Won't you know the "tan man" Republican Governor Crist appointed a Republican to such a hard fought seat that went Democrat.........just today. What a jerk.

You ought to see the governor of Florida, Charlie Crist.....he is ORANGE.

And, the SOB is getting ready to appoint a Republican to the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections position (Phyllis Busansky - a good Democrat and a very long time friend of mine died a couple of weeks ago. She had beat out a Republican appointee who is now up on charges of fraud and God knows what else).

Geez.......

Foley...BTW, I was born in Lewistown. I'm glad the money is doing some good up there. It is here as well...Florida. But we've still got a way to go.

As for the stimulus...why do people think that Obama is going to snap his fingers and everything is going to be instantly better? I think that the GOP is putting that out there...it serves their purpose to say: See...Obama is failing.

It's insane! I look for it to take years to get better...

CEELEE... I know many people who have had that "sun fixation" and that nice shade of Orange. I still find humor watching people go into a Tanning Salon on a beautiful sunny 80 degree day.

I think Dennis Leary was right when he said "we've become a bunch of giant hamsters."

But his implosion was bond to happen, for years Democrats cried "foul" when they were shut out by the Republicans under Bush and the Limbaughs/Hannity's of the Media loved it. Now when they get a taste of what they did, they do not know how to handle it. At least the Democrats put up some sort of fight.

Do I think a 2nd Stimulus is needed, HELL NO!.. So what if Warren Buffet says it is needed, Warren is a smart man, but follow the leader not a chance. The money is there, it's time for the Gonvernors to step up. Here in Pa and in Ohio, the money is being put to work. I'm not sure about anyone else's state.

We live in a "rapid response" time, immediate results. It took 8 years for the New Deal to work, this "deal" is only 5 months old.

not far off at all, Steph! It sometimes feels like we are watching a sitcom of some sort...between Ensign, Sanford and Palin we could call it "Two Men and a Little Lady" emoticon

Thanks, Chris. I kept thinking "Norm" from Cheers. Gees, I should have recognized the name! But maybe I wasn't that far off, eh?

Foley...LOL! Boehner and his tanning fixation. Do you think "tanning" is an addiction. We have a news anchor here in Florida that has the same shade as B, and I find it impossible to listen to her...I'm too distracted by how white her teeth are and how blonde her hair is and how her french manicure makes her hands appear detached from the rest of her person. She also wears pastel shades so that the "tan" just about leaps off her visually.

Just plain weird! But maybe an addiction as well?

As for the GOP, I find their floundering fitting given their penchant for posturing and expounding on all sorts of topics, the biggest one being: family values. They sure have taken a nosedive off THAT platform.

Steph...Norm Coleman is the man Al Franken ran against in Minnesota. Al has just been sworn in...finally, and the lateness of his swearing in ceremony was due to the stoopid shenanigans of Coleman and the GOP.

ITA, Bridie. "I stand bewildered by the years of foolishness that led up to the GOP demise."

A three-party system would be better than what we've had, but I think we're a long way from that option.

Well considering that the GOP leadership can't even keep their facts straight or even their own words. I think the chemicals from the "Spray" tanning is affecting Boehner

The Republican party is the union of two groups, social conservatives who don't like sex, birth control, abortion, homosexuality and diversity and fiscal conservatives who don't like taxes, social programs and regulation.

Some Republicans are both social and fiscal conservatives but many mainly fit into one camp or the other.

The Republican party needs both groups to win elections. Reagan united both groups as did George W Bush. Sarah Palin was popular among social conservatives but tended to alienate other voters.

That is a good question, Bridie. My parents were conservatives - very very - and I remember how solid the party was with Barry Goldwater and even with Nixon. I had moved out, though, when Nixon imploded in Watergate and was so disgusted by the whole thing that I simply wrote off all politicians and politics. So I can't say anything about their demise from then on. It really sucks, because we have nothing without two solid parties. I mean, in the greater sense of things.

I haven't been following Pelosi so I can't comment on what the repubs think she is doing so wrong. Nor do I know who Coleman is - I could google him, but I'd rather ask.

What's a "Norm Coleman"?

And..how in the world did a powerful established party like the GOP so thoroughly lose touch with the world around them, and the needs and desires of their own constituents? Are they mindless robots, programmed to perform the same actions over and over?

Sadly, Sparkle...I think you are correct. The GOP, in it's current condition, is like watching a train wreck. Like watching a really bad dancer making all the wrong moves and cringing at all the feet getting trampled in their blindness to get back to their elevated position of the past 12-15 years.

And don't even let me start on Norm Coleman...the guy has never won any election! That's taxpayer dollars being spent on a LOSER. He has lost EVERY election he has run for! There should be a law about how many times you can waste the taxpayers money! emoticon

The GOP will never see the "good" side of anything unless it benefits them directly...if they REALLY thought Norm Coleman had a chance, then they are more jaded than originally thought.....

I think a third party would be great..but am beginning to fear we're losing our second party without developing another. I stand bewildered by the years of foolishness that led up to the GOP demise.

I don't see how they could do anything but. There is simply no one there who can take over the party and bring it around. A nice outcome of this would be a true three-party system. But we know that the two-party one is so entrenched that I somehow doubt it will ever happen in the US.

It just seems amazing to watch their choices this past year...shocking, really.

The current GOP is so out of touch with the American public...to which I couldn't be happier. The Obama administration has a real opportunity with Franken to make some lasting changes that benefit so many.

Let's hope the Pubs continue their downward spiral...

Gee willikers, there was an ad on that page to vote "Do you like Sarah Palin?" Good ol' newsmax.

I can see her believing she can be a new Barry Goldwater. But I don't think she has it and with a SOB I mean GOP behind her like the one running the Franken ad, well, not much chance in hell or anywhere else for that matter. Let them continue.

What next? Each week, the iceberg that was the Republican Party, appears to be devolving seemingly before our eyes. It's hard to imagine what could possibly be next on the horizon.
