Good morning all,

Well, it is pouring here so we'll see how the day turns out. Should still be hot one.

I have two more bears to cut out and will have 30 to send off to my sister. I'm tired of it of course. LOL I have been contacted by a friend and it seems I'm going to be making some t-shirt quilts for her. So Tuesday plan to meet with her to see what she is wanting/thinking and go from there. I think it is all the 'planning' that takes the time as the actual put the top together isn't bad at all. Should know more after we meet. 4 before Xmas. I can do this.

Still unsure if the other girls will be visiting today. Ava is making pictures for them we'll send if they don't get to visit. I feel for her but I can't fix 'stupid'.

Hope you all keep cool and SEK, you;re a better person than I. I'd be dead working in the heat like you are.

I'll check back later. Enjoy your day!

I did get out this morning an mow the front yard. Boy is it hot. Frank and I are canning our first batch of green beans and the first time I have canned since the jar blew up on me 2 years ago. Thats why we are doing it together this one time. I was a bit gun shy.

Frank is on antibiotics for his ear so he is staying inside for a few days especially with this high heat we are having. It is looking a little bit better but still red and swollen and hurting below his ear.

Stay cool everyone.

Good morning. DD is here so it will be short. She is "sorting" the grand's bedroom. She prefers to do this by herself as no one can tell her what she can and can't throw away. She will do what she wants.

It sounds like a busy weekend. I'm not going out much in the heat but do need to make a run to the store for the necessities. I'm not a big hot dog fan so I'm not going to eat much tomorrow in the way of that but there will be other treats.

I found a little "origami" toy that I got for DD#2 when we lived in Boston. The toy has fallen apart and the innards are disintegrating but I found the original pattern online and may try to make some using fleece. The kids really enjoyed them when they were little. It is a shapeless thing that has snaps and you make different animals using the snaps in different ways. It shouldn't take any work at all as there is no sewing. Just snap attachment and I have those plastic Kam snaps that go on easily.

Weezie2, I agree about the pool. It would be fun to cool off. I don't know I would enjoy one as much as I think, though. My son has a dream of putting in one the length of his yard so he can do laps year round. It would be 2 lanes wide and 100 yards long.

Weezie, enjoy the grand time. Sounds like fun. I hope the new superintendent works out as she seems to be doing. I don't like dealing with toxic people at all. Keep being nice. It pays off at some point.

SS, that carb thing is very real. Hope you feel better after the weekend.

PJ, hope Frank is feeling better.

Sek, that's a hard schedule. No wonder you are dropping weight. That isn't fun at all.

Take care everyone. I'm off to be busy and productive so I can do something fun this evening.

Good Morning!
I am spending today in my a/c'd home. I took Nala for a short walk this morning and it took me 1/2 hr to quit sweating. Nala is still sleeping it off.

I have been so out of control with my eating since Shipshe. I am addicted to carbs - just a fact! Good carbs would be OK but when I stepped out and ate refined sugar in Shipshe it sent me on a binge cycle. With another gain this week, I said - enough! So this morning I am back to LC and this weekend will not be pretty. The headache has already set in. I just need to keep focused and think about how much energy and how good I'll feel come Monday!

SEK - that is one busy schedule! No wonder your weight is coming off. You are doing so well with our summer challenge. Keep up the good work!

Weezie2 - wouldn't it be fun if we could all meet at a pool and walk, exercise and visit. Won't happen but it's fun to dream! Enjoy the homemade ice cream but I'm with you in that if it's in the house, I will eat it. Yesterday, we ate lunch at Steak N Shake. Normally, I eat well there but yesterday was buy one shake/get one shake FREE. I couldn't resist in my binge cycle and ordered a M&M shake. It was good but I hope I got it out of my system for the rest of the summer!

Weezie - there is always a sense of things getting better with a new employee. I hope this Supt works out well. Have fun enjoying your pool with the GK's. It's obvious we all envy you!

WG - It appears so many of us are enduring the heat of the summer. In a few short weeks, we'll wish it was warm again. I hope you had a good week with your weight! Don't forget to stop in and give us your weight report in the other team. We missed you last week.

PJ - I hope the antibiotics work wonders on Frank. I give us all permission to lay low and tolerate the heat.

LG - rumor has it you found our pie!! Do tell? Oh well, it's not like we didn't have enough to eat. BTW, whoever left the bag with Ghirardelli chocolates in our MH. Sorry, you can't have them back as Norm and I (mostly me) ate them! At least they are gone now. I found a spoon and tongs which I found out is Janet's, so I'm mailing them to her.

Believe it or not I am still alive. It's been so long since I've sat at the desk for any length of time, just thought I should let y'all know. LOL!

I'm not even going to attempt to get caught up on the posts.

I do have stories to tell, but until summer school is over, my keep in touch time is way down. I have to start the route at 5:30 a.m. because the school is cheap and only wanted 2 buses. I have to be at school by 7:30, which I just do make, then they go home at noon (when it's hotter than billy blue blazes). By the time I get home at 2 the heat has got me, and all I want to do is sit. Of course between routes I go to my other job. I should be down 20 pounds with all the sweat, but I'm not.

Take care, I need to go, the church is taking pictures this morning for the directory.

Y'all have a great weekend.

It's another busy weekend here. Kami's birthday is today! My big girl is 6. Time just flies with both of them. She still wanted her sleepover last night. G'ma still rates and I love it. We'll be picking up Claire this morning so Kelly can sleep. Both girls will entertain each other and keep me busy until it's time for a friend's child's birthday party this afternoon.

