April 20 - - - wisdom and prudence

Ephesians 1:8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;"

Where in: refers back to the grace mentioned in previous verse where it says “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;”

Grace is the “receiving of that which we do not deserve”. Because of our sin we deserve the wrath of God but God chose to give us forgives of sin through the blood of Jesus.

The entire first chapter of Ephesians shows us the grace of God through the Lord Jesus Christ. Over and over in the first chapter of Ephesians it tells us who we are and what we have received in Christ Jesus. God, in His grace, has provided everything that is needed, and more, to make His plan of salvation through Jesus work for the believer.

It goes on to say “Wherein he hath abounded” meaning to extend to the maximum. Not just a little bet of grace but the maximum amount of Grace.

Isn’t that just like God always doing everything to the maximum including His GRACE? - - - - - - In Christ Jesus.

Just a thought.

Note: My wife Anna and I will be married 59 years tomorrow April 21.

April 19 - - - “Through His blood”

Ephesians 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

It says “In whom we have redemption through His (Jesus) blood”. The payment for our redemption, our salvation was, made at the cross.

Hebrews 9:22 "Almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission". - - Without the shed blood of Jesus Christ there could be no forgiveness of sins!

We don’t talk much about the blood of Jesus anymore. When was the last time you heard a good sermon on the blood of Jesus? Some people get uncomfortable when we talk about blood in fact some denominations today have taken from their hymnbooks songs that speak of the "blood of Jesus". They believe that they are too primitive for today’s world and yet it was the very blood of Jesus that paid the price for our redemption.

The blood of Jesus was shed for the forgiveness of sins. The forgiveness of sin is the loosing of a person from that which not only separates a person from God but also binds him in captivity to that very sin.

How does the old hymn go?

What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

April 18 - - - In whom we have redemption

Ephesians 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

Redemption meaning deliverance from sin; salvation, atonement for guilt, repurchase, as of something sold. paying off, as of a mortgage, bond, or note. Repurchase, paying off, as in the story I use to tell the children in children church years ago - - many years ago.

Once upon a time – all children stories begin with this – A young boy and his father built a small boat together. This young boy loved this little boat dearly. Everywhere he went he took this boat with him. One day he took his little boat to the ocean and as he was playing the boat drifted away from him and was lost at sea. Some fisherman caught the little boat in their nets and brought it to a little store and sold it to the shopkeeper.

One day as the little boy was walking through town he saw the little boat in the shopkeeper’s window. He told the shopkeeper how he and his father had made the boat together and how it was lost at sea.

The shopkeeper told the little boy that if he wanted the little boat he would have to punches it. So the little boy went home and got the money needed to buy back the little boat that was once his.

THE LITTLE BOY REDEAMED HIS LITTLE BOAT.

Oh by the way the story ends by the little boy saying. The boat is mine now two times. Once because I made it and again because I redeemed it.

Jesus redeamed us with his blood. Romans 3:23 The wages of sin is death. Jesus paid this wage for us by His death on the cross.

Ephesians 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

Our redemption is also found in the Lord Jesus Christ

April 17 - - -Unto the adoption of children

Ephesians 1:5-65 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will 6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

Let us look at the word “adoption”. Paul gives us a picture of us being brought into the family of God by adoption. Being adopted by God means that we are accepted into His family and brings a multitude of blessings but also responsibilities. Being adopted by God also means that we receive new rights. Rights that we never had before.

Under Roman law, if you were an adopted son, you had the same legal rights as a son born of natural birth into the family. An adopted son had the right to the family name and rights to the father’s inheritance. So being adopted we stand before God with legal right to the Family name and with full rights to the family inheritance.

But an inheritance takes place only at the death of a person but be assured God is not dead. It was Jesus and His death on the cross that brought us into this adoption and also brought us into this inheritance.

Galatians 4:4-7 4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, 5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. 6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. 7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

Ephesians Verse 6 tells us why we have been adopted – It says we are adopted so we would be able to praise God for His glory and His grace. In other words, if we had never been adopted we would have never known God’s glory or God’s grace.

Oh by the way, YOU CAN NEVER BE UN-ADOPTED.

April 16 - - - God predestinated us unto the adoption

Ephesians 1:5
Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

God’s plan for our adoption was predestined or I could say predetermined before the world was created. God predestined that we be adopted and that our adoption would be made through His Son Jesus.

Let us begin by looking at this word predestined or predetermined. This does not mean that some ore predestined to be saved and others are predestined to be lost. What this does mean is that God predestined for all to be saved.

For God so loved THE WORLD, that he gave his only begotten Son - - - . God so loved ALL THE WORLD not just part of the world. God’s plan is for ALL TO BE SAVED.

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, NOT WILLING THAT ANY SHOULD PERISH, BUT THAT ALL SHOULD COME TO REPENTANCE.

So you see God predestined all to be saved or adopted. God provided everything that a person needs to be saved in Christ Jesus. If a person is not saved it is against what God planed or predestined. God’s plan of redemption is in Jesus and the cross and this is what predestined all to be saved but this must be received.

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

I love where it say that this is the good pleasure of God’s will. You know it makes me pretty happy also. ----- This also is done in Christ Jesus.

April 14 - - -God’s Love

Malachi 12 “I have loved you,” says the LORD. “But you ask, ‘How have you loved us?’

Many times when things happen in our loves that we don’t understand like a death or a sickness we fail to see Gods love. There are even times when we want to blame God and this is when we ask the question, “How have You love us?” What we most often fail to see is that the trauma did not come from God.

We know from the Word that death and sickness both come from sin, the sin of Adam in the garden. Romans 6:23 say’s “the wages of sin is death”. Had there been no sin there would have been no sickness or death.

So we say, “God how have you love us?” God has loved us by giving us life and then by giving us a new life in the love of the Lord Jesus Christ but not only did God give us life but He also provides for that life by giving us our daily needs.

So God loves us by giving but He also loves us by keeping.

April 13 - - -Holy and without blame.

Ephesians 1:4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

“That we should be holy and without blame”. Yes you and I have been chosen and yes you and I are holy and yes you and I are without blame. It is all hinges on “In Him and before Him in love”.

