I finally finished the future SIL knitted shawl. I am going to check to see one of the local yarn shops can stretch and block it for me. It is a pretty big project and since it is a wedding gift I would rather someone else tackle that for me. When it is blocked I will post a picture.

We had storms last night and it is getting ready to rain again. The grass was too wet to rake today so I have had fun knitting instead.

I canít believe that it is September already where did August go? For that matter the summer?

LG sounds like you had a busy fun weekend. Glad you are back home again. Any pictures?

Tammy just keep busy and breathe and take care of yourself. One day at a time.

Sharon wish we were closer to help get rid of that salmon. I bet you both enjoyed your day yesterday. I havenít seen Roots since it first came out. I have whipped out 4 headbands for Chrisí fiancť in different colors using scrap material. Really fast to make. They are sewn not crochet or knit.

Weez we donít go to movies much either but I do know that some in this area have started that dining thing in them also. No tears tomorrow as you take Ava to school.

Enjoy the rest or your holiday.

Here is the link for the headbands

Hi All!!

Yep PJ, opted NOT to work and DH and I went OUT to the movies. Haven't been to a theatre in a long time and hit an early show so only 8 of us in the entire theatre. Saw The 100 Foot Journey. Really enjoyed it but the sound in the theatre a bit much. Otherwise a very nice place. This theatre is downtown and they made it so you can eat and drink while watching the movie. It is set up that you have no one in your way and lots of space between so no one breathing down your neck. We'll go again but it isn't cheap either. The movie was $14 for the two of us (matinee) and then we ate and paid with tip another $30 for a small pizza (gluten free) and two sodas. Of course my DH is a big tipper too. Oh well, a girl has to make a living.

I did get to my sewing room this morning and likely heading back there as soon as I'm done here. We'll have a little bite later but it will be light. Gotta get geared up to go back to work and the month of September zooming by.

Ava start pre-school tomorrow and Sara invited me along on her first day so will do that before going into work. She is so excited!

SS, glad Norm had a great fishing trip and that's a LOT of TV. Glad you enjoyed and sorry about the weather today. Hope you had a good time regardless.

WG, sorry about the brother. Good you can be as understanding as possible but still hard.

Weezie2, love the photos of the things you've been making. PJ needs to share the headbands too as I'm sure you'd have a lot of scraps to make them from and I can imagine those would sell well too!

LG, sorry we couldn't work out seeing you on the whirlwind trip to Michigan for the wedding. Sounds like you had a good time and just think, it won't be long till I come there for our retreat. Did get you a few more fat quarters in Shipsee Saturday. I was really surprised (not sure why) that it was a mad house. Saw lots of Wisconsin plates in the parking lots. I got tired of it quickly so we weren't there but a couple of hours, ate at the Blue Gate, and came home.

Tammy, sorry about your situation as well and do hope things improve for you too. Seems none are spared of 'family' issues. And all we can do is take it one day at a time.

Now I need to scoot but wanted to say hello and confirm I'm still and well. Have a great week ahead and will check back when I can.

Good Morning!
I watched Roots from beginning to end yesterday! It took up my entire day and evening. It began in the morning and went until 1AM! I was home most of the time alone so it kept me company! Norm had a wonderful time out on the boat charter fishing! Weather turned nice and each of the men caught a salmon - Norm's was the biggest! He brought home a lot of fish to eat and since I don't care for fish, I'm sure he will be giving some away.

Today we are invited to a cookout here in the resort with some friends. It's turning dark and gray again so we may have to cook burgers in the garage due to rain!

Tammy - I hope your DB knows you are making the best decisions available. I remember in the past when we had to make some decisions in regards to one of our exchange students who got in a car accident. It's hard to make decisions that affect ones we love. Hugs and prayers continued.

WG - your DB makes it difficult to work with him. I pray for you as well that all goes well with the sale of your mother's home.

LG - the wedding weekend sounds busy and fun! Both Weezie and I wish we could have met with you when you were so close but understand the weekend was for the wedding! Just thinking of us and waving was enough for this trip.

PJ & Weezie2 - my niece makes and sells headbands at craft shows. They sell well. I believe she gets $5 each. They are colorful and usually have a crocheted flower on them.

Tammy, I really like your mantra: Just Keep Swimming! I wish I had thought about that when dealing with my mom. Hang in there, sister!!

WG, oh, WOW! Asperger's! I have a friend and she thinks that her son has it. He is so anti-social that he has cut himself off from his family except for 2 members. That is eerie. Very sad too.

Weezie2, you have some great ideas there!! Go for it!!

PJ, Thomas and I are looking at buying another freezer. We will put it in the garage. I don't want a huge one just another one for all my fresh veggies and some baked goods and meat!

emoticon to everyone else.....I've got to get to the grocery store. We don't have anything to eat in this house!! emoticon

Hello, Seesters!

I continue to do the best I can with DB's situation and still get things I need to get done as far as work is concerned. If I lived closer or could stay there 24/7, it would be easier. Of course, it would also be easier if there were more resources/interested family. I am anticipating some resistance about his next step, which I believe is going to be a skilled nursing facility for a number of days and I am expecting a phone call from a member of the hospital staff concerning this and his possible release date. I just keep thinking "just keep swimming, just keep swimming" and try to remember to just float every so often. This time next week even this should all be moving along nicely. I just hate conflict, and that is not getting better as I get older.

We are enjoying a nice rain - I hope it lasts for a bit.

Have a good day.

Hi, called DB on my way home from work (late again because of a new admission) and he was out hiking. Didn't invite or mention anyone coming over. He really only likes my sister and oldest son. Doesn't like anyone else and is rude to them. I think he has Asbergers and has a hard time socially but it is only getting worse as he gets older. Almost to the point of senility.

I'm thinking he really doesn't want to visit with me. I can live with that but it is sad when one loses a sibling. Perhaps when all is done it will be better.

Tammy, glad DB is doing better. You will see a lot of improvement then he will not do much more so hopefully he will get good return of function quickly.

LG, glad you had a good visit. Wonder what held up traffic on the way home?

SS, Weez2, Weezie, PJ, others. I'm bushed and since I'm not going anywhere, I'm off to bed.

We are home and I'm bushed!! We left Friday morning around 9 a.m. and got to GR about 3 pm. Made 2 stops along the way. Friday nite was the rehearsal dinner and it was nice to visit with everyone. We all went out to my brother's house after and sat out there until almost midnight! I did get up Sat. morning and hit the exercise room and did almost an hour. BIL came in and joined me for a while. We all had breakfast together and then went to the wedding. It was very pretty and fast!!! The priest didn't waste any time. After a few pictures we went back to the hotel and then went to the reception about 5 p.m. Left there around 10:30. We all had breakfast together again this morning and then left. We got home about 3 pm. again. But got into some traffic that for some reason was stopped and we had to sit there.

SS & Weezie, I waved as we went by Zeeland and Kalamazoo!!!

I'm too tired to think so I'll be back tomorrow.

PJ, I never thought about headbands...interesting thought ! I figured out a pumpkin mug rug from one I saw on pinterest. I picked up some greens yesterday and thought I could switch it out to a Frankenstein, I have plenty of whites for ghosts or snowmen. My imagination runs overtime on some of this....lol

Hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend. We may have a bbq tomorrow.

Just got home from MILís house. Have been working around the house and mowing the grass. Got the Iowa corn put in the new freezer as well as transferring food from the other chest freezer as well. Have also been in the She Cave sewing some headbands. Lots of fun easy and using up some of my scrap material. I got a pattern for a quilted purse in Iowa that I am anxious to do but that will probably have to wait until after vacation

Now it is time to start thinking about items and stuff to pack for our upcoming trip to Branson and beyond

Tammy Iím glad to hear that DB is improving.

WG I hope brother does cause to much of a issue about selling the house. Just do what you have to do. You should let the reunion committee know about DH not at your address.

Sharon it seems like only yesterday when GS left. I am glad he gave you a call Iím sure it was good to talk to him in person.

Judy have fun in Iowa I just got back from there ( I donít think Cedar Rapids is too far from Ames).

Weezie2 have you ever made headbands for your craft fairs and if so how did they sell?

Everyone enjoy your holiday. Weezie I hope you decided to not work and enjoy the weekend.

