sound very healthy. My husband does not watch football, I used to watch it before we got married, 30 years ago.

But I did inform him I was watching the game tonight, therefore no party food here.

But your food sounds pretty darn healthy. Enjoy !

Football is BIG in our family! So, we definitely have plans to have a superbowl party with family!
Menu will be somewhat healthy...I am trying!
Homemade chicken noodle soup, Cuban Sandwich Crostini, big veggie tray, artichoke and spinach stuffed mushrooms, oriental salad, seven layer dip with blue corn tortilla chips, shrimp cocktail, relish tray. Dessert will be fresh strawberries, key lime pie and cookies.

Between 8 and 10 glases daily. It's one of the easier things that I can do.

I like a banana or orange or 1/4C almonds (buy plain almonds in bulk, roast in your oven at 400 for 10 minutes to get that delicious roasted almond flavor - costs a lot less, and doesn't add more salt to your diet!)
12.5 lbs so far; people are starting to notice which is a really great reinforcement!

I have a couple bad habits: one being exercising, I procrastinate because I really have to push myself. It is just not a favorite of mine, but once I do it...I feel sooooo much better! My other bad habit is that I have a sweet tooth, if I am going to snack at night, it will be something sweet!
But I have really kept that in control, since Jan 1, no snacking at night! I hope I can keep it up!
But I will still eat some good dark chocolate ....won't give that up, besides it has many benefits! emoticon emoticon

I have a few bad habits.... my workout routine really suffers especially this time of year, I went to stay under the warm quilts. But I tell myself how good I'll feel once the workout is over, so that motivates me to get going. If I don't do it first thing then I have a tendency to make excuses not to do it as the day progresses.

My other bad habit is my procrastinating about alot of things, not just my workout, so I need to really push myself. Making a plan or schedule to follow usually works, as I feel wonderful as I tick each thing off.

On Saturday mornings I plan a menu for the week, then shop for the whole week. At home, produce gets washed, meat gets portioned and/or frozen.

On Sundays, I portion out individual servings non-perishable for the week - cereal, nuts, trail mix, etc. I also love cooking, so I'll usually make something for the freezer (soups or stews), prepare extra at weekend dinners (grilled chicken, rice), or boil some eggs to be used throughout the week.

Every week night (almost - hey! nobody's perfect) I pack breakfast, lunch and snacks for myself and my husband. With the snacks already pre-portioned, I usually just have to cut up some produce, make a sandwich, and or bag up the fixin's for a salad. It sounds like a lot of work, but usually only takes 15 minutes, cause I've already done so much on the weekend.

By the end of the week our fridge is usually bare - and that's a good thing, cause it means we've consumed heaping servings of produce.

Unfortunately, I regularly get tempted by junk food, and then I eat that in addition to my regular food. emoticon

Yes, I usually cook on Sundays and prepare my lunches in tupperware containers for the week. Sometimes I'll make a big pot of chili and will freeze some in the fridge.

I go shopping on Sat. so pick up what I need to cook on Sunday. It just makes it so much easier to be prepared.

Fail to plan, plan to fail.

all foods over the holidays were tempting for me and I did not say no to too much.

Hence a big weight gain, but that was in 2009 and I'm moving forward in 2010

My biggest temptation over the Holidays were my nine different types of Christmas cookies I baked! I gave alot away, but soooooo tempting, because its only once a year that I make them. So needless to say, I did struggle with not eating them and we still have some leftover, I may pack um up and take to school on Monday! emoticon

I have goals that I want to achieve in 2010, usually cause I have fallen off track during the holiday season, so that is what I usually work on for the new year.

Question of the Day: Do you make New Years resolutions?

I don't make an "official" list of resolutions, but I do make changes to be a better person and live a healthier life!

We always had a roast duck but since I got married it's usually a ham, but I'm having spareribs and scalloped potatoes this year.

Question of the Day: Do you have any traditional food for your meal on New Years Day?
We always have pork and sauerkraut, along with black eyed peas! I grew up with always having a pork roast, but the black eyed peas and collard greens are a new southern food added to our meal!
Happy New Year!

My favorite New Years Eve is to stay home, and that is the plan for us once again! We are making a surf and turf meal and watching the ball drop at Time Square. That's exciting.......I know!! LOL

This year, as with last year, dh and I are staying home and will not likely be up at midnight!

This year, however, youngest dd is having a New Year's/Birthday (her 15th was on Monday) Party. So we'll have a horde of @15yos home with us!

My plans for New Year's Eve..... am having a few friends in for food and non-alcoholic drinks.

I might put in a movie, or sometimes we just sit around and talk or play some card games. It's according to what they want to do.

But we always just have a laid back evening.

My favorite family tradition on Christmas Eve is to go to church with the kids and than go home and EAT!
We sit around and talk, laugh, munch, and just have fun. Even though our kids are in college, after they go to bed, we put the presents out around the tree. Great memories!! emoticon

We'll be having bacon, eggs and toast. But when I first get up I have a hot cup of tea with a homemade doughnut while opening our gifts.

My favourite cookie is shortbread, so I won't make them cause I would overeat and nobody else likes them.

I use both to wrap my gifts. I like to use gift bags best, but sometimes things are in boxes and must have wrapping paper.

I have everything wrapped except hubbies stocking stuff, so am ready.

When I was a kid we would open presents on Christmas Eve but I think that was because we went to visit the grandparents on Christmas Day where there would be more presents. Now we always open them on Christmas Day.

We always wait to open our gifts Christmas morning, makes for a sleepless night. Yep still a big kid this time of year.

We always let our son pick one gift to open Christmas eve when he was younger.

Thanks for posting this.

Our family tradition is we always open up our gifts on Christmas morning! Even though our children are older, in college, they are still like "little" kids on Christmas morning! I love it and would not have it any other way! Happy Holidays!
