emoticon It is a beautiful morning here....63 degrees!! But I'm sure that it will get hot soon. We had thunderstorms yesterday. I always worry about the electricity because my mom is on oxygen 24/7 and I would have to go over and put her on her auxiliary source. I hate to go out in thunderstorms!! But we made it through with no problems. Have a nice day!! And I'm really not ready for snow yet!! I really don't care for the stuff!!

Barb, we had big thunder boomers last night also. I have a very old dog and she gets so freaked out, my husband stayed up with her until about 1:00 in the morning. Poor old girl.

Boy did we get storms last night!!! Some places got between 1 and 2 inches. We really needed it! But, along with the rain, we had really high winds. My front yard looks like a newspaper truck lost it's load all along my fence. I'll have to pick it all up when I get home and it has a chance to dry out. The weekend is suppose to be nice, then hot again all next week. I'm not looking forward to my next electricity bill!!!!

Reading this really makes me appreciate our desert cool nights. It drops down to the mid-60's at night here during the summer. Mornings are delightful!

emoticon emoticon I got up at 4:30 this morning and it was already 80 here in Southern Indiana. We also had heat index right at or over 100. I can take hot weather but humidity nearly kills me!! It is supposed to rain here and I hope so because they say that we are 15 inches behind on rainfall. I know that they will put water restrictions into effect soon if we don't get more. Keep your fingers crossed.

I have to say this has been a pretty interesting and meandering discussion. It is great hearing about all parts of the world and the temps. Feel for me here in Chicago this winter when I am trying to trudge through 12 inches of snow or more!

I live in Southern Illinois and it's been hot and humid here. This morning at 4:30AM I took the dog out and it's already icky! I don't keep him out long when it's so hot. Yesterday the heat index (the "feels like" temperature) was 105! Hopefully it will be cooler this weekend so I can get my walks in. I'm also drinking water like a camel! LOL

Here in New Mexico, we've been having temperatures in the mid to high 90's, but it's cool in the mornings - 70's. Went bike riding this morning and it was lovely. We don't get high humidity too often. Our monsoons are supposed to be starting soon and then the humidity rises when we get the big rains. It poured the other night for 10 minutes and then cleared up. Humidity was pretty high then.

Here in Nebr., we've had upper 90's and 100 for the past few days. My yard is about the color of a hay field! I try to water in the evening when the temp starts to go down. I did some walking this past weekend in the morning before it got so hot and humid. I can identify about not having A/C in the car. I went for 3 summers in a small BLACK sports car with no air.... talk about nasty!! They just wanted way too much to fix it (good 'ol Chrysler products.. can't by just one part, have to replace the whole thing!) Finally last summer I was able to buy a newer and much nicer car with AIR!!! But, after going so long without it, there are days when my son yells at me for driving around with the windows open instead of using the A/C!! LOL

I was getting up at 6 and walking before it got hot, but after I broke my ankle, I don't do much. My biggest problem is the humidity and my leg getting hot and sweaty inside the cast. DH bought an air conditioner and as long as we have that running, it's manageable. But when it gets shut off, and the humidity starts up again, it's miserable. I sleep with a big fan blowing on me, and a smaller one aimed right at the top of my cast.

I'm in central Texas and I really don't mind the heat near as much as I do the cold. My body functions better and I feel better when it's hot and dry although I always welcome a little rain shower - even when we were having all those days of rain, I kept thinking it's eventually gonna stop and it won't be long before we'll be wishing it'd rain again. And guess what, some of us already are.

Happiness is within us all, it's up to us to find our joy - we can't expect others to find it or provide it for us.

The only 'real' thing in our lives thats an absolute constant is CHANGE...and somehow, someway, me must be willing to except and adapt.

In southeast Texas, it has been in lower 90's or 80"supper in the rain, with the humity in the upper 90' or low 100's. Since I walk with my granddaughter (5) while she drives in the rain. Yesterday we walked in the rain, she rode with a umbrella top on the jeep. So when we got home with shower a lot better. But don't walk in lightning.

I work 8to5 in an office with no windows -- and its freezing indoors! When I get off work and get home -- I enjoy the outdoors! Even if its hot! I'm gld to read your posts about puttering in the RAIN! On Saturday I continued thru the downpour and thoroughly enjoyed the refreshing water from above! It does such a better job than the faucet water. We even pump pond/tank water from the lower pasture to my garden area. Blessings to you all!