Had a fun day yesterday. We brought Kami to the farmer's market by the lakefront. She loves feeding the ducks there. Stale bread and popcorn...what a combination...lol. I bought a dinosaur egg squash to try. I guess it's like a sweeter tasting zucchini. I'll have to let you know. If they're good I'll have to plant some next year. My veggie gardens aren't doing well at all this year...of course the weather has been goofy too to say the least.

I need to get ready for church.

Have a Great Sunday!

Good Morning!

It will be another uneventful day for me. Norm is supposed to go Charter Fishing this afternoon and evening but it is gray and overcast. It may be raining by this afternoon. It is so difficult to plan things around this weather! At least in AZ nothing gets canceled due to rain. I'm ready to head back. Oh well, we leave last week of Oct so it is rapidly approaching.

Tammy - hang in there! We are all praying and it sounds like your DB is doing some better. It is hard to go to the hospital when he's so far away. I'm glad DH's leg is doing better.

WG - my GS is in the Army National Guards. His plan was basic this summer. Then return to his senior year of high school. Next summer will be his individualized training and then back for college. Time will tell if it all works as planned. Enjoy your visit with your brother. I hope he doesn't try to throw his weight around too much!

Hi, Seesters!

It is so nice to have a minute to check in...my day yesterday was almost a "normal" day. I did some schoolwork, some housework, some grocery shopping and bill paying, etc. I had lunch with my BF and we talked about our RVing plans for next summer and our classes now and she helped me with some things tech-wise.

DB knew my cousin yesterday. His nurse indicated that he was much better yesterday, so I chanced that he might be able to talk to me on the phone. The nurse said that he should be able to hold the phone from what she had seen - two days previously he had not been able to hold a toothbrush well - and indeed he could and had a conversation of sorts with me. He told me he was in the hospital because a horse had thrown him. This could be the intermittent confusion the nurse said he was still having, or it could be the quirky sense of humor that he has anyway. I won't be able to get any idea of what we are talking about for care until Tuesday because of the holiday. WG, thank you for the suggestions. Everyone has been a great help as we navigate these new waters.

I must go for now, but will pop in later to check on everyone!

Hi Seesters. Finally feel like I've got enough sleep. It was a very long couple of nights. Should have given in and used ice. Will certainly tonight. It is overcast today so it was perfect to go back to bed this morning and sleep a few extra hours.

My brother is in town. Haven't seen him in months so it will be interesting. I'm sure he will have plenty to say and I'll be taking a hit for whatever went wrong in his life/plans. He's been quite civil lately and I've "deferred" to him about the selling of the house. I'm hoping he will be coming up for the closing in a month (hopefully) or so but if he doesn't, he needs to know that we've been working on it.

SS, sounds like a fun time with your family. I'm glad your grandson is nearly done with Basic. Is he active duty or reserve? There is still tech school and some other things, but it will be soon that he gets done. He will have skills to get through life and some new confidence and experience.

I'm home today and Monday but am working tomorrow. I'll be visiting brother today and see what is going on.

Tammy, how is your DB doing? I hope he is improving still.

LG, hope the wedding weekend is fun for you.

Weezie, enjoy your shopping,

Good Morning!
It always takes me a couple days to realize I'm not getting notices from this team in my emails. It happens randomly and I'm yet to understand why. Anyway, I've read through all the posts I've missed but won't comment on old news.

We just got back from breakfast with DD, SIL & youngest GS. They are all excited as this is Hayden's last week of Boot Camp in Ft. Benning, GA and should be home by next weekend. It seems the time went fast but it doesn't feel like that at all for Hayden or his family. They are so ready for this to be over!

We are staying home over the Labor Day Weekend but some friends have invited us to a cookout on Monday. That will be fun. And in just a little more than a week, we'll be packing up and heading out to Branson to meet with the group from the RV Enthusiasts team.

Tammy - I'm glad your SIL is slowly recovering. Each day brings new challenges and I continue to pray for you. Your DB will definitely require making hard decisions as the days go on.

Good evening Seesters. Another long day. Great patients, even the crazy ones. Just too many of them. At least they all got cared for and I was able to help with pain and other issues.

Tammy, it is so hard to deal with a loved one who is changing. The physical therapists an OTs and even the speech therapists will work with your brother and help him get back as much as he can. I've seen some amazing things. One of the often overlooked benefits of a brain injury is a personality change or behavior change. It is possible that this will help your brother change his life as he really wanted to. It looks like you all have some serious discussion to have and may need to have more than one person with Power of Attorney at least for life decisions. Perhaps one for the money issues.

LG, have fun.

Judy, sounds like fun to visit Arby's. I like going there. It is fun when the child is working behind the counter. We used to visit Burger King when the kids worked there. You are right about managers although they may need him to be over 18 to do that. There may be rules.

Weezie, sounds like a ton of grandma time. That's good that you can be there for the kids. May be the cat. Perhaps if you vacuum out the room and close the door he will do a bit better. Have fun in Shipsee. You may want to check out Celiac sites and see if they have recipes you will like better.

PJ, glad the freezer is coming. You always have so many things to put in there. I'm glad your visit went well. Good to visit with Chris.

Got a card from a reunion group for DH. Really getting tired of him not letting them know where he is. I'm not his keeper. I think I'll write the sender and tell them he has moved. They can hunt him down if they want to. It's been more than 10 years. I really don't keep track of his address and have to look it up on the Internet when I need it for something.

I'm off to bed. I got about 3 hours of sleep two nights ago and 4 hours last night. Need to get to sleep. Brother is in town for the weekend.

Wow Weezer! Enjoy your visit tomorrow.

We ate at Arby's tonight, it was a surprise, Joshua didn't know. He did great. He's greeting people, does everything he's supposed to, talks to them while they are waiting, he's even suggesting sales. He's way toooo much like me. If he can tough it out he'll be manage in two weeks! Yes they go through help like water runs down hill.

I don't know how much I'll be around next week. I'm going to Ames Iowa to drive for them next week. I leave Monday and won't be back until late Friday and then I have a trip on Saturday with the orchestra. As of yet I don't know where I will be staying as to what kind of internet service they have, I will take the lap top, but I'm not making any promises. So if you don't see me that's why.

Got to go a Margarita and the couch are calling my name.

Evening all,

Well it is Friday and I'm beat! Imagine that!!! Last night Ava came for a visit while mama worked and my older son/wife convinced to me help them by taking the baby for the night. On a work night to boot. I must of had a moment and agreed. He was good though wonder if he might be allergic to the cat. He was snotty some before he got here but he struggled in the night breathing and was restless so neither DH nor I got a great night's sleep and then had to get up and to work. Oh and I had to get him up, feed him, and drop him back off at daycare. I'm too old for this stuff. LOL Tonight we'll be getting to bed EARLY!!!

Ava starts pre-school on Tuesday and Sara has invited me to tag along for her first day. I'm so excited for her. She is beside herself so it should be fun. She will attend a Montessori pre-school which I think will be good for her. Time will tell.

Tomorrow a.m. I'm to meet GINGERVISTA (Sue) from Spark whose in town visiting. We plan to meet at 7 a.m. to walk. Well, if it isn't storming out. Rain is in the forecast and we've had some of that this afternoon. We shall see. After that, step DD is coming down from GR and we'll be going to Shipsee as she wants to be acquainted with Lolly's fabric. How could I not take her up on this road trip? LOL She's been fabric shopping without luck and she knows how I've talked about this place so we will have a little girl time. DH will have Ava as mama is stuck working all weekend. We'll get tomorrow, one sister will have her Sunday and I think the other on Monday.

Tammy, so sorry about your brother and all that you're having to deal with. We're all here for you if you need to vent and know you are in our prayers.

Judy, glad you got a great group of kids for your bus routes this year. Hope is stays and sorry about Joshua getting a taste of the 'real' world. Doesn't make sense. 2 hours of training?

WG, thoughts and a huge (((((((((((((((((HUG))))))))))))))))))))))
) coming your way as you think of mom this weekend. Sounds like your brother's house deal isn't meant to be.

TB, hope you're well.