Our temps were mid 90's yesterday. Today should be more of the same, If I lived closer I would be swimming in Weezie's pool too. Maybe someday I'll have my own and a deck off my sewing room.. I have a roundabout being built on my corner in the next year or two. Not sure if I'm going to like being so close to it. So I need to wait and see before I spend some big $$$$ if I don't want to stay here.

I bought everything I needed for the girls to make homemade ice cream. They should have fun. Good thing it only makes a pint.... Ice cream seems to call my name if it's in the house.

Have a Great Weekend. I need to shower before we leave to get Claire.

Good morning all,

Well another busy week at work down and the end of the month quickly approaching. Our new Supt. starts this next week a few days and then the following week she'll spend a few days in her old district as they are finishing up on a bond proposal she's been a part of and wants to see through. We're very excited about her starting. I think it is going to be a great thing for all of us.

Have Ava this weekend and working on getting her sisters Sunday should their mother choose to cooperate. I really dislike having to deal with her but am trying for the sake of the girls.

Today the older son may be over with the boys to stay cool in the pool. The little guy isn't a 'water' boy so we're trying to help him there. His parents didn't start him young which is now the problem I think. All of the girls are 'fish' now even though Mya was afraid last season, she's now pretty confident and understand the float aids do work!! LOL

Have been spending time in my sewing room this week digging through and finding UFO's for the retreat in September. I also have other projects I want to address so trying to get myself organized a bit . Plus, I've been trying to get some bears cut out for my sister's ministry to send off. They just gave 35 away so trying to help by cutting them out which is the piece they can't seem to get help with PLUS I still have a lot of donated fabric I'm working through so I haven't had to spend any $$.

Hard to believe Shipsee is over and sure do miss you gals. Did Pat share she found the pie she thought was lost? I had to laugh.

PJ, sorry about Frank and do hope the antibiotics work for him. I too am anxious to see the camo curtains.

WG, sorry about the tough work day and do hope you got some good rest. I hear ya where the kids and their 'stuff' is concerned. I have pretty much handed my boys' things off to them. I have found a few things but nothing much. Now if I could just get a step son to move his junk out of a room in the basement. I don't think DH will ever make him. He's 36 years old and still thinks it is prudent to keep on our auto insurance for a discount on his rates. I think they are nuts as he's never had an accident and he carries just basic insurance. I just bite my tongue. Grrrrrrrr......

Pat, I think you're right. No real fishing. Likely went for treats and just a little 'boy' time. All good. Glad you and the girls got a little baking time in. These are the things they remember.

SS, stay cool and I hear you about the heat. I couldn't be out in it long and surely not walking. My sister texted the other night and said she and a friend were going out and it was 95. I told her she was nuts and she's 68 years old! Maybe she's adjusted. I'd die!!

Now I need to scoot. Lots to get done today plus getting hair trimmed a bit later. Short requires more work for sure.

Hello to everyone and wishing you a great day and weekend!

Hi Seesters. Home from work for the weekend. yesterday was hard and today was hard. Lots of confused patients and lots of turnover. It was busy and I'm bushed.

PJ, sorry about Frank's ear. Sounds like it could be serious. My guess is it came from the doctor's office but what do I know. Chlorhexidine (Hibiclens) is great at treating skin infections. It is used in hospitals to get rid of MRSA. Probably worth a thought. Many of our doctors use it before surgery and some use it after to wash the incisions to prevent infections.

Just a thought.

I'm sure the antibiotics will make a difference. Even the simple ones often work well.

I love the idea of the camo curtains. I like the jungle camo better as well.

SS, sorry the heat was so bad that you had to wait for your walk. I think the last week of July and first week of August are the hottest of the year. I hope it is true this year as it is hot here.

Off to bed. Arthritis is better so I'll sleep better tonight.

What a mess went to the doctor and they didn't have him scheduled or so they said. We went to our primary and he was out but the nurse practioner saw Frank scraped it and is sending it to the lab to find out what kind of infection it is. Gave him a Rx for antibiotics and said if it gets worse to call as she is the one on call. She is also going to touch base with the dermatologist and let her know what is going on and about the screw up of appointments.

Hopefully the Rx will take care of this. It is really swollen and read and he says it is even hurting below and behind his ear now too.

Everyone take care in this heat. No I am not going to mow today I will keep myself inside and keep my eye on Frank and his ear.

Grandkids are here and Thomas took Luke fishing. They still aren't home and I'm sure that the fish aren't biting in this heat!

The girls and I have made one batch of cookies and we'll make the 2nd batch this afternoon. Then we'll take them back and we are going to look for a new TV.

It is Hazy, Hot and Humid here too. But I don't have to shovel it so it's good!

PJ, I'm with SS about Frank's ear. My uncle got an infection in his leg and they were going to amputate it but it began to respond to antibiotics. emoticon

WG, for years we kept all the kids stuff here and finally I called them and said come and get it or in one week it goes to the dump! They came and got most of it and what was left we did put in the garbage.

SS, I know that you don't like the heat so hoping that you get some cooler weather.

We slept in til 8 this morning so the morning is flying by. Nala is feeling much better today. We went for one walk and she's ready to go again. It's a shame, I'm not! It is so hot outside, it may wait until this evening for another outdoor walk.