We stand before God in God’s love that is found in the Lord Jesus Christ. This being chosen and this holiness and this without blame all comes about in God’s love for us in Christ Jesus. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

“God so loved the world” that He gave His only begotten Son (Jesus) that He (Jesus) might take upon Himself the sin of the world (our sin) so that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but might stand before Him (God) chosen and holy and without blame in His (God’s) own love.

How’s that for love?

Just a thought.

April 12 - - -Who we are In Christ Jesus

Ephesians 1:4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

In Christ Jesus "I have been chosen" What does it mean to be chosen? The word chosen means to select from a number of possibilities; pick by preference: I love that “pick by preference”. I suppose we all recall when we were children and we played those games that children play, how excited we were when we were chosen. It tells us here that we were chosen by God before God even created the world.

Chosen and selected to be His. Now tell me if that doesn’t make you want to dance.

How can I a sinner be chosen and selected by such a Holy God? This is done by who we am in Christ Jesus. Everything we are is because Jesus is. When we look into the 1st chapter of the book of Ephesians we will see over and over that it says everything we are is because we are in Christ Jesus “Ephesians 1:4 According as He (God) has chosen us in Him (Christ Jesus) before the foundation of the world that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:”

So in Christ Jesus and in his death on the cross we have been chosen to be holy and without blame before God in love.

All I can say is WOW!

April 11 - - - Why

Matthew 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

Why did some people love Jesus and why do some people hate Jesus? Why do some people hate us because we are followers of Jesus? It’s all about Light and Darkness.

2 Corinthians 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

Some things just won’t mix. Water will not mix with oil and Light will not mix with darkness. We are called to be the light of the world in a world of darkness.

We need to understand that not only will light not mix with darkness but light has power over darkness. When you bring light into a room the darkness must leave. Darkness must and will always submit to light. We are called to be that light, the light of Jesus in the world of darkness of sin.

Let your light so shine before man, that Light that has the power to overcome the darkness of the world, the light of Jesus.

Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

April 10 - - - Respond with Love

Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

The world expects you to respond with getting-even and when you respond with Love it does not know what to do.

So they treat you badly and you treat them with kindness. They try to hurt you and you do kind things for them. They curse you and you pray for them. This is how a Christion is to respond to an enemy and if we respond to an enemy in this way it just might be that our enemy might stop being our enemy and then again maybe not. But if they change or if they don’t change our reaction to them is always the love of Jesus.

April 9 - - Knowing is not Receiving.

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

The last couple day we have been talking about how “the wages of sin is death” and how God has a free gift for us in the lord Jesus Christ Today I would like to talk about the most important word that is found in John 1:12. That word is “receive”.

What does the word receive mean. The word “receive” means to take it as my own to make it mine. So if I were to tell you that I was going to give you a five dollar bill. You could believe that I was going to do this. You could believe that it was a five dollar bill. You could believe that this five dollar bill has the power to purchase things that you might want but the five dollar bill is not yours till you take it out of my hands and put it into your hands. You must receive it, then and only then do you have the five dollar bill.

The same with Jesus and the free gift of eternal life. You can believe in Jesus. You can believe that Jesus died on the cross for your sin. You can believe that the free gift of eternal life is in Jesus but you do not have Jesus nor do you have the eternal life that is in Jesus until you receive it. You must take Jesus as yours. It is as simple as saying I want Jesus to come into my life. It’s giving your life to the Lord Jesus Christ. It’s a changing of direction. Walking after the world and the things of the world turning and now walking after God and the things of God. The bible calls this repentance.

You must take Jesus into your life and you do this by faith, by wanting and allowing Jesus into your life. When Jesus comes in eternal life also comes in.

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

April 8 - -Free gift of eternal life.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

We talked yesterday about how “the wages of sin was death” and I do believe we can all agree that we all have sinned. It may not even be a big sin but it does not say that it needed to be a big sin. It says the wages of sin is death that would be any size sin even just a little lie.

We also talked about how death here is separation from God for eternity. Now today I would like for us to look at the second part of the verse. “But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Now what is a gift? A gift is something that we receive that we do not labor for. If we labor for it, do something in order to receive it then it is no longer a gift but a wage. That means that if is free you cannot and do not do anything to earn it. Now if I told you that I would give you something, say a bible, if you attended church next Sunday that would not be a gift because you would need to do something before you could receive it. You would need to attend church next Sunday that would make it a wage.

God said he has a gift for you and that gift is in Christ Jesus. Receive Jesus and you receive the gift. Take Jesus and His teachings into your heart or I could say life and you receive the free gift from God of eternal life.

“but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”. That simply means that everything we need to receive eternal life has already been done for us in Jesus Christ and Jesus gives it to us as a free gift. The gift is in Jesus. Yes eternal life is in the person of Jesus and it is 100% free.

Eternal live is in Jesus. It’s as simple as this, RECEIVE JESUS AND YOU RECEIVE ETERNAL LIFE.

Now how good is that?

Just a thought

April 7 - - Why was it that the grave could not hold Jesus?

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

In Romans 6:23 it says “the wages of sin is death” that means that if you sin you will and must die. Now were speaking of a spiritual death, a separation from God for eternity. This was given to us from God and in all fairness God cannot change it. If God changed it one time God would be unjust to all the others that he condemned by death because of their sin. So it stand for all eternity that if you sin you must and will die.

Then along came Jesus who had not sinned. Jesus did not sin. Jesus did not sin even one time. Jesus lived a complete sinless life but Jesus was put to death. Jesus died who had not sinned. For the first time in all times a person, Jesus who had not sinned died. This upset the balance of heaven and this had to be made right. So God allowed the unjust death of Jesus to become our death. Jesus became our substitute death.

2 Corinthians 5:21 For he (God) hath made him (Jesus) to be sin for us, who knew no sin; - - - - Jesus became our substitute death.

This is why the grave could not hold Jesus and this is why the grave cannot hold us.

April 6 - - -Jesus lives

In Matthew 28:8 it tells us (New Living Translation) 8 The women ran quickly from the tomb. They were very much afraid but also filled with great joy, and they rushed to give the disciples the angel’s message.

Matthew captures the moment in a beautiful way...“And they departed quickly. They departed with fear and great joy running to bring his disciples the word that Jesus was alive.

The resurrection of the Jesus allows us to view death in a different way. Death is no longer the end of life it is the beginning. Death is no longer something that one must face with fear. Death is no longer the enemy to the followers of Jesus.

The devil thought he had won. He though he had killed Jesus by nailing Him to the cross. He had seen the limp, lifeless body of Jesus removed from the cross and laid in a tomb. He had seen the tomb secured, sealed, and guarded by Roman Soldiers.

Yet, to his "Surprise"! Death and the grave cannot hold the Son of God. Jesus had the authority to lay down his life but Jesus also had the authority to take it up again!

Today.........we worship and serve a Risen Savior. Jesus is alive.

As spoken by the words of this great hymn “HE LIV ES”

He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and talks with me along life's narrow way.
He lives, He lives, Salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives? He lives within my heart.

Let me say that one more time. You ask me how I know He lives? He lives within my heart.

April 5 - - - They came in tears and left rejoicing

Matthew 28:5-6 5And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. 6He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

They came expecting to find the body of Jesus but instead they found an empty tomb. They came in tears and left rejoicing in gladness. We also often come to Jesus in tears and leave in gladness rejoicing. Finding the tomb empty they departed rejoicing. What a great way to leave a cemetery? Amen?

I don’t recall ever leaving a cemetery excited. We leave most often in pain crying. Even, if it’s not someone we were close to....excitement is not an emotion we usually feel leaving a gravesite...yet these ladies were excited!

The source of their excitement was the empty tomb. They had been told that Jesus had risen. Mark records that they left quickly and fled...and that they trembled and were amazed!

The resurrection of the Lord allows us to view death in a different way. Death for the believer is no longer the end of life it is the beginning. The Passion of Christ and his death would have been without meaning if it had not been for the resurrection.

Friday is always followed by Sunday and Good Friday is always followed by Easter Sunday. The death of Jesus is always followed by His resurrection

Jesus paid for our sins on the cross but He won the victory over death by His resurrection.

Happy Resurrection Sunday

April 4 - - - They came expecting to find the body of Jesus

Mark 16:1-2 And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him. 2 And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun.

It tells us that “They arrived early”. These ladies didn’t arrive early in anticipation. They were not anxious to see the mangled body Jesus. After the crucifixion the body would not have been a very pleasant sight to see. Luke tells us that they had already seen the tomb where Jesus body was laid.

Luke 23:55-56 And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid. 56 And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment. They had returned home where they prepared the spices, and ointments to anoint the body of Jesus according to the Jewish custom.

It was the custom to prepare the body (after cleansing) with various types of aromatic spices. Then the body would then be clothed in grave vestments made out of white linen. Then the grave linens were sewn together by women. No knots were permitted. No individual could be buried in fewer than three separate garments.

Starting at the feet, they would wrap to the neck. A separate piece would be wrapped around the head. The myrrh used was a drug which adheres so closely to the body that the grave clothes could not easily be removed.

Even though Nicodemus and Joseph had anointed the body of Jesus before placing it in the tomb it was done in haste and was not satisfactory enough for these ladies. So early in the morning on the day after the Sabbath while it was still dark, they left their homes and went to the tomb of Jesus. When they arrived they expected to find the body of Jesus but the tomb was empty.

Just when you think thing can get no worse the hand of God reaches down and changes everything. They expected to find Jesus dead in the tomb but they found the tomb empty and Jesus much alive.

Matthew 28:5-6 5And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. 6He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

It was the worst of times that turned into the best of times. Jesus is alive and because of the cross and the blood of Jesus we too are very much alive in Jesus.

March 13 - - - Love your enemies

Matthew 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

”And ye shall be hated of all men” Yes The world will hate us because of our faith in Jesus but how are we to respond to this hatred?

Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

Jesus said, But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you

Not only are we to love our enemies but we are also told to bless them, do good to them and to pray for them. Now this is against everything that we are made of.

We live in a get-even-world but as Christians we are not allowed this privilege. We are called by God to be His people of love

Matthew 4:25 And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judaea, and from beyond Jordan.

There was a great multitude that followed Jesus But there was also a great multitude that plotted against Jesus.

Nothing much has changed. Today we have those who follow Jesus, seek after the teaching of Jesus, and seek after a relationship with Jesus, those who are in love with Jesus.

But we also have those that hate Jesus. They have no reason they just hate Him. They not only hate Jesus but they also hate those that follow Jesus

Matthew 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

So when people hate you because of your faith in Jesus just remember there hate is not really for you but for Jesus.

March 7 - - -Followers of Jesus

Matthew 4:23-25 23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.
24 And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.
25 And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judaea, and from beyond Jordan.

There were those that loved Jesus. It says that His fame went throughout Syria and there followed Him a great multitude of people from Galilee.

Why was Jesus fame spreading throughout Syria? Why did He have a great multitude of people following Him?

We find the answer in verse 24 And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.

Why do people today follow Jesus today? Why do we follow Jesus?

March 6 - - -Jesus in us

“He that has the Son has life; and he that has not the Son of God has not life” (1 John 5:12). “Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians1:17). “Christ lives in me” (Galatians. 2:20).

Eternal life is ours by indwelling in Jesus the Son of God. When we put our faith in Jesus, we enter into Jesus and into His righteousness and Justification.

The Holy Spirit brings us into Jesus but the Holy Spirit also brings Jesus into us. “I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you” (John 14:19-20).

Not only does Jesus say we are “in Him,” but He says, “I am in you.” Yes, we are “in Christ,” and Christ is in us the believer. Jesus Christ is resident in all who believe. “He that believes on the Son has everlasting life” because Jesus is our eternal life and Jesus who is eternal life is alive in us by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Now how good is that?

Pray for our Churches. If revival is going to come it will come through the believer. 2 Chronicles 714 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

March 5 - - -Clothed in the garment of salvation

Isaiah 61:10 I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.

God clothes us with the robes of Christ’s righteousness and justifies us forever. So when we stand before God now God no longer sees our sin but God now sees only the Righteousness of Jesus. God has clothed us with the garment of salvation and has covered us with the robe of the righteousness of Jesus. Completely covered with Jesus. When God looks at us he sees nothing but Jesus and His righteousness.