SS, did you get rain too? LG is in Grand Rapids tonight and sad we couldn't work out meeting but she is attending a family wedding so likely if we showed up her brother wouldn't look kindly as us. But what a thought - to crash!! LOL

PJ, glad your new freezer has arrived. Sounds like some work ahead but at least it will be done!

I'm still working on the gluten free route of things. I've been investigating wheat free as well. Any of you gone that route? Made dinner tonight of shrimp with snow peas and quinoa. It was okay but not as tastey as hoped. I will keep trying.

Found a site for some gluten free items a friend shared. If anybody is interested, it is Jules Gluten Free out of Maryland. I did pick up some different flours today as I'm going to try some cookies a gal at work swears by. I'll let you know.

Now I need to go get my bed made as I washed the sheets this afternoon. Get the kitchen cleaned up the rest of the way and just get comfy and relax. Have a bit of a headache this p.m. Not sure why unless it is the weather change. Hope it passes quickly.

Do hope you all enjoy your long holiday weekend. I'm trying to convince myself I can stay away from work but there is so much happening with school starting Tuesday and am feeling it. Ugh. Do I stay or do I go? We shall see!

Enjoy!

Had to good trip to Iowa it was nice to have some girl time with my cousin a day of shopping, eating lunch out and all her family (kids and grand kids) over for dinner our last night. And Chris and I had lots of time to talk while I was driving too. Also brought back several dozen ears of sweet corn as well as farm fresh eggs which I shared with family.

We just had our new freezer delivered so tomorrow after we know it is working correctly I will load it up.

Tammy thinking of you and hoping all will at least settle down a bit. Sometimes we just have to accept a new normal and proceed just remember you must take care of yourself too.

Judy so glad Joshua is liking his new job. I can just imagine him chattering about his first day.

LG hoping your repairs are fixed by now. Our delivery was right on time so that was nice.

Hi to everyone else.

It may take me longer to get to my goal than my original plan but I will get there.

Tammy sorry you are having such a time but as you say you will get a new normal and life will go on. It is difficult and wish I could help.

Well Joshua's second night at work was a disaster. Different shift manager and crew. He was thrown to the wolves without help after only two hours training. I told him to buck up and get used to it that is what happens. I also told him to scream at the top of his lungs for help because they are supposed to be training you, and that doesn't mean just for two hours. We'll see how tonight goes. He's getting a first hand taste of the real world and I don't think he likes it. We've tried to tell him over the years what work could be like, but until you experience it, you just don't get it.

It's Friday and I have a three day weekend. Color me Happy! Actually my kids this year are great and I'm praying they stay that way. Most of them on the bus are new and usually that's a recipe for disaster but so far so good.

I better move on y'all have a fabulous Friday!

Hi, Seesters!

Here it is Labor Day weekend...where did the summer go?

DH's leg is better - swelling is much decreased, and he says it feels better. He has an appointment to get it checked Thursday of this next week.

I posted a link on FB about what we are dealing with concerning my DB. I appreciate the thoughts/prayers. We have begun the conversation with the social worker about at least short term skilled nursing placement, and I am trying to accomodate sisters' and mom's thoughts as best I can. I am not his guardian [yet, but I see the distinct possibility that it will need to be done] and I certainly do not understand the disability front that must be considered. There are so resources to work with, and if only I had it I would use my own $$$. Before I tell you this story, I must share that he doesn't recognize us. My FL sister told him yesterday morning that Tammy was coming up. His reply? "Tammy and Joe? How is Joe doing?" I had told him about the possible clot in Joe's leg last week before his heart attack. If it weren't my brother, it would be fascinating to me the things that have been remembered and those that are not. I will probably have to look at it like that regardless. I saw an occupational therapist work with him yesterday - she was so very good. His motor skills have been affected but are somewhat existent. My mom told me on the way home that she wanted the OT to do more for him - I told her that the more he is made to do, the more independent he can be. Right now the plan is to get him to FL with my sister who lives there as that is what he ultimately wanted to do. DS has a friend who has been a godsend as she has worked with these situations before.

Today I must have a normal day. I feel guilty for not being at the hospital, but I must keep things together here as well in preparation for what is to come. I have a list of things to do, some work-related.

I have been checking in and it gives me a smile to read about your days. This hard time will get better and/or I will learn to adjust to a new "normal" and that will be fine as well.

On a last thought, my SIL is better - pain managed and I saw a pic of him on FB yesterday sitting outside on their back porch.

My name is Tammy and I live in SW Missouri.

Hi all. I'm off to bed in a few.

Tammy, thinking about you. Hope your brother improves and you have a good idea about what will happen next. It sometimes takes weeks or months to figure everything out.

LG, enjoy the wedding. Don't let the family drama spoil the visit.

Talked with sis tonight. Spent the last 2 days working on a counter offer for the house. Brother keeps finding problems with the proposal. The buyer only wants to put $500 down on a $250,000 home. Not a good idea. It isn't enough to make them serious. They need more cash flow than that to complete the deal.

I'm supposed to call another interested party tonight and see what we want to do next. It's always nice to have a buyer in hand.

This is the anniversary weekend of my mom dying. It isn't a big deal. It was her time. I'll just think of her a bit more right now.

Have a great night.

Morning, all!!

I'm on a run....repairman should be here somewhere between 8-12! Always love that! Than I have a mani-pedi scheduled for 10a.m. and a meeting at the museum at 12noon. Brooke plays volleyball tonight so we'll be there. We leave tomorrow morning at 9 for Grand Rapids.

Weezie, I sure hope that the rain holds off but I'm sure we'll have some.

Sorry I don't have time to "talk" to everyone now but will try to get back some time this afternoon. Still need to finish packing.

Weezie enjoy your visit.

WG our principle makes it extremely hard on home schooled children to take classes here. I know what he does is not really legal but after endless hoops and the like to jump through most just say forget it and don't go. I should maybe not say that now I just remembered we have a new one so it might not be the problem this year. I'll have to find out. Our school system is so messed up most of the teachers tell me if it wouldn't make them look bad they would home school their kids. Does that give you a clue as to what we deal with?

Joshua's first day at work went extremely well! He was a non stop chatter box about everything that went on for at least two hours after he got home. I've created a monster emoticon !

Well, have to go, y'all have a tremendous Thursday!

WG: Today was a really good day. Red and I worked for over 2 hours - felt like no time at all. We both had fun.

My goal with Red is to settle him down into a nice collected canter so I don't let him run full out for long. He's very big and very strong. He's a good boy and tries hard but he was bred/trained to run and race and I'm not certain that I'm physically strong enough hold him at an extended 'full speed ahead' gallop - so we don't do that. I work him hard on the lunge line, though, and that tends to take a lot of the 'oomph' out of him. After 1/2 hour of running in circles (literally) he's ready to settle down and work.

Evening all!

Just popping in to let you know I'm still alive and well. Welcome to our newbies!!!

Happy to see you here Judy and TB.

I did read through the thread but too tired to respond to you all individually. Sorry. Week before school starting and work is NUTS!!! So I'm just trying to not go to bed too soon and just relaxing and trying to zone out for a bit. My head hurts!! LOL

Do hope you all have a great evening and remainder of the week. Busy tomorrow night with little ones. Friday is a short work day as of now and no plans to have any little people so maybe I can regroup a bit and just try to enjoy the weekend. Rain is in the forecast but do have plans to meet a Spark sister visiting the area and actually from Kalamazoo originally - GINGERVISTA (Sue). We plan to meet on the KVRT (Kalamazoo Valley River Trail) and take a nice long walk. Hope the rain isn't hard as we plan to do it if it isn't a monsoon. Keep your fingers crossed for us.

More later.......

I was pleasantly surprised this morning. I placed an order on Sunday from one of my online sewing stores. They had fusible fleece cheaper than I can get it on sale at JoAnn's with free shipping. It arrived this morning .....Woo Hoo!!!! Now I can keep assembling those midi bags for our craft fairs. I have one shell done and 6 more bagged and ready to assemble. I think we have 10 more craft fairs scheduled before the middle of December.

I still need to go to JoAnn's and pick up some double sided fusible interfacing. I figured out a pumpkin rug mug and want to attach the face with that. I might try fabric paint too and see which one looks nicer.

