Hi Seesters. Home from work and settling down. Slept 2 hours last night so I'm beat. DS has the kids here (the first three) for some time together. He loves spending time with the kids and DIL thinks she is "controlling" him by making him come home to be with the children. She wants him to stay and holds the children as a carrot... or a threat. He loves the time so it isn't a big deal.

I'm thinking through things I'll need to do to get ready for the kids to be here and to make the house a home for them. DS is thinking also. The religious leader told him to "draw a line and give a deadline then follow through" for her to do the things that will help save the marriage.

I'm thinking some themed quilts for the children. Perhaps a very girly quilt for the girl and Batman for the younger boy. The older boy is into Minecraft so I found a quilt on Pinterest and might be able to pull it off with some 2 x 2 squares and the iron on backing. I'll have to have some bigger squares in the quilt as I'm not inclined to do this for an entire quilt, but it is a fun idea. Just thinking.

Weezie, have fun. Sorry the city rolls up its sidewalks early. Enjoy a safe day tomorrow and a good trip back.

PJ, so glad the hospice patient is done with the struggle and the kids can move forward. I'm sure your son is relieved as well as the complications in getting together are lessening. Has he set a new date? So sorry about the dental work. The pain after cleaning is one of the reasons I really hate the dentist.

SS, loved your tales about the earthquake. Low carb does work well. I found it not sustainable for me in my life so I do lower carb but not as restrictive.

Gotta go to bed. It is Enterprise's birthday tomorrow and I'm watching him. We've got to make a run to Sam's for some essentials I didn't have time for on Saturday. I'm bushed. 'Night all..

emoticon from Traverse City!!

Our trip here yesterday was good. 80 degrees too! Today started with rain but cleared up and warmed up but not as warm as yesterday. We got out after my day and found a steak house for dinner I had been to many years ago. DH was pleased so it was nice. Wanted to walk around town but it closes up early so nothing was open. Oh well, I guess I saved myself a few $$.

Tomorrow will do the same as today and likely skip the last short class of the day. I got what I came for this morning so, I will do most but not all. I'm so bad! Wednesday, I plan to be done by 10 so we can pack up and head back home. SO much to do of course so it will be good to get home earlier than later.

Do hope you all are well and I'll check back soon!! emoticon

Dental appointment today for DH and I. We both go back on Thursday for further work. He is getting a couple of crowns and I am having several old fillings replaced. UGH My mouth hurts from today and it was just a cleaning and checkup.

Sharon yes this was fiancť FIL (her deceased husband's father) she has been caring for.

Just got home a short while ago from Carmen's games. They lost the first and won the second. And I remembered my butt cushion.

PJ, I understand about the bathing. I wasn't all that comfortable helping my mom. She also acted "strange" about it. My mom told me many times that I was "bossy". I told her that I learned it from her!! Sorry about the death in your son's fiancť's family.

Tammy, so sorry about your DS's family death also. It is very hard to have some one die but a young person is very hard. Last summer my cousin's son died from alcohol also. He just couldn't stay away from it. Ruined his liver. Very sad indeed.

SS, I was looking at my nutrition tracker and the carbs. Not sure that I can cut too much. With the Crohn's it is very difficult. I really need to cut my portions back some. I know that I can do that and lose but that is hard too! EKKKK!!

WG, I have your DS on my prayer list. I'm sure that all will work out for him. Glad that he is receiving spiritual advice also.

Just came in from washing the car so now it will rain for sure. Donít wash it often because on a gravel road it is dirty again before I ever get out of the driveway.

Long day yesterday. Took dads clean clothes back to him and made him change into clean ones then I brought home what he was wearing. He wasnít too happy about my being so ďBossyĒ but he didnít stay mad long. I have resigned myself to the fact that he just wonít be looking as neat as he has all the previous years but I will try and find where he is hiding dirty clothes (if he is changing clothes) and bring them home each week. No I am not comfortable with helping dad bathe. Things (at least for me) are different when you are dealing with a parent of the opposite sex.

The family (sonís fiancť) hospice patient passed about midnight last night so he did not get baptized today. They also had a birthday party for the 7 year old yesterday. So it was a busy day. I am going to see what day they want me to cater a meal to them and take it to the house. It will be a simple casserole dish and a couple of salads.

WG I am so sorry to hear of DS troubles. At some point it sounds like he will just have to decide that the marriage (with her issues and infidelity) just wonít work. Iím glad you have the room and can accommodate him/them for a while. Iíll keep them in my prayers. Iím glad to hear he is getting spiritual counseling before making a final decision. At least your marriage and ex brought about good things in your grown up children.

Sharon you are still losing. The incredible shrinking woman. WTG I ate a burger with bun, chips and birthday cake yesterday. And I havenít felt well all day that was just way too much of things I havenít been eating. Why I do that to myself is beyond me I know I will feel sickly later. You would think at my age I would have learned by now.

LG glad you found some time for your sewing between games etc. You donít ever stop. Everyready bunny you are.

Tammy glad you were able to get some talking in with the women that have some experience while you walked.

I am now knitting ankle socks using up leftover yarn from other taller socks. But no fear I have plenty of stashed yarn to make tall socks after I get the leftovers done. emoticon

Thanks for all the compliments on my bag.

It is certainly a leap of faith to meet up with others we've only meet online. I'm certainly glad I took that leap with this team. How many are planning on Shipsee this year? I'm still trying to get a few projects finished so I don't feel too guilty shopping at Lolly's this year. emoticon

Today is already warming up to be a repeat of yesterday. I plan on digging my capris out too.

Claire continues to amaze me. She's already rolling over from her back to her stomach. She's quick so changing her diaper takes on a whole new sense of urgency.

Have a Great Sunday!

Good morning. I'm up early getting ready for church which starts at 9. I tend to be perpetually late so I'm hoping to be there early.

DS has tried to get her to be compliant with his 3 requests, medication, counseling and breaking contact with the other party several times. He has a meeting with our religious leader this afternoon. They have been meeting during this entire challenge.and he has had some good input. DS and I talked about his needing to be sure of his decision and needing spiritual confirmation that it is a good choice before carrying out any actions. He has been miserable for years and she does treat him badly in front of the children and bad mouths him behind his back.

He will do the right thing and since he is an attorney, he will find counsel to help him navigate the waters and protect his rights and the safety of his children. The best she can hope for is joint custody and she may not get that.

He loves his children and he loves her. It has broken his heart to have her betray him in this way.

It is the ultimate betrayal in our family as his father was unfaithful and it caused no end to pain for all of the children. He was also abusive.

Interestingly, the children have made a decision not to follow in their father's footsteps in ANY way. They will put themselves in time out rather than lash out at anything. It is amazing how this decision has enriched their lives.

Tammy, glad you got some perspective. The meeting was still a good one if you all got to know each other. I know we have a strong group that is very social. That first trip to Shipsee was magical for the team. Many of you live close enough to see each other at times and it is wonderful to be able to do that. The RV team is close in that way as well.

SS, I wore capris yesterday as well. Will wear them again today. I'm happy doing that and do enjoy spring.

Have a great day. Gotta scoot and get ready for church.

Good Morning!

LG - low carb is the best for my body and I always do well but I'm sitting here trying to decide what to eat for breakfast and my choices are so limited that I'm thinking of breaking down and eating a carb! Maybe a hard boiled egg - I can still tolerate them somewhat. The bigger problem is I should eat a vegetable with the egg and again, the choices are limited. Oh well, I better decide as my stomach is growling.

WG - any news on the prickly DIL. Does she want the marriage to work? When my DS was in counseling during his marriage separation, he was told both partners have to want to make it work or he might just as well walk away. I'm praying for the kids sake that she is willing to go to counseling.

Tammy - sorry for the death in the family. It is so sad to lose someone so young to alcohol. I'm also sorry for the poor attendance yesterday. I read in the leader's forum that a lot of teams have trouble getting members to meet or even post so that's why I appreciate the last few years that we have good attendance for both our Shipshewana group here and the get togethers with the RV team.

We're supposed to get the 80 degree weather today that Weezie2 had yesterday. I put capri's on today in good faith! Our rain is moving in after dark tonight.

Hi, Seesters!

PJ, love the bag!

WG, it is so hard to see our children/grandchildren in pain, isn't it? How long will he hold out hope for her to be compliant? I am so glad that you have the room and can accomodate them.

Yesterday began with an early morning text from my DS in FL - her BIL had passed away from alcohol-related circumstances; we had met him, a quite congenial young man - early 40s at the oldest. His parents had had him in and out of rehab for years, and when he was not drinking, he was a quite good attorney. DS and BIL got the call to come to the hospital, which is 10 minutes away, and he had passed before they got there.

I went to a Spark Rally yesterday with the leaders of the Springfield, MO team - anyone on the team was invited, and numerous reminders were sent, but only the team leaders made it. It was still a nice day. The other two leaders work/worked in the medical field and have first hand knowledge of mental health issues both jobwise and familywise , so I kind of got some perspective on the recent DD challenge. I liked that I could talk to someone outside our own situation and then could just concentrate on other things then when I got home.