PJ - I'm glad Frank went to the dr and they can catch the infection now. Our friend is having his toe removed today because he has infection in it that they can't get rid of. It's so easy as we age to get infections and yet so difficult to get rid of!

WG - you are really generous to allow your kids to store their stuff at your place. It's time to either take it or get rid of it. I am enjoying one new door. I'm sure you will be pleased with the new doors. I can relate to the high cost of decorative doors! We refused to pay and finally after 4 yrs, Norm came up with a solution we can both live with.

WG yes the camo will be the jungle type print with lots of green and brown and tan. The walls will be a light grey like the rest of the walls inside. I still need to finish one wall in the living room/hallway too. Just waiting on son to finish the sheetrock seams and the sanding. The curtain will just be a slide on the rod kind so easy peasy to make.

Plans did change slightly for today. DH's ear the one where they took a biopsy is infected so I am going with him to doctor today at 1pm.

I did get out really early and walk on the trail. It was still stifling hot and no breeze at all. Then water my plants outside. I see I need to weed my flower beds again. :( I also need to mow the front yard. Frank has been doing that most of the summer for me since I was so busy with dad. I want to do it this time but it will have to be early in the morning before it gets too hot.

Hi everyone. Home from work and have just a minute before I go Ice my knees. It has been a long day. Some days the knees just act up.

Finally got a bid on the garage door. One place was pretty vague and the bid sheet had "if you get this add $$$" or if you do this add $$$" No firm number or exact wording of what they will do. I'm sure they are trustworthy. They've been in business for 25 years. I got another bid from the people who put in my new doors when I did my remodel. For $1000 more, I could get a wood grain door but I'm going to do the lesser costing door. I'm just not into spending money on something like that. Desert Tan will do just fine.

I've got to let them know I'm accepting the bid so in a month they can come and put in the doors.

I've got to send out an email to the kids and give them a list of "little things" to do to get the house ready for remodel. Everyone still has stuff here and it's a mess still. I'll take the youngest DSs things and put them up in the top of the garage. The other things need to go to the homes where they have owners. One daughter doesn't want her stuff "messing up" her house. Her collector dolls, treasures, etc.

PJ, what color if the curtains are camo? Desert camo or jungle camo? Yarn is always nice.

SS, how nice of you to host the coffee. I'm glad the woman set things up for you if you don't normally do it. You are taking over as a regular leader in the neighborhood. How can you think about leaving when they need you so much?

LG, that's a lot of work for a retired woman. I have a woman at my local fabric shop who cuts my fabric all the time. We often visit now that we "know" each other so well.

Tammy, hope your weekend is a good one.

If is the 24th of July this weekend. It is a holiday celebrating the first pioneers who entered the area. They then planted and harvested corn that year. Amazing to me for sure. It is also tradition to have a "weenie roast" on this holiday. My mom used to celebrate all the summer holidays from Memorial Day to Labor Day with roasted hot dogs and homemade ice cream. I'm sure we'll be doing this as well. I ordered a propane fire.

I've got to go and ice things. I'm hoping to do better tomorrow. By the end of today I was limping pretty badly.

Good Evening Again! It seems like it's getting to be a habit to spend part of my evening Sparking. This morning our Activity Director was working in the kitchen at her church so she asked me to be in charge of our Community Coffee. She got everything ready, so I just had to plug the pot in. She even provided the treats. I cleaned up afterward but had plenty of help.

Then this afternoon Nala has a vet apt. Time for her shots and annual checkup. She's a healthy dog and it still cost us $210. We just spent $240 last month! Don't anyone talk you in to a puppy without knowing how expensive they can be. I preferred when we took her in to be groomed but Norm is doing just fine and saves us $45 every month.

PJ - I'll bet the kids enjoyed the time with you. So, is the grandson's bedroom your new project? I remember you were going to paint. Now it sounds like a camouflage curtain is also in the works. Go ahead and treat yourself to some yarn as well.

LG - it sounds like you need a few days to rest up before going to work again! It appears you are working very hard. Good for Brooke (I think) on getting her permit. I can hardly believe she's old enough already. Where do the years go?

WG - I don't know how you get anything accomplished when you are watching the little ones. I sure didn't. I felt I had to play with them to keep them occupied.

Thank you everyone for the door comments. We are enjoying it and saved us a lot of money. Doors with the stained glass inserts run like $800. It does pay to be married to a handy man!

Took the grandsons to the last summer library program today then went to McDonalds for an early lunch. It was fun. Now I am home deciding what I will load in my car for the next drop off at the thrift store. THe thrift store is next to Joann's so I will probably stop in there and get the camouflage material for the grandson's bedroom curtain. Maybe look at yarn too. I think you know me well enough to know it will be more than look. LOL

It is just too darn hot to be anywhere but inside. May just finish the day with some knitting and /or reading.

Afternoon, everyone!

I came home from work yesterday, ate dinner, did a load of laundry and went to bed. I was so tired from the night before. Not working today. Not until Tuesday next week.

SS, I love your new door. Glad that you got that done.

Tammy, it is good that you go with your mom. I went with mine and I'm glad that I did as she couldn't hear very well and didn't understand all that was said. I wrote everything down too.

WG, my Carmen is an instigator! She will do something and try to get Luke into trouble. Middle child.....'nuff said!