Kelly's having her wood floors refinished so I have her dog and cats with me. They are spending the night with his parents . Between the fumes and the tackiness of the floor while it dries it's just better for no one to be there. Her newfie is sitting with his head on the couch right next to my leg. His breath is a little warm...lol

I brought Kami for a playdate with a family friend who has 2 little ones. It's always fun watching them play. Wore her right out and fell asleep on the ride home.

Have a Great Wednesday!

Good afternoon. DS#1 just left with his boys and I've got a minute. DS#3 sent our response to the purchase agreement. I think it needs tweaking as there are a lot of "buyer/seller" remarks that may be transposed.

Since the last of us moved out of the house in 1978, we are working hard to be sure the buyer understands this is "as is" with no guarantees, warranties, etc. I think everything works, but it isn't a big deal.

Visited the doctor this morning. I got a bug bite that got infected and isn't getting better. I've used all the good tricks and it isn't improving. Just not getting worse. I need an antibiotic to get rid of things. Not a big deal. I go to a doctor who listens and will do what I want but isn't a pushover.

Judy, it has to be strange having your baby in school and working. It is good for him to do both. It is one of those things with the teacher. She just didn't know what to do so she made a fuss and made the "problem" go away. He didn't really want to be in a class where he isn't accepted. He will have other opportunities. Can he do the drama at the local high school? I know some of our home schooled kids do some classes at the school. It is just a choice that is good for them.

I'm glad you are good at your job. We had a few incidents this week where the kids didn't make it to school or home and were delayed for HOURS. One was a handicapped child. It happens at the first of the year and the father made a big stink so the driver was reassigned, they added an aide to the bus and made some other changes. Hopefully the father will be fine.

Tammy, hope DB is doing better than things are resolving and he is doing better. Hope you got to visit with DS yesterday and you all got a chance to make some decisions.

Hi Carol, hope you are having a good day.

LG, you are always so busy. So glad that Brooke did well. She is talented. Carmen's games the next night? You have got to have bad "TB." Hope your got a good iron. I'm thinking I saw a nice Rowenta on sale somewhere. Don't need an iron this week so I'm good.

SS, hope your lunch was good. I'm glad your DH is willing to help out. I know I miss having someone who can help out with things. I ask the boys and they do help but it is sometimes a few days before things can get done. I avoid those parties. Hate to buy things I don't really need but they are fun. That's why I avoid them.

I agree that your DD is having her own issues. She needs to get it figured out. If you don't do a lot together, it isn't a big deal. My mom went to Las Vegas for several years. She would leave and be gone several months at a time. My sister and I would go to her house and water plants and feed the cat. In the summer, we would also to the yard work. It was a lot for us to do but it was good. I think we went to her house more often when she was gone than when she was home. We don't always do what we think we are doing.

TB, good day riding? I love the weather when it is turning and it is definitely turning here. The air is much more chilled in the morning. I think the animals act better when they aren't hot either. Race horse, eh? Sounds like you need to have an occasional good run.

I'm off to be busy. Got to get a few things done before my evening gets away. Have a great day.

I've been bad and not welcomed our new members, well, Welcome New Members!

SS can't live your life for your kids, I keep telling a lady at work that because she wears her hair, which is god awful, the way her kids want her to. My thing is, are they taking care of it? No, I don't think so, so do what you want. You are right life is short so enjoy it!

Joshua's first day of work is today. He goes in at 5 and he's so nervous. He thinks he will get fired for messing up. I told him if that was a good reason none of these fast food places would be open due to lack of staff.

Almost time to get him to class. Got to go.

Good Morning!

The sun is shining and my mood is automatically lifted! I hear it won't last long and we'll be back in the rainy mode so I better enjoy it while I can!

Later today we are going over to our son's and see the progress they have made on their new home on the lake. It's been a few week's since we were there. It's still an hour drive from our house so we don't get there as often as we'd like.

But then our DD only lives a few minutes from here and we don't see her any more often! She's the one who is unhappy with us leaving for the winter but it doesn't seem to matter when we're home. Oh well, it's time for us to enjoy our lives and not worry about how she feels. There will come a day when her kids are gone and they want to do what they want.

I got a call from my Dr's office yesterday, checking up on me. They are pleased the steroids and antibiotics kicked my cough but they are concerned about my latest blood work. It seems my liver enzymes were sky high plus my sugars were elevated. So they put me on a diet to lower the liver enzymes. After following the diet for 6 wks, I need to go have blood work again! They did say the steroids may be what elevated everything.

Good morning:

I'm flying by because today is supposed to be lovely ... sunny and temps in the mid 70s, a perfect day to play with my horse.

Lily: Red is a quarter horse. The QHs earned their name from their speed through the quarter mile; that's what he raced. They're great sprinters but not that good at long distances.

SEK: Our school year doesn't start until after Labour Day weekend. Of course, if you're a real keener or if you need to pull up your grades there is summer school.

I'm thinking of you, Tammy.

Hello to everyone I've missed. I'm off to play with my big red pony.

Have a good day everyone.

SEK, I don't think I'd be too happy either. Before I even read your whole post I thought to myself.......new teacher!! Kissing and bad language!! emoticon Really!! Luke came out with "F" word the other day! He's in Catholic school. Thank God he didn't do it at school. But kids hear it. He was in day-care all summer and I'm sure he heard it there. Can't keep them under a blanket all their lives!

TB, good that you gave Red the day off. Is he a Thoroughbred? Glad you glad that you got more work done on your quilt.

SS, hoping that your weather up there isn't cool and rainy for this weekend. I'd rather have it a bit warm!! Glad that Norm is able to help out the ladies!!

PJ, enjoy your trip.

Well, we went to Carmen's volleyball game last night and they only won 1 of the 3 but at least they won one! For their first it was a very good game. Score of the 1st one was 25-24. So you can see they didn't get beat too badly. And the score of the 2nd one was just about as close. Brooke plays again tomorrow. Today I've got to clean this house and start my packing.

emoticon to everyone!!

TB I forgot about that picture.

Well, he's not too happy with the college. His acting teacher made the school take him out of the class because he's 16, and she doesn't think that is an appropriate age to be in her class, because there might me kissing and bad language in the work they do. What?! I think she hasn't been out in the real world. It goes without saying that I'm not a happy camper either. I would go pitch a fit but I don't want her taking it out on him in class. My biggest defense would be the fair education practice plus a few other things but again I'll be good. The schools defense was she's a new teacher and she doesn't get it. I say what?! again.

Hope everyone has a cool place to be. I know it's been hot the last couple weeks but over all I can't complain about this summer, just wish it hadn't waited to get so hot when school started.

Y'all have a wonderful Wednesday! Take care!

SEK: Go Joshua! It's hard to realize that little red-headed boy who sent me an autographed picture is now a young man taking college courses. Wow!

PJ: I hope you're enjoying your trip.

Carol: emoticon

Tammy: My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Lily: WTG for Brooke. I hope you carry a cushion with you ... with Carmen's game, that's a lot of sitting on hard bleachers.

Sharon: It is flattering when other people are interested in riding Red but he spent the first 4 years of his life on the race track (yup - he comes with the racing tattoo inside his upper lip and everything) so that could be a very dangerous undertaking. When I first got him, if I asked for a canter, he went from a trot to a full gallop in about 2 seconds. The first few times, I found myself, literally, sitting on the cantle (the back part of the saddle). But that's what he was bred and trained to do and, being the good boy that he is, he does what he thinks he's supposed to.

He understands, now, that I want a nice, slow, collected canter but when he gets excited the breeding and early training kicks in. I'm always ready for that rapid acceleration but I'm very careful who I let ride him. So - sorry camper girls - no rides on my pretty horse.

We were under an extreme heat/air quality advisory today. I gave Red the day off - I figured if it was too hot/humid for humans then I couldn't expect him to work, either. He didn't object ... emoticon

I did get a fair bit done on the reversible quilt. Maybe the weather advisory was a good thing - I'm starting to feel a little less frantic about being ready for the show.

emoticon Weezies 1 & 2, PeaJay, Jo (has anybody heard from Jo recently?), WG and anybody else I've missed.

Joshua is going here to the Independence Community College, he's a junior in high school this year and they said he could take some college for his electives. He's taking intro to acting, piano, and a singing thing. With these courses he didn't have to take any college exams, which is good.

