get your nails done. How is the sinkhole? Good for you to get the shingles vaccine. It is worth it not to get them.

Weezie2, baby time is coming soon. I'm sure everyone is excited.

PJ, safe travels.

I just got a gift from the church. They came by caroling and gave all the widows and single people a gift. It was some apple crumble bread. I'll have to share it with the kids, but it is tasty.

Got to get back to quilting. If I can get the tops done, I'll be able to quilt on Friday as I'll have only 2 of the boys then.

Have a great day..

Good evening. Had a busy day sewing and puttering. I was "on call" so no grands in case I got called in. So I had time to sew, clean, and even rest a bit. It was a nice and quiet day. Tomorrow it's the three amigos and I will be watching two on Friday as well.

Got one quilt ready to be quilted. Another top is cut out. These are doll quilts so they won't take all that long. I just need to get going. Time is short.

PJ, safe travels. I'm glad you are getting out before the weather turns. There has been some interesting storm activity west of you. I know California is doing much better. It's always hard. I'm glad the family party worked out well and you had a good visit with your Dad.

Weezie, It's good that your party worked well as well. How did the stocking hanger go? I know you worked hard to make sure the stockings were hung well. How did the kids "buy" their gifts?

Tammy, Cracker Barrel is always fun. It was so nice for you to remember your DB.

Becky, cake decorating is out, quilting may not be the right thing although the Hawaiian applique quilts might be fun and very appropriate for you. I enjoy making pillow cases. They are quite easy and there is an organization called 1 million pillow cases that gives them to children in the hospital (Project Linus gives quilts/blankets to children in the hospital) so they have something that is colorful, theirs, and not scary. Lots of patterns on the Internet.

Heading to bed. Lots to do tomorrow. Hoping to get a lot done this week even though I have only 2 more days. I guess it will happen if it happens.

WG great news on your moms house. That will be so nice to have that done.

Weez our house was a noisy fun time too. But I was exhausted when the day was over. Iím not used to having little one running around like maniacs. It was fun but tiring. I took dad back home too, but felt like I needed that time with him since I wonít see him again until April.

We had a wonderful Christmas gathering at our house yesterday. Everyone showed up and it was a good time with lots of food. And so entertaining this year with the young ones. Jackson will be 2 next month and Anthony is 6 and Nathan is 9.

This morning we took MIL to doctor for a follow up on her anemia problem and the Iron supplements she has been taking did the trick. So the specialist says she doesnít have to come back unless there is a problem again. Just keep having her lab work checked by her primary.

We have never packed up in one day (DH did have all his outside packing done and the boat already) so it was finishing all the food, clothes etc that needed packed inside. All this means we have worked our buns off all afternoon to get finished and we are hitting southbound route in the morning. Yippee.

I am planning another spark friend (for the first time) Thursday and by the end of the day Friday we should be at Falcon Lake.

Gotta go still a few more things to do before I sit for the day and relax. Hi to all those I didnít respond to directly. emoticon

Tammy, it sounds like your DB is extremely strong...coming so far with his heart problem. And he'll even be able to get out of rehab soon? I bet he was thrilled to get the crafting tools to keep himself busy. Time can go by so slowly when you can't get up and around. I sure hope he can forge a better relationship with his kids!!

Your pillowcase idea sounds good. Quilting is out since it was too complicated for me. Once the holiday season is over and things calm down I may go down to PricesMart and look for an inexpensive sewing machine to learn on. A friend of mine makes beautiful bags that seem like they would be pretty simple too (though I also thought quilting wouldn't be too hard).

I really enjoyed the cake decorating course I took in April last year, and they offer all kinds of other courses, but I'd kind of like something that isn't related to food.

Weezie, your peanut butter balls sound wonderful....especially with chocolate involved. Would you mind sharing your recipe....or telling me where I could find it on-line?

You northerners aren't having such bad weather from what you've posted here. I skyped with three old high school cronies last night who live in Florida and they were huddled in blankets....suffering in 30 degree weather.

And it is not raining this morning!!!!!!

Hi, Seesters!

DH and I enjoyed a Cracker Barrel breakfast yesterday - I was not able to get MY favorite as it is only done in the fall, but DH was able to get his favorite, so it was a good time and I didn't wreck my calories for the day.

WG, glad for the forward move on the house. What a relief for you!

LG, hope you return to normal sooner than expected...

I enjoy reading about the holiday experiences...

Becky, I have read about others sewing pillowcases for others. I think that may be my holiday/family themed gift next year...it sounds fun to me. I shall have to watch for holiday themed fabric to go on sale after Christmas this year. Just another sewing idea that occurred to me...I have had much less gift-giving stress by thinking up a "family evening" themed gift for the past couple of years. The pillowcases might be an extension of that.
[I realize I totally hi-jacked an idea that I was giving you...but I am pleased that I may have next year's gift thoughts begun! emoticon ]

Have a very good day, friends, and hello to all!

Hi Seesters. I'm heading to bed in a minute. Been a long weekend.

I accepted (on behalf of my siblings) an offer on Mom's house. It is moving forward. I'm glad to be going in the right direction with this one. I signed the agreements and scanned them and mailed them back. Love this electronic age.

The kids were over today and it was wild. It was also DD#1's birthday today so we called and sang to her. She didn't want to come to dinner as she had a lot of things going on but she did stop by after all. It was fun to visit. The kids were pretty wild, though and we had to put the swords (pool noodles) away and do some other intervention.

Tammy, sounds like you found some good things for DB. Glad DD had a good experience and is feeling a bit better.

Weezie, it sounds like your party turned out good and you can now relax and enjoy the rest of the season.

Weezie2, outside lights? You are a better woman than I for sure.

LG, feel better.

Off to bed. Have a great night all.

