I made a tomato soup in the slow cooker to have for lunches and one dinner. I will also freeze half. I'm making a penne a la Vodka with garlic bread for dinner tonight. Got to watch the snow while I cooked. Nell it is the same here. Not as cold as February, but average February temperatures. This is getting very old.

It's 27 degrees now, not getting out of the 30s today. The Polar Vortex isn't as Polar as it was last month but it's still cold. These are the average temps for the average February around here. It's a good day to stay in and clean, and I have pizza dough rising for dinner tonight.

It was a grey day today. Last night I made a double chocolate pudding for our church pot luck tonight. I am hoping there will be a seafood or vegetarian option. Even if there isn't I am sure there will be salads and side dishes. They are saying snow tomorrow. I guess it is snow clothes for Palm Sunday. Barbara after your chickens, I think I am going to roast one as well.

I'm making a pasta frittata tonight. It's a Friday in Lent so no meat. I remember when a meatless meal was quite a sacrifice, back when I was a kid. Not anymore.

Neither lion nor lamb--97 degrees yesterday and today. Good news is that it is cooling down to the 80's tomorrow.....crazy.

I made another roast chicken on Wednesday. So I am such a happy camper with chicken to grab for lunch or dinner or whatever I want! I was out last night but I had some for lunch and tonight I am having my weekly pork chops.

We have a lamb day today, one brief 75 degree tease before storms come across tonight and the temps go back to high of 40 low of 20 on Saturday. The poor cherry and apple trees must be totally flummoxed. I'll have to be bundled up for Palm Sunday.

Tonight is fajitas. Easy and yummy.

This week feels like a really long week. It is rainy, but it is warmer and the wind has died down. I made a hamburger, noodle, cottage cheese casserole for dinner last night. My plan is to make Greek Turkey Burgers topped with baby spinach cucumber sliced and some titziki. The fog is enveloping us, and the planes have been grounded. As for March going out like a lion. I don't think the lamb ever paid us a visit.

Well I was on the mainland and now returning to the island. I had Peruvian, French, and Indian food. The Indian was for lunch after my meeting and the leftovers will be my dinner. We are getting the same polar front Nell. If it continues, I will be chipping of ice for Easter. Rita glad things are better now.

Tonight I'm making a wild rice, sausage and veggie dish for dinner. I love it, it's fatty (but not too fatty) and crunchy. One of my faves!

We are still getting polar fronts coming through, but 20 degrees below normal is more like 35 than 5.

I am on the mainland for the weekend. It snowed Friday and didn't stop until yesterday afternoon. Today it's cold and windy. Someone forgot to tell Mother Nature spring arrived Friday. By the time I got to Providence, it was too late to get fresh seafood for dinner so we went to a great Peruvian restaurant. I had a wonderful shrimp curry. I am meeting a friend for lunch today. Tomorrow I have a meeting in Providence Monday and will return to the island Monday afternoon. Rita I hope your place is back to normal.

I just saw that globally this was the warmest winter on record even though we had our coldest February in many decades. When I paid my last heating bill, a little warming would have been nice this winter. Sophie, I saw your winter storm getting ready to hit you. What a winter for New England!

I made hash out of the last of the corned beef. I'm glad that's gone for another year.

OK for probably the one hundredth time I am just saying I have had enough winter. It was freezing. There were wind gusts up to 50mph. The are saying a low of 19, and 2" of snow on Friday. I had a meeting that went to after 10 tonight. Fortunately I had some leftover chicken chop suey to reheat for dinner. My goal is to do a better job eating breakfast. I am not a breakfast person, but I am finding I enjoy cottage cheese mixed with fresh fruit. I can prepare it and take it to work and eat it leisurely. I may try taking Irish oats In individual packet to microwave at work with diced apple.

Gayle sorry to hear you have been sick. Nell glad the colonoscopy is over for you and the polops are gone. Lisa the mushroom burger sounded really good. Barbara send some of that weather our way.

When I had my colonoscopy a few years ago, the doctor told me afterward that he found a couple of small polyps and "snipped" them, no worries.

They found 4 polyps, whatever that means. I am starting to be able to eat normally now. I think it was the two days of not eating. Really three because I sure couldn't eat much after the procedure. I'm always nauseated after anesthesia. DH wanted corned beef and cabbage tonight, but corned beef is just too fatty for right now. I was able to eat cabbage and a piece of potato. It was good to go grocery shopping today and see things I could eat, not just things I couldn't eat for a few days.

I have so many leftovers in my refrigerator I have to eat leftovers before I can cook again. Barbara glad the temperatures are cooling. I hate cold, but sometimes it is easier than hot. It was brutal. We are getting some cooling, down to the eighties and possibly in the 70s.

I am volunteering this afternoon at the library bookstore. It is a good thing but it is so boring!! I am bringing my book, but even so. Ugh. I am committed to doing it next week, too, and I have a feeling I am going to be roped into another couple of weeks after. The ladies who have been doing it forever are very old and having such health issues that they can't keep up. I am just not ready to make it a regular thing.

