WooHoo SS. Good for you.

Tammy, sounds like a wonderful day. I love those days when things come together.

I feel the need to make vacation plans in the future. I'm accumulating lots of vacation time and need to "spend" it. Will have fun, I'm sure.

I'm off to bed. About 4 hours last night. Have a nice day tomorrow. I'm taking veggies and fruit to the work "superbowl" party. I'm still doing healthy.

Just in case I haven't patted myself enough on the back or in case you missed it, I lost 2.6 lbs this week which puts me in Onederland! I am so happy. I have been here before but not in the last 3-5 years. I would like to say I will never go back up over 200 with the Lord's help!

We went to the Cheesecake Factory to get out of the MH today. They have a Skinnylicious menu so I was able to order a salad that I enjoyed. Then Norm and I walked around the mall. I also got a 30 min walk in this morning between rain downpours so I'm good to go for the day!

LG - Congrats on your loss this week as well. Each and every loss is hard work!

Hi, Seesters! I see I am the first one here today - I hope you are all out having fun! I do just about have my steps in for the day, have done some grocery shopping, have worked on the second embroidered tea towl, so I would say I have made some progress.

PJ, I haven't heard of that particular type of supplement.

Have a good afternoon and evening!

Good afternoon Seesters. I'm done watching grands today although I'd planned to be done by 3. I had some errands I wanted to run. Oh, well. I'll survive. I had some fun with the babies and had a good visit with the children. It was nice to play with them.

Sorry you all are having bad weather. It was very nice today. I did go outside for a minute.

Love hearing about your exercise challenges. I hate it when it is too cold to go outside. I've had to walk while watching TV and do Leslie to get it done.

PJ, have had some Juice and Veggie supplements. Didn't see any difference from a regular multivitamin. If it tastes good and is well tolerated, it can't hurt.

Off to bed soon. I know it is early but I'm tired and have to work the weekend still. Got to finish laundry and I'm down for the night.

Hello, ladies,

well, I got the living room cleaned up and now to tackle the dinning room. Lots more to do in there but will do it as I can.

We are supposed to get snow this weekend and I really hope it doesn't materialize. I'm fine with no snow all winter.

Going to try to get to my sewing room tonight but might just curl up on the couch and read my book.

Good Afternoon!
It has been raining all day so far so I've been keeping busy inside the MH. I did a Sweatin to the Oldies dvd this morning but it didn't get me to my step goal. It recorded as 24 very active minutes. I'm hoping it will quit raining so I can get a walk in outside yet today.

Other than that not much happening today.

Very windy today haven't been sleeping much the last 2 nights so elected not to walk the trail this morning but did do my exercise class and had 2 different ladies join us. One was the neighbor.

Has anyone heard or used Juice Plus supplements?

Been trying to get here all day but every time, I get side tracked with something else. I'm on a team that we do a procrastination list each week. So I've been saying that I want to clean out the drawers and cabinets in my dining room and living room. Man, do I have a mess!! Most of it is still on the floor of the living room. I'm getting things together that I will take to a resale shop and make a little money to buy.....drum roll.....fabric!!! Yesterday, got the baby blanket done and then found out that my niece had her baby. It's a girl. My other niece will have a girl in April/May. Then another is due in August. So many blankets.....

Got the part for my computer and they will have it done either Sunday/Monday!! WOO HOO!!

Brooke, had a bb game last night....they lost and she fouled out. So a pretty rotten evening.

WG, the overtime is nice but hard to do. Get some rest.

Becky, I love your "tales" of CR!!! Keep them coming.

Sharon, way back about 3 years ago at Lent, I did the old fashioned fasting that we used to do in the Catholic Church. It was HARD!!! But I did it dropping 20 lbs. But I so had one day per week (usually Saturday) that I ate mostly what I wanted. It worked. So I'm working on getting back to that. I only have 1 snack per day now (an apple) and I weigh and measure most of my food. I'm just hoping for at least 1/2 lb loss. I know that you are doing so well and that chicken thigh and carrot cake won't do you any harm.

Judy, emoticon emoticon for you and Joshua!! Keep us posted.

PJ, glad that Frank is getting out to fish so he can fill your freezer!! And that you are enjoying your time.

Got to run.....

Hi, Seesters!

Weezie, love your RCIA story...I am glad you shared it here. Enjoy your weekend!

Becky and WG, I have never heard of "hot pots" before...except an electrical appliance that I had in college in 1977 to heat water for soup and tea in my dorm room. emoticon

Thanks for the thoughts for DB and his echo- today. He was told in Aug?Sept? that 30% of his heart was working - I know that isn't really a statement that the rest isn't, but the amount of blood being pumped, etc. He was unofficially told today that it looked better than that today.

I have been pretty useless today - I guess I just needed a day like that. Perhaps tomorrow and the rest of my weekend will be better.

Hello to you all!!!

Well we had an ice day today and I ended up going to the dentist at 11:30 and never did go to work. I don't anyone did. So be it. It was nice. I've done a number of things which was nice!

I had a crown put on about a month ago and the last couple of weeks I've had some issues. I've barely tried to chew on that side as it hurt and I've had a dull tooth ache for several days requiring ibuprofen to keep it from getting out of hand. So today I went back, had an X-ray and some conversation. He did change the bite a bit and fix a tooth I somehow chipped recently. I'm gonna just see how this goes for now and hope I won't need a root canal.

Last night DH and I met with the Priest. He'd emailed indicating he'd like to meet to 'finish' up the process of things. Both DH and I have had our first marriages annulled (so I can join the church) and last night we were told the two ways we could go about getting our marriage 'recognized' by the church. One, of course, was to go through another wedding. I think Fr. Ken knew we'd choose option 2 and there was conversation together and individually and a Petition was completed that will be submitted to the Bishop to sign which will recognize our marriage back in 2008. I think he called it a radical senation (not sure that's how it is spelled). So anyway, once the Bishop signs, all behind the scene things are done and I will renew my baptism vows at Easter, get confirmed and then it will be acceptable to get communion. I'm looking forward to this but the process and how this church does RCIA has been unique from what I've heard from others.

Now I want to go see if I can get my new machine to embroider a little something. I have many projects I'm working on and trying to knit again. After switching to larger needles, it is going better. Thank goodness. I was about ready to give it up!

Do hope you are all doing well and I did read through the thread. I'll check back again this weekend. Get Ava tomorrow night for the evening and the weekend we are free short of a surprise 40th birthday party. Should be fun!

Another beautiful day here so will be outside again as soon as I get done Sparking and eating a bit of lunch.

Becky The tamale class was good. We were even able to wrap some ourselves and taste after they cooked. I have made them before with problems so I now have some ideas of what to do to improve them next time. And she did mention banana leaves but I believe in this part of the country corn husks are easier to find and less expensive. Spanish class well I still feel like No Espanol.

WG hope you got a good nights sleep. You have such long a tiring hours.

Sharon I did my house cleaning this morning too after Frank left to go fishing

Good Morning!

I have the entire day to myself as Norm went to Apache Junction to a Woodcarving show. He has several entries so perhaps he'll win another ribbon! So what to do with all my free time. I guess I'll make sure I clean the MH and take a walk!

Becky - Bailey is 13 yrs old and she's been sickly her whole life. She's a small beagle and the vet said because of all her interbreeding to make her small, it has weakened her system. He said we would be lucky to get 10 years with her. The fact that she's going on 14 just shows how my DH loves and adores her. She is his baby and he takes good care of her. I never had pets growing up so it's hard for me. I like Bailey and have enjoyed many things about having an indoor pet but the dirt and hair is not one of them! Years ago we visited Costa Rica while on a cruise. I would have loved a guided tour! I remember we went on a Rain Forest tour which Norm really enjoyed.

WG - I agree that you work long hours. I remember how tired my ex-SIL used to be after a 12 hr shift of nursing. You rarely get a chance to sit down so you have to be used to walking and standing, both of which would be a challenge for me! BUT, I've been walking a lot lately and who would have thought it!

Judy - what another wonderful opportunity for Joshua and yourself! He's so lucky that you are willing to uproot your life and go with him to fulfill his dreams! It will be fun to hear all about it. And Matthew McConaughey! That's a big star movie!

WG, I am so impressed with how hard you work, take care of your family and "grands", have hobbies, and are so positive and supportive of everyone. You deserve a prize!! emoticon

And speaking of your work.....my friend has worked in marketing forever, but is out of work and hasn't been able to find a job. At 52 she is considering going into nursing because she feels that she will always have a job and she won't be discriminated against because of her age. As a nurse, do you think what do you think?

Judy, how exciting for you and Joshua!! That sounds like such a fun opportunity.

