Father's Day
"You don't need a special day to tell your father how much you love him. Express your love in words and deeds. Touch his hand, or give him a hug. And say that you love him in tender words. This Father's Day, make his eyes shine with happiness and pride."

For those among us blessed enough to still have their Father's here; those of us whose fathers are now with the Lord, maybe we can pass on the thought, or give a sign of love to some special father in our lives (husband, son, friend...)

And let's not forget to give some sign of love to our God our Father!

I bless your name forever and ever!"

If Jesus Had Not Died

Then [Jesus] said: “Behold, I have come. . .to do your will, O God.”
By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of Jesus Christ, once for all.
Hebrews 10:7, 10

I am part of God’s plan
To rescue fallen man.
When I placed my trust in Him I was set free!
And the faith that He gives
To believe that He lives
Is all for naught if Jesus had not died for me.

Chorus:
If Jesus had not died;
If He had not been crucified;
If He had called ten thousand angels to His side;
If He had come down from the tree
Then from my sin I’d not be free.
I’d be bound eternally if Jesus had not died for me.

All the debt that I owed
For my sin was bestowed
On my dear, loving Savior when He died.
He took it all willingly;
Paid the price, set me free.
I’d still be bound if He had not been crucified.

I belong to the flock
Standing on the solid Rock.
I’m secure as I walk the narrow way.
I have peace in my soul
As I reach toward the goal
That is mine because of Jesus’ death that day!

This song was inspired by a comment of a friend who wondered what would have happened if Jesus had settled on earth, married and raised a family.

As a human, He may have had such desires. But as God in the flesh, His purpose was not to please Himself, but to do the Father’s will and thus fulfill the Father’s plan. The plan was that Jesus, God’s only Son, would become the once and for all sacrifice – for all the sin – of all mankind.

No longer would the daily sacrifices of innocent lambs in the temple be necessary – for Jesus allowed Himself to become the perfect Lamb to pay the penalty that each of us owe for our sin.

If Jesus had fulfilled His own desires instead of fulfilling the purpose for which He came to earth, there would be no satisfactory sacrifice for our sin; and each of us – all of mankind – would be left to spend eternity without Christ. Because nothing we ourselves do is sufficient to pay for the awfulness of our sin.

This spoke to me today.

Don't Look Back

As you travel through life, there are always those times
When decisions just have to be made;
When the choices are hard and solutions seem scarce,
And the rain seems to soak your parade.

There are some situations where all you can do
Is to simply let go and move on,
Gather courage together and choose a direction
That carries you toward a new dawn.

So pack up your troubles and take a step forward-
The process of change can be tough,
But think about all the excitement ahead,
If you can be stalwart enough.

There could be adventures you never imagined
Just waiting around the next bend -
And wishes and dreams just about to come true
In ways you can't yet comprehend.

Perhaps you'll find friendships that spring from new interests
As you challenge your status quo,
And you learn there are so many options in life
And so many ways you can grow.

Perhaps you'll go places you never expected
And see things you've never seen -
Or travel to fabulous far-away worlds
And wonderful spots in between.

Perhaps you'll find warmth and affection and caring -
A "somebody special" who's there
To help you stay centered and listen with interest
To stories and feelings you share.

Perhaps you'll find comfort in knowing your friends
Are supportive of all that you do -
And believe that whatever decisions you make,
They'll be the right choices for you.

So keep putting one foot in front of the other,
And taking your life day by day.
There's a brighter tomorrow that's just down the road,
Don't look back, you're not going that way.

Martha

Thank you, Janet.

Yes, I composed the music too. Our pastor at the time that I wrote it was a very good singer, so he and I sang it as a duet then. Quite a few years later, in the church we are in now, our choir sang it. Otherwise it just sits in a file. I have others too - some good, some OK, some that really need to be re-worked! I've never figured out how to get them 'out there' so that others can enjoy them too.

Psalm 40:3 He has put a new song in my mouth — Praise to our God; many will see it and fear, and will trust in the Lord.

Marj do you sing the song in your church? Did you compose the music too? The words are very meaningful especially as we approach Easter.

With Easter on the horizon I thought I would share this-written sometime in the 80's.

Alive!

Jesus walked upon the earth
In great humility.
Was spat upon and often mocked
By some like you and me.
Yet willingly He walked the road
That led to Calvary.
He paid the price that all might live
In glorious victory!

Chorus:
And He’s Alive! Alive!
Alive for all to see!
Alive! Alive!
He lives in victory!
He lives in heav’n from now
Throughout eternity!
He lives that I
Might live in victory!

He hung for hours upon the cross
In deepest agony.
Yet His concern was not for self
But for all like you and me.
They laid Him in a stone-cold tomb
With much security.
They didn’t know He’d rise again
In glorious victory!

When Mary and the others came
They were surprised to see
The stone already had been moved
By God, not you and me.
And He was gone from that dark place
Alive for all to see –
Death no longer held Him there,
His was the victory!

THE BRIDGE

It seemed as if it came from nowhere
That voice I thought I heard.
It was just a whisper on the wind,
A soft and gentle caressing of my ear.
"Who will be the bridge?" it said
With a heart breaking plea.
I looked around to see
Who might be near and whispering in my ear
But no one could I espy.
So back to my preoccupation I went
When once again I heard those words
With a more insistent plea.
I began to pay more attention
And realized I felt a warm and gentle feeling
That is always there when God comes near.
I asked the Lord what He meant by those words
And His reply did swiftly come.
"Who will reach out to the wounded one
And give a helping hand?" He said.
"Who will pull the homeless
from the pit into which they fell?
Who will give of their time and bring
A precious child to my side?
Who will clothe the naked one
And spread the good news
Of my redemption and love
To a lost and sinful world?"
In confusion and fear
I told the Lord that I didn’t know how.
I was afraid I would be ridiculed
And people would think I had lost my mind.
His gentle reply reminded me
Of the suffering of His Son,
Of the ridicule and the beating
And of the cross on which He hung.
I realized then that I don’t need
To provide the strength or the words
All I need do is to be a willing vessel
And act as a bridge across the troubled waters
And God will do the rest.

AUTUMN SPLENDOR

A sweet and gentle wind
Goes swiftly on its way
A butterfly softly flying by
Looking for a flower pure
A bird soaring way up high
Looks on the world below
Sunshine softly caressing
Children playing without a care
Gentle rains falling down
Replenishing thirsty ground
Leaves of every hue
Display color for all to view
Nature giving of its bounty
With a harvest plentiful
All declare the Father’s love
He generously and freely gives

I thought this poem was beautiful

Let Me Surprise You.

"Let me surprise you", He said one bright day,
" Come witness the blossoms which grow on display.
Come see the flowers and birds which do sing,
The signs of creation, the signs of the spring".
So I paused and I looked, and I took it all in,
The blossoms, the flowers, and the birds which do sing..
I was taken aback by the beauty I saw,
Each thing was created, without even a flaw.

"Let me surprise you", He said one fine night,
" Come see the moon, which is shining so bright.
Come see the stars which all light up the sky,
A beauty so perfect - you cannot deny".
So I stopped and I looked at the great sky above,
And admired the creation from His simple love,
A sight I could treasure, completely for free,
A sight just created, as His gift to me.

"Let me surprise you, at the end of the day,
These things are all here, in this U.S of A,
Created for you, just the same as back home,
Wherever you travel, wherever you roam.
Your senses aware now,so far from your birth,
But I did make it all, on this wonderous earth,
The same sky you see, across the divide,
Is the sky I created, where'er you reside".

So I paused and I listened to all that He said,
His words were an echo inside of my head,
I knew what He meant, as He'd just made me see,
That the home of the brave and the land of the free..
Was a part of me now, a part of my soul,
He created it too, to share with us all..
Where does it matter, the place of our birth?
My home is His gift, our own sweet Mother earth.

