I also eat a banana before exercising so not much help sorry.
For lunch most days I take a wholemeal pitta, which I toast and fill with houmous and salad and a little sweet chilli sauce. Lovely.
Start (Jan 09) - 281
current - 251
I like home popped popcorn - going to try some gourmet popcorn I bought last week (tomorrow)
Houmous with veggies / in a sandwich with thin slices of beef and spinach
Bananas, apples with cheese (or feta cheese with olives)
Chicken with cherry tomatoes
Pitta with houmous
peanut butter on crackers (I like the hovis / poppy seeded ones)
Hope that gives you some ideas for snacks..... most of these would be ok a couple of hours before exercising

I've been having wholemeal pitta with lettuce and cooked chicken pieces or tuna (pitta can get soggy with tuna if you are taking a pack-up though). If I could eat tomatoes I'd put that in as well. I also like rolls or sandwiches using light cheese spread instead of butter/marg or mayonnaise with cooked meats and salad.
I can't really help with pre-exercise snacks as I try to workout within a couple of hours of breakfast but I say that you can't beat a banana as a snack any time.
Great topic though, thanks.