Jesus said to His disciples, “After a little while the world will no longer see Me, but you will see Me; because I live, you will live also. In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you” (John 14:19-20).

Jesus is the very righteousness of God. This righteousness of God is made unto us when we enter into Christ Jesus by faith believing.

I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you” (John 14:19-20).

“In Christ Jesus” We are because Jesus is.

March 4 - - - We also are justified.

Romans 3:22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

We receive the righteousness of Christ in Christ Jesus when we are joined to the Body of Christ in the new birth. This new standing with God is ours because of the righteousness of Jesus that has now been given to us.

Not only are we made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus but we also are justified.

Romans 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

When we are born into the Body of Christ we receive the righteousness of Christ that makes us right with God but we are also justified. The word justified means JUST AS IF WE HAD NEVER SINNED. So in Christ Jesus I now stand before God “JUST AS IF I HAD NEVER SINNED”.

It keeps getting better and better.

March 3 - - - The infinite righteousness of God

1 Cor. 12:1313 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

When the sinner comes to Christ, he is born again, and the Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit, immediately enters his body and bears witness that he is a child of God. The Holy Spirit becomes a resident within this person and will never depart. Every Christian at that moment is perfectly and eternally joined by the Holy Spirit to the Body of Christ.

Now because of this uniting we now have a new standing before God and that is “the infinite righteousness of God” in Christ. The word righteousness means being right with God. We have this righteousness because it was given to us by Christ Jesus.

Yes Jesus took our sins to the cross and that in itself is great but there is even more. Jesus took our sins to the cross but he also gave to us “His righteousness”. So the righteousness that we have is the righteousness of Jesus and it is this righteousness that makes us right with God.

2 Corinthians 5:21 - For He (God) has made Him (Jesus), who knew no sin, to be sin for us; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

March 2 - - -The Body of Christ

1 Cor. 12:1313 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

Before a person believed in Christ for salvation he or she is outside of Christ, and after he or she comes to believe in Christ he or she are then “in Christ”.

“For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.”

This is a beautiful picture of the Body of Christ. The Holy Spirit joins all believers together into one Body and that is the Body of Christ with Jesus Himself as the Head of this body. The Body of Christ is a Spiritual Body but it is also a Physical Body. Yes the Body of Christ is a Physical Body and we know this Physical Body of Christ as the church. Jesus is the head of His Spiritual body and Jesus is the head of His Physical body the Church.

In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you” (John 14:19-20). The oneness of the Body of Christ. The oneness of the Spiritual Body and the oneness of the Physical Body.

What do you think?

March 1 - - - Jesus said, You in Me, and I in You

Jesus said to His disciples, “After a little while the world will no longer see Me, but you will see Me; because I live, you will live also. In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you” (John 14:19-20).

Jesus was speaking of His death and resurrection. “After a little while the world will no longer see me, but you will see Me; because I live, you will live also.”

Jesus indwelling in the Father and our indwelling in Jesus assures us of our salvation. Our indwelling in Jesus means that when Jesus went to the cross we also went to the cross in Jesus. When Jesus died for our sin we also died for out sin in Jesus but when Jesus rose from the dead we also rose from the dead in Jesus.

The incentive to live a sinless life is no longer fear of condemnation. Romans 8:1 tells us “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus”. We strive now to live the sinless life, not from fear of condemnation but that we might please the Father in Christ Jesus.

Jesus paid it all,
All to Him I owe;
Sin had left a crimson stain,
He washed it white as snow.

See you in Church

February 28- - -Gods perfect plan
1 Peter 1:20 "He [Christ] was foreknown before the foundation of the world but was made manifest in the last times for the sake of you who through him are believers in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God."

"Before the foundation of the world". The Bible tells us that even before God created the world and people in the world. Even before the first sin was committed God had already planned to send his son Jesus to redeem us.

Everything had to be in place. Nothing was done by chance. God had everything planed from the Shepherds in the field, to the angles, the star that led the wise men. From the decree that moved Joseph and Mary from Nazareth to Bethlehem, even the inn keeper placing them in the stable. Every prophecy being fulfilled everything being in its place. After all this was planned right down to the smallest detail by God and it was all done before God created the world.

I don’t think we truly understand how awesome God truly is.

February 27- - -Two men went to Pray

Luke 18:10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a tax-gatherer. 11 The Pharisee, standing, prayed thus to himself: God, I thank thee that I am not as the rest of men, rapacious, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax-gatherer. 12 I fast twice in the week, I tithe everything I gain. 13 And the tax-gatherer, standing afar off, would not lift up even his eyes to heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, O God, have compassion on me, the sinner.

The prayer that God heard and the prayer that God did not hear. We see both prayers in the parable of the Pharisee and the publican (Luke 18:10-14).

Both men went to the same place, at the same time, for the same purpose, to pray. The Pharisee prayed in his religious pride. Not asking God for his needs but expecting God to answer because he thought himself worthy.

Look at what he had to say to God. I thank thee that I am not as the rest of men, rapacious, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax-gatherer. I fast twice in the week, I tithe everything I gain.

The Pharisee was telling God that he expected Him to answer his prayers because of who he was. God I'm not like other men. I am special. I treat everyone fare, I don't commit adultery, I fast twice a week and I tithe all my grain. Now God based on who I am I expect you to give we what I ask.

This is the prayer that did not and does not reach God.

Now let us look at the other prayer. The prayer that dose reach God.

The prayer of the publican. He came to God in great humility. The Pharisee tells God all the reasons God should answer his prayer the publican tells God all the reasons God should not answer his prayer. The publican tells God that he is a sinner and has no right to ask God for his need. The publican tells God that he is unworthy to even ask. Then the publican prays for the things that he has a real need for. He prays for forgiveness and mercy.

Jesus asked the question. Which of these prayers do you believe reached God?

Which prayer do you believe was heard by God and which of these prayer do you believe God answered?

February 26- - -The Prayer that God does not hear

Psalm 66:18 - ‘If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear’.

There are two kinds of prayers. The prayer that God hears and the prayer that God does not hear.

The prayer that God hears. The prayer that when we pray we have the assurance that God will answer. All prayers that are heard by God are answered but not all prayers are heard by God.

Some prayers are answered our way and some are answered Gods way, we also have the prayer that God answers by saying no. Then we have the prayer that God does not answer at all simply because He does not hear the prayer..

