Good Morning!
We've been keeping busy these last couple weeks we have left. Unfortunately, a lot of it is about food! I'm ready to leave and head for home but we decided to wait out our time here as the weather is still so iffy in MI. Hopefully, another couple weeks will make a change.

I'm slipping off by myself to browse the Swap Meet one last time. There are a couple things I would like to buy and I can shop at my own pace.

I've read all the posts I missed but won't comment. I'll try to keep up better, sorry about being MIA so much lately!

Hi all!!

Janet, good to see you here and enjoy Padukah. Never been but will one day.

I honestly started this last night but Ava was here and I was interrupted. Imagine that! I have the day off so have been doing chores, getting list together for 'sister' camp which is quickly approaching, and just enjoying the quiet at home alone. DH had to work. Planning an outting to meet a friend that used to work with me. She left due to the boss. Sad truth.

The work front continues to be interesting with drastic cuts being made. 4 Administrators got the ax which makes more sense than ridding all the little people that do so darned much. Some are not happy and one actually just resigned than finish the year. She was pretty bad at what she did anyway so no great loss in my opinion.

Been working on a quilt for Kason who will turn a year old next weekend. Just need to get the binding on and that is the goal for this weekend.

Weather seems to be turning a bit nicer and am hoping the rain stays away but what we have had has really greened things up. My orange tulips are blooming right outside my door so that makes me smile.

LG, hope you get your computer issues resolved and wish you had another source, other than Best Buy to take it to.

WG, are the renovations complete? How are the new grandbabies?

Weezie2, I hope you are keeping warm and were missed in the weather they were predicting for up north here. They were looking to get up to 18 inches of snow. ACK! No thank you!!! Are you still doing the crafting with Michelle? How is sweet little Kami?

PJ, glad your dad is doing well and you are settling back in at home. It is nice to get away but coming home is always welcomed as well.

Hello to you all!! I need to scoot and get moving so I can do a few errands before my lunch date.

Have a great Easter weekend!! emoticon emoticon

Good Friday morning Ladies,

It's cold again with rain (but no meatballs!). Hopefully the warm-up will happen as forecast. Kids are off to school. Brenda (DD) took them today--his to their school and hers to a different school. It takes about an hour and 15 minutes to make the rounds and even longer for picking up because the oldest two are in sports (at different schools) with different pick-up times. I'm here with Baby Emma (theirs!). Whew! It's work. Even my brain gets tired planning out the days. Did all that make any sense? They now have 6 children and with going to the "other" parents' homes, they sure have a crazy, mixed-up agenda.

Planning to go to Good Friday service today. We had to do some hunting for a service that DH and I could go to together before his work. It does seem appropriate that the sky is dark and cloudy now.

WG--painting getting close to being finished? I love the smell of fresh paint. My DH is the one who doesn't "get" to paint at our house! I hope you can relax this weekend.

LG--Is your hand better? You do a lot with it so I sure hope so. Another question is if your computer is better. I've gotten used to this one at Brenda's. It will be different using mine again. I hope we can find a place for it in the apartment. I may have to get a laptop. I sure do want to find space for my sewing machine.

Tammy, did you get gardening worked on yesterday? I'll miss playing in the dirt this spring. My DH says I'm the happiest with I'm planting. Must be the farmer ancestry coming out. Glad you could spend time with friends yesterday.

That's another thing I miss living here. My friends are two hours away and while that doesn't seem as far as it could be, it isn't something I drive every day. In fact, it's been over a month since we've been there. We're going this weekend to worship at our church on Resurrection Sunday and to get some of our essentials to start moving into the apartment next week.

On Wednesday afternoon I ran to Michael's because they are having a great sale on cardstock. Another passion of mine is card-making. I happened to start talking to a lady who is also a retired school teacher. We exchanged info and I sent her a card I'd made when I got home. Maybe I've made my first new friend.

Blessings to all.

Hi, Seesters!

Noone visited here yesterday! Wow! That doesn't happen very often.

My day I had planned yesterday turned upside down somewhat with an email from one of the college deans that required me to drive over and see if I could take care of the situation. Federal funding has tightened up a lot, which is a good thing, and attendance records are closely analyzed, which is also a good thing, but there was a question about mine [as well as some others'] which is not a good thing, but just a matter of providing info, so I did that and came home. I did get to visit with a good friend and a new friend, so that was a good thing.

Gardening is on my agenda today, unless my day turns upside down again, in which case I will try to remember it could be worse and look for the good things.

Have a good day!

Just came in from mowing for the first time. I do like to mow and only push mow the front yard and that takes about 90 minutes DH uses the rider on the rest.

Took dad for his 4 month check up, got his drivers license renewed and some banking done. He gets so confused on anything that is out of the ordinary and I know it is only going to get worse. Just glad that he is in as good of shape as he is for 90 years old. We should have everything changed over so I can start driving his car on Friday. It will get so much better gas mileage then my GMC Jimmy.

Will be having grilled shrimp with some kebab veggies for dinner. I bought a veggie slicer so I can make zucchini noodles and will try it out tonight also.

DS seems to be doing better still not sure (and neither is he) about the lady friend I would like to see him find someone and settle down. He will be 43 in May and never been married. At least he seems to be finally getting himself on a better path in life and his health.

LG I hear you about not wanting to be tied down we have too many other things to do right?

Janet I did purchase a helmet but did not wear it when riding in Texas however I probably will here on our local trails. Times have really changed on everything and how our children survived just fine with all those things we did wrong and didnít do at all. Not sure all the new ideas are helping.

Tammy glad you get to take your morning walk. They can be very pleasant indeed enjoy your evening.

WG I had never heard of breast infection. Does that mean she canít breast feed the baby for a while? Glad the kids are helping with your painting and you can sit back and help them too at the same time.

Need to go and get showered so I can relax a bit before dinner.

Good morning. It is beautiful but cool. Supposed to get nice after the weekend. Prickly DIL is hosting the annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday so we'll see how it goes. I am not in a position to do it. Hoped I'd be but not going to be there yet.

DD who just had baby had a fever of 105 yesterday. It was a breast infection. It is so hard for the girls and they do not want any motherly advice. She and DH are doing a great job and hopefully she will feel better soon.

Other DD had a stiff neck and then started getting blurry vision. I'm thinking brain tumor, MS, any number of bad things. She took Ibuprofen and felt better so it may be migraine as she started getting them after the baby. I'm still not convinced.

Got kids coming to paint and lots of grands coming as well. Should get several walls done today. It is coming and will happen. DS will need to do a bit of painting as he wants to do some without help. I'll paint as well but they don't like the way I paint so I usually am relegated to painting the trim. They often forget that I painted the entire house when we moved in but they were much younger.then. So was I.

DD is here to paint and I'm running errands and tending the grands. Don't want to get in the way too much.

Tammy, DD is doing what she needs to do. I'm glad you are finding a measure of peace although I'm sure you'd wrap her in cotton wool if she would let you.

LG, your baking makes me tired. Hope you have a good day.

Take care all. I'm off to be helpful.

Hi, Seesters!

A good morning at work this morning - one of my favorite lessons - and I will be walking with a colleague for part of my break, so that is good. DH and I are also going out to dinner tonight for our 19th anniversary. :-) It likely will not be fancy - but we aren't fancy - likely either a BBQ place or a Cajun place in our community that we have always said we wanted to try but never have. LOL! When it comes down to it, we eat at home most of the time!

DD - drama - it will be there for a while - she may have a doctorate in The School of Hard Knocks emoticon but what is, is. LG, I have "said my piece" and will probably do it again. LOL!

Gardening plans are in my future for the next few days - good for fitness, good for sunshine/vitamin D, good for the soul.

