I definitely need to work on my abs/core. The lower abs are sooo tough to target.
Our first trip is on Nov. 19 so that's right around the corner and I don't feel prepared!
Oh well... I don't have to be 100% right out of the gate. Perhaps I'll only do a couple runs and then enjoy the apres ski! emoticon

Our ski season doesn't begin until January so I have some time, but doing lots of squats, elliptical and ab work! I'm so jealous of you that live in Colorado! emoticon

I am following the 200 situps program (http://www.twohundredsitups.com/) to try and increase my core strength. After some crazy mogul runs, my abs are screaming at me! I need more than a few runs in a row though to get better so I'm prepping my abs better this year :) Soon I'll start working in the other programs - first 200 squats, then 100 pushups. I can't wait for a full day of skiing...the cardio is awesome!!

I can't wait to test my "new" body on the slopes this season. As a part of my Fall Challenge here on SP, I've been pushing on my lower body ST.

I just started doing side step-ups for leg work/balance. I have a step with just two risers on each side and I "straddle" the step. Then I put one foot on the step and with the other foot go from one side of the step to the other for 12 reps. Then I switch legs. I can only do two sets before my legs are screaming at me. I love it. emoticon
BTW - The mountains in CO above 8000 ft. got snow last week. Yay! I'm getting excited....

Nothing crazy. I don't actually know the technical terms. I do the "superman" and the back extensions that you mentioned (but that's more for my rear end).

I've have lower back pain in the past. I have heard that stretching hamstrings is important to prevent lower back injury. I've included back extensions in my strength training plan. What exercises do you do for your lower back?

While leg workouts are certainly important, I like to work on my lower back and abs. I have lower back problems and it seems like I need that to be especially strong so that I don't get injured.
Anyone else do this?

I just started a strength training plan. It's more general, but it includes leg exercises. Early ski season is a little over a month away here, depending on snow.

I'm increasing my squats and lunges so I'm working on legs about 3x/week. I'm also doing "bowler squats" which is like doing a deep curtsy or the stance when you let go of the ball when you are bowling. I find it's been working on my inner thighs a little more - wowzers... those make me sore!

Thanks Tessa. I have found the retailer for my country eventually, and sent them a mail to know the price.

Not really ready yet... I'm still in the recovery process after breaking my malleolus bone last June (yep, in June--I've never broken a leg or an arm during the winter season.)

Working on quads-squats, lunge and Strength Training can sure help as well as cardio.

What is exactly the "skier's edge machine." I don't think I have ever seen one. On my way to google it.

Right now I am resuming my Nordic Walking workout.

Yes...
I'm trying to increase the distance I run to improve my stamina.
Working on my quads-squats, lunges, weights.
Will start using our skiers edge machine.