Psalm 66:18 - ‘If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear’.

This passage shown that God does not hear the prayers of those who regard iniquity in their hearts, those who remain in sin. So before we pray we need to pray. So before we pray we first need to pray asking God to forgive the sin and the iniquity in our heart.

What do you think?

February 25- - -Pray without ceasing

Genesis 4:26 - - - Then people began to call on the name of Jehovah.

I am sorry to say that when thing are going well most of us never thinks about praying. So it is in our time of need that we turn to God in prayer.

Even people who calm that they do not believe in God when they find themselves in a threatening situation will turn to prayer. How does the old saying go “You will never find an atheist in a foxhole”.

Prayer makes a statement. By praying you are saying that you acknowledge there is a God. So if you are a believer and pray or if you are not a believer and pray you are saying that you believe there is a God.

You are saying that you believe in a God who is higher and greater than yourself. A God who is able to change the situation. A God who is able to bring healing.

So when things look like there is no solution we turn to this Higher Being God to do what we seem to be unable to do.

February 24- - -The people called on the name of Jehovah

Genesis 4:26 And to Seth, to him also was born a son; and he called his name Enosh. Then people began to call on the name of Jehovah.

There are all kinds of prayers that we pray. Prayers of thanksgiving, Prayers of praise and Worship, Prayers of intercession and Prayers of request.

Prayers of request, praying for our daily need I Believe that the first prayer that was prayed was prayed out of there need mostly because most often when we call upon God it because of a need.

Prayer first came from man because of their needs. Prayer has not changed much Prayer still most often still comes from man because of their needs. In fact most often this is the only time that most Christians pray.

Nothing wrong with praying out of our need in fact Jesus teaches us to pray “give us this day our daily bread” Matthew 6:11. What we need to understand is that this should not be the only time that we pray. The bible tells us that we should be in constant prayer, 1 Thessalonians 5:17.

The bible tells us that we should be in consent prayer, 1 Thessalonians 5:17.

What do you think?

February 23- - -And The People Began To Pray

Prayer is as old as man himself. As long as man has been around there has been prayer. We see prayer first mentioned in the Old Testament as early as Genesis 4:26. That would be on about the third or fourth page of your Bible.

Genesis 4:26 And to Seth, to him also was born a son; and he called his name Enosh. Then people began to call on the name of Jehovah.

And to Seth, now after Cane slue Able, Eve had another son whose name was Seth.

It says that people began to call upon the name of Jehovah. The people began to pray.

Prayer plays a very important part in a person’s life. It did then and it still does now. 4000 years later and we are still calling upon the Name of the Lord.

Thank God for the privilege we have as Christians to be able to approach the throne of Grace in prayer.

I thought for the next few days we might talk a little about prayer.

What do you think?

Pray for our Churches. If revival is going to come it will come through the believer. Pray that the youth in our church will stand strong for Christ in their schools and with their friends. Ask God to help each young person to follow His plan for their lives, both now and in the years to come.

February 22- - -Jesus is the perfect friend.

John 15:14-15 No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. You are my friends if you do what I command you.

If we are to be a friend of Jesus, it tells us here that we need to walk in obedience to Him. You are my friends if you do what I command you.

What are the commands of Jesus? Love the lord my God with all thy hear, with all thy mind and with all they soul. The second is like unto the first that is to love thy neighbor as thy self.

Don’t you just love the old Hymn “What a friend we have in Jesus"?

Pray for our Churches. If revival is going to come it will come through the believer. Pray for the shut-ins in our church, as well as those who are widowed and living alone. Ask God to bless and encourage them, anointing their lives with power for ministry as well as help for the needs they face daily.

February 20 - - -A friend is able to forgive

Proverbs 17:9, “He who covers over an offense promotes love, but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends.”
The Good News Bible says it like this. “If you want people to like you, forgive them when they wrong you. Remembering wrongs can break up a friendship".

Jesus said, "Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven". (Mat 18:21-22)

A good friend will have a forgiving heart.

February 20 - - -Friends are always honest and trustworthy.

Proverbs 27:6, “Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses.”

A friend will tell you the truth even if it hurts, because he or she wants what is best for you.

I have a few friends who will tell me when they think I am wrong. That often is not easy to do. A friend like this is very valuable. When you don’t share your concerns for someone because of fear of offending them you aren’t being a true friend.

Not only is a friend required to tell us when we are in the wrong but we also need to be able to accept it.

“Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses.”

Wow, what do you think?

February 19 - - -In order to have a friend you need to be a friend

Prov. 18: 24 "A man that hath friends must show himself friendly"

What can I say when everything has already been said? In order to have a friend we must first be a friend. Friendships doesn't just happen, it require work.

You cannot go into your house and board up the windows and lock the door and expect to have friends. Friendship takes an effort on your part. There used to be and old saying “Do something nice for at least one person every day”. It just might be if we did something like this we just might have many friends.

What do you think?

February 18 - - -A friend is that person that is always there.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 Two are better off than one, because together they can work more effectively. If one of them falls down, the other can help him up. But if someone is alone and falls, it's just too bad, because there is no one to help him.

No matter who we are we all will need help at one time or another. A friend is that person that is always there when help is needed.

Often today if you ask for help the first thing they ask is how much are you paying. Years ago when a neighbor built a barn the whole community was there to help. They would begin in the morning and at dusk the barn would be finished.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 Two are better off than one, because together they can work more effectively. If one of them falls down, the other can help him up. But if someone is alone and falls, it's just too bad, because there is no one to help him.

February 17 - - -Not everyone we call friend is really a friend.

Proverbs 18:24, “A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”

I had a pastor once who said "don't tell just anyone your troubles. Only tell those that are able to help you. Too often what we shear in confidence turns into gossip.

So a friend is someone that we can trust with our most intimate secrets. Someone you can open your heart too and know it will be safe. In order to have a friend like this we need to be a friend like this.

February 16 - - -What does the Bible Say About Friendship.

Proverbs 18:24, “A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”

The term friend is used more the 100 times in the Bible. There are many examples in the Bible of friendships. David and Saul's son Jonathan is one of the best examples.

