You said it Keith, the "double standard" by the mainstream "liberal media." Every time Sister Sarah burps, the media is right there. She is an unqualified, vacuous media hog that deserves no attention, but the "base" supposedly loves her. I have seen no coverage of this in the MSM, but then I have not seen any comment from Mr. Steele either about how he feels as the GOP spews this bigotry.

I agree with you, Obama should not address or point attention to this stuff, it should be done if at all by some underling. He needs to concentrate on getting our business done.

And Obama has not addressed these incidents. Palin flips out over a Letterman joke, causing controversy around the nation & the news/talk circuit; while a real leader keeps doing his job.
If you read the posts following the article, you'll find a strange person calling himself "American Patriot" defending this as a joke and practically blaming it on Obama because, after all, he played the race card.
There are some sick punks in this country, and I doubt this attitude will ever completely die out. Fear breeds monsters.

State GOP staffer sends racist image of Obama.

Over the weekend, a GOP official in South Carolina posted a comment to Facebook comparing Michelle Obama to an escaped gorilla. Now, in a second instance of Republicans playing the race card against the Obamas, Wonkette notes that a racist e-mail was sent out by a legislative staffer for Tennessee GOP state senator Diane Black. The staffer, Sherri Goforth, e-mailed this composite picture of the country’s 44 presidents, which represents President Obama with only a set of eyes.

When I asked her if she understood the controversial nature of the photo, Goforth would only say she felt very bad about accidentally sending it to the wrong list. When I gave her a second chance to address the controversial nature of the email, she again repeated that she only felt bad about sending it to the wrong list of people.

It's amazing that these toads get so offended when they are called out for their racism and prejudices. Read also the lame response that is an explanation or half-as#$ed apology. The GOP IS a party of extreme right wing white bigots mainly in the south...REALLY. I hope they keep this klind of stuff up. NO matter what, the Democratic party will keep majority for years to come.

The time for this Klan era, Jim Crow bigotry has come and gone. As a Southerner, I cannot accept that we have people that want to return to this sort of divisive, hateful bigotry. (There's plenty of this virulent strain up North and West folks, too...it is anti-immigrant, anti-minority, non white, based in fear and xenophobia, but it is an art form in some pockets of the "Old South.") To quote Neil Young:
