What is really maddening, past the obvious, is that if one of us did something like that, there would be no consideration of our ability to maitain our job and pay restitution. We'd be jailed. Complete double standard.
“A word to the wise ain't necessary, it's the stupid ones who need the advice.”
I'll tell you what's really upsetting. All those people rioting in the streets of Oakland because of the light sentence the police officer who shot the unarmed black guy received? They don't get the fact that it's not a race war; it's a class war. And we--along with the angry people in Oakland, the people in Vail who OUGHT to be taking this to the streets but aren't, and everyone else on the much-mentioned Main-Street-not-Wall-Street--are losing.
My eyes just crossed and my blood pressure spiked. That is beyond despicable. I'm just imagining a low-income person with a family to feed being allowed to skate on a major hit and run because it would interfere with his/her ability to make a living. Right, not in THIS universe.
"...there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it's worth fighting for."
"We're children of a fighting race that never yet has known disgrace." (The Soldiers' Song, Irish national anthem)
"Every day above ground is a good day." (Chef Justin Kennedy of New Orleans, on Chopped)