Tammy, it's better that your DD found out that nursing wasn't for her so early on (and with a complete refund). It takes some people longer to find out what they want to do with their lives than others. I studied range science, worked as a probation officer, in environmental education and lots of other unrelated fields until I "discovered" (and studied) Montessori. I hope your DB's echocardiogram comes out normal.

PJ, how did your tamales come out? Costa Rican tamales are wrapped in banana leaves instead of corn husks. ¿Y la clase de español? Thank goodness your DS's fiancee is recuperating and that they are trying to work things out.

Pat, I read "The Orphan Train" and loved it. I'm reading "The Path Between the Seas" on the building of the Panama Canal right now. Your hand must have gotten a month's worth of exercise making all those pies and the chicken and noodles.

Weezie, I love your story about what led you back to the Catholic church. God does work in mysterious ways!! And your DH should consider being a detective if his day job ever falls through. emoticon I can't believe he was able to track that photo down. I'm so glad your DS found such a perfect house for rsising his family.

Sharon, how old is Bailey? Our dog is 8 and he had a cancerous tumor removed from his chest a few months ago. He is our first dog and I can't believe how much joy (and hair) he has brought into our home. Let me know when you're free to visit Costa Rica and I'll set up a tour for you, too. emoticon

Good evening Seesters. I'm home from work. This was one of those "extra" days and I worked all 12 hours so at 9 am on Saturday I'll be into overtime and get another 8 hours of overtime. Nice pay but I'd just as soon stay home. Not too bad compared to Monday so I'm good.

I'm tired and am working again tomorrow so it is off to bed for me very soon.

Becky, I love your stories.I'd love to sit in a hot pot with rain pouring down. There is a chain of natural hot pots from Yellowstone to south of my house. Occasionally one can find the pots and they are often used for either swimming pools or just local hot tubs. I love visiting gardens. I'm sure your friend's father enjoyed the tour as well.

PJ, sounds like you are having a great time. I'm glad your son and his girlfriend are working things out. It was an unusual situation and they had not had time to make plans or decide how to deal. It was bold of him to step up and I'm glad he was able to do so.

Enjoy your lessons.

SS, sounds like your day was a good one. Carrot cake is always very rich. That's why it is so good. Enjoy your exercise.

LG, glad you are getting a stronger hand. It will continue to improve but may not be where you need it in time for the pie making. I'm sure you will work it out.

Weezie2, so glad your Mom was more herself. It is good that you go so regularly. Have fun with the children tomorrow.

Tammy, I'm glad you gave time to this woman. I'm sure she appreciates it and you are truly encouraging her to improve. How long was the rest today?

I'm glad DD was able to back out before she lost money. She will be fine but will have to figure out what she wants to do. I have a friend with an associates in nursing and a masters in gerentology. It works.

I'm off to bed. I need to do a couple of rows on the sweater and add the sleeves and get things together.

Have a nice day.

The weather has been great here the last couple days and I took advantage. It's nice to get out and walk instead of in the house. My outside will be short lived cold weather is on it's way back with a vengeance, so the weather man says.

I've been keeping this low key, but I think I can let the cat out of the bag. Several weeks ago Joshua and I submitted pictures and information to a casting call for an upcoming movie staring Matthew McConaughey. It is set in the Civil War era. They reached out to use and asked for our information. There have been over 7,000 people submit and we are down to the, we are in group, just don't know what parts or when. It is supposed to start shooting 2/21/15. Depending on what parts we get, we may be in Louisiana for a couple months because they want us to be what they call "core/feature background". Don't know if we will have lines or just be there. Anyway this is a great opportunity because being "featured" usually guarantees you are not cut from the end production and are actual on the big screen when the movie is released. This is how a lot of people starting out in this business get their break, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Joshua. I will know when we go in the next week or so. Beside work, this is the only thing going on here.

I need to get to the kitchen. Y'all have a wonderful evening!

Good Afternoon!

I spent the morning with one of my GF's. We had a nice chat and then went to see Annie. The movie was fun entertainment and we both enjoyed it. When I got home Norm was waiting and we went to the Golden Corral. So LG, my calories are up today whether I decided to or not! I mostly ate a nice big salad with Fat Free Dressing. I did indulge and ate a fried chicken thigh and had a very small piece of carrot cake for desert. Not good but oh so much better than the old days!

Now I have to catch up on my Sparking and go get some exercise. For something different, I may walk to the exercise room and do the elliptical for as long as I can (which won't be very long!)

Weezie2 - I'm glad you were early enough to enjoy your mom and it sure sounds like she enjoyed your company as well.

Tammy - it's nice that you are willing to walk with Kathy. With all her health issues, I'm sure you have to adjust so that is nice of you. It also encourages her to walk as well.

PJ - I'm glad you could spend some time with Roger & Eileen. They are such a nice couple!

Becky - you are being a great tour guide! I want to come and visit you. I know your friend is really enjoying her time with you and it's nice you can go visit some new things as well. I loved picturing you walking through the rain forest, then sitting in the steaming water with the rain pouring down! How fun!

Hi, Seesters!

Just got back from a stroll through the hallway with a nontraditional student, Kathy. She walked one lap with me on Monday and one lap on Wednesday. That is a wonderful accomplishment for her. She has lots of health issues, but is getting healthier and we visit about healthy living topics, etc. I shall need to walk the rest of my steps when I get home, but it shall be warmer at that time of day, anyway.

DD dropped out of her BSN program after the first week, after a lengthy conversation with DH over the phone on Sunday afternoon. She does still have her full time job and by dropping when she did, she is not out any extra funds. "This is not for me" was what she said to me before I had her talk to DH. She still has her full time job, she still has the boyfriend, she still wants to get a bachelor's degree - just not in nursing. I guess the highest point is that she got 100% refund - well not out any loan funds, anyway - I was absolutely flabbergasted. However, I have dealt with much worse with her, so I shall just think "It is what it is" and go on.

I have one more class to teach today until Monday, I know DB got himself a ride for his eccocardiogram tomorrow at his local hospital, I know I am going to go out walking after work today...so I guess I am doing okay! emoticon

I missed checking in yesterday. We had a perfect day visiting with Eileen and Roger (She is on the RV Enthusiasts Team and hubby) Food was delicious topped off by Eileens dessert, Yummy and the weather was picture perfect.

This morning I have been for my walk and Spanish class. This afternoon is another demo day and learning how to make tamale using foil instead of corn husks and information about the local vegetables.

I haven’t been in touch with DS much leaving them alone but do know they are back together trying to work things out. I hope they can.

Need to grab some lunch and get back to rec hall.

Weezie2, glad that mom was feeling better last night and you were able to make her laugh. That is always a plus!!

Becky, sounds like so much fun...hiking in the rain forest and soaking in hot springs! I think we need a road trip!!

Sharon, I too am wondering if I need to get my calories up one day per week. Years ago I did that and it worked like a charm! Maybe we should just "bite the bullet" and try it!

Did some sewing yesterday and when my hand began to hurt I quit. I'm reading a great book (actually almost finished) called "The Orphan Train". Really an awesome book. It is fiction but based on fact. We have another bb game tonight and it will be another late night. UGH!! But I must admit I wouldn't want to miss it.

Got to run..... emoticon

Should be a fun day here. I'm heading up to Kelly's and we're going to her friends house to make salt dough handprints with all 3 kids. The oldest one who's 3 wants to bake today...brings back so many fun memories.

I went to visit mom early last night. She was half asleep in her chair but at least she was in the activity room. She perked right up when she saw me. I had her laughing quite a lot last night. It was nice to see her in a great mood.

Have a Great Wednesday!

Good morning everyone!! I hope no one is dealing with the horrendous winter weather. On the news it looks downright scary.

I have been busy playing tour guide for my friend.....and now it's time to go back to work. School starts on Monday and there is SO much left to do. And we have been having so much fun that it's going to be hard to switch to work mode.

We went to a hot water spring that I had never been to the day after she got in. You hike ten minutes down a trail in the middle of the rain forest to get to some rustic thermal water pools. It was pouring the entire time which made sitting in the hot water much more enjoyable. There's nothing like sitting in steaming water the middle of the rain forest in a tropical downpour!!!

I took my friend on a quick beach weekend trip since school starts next week. We went to Jaco since it is so close (we didn't want to spend two whole days in the car to spend one day at the beach). The beach (being one of the closest to San José) is ugly and it is always packed. And it's like a small city....you can barely cross the streets with all the traffic. I am shocked that people come from all over the world to visit Costa Rica and so many of them end up in Jaco. We did enjoy some great food though....lots to choose from. I had falafel and hummus one day and a vegetarian burrito the next. Those are hard food items to find in restaurants here....and I love them!!!!