DIP ONE MORE TIME
(Based on 2 Kings 5:1-19)

His life was good
He had it all
Riches were his
And good position too
But in the midst of his arrogance
Disease struck him down
His physicians had no cure
And folk medicine did not abate it
In resignation he dismally accepted
That fate had dealt him a deathly blow
But then a young girl
A servant of his wife
And a follower of God
Intoned a suggestion
That a prophet he should seek
And healing he would find
So the man sought out the prophet
Bringing money and riches
With which to purchase this cure
Go dip in the Jordan seven times
Was the prophet’s command
What? What foolishness was this?
That prophet should call upon the Lord
Wave his hands over me
And heal me of my disease
Why should I, a princely man
Wash within those muddy waters?
Angrily he turned away
Despondent and resigned
But then his servant queried of him
If something great
The prophet had instructed
Would he not have done it?
How much more then
Was the command
Wash and be clean?
The man went down to the Jordan
Not believing the murky water would help
But hoping against hope they would
He dipped himself once, twice
And a third time
But nothing changed
No cure appeared
Why am I doing this he thought
How foolish I must look
Again he dipped a fourth time
Then a fifth and sixth
But the disease still remained
What’s the use, why continue?
But something deep inside encouraged him
Dip one more time…just one more
With a sigh he went down
Washed once more
And rising up looked upon his flesh
What was this? How could it be?
The disease was gone!
His healing he had received!
In his joy he returned to the prophet
Rejoicing in the miracle
And giving praise to the Lord eternal
So if you are struggling
Have many woes in your life
Seek out the Lord’s will
Dip and dip again
Do as you are told
No matter how foolish it may seem
Because by dipping one more time
A miracle you might just obtain
Just dip…
Dip one more time

If I could catch a rainbow
I would do it just for you
And share with you its beauty
On the days you're feeling blue.

If I could build a mountain
You could call your very own;
A place to find serenity,
A place to be alone.

If I could take your troubles
I would toss them in the sea,
But all these things, I'm finding,
Are impossible for me.

I cannot build a mountain
Or catch a rainbow fair,
But let me be what I know best,
A friend who's always there..

The Reason God Put Me Here
I don't know how to say it, but somehow it seems to me
That maybe we are stationed where God wants us to be.

That the little place I'm filling is the reason for my birth
And just to do the work I do, He sent me down to earth.

If God had wanted otherwise I reckon He'd have made
Me just a little different, Of worse or better grade.

And since God knows and understands all things of land and sea,
I fancy that he placed me here just where he wanted me.

Sometimes I get to thinking, as my labor I review,
That I should like a higher place with greater things to do.

But I come to the conclusion when the envying is stilled,
That the post to which God sent me is the post he wanted filled.

So I plod along and struggle in the hope, when day is through,
That I really am necessary to the things God wants to do.

And there isn't any service I can give which I should scorn,
For it may be just the reason God allowed that I be born.

Loved this song by John Denver

Take Me Home, Country Roads
Almost heaven, West Virginia,
Blue Ridge Mountain, Shanandoa River,
Life is old there, older than the trees,
Younger than the mountains, blowing like a breeze

Country Roads, take me home
To the place I belong,
West Virginia,
Mountain mamma,take me home
Country roads

All my memories, gather round her
Modest lady, stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky
Misty taste of moonshine, teardrop in my eye

Country Roads, take me home
To the place I belong,
West Virginia,
Mountain Mamma, take me home
To the country roads

I hear her voice in the morning hour she calls me
Radio reminds me of my home far away
Driving down the road I get a feeling
That I should have been home yesterday, yesterday

Country Roads, take me home
To the place I belong,
West Virginia,
Mountain Mamma, take me home
Country roads

Country Roads, take me home
To the place I belong,
West Virginia,
Mountain Mamma, take me home
To the country roads

Take me home, that country road
Take me home, that country road

MOTHER DEFINED

M—magnanimous, magnificent, majestic and marvelous
O—open-armed, open-hearted, open-handed and observant
T—talented, tasteful, teacher, and tender
H—honest, helpful, hopeful, and hospitable
E—edifier, elegant, empathetic, and encourager
R—responsive, reassuring, refresher, and resourceful

Not all mothers are all of these things,
Some may only be a few

Thanks Martha, but the site is really unwieldy and there are some pages that never get viewed. It takes a lot of time to work on so I am not sure when I might make revisions.

