Haven't seen True Grit but I did see King's English and really liked it. My son has seen most of the nominated films and his favorite was The Fighter.

I have heard nothing but good things about "True Grit" I hear it's nothing like the original. I want to see that and "The King's Speech". I love Colin Firth movies.

Our son went to see True Grit and recommended it to us, but we haven't gone yet. We don't go out to the movies often, but there are a few that we like to see on the big screen.

Happy Monday all!

Went to see Black Swan yesterday - disturbing movie. Okay, I admit I like movies with happy endings, hate horror and gore types, etc. so this just wasn't my cup of tea.

I just read Coach Dean's blog on Jack LaLanne. I didn't know that he had passed away. There were some links to read more about him and his accomplishments as well as some YouTube videos of his first shows! I just watched two of them and did the exercises with him--what a kick! It took me back to my childhood when I'd watch him on TV and do the exercises. I was smiling the whole time--what a great guy!

I have an old scale too, but have replaced the battery several times. I saw the WW scale at Costco yesterday, but passed it up. I don't think I need a new one yet.

Congratulations on dropping the pant size, PEGGY! I put on a pair of pants yesterday that I swear are mislabeled! They say 18, which is what my other comfortable jeans are and I got them zipped up, but spent a miserable day in town with those pants on! I got out of them the minute we got home. Same brand, same size--made in China.

Hi, everyone.

Okay, I'm within 4 lbs. of my goal and stuck here. I'm thinking I need to change something up to get the scale moving again. I'm going to try mixing things up on the treadmill - I walk 5 miles every night. I'll walk .75 miles then jog the final .25 miles of each mile I do.

Think that will work?

I saw the WW scale at Costco. The battery in my scale (not the WW one) has also lasted for a very long time. I can't remember how long I've had it and I have only changed it once.

I have a Homedics digital scale (I don't know the model), but mine has also lasted a really long time - 8 years now without needing to change the battery.

Mine has the ability to do BMI and save the height/gender info for 2 people so it can calculate a better BMI (tee hee, I've never changed that setting so according to my scale I'm still 43 years old LOL)

I soooo agree - congrats on going down a size! And in such a short time too!! Good on ya!!

I'm responding to the person who's asking about scales. I have a weight watchers scale that's inexpensive & gives your weight & nothing else. The battery lasted for 6 or 7 years & is starting to go now. If I put it in one place it will give one reading- if I move it, it will give meanother reading. It's digital. So, next payday, I'm going to get another battery for it. emoticon emoticon I have gone down a size in my shirts since Christmas! emoticon

Sorry I didn't know. I thought it was so nice when I got the comments on my page; didn't think of it like a chain thing & since I'm new, didn't know it was frowned upon.

Working hard at the gym and now look forward to going instead of making excuses why not to.

Good morning everyone, just wanted to pass along a message from Coach Jen.

Hi everyone

This is just a friendly reminder to please not pass along "chain" type SparkMails or comments on your SparkPage. There's one going around right now about being a beautiful person and passing it along to 3 other people you know. It's nice in theory, but can easily get out of hand.

I'd ask that you spread the word to prevent things like this from continuing.

Thanks!

Coach Jen

Good Morning! Well, my scale up and died on me. Does anyone have any suggestions on a new one?

This one was digital and didn't seem too last very long; the one before that was the old style dial kind and never seemed to keep it's accuracy.

LCharvon, good for you, and riding horses, I love horse back riding! Haven't gotten to do that in years. Hang in there, it takes awhile but things do begin to look better. It has been almost a year since my friend passed away and I am beginning to be able to remember him with joy. There are a few people here at work who loved him as much as I did and we now enjoy sharing memories about him. Until recently it meant a major tear fest!!!

Hola! and Gracias!

I went out today with my daughter and we rode our horses. It was a good day, in spite of the horrible beginning it had.

And I logged all my food, and made good choices!

So sorry for your loss LCHARVON. You're right about appreciating friends every day.

I haven't been able to check in as often as I'd like. I'm back to school and taking Spanish! I love the challenge, but I really have to stay on top of the homework! It's not easy to keep my brain cells clicking~

Hope you've all had a good weekend and are ready for a busy week!

Thank you, Frannie. It is a shock, for sure.

Decided to take the anxious energy and channel it into preparing a lot of good foods for the week ahead. I'm going to need to have my wits about me, and being prepared will really help.

Lost a dear friend last night. He was only in his early 50's, and he will be greatly missed.

Made it through another snow storm Friday night. Got things cleaned up yesterday but in doing so hurt my shoulder trying to dig my car out to get to work. Did not get to work after all y hard work. Babied my shoulder yesterday and not feeling to bad today but will continue for another day just to be safe for work tomorrow.
I lost another 2 lbs this week. I do my weigh in on saturday's so I can treat myself to drink later in the evening. I did have some oven fries last night with fish for supper and lots of veggies. Hope that doesn't mess with my weight lost for the coming week.
Have a great Sunday. emoticon

Zanball - Enjoy their visit! Getting back on track is what Mondays are for. Beautiful day here with fresh snow and sun - bitter cold is on its was to Phila.