Not sure any of you saw on FB but Brooke got her driver's permit! Jason and Stephanie are a bit nervous! I remember that feeling so well. A funny story....Jason had just received his permit and we were letting him drive some. I was riding "shotgun" and we put Thomas in the back seat. I was reading the paper and he told me to put the paper down as he wanted to see what we were going to hit!! emoticon

Got to run.....

Good evening everyone. I'm finally having a quiet moment. Had Snow White and Fabio today. Those two get into more trouble than any of the other grands. It really White but she is a replica of her mother.

Still waiting on an estimate for the garage door. I thought I'd get it today but it didn't come. I'll call next week if I don't. I might have to go with the other bid as well.

So sorry the heat is bothering all of you. I don't enjoy it either but it is probably worse where you are. I hear even the corn is sweating.

LG, hope you found the problem with water. It is frustrating when you can't find a problem and "know" it is there.

SS, love the door. It looks perfect. I love it when things are repurposed.

Gotta run and get some things done now that the kids are gone. Couldn't leave them alone for even long enough to run a load of laundry. These two escape and go places. I'm not fond of that

Have a great day.

Good Evening!
We were gone this morning and didn't get home until mid afternoon. It is so hot! That being said, I spent the afternoon on the couch. I didn't sleep well last night either, LG. I got a little shut eye in as I will stay up and watch the RNC again on TV tonight.

Tammy - I'm glad you are going with your mother to her apts. Sometimes another ear helps, especially if she is distrustful. Thanks for your comment on the door. It really has been nice today with it so hot as we could keep the door shut for the a/c and yet the room wasn't so dark. Norm's pretty pleased with his ingenuity.

Hello, ladies....

I've read the posts but I'm so tired that I can't think to type a reply!! Neither Thomas or I slept well last night. We went to bed and we both fell asleep. About 10:30 he woke up and woke me up saying that water was running some where. We didn't find anything in the house so he went outside to see if he left the hose running. Nope! Couldn't get back to sleep.....so only had about 4 hrs of sleep. Worked all day and I'm beat. I'm not working tomorrow so I'll be back then.

A lovely door, Sharon!

Still hot here...as for most of us. We have dental appointments today, and then back to Branson for some days. I am looking forward to my afternoons of reading/sewing.

I made it to another specialist appointment with my mom - lots of sending to specialists, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. She is just so distrustful of doctors; I try to remember that I am sometimes skeptical myself.

Have a good day.

PJ - I'm glad the dr is being cautious with Frank. I'm sure it's nothing to be worried about but at least you'll know. Yes, Norm can't sit still for any amount of time. The door turned out OK and we really see a big difference already. Here's a picture of it from inside and out.

Fitness class was cancelled this morning teacher sick so I am going to be walking with Leslie inside out of the heat.

Sharon newlyweds are doing ok. Day to day struggles trying to raise the 2 boys in a very small house. But they are doing darn good I think. I do kind of laugh as they both talk to me about troubles with the boys and I just give Chris a smile and say I know what you are going through.

Franks dermatologist called this morning. The spot on his head she wants to have him come back so she can take a bit more and go a bit deeper. She says it is just in the skin and nothing to worry about just being cautious. Sure hope thats the case.

Sharon that Norm sure does like to stay busy with projects. Frank has been doing small jobs fixing things on the truck and is now replacing dump valves on the trailer. Going to manual on 2 of the tanks and bypassing the electrical ones as the electrical switches have been replaced 1 or 1 times before. I'm watching him like a hawk in this heat.

Well better get Leslie up and start walking or I won't do it at all. Have a great day

Good morning. I have four grands here right now. It is fun to have them back. DS and his family returned Saturday from the East Coast. I've missed the kiddos.

PJ, sounds like a fun trip. I'm sorry they don't have enough sock yarn. I'm sure that will change with time. I'm amazed at how they took such an innovative route to creating a business. It works well.

I'm glad your dad is physically better. Hopefully his mental state will improve with time.

Weezie2, sounds like a great afternoon. I'm sure your mom enjoys these visits and the visits help improve her quality of life. That's a lot of pillow cases. Sounds like you got your projects going quickly.

LG, enjoy work today and all the preparations for the grand opening. Just around the corner.

I've got to go and run herd. Will check in later.

The Missouri Star Quilt Company is on my bucket list. Hopefully when Weezie retires we'll make the road trip with Pat. emoticon

I finished 7 pillowcases last night and the top of a quilt that's for a birthday party this Saturday. Today I need to pick up some backing and get it finished. It's hard to believe that Kami will be 6 then. This time has flown by with her.

Kelly and Claire met me at the nursing home yesterday to visit with mom. I love the way toddlers can put the residents in a much better frame of mind. We stayed outside in a little courtyard to give mom a little sunshine. Claire had more fun sharing her pretzels and finding rocks and sticks. Of course she loved all the birds that were enjoying the feeders there.

Have a Great Tuesday!

Morning! Quick check in as we are off to meet my classmates for our monthly breakfast get together. I don't mind eating breakfast out as I stick with an omelette (no toast) and it works rather well for my low carb.

WG - We are also replacing a door or at least remodeling it. Norm hates our front door as it has no window so when shut, he thinks the living room is too dark. One day someone threw out a door at the dumpster so Norm went dumpster diving. The door was dented and crappy but it had a beautiful stained glass inset. So yesterday Norm put a whole in our door to hold the glass. Then he painted the door. I am anxious for it to dry so he can rehang it and see how much of a difference it makes. Good luck to you with all your doors.