The place we stayed was nice....it was out of town and had a 5 acre garden with lots of birds and beautiful plants. My DF's Mom had an orchard garden in the Canal Zone so she really enjoyed strolling around checking them out. She took her laptop around giving her Dad a tour.

I hope to catch up on all the posts later. emoticon

Hi, Seesters!

Weezie, love the story and the fact that the house sold! Woohoo!

LG, “peeled” and “cleaned”? My word! My hand is hurting just thinking about it, and I haven’t just had surgery…

Weezie2, if I ever attempt knitting again, I shall have to remember your tips.

Low carb…I would be a very cranky Tammy if I did that. I know, because I have tried. I am actually a very cranky Tammy today, but no one but y’all know it…I have just kept my mouth shut today…I just feel cranky all over, but tomorrow shall be another day. I didn’t sleep well last night – other things on my mind, as happens sometimes – but it did feel better on the new mattress.

PJ, what’s the news on DS and possible fiancé? Yes, yes, yes, they are always our kids…

WG - I was complaining to my DH this morning that I just can't seem to get into Onederland and I'm frustrated. He mentioned the same as you. He thinks I'm not eating enough and suggested I eat at the higher end of my range for a couple days. I know in my head that you are both right but it is difficult to eat more and worry that my weight will go up more! BUT, today I am going to actually eat a bun with my burger! No fries, just fresh veggies though.

LG - I have IBS and often have bad bathroom habits! However, since I've cut my carbs so low I haven't had any flare ups. It's wonderful to not have to run to the Restrooms where ever I go! I'm only supposed to eat 2 oz protein at lunch and dinner but that isn't very much! If I eat a little more at one meal, I go without at the next. It's all about balance but the dr suggested the lower amts as protein is so hard for the liver to process. No more 16 oz rib eyes in my future - LOL!

Went for a manicure this morning and was glad I did. Nails looked awful. It snowed here but not enough to matter.

Sharon, I can't do real high protein....just doesn't work with the Crohns disease. Too much and I'm in the bathroom all the time. I'd like to be able to get my carbs down to 100-125 but hard to do. You are doing wonderful and I'm sure that you'll succeed! Sodium is another thing I have to watch closely.

WG, glad that your dinner went well. and BOO to the kids that trashed your office. Glad that you have the day off and that the house inspection will be over and you can close on the house. The other lady who helps with the pie crusts saw some thing on TV about mixing it in a mixer with a dough hook. We tried it and it worked! So we are going to do that and maybe save ourselves some time.

Weezie2, emoticon emoticon it's never easy to watch a parent go down hill. My mom had her mind right up to the end. She really didn't want to die but resigned herself to it. It was hard to watch her fight it. She finally mellowed out after being in the AL.

Now I've got to get busy. Need to sew!!

Good morning Seesters. I'm back from the inspection. The inspector knew my stepfather and had sprayed the house several times for spiders. He is a nice man and had nice memories of the family.

The kids were great. Took a movie on the tablet and the Gunslinger watched it during the inspection and while we were driving home. He is now into watching TV mode and will be peckish until I give in. I've been limiting him to a couple of shows a day as he is too sedentary and not interested in enough things. We are going to work on some other things now. I have some early readers and have the ability to work on the alphabet and numbers. We will make this work and he will learn if it kills both of us.

Weezie2, I'm so sorry your mother isn't herself, even her new herself. It is hard. I think sleeping a lot keeps people from having to worry about the things they don't understand any more. I hope she is happier tonight when you visit earlier.

SS, Keep plugging along. You might need to do some calorie range stretching to kick start things again. You can either eat very clean for a week or do some bouncing with the range. Sometimes eating at the top or slightly above your range for a couple of days. Then eat the the lowest end of your range for a couple of days. It tricks your body into thinking you are feeding it again and it will give up trying to keep you alive by holding onto the calories.

LG, what are you doing differently with the pie crusts?

I'm off to play with the Gunslinger. Pocahontas and Princess Sofia may stop by for a few minutes in a bit. I miss visiting with them.

Have a great day all.

Good Morning!
We had quite a bit of rain overnight but this morning it's just overcast. I'm not sure I want to head out for a walk or if I'll dance with Richard this morning!

Weezie2 - My heart goes out to you as I remember the later years with my Dad and Norm's parents. It was difficult to see them slip into someone we didn't know. I am so sorry I lost my mom when she was only 59 but I didn't have to see her change as a person. Hugs, and enjoy her when she's not snappy!

WG - thanks for your kind words. I seem to be stuck with my weight so far this week but I am hoping it drops by Saturday! I'll keep working on it. I'm glad to hear everyone showed up for dinner and fun except the sickies! No sense passing that around.

Good morning

I'll be heading up later to this morning for some Claire and G'ma time. I stopped and had some Kami time on my way to visit my mom last night. I'm hoping it's just a winter attitude with mom and she snaps out of her foul mood. She was fast asleep by 7:15. The nursing staff told me she's been real snappy at them. I know it's part of the disease. I really miss the mom I grew up with. I will definitely get there much earlier tonight and see if I can get her mood in a better place.

Have a Great Tuesday!

Hi Seesters. I'm home from work and off tomorrow so I'm staying up a little extra. I'm scheduled to work on Wednesday but am just fine if I stay home for sure. I've got two of the grands tomorrow so it should be a nice day. They have fun here and we enjoy each other. I love that the ones I watch are very comfortable around me and enjoy me and I enjoy them. Time is so important, especially when they are little.

Had a good dinner yesterday. Everyone showed except Rafael and his Mama. They were ill and it is good to stay home. Sent home leftovers except for a little of the "creamy mushrooms" which was really mushroom alfredo. Very rich but tasty. Low carb but high fat.

We have been playing a new game, Timeline, which is a trivia game and takes about 10 minutes. The kids like trivia games and they had a great time playing together. SIL even enjoyed the time.

The big girls (6 and 7) were wild children and trashed my office and the back bedroom. They are naughty when Princess Purple is with them.

SS, you are doing exactly what is successful. People on a low carb (very low) and a high protein diet are able to lose weight. I've had a hard time living with that sort of eating plan, but that's me. Be sure to drink a lot as the protein tends to make more kidney stones than other diets.

I'm off to praise the dog for not running off then to knit. Want to block the sweater before I finish it. The instructions recommend it. I'm taking the grands up to do a termite inspection on the house. It will pass just fine. We should close in the next two weeks.

Have a great day.

LG - I LOVE carbs but I find I lose best when I keep them low. I try to shoot for 40-60 a day but if I have a bad day and go up to 150, I don't fret. I just know the scale will not go down and try harder the next day. I try to stick between 1100-1350 calories a day, most days on the lower end plus with my challenge I do 30 mins of very active exercise a day (does not include my steps). So I'm doing all I can do and praying the Lord continues to keep me motivated. No doubt our age is against us. I used to lose much easier in my younger years but we can't turn the clock back (darn!) so we have to do what we have to do! I don't have a problem with the protein but keeping my sodium under 2400 mg is a real chore for me!

Hello, ladies,

I'm on a run today....Brooke has another ball game and of course we are going. Worked at SVDP this morning and we had some good help for once!!

WG, I guess when I read your post I missed the "uncalling thing". You know, you are a good woman and no one can take that away from you!! I really think that things like that happen but the person who did the "uncalling" will get it in the end!! Keep your head up, my friend!!

Sharon, I've found that the older I get the harder it is to lose. You have to trick your body into a lot of different things. Do you track your carbs and if so, how many do you get per day? A friend tries to keep hers below 75 which I think is extreme but it is the only way she can lose and her doctor told her that would be OK. I'm shooting for less than 150. Got to work on protein too. Not getting enough at least according to SP.

Weezie...what kind of knitting needles are you using? The metal ones and using the right kind of yarn will help your stitches slide easier. I find I have a looser tension if I hold the yarn in my left hand too. Just a few ideas that might help.

I love looking through old photos. The memories are priceless. The connection between the 2 dates is no coincidence either emoticon

I have a catch up kind of day. Library books that need to be dropped off and grocery shopping are top on that list.

Have a Great Monday!

Morning on a Busy Monday!

Laundry day today but I'll go for my walk this morning and go to the laundry room later. It seems Monday is everyone's laundry day!

LG - I'm amazed you could do all that with your hand still recovering from recent surgery. You just keep on keeping on! I'm sorry you didn't have a loss this week. It gets more of a struggle every week for me. I just have more to lose than you!

