Good morning everyone!

Vicki I am so glad to hear about your progress! My DH has been cooking either low sodium or sodium free for years now. (I have high blood pressure).

It's criminal how much salt, and sugar for that matter, is in everything! There are some good low sodium sites on the net!

Well, I am trying to get my mojo back for losing some weight but I don't have it back yet! I did walk my two miles today, but my food choices haven't been the best. I did not eat one veggie yesterday... today will be better I hope! :)

Hello everyone. Hope you're having a good Wednesday so far.
It's been a stressful 5 days but things are improving daily. Bob is following the doctor's orders and really working to do what he was told he needed to do. And I'm following suit so it's less stressful for me. Going to have to really read labels from now on and buy the lowest sodium foods as possible. But it's something I've wanted to do all along. Bob would fight me over it in the past, but now he's all for it. And he's steadily dropping weight and so am I now.
Hope you have a terrific Hump Day. emoticon

Vicki, I agree, I remember that he was fighting you over getting on a healthy diet. I am just so thankful that the doctors were brutally honest with him. I guess he didn't realize what a slippery slope he was on! But really do any of us at times? I finally quit smoking after so many years of turning a blind eye on just how bad it was for me. Then I gained 50 pounds... took me like forever to realize I was going downhill. Well my doctor was also kind enough to tell me "You are falling apart"! Imagine my surprise! I thought I was doing good! So here I am right there with you and Bob trying to get healthy... :) We can do this by taking it one day at a time.

So far, so good. He slept well last night ( we both did), and we're checking labels like crazy to keep him and myself on track. It's not going to be easy but at least he's no longer fighting me on this. His very life depends on getting his weight down now and he realizes this, so that's half the battle right there.

Good morning team,
Hope you're all having a wonderful start to your Friday.
I'm doing much better since starting the new meds. Not hardly any pain at all now but I did have a next to sleepless night last night due to the prednisone, which was a surprise as it didn't do me that way last year when I was on it. But maybe it won't happen again tonight. I sure hope not. Anyway, I'm feeling much better and that's a true blessing. It's awful when you can barely move without pain, so when the pain is gone, it's truly a blessing.

Last night I was in a LOT of pain and didn't get a whole lot of sleep but some of the pain subsided. This morning I'm on the first dose of the new meds and hopefully will see a big change in how I feel over the next couple of days.
Hope everyone is having a great day.

When the inflammation hits my spine, it effects my left thigh all the way down to my knee. With all the walking today, it's been pretty bad but I start with the new meds in the morning.

Good Morning,
Heading out in a few minutes to start the huge mid month shopping and bill paying. I'll get in over 3 hours of walking today. Thank goodness our doctor wrote me the prescriptions yesterday for the pain meds. I will need them as my left leg is very bad.
Hope everyone has a great Wednesday.

No, Bob hasn't started the low carb yet. He starts Thursday after we shop for it tomorrow. Read my blog for the day. We just got back from the doctor's.
I can't have chips and dip in the house. It wouldn't last no time at all.

I hope Bob has a good checkup. He has been eating low carb so hopefully that will help.

I had a slip up last night... I had a weak moment and bought some chips and dip the other day at the store and of course I ate too many of them last night! I was so surprised that my BS was only 94 this morning....!!! But they are gone now so :) I will go back to plugging along!

How is the walking going Vicki? My hips were hurting me yesterday but I just took an aspirin later :)

Good Morning,
Bob has a doctor's appt. this morning so we'll see how badly he gets chewed out over his weight. He had blood work done last week so we'll find out those results as well. Hopefully he can continue to stay off of the Metformin.
Hope everyone has a nice Tuesday.

We use Tylenol arthritis mostly.
I don't know if Bob will stick to the low carb more than the rest of Sept. But he'll have to go that long once groceries are bought since there won't be any money left for other foods once we hit the grocery store on Wednesday. Maybe he'll see such a big drop in the 3 weeks he'll keep it up.

Thumbs are a bit better today. I took some aspirin last night. I can't seem to find any other meds that help without making me sick to my stomach. What do you take?

Thanks so much for the kind words. It's good to be back. I hope your thumbs ease up. Do you take anything for the pain?
Hubby has decided that starting next week he's going to join me doing the low carb plan. He realized when he fell the other day how hard it was to get him up off the floor so he wants to get at least 50 lbs off for now. It'll make it easier on me with him working with me instead of against me. I'll keep you posted on our progress.

Vicki, I know all about joint pain, right now both of my thumbs have been killing me! I was been painting my bedroom (slowly) and switching off hands and still pain!

That is so good that you are pushing yourself to get those walking minutes. When I first started I was the same way and couldn't do as much as I would of liked! My doc said walking would help my hips and it has, but it's taken years to get to where I can do 2 -3 miles a day!

I am so glad you are back Vicki!!

Yeah some people don't like the tang of yogurt of any kind! Hope he does like it though!

I had to eat a veggie platter with hummus today for dinner!! Because I was eating cookies and ice cream (right before dinner) because I got hungry at the wrong time and place!

I am never going to try to grow tomatoes in a pot again! And I wished I would have gotten cherry tomatoes... oh well! DH picked one of them and it is on my counter. Hope it is good when I eat it tomorrow. Can't eat it right now cuz of the sugar!