Good morning everybody!

Got in my 5 miles on the treadmill last night, but probably won't have time to do so today. The DH's daughter and her boyfriend are coming for a visit over the weekend and having house guests always throws the schedule off. Oh well, it will be nice to see them and I'll get in the workout in whenever possible :)

Have a lovely weekend all!

@zanball - love taste of home. I make a butternut squash soup with baking pumpkins (we grow) and it has a bit of a bite to it 'cause it uses crushed red peppers and cumin.

Had a nice day today - got a 35 min. brisk (pace and temp) walk in. My son takes the car on the mornings he has 5:30am swim practice and then I walk up and steel the car from the HS lot. Sure gets me going.

I picked up a formal dress from a store today that I had purchase before Christmas and then left it there for them to hem. Well - it was much tighter when I bought it and now it fits so much better - Ha! New it was the right purchase. I have 2 "Balls" to wear it to - la te da...only go to 2 a year. One business with DH and one military with my family.

Most likely celebrated with too much popcorn, rumbles are starting....

Huge shout out to all of us for all our hard work getting happy and healthy

Hello, all,

Couldn't get on for a while - so nice to see the progress everyone's making! Great work - let's all keep at it :) :)

Gotta tell you all: my friend at work put me on to a new cookbook: Taste of Home Comfort Food Diet. Follow the link below to see it.

It's AWESOME!! You probably know what a foodie I am by now. Last night I made a couple of the recipes - really comfort food and the entire dinner was only 500 calories (pork loin chops with blue cheese sauce, creamed peas and carrots were the main events). Even the hubby loved it. Tasted sooooo rich and good. Can't wait to try more of the recipes.

Suzanne, 50 pounds in what 6 months is great! It took me a lot longer, but the success also comes in keeping it off. Good for you!

A big day for me - I passed the 50 pounds lost mark. It's taken me since late July but I have done it. Now on to the next 50! When I look at that package of ground meat in the freezer and think I have lost 50 of them it's staggering! How much we get in denial!

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Press On!

P.S. I blogged my 50 tips for losing 50 pounds :)

No grandbaby yet, we are still on baby watch! It was due yesterday but since it is a first it will probably be late! (much like my daughter and her husband!)

FRANIDID I like both Olivia and Genevieve.

We had a little snow and some freezing rain over night. Wont be going out today. It's grey and nasty! I must get back on track with exercise.

Good morning everyone! Do take a minute to look at the bottom of our team page, you will see the new members down there! It is so nice to receive a greeting from team members when you first start. We leaders do try to greet everyone we can but don't always get each and every person. If we all make an effort to try then they can feel welcomed and wanted by our team. It is hard when starting out here and one of the really great things about this site is the wonderful members. I can't tell you how welcomed I felt when I started this team some 3 1/2 years ago!

It is icy here, not much walking will happen today, bummer! My exercise is definitely down!!!

Garvco, I'm glad you're keeping that lovely tree for a while. I looked on your page to see the pictures and couldn't really tell how it was put together, but I sure like the way it turned out!

Garvco, I am so glad you are not taking down your outside tree, a red heart will be really neat! I will definitely stop by your page to see it!

It is supposed to snow, sleet, rain today, lovely. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon right in the middle of it. To add to that my doctor wants to do the whole fasting blood work so I can't eat anything. And I am home because it is MLK day and there is not school so I have to stay home and not eat! Wish me luck.

We are still on baby watch, nothing new on that front!!!

Have great a day everyone!

oops I meant our indoor tree that we decorated. The one for my profile pic is going to have its star replaced with a red heart. Then I think we will use it for fire wood. stop by my page to see how we did it.

Its lovely here in Philadelphia. Christmas is all put away - tree is on the mulch pile/stick pile. Getting some outdoor exercise later with friends playing a new sport for me - Paddle Tennis, also known as platform tennis. Its a small tennis court raised up off the ground and inside a "cage". Ball has to land in court first, but can then bounce off cage and be returned. Think - paddle ball, squash courts or what I like to say " extreme cage ping pong". Like when you played ping pong in your basement and the rafters, walls, etc. were in bounds. Have a great day.

It was another crisp, sunny day here and it would've been a nice day for doing more outside cleanup, but I had a baby shower to go to that was more important.

DH did get the Christmas lights down and stowed this morning though--I was pretty excited about that! Last year it was almost Easter! LOL

I thought I might get some outside work done after the baby shower, but had lost my steam by then. Oh well, little by little...