Time to get him to class. Later y'all!

Morning!

Tammy - so many health issues with your DB. My heart goes out to you and I continue to pray for the best outcome possible.

SEK - Joshua is turning in to a fine young man! College courses already! The time goes by so fast. I think he will enjoy his first job at Arby's. It's a heady experience to earn your own pocket money! I can only imagine how busy your job is at the beginning of a school year. I hope it settles down soon.

TB - no surprise about Red. She's a beautiful horse who is well cared for. Of course, the girls want to ride her. I can see why that's not happening though.

WG - when you sit down and fall asleep, it means you need some rest! I hope you got a good night's sleep and you're ready to hit the floor running for another day!

LG- it must have been fun to be with the winning team! Congrats to Brooke! I'm glad she learned as much or more than those that went to ND for volleyball camp. I think it's funny as when we asked our StepGS what he was going to do after high school, he promptly said he was going to play football for Notre Dame. He is a good football player but I asked my DD if he was aware how many boys want to play football for ND! Oh well, I guess time will tell.....

PJ - you're probably on your way to Iowa but I loved hearing about your family BBQ. Have a fun trip and travel safe!

Today is (hopefully) our last really hot and humid day. Looking forward to a break in the weather. Last night I went to a Premier Design Jewelry party. One of the ladies in Logan estates was the host and I thought it would be a good opportunity to meet more neighbors. Turns out that only one other resident of Logan Estates came and I already knew her! Oh well, it was fun seeing all the jewelry and I purchased a pretty necklace.

Norm did some work for another one of our neighbors so she is taking us out to lunch today because Norm refused to take money. Norm doesn't mind helping some of the single ladies in our park because they have no man to do it. Naturally the women appreciate all he does for them.

Good morning, all.....

emoticon Carol!! What's happening in your life??

TB, wish my hands worked better and I could sit and quilt. I love hand embroidery and doing some of that and doing a bit of quilting now and then. I'm anxious to see what you've done!!

WG, Brooke is an 8th grader and if you've been around girls you know how 1 upmanship can be. She is also in a private school and all (including Brooke) want for nothing! Girls more so than boys can be very nasty when they want. And I think at times Brooke has felt "left out". But she was the hit last night!! Yeah, the iron thing drives me crazy. Need to go to JoAnn's to get a new one or Bed, Bath, & Beyond.

Tammy, praying for DB and you family. Sounds though like he might be improving. And I know that feeling that you should be doing more. Please be gentle with yourself. emoticon

Hey, Judy!!! College.... emoticon and a job. You "little" boy is growing up!

Well, Carmen has a volleyball game tonight. So more sitting!!

Thank you, Seesters, for your thoughts/prayers.

Each day seems to bring something different with DB. I was amazed when I called the hospital from work yesterday and DB was awake. His nurse had prepared me for down-in-road scenarios had I needed to make the hardest of decisions. Anyway, DB was communicating with folks that were there, etc, somewhat confused. I was getting texts, calls, etc telling me what was happening, and then I got a text that the medical professionals were concerned about a possible clot in his leg, and there was [maybe still is] concern about him losing a foot. I learned this last night after waiting on DS from FL who got there late yesterday to call me back after visiting with the doctor. She and a friend drove from Pensacola yesterday and DS was fading fast, so I didn't question her a bunch. DB wasn't in any immediate danger and she told me not to drive up after dark. I will be driving up for part of the day today. I can only do what I can do, but I always second guess myself.

SEK, it makes me smile reading about Joshua in college. Where does he attend? And a first job...wow!

I do check in from my smartphone for my friends' updates - it gives me a smile during the day.

Have a good day, Seesters!

My name is Tammy and I live in SW Missouri.

PJ glad your bbq was a success. LG brag all you want.

Sorry I've been mia but when school starts it's crazy around here. I've already been called in to do honey do's at work almost everyday. They would be in a world of hurt if I quit.

Joshua is a college boy now, taking three classes. No biggies but it's getting him in a new environment and meeting people closer to his age. He also got his first job. He starts working at Arby's in the next few days. He goes in today with all his papers and then he will get his schedule. Can't believe it! Time sure flies!

Take care it's almost time for me to head out the door.

Have a terrific Tuesday!

WG: There will be no tearing out this time. Celtic Sky just needs to be bound and I have 2 of 4 borders attached to the reversible. The latter is 'quilt-as-you-go' and will take some time, but I really am past the point of no return. They will be what they will be ... fingers crossed.

Hi all. Hope you are having a better night.

LG, that's great about Carmen! What fun for you to watch her. I'm glad the stove fixed. Sometimes those sorts of things fix easily. I called a repairman once and he told me to turn it off and on and it did fix the problem. So sad about your iron. We get attached to something that works well and it is hard to change.

I'll bet you are excited to see everyone and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it is fun.

TB, I'm glad you get time to do the things you really enjoy. I'm sure you will get the quilt done, but you have been known more than once to tear the whole thing apart and restart. Hoping not this time. I'm not surprised the children want to ride your Red. He is well cared for and well behaved. You wouldn't have it any other way.

SS, hate humid. Don't get it often. Hope you had fun anyway. It felt definitely autumnal here this weekend. I don't mind. I'm certainly enjoying the rain. Thanks for letting us know about Tammy. I hope things go well and they are at peace with whatever decisions they make about their brother.

PJ, glad the dinner went well. It's always good to have things to smoothly. I hope your and DS get a good visit in traveling and you both have good cousin time. Sounds like fun.

Carol, hope your day was great.

I had a good day at work and it was busy. I'm off to bed in a minute. I sat down for a minute to take care of something and woke up 30 minutes later. I'm needing a good sleep. Have a great night.

Just wanted to brag a bit here.....Brooke's team won the volleyball match 2 games to 1!!! She was grinning ear to ear. A bit of "history". She thought she would not like the coach as she is the mother of one of the players. She said she wouldn't get much playing time. She played in all 3 games and only sat out to get rested. She was so good!! A lot of the girls went to Notre Dame this summer for a week of volleyball camp. Brooke didn't go. VERY expensive. Brooke did go to a camp but not that one. She played better than the group that went to ND!!

PJ, it is tough dealing with "kids" at any age. Some times you have to wonder where they are coming from. Take heart....I can remember my mom at age 98 still asking me where I was going and when I'd get home!!!

TB, love the story!! That would be a very BIG NO!!!

Got to go..... emoticon

Good afternoon everyone:

Carol: I'm not sure how long you've been around; I've been MIA for several months. But just in case you're new, welcome - it's nice to see another Canadian on the thread. I've been the only one for a long time. emoticon

Tammy: My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours.

PJ: You're right. We never stop worrying about our kids, no matter how old they get; we just worry about different things. Enjoy your trip. It sounds like everything is well organized but then, with you involved, I wouldn't expect anything less.

Lily: Electrical/mechanical stuff is a complete mystery to me. Like you, if something fails on me when I need it, I want it looked at.

Sharon: I agree - the humidity is the killer. I can take all kinds of heat but when the air starts to feel chewy my asthma kicks into high gear. I don't like that one bit!

WG: Have you posted pics of your renovations? I'm so far behind with all the news ... emoticon

I worked on the reversible quilt this morning. I think I'll be able to get it done in time for the show as long as nothing goes wrong (fingers crossed).

I spent the afternoon with Red. I'm not helping at camp this week so I have lots more time for him. emoticon I had fun - I always do!

A camper anecdote ... I was in the tack room (out of sight) when the campers came in from their afternoon ride. I heard one of the girls ask Penny if she could ride "the pretty horse" tomorrow. Penny asked which one that was; the girl replied "you know, the big, red shiny one ... the one the lady in the striped t-shirt was riding".

Ummm - that would be "no". The comment was very flattering, though. And, of course, I'm completely unbiased emoticon when I agree that of all the horses at the stable he's the best looking.

I have been feeding him top of the line supplements and he works out (on the lunge line if I'm not riding) at least 5 times a week so he's looking very fit.

emoticon to everyone I've missed.

I'd better run. Talk to you soon.

