When mine were that little we kept them mostly contained in their 'play room' (empty dining room with wider doorways. I found gates similar to this (Evenflo - Crosstown Soft & Wide Pressure Mount Gate) That fit up to 5 feet and they served us well. Looking on the babies r us website there are a few even bigger ones and extensions too.

Does anyone have any advice for keeping a baby contained to a limited area? I'm thinking I probably need more baby gates but my house is really open and most of the "door way" room openings are 5 feet wide or more so I'm having trouble gating it off with standard size gates. My 3 boys are 10 months old now and love running away and hiding or escaping. If I'm holding or changing one baby, the other two will see an opportunity and make a run for it if they can. Help! Any suggestions?