Have a good day, friends! I am going to go get in some sewing time before breakfast!

WG, my heart goes out to your DS. This is pretty tough to deal with. I'm sure that if she is having "issues" with an affair and meds, she probably isn't going to give it up. I hope that he can find peace. I also feel like Sharon that the courts won't look too kindly about the issues of her meds. I have a friend who had almost the exact same problems. He won custody (complete). She only gets them 2x per month. And the kicker is she's a teacher in our school system!!

Sharon, emoticon emoticon on your weight loss. I gained this week but only 1 lb. So I'm good. Going to cut the carbs this coming week and see if that helps me kick it into gear.

Weezie2, when mom was in assisted living, there was a gal who came in every day and helped her shower and made sure that she changed her clothes. But mom didn't have dementia. She had all her facilities right up to the end.

PJ, love that bag. I began working on my Christmas Throw again. Hope that I can get it done this coming week.

Went to Luke's game today. He played pretty good. Had an RBI and hit a good one for a double. But got thrown out at home later on. He was OK with it. I really like his coach. Seems to be a great guy.

Tomorrow is Carmen's games. Have to drive about 1 hour from here. More sitting. I'm a little tired tonight but not going to bed early. Need to get some laundry done first.

Dementia changes how people feel about clothing and other things. Familiar is so much easier. You will probably have to pay extra for the help, but someone could help him bathe and dress and then he would have clean clothes on. They would have to put the clothes in a hamper he would not get into. Couldn't leave the clothes lying around.

Just one of those things that will get worse with time.

DS is here with 3 of his children. The other one had too much fun today here so he is going with mom to a dinosaur park. She has a lot of issues.

Got to get groceries even with all the children here.

Weezie2 - you're absolutely right about elderly parents. It might be easier to bath and dress your mom. That is not something I was comfortable doing with my father though.

WG - my heart is heavy for your DS and what he is dealing with. I give him a lot of credit and respect for trying to keep the family together. If she's been having infidelity issues, not taking her meds with a doctors diagnosis, she may end up having to give up custody of the kids to your DS. Tell me again how many children they have. At least they are comfortable in your home when he has them. Take care and I'll keep them in my thoughts and prayers as it is a difficult time for you as well as him as it changes your lifestyle too.

You would need someone there late at night when they got their pajamas on or first thing in the morning before they got dressed in order to make sure the clothes got changed. I remember going through that with mom. I was so tired of hearing "these aren't dirty I just put them on today" when I knew she wore them at least the day before. It's challenging to say the least having older parents. My advantage was I helped her shower 2 or 3 times a week so I knew her clothes were always fresh then.

It's a beautiful 80 degree day today. I went to that sale early this morning with one of my friends. I didn't go too crazy. I even picked up a few things for my kids.

I'll be seeing Kelly later this afternoon for church.

Have a great Saturday!

Good morning Seesters. I had some "discussing" to do with DS#3 last night so I didn't get on. He is having problems with Prickly DIL, his wife. He has left her and is with me for now. He wants the marriage to work but there are infidelity issues (more than one) and she is not compliant with her meds so his life has been miserable. He has not been his happy self and I would like him to find peace. He still wants to work on the marriage and he doesn't want to leave the children with her as unstable as she is but he needs to leave for his own sanity. He hopes this is a "wake up" call and she starts taking her meds, stops playing around, and sees her shrink to help her get better.

If he does leave her, he will move in with me so half the time there will be him and the four little ones with him. I have rooms enough and can finish the family room downstairs so he can live there with relative privacy. They will still be using the kitchen and I'm sure the rest of the house, but this should help him have his own space.

This is somewhat up in the air but since I don't think the bipolar DIL will want to be compliant with her meds and has shown no sign of wanting to end the relationship, he may be staying. He is for the weekend for certain.

Rafael, the youngest grand is coming for a visit this afternoon. He has started taking steps. Now all the grands are upright. It is fun to see them all and enjoy them. I don't get much time with this one, so it will be nice to have time with him.

Weezie2, the college funds sounds like a great idea. It is a good thing for the children to have money put aside for their lives. My mom did that for all her grandchildren. They got a check every birthday for college. It was a wonderful gift when they were ready to go to school even though it wasn't all that much.

PJ, I love the bag. It looks so nice and well done. I love the longer straps as I carry my bag on my shoulder whether the strap is long enough or not.

SS, Woohoo for losing the weight. I'm glad you are back on track. I'll bet your doctor loves your progress for sure.

Got to get going. DS #4 and the baby are coming in a couple of hours and I've got cleaning and dishes to do before. I've got to clean up a bit from the kids being here all week as well.

Can I tell you, I didn't miss work at all and it was hard to go back? My knee killed me all night and while I'll have to fix that before I retire, (got a few things to do before that) I could stay home and be the grandma, mom and not need to be the nurse at all.

Tammy, hope you got more sewing time in. That kind of tired is a good one. I'm sure you will have so much fun with the garden this year. When we lived in California, they plowed the fields under every year and planted new berries. I think the season is long enough it wasn't a problem.

Have a wonderful day everyone. TB, LG, Weezie, Judy, and all, hope your day is great.

Good Morning!
My weight loss continues - this week I lost 4.5 lbs. Of course, the first 2 lbs was what I gained last week but I loss that plus another 2.5 lbs so I'm a happy lady today!

Our challenge is done today with the RV team so I'll have to keep working hard on my own.

PJ - love the bag with all the pockets! The colors are perfect for me too! I remember we had the same laundry issues with my dad towards the end. He always swore he put clean clothes on every day - NOT! Does your dad have anyone in house check on him daily? Perhaps they could make sure he changes his clothes.

Just working around the house is our agenda today but we want to be done in time to sit and watch The Kentucky Derby. Norm would really like to watch the fight on tonight but we're not going to pay the ridiculous amount for Pay Per View! I told him he can just hear the results afterwards.

Iím here made myself get out on our gravel road and take a walk. Been on the go and just wanted to stay home today. Promised myself I would do better at getting in some exercise and since Frank was doing oil change etc on my car just walked here.

I went and spent the day at dads yesterday it was his 91st birthday. Brought home his laundry. I new he had been wearing the same clothes every time I saw him for at least 3 weeks. Got to looking in his clean clothes and found dirty underwear and hankies that were folded nice and neat but had dried blood and filthy. So I brought everything home including most of the clothes in his closet to launder. Told him I wanted him in different clothes when I came back with his clean ones on Saturday morning. I donít mind doing his laundry but I donít know how to make him change and put things in the hamper. He is clean shaven everytime Iím there but I wonder if he is bathing regularly.

The hospice patient is down to days or maybe hours now. So I have been seeing the kids as much as I can to see if there is anything I can do for them.

Sharon you look marvelous.

I didnít reply to all of you but I am thinking of everyone and wishing you all a good Friday afternoon

My latest sewing project. This tote/purse has 10 pockets in total, some with zippers, some patch pockets.

Hi, Seesters!

Weezie 2, I would have ordered that jelly roll if I didn't have one with batiks that I was already using. Hmmmm...let's see if I can last the day without ordering another! emoticon

I have been grocery shopping and have done some gardening. My strawberry plants arrived yesterday ahead of schedule, and I will be planting them when it begins to cool a bit - I have waited too long today. I have also moved some more plants outside that I wintered indoors.

Getting some sewing done would make all of the above perfect...hmmmm....maybe so. I also need to get a walk in today. I shall easily get one tomorrow - I am meeting at least two other people on my Springfield, MO team for at least a walk at a park north of the metro area which I have never been to.

Have a good day! Hello to all...

Happy Friday!

it's been a fun, crazy kind of week. I got lots of paperwork sorted and working hard on shredding old documents so it can get picked up next week and out of the house for good. It's fun enough keeping track of your own stuff but it compounds quickly being responsible for someone else's.

I'm going to set up college funds for my girls today. I feel it's something that can't be started too quickly with how expensive school is.

For those of us addicted to batik fabrics like me the Missouri Star Quilt Company's daily deal for today is a beautiful jelly roll at almost half off. I have one ordered emoticon

We have an Iris warehouse 1 day sale a few miles from my house tomorrow. It's crazy busy place with lots of really good deals on their plastic storage. Last year they started early because they had so many people lined up. I'm tag teaming with a friend. I must be just a little crazy to do this but we won't go there right emoticon

Have a Great weekend!

Weezie: It's Friday eve ... emoticon

Tammy: Lolly's is awesome. I wish I could go back this year ... I'm green with envy.

WG: The insurance company decided to repair my damaged car. The difference between value and cost to repair was less than $500 but the damage - extensive as it was - was all superficial so that's what they chose. It was a close call, though, and it took them almost 2 weeks to decide.

Red's puncture wound is healing well although he appears to be exhibiting what might be early signs of ulcers. Ulcers are very common in horses (70% will experience them at some point in their lives) especially following a course of Bute - the heavy duty painkiller he was on for a few days - and antibiotics. I have started him on a 14 day course of probiotics; they won't do him any harm and if they can re-establish healthy bacteria in his digestive system they could do a lot of good. I'm hoping to pre-empt another vet call, aside from his annual vaccinations and dental assessment, both of which are due soon.