LG - another busy day working! You are doing great this week. We are both acting more like Spark People this week, right?

PJ - I am glad to hear the C diff is gone! It sounds like physically your dad is improving so one wonders if it's not depression. Hopefully, they can figure it out as he's certainly not enjoying his life right now. On a good note, how's the newlyweds doing?

Good morning......

PJ, you'll find your routine. I've been where you are and it's not easy. But hang in there, it'll get easier. MSQC sounds like a great place. Would love to go there and to Hancock's in Paducah. Maybe one of these days!! It is so sad for you and for your dad. I so remember when we moved mom to the assisted living facility. She even went so far as to accuse one of the aides of stealing her hearing aid so that she couldn't hear what they would say about her!! I drove over there and found it in her chair. Prayers are on their way for you. emoticon emoticon

WG, glad that you are getting the garage doors replaced. So sorry to hear about the baby. That is so sad. Just breaks my heart. My nephew and his live-in lost a son at 26 weeks. He was cremated and buried on my nephew's mom's grave. Heart breaking. Glad that you and your son were there to support them.

I'm working this morning. We are opening the new store today! Our grand opening will be in August some time. We will begin working on that today. I'm glad to have most of the hard work behind us.

Got to run....see y'all later.

I just canít seem to get myself organized to get all my routines going again. But Iíll keep plugging away and hopefully soon it will all come together. I went with a friend to Mo Star Quilt Co this morning. I sure wish you seesters were close enough to go. We would all have a good time. I went looking for yarn but the shop that now has yarn doesnít have a very big selection but some sock yarn found its way home with me.

Dad was good on Tuesday but horrible on Saturday. Just not happy at all complaining about everything didnít want to get out of bed, didnít feel like eating but I made him go to the dining room for lunch nurses had to force him out of bed for breakfast. Etc. Nurse was going to check with doctor about changing or increasing his depression meds. I think that is a lot of his problem however he is still weak. His lab report last week came back negative for the C Diff so at least that has cleared up.

I went to the baby shower on Friday. The afghan was a hit even though it was handmade. Or it appeared to be. Lots of pretties for the new little girl. She wonít be needing any clothes for a while.

Tammy so sorry to hear about Joeís Ex. Alzeihemers is terrible and I would much rather see a quick death then go through that. It is so hard on the families.

WG glad DS is getting some time with his kids. Tiring as it is it is good for all of them.

Take care all.

Hi Seesters. I'm waiting for a garage door guy to come and give me an estimate. I need to replace my doors and have needed to for years--before I divorced. There has always been something that came up first. I need to now and have a bit of money set aside to do it.

I also need to replace the back door of the garage. It wasn't mounted correctly and the window shattered when it shut quickly one day. I'll replace the whole thing and will have a bit more light to help. No windows in the garage and I've needed to make more light than I should.

It will be nice to be able to shut the door again and have the house look finished.

Tammy, I'm so sorry for your husband's loss. Sharing a life with someone will hurt no matter how long they have been apart. It is a part of your memories that is gone. I hope the children are OK with it. I often view death after the diagnosis of dementia as a blessing. that is one way I would not want to die.

I hope you will see the kids this weekend. It would be good for both of you.

LG, a rest and a book sounds great.

SS, I have coloring books but the grands usually use them. I think I could enjoy it but have so many other things to do that I don't know if I could enjoy it.

This morning I attended the graveside service for the son of the next door neighbor who grew up with my son. The baby died at 31 weeks so he looked like a small doll. They took photos of the parents and the baby, hand and footprints, dressed the baby in a small outfit, and were able to hold him for about 10 hours before they sent him away. At the cemetery we all let go of balloons which was a nice thing to do. My son found out last night when I called him so he came and went with me to the service. This makes two babies lost to my neighbors (both sons lost babies before they were born.) A very sad time.

I have had a gift for this baby done for a few weeks. I'm so glad I listened to my small voice and didn't take it over. I'll save it for another baby

I've got to go and get some more quilts "basted" so I can begin sewing them. I've also got other errands to run after the garage guy leaves. Busy day.

Tammy, sorry for the problems that you have faced. It's hard when some one dies and very hard when it is a "family member". And I agree that Alzheimer's is an evil disease. I heard that a classmate died about a year ago from the effects of a chemo drug she took for breast cancer. I dismissed it as not being true but I guess it can happen. I'll keep you in my prayers.

WG, glad that your DS has had time with his kids. My arms ache today from lifting that heavy bed. Thomas and I are both worn out from it.

Sharon, just relax. That is what I'm going to do. The couch, my book, and a healthy snack!

Tammy - I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Joe's ex. It must be difficult for the whole family. I will keep you in my prayers. I agree, BTW, Alzheimer's is such a horrible way to have to die. I guess we would all like to pass away in our sleep. Some of us may just be that lucky.

Bills are paid, mammogram done and now I have another lazy afternoon ahead of me. I've read so many books, I'm kind of tired of reading. Perhaps this afternoon would be a good time to get out my new coloring book and see if I can get into coloring!

Thanks, WG, for the kind words and the info. I did have a text from the younger SD later yesterday evening that it was expected her mom would pass away overnight, and indeed she did. The older SD called her dad a bit afterwards to tell him.

