Thank you all for supporting teachers. I also get upset with those who say "teachers are OK, but the money-grabbing unions ........! Guess what, folks, we are the union. And we need to stick together as much or more as at any time in memory.

the priorities of this nation are out of order...always have been and is getting worse...I have always said that teachers and first responders should be paid the most because their value is inmeasurable...but hey, what do I know? SMH

One of the guardian angels of my life was my first-grade teacher, Sister Mary Leonora. Did I encounter some who were ill-tempered? Of course. Any group of humans will have some who are nasty.

Teachers are among the most under-compensated, underappreciated in our society and it's just WRONG. How should some joker who can throw a ball be worth a king's ransom while teachers are so underpaid?

I work for the retirement system (well, I retired from it but have been back part-time) in Wisconsin and I see the earnings of teachers across the state as part of my job, and I have good friends who are teachers. There is no way they are over-compensated for the job they do. I know I'm preaching to the choir. How can we not value the people who we expect to educate and care for our children?
And nuns. Nobody works harder than those women. I went to Catholic schools and sure, some of them were unhappy and mean. Some of every group is unhappy and mean. But the ones I remember, and the sisters I still know today, have shaped my life in ways I don't even realize, and ways no priest ever did.

I was a teacher for a few years when we were on Guam. My husband was always complaining about how much time I put in!

And I put in a ton of time when I was a teacher as a nun. And of course, that was for NO PAY.