Good Evening Seesters!

I just got back from a walk around our park to get my 10,000+ steps in for the day. It's not so terribly cold but it is windy and that froze my ears!

LG - I gained 2 lbs last week but I've been good with both my eating and exercise since we returned. I've got the 2 lbs off and hopefully more by Sat WI. I posted pics in my challenge thread so I'll give you a peak of how I look today!

I have not heard of Advocare but you can bet I'll avoid it. I found less eating and moving more is the safest way to lose weight.

Hello all!! emoticon

Just wanted to pop in before hitting the shower. I had to do some dreadmill tonight as I couldn't get the gumption this morning. Improving in many ways so I'll keep pushing.

Tammy, love the bag!! I am a bag girl and I need to make a purse for an exchange. Now to make time to get er done. I need some sewing therapy for sure.

emoticon Here is a little birthday cake for us to share in honor of SEKSUNSHINE's birthday today. I know she is celebrating like only she can do but I think she indicated Josh was singing tonight so enjoying her birthday for sure!!! emoticon

Need to scoot. Hope you all had a great day and tomorrow is Friday already. Whoo Hoo!!!

Been to Louisville all day....we got caught in traffic coming home and took us almost 2 hrs when it should only take about 1 hr. Did do some shopping and got some real bargains.

Sharon, how are you doing with your eating since you've been home? I'm back on the wagon and hoping for a small loss this week.

Has any one on this team ever heard of Advocare? It is supposed to be a healthy way to lose weight. Rachel was drinking their "drink" that is supposed to suppress your appetite. It was working some for her. Then the other day a gal I know had an "episode" where she couldn't remember anything and was very disoriented. Her family took her to ER and it turned out to be this drink. Now I must say that she was drinking 2-3 of these per day. Rachel said she drank only 1 because it made her "pee" all day! I told her about it and she investigated it and turns out it has 120 grams of caffeine in it. WOW!! She ditched all she had and has quit drinking it. She and a friend have joined WW and I'm hoping that she sticks with it this time. Please say a prayer for her. The lady who had the "episode" is out of the hospital but still has short term memory issues.

emoticon Judy!! Hope you had a great day!!

Hi, Seesters!

Yes, I think I am going to love Lolly's, too! emoticon The picture is NOT the one I am making, but I think that would be an awesome one indeed. I want to finish my purple one tomorrow....I have been grading all day today and still need to get my steps in, so I don't think I will get anything done on it today. I think that it would be awesome in character prints as well, WG....a great idea!

As I said, I graded all day today, but am glad to have them out of the way. As soon as the school traffic is gone - it is just a bit after the dismissal time - I shall go walk. If I am lucky, the track kids will be gone to a meet instead of practicing. I usually already have my walking done, so I don't really pay attention to what is happening at the track field right by my house.

Have a very good day...

WG, love your term "toxic waste"!! That's what we used to call it! You are so good with your grandkids. I'm looking forward to this summer. We will have Luke for a whole week as the girls have basketball camp.

Tammy, love the bag! You are going to love Lolly's! First time I went in there it was overwhelming. When you plant those strawberries be sure to plant them on hills and you really should "de-blossom" them the first year so that they have a chance to put down roots. I used to grow strawberries years ago. After about 5 years you'll have to get rid of them and start new plants. At least that is what we did. What kind are you planting? Everbearing?

Weezie, glad you made it to and from Detroit and I know you are looking forward to Traverse City with Gary.

Got all my laundry done and made it to my sewing room. I didn't stay long but did get a few things done. I need to get my embroidery program on this computer and then onto my sewing machine. Then start doing the embroidery for the baby quilt.

We had beautiful weather today but this house has been cold. I still have the heat on. Mainly because it is an old house and takes a while to warm up!!

Good morning Seesters. Have Pocahontas and Sofia today as their mom is going on a field trip with the other sister. They are playing with a castle and little princess dolls so it is a quiet morning. I've got laundry started and have errands to run today after the girls go, but it should be a good day.

Tammy, Love the bag. It should be good for your fundraiser and should help the baby. I love the idea of fun fabrics. I found some fun ones on the shop hop. There is a store that specializes in children's prints and they have a lot of animals and others on the site. You might want to look on the Fabshophop site to find stores that specialize in particular fabrics. There is even one that specializes in Australian Aboriginal fabrics. They are very pretty and would be a nice project.

I found some pretty sea turtle and batiks for a pillow case for Miss Belle who suddenly loves sea turtles.

Have a wonderful day. I see some pretty brown bananas so it may be a banana bread day as well. The temperature should reach 80 today which will be nice. I can open the windows and let some fresh air in today. Love the clean smell of spring. The dog is spending a lot of time outside and hasn't escaped for a week. It is very nice to have her stay where she is supposed to.

Hi, Seesters!

I am giving the last exam prior to the final today - which means I will be grading and also that finals are about here. Next week is a review time, so there will be NO grading there. I am ready for the summer break, but will miss what I am fortunate enough to consider "extra" money.

I have used my time "watching" my students take the exam in my first class to look up some "fun" things - some kitty fabric for a fun quilt for my DD, some heart fabric to make a fund-raising quilt for a little family member with HLHS, and some essential oils info. I just got into the essential oils "thing" and a good friend of mine has had the same experience with something to supposedly help sleep problems and is as amazed as I was about a month ago, so I was researching some things about that. It has been fun while I prolong the dread of needing to grade the exams. emoticon I also am meeting with some Springfield, MO sparkfriends on Saturday, so that will be nice.

I got an email that my strawberry plants that I ordered will be delivered tomorrow. I am happy about that, but it seems so much later than when I saw them in the store, that I do hope that I get a crop next year, which would mean I can keep them alive now that the weather will be warmer.

Have a good day, Seesters!

Good evening Seesters. Had the boys today and they were all pretty needy. We did a lot of playing, holding, and cuddling.

The neighbor had a water emergency from the rain alst weekend (she was out of town.) I was able to loan her my air moving fan that my mom used in the family carpet business. It is nice that we able able to help them. They are good neighbors.

LG, hope you get caught up soon. I've got another load before Thursday to be caught up but it isn't a problem. I do need to talk to work and get a time for surgery. It is silly that I have to get the time off before scheduling it. I'll only be off a week or two, but it still has to be scheduled and we lost a few nurses recently so there is no one to do the work. It is a transient floor, so it is frequent that we have people moving on. It isn't an emergent thing, so I have to schedule around work.

SS, low carb is fun and I'm sure you will find ways to get past this. You ate out a lot in AZ and had great success. It is getting back to your pattern. Hard at times, but not impossible.

PJ, hope the potassium is back to normal. It can be elevated for a number of reasons among them is pulling too hard when drawing the blood. Drink a good amount of water the night before, but don't worry about it.

TB Sounds like a lot of fun to have a "date" with your DD. I hope Red is doing well enough to do without your excellent care for a couple of days. That is a very long drive. What kind of car did you get to replace your injured one?

Weezie, so glad you survived driving to Detroit. My DIL's sisters live in the Detroit area. Her father used to work for AMtrack so they get free rides and visit often. I don't envy you the drive for sure. Hope the rest of your week is peaceful.

Tammy, how did writing the final go? The bags sound like a good idea. I'm so glad you are helping out with the fundraiser. It has to be hard to watch your child knowing that her time is very limited and you will probably outlive her.

I'm going to catch up on some housework and clean up after the babies. They like to get their toys out and drag them around. I've also got to get the "toxic waste" out of the house.

Have a great day all.

Good afternoon ladies!!

Well made it to Detroit and back without too much difficulty. Just took a wrong exit getting out of there today but managed to find my way back without adding too much time to the trip. All-in-all, a good day.

Temps made it to 60 and sunshine. That is the BONUS!! Suppose to be cool tonight but can live with that. Tomorrow will be a quiet day at work with the boss and co-worker who are in Detroit for the next two days. I'm just looking forward to Sunday and heading for Traverse City for 3 days with DH. At least evenings we can get out and together. I'm sure he'll be doing some outings on his own for photo opportunities. I just hope it isn't too cold up there.

Gotta get some things done. Plan to go to knitting group tomorrow evening so we shall see. Lots of busy weekends ahead with soccer of course but this too shall pass quickly. Does make the summer fly by but to think we're coming into May already is crazy!!!

Sounds like everyone is busy but doing well. Good to see. Now I need to scoot. Enjoy the rest of your evening!! emoticon

I'm here a bit earlier than I've been making it. Today I've just been worn out and I've taken it easy. Thomas and I went to a place in Greensburg that have chickens that are antibiotic free and hormone free. I bought 4 chickens and put them in my freezer as they are fresh. I went to get a manicure and tomorrow I'm going to a quilt shop in Madison to pick up a ruler that I ordered and paid for some time ago. Thursday I'm going to see my sister in Louisville for the day. It is a beautiful day here with temps in the 60s. I'm trying to get all the laundry from the weekend caught up. Last load of towels are in the dryer now. Then on to sheets for the upstairs beds. Never ends!!