She is the third person within the circle of my life who has passed with Alzheimer's. I've told my children that if I should pass quickly that they should be glad. I always used to dread cancer - not so much any more when I think of Alzheimer's. If I get my druthers, I will pass in my sleep. Lol

So much for all those hard thoughts...it is possible the oldest SD and part of her family will be back at the campground the last week of the month. We were planning to be here regardless. It will be good for Joe.

Have a good day. I plan to keep cool -we are under a heat advisory.

Hi everyone. Just a short visit before going to Princess Sofia's birthday party. She is getting a princess dress and a "beanie boo" that she has wanted. I'm taking my "snowball kitty" to visit her. It's a stuffed animal and we've got a running thing going with the stuffed cats.

LG, that's too bad about the bed. I prefer a queen for sure. Too bad the heavy frame had to go down and up again.

Tammy, I'm sorry the kids aren't keeping you informed. I know you tried in the past to keep the peace. It is possible to suffer the effects of chemo and have problems later in life. I have a dear friend who died from a cancer the chemo caused. But other people have health problems some starting right after chemo and others starting years later. Drugs that kill cells are powerful enough to cause a host of problems.

I hope you and Joe can find peace no matter what happens.

DS is doing better this weekend. He had the kids as his ex wanted her "two weeks uninterrupted." They had a great time. He's exhausted but it was fun.

Gotta go to the party. Have a great day and enjoy yourselves.

Hi, Seesters!

I wish today that I could report that I could say I had done something besides stay cool and be sad for my stepdaughters and their families, but that's all it's been. Joe's exwife has been in nursing care the past three years with Alzheimer's and hospice was called in yesterday morning. The youngest SD had come to Branson for a last hurrah prior to her moving to St. Louis in two weeks. She decided after a phone consultation and Joe encouraging her to go that she needed to go so left for the 3.5 hour drive. She was to keep us informed, but hasn't. However, we have seen FB posts so it's not like we're clueless.

Supposedly their mother's diagnosis is due to chemo she had about 20 years ago. Have any of you heard of such a thing? I have a colleague who had chemotherapy 30 years ago...no such side effects, but of course I know that's a very small sample to draw conclusions from.

For those of you who like "based on a true story" movies, State of Jones with Matthew McConaughey (sp?) was very good, even though I could watch the Civil War battle scenes at the beginning - too gory and up close.

Have a good evening.

Sharon, I'm right there with you. So today, I got up and went to the gym and did an hour of treadmill and elliptical. Then Thomas and I decided to re-do our bedroom with a bed that was given to us by my sister. After we took our old (read heavy) bed to the garage, we found that the bed was a queen size and we have a full size mattress! Had to take it all down and start over with the old bed and it is very old. Lots of heaving lifting, etc. I counted it as heavy house cleaning!

Everyone must be very busy so I'm going to go sit for a while. Had hoped to get to my sewing room....didn't happen.

Morning!
Now that I've beaten myself up over my weight gain, I'm in a much better frame of mind. I see I wasn't the only one that gained over the week of our Shipshe trip. Oh well, we did have fun and now back to being good!

It's a beautiful day out and I've already got a couple walks in. Looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend.

Got home from work at 5:45 and I'm tired. Plan on not doing anything! We moved lots of stuff around and then back again and put a very large display case together. Sharynn is becoming much more receptive to some of our ideas. Working again tomorrow and then will probably only work next Tuesday and Wednesday.

Sharynn asked me today to be "in charge" of the Christmas Shop Hop. Told her I'd do it. But there isn't much to do at this point. Our Christmas fabric has yet to find us!! It'll get done. We also need to plan a grand opening. Any ideas any one????

WG, it will probably be hard to make sure that she honors her part of the bargain. And so sorry about your brother. That's hard.

Hope that everyone is doing well. Got on the scales this morning for a sneak peek and I really didn't like what I saw at all. Must admit that rings were tight so I know that some of it was water. So hoping that I'll be down a bit tomorrow. Good luck to all.

Good afternoon. It's been a busy couple of days. The grands are here with DS. The court hearing went Ok. They did agree on some things but it is unlikely she will honor her part of the agreement.

The kids will be here until Sunday then she will have them for 2 weeks. Then it will be every other week for the entire week.

It sounds like you all had a wonderful trip. Even getting lost sounds like fun but a lot of steps.

Weezie2, congrats on the new grand. How wonderful for you and your daughter. It will be so much fun for all of you.

I got 2 quilts basted. The batting is cut for several more but I didn't get time to baste them. Hopefully Monday I'll have a bit of time to do that.

My brother is back in the hospital. I'm not excited and it has been frustrating that I don't have any information and he has forbidden his wife to talk about his illness. I guess having secrets is so very important that he'll go to the grave with it.

I've got Fabio tonight as well. I'd better get busy. Have a good day.

We really did have a Great time. Each year gets better and better. I would love to be able to meet each and every one of you.

I picked up some fabric for 2 quilts I want to make. One my son and the other for my new grandbaby who's due in December. I also picked up some novelty prints for pillowcases. It was certainly not like previous years. I also want /need to get caught up on some projects. Next year Lolly's better be ready for all of us. Even Weezie1 didn't get her normal quota of fabric.

Thanks for the kind words about my weight loss. It's definitely a step in the right direction.

I went to Kelly's ultra sound this morning. It is such a miracle to witness. We took Claire to the zoo afterwards. It is so much fun watching her enjoy the animals.

Have a Great Thursday!

Hello, ladies!!