Weezie - what a relief that your DS & DIL were able to sell their home and find a new one so quickly! It sounds like it's the perfect place for them to raise their family. Thanks also for sharing your story about the photo. I do believe we are all connected and there are lots of instances if we are open to see them.

WG - after all the work, I hope all the kids came and enjoyed the good food and each other!
That whole "calling" and "uncalling" was not handled well, IMHO! Just know you didn't do anything and it all reflects on the ones who did it. I'm just glad you won't be working with the lady involved.

Hello, ladies,

Having computer issues again but should be fixed in the next few days. Posting from Thomas'. He ain't happy!!

Went to Brooke's bb tourney yesterday. They lost the 1st game and won the 2nd. She fouled out in the 1st. Refrees were awful. Both coaches were bitchin' up a storm. At least they were awful for both teams!!

Sharon, you are doing so well with your WIs and mine was up yesterday. I was pi$$ed to say the least. I'm going to go to low carb and see if that will help. Not sure how my system will do with that.

PJ, SEK, Tammy, keep your wind!! It is cold enough here. I want Sharon to send her's here!!

Weezie, your story is awesome and you are so right....God does work in mysterious ways. I'm always amazed. Glad that you son/DIL found a house and their offer was accepted. This all sounds like when Jason/Stephanie were moving. They closed on their new house on one day and moved the next and closed on their old house the next day!

Spent the afternoon at the museum preparing for our pie baking! We peeled 50lbs. of apples and I cooked and cleaned 3 whole chickens (for chix & noodles). Chopped up nuts for pies and tested a new method of mixing our dough. It worked pretty good so I think it will be easier on us all. By the time we were done, my hand was hurting some. But I'm sure that I'll get "stronger" as we go.

Now I'm off.

Evening ladies,

Just wanted to pop in and let you know I'm still around. Yesterday was a go-go day and today a catch up day. Wish I had one more day to do what I wanted. LOL

WG, I admire you and your knitting. PJ too! I'm trying again and I am struggling as I do it too tightly and so it makes it difficult. I keep thinking I will loosen as I go but it ain't happening. I'm refusing to tear out and start over however. I am using smaller needles this time. Last time I used big and it was really loose. I think I preferred that over this. We shall see. I'm determined to use the entire ball of yarn. It is just a scarf so I can keep practicing.

Okay, I have to share this. I found it odd. So I shared that a little over a year ago I found a photo and card which was the catalyst for me to revisit the Catholic church. Well I have found the card but do you think I can find the photo? Nope. So I asked DH if he might be able since he took it. Well, understand this man has taken thousands of photos and through an email he figured it was taken sometime in 2003. I'd known him about a year and half by then. So he pulled out a box of all these photos he put on CD's and found the photo. Now the weird thing to me, of course, is it happened that we took my mom to visit her friend in Monroe, Michigan on August 23, 2003. There was no significance to this of course, just a day/time we could manage it back there. Yep, we found the photo and then I realized that we got married on August 23, 2008. So my heart says these two ladies were the ones that helped me find my way back and without even knowing, I married this man on the day they had their last visit five years earlier. God works in mysterious ways.

So I got the new cord for my little Brother embroidery machine but have yet to have time to make it work. I need to carve out some time for that this week. On my list of to-do's.

My older son and wife sold their home, the inspection went fine and they put a bid on a bigger house yesterday. They heard today their offer was accepted. I truly expected a counter but it has been on the market for 175 days and these folks have already moved to TX so maybe they were anxious. I'm tickled for them as it is a perfect place for them to raise their boys. 1.1 acres and nothing behind them, on a cul-da-sac and 2600 square feet of house. Hopefuly they can close on both at the same time (I think this will be a miracle) and get moved. Of course this couldn't happen during their summer or break times (both work in school system).

Oh, they took Kellan (he'll be 4 in March) to the ski slopes yesterday and he did it! I truly expected him to freak a bit with the boots but he was so very excited. Didn't fall once so I think he's hooked! It seems if you have a season pass (which my son does get) their kids, under 7, get free ski lift. So it cost $17 for ski rental which is affordable. I think they were just as excited that he took to it.

Not much else happening here. Work is work. The boss continues to have the I don't care attitude which has made life so much nicer. She'll be gone the entire last week of February so we are looking forward to that for sure.

Now I need to scoot. Hello to you all and do hope you have a great week ahead!!!

Hi Seesters. Dinner is on the stove. Chicken goes in the oven in 45 minutes and the rolls go in in an hour and a half. Dinner at 5 pm. Hoping it goes well. I think most of the kids are coming. DD#2 is always iffy and rarely sends "regrets." The others are good at doing so. I don't want to not prepare food for her but it is a bit distracting to worry about how many to seat and how much to prepare.

I got another call about my "uncalling." Apparently not everyone was told that I was "uncalled." This indicates some sheepishness about the whole thing. It's fine but it is a bit difficult for me to have to tell people that it happened. It often indicates a "problem" of a moral nature and will lend itself to speculation. Hate being the butt of gossip again.

At least I don't have to accept any more callings from that person. I'll survive the rest.

PJ, I'm knitting a doll sweater. Hoping to get one for each of the granddaughters. They are simple patterns. Only about 60 rows and not a lot of fussy stuff. I'm not up to cabling and not up to a lot of other stuff. I can follow instructions, though and the pattern said "simple." I tend to knit loosely, though, and am using small needles. Not sure it will meet the gauge. I'll have to fake it if it doesn't. The girls will be happy no matter what.

Have a nice day everyone. I've been outside a few times to enjoy the sunshine. Last night when I was coming home from the store, it was absolutely gorgeous. There were clouds and it was sunset. The clouds made the tops of the mountains dark and the setting sun made the base of the mountains dark. The middle was lit with a delicate pink and it was breathtaking.

It is one reason I love living here. I missed the mountains when I've lived in other places. I would go outside and look around some trees and could barely see the Sierra Nevada mountains when I lived in California and in Mississippi or Massachusetts, there were no mountains.

Have a nice day all.

Hello Ladies!

After a couple of very windy days, it is very still today! Beautiful blue skies and perfect temps in the mid 70's. I wish I could share with all of you. Norm is going to grill a steak for our dinner. I can only have 3 oz but it will be so good!

SEK - glad Mike got the cyst taken care of and is on top of any skin cancer. We have struggled with Norm in years past with skin cancer. The worst was the top of his ears. I may have already mentioned that! He had to have reconstruction surgery as they just wacked the tops of his ears off. No way! I sent him to my plastic surgeon for reconstruction!

SEK glad Mike’s cyst was not cancerous. Also good to hear the doctor is going to treat the skin cancer now rather than wait.

I went to church last night with my girls. Today will be a great day to stay in and catch up on things. We got a dusting of snow and the temp dropped at least 15 degrees.

Have a Great Sunday!

Just wanted to stop by quickly before I head out. I was going to walk but the wind has decided to blow mightily so I'm going to wimp out and drive to church. That's OK, what I don't do in walking I'll make up in cleaning. My house is a disaster, so that's how I'll spend the rest of my day.

Y'all have a splendid Sunday!

Looks like most here are doing well. I had to work today but wanted to stop by for just a minute.

Yesterday took Mike to the VA Hospital, he had a cyst on his back they removed, all is well, he goes back the 10th to have the sutures removed, thankfully I don't have to go with him for that. The doctor was going to send him to the office in Parsons, much closer, but then he decided to have him come back to Wichita so he can treat some of the skin cancer on his arms, he said might as well get it done.

Have a dog trying to get my attention so I guess I should go.

Y'all have a great night!

PJ - that would be wonderful if your DS and Finance can work it all out without disrupting the boys. Casey told his wife they couldn't get back together without counseling and it was the best thing for them! I hope it all works out as well for your son.

I took my usual walk this morning all bundled up it was 37 degrees and then the sun came out and the neighbor asked me to walk with her so I went for another one.

Texted my DS and he says he and fiancé have talked and are working things out. So hopefully they will continue to work at it. She is over her pneumonia and they have her scheduled to see a physciatrist next week (the same one DS has seen). And she is trying to quit smoking So maybe things are looking up for them. I hope so.

Tammy does this sound familiar to you? Kids.

Sharon I am so glad Bailey is not in pain. That vet and staff seems to be a great bunch.

Hi Seesters.

Good WI girls. This is a great thing. SS, you are inspirational for sure. Keep moving and going onward and downward. Your BP and sugars and even cholesterol should be improving.

Sorry Bailey is struggling. No pain is a good thing. Perhaps just aging? Whatever it is, it is not a bad thing to be comfortable and able to be with favorite people. It is harder for sure, but it is also rewarding when you look into that face.