Sharon, sorry about your gain. I didn't lose but didn't gain either so I felt good about that. I'm back on track and plan to stay that way!!

TB, hope that you can get away for some R&R!!

Good Morning!

We have been eating at home and very low carb (for me) since returning home. BUT, today we are meeting our best friends and going to a local home style restaurant we enjoy. I don't remember their menu enough to know if they have any low carb options but they will have some type of salad if all else fails! I am determined to get off my gain from last week.

TB - I hope you get to spend time away from Red so you can enjoy the concert with your DD.

Quick post but I want to head out to our exercise room for a little bit before our friends come!

Hi, Seesters!

I changed the sewing machine needle, and re-sewed the seams that were "off" earlier in the sewing, and all seemed well. The tote bag I am working on uses In-R-Foam double-sided fusible batting and while the MSQC video uses jelly rolls, I am thinking it would be a great stash buster as well. I am now to the handle stage and hope to get that done today. I think I may make a couple to donate to a bake/craft sale that is going to be for Baby Jane's family the first Saturday in June.

Today's first order of business is going to be getting the final together so that I can get it copied next week before finals in two weeks. Then I have piano lessons this afternoon.

Have a good day!

Good evening:

Thanks, everyone, for the comments on the foal. She is so cute - and smart! She's already trying to copy her mom .. takes a mouthful of hay and then looks like "what do I do with this?"; sticks her nose in the water bucket but mostly ends up snorting and making a mess. So funny! In one way, I'm glad Penny and Matt were away because we are all pitching in to help and get to witness things we never would have under normal circumstances. We're already getting way, way too attached.

Red continues to do better and we've re-started some of his groundwork conditioning.

DD is here for the "between semesters" week. While she's here, I'm helping her put borders on, quilt, stretch, and baste her latest quilt.

She also bought tickets for the two of us to go to a concert this coming weekend (early Mother's Day/daughter gift). If Red does as well as he has been doing, I'll feel okay about leaving him for a few days. The only thing I'm not looking forward to is the travel - 7 hours to DD's home, one day to attend the concert, and another 7 hours to get back home the next day.

PJ and WG: This isn't the mare's first foal but I do think it's the first time she has delivered outside a nice, warm stall. I guess Mother Nature instills good instincts because she found the very best place to do it.

Lily: Congrats on the $$$ raised. That's impressive!

Sharon: I'm glad you made it home safely.

We're supposed to get warmer, dryer weather, starting tomorrow. I sure hope so!!!

I'm not sure how much I'll be around for the next week or so. Everything will depend on Red's condition and whether or not I feel that I can leave the area. DD spent quite a bit on the concert tickets, especially considering that's she's a student right now, and I'm hoping that I can go.

Good Evening!
While I'm watching DWTS, I thought is check in on my phone.

I had a busy day and even spent time in our exercise room. That elliptical just kills me!

TB - the pic was great! How fun to watch the whole thing so close up.

LG - I just bet you are glad the whole weekend is over. You probably won't be making any pies soon either. I'm glad it was a great weekend and a money maker.

Hello, ladies, yes I'm back from the "dead"!! But I did get up this morning and went to the gym. Then went to chapel and to SVDP to work. But came home and did some errands and laundry and a bit of "picking up". Sat down to read the paper and fell asleep and slept for an hour. Hope it doesn't mess up my sleep tonight.

We had a great weekend but I'm sure glad it is over. We kept track this year of the pies and we baked and sold right at 700. We made some big bucks!! It was a very impressive weekend with the 150th anniversary of the assignation of Lincoln. I posted some pictures on FB but still haven't figured out to get them on my computer! But I have 2 cds with pictures of the weekend so I'll try to transfer them and see if I can do a blog.

WG, glad that you are doing some knitting along with your sewing. I love sitting outside reading.

Tammy, I'm getting very anxious to work in my garden. I can see a lot that needs to be done.

Weezie, glad that you are getting away (even if you have to go to a conference). That will be nice for you. Luke opted not to play Spring soccer and I couldn't be happier. He starts baseball May 2nd. Carmen will still be playing AAU basketball. We have a very busy month of May coming up for the grandkids.

TB, that picture of the foal is so cute. Glad that Red is doing better.

PJ, you are a better person than me to do a step class. That ain't easy!! Good for you.

Went to a greenhouse today and picked up my mother's day gift from the kids. It is a concrete "statue" holding a "thing" of pink impatiens. It is so pretty! I'm working on my fairy gardens. I plan to put them in an old tree stump. I'll try to post pictures after I get it done. It'll be the end of May before I can plant the mini plants.

See y'all tomorrow.

TB I think you need to ban the owners from leaving again. The foul is a cutie. Is this a first time mom. If not she had good instincts where to have her baby. Glad to hear Red is improving also.

Tammy I did manage to get my flower bed cleaned up over the weekend and a few new perennials planted before our rain. Now I have some annuals to plant in containers as soon as I find what I want.

Weez2 enjoy your day outdoors. I just love the spring weather before the hot summer heat starts.
Hope you get your car back today.

Weez so glad that DH had perfect timing on the video for Kellanís goal. Sounds like you have been busy with work and grands. Some fun to look forward too after your hard days at work.
I havenít had the bicycle out yet and havenít even done much walking. Shame on me. But have been getting to the fitness at least 2 time a week. Plus mowing yard again. So not totally slacking off on the exercise.

WG I think you asked about Chris baptism. That is happening this Sunday. We are all happy and excited for him. Just wish his older brother would come and watch. Chris has tried to call him several times just to talk but older brother is not calling back. He doesnít realize how much that is breaking Chris heart.

DH has been busy repairing our ceilings from water leaks (popcorn ceiling) and I think he has it figured out now and you cant tell he has patched in. Even has managed to match the color. There are so many different whites that is hard to do. (He used some of my acrylic paint to mix and match and wrote down the formula so he could repeat as needed).

I just got back from a cardio step class. I think I will try a different one next time the steps are more than I can keep up with not because of the cardio but because of all the turning while getting off and on the steps. I'm not coordinated enough. The other one is more geared to strength training and easier steps.

Well now it is time for me to hopefully finish a tote/purse bag I started sewing yesterday. I'm anxious to get it done before the weekend gets here.

Good morning Seesters. It is sunny again today but cooler than it was last week. predictions are for 80's by the weekend. The rain was certainly welcome.

Didn't sew yesterday but I did so some knitting on the "ruffle" purse I'm making. Granddaughters like the concept and I've got 2 done. 3 more and the big girls are done I'll do a smaller version for the small girls but they will get one as well.

Tammy, hope you get to the machine today. I had a problem with my tension a couple of years ago and googled it. Finally rethreaded it a couple of times both top and bobbin and it has worked since. It was frustrating but it works well now.

Weezie2, hope it stays warm enough to get out and read. I have a swing on my front porch. Didn't get it put away last winter but it is sheltered so it wasn't a problem. I love sitting there on the West in the morning and listening to the birds. Have chairs on the back and it is nice even with the 8 foot fence. Still can see most of the mountain and none of the neighbors.

Weezie, have a safe trip. I love that you got pictures of the goals. Love watching the little ones play. Pocahontas scored a goal for the other team on Saturday. We still cheered for her. She is 5. Not a big deal. Love the your DIL is so great with the children. She makes wonderful memories.

TB, love the photo of the foal. Looks like it is doing well. That is one lucky baby.

SS, how is the walking going in the cold? Layers are great, but you will love it in a couple of weeks when it gets warmer.

Off to clean a bit then sew a bit. Lawn needs mowing and the neighbor boy isn't calling back yet. Gotta clear the forest.

Have a great day.

emoticon from work today ladies!!

I have to drive to Detroit after work so knew I wouldn't have computer access and this morning was scrambling around to finish packing. Eghads!!

Oh TB loved the photo of the new baby and premie to boot! Sounds like an exciting spring at the stable for sure.

SS, glad you're back and know you're getting settled. I see you are keeping me on my toes with the FitBit. I'm trying to push myself hard of course so thanks!!

Weezie, how exciting Kami helping with Claire and the date set for baptism. I'm sure you'll make the gown work for the occasion. The photos you recently shared of Claire with Great G'ma were priceless.

Had a busy weekend with the little ones. Kellan wasn't sure about playing soccer on Saturday but once there, he was all about it and even scored. It was nice my DH happened to start taking video with his camera so actually got his goals taped for them to always have. Just happened to start rolling and got lucky! Then DIL took the boys over to see the 'real' Thomas the Train in Dearborn on Sunday. I'm sure they had a blast. Kason turned 2 yesterday. Hard to believe.

WG, I'm sure you're keeping busy with the little ones as well. How are you feeling?

Tammy, are you gearing up for the end of the year? Looking forward to Shipsee?

PJ, how are you little lady? Been biking?

Okay, I guess I should try to work although my heart isn't in it today. I'm ready to be GONE!! Well, besides dreading the drive to Detroit. Once there, it will be fine but the drive stinks!