1 Samuel 18:1 -- When David had finished talking with Saul, Jonathan and David became bound together in close friendship. Jonathan loved David as much as he did his own life.

Johnathan was the son of King Saul and at Saul's death was next in line to be King. David took the thrown away from Johnathan or I should say that God gave the thrown to David. This would have been enough to make anyone angry but Johnathan stepped aside and remained a friend to David.

Proverbs 18:24, “A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”

February 15 - - - In the NAME OF JESUS

The name of Jesus means salvation. The Angel said to Mary, “You shalt call his name JESUS” which means "GOD SAVES" or "SALVATION".

Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Not only is salvation found in the name of Jesus the very name of Jesus means salvation.

See you in church

February 13 - - - Salvation is also found “IN THE NAME OF JESUS”

John 1:12 But as many as received him (Jesus), to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on HIS NAME:

Wow what a verse. I have the power to “become sons of God”. (The word sons also include daughters of God).

That means that I am accepted into the family of God. I have the rights of a child in that family. I have all the rights that are given to a son or a daughter. I have the right to use the family name. In fact the family name becomes part of my mane. Let me say that again - - - The family name becomes part of my name. I have the right to use the name of Jesus because it has become part of my name.

John 1:12 But as many as received him (Jesus), to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

WOW! - - - The power that is in “THE NAME OF JESUS”.

Pray for our Churches. If revival is going to come it will come through the believer. Pray that members of the congregation will convey a strong witness of the gospel to their community, through integrity, love, and godliness.

February 12 - - - All power is “IN THE NAME OF JESUS

There is over a hundred different names or titles for Jesus in the Bible but this still does not give us a total understanding of His name and how powerful the name of Jesus really is.

John 8:58 Jesus said, "Most assuredly, I tell you, before Abraham came into existence, I AM."

John 6:35 Jesus said - - -, "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.

John 8:12 Jesus said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life."

John 10:11 Jesus said, I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.

John 11:25 Jesus said - - -, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

John 14:6 Jesus said - - - , "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

And these are only a few of many verses in the Bible proclaiming the power that is “IN THE NAME OF JESUS”.

Just how much power is in the name of Jesus? All the power in Heaven and all the power in earth can be found in the name of Jesus

And Jesus gives us the right to use His name.

All I can say is - - WOW!

February 11 - - - Using the name of Jesus improperly

Exodus 20:7 "You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain."

A friend of mine once told me that one day when his son was very young he was startled when he heard his son use the name of Jesus improperly. He said, I suppose he heard someone doing this and so he thought he might try it. He told his son that whenever he heard him use the name of Jesus it had better be in a prayer.

The power that is in the name of Jesus works both ways. It can be spoken in a blessing but it can also be spoken in a curse. Also when we use the name of Jesus to achieve our selfish gain we are in danger of using the name of Jesus improperly.

It tells us in the Book of James ----- James 4:3 "You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on yourself (your selfish wants, desires and needs)."

The word Vain means to use for selfish purposes. Vanity comes from this same Greek word that is used for vain. Vanity is when we become consumed with one’s self.

February 10 - - - Pray in the Name of Jesus

John 16:23 “Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My Name He will give you."

How many times have we prayed using the words IN THE NAME OF JESUS? When we sit down to a meal we pray "In the name of Jesus". When we pray for our love one's we pray "In the name of Jesus" When difficulties come into our lives we pray "In the name of Jesus". Every time we pray we end the prayer by praying "In the name of Jesus" and rightly so but what does it mean when we “pray in the name of Jesus”?

When we pray the name of Jesus we are approaching the throne of God with the all the power and authority that is in Jesus. Jesus said, “whatever you ask the Father in My Name He will give you."

Jesus has given us the power that is in His name every time we use it. We can bless those around us by simply using this name but if were not careful we can also curse those around us simply by using this name.

Just speaking the name of Jesus has the power to change everything. There is power in the name of Jesus because there is power in Jesus the Son of God.

So when we pray “in the name of Jesus” we are not simply speaking words but we are speaking all the power that is in Jesus the Son of the Living God. ------ Now How Great Is That?

--------------------

Pray for our Churches. If revival is going to come it will come through the believer. Pray that our church services will be marked by displays of supernatural power be it in healings, spiritual gifts, and lives that are dramatically changed by Jesus Christ.

February 9 - - - Praying the roof off

Mark 2:1-4 1 And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house. 2 And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them. 3 And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four. 4 And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.

This is a story of five men and their faith in Jesus. Jesus had come into town and had been received with open arms, so much so that the house was full. There were five men, more than likely good friends one of them being sick with the palsy.

These men had heard that Jesus was in town and had also heard of the miracles of healing that Jesus had performed. So these four men decided that they would take their sick friend to Jesus. They placed him on a cot and carried him to the house were Jesus was.

Upon arriving they found a large crowd of people at the house so much so they could not enter. Now the Bible does not tell us how many ways they tried to enter the house. All it tells us is that they were unable to reach Jesus. They must have tried the front door then the back door. They must have tried the windows. Then they must have tried pushing their way in only to find that they were unable to penetrate the crowd.

When all else failed they lifted the man to the roof and tore the roofing off making a hole big enough to lower the man in. They were determined to get their friend to Jesus. They weren’t about to take no for an answer even if it was going to cost them the price of a new roof.

How persistent are we when we pray? The reason these four men were so persistent was because they know that if they reached Jesus their friend would be healed. If we had this much faith and if we truly believed that God is a God of healing I don’t believe we would stop praying until we received from God. I believe we would be like the four men that tried every way possible even to the point of tearing the roof off in order to get to Jesus.

How many roofs have we torn of lately - - praying?

February 8 - - - When the Storm comes your house will stand

Matthew 7:27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Then when the storm comes, and the storms will come, the Bible tells me that the house built on the sand will fall but the House built on the Rock will stand.

In the parable each house is built in preparation of a storm and we all know the storm will come. I heard it once said that we are either coming out of a storm, in the midst of a storm or going into a storm.

No better place to be in a storm then anchored to the rock, Jesus the Rock of Ages

The Storms will come.