Hello to all! Have a very good day, Seesters!

Another cold morning--still in the 30s but thankfully it looks green and not white outside. I had Emma duties last night, but the sweet thing slept until 4:30. I didn't lose too much sleep. It was her first night in her big girl bed. She'll be 3 months old on Friday, but she still weighs under 10 pounds. So precious.

Tammy I sure hope your daughter is getting things straightened out in her life. I'm glad she has good friend support. If I'm remembering correctly, she hasn't been married very long. Thanks for the info about the Quilt Museum. I will sure try to get there. I should avoid Hancocks this time--moving into an apartment doesn't give me a lot of space for MORE fabric! I'm wondering where I'll put what I have hoarded.

PJ I enjoy bike riding. I'm glad you'll be able to add that to your exercise menu. Do you wear a helmet? I appreciate that they provide protection, but I've never used one. I just rode in my subdivision where I lived in Crown Point. I don't know if my bike will make it here--not sure where I'd put it to keep it safe. My DD commented last night that she doesn't know how she survived childhood--I laid her belly down in her crib, I held her in the car, I didn't make her wear a helmet. Amazing she's alive, right?

Lilygal: I know what you mean about being tied down. Retirement is supposed to give you more freedom. But it seems to me, I don't have any more than when I was teaching. I didn't realize it was so cold "down south" where you live. We ordered chairs from a furniture store in Shipshewana to go with our oak table. I picked them up last week. They are beautiful. Looking forward to the group shopping experience again.

Have a great day, ladies. Keep warm!

Good morning, ladies....hope that everyone is staying warm. It sure isn't here. I'm so over this weather. It is very cold here....26! I need some emoticon

Janet, I sure hope that you take advantage of being in Paducah and going to the quilt museum! Also, you need to go to Hancock's! I've never been but one of these days.......

Tammy, hope that your drama is over soon. It doesn't help us to be stressed. It is so hard when it involves our kids.

PJ, glad you got to your Zumba class and that Frank is going to get your bike ready for you. Thomas and I have talked about bikes but with my tail bone issue just doesn't lend itself to biking!! Sorry, about your DS and I hope that he and the lady get things "settled". I know that is hard.

I do love to bake but I can tell you that I don't want it to become a "job". I'm not good with deadlines!! I used to own a shop and I made children's clothes. It was just part time but I did OK with it. But then it just got to be over whelming and with the other business that we owned, I gave mine up. At this point in my life I don't want to be "tied down" again!

Hope that you all have good day.....BBL

Hi, Seesters!

Janet, DH and I both loved the National Quilt Museum, and there is some type of "display" - I can't put my finger on the right word right now - that opened right after we left that I see on FB, and think "Oh, I wish I could see that!"

It was quite chilly and frosty overnight - I did make a cover above my tulips, which hadn't quite bloomed yet - and will leave it tonight as well, but then we are supposed to be warmer. It looked as if I was going to have quite the display of tulips, so I do hope that they make it.

Thanks for the kind words about my response to the latest drama - it took me a long time to get there. I believe she has taken appropriate action to keep herself as safe as she can under the circumstances, and if she sometimes doesn't sleep well over it, that is a consequence, isn't it?

I need to leave for piano lessons here in a bit - I have a few short errands to run as well. Have a good afternoon!

Went to my Zumba class this morning and have cleaned house, put bone meal on the peonies, now to knit some this afternoon. It looks like tomorrow afternoon the yard mowing will begin for us. I will be taking dad for a doctor appt (check up with his primary), get his drivers license renewed (even though he isnít driving) just to make him feel better and for identification if for some reason he doesnít pass we will just get him a state ID card tomorrow morning.

Frank has my bike hitch installed on the car now he is figuring out how to make the actual rack. My riding time is getting closer.

We had 80 degrees on Saturday and yesterday morning snow. Go figure. Now it is supposed to settle down into the 50s but sunny at least for a couple of days.

Tammy your DD and my son. He is having problems with getting his disability/retirement checks and the lady he has been seeing says she thinks of DS as a big brother. He isnít in a good place right now. Hopefully he wonít backslide too much and he fights depression too so I get concerned. I told him to at least send me a text everyday just so I know he is ok. This morning he said they had a text fight so I guess they are at least still in contact. Which is good. I think

JO so glad you are finally feeling better and getting your computer etc set up

Becky I took belly dancing classes when I was in my 20s but didnít stick with it. I doubt that there is anywhere close for lessons now

WG ouch on that torn nail. How did that happen are you clumsy like me? LOL

LG I think everyone knows you like to bake. If not you would be miserable with all of it that you do.

Weez2 I think you need to find a way to visit the Quilt Museum since you are there and like you say may not have the chance again. Just drag your mom she will enjoy it. Enjoy your baby time. We will get to see Jackson on Sunday. I canít wait he is growing so fast and we will finally see him walking/running.

I'm amazed, dismayed that we had snow overnight. Still some hanging around in the shady spots, but at least the grass is green. That's a good sign of the future. I'm still hanging around here on SparkPeople doing a 5% challenge. I need more but that's a start. I've been good this week at tracking and keeping within my limits. This website is very helpful when I take advantage of its resources.

I read back through a few pages of posts to catch up with what's been going on in your lives. Busy as usual.

I can smell your bread baking, Lilygal. You are the best. I might need a loaf tomorrow too! I'm glad you are getting things done. That makes one of us. But holding a baby is work too, I hope. That's what I've been up to mostly. That and running the other kids around here and there. I've missed this part of grandmothering so I am glad to be here.

I'm heading down to Kentucky (near Paducah) for a final visit there before we move my parents to Indy area. In all of the 15 years that they've been there, I have yet to visit the quilt museum. Many visits to Hancocks of Paducah, of course. Tammy, did you enjoy the museum when you went through there? I'm wondering if I can persuade me mom to go with me. I probably won't get another chance anytime soon.

It looks like we will be moving into our own space right after Easter. We're renting a 2-bedroom apartment. Like starting over, but we need our own lives and my daughter's family needs a break from us!

Sharon, are you heading north yet? Maybe after the snow!

Some little princess needs her lunch emoticon emoticon

Catch up later, ladies. Thanks for being here.

Morning, ladies.....

Well, I'm baking yet again....this time for Carmen. She needs a loaf of homemade bread for school tomorrow. So I told her I'd make it for her. It is going in the oven in just a few minutes.

It is snowing here again! UGH!!!!!!!!! Becky, my only hope for warm weather might be to go see you!! We had beautiful weather here over the weekend but it ain't now!!

Jo, you are slowly but surely getting things done. I'm sure that you won't have much of a problem once you get used to the computer.

Tammy, you have a better attitude about things like that than I would have. To be perfectly honest....I told my FIL off once and warn him not to make me mad again! And I meant it. He was a meddler. I try my dangest not to meddle into my kids "affairs". You are a shining example for me.

Becky, I love to bake and we only do this once a year. And there are many things that I wish I'd taken up when I was younger! You look awesome in that costume though!!

I need to scoot out of here....I'll try to get back later.

Good morning Seesters. The kids will be coming soon. I've got a class at work today and was going to go in early but it was a long night. Between shoulder and a torn nail on my foot that kept catching things, it just was a struggle to stay asleep. I couldn't move as early as I wanted so I'll have to leave Fabio for a while while I go to the class. I'll leave shortly after he arrives and come back hopefully while he naps.

Becky, the smoke detectors were on the back deck from the construction. One has blared all night. I was at the other end of the house so it was not truly annoying to me to hear it through the closed windows and house. If anyone had a window open for fresh air, they closed it at some point in the night.

I've got to run. Will catch up later.