Enjoy your day ladies. I'll try to check back in on Wednesday.

I'm hoping the nicer weather we're having holds on. I finally took my lawn furniture out. It's only on my front porch for now but I'd like to be able to go out and read on it emoticon

They're finally working on my car. Parts are in and ready to go. Hopefully it will be all that needs to be done with it and I should have it back tomorrow.

I'm off to get some yard work done and give Reggie some fresh air. He loves being outside with me with all the new sights and smells.

Have a Great Monday!

Hi, Seesters!

TB, what a cute picture! Thank you.

WG, way to go on the quilts. I did not get to the sewing room yesterday; DH and I planted hydrangeas and other flowering plants. Perhaps I can get to the sewing room for a while today or tomorrow. When I was sewing on Saturday, my machine tension was "off"; I attempted to adjust, but think perhaps I just need to change the needle. I am sure that I need to do that regardless.

LG, I bet you don't want to see pie crust/pies for a bit...but I hope you raised a lot of $$$!

Good evening all. It is cold and wet here as well. I'm very appreciative as it is a drought and we need a lot of water to even make drought conditions. Water rationing this summer and it is always fun. But better than California.

Weezie2, I love that you can be so creative and make the dress work. My DIL made her daughters dress from her wedding dress. She isn't attached to things so it wasn't a problem to do it. It was fun to see a small grass stain on the inside of the dress when the children wore it.

PJ, hope church went well with your family. Was today the big day for your son?

SS, I know the weather is cool, but it isn't snowy like it was and it will be spring very soon.

Got most of the first quilt done. Need to add the side borders and it will be ready to bind. The second one should be easier as I've got a rhythm. My hands hurt, though. I'm thinking about using a larger table for the next one. Holding the quilt up was a pain.

LG, hope you are doing well. It has been a busy weekend. I'd love to see the reenactment. Hope the weather held and the sales were good.

Tammy, sewing today?

Have a great day and a Hi to everyone else. Hope the weekend has been good to you all.

Well, we've had an exciting couple of days at the stable. We arrived yesterday morning to discover ... a baby! We knew the mare was pregnant, but she wasn't due until June so the babe's arrival was completely unexpected. The poor little critter was born out in the field in the wet and freezing cold. The mom chose the best place to deliver - right in the middle of the hay bale. By the time we got there, the little filly was walking, nursing and playing.

She looks like a giraffe ... long, long skinny legs with a tiny little body on top. Cute as a button, and playful, too. The little blanket she is wearing belongs to the owners' dog; it fits her perfectly.

We have decided that the owners of the stable are not allowed to go on vacation anymore! Red hurt himself within 24 hours of them leaving, we've been having the typical early spring mud problems and now a premie!

Isn't she cute?

It was fun getting together for lunch yesterday. Kami had having fun checking out how big her little cousin was getting. She even helped hand her mom Claire's bottle. Of course Kami sat next to me and this G'ma loved it. I stopped on Friday to pick up some photos I had printed so I can bring mom Photos of her visits with Claire.

I hope to get to my sewing machine this afternoon.

Have a Great Sunday!

Brr... it's cold here this morning and overcast. I hope the weather is better for LG as this is a big weekend for them with the Civil War Reenactment. I also hope they aren't in the area that they are watching for severe weather!

Weezie2 - enjoy your family lunch today. I admire you for being able to redo Kelly's baptism gown for Claire. I'm sure it will mean a lot to everyone.

Tammy - I know you will enjoy lunch with your BF today. Choose wisely, grasshopper!

PJ - I hope the new blood work shows a better potassium level. I will be curious if it's still high, what the dr will recommend. I hope you learn a lot at your retreat today.

The rain finally stopped this morning. It's going to be a great day. My kids, their spouses and my grandbabies are all meeting up for lunch with me. It's nice when we can all do this and someone isn't sick.

I'll have church later this afternoon with Kelly and Claire. They finally have a date set for Claire's baptism. I'm not sure the gown Kelly wore will fit. I have extra lace and fabric from making her wedding gown in case it doesn't and a month to do it. Plenty of time if we need to.

Have a Great Saturday!

I'm back today, Seesters. My phone isn't updating my emails, so I find sitting here at the desk computer more conducive to "writing." LOL

SS, thanks for the picture of Torey and his daughter. That is a good reminder to pray for him.

WG, I did get back to the sewing today as well and thank you for the quilt description with the strips.

I cooked what I think is a delicious pork roast in the crock pot today. The recipe called for Pepsi, cream of mushroom, and some onion soup mix, and it is really good! It was a cool day here today, and this was just right for our supper. The leftovers will be good this weekend as well.

.

Have a good weekend! I will likely be back in the morning.

WG no unfortunately DS has gained weight back with all the stress. But I am hopeful once things calm down and they get moved they will start doing better eating and exercising.

I went to dads and spent time with him today had lunch did his checkbook balancing and meds for the week. I will go back again on Thursday as that is his 91st birthday.

Got home and Frank told me the doctor's office called and wants me in next week for another lab blood draw as the potassium level was high. He didn't think it was anything to worry about but wants another one to see if results will be different. I will get that done on Tuesday morning.

I will be out all day tomorrow leaving early. Several from the knitting group are taking 3 cars to a retreat for the day. Should be fun learning something new and hopefully finding some yarn to buy.

Have a great Saturday.

Good morning. I'm working up the nerve to get back to the quilt Pieces are cut out. The "center" is laid out on the backing and yes, Tammy, I'm doing a strippy quilt and quilting as I go. I don't normally quilt much on the minky, but this one asked for it. Doing strips of different widths and around the center fabric (dinosaurs) so it should be right but not too busy. This one and the next are my goals this week/early next week then I can move on to some other things

SS, so glad you are getting things back in order. No matter how clean you leave things, there is always something to do when you get home. I'm glad you made it safely. It is nice to have Norm back outside taking care of things.

LG, I know you won't be checking in until late if at all this weekend, but wow, that's a lot of pies. I'm glad they will go faster today with the filling thawed. Such a lot of work. I'm glad for volunteers like you. You make it possible for museums and other places to survive.

PJ, so glad the kids are using the chairs indoors. They are adorable and the kids probably need more furniture anyway. It will be interesting to know how they work things out. Is your son still losing weight?

Tammy, it sounds like such a fun day for you yesterday and sewing on top of that! What a fun day. I hope you get there again today.

Weezies, hope your day is a good one.

TB, Epsom salts do a lot of wonderful things. That's why we like to soak our feet in them. You take such good care of Red. I'm sure he appreciates your care even if it hurts. It is something he understands. We don't have to like it to understand it helps and is done with love.

Dawdled enough today. I'm off to sew. Should get one ready to bind and possibly start on the other one. Love spray adhesive. It is magic.

Sharon: I wash Red's feet and legs every day in Epsoms salts and warm water and look for any abnormalities. If there are any little scratches that could become problematic, Epsoms salts is good at cleaning them out and (hopefully) preventing any infection. His wound is on the left side of his chest, right in front of his heart.

DD is coming home for a visit. She has a week before her next semester begins. I'd better scoot ... I'm running late this morning.

Good Morning!

We got a nice restful sleep and we're ready to work today! Lots of stuff to do - inside and out! It is still cold and frost on the ground but Norm is outside working already! He's a doer, no doubt! As soon as I'm done Sparking, I'll be working too only inside where it's much warmer, lol.

Tammy - Well, I guess it's safe to say you had a FUN day yesterday!

LG - I hope you also got a nice good night's sleep but I bet you dreamed of pies all night long!

TB - so I understand about Red's feet but I'm wondering what, if anything you can do to help. Do you have to wash them every day? I never did hear where Red's wound is located but I hope it doesn't leave a scar.

PJ - how great that your dr is impressed with your good health. You work at it very hard!
We haven't heard anything about Ed since we got home but our family friend with Stage 4 Abdominal Cancer has been accepted as a patient of Dr Sugarbaker who pioneered the chemo bath surgery. He and his wife will be flying to Washington DC on Monday to meet with Dr Sugarbaker and schedule his surgery. This is answer to a lot of prayers and we continue to uplift him in prayer. He is too young and has so much to live for. This is Torey with his youngest DD.

Hello, Seesters!

Thanks for your continued prayers for Baby Jane's family.

Helping at the picnic yesterday was fun, walking the labyrinth was fun - visiting with the colleague who set it up was more fun, walking the nature trail was fun...fun, fun, fun! Plus I came home and got sewing time in...and that was FUUUUNNNNNNN! emoticon

LG, pies, pies, and more pies! What a wonderful fund raiser.

TB, may you have lots of warm, dry weather with a bit of wind to dry things out!

PJ, how nice they are going to use the chairs inside! That project was re-purposing at its finest, and you know that I do like that!

SS, I can imagine all your friends coming over to welcome you back!

WG, so you are doing a strip quilt and quilting as you go? I am semi-experimenting with jelly roll strips and making a tote bag based on a MSQC tutorial video. It is a project that would be a great stash buster as well. It seems a jelly roll would make 3 - 4 of the tote bags. [Weezie, my mondo bag is still sitting there - it seems I have a problem completing things. emoticon ]

The sewing machine awaits, the crochet hook awaits, the garden awaits...have a good day, Seesters!

