The secret is not "owning" a sailboat, but finding someone else who does and then volunteering to help them sail it. That's how I got started. I've been on this team now for 13 years. I find it really helps with my stress.
I know we are all kayakers, but is anyone else here also a sailor? I live on the coast of Maine and I crew on a sailing team. It actually is a workout when you are racing. I have a race tonight and I'm going to the gym this morning. Wondering how my arms will be tonight. By the way, hit my first target of getting under 200 lbs! That's my first 11, 50 to go.