Jo, it sounds like you have a complete computer set-up now. Good for you!! Enjoy it....

Tammy, what a positive attitude with your family problems. Sometimes it's really hard to step back and get a better perspective. It's great that you're able to do that.

PJ, I sometimes think people will be disappointed when three "mature women" show up for presentations instead of high school/college "girls". It's just an insecurity that I have emoticon that I am working on. I will be 58 in two weeks, and I didn't start dancing until I was 50 so I got a late start. I really wish I had discovered belly dance at a younger age!!! Belly dance is for all ages, shapes and abilities and I adore it (mainly because it is so hard and really challenges my mind and body). I'm sorry you're still getting SNOW!!!

Pat, I can't believe how much baking you guys do for the museum functions. It must be really satisfying to see the results. It sounds like you really could be a professional baker.

WG, what was the blaring you heard at 3:00 a.m.? Do you have loud neighbors like us??? We are at wit's end with some neighbors who do karaoke until 4:00 in the morning. I never understand how people can be so INCONSIDERATE.

Sharon, that's a great service that Walmart offers....and like you said, they know people are going to buy at their store.

TB, have you gotten to ride yet?

Weezie, how was your retreat?

I went to the doctor yesterday after ten days of coughing and not feeling up to par, and I have bronquitis. Luckily this is our week off and I can recuperate before the munchkins come back on Monday. If parents didn't send their kids to school sick, teachers wouldn't get sick. emoticon

Sat. they finally installed the printer so now I think I have everything - just have to learn how to use them -

also have to decide best place for PC - some people keep them on their laps but since I also type that would not do.

so much to do in apt. so one of these days I will be organized.

Thurs. I go to library for a class on E-reader to download library to it.

feeling much better now so I know I will have every thing set up.

hope all are well -

keep well

JO

Hi, Seesters!

I still say "let's have a good week!", but forces are fighting that in my neck of the woods - well, family neck, I guess. I got a "I need to talk to you today" text from DD this morning - never a good thing, because if it was good, she would just text me. I will make it short - she is filing a restraining order against her husband, and her tires were slashed at work - but "Mom, I'm okay" and "I'm going to sleep on different people's couches for a couple of months until I can get my own place" , blah, blah, blah and "don't worry!" emoticon This is the part of the story that she told me; there is no telling what I do not know. I told her call me and let me know how she is every few days. Tough love is hard.

Anyhow, I had a WONDERFUL weekend, and I WILL have a GOOD week! I WILL, I WILL, I WILL!

We sent in our taxes, along with a nice check, last week.

I shall work on classes, now. Have a good afternoon!

We had snow this morning luckily the ground was warm enough there was no accumulation. Took our taxes to the post office and now doing some cleaning out of stuff. Will also do some knitting later and I have a pot of beef/veggie soup cooking for dinner.

WG Glad you got everything brought in before it rained. Iím sure the neighbors are loving you today. It is always more enjoyable painting/working when you can visit and have the extra help.

Becky love the costumes but donít understand the earlier comment about old belly dancers. It looks to me like the young ones have nothing on you. Beautiful.

LG I can only imagine how tired you were after all that baking. Good luck on your shopping.

Have a great day

Hi all. Gunslinger is here. His dad is swimming. Life goes better if he gets a break. Fabio isn't there and it will be nice to get a few things done today.

Becky, love the pictures. I can see how they are quite different from the costumes you have used in the past but it is exotic and that is in part the intention. I think you were right in altering them to fit you as they look great on you.

Weezie2, have a nice day. It is cooler here as well. I do enjoy the nice spring weather but it can be unpredictable.

Have a wonderful day all. I'm off to be busy.

Our weather has gone crazy...lol We're suppose to drop to 28 overnight and be back to the 50's by Wednesday. We even have a chance of snow in the mix.

I plan on working out then seeing what else I can move along from my spare bedroom. WAY to much and long overdue. I want to have a grip on everything sooner than later.

Have a Great Monday!

Hello, girls!

I was so tired last night that I just read thru and didn't have the "strength" to post! We got a lot done yesterday at the museum. Another gal came and we baked corn bread muffins and pineapple upside down cakes. We still have more corn bread to make. We usually have about 750 muffins to go with the ham & beans. I have 3 more apple cakes to make and then some cinnamon rolls to do.

I have a dr appointment this morning and then I'm going to do some shopping. I'm trying to find some exercise shorts to wear this summer. Most of them are just too short.

Becky, went and looked at your pictures and I like the costume! And I'm glad that your friend is recovering so quickly. But sorry that your trip was cut short.

WG, you are moving right along with your quilting and your remodeling and all the babies!!

SS, don't blame you for not coming back yet. My sister has left Florida and is now at their other house in Georgia. So she is gradually making her way back.

Tammy, glad that the walk went so well and lots of money came in.

PJ, getting settled back in at home....that's a good thing.

Got to go and get a few things done before we head out.

Good morning!!

My friend is recovering nicely....and that is a relief!!

We have this week off from school, but I will be working most of the week cleaning and changing materials. Everything closes down on Thursday and Friday (even the buses stop running) and there are procesions in almost all the towns in Costa Rica for Holy Week.

I posted two pictures of our "belly dance uniform". emoticon

Good evening Seesters. I love Daylight Saving time. It is so nice to see daylight and sun in the evening. It is windy/blustery today and is probably going to be very spring like tomorrow. It is important to get water so a bit of rain isn't a big deal.

I was climbing into bed last night when it started thundering so I had to get back up and go outside to bring in the shelves. They were painted yesterday and were drying outside. Made it in the nick of time. Unfortunately, the smoke detectors were still outside. They were removed when the floor was finished and as I've got new ones, they haven't been put away yet. They still make noise and apparently alarmed all night.

Woke up at 3 this morning hearing the regular blaring of the things. Since they are outside and on the other side of the house, they weren't terribly annoying--until I opened the door and heard the real sound. I'm sure the neighbors love me a lot today.

Tammy, I believe it is going to be a good week.

LG, I hope you survived rolling. As I recall, you have a machine that rolls the dough and makes the crusts. All you have to do is put them in tins. It is still a ton of work, though.

SS, your quiet days sound wonderful.

Becky, I'm so glad your friend has a son who can help her. Socialized medicine has a few advantages but having a family member who is a doctor is the best one.

TB, hope you got some Red time in this weekend.

I'm off to bed. Got home last night and DIL was painting. I changed clothes and helped her while we visited. It was fun. It will be a few more coats but it should work out. It already looks great. DS came by yesterday and painted a wall as well. It takes a long time for all the things to work out.

Have a great night all.

Hi, Seesters!

It is getting cooler here, with a chance of tstorms and a slight possibility of tornadoes. It will be much cooler tomorrow, but will be back to the 60s and 70s by the weekend.

Just got home from visiting MIL we havenít seen her since December she was waiting on us to get home so DH can go with her for a colonscopy otherwise she is doing ok.

I finally got all the laundry caught up for a few days. The rain is here and the temps are dropping so this will be a good afternoon for me to knit while DH does our taxes. I have a chicken in the crockpot cooking. I tried a new thing with setting it on top of aluminum foil balls in the bottom of the crockpot. I saw this on either FB or Spark.

Becky I am so glad your friendís son is a doctor and was able to get her the attention she needed for that ankle. And older belly dancers are beautiful too.

LG I guess you are rolling rolling rolling today.

Sharon youíll be home before you know it. We have a chance for thunderstorms for the rest of the day and night with temps dropping. They are saying a possible snow flurry mixed in but no accumulation.

WG I guess your emoticon means you are painting.

Evening!