Hi all,

Just popping in before turning in. Another full week of work and then a short one. A very short one, like 1 day. Looking forward to the time off. Not sure what to expect where boss is concerned as she does have Bell's Palsey and may just try to work from home. She can do that especially if I'm willing to be the courier for her. Not out of the way so we'll see what she decides. Maybe this will be the push to slow down and consider retiring. She just turned 58 in September.

Our Xmas with the kids went well yesterday. The little ones were good and the big ones seemed to enjoy the buy your gift idea. Had lots of food and all seemed to have a good time. I enjoyed them but sure was nice to have the 'quiet' once they all left. Will run around a bit on Xmas eve after we donate blood but basically we're done. DH and I don't exchange since we buy things all year long. We will enjoy our time together and just enjoy our space.

We too have a 50+ degree day here. Very weird this time of year but DH was pleased as it was also still so he was able to go out and calibrate his quad copter he's built and he bought himself (for our game yesterday) a camera he can wear on his head to video his flight with this thing. He can also mount to the quad but he was practicing with that today.

My older son asked if I'd help him out and make peanut butter balls for him to give to his kids and helpers at school so I did manage to get a batch done after ruining the first by misreading the recipe. At least I didn't burn the chocolate this year. Did that last year. Have enough chocolate to melt for another batch and had 1 cup left of this one so I'm gonna get some stick pretzels and make for the holiday to give away as well. Maybe for work or something. I am going to bake for our mechanic and the guys there so maybe they'll get a few too! Fortunately, I can leave it be so will enjoy keeping busy and doing it for others.

Weezie, glad you enjoyed the craft shows but sorry they didn't go as well as you'd hoped. I'd still like to make a few bitty bags to use to put something in as a gift but haven't gotten that far.

To you all, hope you had a great weekend but I need to get to bed. I'm tired.

Will check back this week. Gotta get Ava tomorrow after work so will be busy but will be fun!!

We had a wonderiful 50 degree day. A beautiful day to hang my outdoor lights. I forgot what a big job it is to do by oneself. Started a little later than I wanted because I go go replace my lights. I found half my strings to have burned out. Oh well it's done now except for my small snowflake path lights.

We had our last craft fair yesterday. It's good to be done for a few months. They advertised well but didn't have much of a crowd going through. Needless to say it wasn't a big money maker for any of us.

Have a great Sunday!

Hello, Seesters!

WG, young ones learning piano! emoticon Of course, that is very close to my heart. I am glad you were able to make this recital. I MUST make progress in my sewing room this month; I think I should begin TODAY. Yes, I do think I will do that! emoticon

BGN, my DB - just turned 53 - has dealt with coronary issues since his late 30s, and didn't take care of himself either and as part of that is a lifelong alcoholic and smoker. This past August he was with his neighbor three hours from his home where he lives by himself and suffered another cardiac incident - I am not sure yet if it was a clot, a stroke, an attack, or just what - but the neighbor did CPR and the paramedics worked for a long time - long story short, we did think there was going to have to be a life support decision, but luckily we did not have to do that. Then it was not quite clear what might have to be done for him to be able to live independently, but about ten weeks in a care facility where he had different types of therapy has resulted in a pretty decent quality of life considering that only 1/3 of his heart functions. I hope perhaps that he has been granted more days so that he can reconcile with his three children to some degree - they are now all three in their 20s. The oldest has a little boy who must be 6 now.

Anyway, DH and I went and DH was adamant about taking him some crafting tools that he [DH] had talked to him about - these tools help to cut holes in glass so that a small string of Christmas lights can be inserted for a decorative holiday piece. These can be done in all types of glass. The neatest one that I have seen done was for my oldest SD in an old glass bleach bottle; DB told me last night that he had done one for his neighbor's wife [the one that did CPR on him] with an antique jar that the wife's grandmother had had. So we are hoping it gives DB something to occupy himself during winter days and he can do this for his friends who have admired the piece that DH made for him. Most of my gifts these days are something that is homemade, such as cookie and soup mixes, and I took him some of those as well.

A sewing hobby - I don't think I am terribly creative, but I do enjoy simple quilting patterns - 4 patches are easy. You might check out Missouri Star Quilt Company; I enjoy it because she has videos you can watch and makes things very easy for me. I also enjoy crocheting, and used some of my yarn stash on some children's caps, but your climate is much, much warmer so that might not be good. I know my friends here will have lots of suggestions!

Weezie, your Christmas celebration sounds like it was a good one, and I know that PJ has hers today for us to hear about. emoticon

Have a very good day. DH mentioned a couple of things he wanted to do today, so I will be around and about soon.

Well, this rain just won't stop. It's been raining for three weeks now. emoticon I think I'm beginning to grow mold....like everything else in the house.

I am going to look into some kind of sewing hobby....inspired by all you creative people. What would be one of the easiest projects related to material or yarn???

We have two dinner parties next week....and then weīre going to make tamales (Costa Rica's version) on Wednesday. Our tamales are wrapped in banana leaves and have the corn "masa" filled with pork, rice and vegetables. They are an incredible amount of work!! If it was up to me, I'd stick to Christmas cookies. emoticon

Weezie, I would love to have fine hair. Mine is curly and unmanageable....and gets worse in this humidity. Pure frizz. I keep thinking SOMEONE is going to be able to cut it so that it will be controlable....but I haven't found that someone yet.

Tammy, what happened to your DB? He must have made incredible progress if you were having to think about life support for him at one point.I'm glad he's doing so well.

I saw an advertisement for a Christmas special that I'm going to take advantage of. It's a 90 minute therapeutic massage with a free facial thrown in. I'll probably need it after making tamales!!!

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone. I'm going to go watch the first two Hobbit movies at my brother's in preparation for going to see the last one this week.