WOMEN OF GOD

Women of God
Stand up!
Stand up and speak!
Speak out!
Tell the world of My love.
Tell them of My salvation.
Daughters of the Lord
Give words of encouragement.
Give them to your children.
Give them to your parents.
Give them to your spouses.
Give them to your friends.
Give them to strangers.
Give from deep down in your heart
Study, My daughters,
Study and learn.
Immerse yourselves in My Word.
Imprint My word on your heart.
Then speak, speak My Word.
Speak it to those you love
And speak it to your enemy.
Tell them of My forgiveness.
Tell them of my promises.
Tell them of life eternal.
Tell them! Tell them!
Then receive from My hand
Rewards for your righteousness,
And rewards for your obedience.
You are My precious daughters.
You are My arms reaching out.
You are loved beyond measure.
You are the vessels through which
My Word is to be birthed.
So stand up women of God
And speak out!

Just Five More Minutes

While at the park one day, a woman sat down next to a man on a bench near a playground.

"That's my son over there," she said, pointing to a little boy in a red sweater who was gliding down the slide.

"He's a fine looking boy" the man said. "That's my daughter on the bike in the white dress."

Then, looking at his watch, he called to his daughter. "What do you say we go, Melissa?"

Melissa pleaded, "Just five more minutes, Dad. Please? Just five more minutes."

The man nodded and Melissa continued to ride her bike to her heart's content. Minutes passed and the father stood and called again to his daughter. '"Time to go now?"

Again Melissa pleaded, "Five more minutes, Dad. Just five more minutes."

The man smiled and said, "OK."

"My, you certainly are a patient father," the woman responded.

The man smiled and then said, "Her older brother Tommy was killed by a drunk driver last year while he was riding his bike near here. I never spent much time with Tommy and now I'd give anything for just five more minutes with him. I've vowed not to make the same mistake with Melissa.

She thinks she has five more minutes to ride her bike. The truth is, I get Five more minutes to watch her play."

Life is all about making priorities, what are your priorities?

Give someone you love 5 more minutes of your time today!

Some people sit, some people try;
Some people laugh, some people cry;
Some people will, some people won't;
Some people do, some people don't.

Some people believe, and develop a plan;
Some people doubt, never think that they can;
Some people face hurdles and give it their best;
Some people back down when faced with a test.

Some people complain of their miserable lot;
Some people are thankful for all that they've got;
And when it's all over, when it comes to an end;
Some people lose out, and some people win.

We all have a choice, we all have a say;
We are spectators in life, or we get in and play;
Whichever we choose, how we handle life's game;
The choices are ours, no one else is to blame.

What a cute poem! It would make a good children's book...one done with pictures for young children.

Just for fun, maybe share it with a child.
FOREST FRIENDS

A forest morning is quiet and calm
With Chase and Cheese it won’t be for long
They’re scurrying here, they’re scurrying there
Waking up Owl and the old Snowshoe Hare

Under and over, up high and down low
The forest friends play and sing as they go
Chattering, squeeking and screeching about
We’re having fun! They yell and they shout!
Quiet! hoots Owl. You’re making a racket!
If you don’t quit I’ll tell Yellow Jacket!
And suddenly halted the forest friends’ play

We don’t want to get stung! Alright and ok.
Oh me and oh my they say both together
We better calm down by the look of Owl’s feathers
Ok let’s be quiet and sit nice and still

Pretend we’re flowers and rocks until…
Oh look at that! There goes the sun!
Time sure flies when you’re having such fun.

See you Chase! See you Cheese! Let’s play again!
Of course we will! We’re the bestest of friends!

A CLEARED CALENDAR

Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. Luke 5:16

How long has it been since you let God have you?

I mean really have you? How long since you gave him a portion of undiluted, uninterrupted time listen for His voice? Apparently, Jesus did. He made a diliberate effort to spend time with God.

Spend much time reading about the listening life of Jesus and a distinct pattern emerges. He spent regular time with God, praying and listening. Mark says, "Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed." (Mark 1:35)

Let me ask the obvious. If Jesus, the Son of God, the sinless Savior of humankind thought it worthwhile to clear his calendar to pray, wouldn't we be wise to do the same?