Another day over already. The only time I went out of the MH was to empty trash! It was a low key day just relaxing. I finished one of my books I'm reading and started another. Made a nice dinner and now winding down, almost time for bed.

LG- your day was the exact opposite of mine I see. You do keep busy! I doubt that I could keep up with you if I tried.

Becky - I am so sorry to hear of your friends fall and the broken bones. Thank God, she was taken to the hospital that her son works at. It must make both her and her husband feel better to know she was in capable hands. It's good that they are staying there for a few days. I'm also sorry your hiking trip had to end so abruptly. In the US, WalMarts always welcome RV's to spend the night in their parking lots. You have to see the manager as once in a while there is a local ordinance against it but in 6 years we've only run in to that problem once. The manager usually tells you where to park so the surveillance cameras are added security. Plus most WalMarts have a Security Guard that rides the parking lot 24/7. WalMart isn't dumb. They may let you park there free but most people go in to the store and buy more than a campground fee. They get our money!

PJ - I envy you being home and having things getting organized. But today our family and friends have have severe thunderstorms all day with 75mph winds and hail. They aren't done yet and they have Flood Warnings until Monday. As much as I want to go home, I think sitting here until May 1st is a better idea.

Tammy - it sounds like you had a great Heart Walk and lots of money was made. Then lunch with your BF. What a wonderful day!

emoticon Ladies!

WOW!! Been a very long day and buy day. Got up at 4:30 and did my walk and then headed to the grocery store. Home to shower and leave for 2 soccer games. We all walked from Jason's house (got more miles!). Then after Carmen's game (which they won 3-1! emoticon) Brooke and I walked back to the house to get some snacks. My nephew and his bride to be came during Luke's game and we all went back to the house and had lunch. Then we came here for a bit and then they headed back to Indy. I'm pretty tired and have a long day again tomorrow. We will be rolling pie dough beginning at noon. I'm headed in to the couch to rest! I'll try to get back tomorrow.

I should be in San Gerardo de Dota hiking instead of posting here emoticon , but you just never know what is going to happen. We left yesterday at 4:00 a.m. as planned and arrived at 9:00 and unpacked. The owner showed us around his orchards and we ate apples, plums, peaches, passion fruit, raspberries and figs off the trees (it's an organic farm). We decided to hike up a steep hill before lunch, and coming down my friend twisted her ankle and fell down. She was panicked saying that she heard her ankle break and her husband took one look at her ankle and took off down the hill with my husband to call the ambulance. It took them about 45 minutes to show up and they carried her down and rushed her to a clinic in a nearby town. The doctor stabilized her foot and said she had to go to the public hospital in Cartago (we have socialized medicine). But instead, her husband had the ambulance take her to a private hospital in San Josť where her son (a doctor) was waiting for her. They operated on her ankle (three bones were broken) last night and she was released this afternoon and is staying at her son's house in Heredia for a few days before they come home. If they had sent her to the public hospital we would still be there with her waiting for a doctor to see her. emoticon She is going to have to go to rehab and it will be awhile before we see her in the gym in aerobics. It just goes to show that anything can happen anytime....

I promise to post some pictures of our dance presentation as soon as our "photographer" sends them. It went well. There were a lot more people there than I expected to see. I always hope that they have been told that we are "older" belly dancers so they aren't too disappointed when they are expecting beautiful young women....and we show up. emoticon

Sharon, you guys overnight in Walmarts when you're traveling? That's interesting. Do they have special set-ups in the parking lots or are they just nice about people overnighting?

Pat, my parents and an older brother are dead and we don't have much extended family. . My brother is a marine engineer so he can live anywhere he wants and he decided to build a house across the street from us. My only other brother has been out of work for awhile and he is living there, too, for now. Neither are married. So....we have a family compound. emoticon The engineer is retiring and I don't think he will stay forever in Costa Rica. He loves to travel.

TB, I didn't know how to explain to the kids how the lollipops that sprouted from the magic jellybeans got from our front yard into the plants in the classroom. I finally told them that I was in the kitchen making the cupcakes for the Easter party and I watched (in amazement, of course) as the lollipops grew when the rain started. They (being magic lolipops) jusy knew they needed to be in the classroom, so they lined themselves up and hopped from the front yard back to the school and jumped up and re-planted themselves in the potting soil in the school plants. I even told them that Charlie (our beloved dog) saw them, got scared and ran to hide under our bed.....and they loved that!!!

I have been busy busy. I still have a couple of loads of laundry then that will be caught up finally. Spent all day today cleaning up the trailer washing down all the cabinets, shining all the mirrors rearranging cabinets and throwing a few items away.

Yesterday I spent a few hours with dad and getting groceries. Tonight DH is grilling out fresh halibut, sweet potato and fresh asparagus (the first from our garden this year). The rain and cooler weather is to appear tonight so wanted to enjoy the weather today.

I have ripped out the knitted shawl (again) this is about the 4th time I have started over. I am determined to get it to my liking.

Tammy congrats on finishing your 5K and having a nice BF lunch. DH has been working in the yard and Iím sure the lawn mowing will start this week. He also ordered a bicycle rack for me to use on my new car (dads old one). As soon as I have that I will start bike riding again. Iím ready I enjoy riding and do miss it.

Weez Iím sure you will have a great time on the retreat and you have something in common with those you donít know so it shouldnít be a problem.

WG I see you are busy busy busy with your kitchen, babies and work. Exciting on the kitchen cabinets.

Iím so far behind Iíll just say HI to all the rest of my seesters.

Well, hi, again, Seesters!

The Heart Walk is over; it was a beautiful day. My other team mate arrived much later than I did, and I never did meet up with her, but that is okay! A couple of my friends who live in the area where the walk was held were out on their normal walking route, so I walked about a block with them. Afterward, I went to a local music store and stopped by a thrift store, killing some time before I met my BF for lunch at a local restaurant. She had given up dessert for Lent, so there wasn't even that temptation! LOL!

I hope you are all out having a wonderful day!

Hi, Seesters!

I am all ready for the Heart Walk tomorrow, and my team captain and I - there are just the two of us - have plans to text to meet to walk together. Then I am meeting my BF afterward for lunch, and that will be fun.

I have been in my garden mode today again; I purchased a couple of ferns in small pots that require part shade to full shade - perfect for the front of our house - and I repotted them in larger pots to allow for growth. I also have planted my onion sets - I should say SOME of the onion sets. The sun is pretty bright right now so I will sow my lettuce seeds after dinner. I keep watching for my pots with seeds indoors to sprout.

Louise54, what are you making these days for the craft fairs? I told DIL this week that we needed to find another one for us to attend with the SM; we went to our second year at a local fall one.

Weezie, did you realize that you wished us a Happy Monday? LOL! That is something I would do. Enjoy your retreat.

WG, it will surely be good for the renovations to be finished. How nice that your children can and are willing to help. We had a new baby in our family this week as well - a great-nephew for me.

TB, I always look forward to your Red updates.

PJ, when is the 5K with Tony?

LG, it sounds like you will have a full but great Saturday!

BG, are we going to get pictures?

JO, I hope everything got set up!

Thank you all for the ideas for the care packages. Perhaps they will bring a smile to his face on these hard days away from home as I send them. Of course, I am sure it was worse years ago without Facetime and Skype, etc, but we aren't on his lists of people he chooses to do those things with. Just saying - not feeling sorry for my self nor angry.

I likely "jinxed" the DD Drama by semi-bragging - she sent me a text yesterday that she and DH#2 were for sure getting a divorce...big sigh...another round in the drama. At least I didn't find out on FB this time. She is a the RN program orientation today, so that is good. I shall concentrate on the positive; even when I think I have understood things with her, I haven't. I will continue to pray, walk, and garden, and that will be good.