Good evening Seesters. Another busy day. DD#1 came over to fulfill an agenda she had. It was interesting but we found a compromise and she and I got a lot done. I have the makings of my sewing area and can now move it there and sew to my heart's content. She isn't into sewing so she doesn't really understand it at all. She is into "order' and sewing really doesn't have that. Piles, and some organization, but not pristine order.

Cinderella had a dance recital tonight and Princess Purple had a piano recital. It was fun to watch the children grown and learn new skills. I missed the Dragon's recital a couple of weeks ago.

Got gifts to wrap, and the doll beds to sew. I'll head out and visit tomorrow after the kids leave. Have a great day.

Evening all,

Just wanted to pop in before heading to bed. Our Xmas with the kids went well and all seemed to have a good time. Now I just need to tend to some baking that I want to give as gifts and done for another year.

PJ, love your new hair. I may give up this notion of growing mine out and whack it off. I don't know what to do with this fine stuff so I'm struggling with it.

Weezie, how exciting that just a few weeks before the new baby will arrive. I got such a visual of you changing your LR around to accomodate the train for Kami. Little ones really make the holidays.

WG, kudos to you for having the photo taken for your child. The things we do for them.

Hello to all but I need to get to bed. I'll check in tomorrow.

WG sometimes we must sacrifice for our kids and that was one of those times.

Tammy sounds like DD is doing better and is getting those good grades she worked hard for. Hope you find DB doing better also. Why is it that bananas go bad so quick. We can never get them eaten fast enough. I have started going to the store 2 times a week just for fresher produce.

Gotta get back to my dinner preparations for tomorrow.l

Seesters...

WG, my goodness! A picture! You certainly put a "shingle on your shack" with that one, and so graciously as well. emoticon Any news about the house yet?

PJ, I took a bag with a couple of skeins of yarn to the hospital with me, fully intending to at least begin a crocheted infinity scarf with bulky yarn - again using up things I already have - and I only got one of the skeins wound into a ball. I guess it is waiting for me when I DO get to it. It might be a nice evening project while watching/listening to television in the evening. I actually do more listening these days.

DH and I are going to see DB today. It is still so amazing to me the progress that he has made since his attack in August and when we thought we might need to make the life support decision. We are taking him some things to work on some crafts he is interested in - upcycling some things - that we think might keep him involved in something until spring gets here and he can get outside and perhaps do some garden work. He might not be able to use his garden tractor, but I bet neighbors could till his garden and/or I could take my little cultivator and work it up so they he could spend a bit of time in it daily as he was able. It seems a pain patch that he changes weekly now has a charge - I forget the Medicaid term - but I told him it was worth it for the pain relief he got and that he could likely absorb the charge by cutting down on the cigarettes. emoticon All true...

DD was pretty good yesterday after discovering her pain is worth when getting up and down. She still managed to walk, though. Her FB posts have been positive. She did find out her Statistics grade - she managed a high B on the final and ended up with an A for the course. She did something I didn't do on my math degree [I think I was very happy with a B in that same course 40 years ago] , and I certainly never dealt with what she does/did. She won't find out her pathophysiology grade until as late as Monday, because it was an online class and the students had a deadline of 3 p.m. yesterday to take the final.

I am off to bake some pumpkin/banana bread to include in DB's Christmas gift. I am upcycling the bananas that have set on my counter for too long! emoticon

Good evening Seesters. I'm home finally and ready to head to bed.

Graduation was good. It was fun to see the last one graduate. I'm grateful that the kids value education. It wasn't me so much as them encouraging each other. I always expected them to go to college but they encouraged each other and are always supporting each other and encouraging each other.

The low note of the day was having my picture taken with my son and ex. My son asked for it. We separated when he was 11 and I guess he missed that "unity" that he thinks he needed. I smiled and had my photo taken. It is fine. I'm sure he will enjoy the picture.

Tammy, sounds like your DD is doing well. I'm glad she is. It is much easier than it once was and we are getting better in medicine about managing pain.

PJ, I love your hair. It looks very nice on you and I"m sure you will enjoy it. It sounds like you have things organized well and will have a nice time after your errands this week.

I'm off to bed soon. No exercise for me today. I feel bad about it but it was a necessity.

My mammogram is done for another year. Stopped and told dad about his BIL passing and reminded him of our dinner on Sunday. Which he did not remember actually I had to repeat myself a couple of time within a few minutes about the time that we would pick him up and what we were doing. He said ďIím losing it my mind is getting worseĒ. I never know how to respond to this so I usually say ďYes a little bitĒ and move on in the conversation.

Baked my 2nd and last kind of cookies one less thing to do tomorrow for our dinner on Sunday. Frank is bringing in empty baskets to pack our clothes in for the trip and I just keep adding to piles. I donít want to actually pack anything until after our dinner on Sunday and MIL doctor appointment on Monday. Then it will be see how soon we can get loaded up and leave. Iím thinking Wednesday or Thursday at the latest. These last few days we are always so ready to go and donít want to have to much time on our hands to just sit around and wait.

WG I am so proud of your children and I know you are also. What an accomplishment to get them through college and some advanced graduate programs. Youíre a good momma.

Tammy I did get those crochet headbands done and made one for myself also. Also made some more sewn headbands. My dads BIL was the one you are thinking about they live in Iowa so I wonít see any of them until probably late spring. This is actually her second husband but they were married many many years. And I am sure she will be in a nursing home withing a few days or weeks for sure.

Becky glad you got back safely. I donít think I would want to drive there either if I didnít have too. I love going into bookstores (especially used ones) and donít do it very much. Its fun to just look and see what is there.

Weez2 you could be Gma at any moment. Exciting. Kami will love the train. You had a challenge trying to find the right furniture arrangement to fit that train. Have a good time playing with Kami and the train.

P.S. I posted a new pic to my page of my new haircut and glasses.