From a perpetual calendar I have:

God is never more than a prayer away.

"For your Father knows what you need, before you ask Him."

Thank you Marj.

Here's another to think about:

GOD'S TIMING

Why is it we are so impatient
For the answer to our prayer
Each time we petition the Lord?
And why is it we are so unhappy
When that answer isn’t the one
That we thought was right for us?
Have we all forgotten that God
Is our loving Father and always knows
What is the best way to answer those prayers?
Do we need to be reminded constantly
That the Lord knows all our needs
Even before we cry out to Him?
Why can’t we be content
And accept the way God works things out?
We often think we know the best answer
And try to manipulate
And bargain with the Lord
If only He would see things our way.
But like the loving Father that He is
He gives us what we really need.
Not what our selfish minds think we should have.
All of us need to learn to accept God’s way
And put aside our "me first" attitudes.
Our Lord Jesus gave us the greatest example
When in the garden He asked the Father
To spare His life and find another way.
But when the Father said
The sacrifice He must make
Our Lord Jesus accepted
And said these simple words
"Not my will but thine".
The Father gives to each
The perfect answer for each prayer
And He gives it in perfect timing.
Let’s all endeavor to say
"Not my will but thine"
No matter the answer He gives.

Why Go To Church
Some Christians have a hard time regularly attending church for a variety of reasons, but with the right pastor and the right place that makes you comfortable, your relationship with God will benefit immensely. Here's a great story about the importance of church :)

A churchgoer wrote a letter to the editor of the newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to church every Sunday. I've gone for 30 years now," he wrote, "and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 sermons. But for the life of me I can't remember a single one of them. So I think I'm wasting my time and the pastors are wasting theirs by giving sermons at all."

This started a real controversy in the "Letters to the Editor" column, much to the delight of the editor.

It went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher: "I've been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals. But I do know this: They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not given me those meals, I would be physically dead today. Likewise, if I had not gone to church for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today!"

When you are DOWN to nothing . . . God is UP to something.

Faith sees the invisible, Believes the incredible and Receives the impossible.

Thank God for our physical and our spiritual nourishment.

EASTER PROMISE

The week began so bright
Such promise was in sight
What a vision that day
A Savior so they say
Rode a donkey into town
Amidst the cries that did resound
Hosanna, our king we have found
But as the week went by
The favor of the people did fly
In the dark of night
He was taken from their sight
From High Priest to king
And back they did bring
This man so meek and silent
From their accusations they did not relent
Before the Roman governor He was taken
Who thought they must surely be mistaken
This man could not be
An insurrectionist, not He!
But the Priests did prevail
His follower’s cries were to no avail
Condemn Him to die
Was the Priests’ loud reply
Beaten, spit upon and bruised
He was vilely abused
Nailed to a wooden beam
Left to die, the end it would seem
Laid in a cold stone tomb
The world awash with a terrible gloom
On the third day a joyous surprise
This man God did make arise
Through Him was brought saving grace
And the hope to live in a heavenly place
His sacrifice seemed such a waste
When He died in such disgrace
But in our place He did die
With words of the prophets comply
His life He lay down
That we may gain a crown
With a love so pure
Eternal life He gives for those who endure
His arms He stretched out in love
That can only come from the Father above
If to save only one
This deed He still would have done
His never changing love is forever
Meant for all who at His feet would gather
The time draws nigh for the world we know to end
And wonders await us that we cannot comprehend
His promise is for one and all
Won’t you answer His fervent call?

Here are the lyrics of the famous Easter poem called ‘Easter Reflections’ by Helen Steiner Rice.

Easter Reflections

With our eyes we see
The beauty of Easter
as the earth awakens once more…

With our ears we hear
The birds sing sweetly
to tell us Spring again is here…

With our hands we pick
the golden daffodils
and the fragrant hyacinths…

But only with our hearts
can we feel the miracle of God’s Love
which redeems all men…

And only with our soul
can we make our ‘pilgrimage to God’
and inherit His Easter Gift of Eternal Life.

What a beautiful memory! Some don't like writing in their Bibles but I do it all the time, someday someone will go through it and be glad I did, just like you with your Grandmother's Bible.

My grandmother has been on my mind lately and I thought of this poem I wrote about her:

GRANDMA'S BIBLE

Grandma’s Bible lays by my side
It’s cover all tattered and worn
As I tenderly touch it with my hand
It seems as if Grandma were here once again
Memories of stories read from its pages
While sitting on her lap, my imagination ablaze
I can almost hear her soft and gentle voice
As tales of mighty heroes and their wondrous deeds
She lovingly retold
And Psalms with such emotion she would recite
As she gazed heavenward, her eyes all aglow
I leaf through the pages of this well-read tome
Finding little mementos left there so many years ago
This Bible testifies of her faith
And love of its true words
It reminds me what a treasure my Grandma was
She stands tall in my memory
A true pillar of faith
Yet in reality she stood 4 foot 9
But every inch of her belonged to her Lord
Through this diminutive lady
I learned of God’s love
And the importance of His Word
Grandma has gone to reap her reward
But she left with me her well-worn Bible
And now it seems as if she is saying
In this threadbare book you will find
All the answers you need
Keep it close by your side
Use it as your guide
Inside is the world’s greatest love story
Inside you will find the only true path
To life everlasting
And love never ending.

This song was one of my son's favorites and he sang it many times. My daughter sang this at his funeral.

The Anchor Holds

I have journeyed
through the long dark night
out on the open sea
by faith alone
sight unknown
and yet his eyes were watching me

CHORUS
the anchor holds
though the ship is battered
the anchor holds
though the sails are torn
i have fallen on my knees
as i faced the raging seas
the anchor holds
in spite of the storm

i've had visions
i've had dreams
i've even held them in my hand
but i never knew
they would slip right through
like they were only grains of sand

CHORUS

i have been young
but i am older now
and there has been beauty these eyes have seen
but it was in the night
through the storms of my life
ohh thats where God proved his love to me

CHORUS

What is a Smile?
A smile costs nothing, but gives so much.

It enriches those who receive it, without making poorer those who give.

It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever.

None is so rich or mighty that he can get along without it, and none is so poor but that he can be made rich by it.

A smile creates happiness in the home, fosters goodwill in business, and is the countersign of friendship.

It brings rest to the weary, cheer to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad, and it is nature's best antidote for trouble.

Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen, for it is something that is of no value to anyone until it is given away.

Some people are too tired to give you a smile. Give them one of yours, as none needs a smile so much as he who has no more to give.

A smile is contagious------let' start an epidemic !!!

THIS MAN

Triumphantly He rode into town
To cries of hosanna!
And blessed be the king!
Palm branches waving
Cloaks thrown down
Exultant worshipers
Praised this humble man
A week sped by
As He healed the sick
Made the lame to walk
And gave sight to the blind
His heart ached as He watched
Sanctimonious priests and scribes
Ignoring the cries of the needy
The leaders saw
Anger and jealousy ensued
They plotted and schemed
To make an end
Of this humble man’s life
An end to Him they thought
Would return peace and comfort
To their holy city
Within days they found a way
To bring about His demise
In a garden with a kiss
They had Him arrested
Before the High Priest
He was brought
False witnesses, vile lies
All were against this man
Kill they must!
Make an end to Him!
Before a Roman procurator
He was taken
Beaten and scourged
Cries of crucify! Crucify!
A crown of thorns
Laid on His brow
Mocked and scorned
Reviled and spurned
He was nailed to time’s cruel beam
He breathed His last
Beneath the skies darkened shroud
Laid within a cold tomb
It seemed His end had finally come
Three days later weeping mourners
Came to prepare Him
For His eternal rest
But much to their amazement
His body was not to be found
“He is alive!” angels declared
How could this be?
Queried all around
Only God could do such a thing!
Yes, only God could do it
And do it He did
All for the love of sinful man
Providing a path for the unrighteous
To become righteous
To reconcile all men
And give the promise of eternal life
An amazing thing was done
By the one and only Son
Of our heavenly Father
Guilt and sin laid on the back
Of this humble man
So sing praises
Shout hallelujah!
Give honor to our King
Accept the offer of eternal life
Given by this Man.

