Have you noticed that when food prices go up "due to higher gas prices", when the gas prices go down again (which they eventually do) the food prices do not go down?

Every time I go in the grocery store, prices seem to be HIGHER than they were my last trip. The REALLY SAD part about that statement is: sometimes my last trip was only 1 day earlier!
It is a vicious cycle, too; bc the GAS prices are also rising, so HIGHER GAS...HIGHER FOOD costs. My friend in Ohio was SHOCKED to hear cherries (she was EATING cherries at the time) cost $6.99 lb. here. Another friend wanted scallops. They are $17.99 lb. She said she'll PASS!
My husband & I were watching TV last night & "TWINKIES" will be back on the shelf! They are said to be "smaller"; but the price will still be $2.99 a box. They SAID the price DIDN'T go UP; but I told my husband IT DID; bc NOW you get LESS product for the same money!

It wasn't a SMART MOVE to cut the food stamp program with sky rocketing food prices. We can't be PASSIVE about this; but I have no solution. emoticon

With the food prices increases, them removing food stamps from the bill is going to do nothing but cause more people to be below the poverty line...sadly our government is using "line items" to wipe out their own citizens....

I'd like to see more passion about the recent farm bill passed in the House that increases payments to agribusiness while de-funding food stamps. What is that all about?

Yeah...I don't think Americans are passive but when you compare our country to that of the citizens of Egypt, then I can see how one would make that assumption....Americans do turn out when they are passionate about an issue or feel that their rights are being stepped on...