My niece had her little girl yesterday. Mother and baby are doing fine. She weighed in 7#2oz and was 20.25 long. They live 3 hours away so it will be some time before I get to visit. Kelly's due date is less than 2 weeks away now so it's getting to be crunch time for this G'ma to finish a few baby projects.

I finally made it to Lowes to get that train for under my Christmas tree. Kami will love it. I didn't realize how much room it took up. I rearranged my furniture 3 different times until I found an arrangement that works. Needless to say my decorating didn't get as far as I hoped it would.

Have a Great Friday!

Geez.....it feels like such an accomplishment to arrive home safely after a trip to San Josť. Our curvy mountain road was foggy and wet and there were lots of huge trucks barelling along at top speed. And down in the "central valley" people drive like maniacs and don't follow any road courtesy...or road rules at all. Very stressful. I know people who come down to Costa Rica and absolutely refuse to drive. You can't do that when you live here though. emoticon

I traded in a bunch of books at a used book store, though. emoticon I mostly use my kindle, but I love physical books. Just walking in a book store makes me happy. That's one of the things I really miss about the states!!!

Tammy, thank goodness all went well with your daughter's surgery. What a relief for you.

WG, you must be so proud of all your kids. Congratulations on having the last one graduate.

Hi, Seesters!

Seester WG, how proud you must feel of your children with regards to their education, and the soul satisfaction of having done what you could do to help them accomplish those goals over the years. I love the passing on of the KitchenAid tradition as well.

Seester PJ, this time next week you will be leaving for TX! emoticon I know that I enjoy your writing about your "doings" in a warmer climate. That is really quite nice that everyone lives within 15 miles, too. Did you get a visit in to the family that lost the mother? Your cousins, right? Did you get the headbands done for your future DIL? I thought of you doing those as I wound a skein of yarn yesterday. That's as far as my crocheting project got, though. It took me a while to manage the finals that I was grading - not quite as simple as using a table, or desk, but I did get that set done while waiting.

DD did well - the procedure took longer than expected - and I think she actually did quite well afterward until [as per a FB post a couple of hours ago] she tried to lie down in bed and then had some pain and so decided to get up and rest on the couch. Perhaps posting it on FB helped her feel better? emoticon I hope she quickly learns and will adhere to dietary choices that won't tax her digestive system, but she already had issues there with IBS, etc, so it will be interesting. I had warned her about bloating, and she walked around the Supercenter where she gets her meds while they filled the pain prescription and texted me she burped several times during her walking, so that was good.

I give finals from 8 a.m. to noon today. I may stay and finish up grades as well as my other responsibilities for end-of-semester ahead of the 10 a.m. Monday deadline. I don't feel 100% this morning - chilled for some reason - so I hope that I am able to do that and not becoming ill. I do not have time for that!

LG, how is your recovery going?

Good evening Seesters. It sounds like all are having a lot of fun.

Tammy, glad your DD is doing well and is home. It is a good thing. She will have a hard night or two but should be much better after that. Will be tender along the top incision for a while. It is in a tender spot but the others shouldn't bother her. Bloating is a bigger deal. She will feel quite bloated for a day or so but should improve a lot after that.

Birthday dinner should never involve guilt even if it is higher sodium and not as healthy as normal fare. Enjoy and move on.

Becky, hope shopping was fun.

Weezie2, your mother can still knit? That is wonderful. I'm sure she needs a bit of direction, but how nice that you are patient enough to help her. Hope you found your sewing room today.

PJ, short is nice for travel. I'm glad you are able to do that. I'm sorry your father's BIL passed. It is too hard to live at home after that. I'm sorry the kids have so much to do. It is a lot of work and you know probably better than they do how much it is.

I like your simplicity as you prepare for the kids to come over. What fun for you to have such a nice bigger family.

Watching kids tonight so parents can go to a Christmas concert. It would have been nice to have a little warning, but it is what it is. They aren't a lot of work for sure. Perhaps I'll be able to get some things done tomorrow.

Tomorrow is graduation from college for youngest child. At that point all of my children will have a BS or more. He will start in 3 weeks in a Master's program so it will be 4 with a master's or better. It is interesting considering I attended only 2 years of college and my father didn't graduate from high school. I have a Kitchenaid mixer for him. Mom got every college graduate one and I promised this one that I'd get one in her name. Found a killer deal so he is getting it. I'm sure his wife will enjoy it a lot.

I got my hair cut yesterday a really short cut but now Iím set for Texas. (Karen I hope you will get to see it next week). DH didnít say a word so that means he doesnít care for it. But that is ok it will be easier for me to take care of and keep shampooed while we are in the trailer. Not sure if I told you we did get the trailer back and fixed. Yea

I have been busy this morning making the noodles and 1 batch of cookies. All for our Christmas dinner on Sunday. The noodles will go into the freezer until Sunday morning.

Got a call last night that dadís sisters husband passed away in his sleep. This is another sister with Alzeihemers so she will need to be put in a home now that he is not there to take care of her. So sad and the kids and step kids have lots of things to sort out both financially and just stuff in their house. I will drop down and tell dad tomorrow when I get out. Get to have my mammogram done tomorrow.

My canned (blow up soup) was ok the veggies were way overcooked and mushy. I think I will take them to Texas and use them in the blender and drink like a smoothy maybe adding some fruit too.

We are having potato soup tonight and probably stew tomorrow night. Trying to keep things simple with trying to get things done for our Christmas gathering on Sunday and making stacks for the trailer (preparing to go south)

Tammy kids will be about 15 miles away it seems all the family lives about that far away just different directions.

LG 3 doctors in 3 hours not any fun. Pulling out those pins doesnít sound like fun either. Hope your hand gets to feeling better each day. Glad to hear you and Leslie walked she probably missed you anyway.

