I agree Kristine, I have not tried the ones you got (as I needed a ski without the binding system) but I have heard alot of good things about them. =]

ohh sarah what sort of mid-fats did you get?? who cares about whether they were last seasons skis, news skis are great, Alot of times the only think that changes is the coversheet. I actually would have picked the previous seasons ski for quite a few skis as I do not like the new cover sheet.

Hee hee hee....

Last year's model on clearance doesn't bother me at all.

I was at a BBQ for my husband's office yesterday afternoon, and I was talking to the staffer who is the total ski geek. We were talking about skis, and I told him what I had gotten. He told me it was an "awesome" choice. ;-)

I ordered new mid-fat skis this past season and when they arrived I hauled them into my living room...

moved all the furiture out of the way and gingerly cut open the box.

While I sat there gazing at them I slowly ran one finger down the length before getting set up to mount my bindings.

I didn't cry, but I did sit there feeling really overwhelmed and full at the prospect of new toys and am so glad to know that I'm not the only one who appreciates what it is to be rewarded with something great... even if they were last year's model on clearance.

For me they were the best skis ever and I felt like they were about a millions dollars worth of amazing.

I cannot WAIT until you can get out there to ride them!

Boots are key! I love my boots- I have ankles that are too big for my foot size so I went to a special store to get them. They heated the boots and then formed them to my feet. That makes a big difference. I can ski a lot longer now. Have you created a countdown paper chain? You can make a loop for every day till ski season and then take one off each day. Perhaps the kids would enjoy the fun?

That is awesome =] I am glad you are really happy with them =] The right boots will make a big diffrence, they are after all what look after your rudders (feet) and you can't use your rudders right if you can't feel them or if they are not firmly attached to your skis =]

New skis will be great though to as they have alot more spring then used skis generally.

I never reported back... I picked up the skis (and boots), and they are beautiful. I don't think I have ever held brand new skis... I cried. And I feel a bit like a dork saying this, but I don't think I've ever even tried on such nice boots, either (and they aren't top of the line at all, they're just not rental boots or beat-up used boots). Fit on the boots seems good, but I wasn't wearing my ski socks, and I think feet this time of year aren't the same as winter feet (feet are smaller in colder weather).

I guess I am seeing the skis and boots as my diss reward/motivator. I am *so* looking forward to next ski season (regardless of the skis). I feel like I'm more fit than I was at the end of the ski season (just 5 weeks ago), and I'm looking forward to really tearing up the slopes next winter.

Rachel, my kids should be toy testers. Because really, they *NEVER* play with things the way they are "intended." It *is* pretty interesting to watch...

They're thinking out of the box! Is there ever a 'right way' to play?

They do, but they always misuse it (they're not interested at all in running and sliding... they'd rather lay on it, or use buckets to collect the water...).

Do your kids have a 'slip and slide'? I'm thinking virtual skiing!

ahhh that maybe so, but new skis should always get a try out in the living room as soon as they get home (if they can not hit snow first) unwrap em, slip on your boots and click in, always important =]

Sure you might not be able to actually ski, but you can try out your bindings and see how you look, do a bit of a side to side lean ;p

I know I am a bit sad . . but hey at least it is fun ;p

.... and I could go and pick them up today, but I have 2 sick kids. (But it's not like I'd be able to use them today, anyway.)

I think the K2 luv series is awesome. Built for women and they go fast! My daughter has twin tipped K2s. She's a maniac. I settled for Salomon Topaz- since I ski like a grandma.

Love your new photo.

Sweet! burning luvs are supposed to be really nice skis. I expect to see lots of pics of you next season going at mach 10 emoticon But seriously though, nice choice =]

I was looking at tough luvs when I bought my celebrities, but could not get them as they have the fancy binding system and I needed nudes (no binding system ;p) for my baron bindings (for alpine touring). I also like a soft flex

It's the K2 Burnin Luv. (Totally dorky name, but oh well.)

I've never had new skis before in my life. It's really kind of a :-O moment for me.

Oh, and I did I mention that I renewed our season passes and got a new pass for my daughter who just turned 3? I'm going to be teaching her to ski next winter. That should be entertaining. :-) Her scowl in her photo on her pass is priceless.

I can't believe I'm doing this, but...

I'm ordering skis (and boots) online today.

I demo'ed some awesome skis earlier this season, and I LOVED them (and when I went in to demo, I asked for something very specific to fit the bill of what I like to ski, my skill level, etc, and they *really* grooved). I've been watching their price ever since...

Earlier this week, I found them at REI online for about 60% off full price. I feel like I almost can't *not* get them for that. I also know that I can sit on them till November and return them at any time if I reconsider (or find a better deal elsewhere, but I think that's unlikely).

This is my big reward for all the work I've done.... I'm not good at rewarding myself, so this feels kind of funny.
