Murdock has always been into sensationalism ... for a while before he took over FOX, he bought the Chicago Sun Times and turned it into an even worse sensationalist vehicle than it was in the first place. Interesting thing was the paper still retained its Dem. Party leanings, leaving the city with the poor choice of that facist rag, the Chicago Tribune, or the Sun Times as the 2 major players.
Those who wanted to read some fairly accurate stuff would pick up the NYTimes ... for National, World, Financial News. That was all before most folks had internet and cable access. I still rely more on written articles than TV for in depth info -- people tend to forget that pictures/video can be skewed just as well as words, but with greater impact. i.e., remember the video coverage of Saddam Hussein's statue coming down??? Someone back at the time backed up for a wider pan of the scene revealing that what looked in the close up to be a huge crowd gathered around in celebration, there were only a few of our own soldiers and even fewer Iraqi citizens.
“Cowardice asks the question, 'Is it safe?' Expediency asks the question, 'Is it politic?' But conscience asks the question, 'Is it right?' And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but because conscience tells one it is right.” ~Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