WG got my fingers crossed that the counter offer will be accepted. That would be a nice Christmas present to have the house sold (or at least in the works). That was a whopping big raise. Canít buy much with that extra money.

Tammy I bet your exam grading and walking of course will keep you busy enough while you wait. Sounds like DD is doing good with her schooling and grades.

Sharon Iím better off not eating any sweets too but I donít usually mange to stay away when it is special things. Although I do try and limit myself to only indulging if they are home made and NO to convenience store sweets any more at all.

Weez 2 I hear that sewing room calling your name. Do hope you made it there and also can get mom interested in knitting a small project.

Weez I guess that's why they say we have kids when we are young so we can have the energy to keep up with them. I see on fb that Jackson is now using a fork to eat. I sure hope they come on Sunday so we can see him again before we leave.

I go by the name of PJ and live north of KC, MO. Winter in East Texas.

Onward and Downward

Its always too soon to quit.

It may take me longer to get to my goal than my original plan but I will get there.

Happy Thursday!

I actually have a day to call my own. I'm hoping to get my decorating finished and get to my sewing room. I'll be off later to visit mom. I'm hoping to get her interested in knitting with me at night. I have a pattern for baby mittens that would be so quick and easy for her to finish.

emoticon °°Feliz cumpleaŮos, Tammy!! And I hope your DD's surgery goes well....and that she's out of recovery before you even finish grading your exams!!!

LG, I got a good laugh out of your doctor "hearing" it if the pin hurts when it's removed!! A good friend of mine broke her ankle in two places when she slipped and fell while we were hiking down a mountain in April. She had to have surgery and two pins were placed in her ankle (they took one out but the other will stay in). She dreaded the removal of the pin for months....and said she really didn't feel a thing. I hope it's the same for you.

WG, in Costa Rica the government mandates a percentage that private companies have to raise their employee's salaries twice a year. It sounds like someone should "mandate" your employer's raises. emoticon

Sharon, I'm like you....it's easier for me not to indulge in goodies at all. I have a really hard time just eating one portion....or part of one. I'd love to reach the point where I can do that.

It's STILL raining. We are going down to Alajuela to do some shopping this morning so maybe we'll actually get to see the sun again when we get down out of the mountains.

Have a great Thursday everyone!!! emoticon

Hi, Seesters!

Thanks for the birthday wishes, girlfriends. emoticon It was a very good day. Most of my gifts were quilt-related and/or I shall buy things with the gift cards that are quilt-related! emoticon DS gave me an awesome book with quilting patterns - it shall be wonderful when my BF and I have our quilting bee in place in a year for doing hand quilting. Our dinner out last night was awesome, and the complimentary piece of cheesecake with raspberry drizzle was delicious, and I do not regret it a bit. The sodium in the meal is another matter, though. emoticon

DD's gallbladder surgery is scheduled for this morning, so I do hope that it is indeed this morning. I saw a FB Messenger note that she hadn't slept and that was about 3 a.m. She got her results from one of her classes - an A - but it was the other two that she was worried about - statistics and pathophysiology. That last one is even hard to spell! LOL I do appreciate your kind thoughts/prayers over the past couple of weeks of this ordeal.

I shall be at the hospital until she is released of course. I don't think the actual procedure will take that long. The crockpot will come in handy as far as my self-appointed job of meal prep at home is concerned. I am probably going to take final exams to grade while waiting - only 12 students in yesterday's class took them, so that ought be the right amount of time to grade them. I probably won't need to take the crocheting I am going to take also, but it shall be ready in case I need something to keep me occupied/less stressed. I really am NOT a good person when others' pain is involved, but I try to hide it for the most part.

WG, 5 cents an hour! emoticon Hope it doesn't put you just over into another tax bracket as well! emoticon

Evening All. I'm home and tired. It was a good day, sort of. I get a 5 cent an hour raise for my work this year. Woopee!!!

SS, I hope you found a way to avoid the treats as much as possible. It does feel better to eat the healthier foods. Just not always as fun.

Tammy, Happy Birthday. May all your gifts be wrapped in Birthday Paper. Weezie always knows when our birthdays are. She is magical.

LG, pins are a little creepy. Glad things are going well and you are starting PT. Leslie is fun and it is good that you are moving again.

Got another offer on the house. One of the families I showed the house to on Monday came through with an offer today. They sold their 3 year old home and want to move into this 56 year old home. It is nice and in a nice little valley/town. We are sending back a counter offer.

Off to bed soon. Working tomorrow. Youngest graduates from college on Friday. It is a nice thing this year.

Have a nice night all.

I hate the fact that I'm not able to post more. Hand just doesn't like being over worked! Did go back to the surgeon and had the original bandages removed. Got to see the pins that are sticking out of my thumb! emoticon I asked how those would be removed and he said "I'll pull them out in 2 weeks!" He said I wouldn't feel it! If I do, he's going to hear me!!! Then had to go to PT and they "built" a splint for it. Then to x-ray. In all I was at the drs over 3 hours. I was so tired of sitting!!

Goy up this morning and did a 45 min. Leslie DVD. Felt good. Then treated myself to a pedicure!! Feel like a queen!!

emoticon to all!!! emoticon Tammy!

Good Morning! I actually survived my bad day of eating and the scale was even down a little this morning. However, I felt like crap all day yesterday. I definitely know with my diabetes, I need to eat less sugar and fat! Today I'm back to eating properly and hoping to feel better!

Tammy - good suggestion. I'm better off not to even take a piece as I would eat it all. I have no self control to stop with just a bite or two. Happy Birthday to you!

Weezie - enjoy all the babysitting but it is hard on us the older we get.

PJ - How fun that DS & DIL feel comfortable enough with you to call on a whim to meet for lunch! It sounds like you are developing a good relationship with the future DIL. I'm so glad you gave them a chance and are happy with where they are at now in their relationship.