Hello to everyone...

Have a good evening!

Another hot day here in AZ. We did top out at 100 yesterday and may get there again today!
We are leaving here on the 1st of May as planned. We are paid until the end of the month and the thrifty me says no sense paying someone else as that would be paying twice! We will probably have a couple long days of travel so that means a couple overnights at WalMarts just to get some rest.

Weezie - it sounds like your retreat is coming at a good time for you to relax and reflect. I hope you enjoy meeting and staying with your new friends.

Weezie2 - it must feel good to you to get out and work in your garden after a long hard winter!

WG - I'm glad after all you do for the kids that they are all willing to pitch in and help you! Will it be complete after this weekend or will there be more to do. I imagine you are more than ready for the remodel to be done so you can get back to normal routines.

TB - I enjoy the higher temps mostly. There is a couple hours at the peak of the heat that the MH has a difficult time maintaining our normal temp because we have so many windows. We just plan to go somewhere like shopping, laundry or a movie and by the time we return the MH is comfortable once again.

It's another beautiful day here. I'm heading out soon to continue working on cleaning out my gardens. Fresh wood chips are definitely needed this year.

Enjoy your retreat, they're so good in so many ways.

We had a craft fair last weekend and won't have another one til the end of June. Hopefully that gives me plenty of time to get a few projects finished for it.

Have a great weekend!

Happy Monday ladies!!

I do apologize for having been MIA. Been busy and also have caught a 'spring' cold. Also been helping with the little people in my life. I think I'm dealing with some sort of something with the 'family' drama I continue to try to internalize. Not good and am working on it.

Going away after work for the weekend today and do hope I don't spread the cold. I chose to go on a retreat with a group of ladies from the church I've been attending. Should be an interesting experience for me. I'll be in a cabin with 6 other ladies and only know 1 very well and so a lot of 'new' to experience. Bright side it is at a nice conference center about 1.5 hours away and should have nice weather. Hoping to get out and enjoy nature and get some needed steps.

WG, sounds like the renovations are coming along. You're luck the kids are there to assist. Have enjoyed reading about the journey you've been on.

TB, nice to see you here and hope you are finally getting some nicer weather soon. Have you been quilting?

Weezie2, I haven't talked to you in a bit but do hope all is well with you. Are you still crafting for shows with Chell?

SS, when will you be returning to Michigan?

Tammy, got your note and thank you. I understand the need to downsize with teams. I'm doing the same. I'm down to two as of now. I need to get back to what matters and I think all the demands may be the reason I've avoided the computer.

PJ, loved the photos on FB of you and the boys and with your brother. You had so much hair!!! LOL

LG, enjoy the belated birthday celebration with the kids. I'm sure you'll have a great time. And, do hope the trip to Indy is good and Thomas and his train continues to keep him happy. LOL Looking forward to coming that way to see it in action.

Judy, hope things are well with you. I'm sure you've already had spring break there in KS. Thought we might have to make some days up since we had 10 snow days but legislation is going through that will help us since we do more hours than required. The reporting I do for the State should be fun - NOT! We have six buildings and except the elementary buildings, they all have different hours. So now to figure that piece out.

I'm at work today and it appears I'm solo. Nobody has showed except the Supt. and he's planning on leaving early. Now what to do. I hope to keep busy so I can scoot out of here by around 3.

I will be away till late Sunday afternoon but will try to check back in with you and let you know how it goes.

Do hope you all have a great Friday and weekend!

Good evening. I've spent the last two hours trying to work out some help for tomorrow. Hitting the tail end and need to make a big push to get everything done. Cabinets are here and DS put one together. They are very solid and nice. I thought the custom ones that came with the house were good but these are very nice.

Tomorrow at one point or another, three boys and perhaps DD#2 will be here to help paint, put cupboards together, take old ones apart to finish, and get the last of the wall prep done. It seems to be one step forward and two back. Have a bit of a time crunch with the babies coming soon and the ones already here.

Becky, love the idea about the jelly beans. Sorry it rained today although water is nice.

LG, planning is your watchword. I'm glad you got things together for dinner. I'm sorry the others aren't coming. But this weekend sounds fun.

SS, hope the movie was good. I don't do hot that well. Like up to the 80's but not much above that. It has been perfect here. 70's all week. Supposed to cool down tomorrow so I won't get to enjoy it.

TB, sorry it was windy today. I'm glad you got to spend time with Red anyway. The quilt is as finished as you pronounce it. That is the fun part of doing it yourself. If you feel that done, it is so.

Got to run and head off to bed.

Gee - there goes Lily picking on me again; now I know I'm back. emoticon emoticon

Lily: I made a huge ham for Christmas (got SO tired of turkey), divided the left-overs into meal sized portions, added a bit of the liquid to keep things moist and froze them. They were just as delicious the second time around and we had meals on tap for 3 months. I'm thinking about doing another one for Easter.

Weezie2: I love the log cabin quilts, too. There are so many variations you could make quilts from that pattern, for years, and never have a duplicate.

Tammy: I'm glad things are easier with DD.

Becky: What a diplomatic way of handling the skirt issue; sometimes conspiracies can be positive things emoticon I'm looking forward to hearing about your presentation.

I love the jelly bean plant idea. I'm like you - have always been safety conscious but not nearly as much so as now. The comment that the doc made (not to me, by the way) really did strike home and now I'll refuse to ride if I don't have my helmet along ... because even the quietest horse can get stupid when frightened.

PJ: What great news about your DS. Good for him!

WG: I'm sure your DD will settle in with the new babe soon. She's so fortunate to have you and her sibs to help out.

Sharon: Temps between 80 and 100?!? It has been so long since I've seen those that I forget what it feels like. But I love the heat - I think I must have been a lizard in a past life.

Things are pretty much the same here. I went to the stable today but it was incredibly windy (high winds really scare horses) so I just gave Red his supplements and turned him back out. Tomorrow is another day.

I've been trying to get as much as possible done on Celtic Sky. I think it's over 3/4 quilted but that may be wishful thinking on my part.

emoticon to everyone I've missed. Talk to you soon.

Good Afternoon!

I tried posting this morning, had a nice long post ready when my computer crashed! I had to do a System Repair and then I walked away completely out of the notion to post again!

My lap top seems to be working better now so I'll try again.

Tammy - a few suggestions for your GS would be Q-tips (#1 requested item to clean weapons), body shampoo for men as they have their head shaved, wipes for cleaning most anything, batteriers (AA or AAA), snacks should be pop top if they have lids, and most important of all, a hand written note in the package!

LG - smart idea to clean now so you can relax and enjoy your company with all the activities you have planned!

Becky - good luck on your presentation tonight and have fun on your mountain trip!

WG - It was great you were able to let the two women bond over the baby. I would rather have gone myself as well but some times it works better if you don't go. You will get your times to help out the new mommy I'm sure!

I think we may go see a movie this afternoon. It's getting pretty warm in the MH even with A/C. We are flirting with and may see temps of 100 today. It will be the first triple digit temp for this year but won't be the last. It's supposed to drop back in the 80's for a few days and then who knows.......

Morning, ladies.....working on my house to get cleaned before company on Saturday. We have 2 soccer games beginning at 10a.m. Our company is my nephew and his bride to be. They are going to come to the soccer games and then we are going to Jason's for lunch and then back here. We will go to Mass and then we plan to cook out. I was afraid that they might stay all night!! emoticon

Becky, will you get any pictures for us? Sure hope so!! Did I read your post right about your brother living across the street from you? Does your whole family live there?

WG, I so remember bringing Jason home and being a "basket case" for worrying about him. Is she an "older" mom? Good that your other DD was available to help her out.