Day 1 is done!! Lots done and pies are cooling. Don't know the total # of pies that we got done today but didn't get the first ones in the ovens until after 1pm. because the fruit was still frozen. Tomorrow we are starting about 6 a.m. and I told the other lady that I would only be there until 7 or 8 p.m.

Don't have time to "talk" to each of you. I won't be back until tomorrow evening.

This is a fly-by to wave emoticon

These days my life centers around the stable and Red. His puncture wound is healing well - in fact, if it continues at this rate there may be very little, if any, scarring (fingers, toes and all crossable body parts are crossed). I'm hoping and praying for warm, dry weather, now. The fields are so muddy and that's bad for horses' feet ... it has pretty much the same effect that standing in dirty water would have on ours.

Warm, sun, dry (with just a little bit of breeze) please, Mother Nature.

Just popping in to let you know we are home! It was fun to arrive as all the neighbors came over to welcome us back! Even the manager of the park and her husband came over to welcome us home. She said we were sorely missed this winter as we are so active here. That was nice to hear.

We didn't eat dinner as we ate lunch mid afternoon. So I'm going to pop us some popcorn and then I intend to take that bubble bath I've been looking forward to.

Busy couple of days again Went to see Youngest DS and family yesterday and then came home to mow my part of the yard as DH mowed his. Today it was Zumba, doctor yearly checkup and work in the flower bed before the rain gets here Again. BTW the doctor is just thrilled that I am in such good health and take no medications. He liked me so well, he wanted me to get my blood drawn, leave a urine sample and just felt like I needed stuck one more time and gave me the tentanus, pertusis booster. I may be healthy but I was ready to get out of his office.

Tammy hoping your penciled in sewing time works out. It was sad to read the post about Baby Jane on fb. I truly hope they can squeeze in many happy moments with her.

TB a call from a doctor is always scary especially when you donít expect it. Glad that is all the call was about. Glad to hear Red is mending. I can just imagine what he thinks when he sees you coming to irrigate his wound. I know you talk to him and tell him why and what you are doing and he probably does understand but that doesnít make it pleasant.

Sharon are you home yet. Still keeping DDís FIL in my prayers.

Weez I know you are tired but I also know you enjoyed that unexpected Ava time Glad you can help them out. You are going to be busy with your sewing projects and trying to watch grands sports. I hope Sara can find something that has better hours will there new area still be close to you.

LG you never change (and wouldnít want you to) I get dizzy trying to keep up with your schedule and throw in some unexpected things and you are really busy. But so nice you are close enough to help in the emergency situations.

Weez2 did Mom enjoy the Claire visit. How was lunch with your girls.

WG good news to hear about the cancer markers. Iím glad to hear it is only outpatient surgery. How long do they think you will be off of work? You need to take time off anyway but wish it was for something more fun. Will you be able to get and feel like getting some sewing projects done.

SEK so glad that the stroke didnít happen on the bus. Did you find someone to walk with on a regular basis. Will you be driving a bus this summer if not what are your plans besides working at home.

Thanks for all the compliments on the chair cushions. They like them so well they have decided they will be the kitchen chairs and not be outside at all. That makes me happy too. They have a lot to do to the little house yet but its coming along. They are concentrating on getting the boys bedroom done and wiring done for the new to them electric kitchen stove. He had a gas one before. They just havenít been able to spend much time there.

Good afternoon. Have been puttering this morning. I need to get to the quilts this afternoon. I have the pattern decided but have a small part I'm not sure how I want to deal with. Just a strip quilt except for a focus fabric in the middle. Since I'll quilt the strips as I go, I've just got to figure out how to do the strips next to the focus fabric before I get too far. I may just sew them together and quilt them from the top before going on to the next strips. It will just be about 20 inches per strip and I can do that without too much problem.

Judy, that would be so frightening for the children. I'm assuming the monitor is someone who rides on the bus but doesn't drive it. It sounds like fun to have the electric guitar. How nice to be nearly done with school

Tammy, sounds like a fun day. It sounds like a very busy day, though, unless the sewing is coming later. It is so hard to have a medically fragile child. One has to wonder what would happen if the family weren't financially strapped. Are there other things that are just not on this family's radar. I know that many children survive to adulthood, but not all. Severe heart conditions do cause a lot of other health problems. She is a beautiful child and I'm sure she is very loved. I hope her mother finds something more positive to focus on and look for the better things in her life.

LG, take care of yourself. That is such a marathon session, everyone has to be tired. I'm glad you are going home. I don't sleep that well in other places anyway. Are they baking all night as well?

PJ, I love the chair cushions. They will be so cute on the patio. You have such fun ideas for the little house. Is it in good shape for the new family?

SS, safe travels. I'm hoping you are home soon. Even cold is fun as you can be back with other friends and family. You will see summer soon.

Weezie, have a good day. Has the boss heard anything yet?

I've got to go and think very hard about the quilt. I like the idea of the design as the colors are bold and I'd like to keep the design simple. I'll do something fun Don't want things too busy.

Have a fun day everyone.

Morning!
Brrr....it's cold! Now I understand why everyone has been complaining! We did, however, wake up to beautiful blue sky and no wind so we're happy campers. Today is our last day of travel. Actually a shorter day as we should be home early afternoon. My eating has been bad while traveling the first three days. Yesterday I buckled down and ate much better! My exercise has suffered as well but I've gotten over 6,000 steps each day so it could have been worse. I'll probably get my 10,000 steps in today just running from the MH to the house and back while unloading!

LG - such a busy time for you. I'm already looking forward to a piece of pie in Shipshe. Should be another fun get together. I don't blame you for coming home to sleep. As busy as you are, you need a good night's rest.

SEK - sorry about the monitor and having a stroke! Yikes, I'm glad it wasn't on the bus as well. Hoping she has a quick and total recovery. Joshua is such a fine young man. You raised him well. Looking forward to seeing him play that electric guitar.

Tammy - my heart goes out to baby Jane and her family. From what I read on FB, it doesn't sound good for her future. I'll just keep praying as there is power in prayer! Our family friend with the Stage IV appendix cancer has been accepted as a patient by Dr. Sugarbaker so he will be flying to Washington D.C. for consultation and to schedule surgery. Dr Sugarbaker is the founder of a new surgical technique for this type of cancer so everyone is happy he has accepted Torey as a patient.

TB - CA and AZ are so dry and we have seen so much water on our way home. Fields are underwater and rivers and creeks overflowing. Too bad there isn't some way to equal it all out.

Weezie - it's too cold for the little ones to be out playing soccer. I hope it either warms up for them or it is postponed. It looks like it will slowly warm up starting today (very slowly, IMHO)

WG - so relieved the cyst can be taken care of as an outpatient surgery. Better to get it taken care of and get on with enjoying life. I love how the groomers put the bows on the dogs! Your dog looks humiliated, like don't take my picture with these stupid bows! Bailey used to get one cute little bow because she was so small. She never liked the groomer when she came. Bailey would run and hide. We had a groomer that came right to the resort. I think she found a gold mine as everyone used her. She had a truck with a trailer behind that was all set up for grooming. Her business was called "Sit, Shower & Shave" Try saying that one fast!

Welcome to the new member and hello to everyone. My schedule was crazy last week and I thought it was going to be better this week, but it's going to end with me working a ton of hours tomorrow and Saturday.

My monitor, who has always been in bad health and should not have been working, had a stroke Tuesday sometime between going home in the morning and coming back to work that afternoon. I'm thankful this didn't happen on the bus, which I've been afraid of all year. The report is she is doing fine, will be in hospital for 3 weeks, then 6 weeks therapy. She won't be back to work.

Joshua has 14 lessons and we will be done with this go around of classes. I think he needs 3 more credits to graduate. This can't happen soon enough. He bought himself an electric guitar and everything that goes with it. I'll have to video him playing and post it for y'all.

Got to get, my walking partner will be here soon.

Hi, Seesters!

SS, we hate traveling with wind as well. Those days are soooooo long and tiring.

LG, the pies definitely sound yummy! I am looking forward to everything Shipshewanna already. I was reading an Amish fiction book this past week and Lolly's was mentioned. emoticon

WG, that is definitely good news. emoticon

Weezie, I think uniforms would be such a good idea on the public school level.

Thanks for those who have "liked" my FB post about little Jane. A friend of her momma is a bit more tech savvy than the parents - or me for that matter emoticon - and set a special FB page up for Jane, which I hope is helpful to her parents to keep them encouraged. It looks like the little family will be moving back to their [and my] hometown in early June. This will be about an hour away; I suspect I will see them as often as I do now, which is 3 or 4 times per year.

I am helping at the spring picnic at work today, so will be going there, plus walking a labyrinth that has been set up for one of the Fine Arts classes, plus correcting some things on the class electronic management site. I plan to get some sewing time in here in a bit before I do anything else.