LG - I hope today finds you feeling better. Good thing you did things ahead of time so you could relax and recover from the surgery.

Hi, Seesters!

Weezie, how did that little birdie tell you about my birthday? Do you keep a list of team member's birthdays, or does Sparkpeople alert you, or what? I am asking because of the team that I help to lead - Springfield, MO- and I wouldn't know such things unless I went to individual members' pages, I don't think.

SS, your cheesecake - it reminded me that a lot of times in the past when eating out, I would automatically order onion rings with a burger. I stopped doing that when I started Sparkpeople, but I did do was have one or two of Joe's. That satisfied me. So perhaps when such as cheesecake is involved, you can have a bit or two and Norm can eat the rest...??? or just half a piece. I read a Prevention article yesterday that recommended half of holiday treats, in a moderate amount, of course. I don't know that that would work for me on a daily basis, but it seems a good way to navigate the "extra" "food" opportunities during the holidays.

PJ, it does seem like you are going to have a gem of a new DIL. Does your son live fairly close to the two of you? I like their wedding plans as well.

LG, Weezie2, WG, Carol, JO...anyone else I "forgot" - have a very good day!

Went to Zumba this morning and did some errands then ended up meeting DS and fiancť for lunch at Golden Corral (spur of the moment) It was a wonderful time to talk since the kids werenít there. Very positive and I got a lot of questions answered as well as giving some advice after they asked me for it. I really really like his fiancť and yes her family accepted DS without hesitation. They plan to be moved into his house so the boys can start school there next year.
Talk about a good incentive to get his house in shape that will do it.

We are trying some of the home canned veggie soup I made this summer (the blowup all over the kitchen) soup. Sure hope it is good.

I had a lovely Christmas card from my brothers old neighbor. A wonderful surprise so I quickly sent one back with a nice note to her.

Have a nice evening.

A quick emoticon this morning as I have to go get ready for our GTO (Girls Time Out) Brunch this morning! I have no idea what will be served so I hope it's compatible with my diet! This afternoon we have been invited to our neighbors for a piece of cheesecake to celebrate his birthday. I KNOW that isn't diet food so I'll go and try to get out of eating the cheesecake!

Have a great day!

Yes, I will indeed be done for the semester after grading the finals taken this week [Wednesday and Friday for my schedule]. Thursday morning will be spent at the hospital, and I have thoughts of doing some walking - gotta get those steps in - and taking a crocheted infinity scarf pattern that I saved yesterday along with a crochet hook and some soft yarn. I think that would be a good way to pass the time and not talk the BF's ear off. Hopefully all will go well, and I do thank you for your prayers for her over this recent ordeal. I believe she begins to take her three finals today; that will last through tomorrow I believe, and she was feeling somewhat better yesterday so perhaps all will go well there. As I said, she is admitted to the nursing school regardless and already registered for spring...

I am looking forward to a good day here - piano lessons, a trip to Bass Pro to check out a pair of boots they had advertised, and some other little "fun" things...kind of a nice interlude before the rest of the hectic week. And yes, that little birdie was right, Weezie - tomorrow is the day. I give a final from 1 - 2:50 and then in the evening, DH and I will go out to dinner to celebrate. It shall be at The Outback, which we don't normally do, and yet a gift card from earlier will help the celebration be that much more fun! emoticon That is by MY choice, so it is okay....

WG, those doll beds sound like such fun!

Hi All

Just popping in as I got one of my projects completed tonight. This was the runner I made so I can have all of their stockings hanging. Ended up making casings on each side, we will put a piece of wood on each side and on one I added stabilizer and made small button holds all along the one side so we can add some hooks through them into the wood. We have some hefty weights that will hold the top on and I think DH is planning to anchor just in case. Kason is 18 months and a big boy so we'll see how it goes.

Tomorrow I get Ava for the night so little will be done plus I have class to attend in the evening. It will be Wednesday before I can finish up wrapping I think. I have all of the stocking stuffers wrapped and packed in except one. Then I have the other gifts for the little ones to wrap. Getting there slowly but surely. I also need to get to my cards. I don't send a ton so shouldn't be too time consuming. I've only gotten two thus far which is unusual so I guess others haven't gotten to it either.

Drove home in rain mixed with snow today. What a dreary sight. I think we have some snow in the forecast tomorrow but not much to speak of. I think I'm more concerned about ice in the morning.

The boss has been out of town and is gone again tomorrow. Her son is interviewing for Med school in Iowa so it was a nice day and get another tomorrow. Actually felt like I got some stuff done so that was nice.

PJ, you've been busy but how nice of you to make home made gifts. My sister is doing that this year as well but she retired a few months back and enjoying every minute. She can't figure out how she ever got anything done when she worked FT. LOL

SS, glad you are enjoying the temps in AZ and I always get a twinge when you comment about missing the family time at Xmas. I know that time will come as well. Nothing stays the same it seems.

LG, hope you're recovering well and I know you were busy today. Glad you're feeling better and off those darned meds.

WG, glad you got to enjoy the grands. I always enjoy the stories you share about them all. I'm with PJ, did you get your house all back in order? How'd the showing of mom's house go?

Tammy, I'm sure you're ready for break and a little birdie told me you will be celebrating a birthday in a couple of days. Hope you get to enjoy YOUR day!

Okay ladies, I'm tired and need to get around for bed so I'll sign off for now. Do wish you all a wonderful rest of your evening and a great Tuesday!

Managed to get some more head scarves made for gifts. Chopped some pecans for cookies and salad to be made later in the week. Donít want those cookies too far ahead of time because someone I know would be into them. (ME) I also bought some flavored teas to see if that will satisfy me without the calories of the capachino that I have been drinking a couple of times a day.