Tammy, medicalese is always confusing. We talk about some things and I will watch the faces of my patients and families. When I get the blank stares or feel the room going fuzzy, I will ask questions and explain in plainer language. Sometimes some of the details get lost but the message will still get there.

I'm sorry you will be doing this for your mother as well in the near future. It would be nice if she found one doctor and one pharmacy. My mom did but wasn't open in a lot of things that would have made life better for all of us.

I'm off to throw a load in the washer and start the dishes. Kids coming tomorrow and I'll need to unroll the rugs and clean a couple. Fun times.

Morning!

Well, I eeked through another week with a 1.2 lbs loss! I was good last night knowing my WI was this morning!

Our challenge is going good and I'm proud to say all the girls from this team are sporting losses! Hang in there ladies, three weeks down and three more to go!

Tammy - I am so glad you are working with your DB to see he is getting the medical care he needs. I'm not sure what would happen if you weren't willing to drive the distance and help him! That is something you can feel good about no matter what the future holds for him! Have fun with your BF at lunch today. Saturday's, after WI is a good time to eat Mexican!

WG - Norm's nutritionist always said if she could she would tell us to never eat out due to all the hidden "stuff". There is a reason why the restaurant food tastes so good! However, I know that will never happen as Norm and I enjoy eating out too much to give it up. That being said, I have to learn to make healthy choices. I was pleased with a loss this week!

Weezie2 - I am glad you got some medical care for the eye! So much for self-diagnosis! I hope you feel better soon.

LG - It sounds like you were able to resolve the medication issue. I hope the change in meds work for you. If memory serves me correctly, they tried to switch your meds before and it was not successful. Good luck this time around. AND, good luck on your WI today! I hope you also have a loss!

We woke up to a Bailey accident this morning. She wet the floor or I should say my "rug". So Norm is outside washing the rug and her bed. She doesn't know it but she may get a bath herself this afternoon. She isn't eating very well and is losing weight. Every time Norm walks by the vet, either the vet or one of his girls rush out and talks to Bailey and suggest they get her weight. Everyone is giving her treats and trying to keep her weight up! We still don't know what is going on inside of her but she doesn't seem to be in any pain so that is a good thing.

Hello, Seesters!

I am going to have some fun today meeting with BF for Mexican food and visiting. I always look forward to these times. Since we ate out yesterday with DB, I guess I will be at my "2 times a week or less" emoticon I cannot believe now how often DH and I used to go out and eat before Sparkpeople/becoming more frugal in some areas to do more in other areas. Even once per week is more than we do unless we are out in the RV, and even that is less than it used to be.

The cardiologist determined that DB does not need to go on coumadin or a like medicine, and so now he is exploring the possibility of a defibrillator helping to prevent further cardiac arrests. It will be interesting if the 30% figure will have increased since he left the hospital in late August. I wish DB had followed up in the past and so possibly prevented some of this, but hindsight is always better, isn't it? I posted on another team thread of how confusing the medical-ese can be for non-medical folks even when they are in relatively good health. To my medical friends, that is not a criticism - the same is true for education-ese, which is true for me...My youngest sister and I will likely be going thru the same with my mom, who is one of those patients who hopped from doctor to doctor, pharmacy to pharmacy...

I have made bits of time work for me on the second of the embroidered tea towels. One more chili pepper got done yesterday! LOL! There is a set of three and 6 weeks from yesterday we will be in Pensacola...not that I am counting or anything...LOL!

Have a very good day, Seesters!

Hi Seesters. Home for the weekend and ready for bed. DS#4 will be by today or tomorrow. He has some mail he needs to pick up.

Tammy, good read on the dog. Mine wanted to go out in the night. I felt a bit guilty but didn't want her to run off so I kept her in. No new messes so it worked. Hope visit with DB and doctor worked out well. It is nice that he is getting some good help.

Weezie2, glad you went to the doctor. No sense in suffering longer than necessary.

SS, hope dinner doesn't derail your efforts. It is hard to keep on task when eating out. According to the National Weight Loss Registry the people who were most successful losing weight eat out 2 times a week or less. I think the "hidden" stuff is what does us in. Good weigh in tomorrow.

PJ, hope dinner was good. You have such fun meals. You have to be a great cook.

I'm off to bed in a few. Got to do a couple of things before then. Have a good night all.

I went for an eye exam today. I'm glad I went. All this time I thought I had a cold that settled in my eye and not much could be done for it. At least that's what I've been told in the past. I forget what the condition is called but I now have prescription eye drops that should clear it up shortly. Woo Hoo!

I just got home from watching one of my nieces play basketball. She'd the top scorer on her team so that makes it extra fun watching.

Have a Great Weekend

No walk this morning it was and is extremely windy here but at least the sun is now shining. May get out this afternoon. But I did do my exercise class so got some moving in anyway. Also did laundry.

LG glad you were able to find a solution for your meds.

Sharon keep on your toes while eating out today. Frank is going to have leftover Churchs chicken we have had in the freezer and I'm going to eat a leftover salmon pattie and veggies.

Have a good day everyone.

Morning!

Just a quick check in as I have a busy day ahead of me! I am looking forward to going out tonight with a new couple that moved in across the street from us. A nice couple! She is a diabetic so has helped me a lot this season. I am just not happy to be eating restaurant food the night before WI! So wish me luck! I have had a loss every week since Oct but this week it will be a miracle!

I went to see the doctor yesterday and I think we might have resolved the problem. She gave me 3 weeks of samples of Celebrax and after that I will go on Meloxicam. It is similar to the Celebrax. Much cheaper drug at $25. per month. That is my co-pay. I talked to my brother who is pharmacist and we talked about people not being able to afford their drugs. He did say that some pharmaceutical companies are getting better about helping people that can't afford their drugs....just not people on Medicare!! Amazing....really. It would make perfect sense to me to help these people out. I can't imagine what I'd be like if I couldn't take these drugs. I must say that Thomas and I decided that we'd pay the $178 per month until it got cheaper if we had to. Wouldn't be fun but we'd manage.

Tammy, 3 hours is a lot of driving. Thomas and I don't talk as much in the car. I like to read.
Hope that all goes well for your DB.

WG, drugs are a major headache. I simply can't imagine what it's like being a nurse and having to listen to people like me bitch about their drugs!! emoticon Sorry you are having to clean up carpets.

SS, I had a terrible day eat-wise yesterday too. Historical Society had their annual meeting last night and it was catered. Nothing was healthy. I ate as little as I could but I was starving by the time we got to eat. I did eat angel food cake so that wasn't so bad. I tracked as best I could and it wasn't pretty. I'm buckling down today. I also WI tomorrow.

PJ, glad that you are enjoying all the activities at your park.

I'm going to tackle this house today and get some cleaning done. I still didn't get the church laundry ironed so I've also got that done.

Hi, Seesters!

Sugar Dog awakened me the earliest that I have been since the new mattress arrived. Since it likely avoided a mess, I did not scold her and just got up and let her out.

We are taking DB to his cardiologist appointment today; it has been two weeks since DB saw the doctor, who comes to his little town the first Wednesday of the month, but the doctor wanted to review his records - which are many - and possibly put DB on coumadin to help prevent further clots/strokes. So we shall see what happens....3 hours both ways, but DH and I often joke that we talk more in the car than we do at home... emoticon

SS, I would swear I saw Norm's twin the other day here in our little town.

LG, hope that meds mess gets cleared up FAST!

Good evening. I'm stopping by for a minute and checking in. I'd be in bed but the computer had to upgrade before I could use it.

Judy, it is fun to take a break for a minute. Done for the year with school? What does he do now? Early college classes?

LG, that is ridiculous. Celebrex almost got taken off the market so we are lucky that it still is there. I think that price is ridiculous, though. Sounds like a scam not to let you use the $4 card. If you don't tell them what medical plan you use, can you use the card? How many pills is that? I hope you get it resolved. The new year always brings fun and interesting surprises.

PJ, I love that you try some new foods. Enjoy it.

SS, good for you finding a bargain.

Off to bed. No new dog gifts. Cleaned up some from yesterday. I'll be cleaning carpets this weekend and I don't have that many.

Have a great day tomorrow.

Got my walk in this morning, went to craft time at rec hall (walking there an back) and have the casserole ready to be baked for the potluck tonight.

The wind is getting stronger by the minute but no rain yet.

LG I hope you can figure something out on your Rx so you don’t have to pay the high price.

Our dinner was excellent last night. The salmon patties were so good (I did pay fry them in olive oil) and crunchy. The Freekah and rice was good too. It would be great with stir fry veggies on top. We just ate it as a side dish.