Tammy, a friend of mine sent socks, peanuts, magazines, books, personal items (deodorant, razors, shaving cream, etc.) The Girl Scout cookies are great too! How did the cook out go?

Need to get the clothes out of the dryer and finish the house. Thomas went to pick up our ham for Easter. Though I probably shouldn't have bought such a big one.....only Rachel will be here. When I bought it everyone was supposed to be here but plans have changed.

Now I've got to scoot..............

Tammy, I was trying to think of things I like people to send me from the states (though my situation does not even compare to your GS in Afghanistan). How about Easter candy and magazines (and books)? I love getting them!!!

When my husband and I first got married, there were no new telephone lines available in San Carlos. We had to put our name on a waiting list. A friend of mine wrote and asked for our phone number and I wrote her back saying that we didn't have a telephone. And she sent me a telephone!! It was so cute.....I had a telephone in my living room but no connection.

WG, I'm glad you had a backup to call for new mom support. I remember how terrified I was when my son was born.

PJ, congratulations to your son!!!! That is amazing....and he must feel incredible!! My brother has lost 65 pounds (he was up to 300) and he looks and acts like a different person. He is on SP for the food part and is riding his bike for exercise. The stomach bypass surgery has been approved by the hospitals in our socialized medicine program and lots of people here are getting the surgery.

Well, this is only the second time in 20 years that we are going to have to have our Easter egg hunt in the classroom. It has been pouring since noon yesterday. And no lollipop gathering either (from the magic jellybeans). It isn't the ideal, but the farmers here really need the rain.

Our dance presentation is tonight and we leave tomorrow morning at 4:00 a.m. for the mountains. emoticon

Good evening all. I'm home from work and DD's house finally and am off to bed in a couple of minutes. I need to get some sleep tonight. This late evening stuff is a killer for me.

Becky, good for you getting the skirts altered. Jelly bean plants sounds fun. You do some very creative things. I'm so glad we "talk" as Seesters and share our varied and wonderful talents and interests.

LG, you are off to a great start with the yard work. You have so much to do and it is always so much anyway but with the attention the yard will get.

Tammy, fund raising is something I hate as well. I've done it once for the cancer society and refuse to do it at all. No matter how easy they say it is, it is excruciating for me.

PJ, so glad your DS is working on becoming healthier. Working slowly really helps. So glad you get to go out again.

DD called in tears this morning. She was sobbing so hard, I could barely understand her. First full day home as a new mom. I was at work and couldn't be with her, so I called her sister who happened to be home. She dropped what she was doing and came to the rescue. It was good for the girls to spend this time together and although I wish it could be me, what needed to be done was done. Mom got rest and support.

I went over tonight and held the baby for a bit. She is working on the nursing and balancing everything. It will work out soon. It takes a while to become a Mom even though giving birth makes one a mother. It will happen as it should and they will be a great family.

I'm worn out. Will be off to bed and talk tomorrow if I have any brain left.

Hi, Seesters!

BGIN, our college semesters are over midMay. I believe I have four weeks left. I am not sure if that counts finals week or not. This Friday is the students' last day to decide to drop a class, so I must make sure that I get their exams taken today graded and entered electronically in a timely manner. This probably means BEFORE gardening tomorrow. LOL

JO, good to see you!

My HeartWalk team is still just the two of us, but we have now exceeded our fundraising goal for a team, so that is exciting, even though that end of it is still very uncomfortable to me. I have raised enough to have a Heart Walk tshirt, so if I do it next year, I can kind of have a conversation about it when I wear the tshirt or something like that. Saturday is supposed to be lovely, so I am glad of that.

We are having a cookout this evening with DS and DIL and youngest SD that moved down over a year ago. It should be fun. I had to almost bite my tongue in two last night when the SD was being sarcastic with her dad [my DH]; I am still not sure I did the right thing; after all, it is OUR house. She sounded like a teenager, and she is getting close to 50 years old. It doesn't happen often; she has been down here over a year, and it is the first time it has happened, but I have seen it other times over the almost 18 years we have been married.

Do any of you have any ideas of what could be sent to GS now that he is Afghanistan? I know Girl Scout cookies, but am looking for other ideas as well. I sent the other GS cards, etc when he was in Iraq. These are both the sons of the abovementioned SD. LOL

Have a good day! Hello to all!

My name is Tammy and I live in SW Missouri.

It is a beautiful day here.....have been outside some trying to decide what to plant and where. We went to the greenhouse (my friend's) and told her what I want. I know it will come to $$$!! But it gives me pleasure and I won't quit until I can't plant it all any more!!

PJ, glad that you made it home OK. And it is wonderful about your DS!! My DD is also going back to the gym and watching what she eats! High five!!!

Jo, hope that you get everything set up soon.

Becky, all tile floors! When we lived in the country we had all hardwood floors. They were COLD and here tile would be freezing most of the time!!! Your Easter Egg hunt and the jelly bean "plants" sound like fun!

Got to scoot....will try to get back later.

Good Afternoon
PJ - I just got back from our laundry room. With all the clean floors and carpets, I wanted all my rugs clean as well. I am so glad your DS is working for better health and losing weight! I am sure you have inspired him. He must also look at all Tony has been through and watched him work hard to better his life. I hope both sons continue to improve.

Jo - I would love a new lap top but hate transferring all the stuff from the old one. How nice they did that for you. Nos you can just spend time getting used to your new PC.

We made it home yesterday afternoon and we both got a good nights sleep last night. The wind was pretty strong yesterday morning enough that Frank was nervous driving. After we stopped for lunch it had calmed down.

We have been unpacking all morning and somewhere below all the laundry I know I have a laundry room floor. Lots and lots of loads to wash. It isnít all dirty clothes its rugs etc too.

I havenít shared before but while we have been gone my youngest DS has been trying to ride his adult trike almost every day and really really trying to eat better and it is paying off he has lost about 50 pounds. I am so anxious to see him and so proud. He started out at 385 and is down to 330 last report. I started out trying to be a good influence for both my sons and now they are my influences. Every time I want to be lazy I think of them and I get motivated. I did get out and walk this morning for the first time in a couple of weeks. I layed low and didnít do anything the last week in Texas (with the UTI) so now it is back to work on myself. I will start back to the fitness center tomorrow also and then look for places to ride my bike. I donít know if I am up to all the steep hills around here and definitely know I donít want to ride on the gravel roads. Also I need to get a bike carrier too.

I wonít try and respond to everyone so will start reading posts again when things are more caught up.

I need to scoot washer has finished. Also need to get to the post office and pick up our mail.

I go by the name of PJ and live north of KC, MO. Winter in East Texas.

Onward and Downward

Its always too soon to quit.

It may take me longer to get to my goal than my original plan but I will get there.

emoticon everyone!! It's going to be another hot sunny day here.

Pat, with all your experience baking you could make it a second career. emoticon

Sharon, we don't have carpets....so no carpet cleaning for us. The high humidity and no air conditioning make for lots of mold growing on them. I have terrible allergies so we have all tile floors.

TB, I never rode without a helmet either. And after hearing your doctorīs comment, I certainly never would again!!! Stark reality. It's nice that you guys are supporting your fellow rider by wearing pink. I hope there is someone around so you can ride again soon.

Tammy, the school year in the states is over pretty soon, isn't it? Do you work during the summer?

Louise, I'm glad the weather was nice enough (50s and 60s) to get outside.

WG, how fun to have all those grandkids to enjoy. We only have one son, and he doesn't seem to be in any hurry to settle down and have kids.....so it may be a wait for us. Actually I am thankful, because in the Latin culture men don't think twice about having kids without a relationship.....or having a "second family" for that matter. emoticon

PJ, I hope you made it home safely.