I just picked a bunch of tomatoes. They are all small, but they are red!! None of the cukes are ready to pick yet. But they are getting there.

Saw a new recipe today for Twice Baked Potato Casserole. I'm going to try it...and not tell DH that it has Greek Yogurt in it until after he likes it.

The choices you make today will determine the path that your life will take.

Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

I looked at my plant and I saw two little zucchini growing and lots more buds! Also two tomatoes are trying very hard to turn red!

I've been reading Bleachers by John Grisham because a girl was talking about how good it is in my book club on Spark People. So far it is pretty good!!

Your potato soup does sound yummy! DH made kabobs for us! With chicken, mushrooms and red & green peppers!

I got up fairly early and finished a book. DD and I went for a walk on the Green Belt and DH and I went to the gym. Made potato soup too. Yummy!!

Yep !
I've been busy getting our bedroom ready for the new bed. We got an adjustable bed so Bob could have the elevation he needed, so I had to take off the old mattress and box springs, then remove the screwed in slats, so the new bed frame will fit inside the old one. This way I could keep my head board and foot board. After that I had 3 loads of clothes to wash and dry, including sheets and comforter, then fix dinner, then clean up the kitchen. So I've had a busy day today.
Hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day.

I think it'll work out fine. I just spent the last hour breaking down the old bed so the mattress and box springs can go out into the garage and getting the slats removed ( screwed in ). We can still use the bed frame, head board and footboard. But I had to then vacuum under the frame as when it's all together it was too heavy to move to vacuum and my vacuum wouldn't go under it. Just getting that dust up should help with the breathing. LOL!

I got another cucumber from the garden today and I expect two more to be ready tomorrow or Monday. I also have four or five tomatoes that are turning. I'm pretty happy with it, but would love a few more tomatoes and bigger. But I'll take what I get.

I have only gotten one tasty zucchini so far but haven't checked about three days! If I start getting lots I will bring them on the next walk! How is your garden doing? I also only have one tomato and it is almost red! DS got me a nice pot so I tried the tomato plant in a pot.... won't do that again :(

Hi Christine!! Long time no see! Ha! I'm over 25,000 steps for the day. Almost a record day for me. Tired now, though. Bed is coming early tonight.

We just went to "Mattress 1" and got an adjustable bed. It'll be delivered Monday. It's only single control but it's a really nice one and we got it financed where we have our car financed so there was no problem at all. Bob really needs to be able to sleep elevated so I'll be sleeping that way too. But I don't mind. We picked a Sealy ultra, and it has a 25 year warrenty on it. And the monthly payments aren't but $53.02 a month for 3 years. And the adjustable frame will fit right in our regular bed space so we can still use the headboard and foot board of our regular bed. We also got a special pillow, which I will use and a mattress cover. It was a really good holiday sale.

Things go more smoothly if DH doesn't help me paint. I have my ways. He has his. And they don't coincide!

We had Pampered Chef sausage and chicken enchiladas. Yummy and it makes enough for leftovers the next day. I believe I'll make potato soup tomorrow. Yummy!

I have a pkg of 15 beans in the pantry... that sounds really good! My DH made us taco meat so I hope to make a taco salad later on.

I'm still trying to get my bedroom painted! What an ordeal! DH does not paint so I have no help! :( Good thing he cooks right? :)

I made 15 bean soup for supper in the crockpot and added a chopped up pork loin roast to it. Man, it was good. We'll be having that a lot from now on. And with what else I had today, my sodium level is only slightly over 1400 grams, so that makes me very happy. Wouldn't hurt my feelings to eat like that every day but Bob can't handle beans on a regular basis, even though I added a little baking soda to them so they wouldn't be so gassy. Anyway, todays meal was enjoyed and there was enough left to freeze for other meals.

I'm glad to hear that your family is okay, even if their possessions suffered. That would be scary!

DD started college today. She had a long commute because of two separate accidents on the roads to school. DS has to walk to school, so he didn't have any traffic concerns.

I'm FB stalking Dutchie and praying for her.

I'm officially on vacation!!! No big plans so that means that I'll have time to sit on my butt and read. Maybe even take a nap! And, I'm hoping to gather some things for Dutchie to help her feel better - or at least more loved.

Talked with Dutchie on FB yesterday. She was home for the weekend but has those up's and down's that come from dealing with a chronic and persistent medical issue. As eloquent as I am there are times than all I can say is "I'll pray for you."

Sometimes all we can do is love and acknowledge that the other person has to go through what they are going through all alone so they can work things out. There is a line in an old Steve Miller band song that says "You have to go to hell before you gt to heaven."

LOL on your dog story Barb!

Well now we've lost two bathrooms... the one I use being one of them!!! :( The contractors are waiting on a kitchen cabinet so can't work in there.

Also they took off 3 bedroom doors and took them to be spray painted... I can see why remodeling can cause people to divorce their mate and/or get totally stressed out!

How is everyone doing today? I'm currently watching my boxer dog try to pick up her Frisbee AND still get outside in time to tell the neighbor dogs how smart she is. It's hilarious to watch her try to do both and not succeed at either.

My Sunday was pretty good. Work and laundry, gym, grocery shopping, made dinner for two nights, walk with DD and lunch packed for tomorrow. Must be time for bed!

Make it a good and healthy week.