Easter is almost upon us and I'm sharing a song I love for this time of year.

It Is Finished - Bill and Gloria Gaither
There's a line that is drawn through the ages
On that line stands an old rugged cross
On that cross, a battle is raging
To gain a man's soul or it's loss
On one side, march the forces of evil
All the demons, all the devils of hell
On the other, the angels of glory
And they meet on Golgotha's hill
The earth shakes with the force of the conflict
And the sun refuses to shine
For there hangs God's son, in the balance
And then through the darkness he cries

It is finished, the battle is over
It is finished, there'll be no more war
It is finished, the end of the conflict
It is finished and Jesus is Lord

Yet in my heart, the battle was still raging
Not all prisoners of war had come home
These were battlefields of my own making
I didn't know that the war had been won
Oh, but then I heard the king of the ages
Had fought all the battles for me
And that victory was mine for the claiming
And now praise his name, I am free.

Here's another song, one I like to sing with kids:

This is the day
This is the day
That the Lord has made
That the Lord has made
I will rejoice
I will rejoice
And be glad in it
And be glad in it

This is the day
That the Lord has made
I will rejoice
And be glad in it

This is the day
This is the day
That...the...Lord...has...made!

Sharing the words of a great song:

Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of earth with grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace

No More Fear

Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid. Isaiah 12:2

The Word "Armageddon" shows up daily as journalists discuss the fears facing our world. But perhaps the thing bothering you today isn't Armageddon. It's the deficit in your bank account, a problem in your home, or a rift in your church.

One of the great phrases in the Book of Revelation is "no more." We're told of a day for God's children when there will be no more tears, no more death, no more sorrow, no more crying, no more pain.

Clarence Macartney said: "When I read those great 'no mores' in the book of Revelation where the heavenly life is described...I feel I would like to add another great 'no more'---'There shall be no more fear.' When Christ was born at Bethlehem, that was what the angels said to the shepherds, 'Fear not.' Christ cane to banish fear...Over the portals of heaven are written these words, greeting man as he enters the heavenly city, 'Fear not!'"

Whether you're worried about Armageddon in the future or aggravations today, trust Him and don't be afraid.

Yes, I recognized it but it still holds true today, maybe even more so. It's more than worth a second time around, just in case someone missed it the first time. And our politician are a pathetic group for sure!!!!

I like that Brenda, sister/cousin!!!!

This would be a good one to copy and paste

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have done.

We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare. We have killed our unborn and called it choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable. We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem.

We have abused power and called it politics. We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition. We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.

Search us, Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us and forgive us from every sin and Set us free in Jesus name. Amen!'

With the Lord's help, may this prayer sweep over our nation and wholeheartedly become our desire so that we may again can be called
'One nation under God!'

Think about this: If you forward this prayer to everyone on your e-mail list, in less than 30 days it would be heard by the world.

WALK WITH ME

When it appears there isn’t one
To walk by your side
Turn to Me, I am the Son
If the way seems hard
And the day seems long
Come with Me
And sing My song
If you feel bereft
All your loved ones
They have left
Do not feel sad
Do not give up
Nor be dismayed
When you look left and right
And cannot find hope
Nor a friend in sight
Then look up
Turn My way
I am always there
By you side I will stay
There is no need
For you to be afraid
At My feet
Your fears can be laid
When your money is short
Your responsibilities hard
Let Me take it
I do not drop my guard
Come with Me
Take my hand
And you will see
We’ll walk side by side
You and I
For it is for you
That I did die.

Just a sweet little verse:

In the stillness of the night I bow
And ask, "oh Lord what should I do now?"
He cups His hands around my face
"sweet child, lay it down at my throne of grace."
So as I place it before His feet,
......A peace washes over me oh so sweet.
And when I awake in the morning light~
I have no doubts that He'll make things right.~~

NAIL IT

Do you have worries?
Are you often afraid?
Do troubles seem to never stop?
Nail it to the cross!

Do you find yourself falling?
Do you often have to begin over?
Does it appear there is no good?
Nail it to the cross!