Sharon good job on shopping around for the capris. Wally World wins again.

Morning!

LG - Wow! That would make me write a rant too! I hope you get it all resolved as the average person can just not spend that much money on a prescription each month! I often remember when my DD worked as a Pharmacy Tec. Some days she would come home so upset because an elderly person had spent most of their SS on meds. It didn't seem fair 20 yrs ago and it still doesn't seem right!

Yesterday was my first out of control day I've had since Oct. No energy and hungry all day! It cost me some at the scale. Enough to freak me into being much better today! I hope I can redeem myself by my Sat WI!

SEK - I'm sure you and Joshua will both be glad to have school done for awhile! Enjoy your week of no extra work! I don't blame you for not jumping in to housework.

PJ - how did your dinner turn out last night? It's good to try new things! Once in awhile you discover a new favorite.

I walked over to a new Thrift Store yesterday (a GoodWill) and I was not impressed with their prices. They wanted $7.99 for crappy used pants. I didn't buy anything. Then I went to WalMart and found a brand new pair of capris on clearance for $7. So I was happy!

PJ, sorry about your DS. That is awful but it is better to know now than later. Hope that he gets the pipe fixed quickly. I'll keep him in my prayers. We will always continue to worry about our "babies". It's just part of it.

Judy, I'm sure that you and Joshua can use a break! Now, what grade is he in? Is he close to graduation? Sorry I can't remember if you said where he is in his studies.

WG, you are awesome....4 all day long. I thought having 3 was hard!!

Sharon, we'll get you out....6 a.m. isn't that early!! emoticon And I hope I recognize you!! I know that we'll be able to see your weight loss.

Well, we are fighting with the insurance company that we have for our Part D for drugs. I got a letter last October stating that they would no longer cover my Celebrax (for my RA pain) and that they would only cover it if I got prior authorization which entailed getting my doctor to send in tons of paper work. My doctor instead gave me a card which states that I could get it for a $4.00 co-pay. I figured it was too good to be true. So I called the company about the card. A lady told me that it was true. I explained that I was on Medicare, etc. She said that was fine. Activated the card and went to use it the other day. The pharmacy told me that my co-pay would be $178.00!! She told me that the card is not good for people on Medicare. Called the company back and they said that I couldn't use it and get the meds for $4 but that they would give me a "break" and only charge me $178. It gets "better". If I don't use the card, it will cost me over $200 per month. I'm going to see my doctor today and talk about what I can do. I've learned that the drug has gone to generic but that the price didn't drop that much. But in 6 mos. it will drop a lot. So I'm going to have to suck it up until then unless she can come up with something else.

Sorry about the rant.....enough for now.....

SS good for you!

PJ wish I was there with you.

Not much going on here. Have to take the dog to the groomer as soon as I finish route this morning. Joshua is almost done with school for the year. I'm so glad, my brain needs a break!

No extra work for me this week, and I'm OK with that. I should be cleaning my house, but I'm not.

Well this has been a interesting day. Had s Spanish lesson this morning here in the park (which wasn’t much of a lesson) and then had a lady come in from the extension and give us a talk about nutrition which was good. She is coming next week to talk about vegetables and will show us a bit about making a tamale (wrapped in foil and with spinach in it).

My heart is breaking for my youngest DS he broke it off with his fiancé and he is heartbroken. We never stop worrying about them but there were just too many issues he couldn’t deal with and yes I know he has his problems and issues too. Then went home and found a broken water pipe in his house. So I am just praying he doesn’t fall back into a depression again.

I am making something different for dinner tonight Rice and Freekeh (it was a package I picked up at the grocery store) It is a dried mix that is boiled much like just old fashioned rice. I have some salsa I am boiling black beans to add to the salsa and we are having Salmon patties also.

WG the medication lady is working out wonderfully. Thank you for asking. Fishing hasn’t been too good but he is still enjoying himself. I haven’t been out yet and won’t until the weather is warm and not as windy.

It is really getting windy here so I'm afraid it is going to blow in the rainy weather. emoticon

Good morning Seesters. It is beautiful and sunny today. I'm sure visibility is diminished as the air is not moving and "clearing" the smoggy stuff. We still politely call it inversion but it is what it is.

PJ, I'm a bit envious of your warm weather. You have such fun walks. I enjoy your pictures and stories. How is the fishing? I'm glad you could take care of your dad's stuff without a problem. How is the medication person working out? Is everyone well with the future DIL?

LG, what fun to be with your grands at these times supporting them. They remember these times but more than that, it helps you stay connected. I like the commercials about the Vivo.

SS, you are making it work and winning on top of that! Spaghetti squash is a fun meal. Glad it works for you. It is fun to learn new ways to eat that you can live with.

Weezie2, it is good that your DD is thinking of her MIL. It is hard sometimes not to favor your own mom but the child needs to know both grandparents.

Yesterday, I had 4 grands all day. It was a busy day and we didn't get much done. I've got a couple this morning while their dad swims. He is happier when he gets some swim time in. Then I've got errands to run and packages to mail.

Have a great day all. It will be a busy one here with laundry and a few things.

Good Morning!
My casino trip was successful. I ate well (a chef salad w/light Italian Dressing) and I won $85 at the slots! A win-win situation!

Today no social obligations to go out to eat! I made Spaghetti the other day with spaghetti squash and it was really tasty. I think we may eat the left overs today! It was our first experience with the spaghetti squash and it was successful. Even Norm liked it.

LG - If I keep walking as much as I am now, I'll be up to walking but STILL....getting up so early may be the problem, lol! I am looking forward to Shipshewana and this year you girls should see my weight loss!

Weezie2 - how now of you to be aware of and generous of sharing your baby time! As Claire continues to grow and stay awake for longer periods, she will definitely sleep better at night.

PJ - I can't imagine living so far from a grocery store! We have a Neighborhood Market (a WalMart grocery store) right outside our back gate. I am always running in for a quick trip! Then we have the Ranch Market right outside our front gate so I can always get fresh fruits and veggies. I have absolutely no excuse for eating healthy and not eating out. It's just so much more fun to go out to eat!

I had a wonderful day yesterday with Claire. She was so much happier and stayed awake for over 2.5 hours. I think her longer stretch staying awake helped her sleep better last night. I think Kelly will take her to see her MIL today so I can catch up with a few things. I certainly don't want hurt feelings over baby time.

Have a Great Wednesday!

Good morning, ladies!!

PJ, we had a beautiful day yesterday too. Keep them coming!! I'd love to hang my clothes outside but the birds used it too much and I didn't want to keep doing them over!! Glad that you were able to get your dads car off his assessment with just a phone call. The hand is better but I've got to learn that I can't do certain things yet. With no brace or anything I just do it!!

Sharon, hope your casino run was profitable! And I think that the "gadgets" do keep us accountable. As I think I mentioned, Jason, Stephanie and Rachel have the Vivio (sp?) it's like a FitBit. It beeps at them to get up a move. We were all here and eating when Jason's beeped. I asked what that was and Luke looked at me and said "that is daddy's arm going off telling him to get off his butt and move"!! I nearly spit my food across the table!! That child is such a character!!

I also have an iphone 5. But I didn't find that much difference in it except it is larger. Rachel has the iphone 6+ and Jason has an iphone 6. Rachel's is a work phone. Her personal phone is a 5. That 6+ is huge!!

Sharon, this year in Shipshe, we'll rouse you out and make you walk with us!!

We are going to SVDP today and then Brooke plays ball again tonight. They got beat last night but she scored so that helped soften the loss.

Absolutely gorgeous here today. I have some clothes washed and hanging out, dishes are done, have on a short sleeve top and capris on and heading out for a walk. I didn’t go this morning as usual I was just too sore I walked almost 8 miles yesterday but after resting this morning now I am ready.
Also made a phone call to dads county assessor to get his records straight so he doesn’t have to pay for the car he no longer owns, They handled it over the phone without hesitation.

I am mentoring a lady trying to help her knit some socks so need to sit down and write out instruction for her that are strickly for her particular number of stitches etc to make it easier for her. She wants to at least get one sock done before we leave. Very interesting for me as I am in no way a teacher.

Tammy both here and at Rayburn Lake we are about an hour drive to a decent grocery store and Walmart. So we only do that when I am out of product about every 7-10 days

LG hope your hand wrist arm all feels better today. Take it easy don’t over do. The eyebrows I’ve seen do look nice and they do try and match your hair color.

Sharon you are doing a great job on you as your priority right now. Keep it up.

The outside is calling and I have another team to post to also.

Morning Ladies!