We decided on a "mini revolution" and took our ugly skirts to a seamstress to have them modified. They look much better....but still nothing I would choose. We already have our "white lie" rehearsed....that our skirts were way too short for the three of us (they were made long distance, never tried on, and our instructor never saw them on us).

Well, Thursday is our last day of school before having off for "Holy Week". Yesterday we dyed Easter eggs (it's not a custom here, so the kids absolutely love it) and we have our Easter egg hunt/Easter party Thursday. I've made the cupcakes and frosting and they are in the freezer. I bought a kilo of fondant from my cake decorating instructor and the kids are going to make Easter decorations (from little molds) to put on top of their cupcakes. I saw a cute idea on pinterest where kids plant "magic jellybeans" and lollipops "grow" from them, so we planted our jelly beans yesterday. emoticon

Hi, Seesters!

I have been on the go for most of my day "off" - DSis put me on as a complementary member to her Sam's card, so I went and gave the necessary info to get my card - and then met DD for moral support as she had an obgyn procedure done [kind of an owie, but a preventative measure as a result of a pap test result] and then took her to lunch - then piano, then a grocery store stop as DSon and DIL will be here tomorrow evening for a cookout, but I work tomorrow so I wanted to get all the necessary items today. NOW I can cook dinner and then relax a bit.

The time spent with DD was nice. Perhaps she is growing up some. Fingers crossed.

I will check back in tomorrow - it is easy to do when giving exams.

Nope...I just cleaned up the yard. It never surprises me how many broken tree branches there are to clean up after winter. Picked a good time to stop because as I was putting my tools away it started to sprinkle then stopped just as fast as it started.

We had a guest speaker at quilt guild last night. Showed us lots of log cabin quilts and all kinds of variations. I was good and only came home with ideas...I'm saving my trouble for Shipsee...lol

Have a great night.....I'll be off to watch Kami soon then to visit my mom.

Afternoon, ladies!!

Been another busy day....I've baked 2 apple cakes for the museum and they are so good. I've got to freeze them right away or I'll get into them.

Weezie2, did you get into any trouble? emoticon emoticon You probably didn't because TB wasn't there!!! LOL!! Love you, TB!! emoticon

SS, how do you like the cleaned carpet? The last time I had ours done we had a friend come and do it. She owns a carpet cleaning business and she didn't charge me very much at all. She isn't in that business any more so the next time I'll have to do it or hire it done! When do you all leave AZ?

TB, our weather is supposed to get better.....I won't hold my breath! Glad you are enjoying Big Red!!

WG, it is amazing how we can see our children in their children. Brooke and Luke are just exactly like our DS! Glad that you are enjoying your grand kids. They are God's reward for letting our teenagers live!!

PJ, are you home now? Hope so!

Weezie, hope you have enjoyed your day off and all the things you wanted to do!!

Now I've got to start supper!

Good Morning!
Yup, carpet cleaning this morning. Got to get busy as today is our last Girls Time Out Luncheon. It will be a smaller group but several of the ladies are year round residents.

It will be back up in the 90's for the next three days and then back to the 80's this weekend.

Sharon: I've always been happy with the Bissell rug steamers. I used to hire professional cleaners but liked the results I got with mine (better). I think the difference is probably because they rush and I take the time the job requires.

LG: Our weather is pretty much as miserable as yours. emoticon Will we ever get our beautiful, sunny, warm spring weather?

WG: Congratulations on the new babe; she sounds lovely.

Nope - I didn't ride yesterday. Penny is still away and will be until the 16th, the person I was supposed to ride with cancelled so Red and I were all alone at the stable. It was kind of nice, actually. He had his treats, I groomed him, we did a little bit of ground work and then I just puttered ...

I really enjoy ground work so I don't mind not riding sometimes. We have been mainly working on the lunge line - that's where the horse is on the end of a long line and goes in circles around the trainer. Red really likes it because I allow him to play for a while before we settle down to work. He loves to run, buck, and kick his heels in the air (literally) and he can do none of those things when I'm riding. I enjoy watching him because he's obviously having so much fun. ... Then we work.

The drill team is meeting with a local business today to pitch the idea of a corporate sponsorship. I think most of us plan to attend; it will be interesting. I have no idea how it will go.

After the meeting I'll stop by the stable to give Red his supplements and have a visit.

I'd better run. I have things to get done before I leave. Have a good day everyone.

Quick drop in Seesters. Stayed late to play with the baby and DD. They are cute parents. While I was there, the other kids showed up and I send DS#1 to the house on his way here to pick up some Easter Candy for the kids. It works well to have at least a little treat.

The baby is beautiful. She looks very much like her mama did when she was born. This is why it so much fun to see the children your children have. I see so much of DD there and can't help but love this little one.

The kids had fun and we got pictures of the three babies already born together. The size difference is huge right now. Fabio was touching the babies as they looked so interesting. It bothered the mothers, but he wasn't going to hurt the baby. Just wanted to touch.

Off to bed.

PJ, safe travels.

SS, I gave up getting the carpets cleaned and do it myself (not so much now that the floor is all hardwood, but I have nice carpet cleaners. And I had my carpets cleaned professionally for years because the family owned a business. Not a huge difference and I cleaned them a lot more often that way.

LG, glad you had a great birthday. It is fun to spend time with friends.

TB, you are wise to be careful. Weren't you riding today?

Tammy, you do make me feel bad that I have a total weed bed because there was no time last year to garden.

Jo, Becky, Weezie, Weezie2, and others, Have a good day.

Good evening, ladies.....been busy doing nothing today!! Went to lunch with a friend for my birthday and she gave me a pot of tulips that are beautiful. She is such a dear friend and such a talented artist. We had a good time.

Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes! It was a nice quiet day. We are going to celebrate with the family on Friday evening.

It's been raining here all day and it is very cool and I've been miserable with me joints. When I finish I plan to go hit the couch with the hot pad!!

SS, glad that you and Norm are helping this lady with her remodeling projects. Do you "rent" Norm out? emoticon I could use a handy man!!

PJ, safe travels to you and I know how you feel about getting home. But usually I enjoy every minute that we are away!

TB, enjoy your riding and keep us posted!

WG, did I read it right that you have another Princess in the family?? SO much fun with the babies!

Tammy, you have me itching to get outside and pull weeds and plant!!

Weezie, enjoy your day off tomorrow! I know that Gary is off and I'm sure that you'll both have a great time.

Well, I'm heading to the couch......

Good Morning!

I am glad to have the weekend behind us! But Norm is so close to being done. The Cupboards are looking good. On Sunday we will go back for the last time and do a few finishing things that she wants Norm to do before we leave. She has decided to wait on replacing the laundry room floor until we come back.

WG - Sun City is only about 25 miles from our resort but we need to take three major highways to get there right through Phoenix. I can take any where from 50 - 90 minutes depending on accidents and flow of traffic.

Every thing gets so dirty from the AZ dust so I got estimates from carpet cleaners for the carpets and couch in our MH. I was appalled as they ranged from $125- $175! For crying out loud! The bedroom is only a strip of carpeting around the bed. So I borrowed Laura's Bissell Rug Cleaner and Norm and I will be attempting to do it ourselves. How hard can it possibly be to do? I just hope it does a good job!

PJ- Happy Trails to you!

TB - smart decisions about riding with a helmet and NOT riding alone! Keep making good decisions as we don't want to hear about a bad accident!

Tammy - you definitely have the spring planting bug! I am anxious to return home and see how our plants and trees are doing. The small pine tree we planted took a winter beating. From the video our neighbor sent, it looks like the heavy snow has really bent the tree. It may not survive!