We got home about 6 last night and I was like a question mark after getting out of the truck! We were so tired, I went to bed about 8:30!

But we did have a great time, even if Weezie1 gave me "problems" all the time! Then she went and got us lost..... emoticon and we did have to use our phones to find our way back to the hotel! Had to call Thomas J. and tell him that we'd be there asap! Ended up walking over 60 mins! But I know that she was "mad" at me as the bumbleberry pie that I promised her went "missing". Somehow someone took that pie without me knowing it. So I guess I had it coming!!! emoticon But she will get her pie in September!

The storm didn't bother us at all and we had the best time catching up with each other. We walked all over that flea market and by the time we got in the truck my knees and hips were screaming at me!

And yes, we are staying at a new hotel because the cancelled Weezie's reservation. Not a good thing and then they had to pay more for a room. In my opinion that's not fair.

I didn't buy much....a few patterns and a bit of fabric. I have so many projects that I need to get done that I just don't want any new ones!

And Sharon is right....hardly recognized Weezie2 when she first came in the hotel lobby! She is really looking good! Just keep up the good work, Weezie2!

Weezie, thanks for lunch and so glad that we are getting together again in September. I'm looking forward to it.

PJ, glad that your dad seems to be improving. I know that it is very hard. Still praying!

Sharon and Norm were very gracious hosts to us again this year. Thank you both!

TB, I guess you'll have to come back next year!

I'm just finishing up the laundry. Had to work all day at Sharynn's and will be working again tomorrow. We won't be open until Tuesday and we are still moving things from the old store. Most all of the machines are still at the old shop. Got to get them to the new location. And I'm sure we'll get it all there eventually!!

Got to run and get a few more things done.

Today is kind of a let down after the last few days - just routine stuff! Norm is already back home from working. He had to paint a shed so he got started early so he'd be done before the heat of the day. I've been cleaning and doing laundry.

This afternoon I have to get out and run some errands and at 6pm is our community potluck. I would rather pass than be exposed to all that food today but Norm enjoys it so I'll go and try to be good!

TB - I guess you better come next year to Shipshe to keep the storms away. We are already booked for July 10-12th. The ladies are staying at a new hotel next year but Norm and I will be at the campground again. So if you or anyone else on the team have a desire to come and join us, mark your calendar.

Good evening. Glad that everyone made it home safely. I love the stories and the wonderful time my Seesters have together.

PJ, I'm sorry your dad fell again. It could be his BP and could just be weakness. I'm glad he is doing better. Painting sounds like a good outlet for you and it is good for the kids so yu all win.

Spent the day working on the quilts. Got the batting cut for 9 quilts. I'm missing a top. I'll find it. Some are sandwiched but not basted. I'll start that in a minute.

My favorite fruit and veggie stand opened this week. I got some great fresh freggies there.

Gotta run and get some things done. I hate to have too much out when I'm at work. Never know who will stop by.

It sounds like the only Shipshe trip that didn't get stormed on was the one I was at. I guess I'd better come again and bring the good weather with me. emoticon

I'm glad everybody had a good time. I wish I could have been there.

Good Evening!
We are finally home! We took our time. After leaving the flea market, we called our friends and met them at the casino at noon for lunch and the slots! We played until 4. I broke even so I thought that was great - 3 hrs and I didn't lose any money. Norm won $50 so he was happy too.

Our annual trip to Shipshe is over emoticon But it sure was fun while it lasted! Monday night we all ate dinner together at the Blue Gate. They have added a buffet now so of course we went so we could see what it was like. We decided not again. It was too much Amish food to eat sensibly.

Yesterday, the weather was beautiful all day long. We told Janet we would hold our potluck until 6 so they could come when Tom got out of work. We're sitting waiting for their arrival when it's getting dark and thundering. The guys kept saying it was going around us but that's not the case! Right at 6 (you could have set a clock to it) the storm moved in. It was a real whopper too but we were all snuggled in the MH so we stayed dry. When everyone left and I went in the bedroom, the carpet was wet around the bed and it blew so hard it also came in the bedroom window. Luckily, Janet & Weezie2 didn't get wet sitting on the couch! No serious damage thankfully. It does amaze me that every year we end up having storms move through. At least this year, everyone came in the MH instead of packing up and running.

Norm and I went to the flea market this morning and before we left we ran in to the others so we could give goodbye hugs. At 9:30 it was so hot & humid after the storms, we decided there wasn't anything we wanted bad enough to go up and down the rows any longer.

I wish you all could have been there. We had so many laughs and really get to know each other better every year. BTW, Weezie2 is looking mighty fine with her weight loss. The first night I couldn't stop looking at her face as she looked so different. I'm pretty sure no one lost weight while we were in Shipshe but we have a couple more days to get back on track and do damage control.

Weezie, yes, we would love for you to come and check out where we live. It isn't that far from where you live! Let's do that!

LG - I enjoyed time with you and Thomas Jay. I am so glad he is willing to make the road trip with you each year. Our guys secretly enjoy the day to themselves I think.

Weezie2 - I hope you made it home safely. Keep working on that weight. Next year, we will both be at our goals!

PJ - sorry about your dad's fall but it sounds like he is recovering. What will you be painting at your DS's house this time?

Afternoon all!!

