I had to watch how Sean Hannity would react to this, so i forced myself to do so. Hannity played sympathetic about it, and he's guest was Karl Rove. Both of these nitwits basically said "public figures personal lives shoud not be in the news." OK I paraphrased, but that's what I gathered.
Yet, if Sanford was a Democrat, I am 100% positive Hannity would have pulled the "just another limo riding, volvo driving, socialist liberal destroying the sanctity of marriage"
I couldn't bring myself to watch Glenn Beck, because I'm sure he'd link his bout with alcoholism to it somehow and be preachy. Or would he have made a conspiracy blaming the liberal media? Dang it should've watched
About 30 or so years ago we had a state senator here in California by the name of John Schmitz, who bolted the Republican party for the American Independent party since the Repubs were too bleeding-heart pinko for him. This sworn officer of the Constitution actually said it might be good for America to be taken over by a military junta!
Well, he stood four-square for family values. He believed so deeply in family that he had a second family across town that his wife knew nothing about -- until his mistress was arrested for child endangerment and neglect when their son was injured (he'd gotten a hair wrapped around his genitals and it wasn't discovered until he was nearly castrated). She eventually got probation and parenting classes.
Oh, and this paragon's older daughter? Mary Kay LeTourneau. Remember her?

"We're children of a fighting race that never yet has known disgrace." (The Soldiers' Song, Irish national anthem)
"Every day above ground is a good day." (Chef Justin Kennedy of New Orleans, on Chopped)