LG - I am sorry I missed your Birthday! I hope you enjoyed it and Happy Belated Birthday!

Heading north to home this morning in a couple of hours (after daylight) so I may not be back for a couple of days. I am so ready to go home and see my family and little Jackson (GGS) walking probably running by now.

I have not been exercising much the last week so need to get back into a good routine after I get home of going to the gym, walking and riding my bike. I don't do any of these from the house except walking some since we live on gravel roads. But will decide on a few trails to ride on that are close.

I go by the name of PJ and live north of KC, MO. Winter in East Texas.

Onward and Downward

Its always too soon to quit.

It may take me longer to get to my goal than my original plan but I will get there.

Good evening all:

Becky: I took a belly dancing course once. Unfortunately, I have no sense of rhythm. It was not a pretty sight emoticon I hope the costume works out, but I agree - too big is much better than too small.

Our drill team will be doing (mainly) exhibitions this year although we have a big competition in September. So many of our team are new that we all need the experience without the pressure of frequent competitions. Maybe next year.

Bonny: emoticon

Tammy: Family relationships - nobody knows what goes on behind closed doors; what appears to be 'normal' may not be the true picture. What you see on the surface is not necessarily what you get.

Sharon: Norm seems to be enjoying his renovation jobs even though I'm sure they're tiring for both of you emoticon I think that helping friends is a real way of 'paying it forward'.

WG: Is this your DD's first child? I remember thinking stuff like that when I was pregnant the first time ... fantasy is fun, isn't it? emoticon

PJ: I'm glad you're sleeping better.

Lily: You absolutely must take advantage of your free training session. Free is good!!!

Today was a good day although I didn't get home until after 5:30.

The drill team practice was first on the agenda but the first 45 minutes turned into an impromptu meeting; planning costumes etc. I discovered today that the pink theme was in support of breast cancer. One of the members had a double mastectomy last year and one of the founding members died of it a couple years back; so - pink it is. But ... we're looking at buying: matching chaps (black leather), t-shirts, hoodies, show shirts, saddle pads, helmet covers *gulp* The group is hoping to find a corporate sponsor to offset some of the start-up costs and we're to attend a meeting on Tuesday to pitch the idea. I sure hope it works because all of that adds up to $$$$

I was happy that there was no talk of cowboy hats instead of helmets; that would have been a deal breaker for me. I've seen way, way too many TBIs (traumatic brain injuries) to consider not wearing a helmet. I know people have the "right" to choose ... but a doc I worked with said it best when he asked ... "and who do you want to change your diaper after your brain injury?" Shocking but true.

After practice/meeting I went to the stable and spent a couple hours with Red. He had his healthy (alfalfa cubes/carrot/apples) treat while I groomed him. I even trimmed his raggedy mane; it was my first time attempting this so it's not the best job in the world but (as with people's haircuts) the difference between a good cut and a bad one is ... well ... 3 weeks?!?

I didn't ride because I was all alone at the stable and even with a good boy like Red that's just dangerous, but we did a bunch of ground work, all of which is equally important as riding.

Tomorrow, I'm riding with one of the other boarders - that should be fun.

Hello to the two Weezies, Jo, and everyone I haven't mentioned.

Talk to you soon.

Hi, Seesters!

WG, "her child will never make mistakes" emoticon

It is cool, but not raining here, so I am tolerating it!

I planted my Tristan strawberries and my blueberry shrub in their patio pots and set them in their "holding room" along with the others waiting on the weather to be warmer. The nursery sent me some "extras", so I sowed them -some tomato seeds and some shamrock bulbs- so we shall see what I got for "free."

Note - if you make the Hawaiian Crockpot Chicken going around on FB, do not cut the chicken into chunks or else adjust the cooking time. DH wouldn't eat...and he eats almost everything. I thought it was tolerable under the circumstances, but just adjust or watch it better than I did. I would definitely use the non-chicken ingredients as a sauce, though.

Well, I shall go for now and get a walk underway. Some ibuprofen has taken care [well, maybe HELPED to take care] of the foot/knee situation for now. Have a good afternoon/evening, Seesters!

My name is Tammy and I live in SW Missouri.

Good morning. It is gloomy today but it is a lovely day anyway.

Happy Birthday LG! Hope your day is wonderful.

Becky, what an interesting way to find people. Women generally are more inclined to give directions based on landmarks while men give directions based on distance and directions. It should be fun and easy to find. I'm glad the skirt is a little large. It is better than a little small. I hope it turns out OK when you finally perform.

SS, it is wonderful of Norm and you to go and help a friend. I know you will be blessed for helping her. How far is the drive?

Last night with the girls was fun. DD who is due any day is very intolerant of the grands and is certain her child will never misbehave. To be honest, the kids did get carried away. They tend to do that when they get together. That is why I just make some places off limits.

Have a wonderful day all.

We are off once again to Sun City. As I've said before, Norm doesn't mind the work but neither of us enjoy the drive back and forth.

emoticon .everyone!!

TB, I love your profile picture....and the horse stories. I had a horse in high school and participated for years in horse shows around the Canal Zone. Maybe when I retire I'll buy a horse and keep it on our farm. emoticon

WG, 50 shades of gray???? It sure makes choosing colors difficult, doesn't it? My brother just painted his house two tones of bright blue and yellow with red trim. It looks like a house you'd find in the Caribbean emoticon . Since streets in Costa Rica don't have names and houses don't have numbers, it is really easy now to give directions to our house since we're right across the street.

Tammy, you hit the nail on the head with your comment about lots of family relationships not being what you thought were normal. I would guess that that number would be at least over 50%....from personal experience. I guess we have to work with what we have.

PJ, have a safe trip home. I joined you in "no sleep" last night. Some very inconsiderate neighbors had a LOUD karaoke party until 3:30 in the morning. Supposedly it's illegal to cause such a scandal after 11:00....

Pat, you definitely should take advantage of the personal trainer. I bet they are expensive in the gyms in the states. If you ever wanted to change professions, you could become a baker!! That's a lot of baking....and the apple loaves sound wonderful.

Weezie, I hope the rain has let up. We've had such a long dry season this year that I miss the sound of rain on our tin roof.

Sharon, I will definitely share a picture of our belly dance skirts next Sunday.. Our presentation is Thursday night and we leave early Friday morning for San Gerardo de Dota. We'll be back Sunday evening. I tell you....I don't see ANY redeeming factor for the skirts. My two dance companions are equally aghast. I've lost a few pounds since giving up sugar for Lent, and when we were practicing with the skirts on Friday, my skirt fell down. It's a good thing I tried it out....I have time to take it to a seamstress to have it taken in a little.

Today is the second presidential election in Costa Rica. One of the two candidates in the runoff election dropped out, but the constitution states that they still have to have a runoff. It's a shame because of the expenses that could be saved.

Good Evening!

It's been a long day of work for Norm. We were in Sun City again today and with mine and Laura's help, we managed to get the shed assembled. What a job out in the hot sun! We are going back tomorrow as Norm is going to build new cupboards in her laundry room and a few other little projects. We're just running out of time. She wanted new flooring in her laundry room before the washer and dryer is moved in but it may just have to wait until we come back. We're playing it by ear. But tonight we are so tired, we took showers and are relaxing with an Atkin's Caramel Latte Shake and some cantaloupe and cottage cheese. Neither of us felt like a cooked meal.

Good evening ladies.

Thanks for your encouragement SS and Pat. I try to keep walking and hope it will help me in the long run. We're leaving tomorrow morning for Gulf Shores and, sad to say, let the eating begin. I will try my best not to eat badly every day. lol

My best to you all!
