Yesterday wasn't my best day of the season (I'd say my days at Winter Park and the day I demo'ed the fab skis were my best days), but I'm proud of it. I was in a big funk, so dh sent me up alone. My legs were pretty sore from my run the previous evening. At first, I thought I'd just take it easy, work on my form on the groomers, but after a couple of hours, I hit the bumps, too.
It was pretty empty yesterday... small ski area, end of season, weekday... when I was doing my favorite run (very steep bump run), I was half excited/half freaked out that I was the only person on the run the entire time each time I did it. (So I didn't even think about the trees... legs not great, preoccupied... they'd find my body around July.) ;-)

I have a couple of standouts this season. One over my Christmas break in a foot of powder dropping lines like Ouzo Glade at Vail. Second was the first week of March when I finally dropped Lover's Leap at Vail. Snow conditions weren't great but breaking that mental barrier was much needed. Finally, watching the 5 & 6 year old kids I coach (ski racing) drop into Copper and Union Bowls with adults all over cheering them on just makes me proud.
I've still got 4-6 more days to go, hoping to hit 40 this season so more to come.
Yesterday was a great ski day- I think maybe the best in my entire life. It was a sunny day but not so sunny that everything was melting (amazing for April). There was no wind and nothing was icy. I skied confidently. On every run that got me a bit scared I told myself either I had done it before or it was no harder than anything I had done in the past. I enjoyed it so much!