Yesterday we had our BBQ everyone showed up and had a good time. Other than the HOT weather. The games went over with the little ones and the big ones entertained themselves with the ALS ice bucket challenge. We did not participate we were spectators (just the way we wanted). Food was good and it was nice to be together at some time other than for Christmas.

Today I am preparing for my 3 day trip to Iowa to visit with cousins and attend my auntís birthday party at the nursing home. Youngest DS asked to ride along I will be staying with my closest girl cousin and he will be staying with her son. So we can both go our separate ways for some time with people our own age to talk about lifeís problems in our own ways. Which I am looking forward to that opportunity with my cousin.

It seems that dealing with our grown children still causes us major stress issues. But it is comforting to know others are in the same boat as myself. One of the worries I have had with this son is that after all the work we did on his house earlier this year he still hasnít had the $$ to get it treated for termites. So I will be giving him the money to get that done it is much easier than to continue to worry and see them little bugs destroy all the hard work we did on the house.

Tammy you and your family are in my prayers at this difficult team.
LG hope your oven is fixed but donít blame you at all for keeping the repairman appointment just in case.

I may not be able to reply while I am gone but will be back by the end of the week if not sooner. Have a great week.

I go by the name of PJ and live north of KC, MO. Winter in East Texas.

Onward and Downward

Its always too soon to quit.

It may take me longer to get to my goal than my original plan but I will get there.

Afternoon.....

Been on the run this morning. Got the church laundry washed and dried but not ironed. Did some computer work and then headed upstairs to the MEcave!! Just decided to call it that last week. I'm working on a Christmas throw block by block. I have 2 done and working on the 3rd. My little iron died up there. emoticon I love that little iron and now I will need to go get another.

Not sure if I told you all or not. The other day I just decided to clear the panel on the oven and see what happened. So I hit the off key and the time came up and I waited for it to go back to ERR but it didn't. So a couple of hours later I turned on the oven. It heated up to temp and is now working fine!! I am not calling off the repair man because of the chance of it happening again and this time not working at all. So he'll be here Thursday.

We leave this weekend for Grand Rapids for my nephew's wedding. I'm looking forward to being with all my sibs but some of the drama I can do without!!

Tammy, emoticon to you. I have added your name to our prayer list at the chapel. So your family will have prayers being said 24/7 for a week. Take care. Hope that you can make it to Branson too!

SS, thanks for getting us the message. Don't go out in that humidity. It's terrible here too. In fact, Thomas and I were saying this morning that we think that our AC came on today and yesterday at the earliest time all summer. Usually it didn't kick on until afternoon but these 2 days it's been on early morning.

Hey, TB & Carol!! Good to see you two!!!

emoticon to all. I've got to scoot. Brooke has a volleyball game tonight at 6p.m. We'll be heading out about 4:30p.m.

Morning!

Tammy didn't have a lot of time this morning so she asked us from the RV team to share about her DB. He is not doing well and her DS from FL is on her way to see him in the hospital. Tammy was able to go see him yesterday. The hospital is about three hours from her so it's not like it is right next door. She thinks her and her sister will need to make some difficult decisions in the next few days so she asks that you keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

That poor lady has been through so much the last few weeks. Plus, she is also in charge of the RV Rally that we are having in Branson next month. At least there isn't too much for that as we will all jump in and help. I just pray her and Joe are able to attend after waiting a whole year to meet us face to face.

It's gonna be really hot & humid today - temps in the 90's. At least when it's this hot in AZ our humidity is low. It's the humidity that kills, not the temp!

Morning, ladies!!

Well, yesterday we headed out early and hit our farmer's market and then headed to Columbus for Luke's soccer game. They lost again but it was so hot and humid that I was surprised they didn't call it early. I was wringing wet when we left the field. We then went to a farmer's market up there and got a few things. Spent the day with them and then we went to Mass and out to eat to celebrate Rachel's birthday. We had a storm come thru and it poured on us coming home. Got here and it quit for just enough time to get into the house! Then the heavens opened up and it poured all night.

I've been playing catch up all morning trying to get laundry done and will tackle part of the house later today. We have 3 volleyball games this week!!

WG, your lasagna sounds great! Glad that your son was able to mow your grass for you. That is a BIG plus!!

Weezie2, love the bags and one of these days maybe I'll make some myself! I will tell you that there is a pattern out there somewhere for a mug rug with a pumpkin on it. But as talented as you are, you should be able to do one with no pattern!!

Weezie, glad that you had a great time with the grand kids and enjoyed the horse trials. And emoticon to you and Gary!! I have a friend who works at a horse therapy stable. She is so good with both the kids and the horses. I think the kids have autism.

Tammy, prayers for your DB and your family. This is tough. No easy choice.

TB, what can I say....have to tease you to get you to come here and post! I agree that you have to have that certain "something" with any animal to get them trained. Some people just don't have it. You are not one of them! I saw some of your pics on FB when you had the kids there for camp!!

PJ, enjoy your BBQ today. Hope the weather there is better than here.

emoticon Carol!!

Now I've got to get lunch!

Good morning. Have some meat sauce cooking for lasagna later today. It does taste good as I've had it "blending" all night. I didn't add salt last night. The recipe says it has 998 mg sodium and that is way too much for anyone. I dropped the sodium a little by getting sodium free tomato sauce and not adding salt until this morning when I tasted the sauce and it was a little bland. I'm totally OK with salt but need to make sure it is needed. Don't want everything tasting like a potato chip.

Having this 3 meat lasagna and chicken artichoke lasagna today with a sliced vegetable dish and fruit for dessert. It's been raining almost daily for a couple of weeks which is really strange for us here. I don't dare trust the weather. Not a lot of grilling days left, but we'll survive without this one today.

DS #4 came by yesterday and played with his brother at my house. Before he left, he mowed my lawn. I really appreciate that as I've not had time or it's been raining for a couple of weeks.

TB, have fun today. I know you love those horses. It is so good for you and helps you stay young. Am excited for the quilts to be finished. You put such wonderful effort into them. They are always beautiful and original. Am looking forward to the pictures.

Weezie2, your bags are beautiful! I love the differences in them as well as the choices of colors. You did make different handles and that makes them very different. I'm fond of the big bags but I carry crafting things in things like that.

Weezie, glad you are getting "grandma time" even though it does wear a body out. Glad the baby slept well. Where is his brother? Did you split them with the other grandma again? Sorry you won't get off early this week but it is what it is. School starts here tomorrow.

Tammy, that's a lot of dog sitting. Do you have to walk the dogs together or do you put them in the back yard? I'm glad the grands were at the funeral service. I'm sorry your brother is doing poorly. It sounds like your brother may have burned a few bridges before. It is never wrong to forgive but it takes a lot to be able to do that and his children might not be there yet.

I've got to run and get the chicken lasagna made. Putting them in the oven before church so they will be ready when we all get out. Interestingly since we attend 7 different church buildings, that we will all be getting out the same time. Hoping that continues in the future.

I don't know what happened to us this morning but we slept in until 9:30! Unheard of! I think it was because it's so dark and dreary and with our room darkening blinds the room remained dark! Oh well, nothing on our agenda for today and I guess our bodies needed the extra sleep.

TB - I also thought of you last night as we watched Horse Whisperer on TV. It's such a good movie and truly shows how that horse loved his rider so much he tried to save her life. They truly showed the bond between a horse and it's owner. Just think - you have a horse that loves you! Enjoy your time bonding although I'm sure you do!

To all the quilters and sewers - I so admire your work! It's truly a gift, believe me!

Tammy - I'm praying for your DB and you! He hasn't taken care of his body and now is suffering the consequences. How sad as it's also hurting all his loved ones. Gives us all the more reason to take care of our own bodies by eating healthy and moving! I will continue to pray for his recovery.

WG - I hope the sale goes through so you can get that off your mind. Our DS thought they had their house sold but the deal fell through. Now this week a lady came through and offered full price, cash sale! So things are moving quickly as she is buying with her divorce settlement and must move quickly. The property is perfect for her and her two horses. It looks like this time it will go through (fingers crossed for all of them)

This is a quick fly-by. I'll be heading to the stable soon and when I get back I have to get to work on those quilts.

