I don't know about scenic... maybe there is another Buffalo River? The one I paddled on is in Buffalo NY. and passes through abandoned grain silos and nature preserves. It is flatwater. If you want excitement you need to go on the Niagara River. If you want to see pictures check out 4a-healthy-bmi's most recent blog.

Is the. Buffalo RIver a flat water river or a whitewater river? I have heard it's incredibly scenic. Would love to hear more about your trip

Hi!
I just found this group! I am an avid kayaker, I'm in Southern Maryland, so no problems with water levels... the tides are more of an issue here. got out sunday for a 4 hr paddle.

Went for a moonlight paddle with a big group last night. I prefer small groups, but the discipline of going slowly is probably good for me.

We have had a lot of rain this Spring. No, not good for gardening, but great for getting into swamp channels in the kayak. Water levels are starting to drop though, so maybe things will get back to normal.

Went for a 26 mile trip on the Conewango yesterday. Rapids weren't quite Class II, but they were more than Class I. Went home and walked the dog then decided to go out on a group paddle on Lake Erie. Water was thrashing pretty good. 2 foot swells and minimal white caps. We only paddled a little over 4 miles, but that still brought total miles in the boat to over 30 for the day.

How's the water level where you are~? We've had SO much RAIN! The lakes, reservoirs and rivers are at levels that (sans hurricanes) I haven't seen before. Kinda cool to kayak in....not working out for gardening!

my older son and i got out on one of our favorite lakes this past week. because of all the rain, the levels were HIGH, and when we went to the stream, it was the most raging i've ever experienced it---a lot of fun emoticon

i have to learn to start bringing a camera in the dry-bag emoticon

I have been out quite a few times. Yesterday I volunteered as one of the safety boats for a triathlon. It was fun. I would do it again.

I went kayaking on Bear Lake in Utah about 3 weeks ago and it was awesome. We saw all sorts of wildlife. Had white pelicans on the lake and Canada geese with their babies too cute. I want to go back again. I need to go to Stansbury lake next sunday..and take skippy too. :)

Got in 22 miles on the Conewango yesterday. Running high, so the rapids were only class 1.

We actually went mountain biking this weekend, but I found a new place to kayak while up there - WooHoo! Went kayaking last week with my son and I'm planning on going back out this Thursday with my son's girlfriend if the weather is nice.