See you in church

February 7 - - - Use good blueprints in BUILDING YOUR HOUSE

Matthew 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

Use a good set of blueprints. Know what kind of house you want to build and use the best blue prints that you can find. Follow the plans doing everything the way it should be done. You wouldn’t have much of a house if you only look at the blueprints once a week for one hour on Sunday. You need to search it out daily.

We also need to follow the plan that God has given us on how to build our life. The Bible is the Christians blueprints. How does the Bible say that I should handle this? How should I respond to this? When the storm comes how and what should I do?

You do know the storms will come.

February 5 - - -- - You may need help BUILDING YOUR HOUSE

Matthew 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

There may be times we will need help with the building of our house. You may need someone to give you advice or hold a board in place. There may be things in the building you don’t understand or just don’t know how to do. Then you may need to help others with the building of their house.

The Christian walk sometimes is not easy. Encourage one another and build each other up, just as it tells us in.--1 Thessalonians 5:11.

There will be times when we need others to help by praying. There will be times we need good Christian advice, someone to talk to about the storms in our lives. There will be times when we need others to just be there for us, to encourage us as we strive to live the Christian life.

February 4 - - Choosing the best material for BUILDING YOUR HOUSE

Matthew 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

Material

When we build our house we need to use good material, the best lumber and brick good flooring and carpet, the best cabinets in the kitchen, picking and choosing the very best, after all this is our house.

It’s the same with our lives. We need to choose only the very best like being part of a good Bible believing church, having a good prayer life and spending time in God’s Word, after all this is our house.

What do you think?

-------------

Pray for our Churches. If revival is going to come it will come through the believer. Pray that the youth in our church will stand strong for Christ in their schools and with their friends. Ask God to help each young person to follow His plan for their lives, both now and in the years to come.

February 3 - - The parable - - House built on the Rock

Matthew 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

When building a house the first thing you look at is location. A person will sometimes look a long time trying to pick the right place to build their house.

Jesus tells us of two builders and how each chose different locations for building. One chose a location you might say would at the beach. Now this sounds like a great place to build. Every day you play in the sand or walk along the beach but the beach is not a very good place to be when a storm comes in from the ocean.

Jesus tells us that the other builder built upon a rock. Rock is not a very easy place to build. To build on rock requires a lot of work. You would need to do some drilling or even blasting in order to set the foundation.

Jesus was speaking of our lives and what we build our lives upon. Some build on things that are temporal like money or their jobs, friends and a good time. These are the ones who are like the man that built on the sand. Then there are those that build their lives upon a rock. Jesus is the rock.

One thing they both have in common in this parable. They are both building in preparation for a storm and you can be sure the storm will come. I heard it once said that we are either coming out of a storm, in the midst of a storm or going into a storm.

-------------

Pray for our Churches. If revival is going to come it will come through the believer. Pray for the shut-ins in our church, as well as those who are widowed and living alone. Ask God to bless and encourage them, anointing their lives with power for ministry as well as help for the needs they face daily.

February 2 - - - God knows best

Isaiah 48:17 - This is what the LORD says— your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: "I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.

No one likes to be told what is best for them. I recall when I was growing up my mother use to tell me, “she would say now this is for your own good” and I know when she said this that I wouldn’t like what she was about to say. Even though I know I would not like what she was about to say I know that she had my best interest at heart. I could put my trust in her because I know she loved me.

God is telling us that He knows what is best for us. He tells us in this scripture “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you”. Isn’t it great that we can put our trust in God knowing that He will direct us in the way that is right. Isn’t it even greater knowing that God always has our best interest at heart.

February 1 - - - A hard working church

Rev 2:1-3 To the angel of the church in Ephesus say: These things says he who has the seven stars in his right hand, who is walking in the middle of the seven gold lights: 2 I have knowledge of your doings, and of your hard work and long waiting, and that you will not put up with evil men, and have put to the test those who say they are Apostles and are not, and have seen that they are false; 3 And you have the power of waiting, and have undergone trouble because of my name, without weariness.

Sounds like a good hard working Church doing all the right things but look at what Jesus has to say about this church.

Rev 2:4 But I have this against you, that you are turned away from your first love.

They had moved away from that first altar. That love affair that they once had with Jesus. They had become so engrossed in what they were doing, and what they were doing was good, but they forgot why they were doing it. They left their first love. They were in love with what they were doing and not in love with Jesus the one they were doing it for. Jesus is telling them that they need to go back to that first alter.

Do we need to go back to that first alter? Back to that time when we first ask Jesus into our live. Do we need to renew that commitment and that joy that was ours when we first met Jesus?

I'm not asking you to be saved again because I don't believe you need to. I am asking you to renew what took place that special day at that special time at that very special first alter.

Prayer
Lord I come before you now asking you to forgive me for drifting away from that closeness that I had at that first altar when I first asked you to come into my life. I want to renew that commitment. Lord I ask you again to fill my heart with your love and you’re forgiveness. I ask you to keep me forever close to you and that first altar.

See you in church

January 31 - - - Moving away from our first alter

Often as we travel throw life we often move away from that first alter, that altar of salvation. That altar where we first met with God. We can get so evolved in church and the things about church or just the thing in everyday living that sometime we find ourselves moving away from that first alter. I heard it once said if you have ever been closer to God then you are right now then you have back slidden.

I was watching a TV show the other night, it was Sanford and Son you know, the junk yard man. Lamont and Fred’s girl friend gave Fred a pool table for his birthday. Fred became so engrossed in the pool table that he neglected both his girlfriend and Lamont. He became so engrossed with the gift that he neglected the giver.

Can we become so engrossed with our Gift from God that we neglect God the giver?

January 30 - - - I Often go back to that first alter.

Now the church building is gone where I met with God at that first alter. The building has been torn down but the altar is still their because the altar is not the building but that time when I met with God and gave my life to Him.

I often go back to that first alter to that commitment I made to God. That commitment I made allowing God to come into my life.

Each time I take that trip back to that first alter I renew the joy that was mine then and is mine now. I go back not to be saved again but to renew the commitment that I made with God. That commitment of allowing Jesus to come into my life, giving Jesus Kingship in my life.

January 30 - - - Altar of salvation

I would like to tell you of the first altar I built. That was the day I asked Jesus to come into my life and to be my Lord and Savior.

