I went to Whistler on Sunday skiing WOW I have never seen so much snow; absolutely lovely. I would love to try Red Mountain; let me know how it goes.
My husband stopped in on his way home from a 1/2 day on grouse (the "dog"). So jealous; beautiful and sunny here today.

Welcome, JDWEBB! I hope you have a great time at Red Mountain. I don't understand Red Mountain to be much of a destination ski hill, but have heard that it's pretty good. Please let us know what you think of it.
I skied Big Sky, MT this weekend. They got a bit of snow while we were there, but they've been a bit thin this year (not like back East though). I managed to crack and compress an edge and took a pretty good base shot to the other ski. Bummer, but it had to be done. :-)
I hope this finds your ski season going well. Take care and happy trails!

We went to Sunshine this weekend, it was great... there was powder for the powder lovers but at this stage in my snowboarding I catch edges in the stuff. There was plenty of groomed runs as well. Alberta is also have a great snow year.

I live in New Brunswick and my husband and I are heading out to BC next week. We are trying Red Mountain and going to do cat skiing for the first time. Has anyone skied there before? I hear you are getting lots of snow.

Thrilled to report that the new skiis were better than anything I could have expected Sunday. Beautiful day again in BC, getting new snow in the mountains. I love the rain it means it's snowing on the hills!

Just got back from a few hours of skiing!
Hit Attitash in Bartlett, NH. Conditions were great thanks to yesterday's snow and they've had the snow guns going like crazy. I'm still a beginner but managed to get down some intermediate trails without breaking my neck.
Great day overall! Topped it off with a couple of Michelob Ultras and a little cheeseburger

Sorry to hear you're not getting the snow.
We've had our best season locally (which means Vancouver area) here in the BC lowermainland, ie West Coast Canada. Went to our local mountain Grouse for hard pack but beautiful sun and 362cm base (yipee!). Just go new skiis and will be trying my new skiis Sunday. Going from 170 down to 150 full shape ski. Should be very interesting.

Well we are getting snow all the time here in Denver but unfortunately this weekend it is going to hit on Fri/Sat so I wont be able to head up to the mountains. I miss my skies!!!!!

Yes, our mountain is pretty much a hill here too. :)
Just checked out our hill's website and they opened back up 3 more trails. Definitely a step in the right direction. Might be skiing this weekend after all! WOO-HOO!!! :)
Never mind . . . just checked the weather they are calling for rain and a high of near 50 . . . BOOOOOO!!!!

I hit my local mountain today in NH. Actually this particular mountain is more like a hill, but they do a great job with snowmaking so it was better than nothing. Just felt great to be out there!

It's finally getting colder here again in Western PA, but it looks like it supposed to warm up again with some rain . . . *sigh* we just can't seem to get a break here!
How are the other East Coast slopes fairing so far?

I'm so excited!!!! I'm heading to Keystone for a day of skiing on Saturday. I felt like I got totally jipped since I was in MA during the two major storms out here. I can't wait to see what the conditions are like!

The snow conditions here in New England are pretty lousy so far. My brother is an instructor and he's really unhappy with the lack of snow in Vt.
My 1st trip will be Jan 5-7 to Sugarloaf - so I'm hoping we get a blizzard in the next week or so.

Well at least you have something close. I recently spent 2 years in Florida getting my masters degree. The only times I got to go skiing were when I went to CO to visit my fiance at christmas and spring break. And, of course, these were during the busiest times of the ski season so it wasn't nearly as good.
Now I am going as much as I possibly can just to make up for it!

Perfect North is just outside of Cinncinati. It is a small place with man made snow. Not the greatest but it is one of the closest places I can go.

I went to Keystone today. Now my legs really are tired. there wasn't any new snow, but I had fun speeding down the groomed runs with my friends! I just got new equipment, and I feel so much more confident on the hard packed snow. I have a lot more fun on it now.