I am in the Chicago area and it really has not been horrible. It was really hot for a while but then we had some really cool wonderful weather. It has been really humit the last few days but only in the low to mid 80's. I was raised in Missouri and it stayed in the 90s a good part of the time so this is okay. I try to exercise early if it is too muggy but have not been too limited this year. No weeding in the rain but what a good idea, I did a bunch of weeding for my mom when I went to visit and rain would have made it so much easier.

I live in Central Illinois and it always seems hot and humid here. I'm not a big outside person... I'll walk a little outside in the spring or fall or sometimes even the winter. We have (and this sounds weird) a lovely cemetary to walk in. It's over a mile if you go all the way around and more if you go up and down the aisles (?). It's shady and I stop by my dad and other relatives' headstones and look at all the ones that are over 100 years old and try to imagine their lives. Otherwise, I have my trusty treadmill and mini-trampoline that I use most of the time with the A/C blasting and the fan directly on me. emoticon

It's so reassuring to know that I'm not the only nutter that does her going in the rain. I was desperate to put some plants in and stayed out in the rain until it was trickling down my back. But as you say it makes weeding a lot easier and anyway we are always being told water is good for us! emoticon

emoticon Pulling weeds in the rain!!! I love it. It is raining here today for the first time since June. We've had 90's every day. I drink tons of water...any where from 10-14 glases a day. I have A/C and I use it all the time. I get up at 4:30a.m. so that I can get all my excerise in before it gets too hot. Where I live there are no enclosed malls close so I work out here at home and at the Y. Both are A/C'ed. I hope that it continues to rain so that I don't have to water my plants. My water bill looks like the war debt!!!

Cherylyn, I can see blue sky, and white clouds and then turn my head and I can see BIG greey/black areas on its way again. This morning I intended picking some raspberries and the ripe morello cherries but it keeps having spells of rain. If I pick them while they are wet they just go mushy, so I need to pick them when they are dry. It's stopped at the moment so if it's still not raining in half an h our I will get out there and do my thing!

Even here in the Wyoming mountains it has been mighty hot recently. I spend some of my time in the neighborhood pool, which is nice. And we do have AC which helps a lot. Drinking lots of water is a necessity in the hot weather. The water helps keep us from being dehydrated.

This is the time of year to complain about the heat. Soon enough it will be the time of year to complain about the cold. Or the wind. Or the snow. LOL.

Judy, now that is determination...weeding in the rain! You showed them! LOL Is it a gloomy gray rain or are you still getting some sunshine?

It rained here this morning and I see it is still sprinkling, so guess I'll have to do a DVD this a.m. I missed my walk yesterday getting my teen registered for college, hate to do that two days in a row.

Hot and sticky in Florida our temps have been in the low 90's for the past couple of weeks. I walk really early in the morning, am usually out the door at first light around 6 ma. I stay inside most of the time and do other exercises in the comfort of the A/C. I do have access to a pool only about a 5 minute walk away so I take my grandsons there most day. I average about 12 glasses of water a day. MJ

I don't think I would like it quite that hot, but right now it would be a welcome change. We have rain now since the end of May and forecasts don't give us any change. Lots of area in UK have been flooded, not once but three and four times. Just imagine getting everything cleared out - all the mud, silt and sewage - and that's just the mess and not the smell!! We are lucky here, even though our garden backs on to a river the land level is 6 to 7 feet above normal river level and it's only risen up to the third step up from our river walkway level. Occasionally the sun does peep through and I think "Oh good, I'll get some weeding done". I did this the other evening, had been out for 10 minutes and it started raining again. This time I didn't give up - I got my very large umbrella, balanced it across my back and carried on weeding. It was like being under a mini tent. MY hubby thought I was mad!

We're hanging in the 90's here, typical for a South Texas summer, and the a/c in the car is blowing hot air. Until it's fixed, we're trying to make sure all our longer errands get done as early as possible, and staying in much of the afternoons. The little one gets so hot down in her carseat, and we don't want her to dehydrate or anything.

As for me, I'm just not doing a lot of yard work or exercise--and I should be doing both!

We're having the same kind of temps. I go for my walk early...by 7 a.m....and I have a typing job in A/C so my day is ok. Evenings, sometimes I work outside, depends on how hot it is.

How does everyone handle the extreme heat? I have been finding myself drinking betweem 9-15 glasses of water a day and even that seems not enough.
It is going to 83 today and by Saturday it is to be 95plus.