Weeze: The friendship between a horse and human is like no other. I'm glad you got to witness a little bit of that. The next time you go make it a note to watch the horse's reaction to the rider's voice; it's like their focus narrows and they kick into another gear. Not all riders and horses have that kind of relationship, though. A lot of riders treat their horses like motorcycles. They don't take the time to bond; they just get on and ride. A well trained horse will obey but they won't put their heart into it, like the well-loved ones do.

Tammy: When I get the quilts finished (right now I feel like I never will but that feeling will pass) I'll post pics here. You won't see them on FB until after the show. I did post the Minkee pics when I first made it but that was so long ago I doubt that anybody would remember. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. What a terrible thing!

Hello, Weezie 2, Lily, PJ, Peajay, SEK, WG and anybody I've missed. Better run. TTYL

Thanks for al the wonderful comments on my bags. They're fun to do. That mondo bag is on my to do list. I had someone ask if I made larger bags last night.

It won't be long and I'll be starting those mug rugs and snowman bags from the patterns Pat gave use in Shipsee. I'll have to see if I can alter it and make pumpkin mug rugs. I love the idea of having a coaster that will hold a cookie too.

Have a Great Sunday!

Hi, Seesters!

Weezie2, great looking bags! I have two parts done and there they have sat for two weeks now. I don't see me getting back to them in the next few days, but not for lack of inspiration from your photos. Very nice!

Weezie, yes my first week is done. Lots and lots of time spent... and will be more still.

We have had the extra two dogs this weekend, and they should be going home today. SIL's dad's funeral was yesterday. SIL is still not good, but I don't know yet if they were able to get him to the service. I saw lots of FB pics of the gentleman's grandkids who attended the service.

DH says his leg feels better and he thinks the swelling is down.

DB is still heavily sedated and will be through tomorrow. We are hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst to the point that one of his friends is faxing the medical POA to the hospital tomorrow. As of now, there is no action on the part of DB's children. Perhaps it is too early, but I sense it is not. If I am right, they warned him twenty some years ago that if he didn't take care of himself that he wouldn't see the baby graduate from high school. She graduated two or three years ago, but he still did not take care of himself.

Our AC went out yesterday, but has been quite satisfactorily restored and not too bad $$$ even if a new compressor and new fan were needed.

PJ, I really like your upcycling!

TB, I will anxiously await your quilt photos!

Have a good day, Seesters and hello to everyone!

Good morning all,

Thought I'd sneak in while Kason is still sleeping. He did well last night. He cried once, I didn't jump and he rolled over and went to sleep. YES!! I think chasing Ava around for a few hours helped immensely.

Weezie, love the bags. Have you made a MONDO bag yet? 228 squares for that one. I love the photos of the ones you've made. You have done a great variety of handles as well. So impressed. Glad they went over well at the craft fair.

TB, thought of you yesterday when we were at the horse trials. Beautiful animals and clearly not a poor man's sport. The trailers and all the gear - amazing! The riders are clearly in tip top shape and enjoyed listening to the way they talked to the horses as they came to jumps and such. Clearly love their animals. Always a good time and the proceeds from the parking fee and program goes to CHEFF which is a facility nearby that uses horses as a means of therapy for a variety of things.

Pat, I'm sure you had a nice time celebrating Rachael's birthday. What kind of cake did you make and where did you go out to eat?

LG, hope you got some sleep.

SS, glad you still enjoy the bag I made you. Hope you and Norm are well.

PJ, are you working on any new projects these days?

Tammy, are you back to work at school? This is gonna be a rough week for us. I've actually toyed with going in today but think I'll renig and work late during the week. I'd hoped to take Friday off for a long weekend but it isn't gonna happen I'm afraid. Darn!

Okay, gals, just wanted to check in. I need to get around before the little guy wakes and wants food. He's 16 months and weighs 30 lbs. He's a big boy!! No wonder my back hurts after carrying him around a bit. LOL

Enjoy your day!

Just got home from the music festival and craft fair. It wasn't a bad turnout but I think the threat of storms kept more people away. The music was wonderful. Next year I need to pack bug spray. The mosquitos were terrible.

The large batik bag was the first to sell and I have an order to make another one. The activity aide at mom's nursing home wants the orange one so it looks like I'll be making quite a few more for the upcoming craft fairs. Woo Hoo!!! This is one happy crafter.

I'm off to bed...all that fresh air wore me out

Well I have the house cleaned cookies baked preparing for the BBQ tomorrow. I will now do some playing in my paints working on a Christmas project for DSís fiancť boys. I am taking some plastic cowboy boot mugs (we got in Branson a few years ago at Dixie Stampede) and painting their names on them with some Painted stitching decorations and will put something in them as a gift. I love reusing old things.

Sharon you need to get that cleaning done so you come back to a clean house. I always try to do that too. Speaking of ice cream I splurged and bought some of those little ice cream cup thingys for tomorrow. I remember growing up at some of our reunions that was such a treat and with those little wooden spoons.

WG good to hear you still have a potential buyer ready to move forward. It seems some patients can really be a big pain. Do find men are worse than women?

Tammy glad Joeís leg is somewhat better but donít let him overdo. Iím sure keeping the dog at least feels like you are helping out and its good that you can keep Buddy.

TB who are you again I have forgotten. TEEHEE glad to see you stop by and check in. And I might add its about time. But it does sound like you have been busy enjoying life. Good for you.

Weezie 2 good luck with the craft fair.

It's hot & humid here but we're headed out to the Metro Cruise where all the cool cars congregate along a 15 mile stretch of road. Lots of food booths and other fun stuff to do. My brothers band will be playing from 2-8 at Margie's Donut Den so we must stop in to wave hi.

I'm off for a fun filled day if the heat doesn't get in the way!

Good morning

I'll be busy getting caught up on laundry in between finishing up the last 3 midi bags I started. When I get them all finished I'll get a picture posted.

I hope our weather is good tonight for our music festival and craft fair. So far I'm just needed to help set up and tear it down. It will be interesting to see how well it goes over. It's the first one my parish is putting on. They want to try something different than the regular festivals for fund raising.

Enjoy your weekend!

Good evening all:

I'm still alive and kicking, although hardly ever around the thread. I do see that Lily is still picking on me, even when I'm not here ... hmmm, I'll have to check in more often to keep an eye on that gal emoticon emoticon

Tammy: I'm thinking of you and your family.

Weezies 1 and 2, PJ, WG, Sharon, Jo, Peajay, SEK, and anyone I've missed emoticon

This summer has been busy (in spite of Mother Nature's nasty mood swings). I've been helping out at the stable with camps, playing with my big red pony, taking lessons at stables 1 & 2, working on my quilts, and spending as much time as possible with Li'l G.

This busy(ness) is likely to continue until the last week in September because I've promised the quilt club that I'll submit 4 entries to the show on Sept 20/21 emoticon That actually isn't as bad as it sounds, though, because I'll be putting in the Minkee quilt that I made from the kit I bought in Shipshe and another lap quilt (already done). The 2 big challenges will be Celtic Sky (124" x 124"), a double Irish chain and a (120" x 120") reversible quilt. Celtic Sky just needs to be bound and labelled. The reversible quilt-as-you-go (not sure of the name yet) still needs a fair bit of work.

The entry form requires a title for each quilt and I've discovered that naming the quilts can be harder than putting them together. Some names spring to mind - others just ... don't.

So, take care everyone. I'll fly by when I can. I'm thinking of you all.

Hi, Seesters!

We have a new computer, new printer, and I personally installed Office 2013 this morning as well. I am now beginning to get some computer stuff done.

It was already very humid when I was out walking prior to 730 this morning. I am glad I could get out there early.

We have all three little dogs again. Buddy Dog is the granddaughter's dog. It is her dad who is still so bad; there is a question whether he will even be able to attend his dad's service tomorrow. The granddaughter and her family were taking little Buddy, but her mom decided to put the little family up at a motel because her dad is even having trouble tolerating too many people/noises, etc. PTSD perhaps? He has had several anxiety attacks, and after days of pain being 10+ - and he is a guy who does NOT complain - it is now at a 3. Anyway, granddaughter called DH this afternoon and asked if we could keep Buddy. It helps me feel a bit better about not being able to go ourselves. DH's leg feels somewhat better today and he thinks the inflammation is somewhat down.