Just got back from skiing at Vail today! They finally opened up their Blue Sky bowl, which was the last to open. It was pretty nice, the snow was soft in Blue Sky, but very tracked out in all the other bowls. Groomers were good too, good sunny weather! My legs hurt.

I finally got my first ski weekend in this weekend at Grand Targhee, WY (other side of Tetons from Jackson Hole). The snow was good, but sparse. I found some rocks and some good spots too. Hopefully I'll post some links to some pics from the trip soon.
Ride on! :-D

Alberta snow clouds are giving up the goods. I have had to great days at Sunshine in Banff. And many of my friends are talking about an epic season this year at Lake Louise. I wont upset anybody and mention how great Whistler is doing...sigh

St. Mary's Glacier is at the top of the Fall River Road exit (the next exit of I-70 after Idaho Springs). Just follow the signs for St. Mary's/Alice. There is a place to park and you hike about 1 mile up an old rock-strewn road to get to the lake basin that the glacier feeds into. It is really beautiful! There is also a back way to get in if you have a good 4-wheel drive vehicle. If you go, definately leave enough time to hike up to the top. It is above timberline and during the spring (June-ish) there are some beautiful flowers. There are also crazy twisted trees near the timberline and views in all directions. You can slip and slide the whole way back on the glacier (with your sled, skis, or just on your feet)! Just be careful near the bottom where it gets steaper- I once slid the remainder on my butt(not on purpose!)and ended up with some monster bruises when I landed in the rocks near the bottom. I didn't sit comfortably for about a week!

We did Keystone on Thanksgiving, Breckenridge on Friday, Vail on Saturday and then back to Keystone for Sunday. It was a ton of fun but since many of the trails still aren't open the lines were a little crazy (especially on Friday at Breck). I'm so glad ski season is back!!!!!
How can I find out more about St. Mary's Glacier? That sounds like a lot of fun! My fiance and I are still new to the Colorado area!

Went to Breckenridge yesterday, 3rd time out this season so far (2x at Breck, 1X at Keystone). My fiance and I thought we would go out yesterday because we figured there would be less crowds on Thanksgiving. Well, it was a little less crowded...
That Snowdome thing sounds fun, it is nice to have something like that nearby. We don't have one, but we have Glaciers and Snow fields that you can ski year round if you have the skills. For instance, there is one near Denver (St. Mary's Glacier) that we like to go to on the 4th of July for sledding, snowballs, skiing, barbecueing, etc. We like to enjoy that little taste of winter in the middle of the hot July days :)

That is very cool. I'm going to have to do some searching to see if there are any here in the USA that are close enough to try out this coming summer!

yup - all year round skiing, there are about 4 in the UK, the nearest one to me is only an hour away. It gets a monotonous after a while (short slope), but great for getting the legs back before a ski vacation!
They have one in dubai which looks good: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/in_pictures/4491210.stm. The ones over here are similar, but on a smaller scale!

My wife is off to a snowdome tonight - so she has beat me to the slopes over here! Anyone else ever done any indoor skiing?
They are good for missing out the 'can i remember how to do this' moments when you only get to a proper ski resort once or twice a year!
Ah well only 4 months till I get some real skiing in.

If you all try boarding don't give up on the first day. For most people it takes a bit longer than skiing to pick up. It took my friend and me a good 3 trips to get off of the Family Trail!!

If you find any good lesson packages can you let me know? I wanted to start boarding last year but never got around to it and am hoping to start this year as well. I snow blade so I don't see a huge transition into boarding... so excited!

My family is hoping to head up not this weekend, but next weekend. We are going to learn to snowboard, I'm so excited! Not sure where yet, probably Keystone, but maybe Breck. I just received a package deal in the mail from breckenridgediscountlodging.com for a ski and stay deal. Need to do some research fist though.
No I haven't and I can't wait to!!! You are soo lucky to be able to go so soon. It is going to be at least mid December before I am going to see snow. Tear...
