organic roasted salted pepitas... i love these. they are so good. my grocery store had the bulk stuff on sale this week $2 off any $5 purchase. i love the sale as a chance to try something new. i measure out 1/4 c to take to work. the salt and crunch are so yummy

bought a small chocolate bunny today. i ate it to quickly. i enjoyed the first bite. after that i was distracted and kept eating. i will keep working. and i will learn to have a real love affair with food not an obsessive one.

For those of you who are having trouble with shoveling or almost shoveling, you might want to try the MINDFUL EATING TEAM, it has a goal in there that actually encourages you to slow down and enjoy your food, and has other helpful hints. GL and hope to see you there.. It helps if you do them.

try snacking LINDAM. If you can perhaps a raw pepper or celery, the fiber is great, it reduces the actual value of the carbs, which in this case is about 8 calories or lower for each stick of celery, and its filling. And also a small amount of nut butter wouldn't raise you calorie intake that much or your fat consumption. Nut butters are excellent sources of GOOD fats for you.. Hope you get past that shoveling feeling, I have almost choked many a time, and now the light snacking helps. GL LINDAM

I eat to fast. i do catch myself doing it sometimes. i get distracted and start to practically shovel my food. i keep telling myself i am busy, but i think some of it that i am not a very organized person.

This is probably my biggest area of needed improvement. It just does not enter my mind to slow down and savor! Well, that is, until after I'm done eating and realize how quickly I wolfed my food down. I am going to focus and win this battle!

had some nutella. i slowly ate it and it was cramy. should try to make it a home made chocolate nut butter at some time. this way it would have less sugar and additives.

I am a fast eater as well, I beleive this has been the reason I mindless eat. Taking the mindful eating challenge just gave me that nudge to pay attention, and enjoy the food.

This morning I am eating granola, yogurt and raisin parfait. Putting my spoon down after each bite and really slowing it down. My biggest challenge this week is slowing down.

This morning it was a sliced apple and a small handful (20 oz) of raisins to which I was paying attention. I put just a little lime juice on the apple. I noticed a crisp bright crunch, sweetness on the tongue (the rasins were sugar sweet), the extra resistance of the apple skin, the interesting combinations of textures. Yummmm

I wanted to try this experiment, so I tried it with the leftover tuna casserole I had for lunch. Here's what I found:
a sort of chewy "give" to the teeth with the noodles, done a little more than "al dente" a somewhat salty/smooth blending of the tuna and cheese in the mouth peas popping and bursting as I chewed the slight crunch and wonderful unique "bite" of some added freshly ground pepper
As it happens, I am a fan of tuna casserole, and I enjoyed it even more eating it mindfully

i roasted a whole turkey for the first time. i had a few pieces as i was removing it from the bone. it was tender and juicy and i look forward to other healthy recipes that i can make with the rest of it.

I was mindful of what I was eating at breakfast, noticing the chewing and thoughts would arise as I chewed, the texture, the crunch, the cool milk and the taste of the cheerios:) which I enjoyed the taste of. My mind wandered as I ate breakfast.
This afternoon I had a small arrow bar(the halloween size). I put the whole piece in my mouth, I didn't want to chew it, noticed the size and when it began to soften and melt I noticed that, I thought I wanted the arrow bar to last for ever. It melted more and I swallowed and noticed how the chocolate left something unpleasant in my mouth. I realized that I didn't like something the chocolate left in my mouth.
Smile, nod, and back away slowly.
Keep it simple.

Smooth creamy ice cream and it's hard trying to eat slow when you so use to eating fast but I slow down.
I got want to do it and do this for me. My mind is in battle and my body is at war. I'm in battle with myself and if I can over come myself than I can over come it all and do it one day at a time, let it go and get one step closer to my goal.

did not savor my milky way today. it took me about 15 minutes to eat it, but i am trying to focus on slower bites, chewing and swallowing before taking another bite. that may sound dumb to people who already know how to eat to live (not live to eat), but i am very mindless of so many habits, i really need to be mindful of why and when i eat.

I know it may sound gross, but when i take to big of a bite of food, i started spitting it out onto my fork or spoon. then take a smaller bite of it. and try to actually chew, taste and enjoy what i am eating,
I have been aware lately that so many times i want or drink something because of a craving or a mental habit. but i took the last 2 work weeks to be more a aware of my food cravings.

I did not savor my foods today. I need to eat some vegetables tonight before bed and I am going to try to take one bite at a time and enjoy the vegetables. Maybe I will have an apple as well.