WG, send the grands over to help me vacuum in the morning.

For those of you mentioning the bags, the pattern/materials are by the Quiltsmart company and they are mini, midi, and mondo bags. I don't know if anyone got a picture put up yet.

DD was telling me about a non-compliant patient the other night; he is refusing some meds which would otherwise help as there are mental health issues. [Yes, my mind did go there with DD...]

The town just east of us was out of power for most of the evening yesterday; there was an issue of a transformer that caused the outage. One of the area schools almost did not have school, but the power came on in time.

Gotta go take care of Sugar Dog.

My name is Tammy and I live in SW Missouri.

Good morning Seesters. Rainy this afternoon in time for the company picnic but nice this morning. I have Miss Belle, the Gunslinger, and Enterprise for the morning. Their dad went to my Mom's yesterday at the crack of ugly with his kiddos and met the inspector in preparation for earnest money. 4 hours later he was home and the offer was withdrawn. It was a big bother but all is well. I'm watching his children so he can get his "gills" wet. He loves swimming and finds such great release when he does. He hasn't been able to do it all summer with his wife home from teaching and the new baby.

The kids are watching a video after helping me vacuum. I've got laundry in and am sitting down for five minutes.

SS, glad you are feeling better. Deep cleaning is always good. Ice cream social sounds fun. You always seem to find fun groups.

PJ, glad you got your dad's nails done. They get nasty if they don't get good care. Is the barbecue Sunday?

LG, glad Luke needed to walk a bit. Sitting all that long isn't fun. Sounds like another fun day today.

All this fun bag making sounds tempting. I'll have to look into it.

Weezie, glad you are taking care of yourself and getting some grand time. Glad Ava is getting treatment although the original illness is a virus. There are whole cultures who have this illness. The "jerk" was a patient who was very non compliant and rude to everyone. I don't care what my patients say to me as long as they do what I want, so I was able to deal with him, but he never quit pushing limits and buttons. He had terrorized the aides. One of the girls I work with will tell people of but it isn't my style. It is a problem because he won't do what he should and he will be back. Other than that, he will probably die young as well. Then it won't be my problem any more.

The first buyer fell through. He wanted a property he could rent quickly and not have any work. I showed the house to the second potential buyer. They love the house and can see themselves living in it. They love the walls, the floors, the doors, the quirks, the large garage and storage sheds, the trees. Not crazy about the large yard, but a riding lawn mower makes it all worth it. My sister called them this morning and they are moving forward. Still looks like the house will be sold quickly.

Have a great day all

Now that I am feeling better and actually have some energy, I have been cleaning like mad! I enjoy a clean house and things went down hill this summer. Things were picked up and daily cleaning done but I needed to wash floors and stuff like that. I'm beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. A few more days of deep cleaning and it will be done!

Our park had an Ice Cream Social last night so we went for the social aspect but ended up eating ice cream and a piece of cake. They had cakes, pies, cookies and all kinds of toppings for the ice cream. We had a turn out of about 200 people. Not bad for our little community!

Morning, gals.....well my butt did recover but, good Lord, that is a long time to sit. I finally took Luke and we walked outside for a while between games but it was so HOT!! Tomorrow is Luke's soccer and we are celebrating Rachel's birthday which was yesterday.

Thomas and I went to Indy and believe it or not I didn't go to the quilt shop! emoticon Going to go to another one that I found up there later after our trip to Grand Rapids.

SS, it is fun to meet SP friends. And I know what you mean about when you don't hear from them. I wish TB, Bonnie, Becky, Jo and any one else that used to come here would come back.

Weezie, enjoy Ava later today and Kason tomorrow. Grand kids are so special!!

Weezie2, hope that Kami lets you get some sewing done.

WG, just being nosy here....who was the jerk??? emoticon emoticon

Tammy, emoticon

PJ, you will be busy today. I'm going to make a cake and take it to the museum to bake today for Rachel's birthday. Can't wait to get my oven fixed.

Got to get a move on....getting my hair highlighted today.

Weez or Weezie2 do either of you have a picture on your page of these bags? They sound interesting and maybe something I can do for my knitting group gift exchange.

I had a few of the bitty bags at the last craft fair a few weeks ago. Lots of interest but no one bought any. There wasn't a big turnout because it was their first one and I don't think the weather was all that good either. I have a few midi bags done for this Saturday's fair at church. I was going to ask what you'd charge for them. I brought a few in tonight to show mom and the activity aid told me not to put the orange one in the fair because she would buy it from me. I'm hoping they move that well this weekend :) I have enough orange squares cut out so I'll have to see if Kami will let me sew tomorrow. She likes to help so we'll see how good it goes.

Have a Great Friday!

Good evening. I'm home finally and ready for bed. I'm taking a minute to wind down and see if one of the potential buyers. They LOVE the house and spent the time wandering around seeing themselves in the house. The other guy is probably thinking "rental." The decision is still ours and my sister and I decided that now that things are going along, we'll make a decision based on whatever we want.

SS, I love Scots talking. I fell in love with a very old gentleman named McKay a few years ago. Except he was a patient and was married.

LG, hope you enjoyed the games. I think I'd want a gel seat but that makes you an old granny and you won't be an old granny.

Weezie, you are quite the bag making queen. I'm looking at a generator before the snow flies. I'll have to see.

Tammy, didn't your hubby have an infection or blood clot a few years ago?

Have a great day all.

Evening ladies,

Finally checking in and I do apologize. We've had a busy week and I just haven't gotten to the computer.

The generator was installed today which makes me happy. No more having to worry about the weather and power outages. It will kick on every Sunday a.m. for a few just to make sure it is working right. DH was here when the guys came and he was very impressed with their efficiency and work. Shoot, he even tipped them all. What a guy. LOL

Ava's skin issues were addressed this week. She did have Mollsum Catagiousum (something like that) but it had gotten infected so he did give her an antibiotic and ointment to help. I'm anxious to see what the sore look like tomorrow. She'll be spending the day with DH as he'd taken tomorrow off thinking it was install date but they moved it up a day so he took 2 days off. She'll be here Saturday as well and then hand her off and Kason (14 months) will be spending the night. I see little of anything getting done this weekend. Oh well, they are only little for a minute. The house will wait!

Been making bags again but nearly done with the batch for the gals in my knitting group. I am amazed what a big deal they think it is. Really, it's nothing. Enjoyed doing it for them.

Weezie, did you take the bitty bags to a craft show recently or is that coming up. Curious how they went over. What did you charge for them?

Pat, hope your butt recovered from the girls' games tonight.

SS, sounds like you had a great day. I bet listening to his voice would be mezmerizing. I love a man with an accent. :o)

WG, hope all is well in your world.

Sorry no one has heard from Jo and do hope she is okay.

PJ, interesting about the bracelet but if that is all it was. glad it was a 'easy' fix.

Now I need to get around for tomorrow. Had a nail appointment tonight so home later than norm. This girl is tired.

Hope you all have a great Friday and I will try to check back in a day or two.

We did indeed have another fun day with Heather and Alex yesterday. We took them to the beach at Lake Michigan and I think they really enjoyed it. Alex is from Scotland originally and I love to hear him talk. I could listen to him all day! A very warm and sincere couple. I never get tired of meeting my Spark Friends!

LG - sounds like you have a busy day on tap for today. Enjoy all your activities.

WG - sorry you had to deal with the jerk! Oh well, I imagine you run in to them more than you'd like.

Tammy - that is scary about DH's leg. Don't take any unnecessary risks. We want it all worked out in time for Branson. But I am sorry that you won't be able to attend the funeral on Saturday. It is a time of bonding as well as closure.

You know we get so attached to our Spark Friends, it is difficult when they just go away without warning. I, too, am concerned about Jo. I hope we hear from her soon. I am also concerned for a friend in the RV Enthusiasts (ANNINSD) who has been dealing with Ovarian cancer. The last we heard the Oncologist told her he couldn't do anymore for her and it was time to call in Hospice. Now she has went silent. NOT GOOD! And just recently we lost Alice (MABELL1WFTX) unexpectedly from a fatal heart attack. So even though it doesn't seem anyone cares about your post - you are wrong! We truly do care and love when you check in.