It was 70 here today, but I spent the day sleeping off the anesthesia so couldn't get out and enjoy it. I was going to make pancakes for tonight, but DH says he doesn't feel good and just wants Campbell's soup. It's a good thing I have some, I haven't eaten canned soup in many many years. So I guess I'll get back to normal tomorrow night, St Patrick's Day.

Hard to imagine heat exhaustion in March.

Had a day out with a couple of m,y friends--we went down to Chinatown and ate at Pok Pok Thai which was really good. THen we had something at another restaurant which I am blanking on--something about Taste of New Orleans. We split a po boy there which was also good. Now I am feeling the salt!! It is over 90 and what passes for humidity here i Los Angeles. Still, since we don't geet humidity, anything is uncomfortable.

The rain has gone and the sun is shining though they are saying more rain in the late afternoon. Well DH felt sick so we missed the St Patrick's Day party. I made some Tom Kha Gai for dinner with a small whole wheat baguette. While I enjoy cooking shows, if it's something I like it makes me hungry.

This is my second day of clear liquids for the colonoscopy tomorrow morning. I can still do my walking, but it makes me so hungry! I tried to watch my recording of Iron Chef, but decided I should wait until I'm not so hungry.

Hi all. Well I haven't been on for a few days but I hope to be on alot more now. Weather has just been amazing. Been spending most of my time outside with my family and niece and nephew since I've been babysitting alot. Weighin day was today too, and I lost 1lbs. Not great but I lost and thats wonderful.

I can and will do it. For me, for my daughter, for my family, for God.

I do not think my daughter wants that; she already gets diarrhea from her Irritable Bowel Syndrome. She has tried to lose weight the other way and it came back. She was told that if she wanted a sweet that she would only be able to have a very small piece; otherwise she would have problems. Pastries and doughnuts were her downfall before. She would buy doughnuts and eat them up in a few days.

She CAN eat sweets and pastries, but she'll have unrelenting diarrhea from it. She'll also have to take vitamin B12 and other supplements for the rest of her life because there isn't enough intestine left to absorb the necessary amount.

No sweets or pastries! Wow that would be terrible ...and that is probably will be the items she will be wanting the most? But if it for the best then with family and friends helping her along she will make it!

We have had real nice warm weather here in Wisconsin the last couple of days. It is supposed to get colder next week again; but only in the 30's. I had a colonoscopy but did not have to fast for two days though. We had tofu fettuccine for lunch and supper today along with garlic bread, soup, and jello salad. Going through all my recipes and throwing out the recipes for pastries and desserts. My daughter is having a gastric bypass in May and she cannot have any sweets or pastries at all; for the rest of her life. Only one cup of coffee with milk not creamer. Only sugar free jello and pudding. Life will be different in this household then.

Well it was a bit cooler, but still sunny and spring is definitely working hard to get here. DH coming out tonight with groceries. We are going out for dinner as I am very low on food and he doesn't get here till 7pm. Tomorrow we are going to a St Patrick's Day party. It is supposed to rain all day tomorrow which is not making me happy. I really wanted to take the dog to the beach for a walk.

Nell I have been working in healthcare for more years than I am willing to disclose. I spent from 2000 until 2006 working on a National Cancer Institute grant. I have never heard of a 48 hour prep. I would really be curious to learn when the practice changed. It used to be you started at some point the day before and then had the procedure the next morning. We referred a staff person in tha past four months and his program was not two days.

Barbara, it's for a colonoscopy. For some reason they want me to do a two day prep. That's two days without food and two nights of cleansing. 3 days from now it will be over. This weekend will test my ability to stay positive.

60 hours without food seems insurmountable, but I guess people do it. Jesus went 40 days and 40 nights. Ghandi did a one month hunger strike. That's some pretty exalted company.

Condo board meeting tonight so I didn't cook. I'll make dinner tomorrow night, then I have to fast for two days to prep for a colonoscopy on Monday, so no cooking over the weekend. Between the boredom and the hunger I'm not sure how I'll make it.

So it was another beautiful day, and not so muddy. Tried a new stir fry chicken curry that was in Cooking Light. Will make it again. Finally the week is ending. Rita glad to hear your weather is so good.

It was another lovely day. It started off a little foggy because it was warm, but then the sun came out. I didn't get home till well after eight tonight so I had some leftover tuna casserole which was perfect. It is interesting how much more energy I have since the cold and snow have gone away. Barbara I think the weather has been crazy everywhere lately. Rita I hope the sun burned through your fog. Nell ricotta gnocchi sounds wonderful. How did it turn out?

Tonight I'm making ricotta gnocchi but I'm going to fry them in butter after cooking. I've never done that, but I've seen it on the Food Network so I'll give it a try.

IT was a good discussion.

I'm making a slow cooker pulled pork tonight.

Weather has been so strange, but that is not unusual for us. It got into the mid-80's, but today is a little dreary and cooler, but it is supposed to get back into the 80's tomorrow. Never know what is going to happen when I get up in the morning!

Fog, here, too, but that's because it's warm. What an improvement over snow, though there is still a lot of it on the ground wafting moisture upwards.