This afternoon we are making a casino run! Can you believe it's been almost two weeks already! The time just flies when we're here. I'm already thinking what I will order at the deli for dinner. Probably just a salad. Something low cal, I'm sure. I wish I could be as sure that I will win at the slots but I don't have as much control with that!

I have been doing a lot of walking lately. My new FitBit has helped me there. I enjoy setting goals, meeting my goals and having it automatically sync with SP. I don't earn GoGetter Awards from SP like I did with the SPAT but I do win Badges with FitBit and I love having my FitBit Friends cheer me on, message me or even taunt me!

I finally figured out why I can't sync to my iPhone. It's because I have a iPhone 4 and it does not have the syncing capability until 4s. My phone can be updated next month so I may just upgrade then - we'll see.

LG - you are one busy lady! You will never forget all these games you go to for the GK's and they won't either. It's worth the time! Thanks for the kind words on my weight loss struggle! I still have a long way to go but I'm pleased with how far I've come already!

Tammy - I'm actually enjoying tracking my sleep for the fact that it syncs with SP and I have always tracked it with SP. The last couple of nights have been bad for sleeping and restlessness.

Weezie2 - I hope the cold that settled in your eye is doing better today. Every time I catch cold my eyes really matter and itch. So I not as bad as you but I can have sympathy for what you're dealing with.

Weezie - you have lots going on too! Could be why you can't concentrate on your healthy lifestyle. I have to admit it takes time to walk and plan meals. Living here in the resort away from all our family is helping me right now as I take the time I need before I do anything else. I'm not as active this winter with resort activities but that's OK as I have to lose this weight and that's my top priority right now. I keep thinking about Tammy and how well she did. I want to be just like her!

OK, I've been a slacker.....where this team is concerned! Sorry! Got up yesterday morning and went to the gym and then to chapel. Got the church laundry and then headed to St. Vincent de Paul to work for 3 hours. Then we went to Columbus to pick up the grandkids and get Carmen to her bb game. Stephanie didn't get there until after it started and Jason just before it started. Got home and practically went right to bed!!

Becky, hope that you have a great time with your friend. I must admit that when we flew to Barbados we landed early. Now flying out was a different story. Plane was delayed 3 hours. Almost missed our connecting flight.

Sharon, you are doing emoticon and WG is right.....walking helps you lose inches!! emoticon

So, Judy...Mike thinks you need another job??? Not sure that I'd do that!! What are you doing? If it is something you enjoy that is great!!

PJ, I have a friend who has her eyeliner tattooed on. Not sure that I would do it. She said it wasn't that painful but hard to hold still. I'm not sure that I'd have my eyebrows done. All I can imagine is looking like an old man that used to walk around our town. He was totally white headed but had very dark eyebrows!! They were thick and he really looked "different"!!

Tammy, glad that you enjoyed your day off.

Weezie, know that you have a long day today. Enjoy! Glad that your son/DIL got the house they were looking for.

Weezie2, hope that Kami is doing better this morning. Pneumonia is nothing to mess around with. Hope that your eye is better too.

WG, the thumb is "better". But yesterday I stretched out my arm and I sure could feel the tendon that he split. It hurt like crazy and now my middle finger hurts too. It is a bit numb. Gosh, this is awful.

Well, I have to get all the church laundry ironed. Have lots of it as I didn't do it last week. Bad me!!

Hi, Seesters!

Becky, have a wonderful time!

SEK…a new parttime job? Is this just for the short term?

SS, I still haven’t tracked sleep with my fitbit flex – I think it would like frustrate me too much.

WG, DS and I will likely take a leisurely walk on the beach instead of that 5K, and that will have its own rewards, won’t it?

PJ, how far are you from the town that you go into for groceries? Our favorite state park has a town about 20 minutes away and sometimes it is nice to go to the park and really get “away” – as much “away” as we like, anyway. How is your future DIL? My hairdresser had her eyeliner tattooed on, and really likes it.

Weezie, yes, I did have MLK off. I go back to work tomorrow. It was quite rare in my “before retirement” days to have the day off, as it was usually a “snow makeup” day, and the public schools had usually missed some days by January.

Weezie, hope little Kami shows improvement today. I would also like to know about the Brother embroidery machine.

Have a very good day, friends!

Kami is on inhalers for pneumonia. She sounds much better now. She's had a cold that just lingered and never really got totally free of.

I have a cold that settled in my eye. I get this every winter. Nothing can be done for it except warm compresses, eye drops and benadryl.

Claire was a little fussy today so I went to help Kelly. She didn't want to stay asleep for longer than 10 minutes at a time. We were quite happy when she finally settled down and slept for 2.5 hours in my arms.

What kind of Brother embroidery machine did you get Weezie?

Evening all!

Well, Weezie, I happened upon the news and saw the Packers lost yesterday. I was thinking of you and knew you'd be disappointed. What a way to lose it at the end.

Sorry Kami wasn't feeling great. Ava was that way on Saturday and so she didn't get to play with Mya as she hoped. She'd try but just didn't have any energy. I guess Sara (Ava's mama) was home sick today and Ava took care of her! Mya was very good and I was truly amazed since she has seen so little of us. I think she'd do find staying the night. That will come.

PJ, I have heard of having makeup tattooed on. I think I'm with you. If I lost my brows, I'd maybe think about it but I wouldn't seek it out. I'm really not into pain but it sure would be nice NOT to have to mess with it and the savings! Make up is crazy expensive.

This morning we had a lot of fog to deal with. It did go away later in the day and it is to snow again tonight. Nothing major but colder but after a couple of days above freezing, it is hard to go back.

I think I mentioned the new sewing machine. Well the cord they sent is not the right one. I thought I had a window of opportunity today when I got home but didn't read it right so missed it. Ack! So I sent an email and will see if I hear from them tomorrow. I didn't tell them my Pfaff cord fits this machine. Makes no difference, I want the right one!!

Tammy, glad you're enjoying the new bed. Did you get today off for MLK? We had no school but it was more a gimme with exams last week than in observance of MLK. Of course some of us still worked. Busy as we had the bus drivers do a PD so had to run around making sure they had food and such.

Becky, glad you friend made it safely and you're enjoying having 'like' family visiting.

SS, I hope you are still going strong on the challenge. I'm doing poorly these days and not sure what's up. There are a lot of 'excuses' I could make but none of them good ones. I just gotta get back to it.

So Judy, Mike got you a PT job? Doing what? Did you finish your kitchen?

WG, thanks for thinking of me while having the girls over the weekend. It was fun and next time I think we'll make cookies. Hopefully both will be healthy then. If I could just figure out how not to have to interact with the prickly DIL, it would be fine. (I'm terrible!)

My older son and wife sold their house. Well, if the inspection goes well tomorrow. They found a house they love and it is big and beautiful. Fortunately, they do have a nice down payment so I hope it all goes well for them. It would be nice to have more room to raise the boys in. So we shall see.

Now I need to get around. Early to bed for me tonight so I can get up and early to work tomorrow. Co-worker's DH messed up a knee he had surgery on last August and has to get to the doctor. He can't walk let along work. Their daughter is getting married in June and I'm sure he'd like to WALK her down the aisle.

Hope you all had a great day and enjoy your evening!

It's actually becoming very popular here in AZ. I run into more and more ladies with permanent makeup. I wouldn't be opposed to getting my brows down but I don't care about eye liner. One of my GF's in MI has done it and loves it but after so long it needs to be refreshed.

My SIL has done them and looks great. She is a very casual woman and just didn't want to fuss every morning. Not a big deal at all and for her it was a great thing.

OK Seesters I'm comfortable enough with all of you to ask this. I was talking to a neighbor here in the park and asked her how in the world she got her eyebrows on so perfect every day. She laughed and said they were tattooed as well as her eyeliner and lip liner. Anyone here had that done or knows anyone who has. Just curious. I laughed and told her I have a terrible time penciling my brows. With glasses on the frames are in the way and without them I can't see so I struggle with this issue. No I'm not thinking of having them tattooed (yet unless I lose more of my natural brow hairs) but I do have a BFF that has had the eyeliner done too

Yesterday was beautiful and we drove into town for groceries. It is nice again today but overcast
This morning I have done 2 walks and 20 minute DVD with the ladies. Would have done more but couldn’t get the DVD player at the rec hall to go to the segment on the DVD.

WG sounds like your little town is exploding in its population.

Tammy that new music you discovered sounds like it will be fun. And something new for you to learn.

Judy is the part time job Mike got you a permanent part time job? That was so nice of him. LOL

Sharon I am really enjoying this much nicer weather with warmer temps.

