Mizzdetermined's answers:

Since beginning your journey have you had many setbacks that got you off track?? And if so how did you manage to get it together again??

I had quite a few setbacks in the last 2 years: getting diagnosed as having a low thyroid and insulin resistant; unable to walk and in lot of pain for 2 months 2 years in row; suffering from SAD (seasonal affective depression) and having a more pronounced depression this year needing medication.

I manage to get it together again by never giving up and believing in myself. I look for answers and solutions to help me get over what's happening. I'm a natural optimist so I always look for the bright side and know that every cloud has a silver lining!

Graceomalley: would love to have a fellow traveler along on my dream vacation! The more the merrier!

If money and time and all else were not an issue, what is your dream vacation?

The power to change, the courage to do, the will and drive to be exceptional lies within me, and by leaving my fears, my doubts, and my excuses behind, I embrace all that lies within me.

Hi guys, thanks (I think!) for your questions. So here are my answers:

TX.Patricia:

How did you find SparkPeople? by Googling for a diet website.

How did you choose your SparkPeople ID? by adding the day number of my birth date, 20, (20th of September) to my first name, Brigitte.

What are your weight loss goals? I weighted 120 lb until my early forties when weight started creeping up slowly. I found out it was caused by Ashimoto disease which was causing a low thyroid condition and weight gain was one of the symptoms. So my 2 main goals are to control my thyroid to stop gaining weight and losing the 50 extra pounds left over since it's all started.

What was your breaking moment, that made you say, you have to loose weight or else? When I had to buy my clothing in extra large size instead of the petite department. I'm now back to medium size clothing (size 12).

Bob:

My question is what is one of the highest moments or victories with losing weight, and with that what was your deepest valley you went through and how did you recover or beat that to get back on track?

One of my highest moment with losing weight when I bought a pair of jean size 8 (I could also fit in a size 6 but it was really tight) last October after losing 25 lbs.

My deepest valley was last December when I was diagnosed with depression ( during that month my father-in-law died of cancer, one of my 2 sisters decided to stop communicating with my mother and other sister as well as myself and 1 daughter living through a depression as well left home). To recover I had to take antidepressants and unfortunately gained 10 lbs following that diagnosis. I'm still in therapy which is helping me a lot and am gradually weaning myself off my antidepressants. I'm back tracking food on SP and exercising regularly. I'm paying attention to eating healthy food and smaller portions as well as relaxing more with yoga, music and reading.

Tbid227:

Who is your biggest inspiration? I don't have a specific inspiration but find inspiration in all the people I meet or read about daily! On a personal note I admire my 36 years old insulin dependent diabetic daughter who has been diabetic for 34 years and is taking such great care of herself and never complains about it. Another favorite is my 80 something widowed neighbor who is still living unassisted in her home, she beat breast cancer 30 years ago and colon cancer 2 years ago and suffers from Parkinson's disease. She never complains and always has something uplifting to share with other people to help them feeling better about themselves. I hope to get older as gracefully as she does.

Wishing you all an healthy and happy weight loss journey! emoticon

Brigitte,

Wonderful story you have on your page.

My question is what is one of the highest moments or victories with losing weight, and with that what was your deepest valley you went through and how did you recover or beat that to get back on track?

Thank you,
Bob