Is your body wracked with pain?
Are your thoughts driving you crazy?
Does it seem no one cares?
Nail it to the cross!

Does your money always fall short?
Are your bills piling up?
Have your creditors begin hounding you?
Nail it to the cross!

Do you often find yourself in doubt?
Are you often going without?
Does this make you want to shout?
Nail it to the cross!

Long ago Jesus took your pain.
He was beaten and reviled that you might be healed.
Ask, you will receive was His promise
Nail all your troubles to the cross!

THE BRIDGE

It seemed as if it came from nowhere
That voice I thought I heard.
It was just a whisper on the wind,
A soft and gentle caressing of my ear.
"Who will be the bridge?" it said
With a heart breaking plea.
I looked around to see
Who might be near and whispering in my ear
But no one could I espy.
So back to my preoccupation I went
When once again I heard those words
With a more insistent plea.
I began to pay more attention
And realized I felt a warm and gentle feeling
That is always there when God comes near.
I asked the Lord what He meant by those words
And His reply did swiftly come.
"Who will reach out to the wounded one
And give a helping hand?" He said.
"Who will pull the homeless
from the pit into which they fell?
Who will give of their time and bring
A precious child to my side?
Who will clothe the naked one
And spread the good news
Of my redemption and love
To a lost and sinful world?"
In confusion and fear
I told the Lord that I didn’t know how.
I was afraid I would be ridiculed
And people would think I had lost my mind.
His gentle reply reminded me
Of the suffering of His Son,
Of the ridicule and the beating
And of the cross on which He hung.
I realized then that I don’t need
To provide the strength or the words
All I need do is to be a willing vessel
And act as a bridge across the troubled waters
And God will do the rest.

Girl Guides (Girl Scouts) forms in Savannah,

by Juliette Gordon Low.

Juliette "Daisy" Gordon Low assembled 18 girls from Savannah, Georgia, on March 12, 1912, for a local Girl Scout meeting. She believed that all girls should be given the opportunity to develop physically, mentally, and spiritually. With the goal of bringing girls out of isolated home environments and into community service and the open air, Girl Scouts hiked, played basketball, went on camping trips, learned how to tell time by the stars, and studied first aid.

Within a few years, Daisy's dream for a girl-centered organization was realized. Today, Girl Scouts of the USA has a membership of over 3.2 million girls and adults, a significant growth from its modest beginnings nearly a century ago. In fact, more than 50 million women in the U.S. today are Girl Scout alumnae. Girl Scouts is dedicated to every girl, everywhere

Introduce my self? ok..
I am a 60 yr old gramma who has had diabetes for almost 43 years. Top weight was 260 Have lost 30 lbs but took me several years. Am hoping for a bit more sucess with this support group.
I have 2 sons (and a daughter in heaven). I also have 3 grandsons and another grandson in heaven with my parents a various aunts uncles, etc.
I am a retired navy wife. We spent 20 years in Uncle sam's navy , and I for one enjoyed the entire time...Would never have seen the things I have seen if I hadn't married into the navy. emoticon We have been OUT almost as long as we were in, now. And I still consider us 'military'. emoticon
I guess that's enough for now, don't wann overwhelm any one. emoticon

I received a little song today and thought I would share it. Then I thought we all might have songs, poems or writing that you would like to share also.

This is Jesus Loves Me for Seniors (sing along)

Jesus loves me, this I know,
Though my hair is white as snow
Though my sight is growing dim,
Still He bids me trust in Him.
(CHORUS)
YES, JESUS LOVES ME.. YES, JESUS LOVES ME.
YES, JESUS LOVES ME, FOR THE BIBLE TELLS ME
SO.
Though my steps are oh, so slow,
With my hand in His I'll go
On through life, let come what may,
He'll be there to lead the way.
(CHORUS)
When the nights are dark and long,
In my heart He puts a song..
Telling me in words so clear,
"Have no fear, for I am near."
(CHORUS)
When my work on earth is done,
And life's victories have been won.
He will take me home above,
Then I'll understand His love.
(CHORUS)
I love Jesus, does He know?
Have I ever told Him so?
Jesus loves to hear me say,
That I love Him every day.
(CHORUS)