Good morning Seesters. Rainy here and the dog still jumped over the fence. She ran off last night as well and missed "dinner." She was pretty miffed. I finally gave in and fed her at 3 am as it seemed a bit mean not to let her eat but I'm not happy about chasing the dog around. I really liked for a few months having a yard that she could stay in and be outside getting her "wiggles" out.

Weezie2, I'm sorry about the overtime loss. It was so interesting driving around Lambeau field. I expected it to be in a more urban area. I don't follow football, so it is always fun to hear how things turn out in the end. I hope your eye feels better soon.

Does Kami have the flu or something else?

Tammy, good luck finding sheet music. That sort of music is fun to listen to and play so you will have a great time. I'm sorry you can't do the 5K there but I know you will find something you can do locally. What are you going to do instead to enjoy the weather?

Judy, your semi retired husband found you a great part time job? How kind of him. I'm sure money is nice, but sometimes I just want to have a life. On Pinterest there was this tutorial on making window seat cushions out of shower curtains or something like that. I didn't look but it sounded interesting. How did yours turn out?

Sharon, walking really does make a big difference. I thought the sleep monitor was a fun tool, but it sometimes frustrated me with more than I wanted to know about my sleep. I found drawstring waistbands were helpful when transitioning sizes.

Becky, that was neat your friend arrived early. Much nicer for you than a late arrival. I like the immediacy of communication as well. It is fun to talk with others and makes travel so much better. Enjoy your visit.

LG, have a great day. I hope the thumb is getting stronger every day.

Weezie, I thought of you this weekend with your girls. I hope they had a good time and Ava felt well enough to play.

Have a wonderful day everyone. I'm off to run a few errands, catch up on laundry and clean a rug Princess Sofia moistened with her not quite housebrokenness. At least it was moistened and didn't go through to the wood floor. And find a missing project a daughter did something with.

Weezie2 - I really thought the Packers had the game until the 4th Quarter, sorry about that! It does sound like you had a nice day regardless. What did I miss? What is wrong with your eye?

Becky - I'm glad your friend arrived safely and even early. Did you arrive in time since it's so unusual to be early? I agree with the difference the internet has made on communicating around the world! When my DH was in the Army we had to depend on snail mail. I would go days with no word and then receive like 4-5 letters on the same day! Now I talk to friends in Japan and around the world without a thought!

Tammy - how fun to find your "new" music. Now you have lots to practice with. It appears you made a good decision with the mattress! I didn't sleep well at all last night! I was awake 4x and 23x restless! I only got 7 1/2 hrs sleep from someone who is usually closer to 9 hrs!

LG - I hope you were able to rest yesterday after your hard work day at the museum! They must appreciate all you and Thomas do.

WG - yes, my clothes are just plain too big! My Spark Friend, RUTHANN05 that moved to Yuma gave me a stack of tops that were too big for her so I have several tops but not many pants. I did break down and buy a new pair of capris at WalMart yesterday. I can't believe I am in a 16 comfortably! I haven't been there in a very long time. It must be all this walking because I've been this weight before but not in this size clothing!

PJ - as long as our weather is so nice, I'll gladly share with you! Enjoy the warmer temps! We may even hit 80 today. So I better go get my walk in early.

I had Kami yesterday while her mom and dad went to see American Sniper. I could tell she still wasn't feeling good. She took a 2 hour nap after she took a bath. There's something about taking a bath here. I don't mind and I knew it was one less thing for them to do when they got her home. She woke up at the end of the Packer game which ended up going into overtime. We were ahead the whole game until the 2 minute warning only to lose in overtime. Maybe next year it will be the Colts and the Packers right Pat emoticon

Not sure what I'll be doing today. My eye is still red and scratchy. It makes it hard to concentrate too long on too much.

Enjoy your MLK day

I'm here finally!

Weather is not too bad here right at the moment windy, but it's Kansas.

I didn't make it last week because my hubby got me a part time job I didn't know I was looking for. Like I don't have enough on my plate, oh well, I'll get my time adjusted, I hope. LOL!!!!

Y'all take care and have a great day, I need to move on before I have to go to work at my new job.

Good MLK day. Do you all have the day off?

My friend's plane landed 15 minutes EARLY!! That has never ever happened....with the years and years of going to pick people up at the airport here. I went down the mountain early and had time to go to Walmart, a mall and a supermarket before I went to the airport.

It's so nice to have "almost family" here. I love living in Costa Rica, but I miss a lot of people. Modern technology makes it so much easier. When I was in the Peace Corps the only communication was via snail mail. And it was TRULY snail mail from the mountains of southern Africa. I had to travel to Maseru to make a phone call....and that was when you had to call the operator, place the call.....and then wait for the operator to make the connection and call back. Last night Lisa skyped with her 94 year old Dad. Times have changed!!!

Night 4 of new mattress - emoticon

Our temps have been pretty moderate the past couple of days for midJanuary, and DH and I are already counting the weeks until we go to Pensacola during my spring break to see my DS and BIL. I found out yesterday that the 5K that I do with them is going to be the weekend AFTER we are there, and since it costs ME to have a substitute, I am not going to stay longer nor adjust my visit. I can do 5Ks at home...I am tentatively planning to do the Heart Walk in April and a Light Up the Night in July again.

DH just looked into a television cabinet in his Man Cave and found some old Sheet Music magazines - they have been in there at least 8 years - but I now have some "new" music to look at for piano lessons! The cover of one has Perry Como, Tony Bennett, and Frank Sinatra, so I would imagine the music will be 50s/60s and that will be fun. I have neglected to buy any new music after holiday and mattress shopping, even though I finished some piano books, so this is a nice find.

I have the holiday off, and SD - who is usually off on Mondays - traded the day with a co-worker, so we have Tank Dog. That isn't necessarily a bad thing, and Sugar Dog certainly enjoys it.

Have a good day, Seesters!

My name is Tammy and I live in SW Missouri.

Hello!! Sorry I didn't get here yesterday. Thomas and I went to the museum to work. Was very tired when I got home and even took a nap!

WG, glad that everyone was alive when you left!! That is definitely a plus! And I'll tell you that I've slept on an air mattress and I didn't find it comfortable.

Tammy, glad that you are getting some good sleep on the new bed. Glad that your DD is doing well. She will do fine I'm sure!

Weezie, hope that Ava got to feeling better and that Mya enjoyed her visit. Glad you got the sewing machine. When we go to retreat, you can bring it and we can do embroidery together!!

Weezie2, I know that you are enjoying that hot water!! And you are right that Shipshe isn't that far off!! So looking forward to it!

Becky, hope that you are having a great time with your friend!

PJ, I'm enjoying your walks!!! Hope that you are!!

I too think of Jo often and hope that she is doing Ok.

Now I need to get busy. Got a few things I want to do and I want to read my book!

Hi Seesters. A long day at work. Never really caught up but everyone was alive when I left. It was one of those days. I'm hoping tomorrow is a better one. All the people we thought would go home didn't and we got 5 new ones. It was a mess. It is better now.

Tammy, glad the bed is working out. I'm thinking an air bed with a gel topper next time I do this but I'm not in a hurry. I'm using my memory foam pillow to sit on at the computer. it is soft for that but I hated it under my head. More like a sandbag.

My town was about 10,000 when I moved in. It is now closer to 30,000 with almost every arable acre filled with homes and now we are getting some "multi family" dwellings (townhomes and apartments) which means we are really a city. Have 2 grocery stores, McDonalds, Wendy's, Arby's, and a few local places. Two bike shops and a Walgreens. There are 5 elementary schools, a junior high and a high school. And a swimming/RV resort sort of place. Not a huge town as it is a bedroom community (everyone works outside of the town) but it is growing fast.

Your DD takes after you in that she is bright and capable. She is doing well. I'm glad she is having success in her life. She will be a great nurse. Does she want to stay in clinical settings or go into other fields?

Weezie, Little Brother sewing machine? I've had my eye on one that has a deep throat and is very programmable. It has a pen that lets you "draw" lines on the fabric. Out of my budget right now, but I'm thinking.

Hope the time with the girls was good. How is the grandson? I'm glad the kids sold their home. They will find the right one. Just have to look.

Becky, have fun with your company. Hope she brought cookies. What is your favorite flavor?

Weezie2, hope you are feeling OK. It has been a bad year for the flu and other things. I hope the baby isn't being held by many people. Enjoy seeing them tonight.

SS, you are doing so well even with eating out! You are a rock star! Enjoy feeling better. You are needing new clothes I'm thinking.

PJ, Hi.

Off to bed. See you tomorrow. I worry about Jo often. She wasn't going to quit visiting us often as she had problems with her computer and didn't have the stamina to sit long. I hope she is doing well. She is such a bright and fun woman.
