I've had a Gymboss (lost it during the Turkey Trot last year - :( major sadness ... ) however, there are multiple interval timer apps for Android phones as well, if you carry your phone. My husband uses one of the apps, and it runs behind his music with no problems. Incidently, he also runs Trimble Outdoors to track his workout (GPS), and all of these run concurrently with no issues.

I have MotionTraxx for Jeff Galloway downloaded to my Ipod. The drawback is that it's techno music, which I'm not wild about, but it gets the job done. I have a Gymboss as well and usually set that to vibrate while I listen to my music on my Ipod.

I use a gymboss and don't normally listen to music (just my particular preference.) but I have on occasion listened to my mp3 player during a run, and I can still hear the beep from the gymboss even when I have earbuds in my ears. You can also set the gymboss to vibrate in addition to or instead of beeping. That way you are free to listen to whatever music you want to.

I have an non Ipod Mp3 player. I use a gymboss that is totally outside the loop. It's a timer that allows you to set you walk run intervals. It is very easy to use. I have particularly appreciated the ease you can change ratios in the middle of a run.