WG, I must have been "sleeping" last night as I wanted to tell you how happy I am that you got a good report from your doctor. emoticon emoticon

I'm heading to the museum this morning about 9 a.m. and the fun begins! We will start baking apple and peach pies today. Might even do some blackberry. I am staying at home this year as I don't sleep well down there. Went you have to go to the bathroom, we have to walk down a flight of stairs and around to the back of the museum. By the time I get back up to bed, I'm wide awake!! So I'm staying at home!!

See y'all tomorrow.

WG: Cute puppy - and wonderful, wonderful news on the health report!

Weezie: There's a cliche ... if you don't like the weather in Canada, wait 5 minutes. It sounds like the midwest shares that experience. I guess cliches are coined because there is a lot of truth in them.

For anybody worried about dry conditions, we can help - I took this pic yesterday. I was standing in the middle of a field, the boots I'm wearing come up to my knees ... I thought they were going to get sucked off my feet!

Hello, ladies!!

What happened yesterday was Stephanie called me about 10 a.m. and said that her car was dead and sitting in the school parking lot and needed help getting kids. Carmen had bb practice at 5:30, Brooke had bb practice at 7:30, she was working late and Jason coaches Carmen's team. So Thomas and I went up and got the kids and Jason came over to the school and we got Stephanie's car started. Jason knows a guy who is a mechanic and he told him that the gas gauges on those vans some times don't register right. It said she had 1/4 of a tank but it was empty!! So we got Brooke and Luke and took them to pick up Stephanie and then we went to eat and dropped Brooke off at practice and took Stephanie and Luke back to her car and then we followed her home to be sure that it was OK. I was so tired......

Spent the day today at the museum and we are ready to go tomorrow. So far I'm bringing a bumbleberry pie and an apple pie to Shipshewana. What else do we want? I need to know so that I can put them on the list.

Sharon, glad that you are safe and sound and will be home tomorrow.

TB, happy that Red is doing so well.

WG, your dog is so cute!

With this new computer, I'm having trouble figuring out how to get pictures on it from my phone. But I'll get there.

Now I'm heading to be myself.

Evening ladies,

I know you're likely fainting as I'm back so soon! I'm getting ready for bed. After last night being so late, I need to get some sleep. Today was a struggle.

Yes TB, Kellan has started. He's 4 now so time to get em moving. Sadly, this weekend should be cold and possibly rainy. If so, I hope they don't make them come out. We had snow today which was so very depressing especially since this past weekend we were in the 70's and getting sunburnt. Only in Michigan you can get a tan and have temps for snow in the same week. Ugh!

Ava starts soccer this week too and she is so excited. Did have a bit of conversation with her mama and have the address of the house they will move to. I did some homework today on the school district but Sara indicated her man said the school system isn't good enough. One thing I did like is that all students wear uniforms and this is a public school system. So supposedly they are going to check out schools tomorrow and see what they find. Sara indicated also she would look for a job that is more 9-5 so she can be there. Retail doesn't work. Not sure what she'll be able to find since she has little education and has done nothing BUT retail. I gotta stay out of it and let her find her way. Hard but trying.

So if I can get some rest tonight, tomorrow night I plan to sew. Yep, I need to get to my room. Been too long and I am not happy with myself. Gotta think about 'sister' camp in June and then LG and I are doing our November retreat in September this year so need to plan for that as well. SO many projects I need/want to address.

SS, glad you made it to your destination safely. You may indeed see snow when you get back but I'll hope it stays away for your sake. I know getting home will be nice and will keep DD FIL's in my prayers.

WG, glad you'll be getting your procedure scheduled and taken care of. I agree, don't want it interfering with 'other' things. Sounds like things are going well.

PJ, Judy, Tammy, Jo, LG, Weezie, and anyone I may have missed, hope all is well but this girl is tired. I'm off to bed!!!

Hope your Wednesday was a good one as we come to Thursday and an end to another week. How time is flying.

Good evening. Had the little boys this morning while their daddy went swimming. They were very cute and fun.

Took the dog to the groomer and stopped for salad and soup for lunch. It was very tasty and I enjoyed it immensely. The dog came back with a very feminine look. She is a tomboy so it will be interesting to see how long the bows last.

SS travel safely. I hate the sedentary ways of driving. I'm glad you got a walk in yesterday. My other problem is I munch to stay awake. The last time I drove any distance, I took very low GI veggies and did OK.

Weezie, I'm glad you were there for Ava. How is the long distance romance going? I''m hoping she doesn't move far and uproot this little girl too much. I love watching the little ones play soccer. Clover, clouds, the trees across the field are all more interesting than the ball going up and down the field to most of the children.

Weezie2, hope your Mom and girls had fun visiting.

TB, I'm glad you are sleeping better. It is fun to watch the healing process but not fun to do the things that are needed for the process to come about.

I attended Cinderella's school program this afternoon and will attend the Dragon's balll game. I'm excited to watch him play.

Then it is home and sewing.

The doctor called and told me all the cancer marker tests are negative so it is just the "little" growth named Fred and the ovaries that need to go. It isn't absolutely necessary but considering my age, it is not a good thing to leave festering. And it's big enough to start interfering with other bodily functions. I'll schedule the outpatient procedure for some time next month. Removing more increases the risk of damage to other organs so I'm good leaving parts mostly intact.

Have a fun day

Well, I am happy to report we are parked (safely) in the D & W Lake RV Campground. We fought a strong wind all day and Norm is happy to be parked! I think today was our worst day of travel due to the wind. BUT, we will be home by tomorrow afternoon!

I took time to make a nice supper, a little less calories than the buffet from last night. Plus, anything we eat up is just something we don't have to unload, lol.

I hear it's snowing some back at home. I may end up seeing snow this season after all. I already told Norm we should have stayed until the end of the month in AZ. It was already paid for so what were we thinking!!! Homesick won!

BTW, please continue praying for my DD's FIL. They transported him to a rehab facility but things didn't go smooth and they took him by ambulance back to the heart center. This is the 7th week and they are all getting very weary, especially Ed.

SS, Forrest City was where we stayed overnight amongst all the rain we got into coming back from Pensacola, but we stayed in an RV park that was being developed, and why the manager/owner? was very nice and accomodating, with all that rain in the delta, it was the most horrible muddy mess - I have on my very thick soled New Balance tennis shoes, and sank up to the upper part of the shoe. It sounds like your WalMart parking lot experience was MUCH better. emoticon

Good afternoon all:

Weezie: Kellan is old enough to play soccer!?! Where does time go?

Tammy: You need rain? You can have some of ours. The ground was soft from the frost coming out - and then it rained, and rained, and rained. What a muddy mess!

Weezie2: Enjoy your family time.

Sharon: Safe travels. It will definitely be cooler at home.

I think there are good reasons that April is called "the cruelest month".

Red is doing well. The wound is healing quickly and there is no sign of infection. Fingers crossed that that continues.

Tammy - we had a safe night (no storms). We spent last night in a WalMart parking lot in Forest City, Arkansas. Today we will hopefully make it to Champaign, IL. We always spend our last night on the road in an RV park so we can empty tanks before the RV goes in our storage parking. So tonight we are going to be staying in the D & W Lake Campground. We stay there every year and love the park. Then tomorrow we should be getting home to much colder temps but safely, I hope.

Weezie2 - enjoy your lunch with Kelly. I'm sure your mom will enjoy your visit. Holding Claire will be the highlight, I'm pretty sure!

Weezie - all that time with the grandkids! I'm so happy they all have you in their lives.

LG - looking forward to hearing what kept you so busy yesterday!

TB - my mind would have went to the worst scenario with that phone call as well. I guess it's human nature to expect the worst. I'm glad it turned out just fine.

I have a fun day in store for me. Kelly and I are having lunch together. Then we'll be taking Claire to see my mom. Mom's face lights up when she sees pictures of her so getting to hold her will make her day.

Have a Great Wednesday!

Hi, Seesters!

TB, my mind would have gone to the worst case scenario as well with that call.

Weezie, so nice you are able to help with the grands. How nice that the group is attending Mass together and that you took Sister Pam out to lunch.

SS, I am trying to imagine where you might have spent the night. We had tstorms roll through overnight and so I hope your travels are not affected as they moved on.

The rains should help the garden that was already planted and hopefully it will dry out enough for me to plant what remains. I did not make it back to the sewing, but tomorrow promises to have some time for such! emoticon

Have a good day, Seesters.

Good morning all!

Just a quick drive by as I need to head out. Had an unexpected "can you get Ava" last night so she was here till after 10. Needless to say, I'm tired this morning but this too is life.

Work is work, RCIA is over for the most part. Our group is attending Mass together and meeting after so that has been nice. I took Sister Pam out to lunch last weekend and enjoyed the time with her.

This weekend calls for more soccer for both Ava and Kellan so we'll be busy but should be fun. Well, should be expect the weather isn't going to be very nice for being out in it. I'm sure a nap will be warranted. Plus, Kason turns 2 so busy time. Mama is taking them over to Dearborn to see Thomas the Train. He'll have so much fun!

Hoping to get to my sewing room as well. Time will tell.

Hope all are doing well. I'll try to catch up tonight.