DH just went to pick up our repaired trailer then we can start organizing it for heading south hopefully by sometime next week. Iím ready to get out of here for the winter.

Weez2 that was some birthday party with a lot of people in attendance. That was is a wonderful idea doing the book She will love it and can look at it over and over again.

Becky sorry to hear you are not enjoying belly dancing anymore. But do understand that would be a reason to leave now you just need to find something else new to learn. I hope you can find something else active to take the place of belly dancing.

Weez no snow here and I hope we get out of town before any storms come. It sounds like it is going to be in the upper 40s here for the next week. I love looking at the snow but that is all.

WG yes we are part of the small group attending the wedding. Not sure who else will be there besides DS fiancť and the 2 boys. Also sorry to here you had an issue with a hospice worker was it a volunteer. What happened. Doesnít matter they should not have been creating any issues no matter what they were. I bet your DS is excited about his first day on the new job. Glad you could watch the little ones. Is this some new prospects looking at your moms house. My fingers are crossed that you get it sold this time. BTW did you get your house put all back together. A 3 foot tree would work too. Donít get worked up over anything. It isnít worth the stress.

Tammy I am hoping that DDs work issues will be a blessing in disguise. This is a stressful week for you but I pray all will go smoothly for DD and you. So you will be done with school after this week for the semester?

Sharon I got most of my cards out last week may still do a few more. Tony did not get a deer and I really havenít had a chance to talk to him to see what he thinks of his new foot. We should get a few minutes to talk when everyone is here Sunday for our Christmas.
As far as Chris goes didnít get much of a chance to talk to them. I am going to try and get some time this week to get with the two of them when the little ones arenít around so we can talk grown up stuff and I can get all the scoop on the trip etc. He is happier than I have ever seen him before.

Good afternoon. I had a half written response and somehow closed all the tabs and lost everything. It happens sometimes. Of course, I was busy so I had to come back and finish later.

Have the boys (Gunslinger and Enterprise) today. Their dad has his first day on his new job. They came before 7 this morning and will go home, hopefully by 4 pm as I'm showing Mom's house twice tonight.

My DD and DIL who have been producing and pumping tons of breast milk cleaned out their freezers and gave the extra milk to their SILs for the smallest of the new babies. Enterprise is a "failure to thrive" as he hasn't been getting enough calories. My son has been monitoring the calories and adding a supplemental formula to the breast milk. They received the milk from the youngest grand who is 2 weeks younger and weighs almost twice as much! Enterprise has never had Guernsey milk before and he loves it. Tons of cream and calories. I'm surprised the kids did this on their own and are willing to share.

Tammy, hope finals week is very uneventful and everything goes as you have "scripted" and hope. I know your DD will find the thing that works for her in her nursing. Networking is a great thing to do. I know a lot of our girls work in other facilities together and enjoy each other in other ways. Care facilities are hard work and they are quite demanding. They pay well for LPNs and it is hard to find challenging clinical work in other places. Knowing what she doesn't tolerate helps so she will not get those medications after surgery. It is an outpatient procedure, possibly even with the second procedure) and if she can get through the recovery time, she can go home and take NSAID medications that normally don't have the problems the narcotics have.

SS, you do more eating out when you are in AZ. I don't know how to make it better unless you ask for no salt added when you order. Even taking your own salad dressing might be a possibility. I find that a lot of the meats are pre-processed so they cook up faster and they have a lot of sodium. I tend to do higher carb when I eat out and that adds to my water retention as well. Enjoy the walking and other physical activities while you are their. How are the bikes this year?

Got to go. Have some doll bed kits to sew together. I'm hoping the girls enjoy them and they can keep their doll clothes and brushes in them. It doesn't always work out, but at least I'm trying.

I still don't have my tree up and it's a little frustrating. I'll work on it this week as if it isn't up by the weekend, I'm inclined to find my 3 foot tree and put it up.

Have a great day.

Good Morning!
I consider this the start of my new week. Lots to get accomplished! I am hoping to get my Christmas cards ready to mail today. I found the perfect card that says Greetings from Arizona!

Tammy - we are all praying for your DD so hopefully all her decisions will be God driven. Let go and let God as they say.

WG - that darn sodium is in all restaurant foods it seems. We stopped at a Denny's yesterday while we were out and I had the Chicken Sandwich with Fit Fare Fresh Veggies. It was delicious and the chicken was on a whole wheat bun and all for 490 calories. Sounds good but the sodium was over my entire days allowance! Needless to say, my weekend was high in sodium!

Weezie - smart idea to get the cookie dough made ahead of time! I'm sure it will come in handy for the next few busy weeks. Your Christmas with the kids next weekend will be fun. I miss the days of celebrating with little ones.

Becky - thanks again about the added info on cooking the plantains. When I go back to the store this week, I hope they are still there so I can purchase some and try them. I am sorry also that you are considering leaving the belly dancing as it was fun reading about it but if you are losing interest I understand. Perhaps your new interest will be fun reading about as well although I don't have any suggestions.

Weezie2 - it sounds like your mom's birthday party was quite the success. I remember the 80 birthday party we surprised my dad with. He was so surprised and cried. It means so much to them in their later years. We still love the pictures we took so the scrapbook your sister is making will be treasured by your mom.

PJ - you had a nice day with your DS and future family. I love hearing about him through your posts. This must be the happiest time for him. I hope her family took to him as well as you have accepted her and the kids. Oct. 5th will come quickly and they have more they want to do with the house before it happens if I remember correctly. I keep forgetting to ask but how did Tony do hunting this fall. Did he get his deer?

Good morning, Seesters!

This is the start of what I hope is a "less stress as possible" week - finals week and hopefully DD's surgery! Her fever broke, but understandable digestive issues...and she is concerned enough about her job that she applied two other places, but one has the 12 hour shifts she thinks she needs with nursing school, so it might be a blessing in disguise if she does indeed need to find another. That particular job came highly recommended from a couple of fellow students of her LPN program. I guess everyone talks about different locations as much as educators do! LOL! As for it being finals, I shall just be glad that it isn't the wintry weather that made it such a mess last year.

