I take Estroven plus Energy capsules....they helped tremendously with the hot flashes and night sweats. I've been taking them about 5 years and I'm thinking about weaning myself off just to find out if I'm still having hot flashes... emoticon

I used to live in southern Cali and I loved it. Currently here where I live right now, not a choice we actually had, it is 14 degrees, windy and snowing. I am a southern girl, this is way to cold for me. As for having my own personal tropical vacations (hot flashes)...I may get one once in awhile but they do not last but a few seconds and never help get me warmed up any. Almost wish they did since I am COLD right now...especially since I have lost so much weight and have trouble maintaining my body temp.

Now I have a friend who is going through "the change" and it is a riot listening to her! From the sound of things, they don't need any "heat" at their house...just the a/c. Speaking of a/c...would you believe it was 79 today in CA?

That is funny. I sort of giggled when any of my friends that were older than me talked about this time of their lives. I kept thinking silly things like "What? It cannot be THAT bad." and stuff like that. Now I am that age and I am thinking to myself WOW, is this for real?

I have never tried that particular thing but I have heard of it before. I may give it a try soon. I am always on the lookout for anything that can make my body better in any way. Thanks. As far as the usual effects of menopause goes...hot flashes, night sweats, ect...not really having that too bad at all...at least not yet and hopefully won't. But my biggest complaint is that out of nowhere my libido dropped to ZERO suddenly. My doctor checked me for everything else and told me it was hormonal. Seems that testosterone is the sex hormone and controls desire and that is why I am using the testosterone cream she had the pharmacist make up for me. They say it usually takes a couple of weeks to see any benefit. Should know soon. I cannot stand having my sex drive go out the window...hey, we may be over a certain age...but we ain't dead by a long shot.

Thats right GSBORA... Have you ever made up Parsley Tea? Use fresh parsley and steep in a teapot (if you have one) using boiling water. It doesn't taste like parsley at all...and is like a purifier...hm, this probably hasn't a thing to do w/hormones... but is a good tea LOL Actually, if you feel or have an infection, this is a good way to "purify" a persons body.

Angelsalis...you are right about that. There is not one thing that will work for everyone so we all do whatever works for us I guess. Since I am just starting to go through this whole thing...perimenopause and all, I have come to discover a whole new side to myself...some good and some not so good (ha ha). Guess it is just another chance for me to learn more about me.

Janet, I have been on the vivelle dot patch twice a week as well for about 5 years, I had a complete hysterectomy when I was 37, and it has been a fight to get things leveled off since then. So I will recomend that as well. Blessings, Diana

Can you get that Natural Estrogen (Estriol) Cream with Natural Porgesterone from a regular doctor? Since I had my hysterectomy my libido has disappeared altogether! Going to have a talk with my doctor!
Thanks!

I used tri-est, again made for the strength I need. I only took it for a few months - no more problems!

Thank you all for the info. Keep it all coming girls...education is power. As for my personal story..I am 53 at the end of this month (December 30th). Doctor says I am going through menopause. Ok, I can deal with that...it has advantages I guess. The hot flashes are not a big deal (yet?) only have one one in a while. Night sweats? Occasionally, but still not a big deal. The other effects I have been experiencing are lubrication decrease (which doctor has put me on vaginal Vagifem, which I can say has made a fantastic change so far. But I find that my most serious complaint is that my libido seemed to have disappeared almost overnight. And for me and hubby of 27 years (on Dec 11th), that is not acceptable at all. So doctor got the pharmacist to make up an ointment with testosterone to apply twice a day. It has only been 3 days and no change, but doctor says it may take a few weeks. Anyone have more ideas to increase libido or have experience with such things? Thanks a million ladies.

My OB has taken it upon himself to learn and he uses an apothecary that will make the exact amount I need.
Best of luck on your search.

I use the Vivelle Dot patch twice a week at the lowest dosage of .1mg/day. I had a complete hysterectomy and I could not take any of those pills because it made me so sick to my stomach! I can tell the difference when I forget to put a new patch on~my mood changes very easily! I haven't had any side effects from taking it and I have been on it for 5 years now. I tried Estroven and Remifemin but they did not work for me. Good luck in your search~HUGS, Janet

A good on-line shop i sVita-cost- you can read lots about the different products (and shop from home!)

Ok Girls...help me out here please if you would. Is anyone taking hormone replacement therapy or hormones of any type such as compounded testosterone creams, vaginal estrogen, ect... I have investigated a lot of it online, read what I can and talked to my doctor about it so if the time comes I can be informed. But I would like feedback from real life women here. So do you take any type of hormones or know of someone that does and how is it working for you? Good? Bad? Side effects?