Enjoy your day ladies!

One of the perils of living in a small town where professional and personal lives overlap ... our phone rang (at suppertime, of course), the number on the call display said "Dr. 's office", when we picked up the phone the secretary said "please hold for Dr. ..." The following 30 seconds felt like an eternity because we always - always - jump to the most catastrophic conclusion. It turns out the doc was asking for an opinion on our geothermal heating system. Life in a small town emoticon

WG: Thanks for the support. Although I do understand that the only way to ensure healing is to irrigate, it bothers me because it obviously hurts him and he doesn't understand why I'm doing that. I am happy to report that, as of this morning I could actually see the inside of the healing wound from the outside. It now looks like a deep dent rather than a hole that goes on forever. We were never able to figure out what he hurt himself on. We searched the shelter, the paddock, the fence ... nothing ... and he's not talking.

PJ: I love the cushion covers! I'll bet those chairs don't last long at the thrift store. Some people thrive in (what I would consider) crowded conditions. Hopefully, that will be the case with your DS.

Tammy: I think that 'checking the numbers' must be part and parcel of teaching. Mr. TB did it all the time and although he really enjoyed the smaller classes he remained concerned when enrollment dropped. Definitely a teacher thing!

My heart goes out to Baby Jane's family. I can't even begin to imagine what they're going through.

Have a good evening, all.

Hi, Seesters!

I began the day with some sewing time, and I might just get some here in a bit again. I also have it "penciled in" for Thursday - Sunday....I am working on a "quilt as you go" project and am pretty pleased with it so far.

The last load of soil was indeed shoveled/raked onto the last raised bed this morning, and I am glad about that!

I am indeed glad that the semester will be over this time next month, but I am also checking the "numbers" for next fall - I am still not quite ready to give it up altogether, so would like all of the classes to have the minimum enrollment at least. It doesn't hurt my feelings if they are not packed out, though emoticon

PJ, love the cushions!

WG, glad you are indeed "okay"; is that something that absolutely MUST be removed? Am I right that such things are present at birth? I DO think it is a wonderful thing that you are MAKING yourself get fabric. emoticon That cracked me up...

TB, I am so glad that Red is better than you feared at this stage.

SS, where are you and Norm tonight? I believe I read that you were driving in the Ft. Worth/Dallas area somewhere earlier today. That is not one of my favorite places to drive. Then again, Springfield, MO isn't one of my favorite places to drive either. emoticon

Back to work tomorrow and then off until Monday again. I will be planting if the weather permits during that time, sewing [I hope], and meeting BF on Saturday for lunch. Our Springfield, MO team has a rally the next Saturday - May 2 - that I am looking forward to.

Baby Jane's little family drove over today to their hometown to see what needs to be done to move back, as I thought might happen. They will be living with her grandparents, I think, until everything straightens a bit financially. The mom went on a general FB rant last night about how she hated moving back to that town, how they didn't have any emotional support, how it wasn't the same just to throw money at people, it didn't solve the problem...I could have let it offend me if I were so inclined, but I don't have a terminally ill child and didn't almost get evicted and then the next month have the power turned off for a few hours, so let it go on past and thought about the extreme stress she must be under. I mention because I know my seesters here will pray for them. The little town they are moving back to is where I graduated from high school; it will still be possible for me to see them occasionally.

Hello to all my seesters.

WG I am so sorry to hear you have to go fabric shopping. LOL

I just finished the patio cushions for DS. They went faster than I expected. Now to the next project which I had already started. A pieced quilt type purse for myself.

I also need to get outside and soak up some of our sun walking to the mailbox and if dry enough planting some flowers I bought this morning after Zumba.

Hospice patient is doing really good (even better than before) still has strokes several times a week and can't eat much at all without choking. Losing lots of weight. We have decided that there is something he wants to do or see before he lets go. Just not sure what. Told the kids just to enjoy each good day he has. It could change at any time quickly.

DS plans to move kids and fiancť into his little house when school is out. Hoping everything is ready by then that needs done. Even talking about hospice patient rotating between them and another sister's house. Not sure how that is going to work but it won't happen until schools out anyway a lot can change by then. Plus 2 dogs one big and one small. Talk about a house full. No basement or garage either. emoticon

Here are the cushions I made for their 4 thrift store patio chairs. They bought them for $10 each and with my doing the cushions they have quite the bargain.

Good afternoon. The boys are here and one is napping and the other is watching Batman. I've put him off all morning and didn't want to go too long. We had a great morning playing and laughing. It is fun to play with the boys and they are good sports. The Gunslinger asks to have "tickle torture" every time he comes over.

I've got the fabric out for the quilts for the youngest boys. I need a bit more blue. I went a little crazy with red and black which are lovely but they need some counterpoint. I'd bought the fabric more than a year ago so I'll head out to the fabric store (I'm so sad) and get some lighter color to make the quilt work. It is a baby quilt and made from minky so it isn't a big deal. I'm just doing simple this time. I want to get them done in the next two weeks. Then it is on to the next project. I'd hoped to get a bit more done this week and still may but have tomorrow full with activities with the grands which is wonderful that I can be there.

TB, I'm glad that Red is healing and the irrigation is working. I'm sure you can get down there less almost every time as the wound is healing from the inside. What a shame that he was injured at all.

PJ, you are so creative with your sewing. I don't think there is anything you can't sew. I'm glad the ENT has released you for a while. Are all the appointments with your dad done? How is the hospice patient doing?

Tammy, hope school went well today. How are the new plants doing?

I'm off to figure out which colors I want to add to the quilt. I'm thinking some light green and white as well as two shades of blue if I can find them.

Have a great day.

Good Morning!

Well, our days in the sun and warm temps are quickly fading in to just a memory! Today I'm in long pants and a sweatshirt. Plus, we're dodging rain drops as we go around the Dallas/Ft Worth area. If things continue to go smoothly, we should arrive home either Thursday afternoon or Friday morning. We don't like to pull in too late in the day with all the unpacking we have to do. Plus, Friday looks like better weather so we may drag our feet and get home Friday.

My eating and exercise has been iffy this week so I'm looking forward to getting home and back to my normal routine.

TB - sending good vibes for you and Red. Sounds like he is well on his way to healing!

LG - I'll bet you and Weezie are both relieved that you got signed up for the Sept retreat. That will be here before you know it!

PJ - thanks for the crack about more bubbles in my bubble bath but after this week, there will be a couple less bubbles!

This is a fly-by to say hi before I head to the stable. I slept well last night for the first time since Red got injured; I feel so much better.

Have a good day, all, and I'll pop by later.

Tammy: You must be SO looking forward to the end of the semester. I know Mr. TB always did. He enjoyed the classes but by the end - it was time ..

WG: What a stressful few weeks! But it sounds like, so far, so good. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you. I hope you are able to get some quality down time, now. I had a scare a few years ago and had "the talk" with my kids. The reactions were interesting - DS couldn't hear it (DIL could and did), DD didn't want to hear it but knew it was necessary.

Sharon: I'm glad to hear that your trip has been uneventful - uneventful is good! How much longer will it take you to get home?

PJ: It's good to hear your health news, as well. (hugs)

Lily: I hope you and Weezie have a wonderful time at your quilt retreat - I'm so envious!

I was right about something being different with Red's wound. To my relief, I was told that the changes I saw were actually positive, old tissue being sloughed off as new replaced it *whew* ... so far, so good.

The weather was yukky here, today. It was rainy, wet, and cold. I guess I was spoiled by the beautiful, early summer weather we've had for a few days. As one of the other ladies at the stable reminded me (today)... hey, it isn't -30. Good point!

emoticon just dropping in. I've been so busy today and no time for the computer. I need more time to "play" with this thing!

WG, so glad that they didn't find cancer. It is so tough to wait for the test results. I so remember in 1994 when my doctor found a lump in my breast and the radiologist told me to find a surgeon asap. I was so scared and so afraid to tell my family. But it disappeared before I could get an appointment with the surgeon. Then my stool test came back positive for blood and that is when they found the Crohn's. So prayers and emoticon my friend.

Sharon, that is a lot of reading and I am laughing like crazy at what PJ said about the bubble bath!!

PJ, glad that your ENT released you.

Tammy, love digging in the dirt.

TB, hoping all is well with Red.

Don't know if I shared....but I've found another quilt retreat for Weezie and I to go to in September of this year. I just signed us up today!!! emoticon

I went to ENT doctor and was released unless I have another problem. I have also been sewing on the patio chair cushions for DS. Have the first chair almost done. 2 cushions and I figure the first one should be the hardest.

TB what did you find out on Red. I hope your feeling was wrong and he is ok.

Tammy with all those books and gardening you are one busy lady. Iím not sure your sewing room will see you for a while.

WG sorry to hear your news but hoping no cancer markers show up in the blood work. I am so relieved you have talked to the kids. It is hard but talking needs to be done so you can all deal with whatever comes up with them also. Please let us know what you find out. Sending hugs and prayers.

Sharon there is going to be more room for bubbles in that bath tub since there is so much less of you. TeeHee.