Have a very good day! The sun is supposed to shine sometime this week, so I shall be happy about that as well.

My name is Tammy and I live in SW Missouri.

Good evening. Today was much better than yesterday. I got about 7 hours of sleep which was nice but I still didn't want to get up. It's just too early. LG, I know you like early mornings but but I'm not that into it.

Weezie2, it sounds like a great party. What a wonderful thing to do for everyone. The times you can get together diminish as our parents who hold the families together pass away. I think the pictures and memories will make a wonderful book. I'm sure you and your Mom will enjoy looking at it and remembering all the people.

LG, that is frightening! I'm glad it is a fairly easy fix. It makes it hard to feel the same about the yard for a bit, though. I'm sorry you overdid, but it gets better with time. I'm sure you are listening to your body (2 naps) and are healing as you should. I'm glad the discomfort isn't keeping you from doing things.

PJ, it sounds like a wonderful day. Are you part of the 4-6 people at the wedding? I'm glad you got to attend church. It is a wonderful thing to share and enjoy.

Becky, your lesson on plantains makes me want to get some and try it. I'm sure I'd enjoy them. I'm sorry you are giving up belly dancing. I loved your stories. What sounds like fun now? Local craft?

SS, I love Chinese but don't go often. Almost never is friendly. But it tastes so good.

It was an interesting day and not at all like yesterday. I'm glad it is done, but PJ, I was going to throttle a hospice worker if I hadn't been restrained by coworkers.

I'm off to bed. I'm watching the boys in the morning. Maybe showing the house in the afternoon. Have a great day all.

Hello all!

I see you all have been busy.

Weezie, the Xmas train sounds like such fun! Hope Kami had FUN!!

Been a busy day with church and just trying to get things done. We will do Xmas here next weekend with the kids. I made 4 batches of cookie dough so I can start making them. I don't need them for next weekend but now I can take a batch and cook them up when I have an hour so I'm ready for the week of Xmas when I want them to give away. I'm also working on a runner I guess I'll call it, that we'll put a piece of wood through so we can mount hooks so I have a place to hang stockings. Shouldn't take long so hoping to knock that off tomorrow night. Tuesday is busy with having Ava overnight and getting her to school on Wednesday. I sure don't miss those days of having to do this. On occasion but golly, clearly must be YOUNG to manage all of these things with little ones. Trying to keep the rest of my evenings open so I can get my 'to do' list done and not feel overwhelmed. I know it will be fine but of course I gotta make myself nuttier in the meantime.

So do any of you have snow? I'm hoping we have for Xmas but otherwise I'm quite content not to have to deal with it. We may get rain/snow mix tomorrow so we'll see.

I need to scoot and get a couple of things done before turning in but wanted to drop by and let you know I was still kicking out here.

Take care and I'll check back tomorrow.

WG, with your stressful job it must be hard to work when you have had so little sleep. I agree with Tammy....the sandwich sounds really good. I love eggplant sandwiches....but rarely make them (and less now that I have no bread for a sandwich emoticon ).

PJ, I love sweet potatoes, too. I saw a recipe for a sweet potato stuffed with black beans one time that sounded excellent. I should go back and look for it.

Pat, I hope the sinkhole is far from your house and easy to fix. We saw one on the news last year where almost an entire Disney apartment/hotel disappeared in a sinkhole. Luckily everyone got out.

Tammy, I still get very excited at the beginning of each semester, too, so I guess I need to keep teaching for awhile. I like your way of measuring when to quit.

PJ, if you buy green plantains, you will have to fry them in strips. If you find ripe ones, you can put them in the oven. All you have to do is cut off the ends then slit the peel (lengthwise) and peel them. Slit the plantains lengthwise (but not all the way through) so you can pull them open and put them in a pyrex. In the slit you dab some butter (or oil) and sprinkle with grated white cheese. You bake them at 325 - 350 until soft. Be careful, they are extremely addictive. We peel and slice the green plantain and put them in stew, too.

I think I am going to leave the belly dance group. We dance a couple of weeks ago and again this afternoon, but I just don't get excited about it anymore. I need to find another hobby. Any suggestions?

Mom's birthday party was last night. There were over 60 of us there. I saw lots of nieces and nephews that I haven't seen it quite some time. My cousin brought her dad who is mom's last remaining sibling. I know my youngest sister took lots of pictures to make mom a book to remember her special day. She had lots of scrapbook paper to write mom a note too. I'm looking forward to seeing her book finished.

I had a pretty laid back kind of day. Started out going to church this morning with Kelly , then shopping at Target. No Packer game today..they play tomorrow night.

I'll be leaving soon to pick up my son from work so we can catch up with Kami and her mom. The Christmas train arrives tonight complete with a live rock and roll band and Santa. The train is all decked out in Christmas lights and along its stops they collect food for the local food pantries. I always make sure I have a few things for Kami to donate.

Have a Great Sunday!

LG that is scary. I hope you really donít have any damage and that the sinkholes can be fixed by just filling them in with rock and dirt. You need to take it easy and not overdue.

Tammy glad DD is feeling a bit better. What a nice tradition you and DIL have started. Sounds like a good time whether you buy anything or not.

Had a nice day going to church with my youngest DS and future family then out for a burger. Then it was back to our house for them to give us the souvenirs they brought us from their trip. We stopped at Walmart but the lot was so full we all decided there was nothing we needed today. So I will make that trip this week when it is less crowded.

The kids did tell us they had set their wedding date for October 5, 2015 On a Monday just about 4-6 people attending then a reception/party the next weekend.