Well Shipsee is history for another year. Had a nice time as always and didn't buy a lot of fabric. Guess I think I have enough for now. LOL

Our potluck ended up inside this year due to storms blowing through but SS and her DH have a lovely motorhome and able to accommodate the 8 of us. Food was good as was the company. Why does time go so fast?

Tammy, thank you again. I got home today and the package was in the mail. My step-DD is tickled pink! I'll get a check in the mail tomorrow.

We were good and got up and walked each morning. I had a brainy idea to take a different route so we got lost yesterday morning and had to use my phone to find our way back. So it added a half an hour to our jaunt. More steps! LOL I know my hips feel it walking on pavement but time goes by quickly when you have friends to walk with and chat the entire time. Never seem to run out of conversation.

Pat, thanks for everything and putting up with my abuse. You're a gem and look forward to retreat in September. Thomas J. is also a great guy and enjoy him as well. Glad he'll bring you along for the ride! LOL

Weezie, glad the trip home wasn't terrible construction wise and you got there safely. Enjoyed our time together and do keep in touch!

SS and Norm, thank you for the hospitality and sharing Nala with us all. She's a cutie and clearly loved by all of us. Thanks for coming down again and look forward to next year. SS, let's try to get together. I'll try to get DH to go on a road trip and come find you!

PJ, glad things are getting better with dad. Such a tough time as we all know. You're in my prayers.

WG, glad you enjoyed the grands. They do grow quickly and you have a slew of them. I'm happy you get time with them as well.

Ava is coming this weekend. She's going through withdraw from seeing us. She's counting down days til she comes and told her mom she's spending the 'whole' weekend with Busia and Grumpa. How nice she misses us too!!!

Now I need to scoot and get dinner with DH. I may spend a little time in the sewing room tonight. Oh boy!!!

Enjoy your evening ladies and will check back tomorrrow.

We had storms roll through this morning and more rain coming I have been busy going through things again and still. Luckily we can burn so a lot of paper stuff has been burned. Making slow progress. Most of it so far is old pictures some getting thrown out some getting put back in totes but more organized. And piles for my 2 boys and piles for donation.

Dad is getting better I think but they did call me late yesterday to tell me they found him on the floor (unhurt) seems his bp is dropping when he stands up. Doc will be checking him today so I am waiting on a phone call. I was just there yesterday morning and he was looking good and I took him within the facility (in a wheelchair) and got his hair cut. I just keep pumping him up on how good he looks and how much he is improving. Like raising a 92 year old kid. But thats ok He raised me.

The youngest DS is about ready for me to do some more painting. Finishing what I started last year. It will be a nice diversion as I love to paint and they appreciate it so much and it makes their place feel so much newer.

I hope that the weather in Shipsee was good for you gals. I know the shopping and talking was.

I go by the name of PJ and live north of KC, MO. Winter in East Texas.

Its always too soon to quit.

It may take me longer to get to my goal than my original plan but I will get there.

Loving the photos and stories. Hope everyone is still enjoying the visit.

Had a fun day with two grandsons. Fabio and the Dragon were here. I started putting quilts together in a "sandwich" but haven't basted them yet. I've got a bit of work to do. I should get several done tomorrow so I can quilt on Friday and Monday.

Have a great day.

I'm hoping the heavy traffic clears out before I leave at 11. It's under 200 miles and I don't go into Michigan. I just travel though Chicago and take the skyway into Indiana. Safe travel everyone . Traffic permitting I should see everyone 3- 3:30 I am so excited emoticon

Have a Great Monday!

Good Morning!
I was not happy to wake up to a rainy day! How dare it rain on our parade! I did check Shipshewana's weather and it doesn't seem to be raining there. Perhaps we'll luck out.

We need to finish packing this morning and I'm making the BBQ's and potato salad. Then we'll be pulling out. I hope to be there at the campground around 2-3pm. I believe you all have my cell phone (616-498-3899) so call when you're close and we'll tell you our site #. I will have room in my frig, Weezie for your 9/13 pan or whatever anyone brings.

Safe travels and see you there! I truly wish everyone was coming!

Good morning all!

Well today is our day - finally - that we'll get to meet in Shipsee. I'm so ready!!!

I did some homework yesterday and this place called Zinck's in Ligonier (only about 15 minutes south of Shipsee it appears) is open to the public. The site had me wondering if it was just for wholesalers but I found them on FB, send a message, and got an immediate response. Hoping to find some great prices on fabric but of course Lolly's is on the schedule and will have to patronize them as well. It is what we do afterall. LOL

I made something for the potluck and of course it needs to be kept cold so I have had to be creative as to how to get it there intact. I don't own a cooler big enough and I didn't want to disrupt it's state in a 9x13 pan so I will get it there. Something we had at 'sister' camp which will be cool and tasty on a hot summer night at the campground.

We had a quiet weekend with no little ones. Next weekend will see Ava I'm sure. She's missing us as much as we are her it sounds. But was nice to have the weekend to address things and get a little time in my sewing room too!

Hope you are all well and do wish those of you traveling today to be safe. Weezie, if you come I-94, I know you'lll hit construction once you get into Michigan and it is moving slowly. If you can avoid, I would suggest you do so.

Now I need to try to work. Going to be tough.

Talk to you later!

Kids just left and now to relax and get packed and to bed! Tomorrow is chapel and then SVDP and then we will leave. Thomas has found out that there is some construction going on one of the hiways that we will travel. So we are leaving a bit earlier than planned.

We will post some pics as we can!!

Love to you all......