I have always known about God as long as I can remember. I believed that if I was good that God loved me and if I was bad that God did not love me. I believed that if I lived a good life and asking God to forgive me when I sinned then I would go to heaven. I believed that if I was bad and sinned then I would be going to hell.

Based on what I believed I lived one day going to heaven and other days going to hell. So one day, looking at my life I came to a decision that I was going to hell more days than I was going to heaven. So I decided, why should I even try – it was obvious that I was going to hell. There was no way I was going to make it into heaven.

So I stopped, I stopped praying, I stopped going to church but I don't think I ever stopped believing in God. I just felt that I could never be good enough for God to love me.

Then one day a friend invited me to his church. We need to invite friends to church. I hate to think where I would be if my friend Larry had not invite me to his church.

That night at church I met God at that first altar. I had known about God but I had never really met God, big difference between knowing about God and knowing God. I knelt before God at my first altar and give myself to Him. I simply asked Jesus to come into my life.

I prayed this prayer. I prayed Lord I need to talk to you. Lord you know what I am and you know I’ve tried to be the person you would have me to be many times and each time I failed. So the only think I can do is to tell you that if you can do anything with me – if you can change me then I give you permission to do so. Lord I give myself to you.

And what do you think happened? Jesus did. Jesus came into my life that night and He did change me. I became that new person. That night Jesus wrote my name in the Lambs Book of Life.

I met Jesus at that first altar at that altar of salvation.

------------

Pray for our Churches. If revival is going to come it will come through the believer. Pray that marriages and family relationships throughout the congregation will be strengthened.

January 28 - - - The altar of God

Psalm 43:4 Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy: yea, upon the harp will I praise thee, O God my God.

We don't use the term altar much anymore. We don't talk about the altar in the church. We don't talk about the altar in the home. We talk about everything today except the altar.

An altar is that place where you meet with God. It could be a bench in back of the building. It could be a chair in your room. It could be a place at the foot of your bed.

Everyone needs an altar in their life. That place where you meet with God. That place where you can be away from the world and alone with God. In the Gospel of Matthew the altar is called a prayer closet.

Matthew 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly

The good news bible says it like this. “But when you pray, go to your room, close the door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen. And your Father, who sees what you do in private, will reward you”.

I love that - - - Go to your room, close the door, and spend time with God.

------------

Pray for our Churches. If revival is going to come it will come through the believer. 2 Chronicles 714 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

January 27 - - Put your trust in the Lord

Proverbs 3:5-6 5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

I once saw a picture of a street sigh showing two directions. One direction was marked MY WAY and the other direction was marked GODS WAY. We often come to this place in our lives. A place when we must choose which direction we are going to go.

Proverbs 14:12 There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death. Trusting on your own understanding is not always the best way to go. The Word of God tells us that we are to 5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; - - - -. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

We are faith people and we don’t base our life on “our own understanding”. We place our trust in the Lord and acknowledge Him as God who will show us and direct us on the right path.

Don’t you just love the Word of God?

January 26 - - Jesus said “I am come that you might life”

John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

“The thief cometh not, but to steal”. How does the devil go about doing this? He does this by destroying the moment we are living now.

The only moment that is alive is the moment that we are living now. The moment that we just lived is gone and the moment we are about to live has not yet been birthed so the only moment that is alive is the now moment and it is the only moment that counts.

So how does the devil steal the moment we are living now? He does it by worry or guilt. Worry is being anxious about what might happen tomorrow. So we destroy the now moment by worrying about something that most likely will not even happen.

The other way the devil steals the now moment is guilt. Looking back and seeing things in the past that we have done wrong or have wronged another person. We can do nothing about yesterday. Yesterday is gone and we need to put it away. Ask God to forgive you and then forgive yourself.

The only moment that is alive in the now moment. Don’t let the devil have it. Turn your eyes upon Jesus and take that abundant life that Jesus is offering you. Jesus said “I am come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly”.

January 25 - - A Spiritual Mind is a Happy Mind

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Happiness comes from having our mind filled with the right thoughts. If we fill our minds with gloom despair and agony on me then you will have gloom despair and agony on me.

If we are always looking at what we don't have then we will never have what we should have.

Paul tells us in Philippians 4:8 Think on those things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely and of good report. If there be any virtue, praise, think on these things.

In other words “you are what you think”

January 24 - - Happiness is

Psalm 40:16 Let those that seek (God) rejoice and be glad.

When I turn on the T V I am told that if we buy this make of car I will be happy. If I eat this certain hamburger I will be happy. If I wash my hair with this shampoo I will be happy. Will I have new for you this has nothing to do with being happy this has to do with selling merchandise.

Happiness Comes From Inner Contentment. Abraham Lincoln said, "People are about as happy as they make up their minds they want to be" Someone else once said, "No man is happy who does not want to be" It's not the place or the condition, but it is the mind alone that make a person happy or unhappy.

The Bible tell us that happiness can be found in our relationship with Jesus. That when we enter into that perfect relationship with Jesus we will have that inner peace that brings about happiness.

“Let those that seek (God) rejoice and be glad”.

January 23 - - As for as the east is from the west

Psalm 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

Yesterday we spoke of God remembering our sins no more. Today I would like to look at the fact that God separates us from our confessed sins as for as the east is from the west.

At the time that this was written only God know that the world was round or I should say a globe. So no one had the knowledge to know that the east would never meet the west. You can travel east forever and never meet the west. Not so with the north and the south. If you were to travel north when you reach the North Pole you are no longer be traveling north now you are traveling south or I could say north has meet the south.

How did the author of this Psalm know this if it had not been given to him by the Holy Spirit?

God did not say that He separates us from our confessed sin as for as the north is from the south He said as for as the east is from the west.

How awesome is this?

January 22 - - God does and does not remember!

Genesis 8:1 - - "But God remembered Noah and all the animals in the boat."

I like this "But God remembered" but there are times when God does not remember. It tells me that God does not remember our sin once we have asked forgiveness. It tells me in Hebrews 8:12 12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

God will never bring your confessed sin to remembrance. If I were to ask God about a sin of yesterday He would tell me that He does not knew what I am talking about. God does this because He chooses too.

But here in this scripture God choose to remember. Noah did as God had commanded and God chose to remember Noah’s obedience.

What has God chosen to remember about us?
